Awesome!!!!!!.......2007-04-10
This is a must have for the A and P section of the test. I used this and passed with 4 high markings out of 6 as a result. I also bought the other guide like this. The other guide went over assesment and application.
Wonderful Tool.......2006-05-05
I only ordered volume 1 of this set of 3. I felt that this area is where I needed to review the most. The book is a little less than 1000 questions and answers. I felt that it was extremely helpful and I would recommend it to anyone taking this exam. I passed on the high end of 4 out of the 6 sections of the exam! I wasn't sure at first about purchasing because of the amount but I took a chance and now feel that it was well worth it.
Awesome!!.......2003-12-02
951 questions and answers!! This book was essential to my passing the NCBTMB the first time. I learned a great deal from this book and well as from Volumes 2 and 3. I was surprised at the number of test questions about Traditional Chinese Medicine. This book provides a great deal of information on that topic.
951 extremely thourough and detailed review questions!!.......2003-11-20
This was a great book to use in preparation for the NCBTMB exam, even though some of the questions were a little TOO esoteric (5 questions on hyoid muscles? Come on! How often does one massage the THROAT? And the bulbospongious and levator ani? Yeah, right! I massage those every time - NOT!) Even so, it helped me focus on what was for me the most difficult and challenging part of the exam and to find the "holes" in my knowledge. Questions arent' mixed up, but are in order, so it's possible to review a system, take the questions, correct, then review again. HIGHLY recommended!

If you want an "A", this book will help you get it!!.......2003-12-10
I bought both this book and Volume 2 in the series [Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Volume 2: Orientation of the Body, Cells, Tissues, Integumentary System) by Patrick Leonardi] and both these books helped me get an "A" in my A&P class!! They helped to reinforce the book material and quickly showed me which areas I didn't understand so I could study and get better grades for each exam. Many of the topics in A&P are complicated and it's VERY helpful to have a wonderful resource guide such as this to anticipate test questions so you can make your mistakes with the resource guide and not on your tests.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent study guide.......2004-05-04
This is such a thorough study guide for the diagnostic imaging section of the boards. I used this book along with Yochums book,"Skeletal Radiology" and aced this portion of the boards. I was glad I used this book because it showed me the type of questions asked on this portion of the boards. In fact, about 50% of the part 4 boards is on diagnostic imaging if you count also the post-history and post-diagnostic rooms. The thing about this test that is insane is the short time limit you are given for each question. Without this book, I think I would have failed part IV because I would not know what to expect. I have to say I was a lot more calm when taking the test because I was ready for the type of questions that were being asked. This is a must book for anyone taking the Part 4 boards. It's better than spending well over $1000 plus traveling expenses to take the test again.

The Solution for Calculus review.......2006-11-07
Amazon did a good job on getting the solutions quide to me before class started and it was in great condition. I strongly recomend the Solution Guide for any one using the Calculus book by Ron Larson, even though the answers are in the back of the book knowing how you get the answer is more important. You do not get every question but you at least get every odd number in the book. The solutions show the step by step procces and even give you some of proofing why they chose that way to solve the problem.
Not a good study guide.......2005-12-27
The Text book is great and the problems are fun. Unfortunately with the volume of problems that need to be solved and practice the study guide is needed. This study guide is essentially a glorifyed answer key that is found int he back of the book. I found the study guide to be a major disappointment, very thin, eliminated key steps and did not agree with the form of the answers some of the final solutions.
This is volume 2........2005-11-16
Larson and company does a great job in their books, which is why so many schools have begun to use his text books. I find it very easy to understand once I do more problems, however, you need the solutions and study guide for the problems worked out to all the questions. This page is really for volume 2 of the study and solutions guide. I figured that out after ordering several of the volume 2 books. That was frusterating. The picture you see clearly states volume 1.
A big disappointment!.......2005-10-05
When I was in pre-calculus I found the Student Study and Solutions Guide for Algebra and Trigonometry by Dianna Zook to be indispensable. I learned more from it than I did from the text book. Unfortunately Diana Zook did not write this solutions guide. This book is written by the authors of the text book. I would say that 75% of the time that I refer to this solutions guide, I come away empty handed. The problem is that the authors of this book skip too many steps and this usually includes the step that I am having problems with. I think their theory is that you should remember everything that you learned in algebra and trig and shouldn't need any help from the solution guide doing those steps. Sounds like a good theory but, unfortunately, that's not the way it is in real life. The answers to the odd problems are in the back of the text book and this isn't much better than that. My suggestion is to save your money and find help from other sources. My suggestion to Houghton-Mifflin is to let Dianna Zook write the next calculus solutions guide.
Book Description
Contains solutions to all odd-numbered exercises in Chapters P-9.

Great Help.......2003-09-19
This book has been a great help to me. It works out all odd numbered problems to the Calculus seventh edition text in great detail. I breeze through homework assignments now. This is one of the first study guides I've ever seen that actually gives helpful examples for possible test questions. If you want do well in your calculus class, this would definitely be a helpful addition to your arsenal. Only disadvantage is that there are no verbal explanations of procedures. If you have a half decent teacher this won't matter. You can get the how's and the why's from attending class.

Study guide has great questions for test preparation. .......2005-02-06
The questions and answers were so helpful in this book. I could test myself to see what I knew or didn't know for my college exams. The questions really were key to helping me get very good grades. I also highly recommend his Volume 2 and Volume 3 of The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology. If you want to increase your chances of getting excellent grades, I would definitely get these three books.
Excellent Study Guide!.......2004-08-21
This study guide had pratically every type of question I needed to know for my college biology exams. The author really knows what is asked on exams. His explanations were very good, too. This was a wonderful learning tool because I could test myself to see how much I really knew for the exam. I found it better to get the questions wrong in this study guide then to get them wrong on the exams. I used his other two volumes also which
are--- The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Volume 2 and The Ultimate Study Guide for Biology: Volume 3. These guides were very helpful for biology I and biology II.

Targeted to Actual Exam.......2001-09-23
I found the Ballast guides to be concentrated specifically on the exams that we are acutally going to take. The subjects were organized and concise. Not too much time was spent on "advanced" topics not necessary for the structural topics tested in the exam. It provided most of the rules of thumbs that can be used by architects not only for the exam, but everyday practice. One could purchase the guide strictly as a desk side companion.
Informative and concise........2000-05-19
This book is a complete study guide for the major structural topics and questions for the architectural licensing exam. My overall enthusiasm for this book was average. I found that there were chapters that were too vague or simply did not have enough information on specific equations. I also found that I did have to supplement the studying from this book with my own notes from my structures courses along with additional study material from other sources. I do recommend this book for anyone wishing to brush up on thier studying for the Lateral Forces and General Structures portions of the ARE/NCARB. Keep in mind, as with any other division of the exam, this would not be a single source for study material.
This book is a great helper in the study of the ARE.......1998-12-21
This book offers a great summary of the main issues tested in the A.R.E. Although it should not be used as the only resource to study from, it explains most of the terms in a clear and concise manner. Be forewarned, the book does not provide enough information to pass any of the 9 parts. The test taker must use other resources to find and understand all of the required information to prepare successfully for the exam.
