When Nelson Bell started using Allen's methods, she made her first million in less than six months. Now she teaches seminars herself. Combining her insider's secrets about how women can play to their strengths in the real estate market with Allen's proven strategies for success, they tell you everything you need to know about how to:

- Buy a house without getting a loan
- Boost your credit savviness for better borrowing
- Identify a great property that will make you a big return
- Negotiate with real estate agents, buyers, and sellers

The authors provide scripts for talking to buyers and sellers, templates for writing a great sales ad, methods for doing quick and easy financial calculations, and handy checklists of to-dos. Nothing Down for Women.......2007-07-30
This book teaches you about Real Estate Investing in basic steps. The chapter assignments demonstrate the simplicity of the writer's strategies.
Naysayers abound-- must be powerful stuff!!.......2007-04-03
I was appalled to read the purported review by Publishers Weekly. I truly thought the days when the worn out out down of female power by labeling it/us as "shrill" were over.
But then I realized-- this means it really rang the reviwer's chimes. He -- and I have never heard a woman call another women shrill--would have felt no need to default to imitation and cheap shots if there were not something important going on here.
For anyone who has read the book or spoken to Karen, this accusation needs no rebuttal. For those who dare to believe there can be a better way to get ahead than the "dog eat dog" way-- be aassured there is a better way, it is being done, and you will know in your heart if this is right for you.
and for the record-- reviewers far more expert than PW have had glowing words for this book. And so do I.

Too idealistic. The moon has to be aligned with Jupiter before some of the methods in this book work for an investor!
Demystifies "nothing down" techniques and makes them accessible!.......2007-02-27
Have other books or seminars on "nothing down" real estate investing left you feeling confused or overwhelmed? Here is the antidote! KNB's flair for patient explanation clarifies the vocabulary and processes related to investing in real estate using none of your own money. If you read only one book on real estate this year -- regardless of your gender -- reach for this one! If you don't have time (who does?), do like KNB says and take it in the bathroom with you. The principles described in the book will actually SAVE you time because you'll understand how to quickly discard non-deals, and focus on those that will increase your short- or long-term wealth. Just heeding the advice at the bottom of page 27 can make you bundles of equity/cash (but don't stop there; read the whole thing! Each information-rich page singularly makes purchasing the book worthwhile). I know because I have done it. Having been personally trained by KNB since 2004, I am living proof that these techniques work. Do yourself a favor and read this book to find out how you can make them work for YOU!
Karen Nelson Bell has "cracked the code" of making the complex easy to understand and apply..........2007-02-26
I have read many books and attended numerous seminars on a variety of subjects. There are two main challenges that I've observed with some of these: 1. The information (with facts and figures) is given in very large "chunks", which can be rather intimidating and time consuming, and 2. There seems to be an assumption of a prior base of knowledge, including a whole new vocabulary and vernacular, which many new students simply don't have.
Karen Nelson Bell very eloquently and elegantly addresses these issues. Each 5 minute "helping" of each subject is easily digestible and includes a complete glossary of new terms as well as a "quiz wizard" that makes sure the lesson is fully understood and action steps taken before moving on to the next helping. Karen's personality and humor make creating a potential new source of income uncomplicated and fun.
As a man and a very busy entrepreneur, I've got to say that even though it says "for women", this system is perfect for men on the go. It has given me a new perspective on real estate investing, and has removed any concern about economic climate.
If you've ever wanted to look into the rewards of real estate investing, but had doubts of any sort - you owe it to yourself to buy this wonderful book.

A Woman's Guide to Investing.......2007-01-05
The information in the book provides a good foundation. However, I found the book annoying to read because each page was broken up with different illustrations and sections that were not conducive for my style of reading.

Customer Reviews:
A solid stock investment book .......2007-08-25
First of all, I have something to say about the negative reviews. Some are totally inaccurate (no wonder these folks lose money.) One person said he lost money on commissions and taxes when he was stopped out at a 10% loss. Yes, you have to pay commission, but you don't pay tax on losses. Get your facts straight even when you lie. I couldn't find the name Peter Lynch mentioned anywhere in her book like this person claimed. As far as the 10% stop loss, who says you have to keep it at exactly 10%? Investing is an art, not a science. You adapt to better deal with your particular situation.
Now on with the review, I have read over 20 books on the stock market, and I found this little book one of the most useful. The method in book is very similar to the one advocated by William O'neal. Some call it momentum investing. This method is more of a short-term or swing trading strategy than long-term investing. What makes this book a standout is she takes the time to explain difficult concepts in simple terms that beginners could understand. She even takes the time to show the readers how to use a calculator to find various values of a stock. Additionally, she includes many useful websites to aid people in their search for stocks to invest. She also did a good job explaining fundamental and technical analysis at the basis level.
The strategy recommended is solid and is used and tested by traders and investors everyday. The language used to explain this investing concept to the readers is clear. I recommend this book.
Easy to understand.......2006-03-25
Great book!! Makes it easy to learn the important facsts about the stock market and trading.
ready now.......2005-01-05
I have the audio cassette version of this book. I've learned so much by listening to it. She makes such great everyday comparisons to help understand the market and the terminology. Its a terrific overall guide to gain confidence in yourself and begin to invest in the stock market. The whole investing environment can be so intimidating and she has removed that with this book allowing even those who doubted ever becoming an investor to now be one. Listening to the audio version her voice is very animated and clear, even humorous in her examples. Highly recommend this for both men & women, even teens. Thank you Ms. Stav for taking the mystery out of it all.
Wow! Julie made it so darn understandable........2003-12-30
I couldn't believe how Wall Street has made understanding investing so complicated, when it's not.
Julie has taken a so called difficult subject and made it really simple to follow. In fact, as simple as 1-2-3 and A-B-C.
Now I can talk the Wall Street lingo with the Big Boys, while laughing all the way to the bank.
Thanks, Julie.
Get your share of money and publicity!.......2003-08-24
Businessmen and politicians learned long ago that getting the money and publicity go hand-in-hand. Not just any publicity, but solid personal publicity. If we want people to value our abilities, we must first show that we value ourselves - by making sure our accomplishments are visible to targeted audiences. If we want people to invest in our companies, to buy from us, or to hire and promote us into the corner office, they have to know who we are, what we have accomplished and why they should do business with us! Self-promotion is a valuable business tool that businesswomen MUST add to their strategies for success. Following a careful step-by-step process will help even the most timid become comfortable with the concept of self-promotion. (from Marion E. Gold, award-winning author of "The Personal Publicity Planner: A Guide to Marketing YOU")

