A MUST HAVE FOR EVERYONE.......2007-05-13
I LOVE IT! I recieved this book about a month ago and it was the best and smartest purchase I've ever made. My husband and I were looking to move to another house, but because of some financial hardship two years ago his credit score had dropped. We called one of the "credit repair compainies" and found it would cost over $700 just for a couple of months service. I felt that price was too high. So I decided since this is something we could do ourselves why not give it a try. I started reading and highlighting the book 10 minutes after I got it. This book has something for everyone, it doesn't matter if you are trying to build credit, going thru a Bankruptcy or being pressured by collections. GET THIS BOOK. Our score has already jumped 40 points in the first month, and keeps rising. I believe in a year we will have a score of 800. It is really helpful and I can not say enough wounderful things about how much money this book will save us in the future.
If you are on a time crunch to raise your credit score I advise (from personal experience) to pull your credit report from all three bureaus before you get the book.
The best $67.00 I have ever spent.......2006-07-17
Greetings To All. I would rate this book a perfect 10 if I could. I want to take this time to let everyone know that the information in this book is allowing me to truly understand the various credit laws, FICO & Vantage scores, ways to fight incorrect information on your credit report and so much more. My credit score is now in the mid-600's. It increased about 80 points. I was able to obtain a Chase Mastercard and a VISA as well. I am learning how to use these credit cards to build my buying power. This book shows you all the do's and things to avoid. I have no doubt that the Credit Secrets Bible is going to help me get a credit score of 800 after I have made bad decisions regarding my credit. At first, I was skeptical, but my sister ensured me it was worth it. I am so glad I did! Still not convinced, email me @
anitragipson@yahoo.com. I am not lying because it really works. It really works!

Excellent Credit Repair Resource.......2006-01-12
This book is worth every penny I paid. 100% as advertised. I was able to remove several items off of my credit report and increased my FICO score by 48 points in one month! This ended up getting me a loan on my new car at 3.9% instead of 7.5% I'll end up saving over $3000 over the 60 months for the loan. One wish - can you make a hardcover edition of this book? I used mine so much it's falling apart! I have more highlighted paragraphs in this book than I do in my regular church bible. Go figure. Again, thanks for such a great resource!

Must have for anyone with poor credit!.......2007-09-24
This is one of the best books I have read yet about credit repair. Gives many, many helpful pointers to not only help fix your credit, but to also put you in a position where you can actually start to use the good credit you rebuild and start to make tremendous changes that can help to grow your assets. I strongly reccomend this book!
Added 6-figures in extra credit in 60 days........2007-03-01
By the Way, I post my reviews with my real name--I notice the "critics" have not.
I guess battling books is like the weather--people sure like to blow hard and cause storms.
I've know Donna Fox since 1999-2000, I made the mispellings in the preface of the book :) But most importantly, I use the strategies. If it weren't for these strategies some of the hard times might have wiped me out.
However, because of good use of credit and getting the credit I needed before I needed it...I'm here today and doing fine.
In fact, I've added 6-figures in additional credit with 3 new credit cards (Carnival Cruse, PayPal, and Amazon Books--ironically), as well as, a large business line-of-credit.
Right now, I have some of that money on the street earning me significant rates of return and servicing any personal debt.
For someone to think these strategies are bad because someone harms themselves not using good due dilligence is like thinking fire is bad because someone lost their home to it...
The odds are with the Credit Millionaires--and the negative odds are with the Credit Million-Fears. I'm sure glad I'm in the first category.
Credit Millionaire? Sorry, not even close..........2006-08-26
I received this book as a gift and I'm glad I didn't have to shell out the high price it costs. I've spent less money for really worthwhile books and tons of time on free credit-building websites with forums that ACTUALLY help people get business credit or repair their credit.
This book does not.
(The idea of being a credit millionaire is very tempting, it sounds like it's much easier to borrow a million dollars than to save it up over years and years, possibly to invest in a business or real estate. The truth is, after talking to quite a few true multi-millionaire real estate investors and entrepreneurs, they all agree that following some of the ideas in this book can show you how to easily lose not only all of your borrowed money but everything you owned BEFORE you took out massive loans. Please consider yourself warned, I know of at least 2 families (1 was a friend, the other through our Church) that have lost everything doing exactly what is described in this book. I was appalled that the author included these 'techniques' in this book.)
Personally, I have had 2 years of experience fighting bad credit because someone stole my identity (Always use a diamond-cut shredder on important documents!!) and have been to HELL and back with the credit card companies, trying to get my business credit back up to par while managing a growing business and family.
While fighting to get my business credit back up, I had a small arsenal of credit books and resources at my disposal. Would this book have helped? Sorry, no. This book rambles on and on and talks about secrets that are never shared (trust me, I couldn't find these darn secrets anywhere). And there are even a few glaring mistakes in the book. Last time I was at my lawyer's office, I brought the book and asked him if these indeed were mistakes as I thought, and he laughed and said "yeah, that could definitely do some damage." That was the final nail in the coffin.
I really wish this book could be better and I feel bad, but I simply cannot give it any more than 1 star - I hope the author learns from this book and makes something better next time, at least not about credit. To everyone else, find cheaper, better made books by experts (I and others will agree Dana Neal has the best credit book out there) and also go to google and type in Bankrate and if you find the web site I did (it should be first in the results) well, you can thank me later :D

My score went from 602 to 729 in 7 months.......2006-07-25
This book is extremely helpful to real estate investors like me. My credit card was maxed out for down payment and repair on aquiring rental houses. I have always paid on time but the score drop from 700s to 600s. I can't get real mortgages! However, following her system and technics, I was able to effectively increase the score to 720s within 7 months, best score ever!
Tremendously Helpful Resource.......2006-05-06
Money matters can seem complicated and confusing. This book helped me make sense of how credit works. It has taught me how to use credit wisely and to my advantage. My thanks to the author.

