A tool that can't break!.......2007-01-09
This little book is full of great ideas and concepts and can help you out on the job, but also if you are a person looking to become familar with these concepts, this is a great book to read.
CAN'T BEAT THIS FOR THE PRICE.......2006-05-15
I recently purchased the Lean Pocket Guide (published by MCS Media, Inc. i.e., The Lean Store) and found it to be the most book for your money that is on the market. This book set the standard for good, informative information on Lean. The illustrations and explanations were perfect for the folks on the shop floor, as well as my supervisors.
A Lean book that practices what it preaches!
What you need on the shop floor:-).......2006-03-30
Hello, this little booklet is excellent. You get all information on lean concepts in your palm and right where you need it -not at your desk- but on the shop floor.
Even better would be customized country versions to spread the lean culture widely amongst companies;-))
Regards
Ralf Lippold
OUTSTANDING!.......2005-08-20
The Lean Pocket Guide is undoubtedly the best value Lean book ever written. All the Lean tools are clearly defined, along with good, simple illustrations. The Key Points at the end of each section provide additional insight into Lean applications. All our employees have one of these. It was very rewarding to see - on the day following giving these to our employees (there was an employee that did not particpate very often in our teams) having The Lean Pocket Guide opened on his bench to the Standard Work chapter. I need say no more!
The Greatest Lean Book Ever Written.......2004-09-04
This is by far the best and most comprehensive book on lean terms and concepts in the market. The group of authors certainly understand and know the ins and outs of Lean. The illustrations, graphs, directions, key points are superbly explained like no other book..and I have read them all. Fantastic job authors!

VERY USEFUL.......2007-05-16
THE BOOK GIVES A MULTIPLE TOOLS TO APPLY LEAN IN THE OFFICE, WITH THIS BOOK I AM KNOWING NEW WAYS TO START LEAN IN THE OFFICE. I THINK THAT THE BOOK IS VERY SHORT IN EXPLAIN THE APPLICATION OF THE lEAN TOOLS AND REFERENCES TO OTHERS BOOKS WOULD BE VERY USEFUL.
IN GENERAL, I AM HAPPY WITH THIS BOOK IS VERY USEFUL.
GOOD, SOLID LEAN TOOLS FOR THE OFFICE.......2005-06-06
I like this larger version of The Lean Office Pocket Guide because the forms are easier to read and use. There is quite a bit of information on each page, and this larger version, allows none of it to be skipped over. We use these in our training course which everyone can take notes in.

Customer Reviews:
A "must have" for design/manufacturing engineers.......2000-02-12
I teach Product Design Engineering at Ohio State and I can honestly say that Bralla is absolutely the best single reference for working designers and manufacturing engineers that I've found. An incredible compendium of useful info on just about any manufacturing process you can think of, and plenty you HAVEN'T thought of, plus chapters on Design for Assembly, materials, economic considerations - you name it. The book is a bit pricey, but considering the amount of useful information packed into it, it's a steal. Bralla far exceeds McGraw-Hill's regrettably low standards for their handbooks - this one is a keeper!