Customer Reviews:
Truly Inspiring.......2007-02-16
I read this book cover to cover in one sitting - it is that engaging. The author has been through so many ups and downs in her career journey, yet, you come away knowing she has just become all the stronger. I personally am not the best when it comes to prioritizing and can easily procrastinate and do the things that are comfortable verusus challenging at times. This book inspired me to stop that! It's a great idea to tackle the tough stuff early in the day. I also love her tips on staying grounded and learning to laugh at yourself. Overall, I was really inspired by this guide and highly recommend it to all working women.
A MUST READ FOR ALL!!!.......2007-01-20
Whether you are a woman, man, adult, child, business owner, employee, city girl or farmer, there is much to be gained by reading this guide. And men, you dont have to make the excuse you found it on your wife's night table!
The principles, challenges and ideas in this book are very real for anyone who lives on this planet. As someone who for the past ten years has been an eyewitness to the events and actions that gave rise to this book, i can unconditionally attest that the only thing more real than the book, is the author. Happy readings!
I Get Knocked Down.......2007-01-18
I thoroughly enjoyed Eva's humorous, but no - nonsense suggestions to getting yourself on track or keeping yourself on track once "life happens" and things get you off course!
A must read.......2006-12-13
I loved the book. I can relate to so many things she addressed in the book. I love the part about knowing your worth, and I have never realized what I was worth until I read that chapter. Thank you for that.
Once again Thank you for saying what a lot of us as WOMAN are afraid to say.
Great Motivational Guide.......2006-11-29
This book is always in my pocketbook. I have read it twice in its entirety already but have gone back to certain chapters for the pick-me-up I needed depending on what was going on in my day. Certain chapters like "Don't Forget to Laugh" and "Decide Your Self-Worth" are very motivational and uplifting! Every woman should have this.
Book Description
For those who believe money is money, whether you are male or female, The New Working Woman's Guide to Retirement Planning shows why saving for retirement is different--and difficult--for women. Martha Priddy Patterson offers practical advice and usable solutions to the retirement planning obstacles women have to overcome.
Although women are gaining equal pension coverage with men and women's wages are ever slowly increasing, the need for retirement saving and planning, for both women and men, has never been greater. Through her professional and personal experiences, Patterson--an attorney who has spent 15 years specializing in employee benefits law--found that women were not paying attention to their financial retirement future. Case studies of four women at different stages of their lives, with a variety of careers and career patterns, demonstrate how retirement benefits grow--or disappear.
This new edition contains current up-to-the-minute information on new retirement planning options such as Roth IRAs, cash balance plans, SIMPLE plans, enhanced coverage of 401(k) plans, and the future of Social Security.

Tops in My Book!.......2000-06-03
I read "The Working Woman's Guide to Retirement Planning" several years ago and was surprised to learn of the many reasons why women need to save for retirement differently from men. I put together my own retirement plan after reading it and now I'm retiring and taking my RV on the road for the next few years. I've read the updated version, "The New Woman's Guide to Retirement Planning," and hope many other women get as much out of it as I did the first one.
Lots of meat!.......2000-05-05
As a financial advisor who specializes in working with women, I am so happy to see something for the general consumer that has a lot of meat to it. Usually most of the retirement information gets briefly mentioned and then brushed aside with a note that it's important stuff and you need to understand it--but there's usually no help given on how to understand it! This book provides the help in an easy to read and understand format. Love it!
Planning now to make the most of the years after the 9-to-5.......1999-12-17
The tone of this book is both frank and positive in discussing the reasons working women may have a harder time saving adequately for retirement than men do and showing how women can make the choices now to take this matter into their own hands and solve it. I wanted to skim the book and summarize its high points, but the details were too good and I can only say, if you are a working woman, you will want to read this book now.