Customer Reviews:
Horngen's book better.......2001-06-13
I am currently inplementing a project/job accounting system. This book was fine as an overview but of little use otherwise. Horngren's Cost Accounting - A Managerial Emphais was also purchased. Horngren's book was better as an overview and for the theory and details of implemtation.
Cost Accounting & Beyond.......2001-04-07
This really is a COMPREHENSIVE guide to the numerous and varied aspects of the subject matter. It is a MUST READ for all professionals whose responsibilities are impacted by the cost accounting needs of their organization.
An Excellent and Practical Guide to Cost Accounting.......2001-03-29
In today's economic environment the role of the cost accountant has become more complex and vital to an organization's success. Cost Accounting: A Comprehensive Guide is a practical resource for the professional. How refreshing to have a cost accounting book that addresses the daily issues encountered in the operations of a company rather than a theoretical approach to the subject. I recommend this book to the entry-level cost accountant through the well-seasoned practitioner. Excellent!
Complete and up to date.......2001-03-28
Comprehensive is the right word. It's been twenty years since I took cost accounting and the fundamentals haven't changed, however, the world has. Bragg's comprehensive guide is up to date and complete. It's a solid addition to our library and has practical ideas for using systems and technology that we need in the real world. Well worth the price.
This Cost Accounting book can make you a Hero!.......2001-03-28
As a practicing cost accountant for over 20 years, I know that in tough times, companies need cost accounting and control to remain (or become) profitable. It is as cyclical as the economy. If you are in such a situation, this book will guide you through the process. The payoff can be very big and, once in place it is easily maintained. Five star recommendation for this book. Keep it on you desk.
The book is written primarily for the practicing ( or would-be) cost accountant or accounting manager. It starts with a discussion of how cost accounting (CA) can be used most effectively to help management. The crux of CA is to improve costs in the organization. Why you need it, what data to collect, how to collect it, what to do with it.
There are 7 parts to the book covering 40 chapters. The shorter segments allow the reader to quickly locate important information without digging through the index. This is a very handy feature that most accounting tomes don't address. The book addresses;
The Purpose of Cost Accounting, Role of Cost Accounting, Cost Accountant's Job, Ethics (Really!), Costing Systems and Data Collection, Data Collection Systems, Timekeeping, Chart of Accounts, Cost Accounting Software, Paper-based documents, Costing Methodologies, Job Costing, Process Costing, Direct Costing, Standard Costing, Last-in-first-out (LIFO), FIFO and Average costing, Throughput Costing, Joint and by-product costing, Activity-based costing, Target costing, Costing systems summary (which is most (and least) useful, Using Costs in Pricing, Variance and Operational Analysis, Variances, Spoilage, waste and scrap, Cost-volume-profit, Analysis reporting, Managing Costs, Control Systems, Capital budgeting, Capacity management, Material requirements planning (MRP), Just-in-time (JIT), Quality, Cost variability, Pricing Issues, Transfer pricing, Pricing laws, Corporate strategy, Benchmarking, Valuing inventory, Best practices, Budgeting, Service environments, Spreadsheets, Taxation, Fraud, and a Bibliography and Glossary. Very comprehensive.
This is a quite an array of problems the book addresses. It is a highly recommended reference for the practicing Cost Accountant, or anyone for that matter who wants to know where to start controlling their own costs. Let's face it. All the really easy problems, in your company, have probably been resolved long ago. What's left are opportunities waiting to be discovered.

The best part aside from the content is they are very moderately priced. You can also purchase the whole 15 book series the isbn number is 0-910627-26-6. Customer Reviews:
What a great little book!.......2006-01-13
I wish I'd had something like this when I was working in the food service industry. This book, with brief bullet points that still manage to spell out the practical details as necessary, gives the seasoned restaurateur hundreds of tips on how to cut costs--everything from trimming energy expenses (run the water supply for your ice machine through the refrigerator or freezer to pre-cool it) [...] It seems like it would be very practical to copy pages out of the book and include them in your employee training packets or post them in the kitchen. I've found that the more employees understand the reasons behind your policies--and the big differences they make on profit margins and customer satisfaction--the more likely they are to follow them. The book has tips for all parts of the food service industry, from fast food to fine dining, and states the reasoning behind each tip in a way that would be easy to explain to others. The book is well written, clearly organized, and includes a helpful index. If you're looking for something specific, you should be able to find it in moments. I would recommend this to any food-service business looking to increase its profit margins and willing to do the planning and work necessary to make it happen. This is not a quick fix book (although quite a few of the tips would take little time or money to implement), but a thorough and honest guide on how to cut costs over the long run.
Great Book.......2002-10-12
Great Book! I Found These step-by-step guides easy-to-read, and easy to understand! The books are packed with information. They reminded me of "cliff Notes" from my college days. The information is comprehensive without the fluff you find in so many of the more expensive books out there on the subject. The books are also packed with resources such as phone numbers and the web sites of the companies they are discussing - there is no "theory" just great information.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......2007-05-06
I am not exactly sure why this book has never been reviewed. I found it in a public library. It is superb. I am doing a cost of capital project, and I happened to have checked this book out before. I found that it summed up many things from all the finance classes I have taken, including the assumptions that are always used in finance theory. Some people just take it that these assumptions are always correct. Obviously this is not so. I will not go into detail--just buy the book. I will, and this shows how it is really a good idea for an author to send out books to public libraries. I would not have known about this otherwise, and this is the first review of Amazon--which is another good source to find out about unknown books. Sometimes you can find out things from publisher's description on Amazon, but this is all very time-consuming.