Excellent resource for credit improvement........2007-06-19
This was a wonderful book full of lots of details on how credit works. There are lots of tips on how to improve one's credit and a good discussion of budgeting, identity theft, and dealing with collectors.
I'd recommend this to anyone who needs help with their finances.
Easy to read.......2007-06-07
This books flows very easily for the credit novice. I recommend it to anyone looking to understand how your financial decisions will eventually catch up to you...
A Must-read for college students.......2006-12-21
As a financial planner and co-author of Making Bread: The Ultimate Financial Guide for Women Who Need Dough, I recommend this book for every college student. They need to know how to use credit wisely and this book will help them understand how it can be done. More importantly, students will learn what happens when they abuse credit. Few, if any, understand how bad credit will affect their future ability to borrow money. Money management should be a required course for college students. It is not, and they go into the adult world as financial illiterates. This book will open their eyes to what can happen.

Americans need to read this book!.......2006-11-30
As a clinical psychologist and author specializing in the psychology of personal finance and the treatment of money disorders, I strongly recommend this book for anyone struggling with debt, and everyone who would like to avoid credit problems in the future. Steve Bucci is THE expert in helping people avoid and recover from excessive debt, and this book does not disappoint. The Credit Repair Kit For Dummies offers an in-depth, comprehensive, and enjoyable read chock-full of useful information. Given that last year more women filed for bankruptcy than graduated from college, and more children saw their parents file for bankruptcy than divorce, this book should be required reading in every high school in America. In fact, I think our elected "Dummies" in D.C. desperately need to learn and apply Mr. Bucci's principles in their management of America's finances.
Excellent Information Source for All Users of Credit.......2006-10-12
This book helped me get back to the basics of managing my credit - because unbeknownst to and forgotten by many, credit indeed needs to be managed! Also the chapter on budgeting was very useful. Stephen Bucci uses wit and simple everyday language to make the book not only easy to understand and follow, but also engaging. A good purchase for those who need a refresher or reference for real life credit related problems!

Could be better..........2007-07-17
This book doesn't give enough information about how and what negative items to dispute on your credit report to raise your credit score.
This is a good "how-to" book........2007-07-15
This book is informative and helpful for readers looking to improve or repair their credit. Although, do not be mislead with the title, this product is not a "quick-fix" for your credit troubles.
I found the information to be helpful and informative and the response letters well written all of which are helpful with achieving your goals of good credit.
Practical and Useful.......2006-08-19
This book is wonderful for someone with no knowledge of credit. It walks you through the entire process. Recommended!
Complete guide.......2005-07-11
Terrific book that covers everything you need to know about understanding credit, budgeting your money, getting your credit report, fixing your credit, preventing identity theft, etc. It's written in an easy to understand way and has a CD with all the forms which is really convenient.

This book has given me financial freedom.......2007-09-07
I was in a big mess. Without going into details - I owed almost $95,000, my yearly income is $45,000 before tax, and I am supporting a family of 3. I live in New York. My apartment rent alone is $1,100. Owed amount was getting bigger and bigger because of the interest. Obviously, I wasn't eligible any kind of loan.
No money to hire an expert. I didn't have money to buy many different books. Luckily the one I picked was the right book. Now, I had the will and I had the right book. I owe only $7,000 now. My total credit limit from different credit cards is now $175,000. My bank is willing to give me loan. Didn't happen overnight or it didn't happen without any work on my part -- but it did work out with the help of this book.
Thank you, Mr. Kelly.
A good book to help YOU get started.......2007-07-12
This book is very helpful. To the reviewers who said there were a bunch of useless forms in the book....yeah if you don't use them. I mean he tells you what to do, gives you a form to go by all you have to do is work towards your goal...getting that credit score up. What do we expect our credit scores to go up just by purchasing/reading the book? You have to do something.
pretty good - I rate it a solid 3.5.......2006-07-09
Pros - easy to read and concise; good tips on how to establish and re-establish credit; good job explaining the credit reporting process and the importance of credit and the three types of lenders (prime, subprime, and secondary).
Cons - does not include info about credit scoring; steps for fixing credit are too cumbersome for the average consumer to follow; tips for how to strengthen credit are ineffective, outdated, misleading - such as having account added to your credit record - the agencies don't do that anymore. incorrect data about the length of time chapter 13 bankruptcies stay on credit reports; sample letters are too vague.
The book could have been more detailed to help readers fully grasp credit. It's a good introdution to credit that wiill leave you seeking more information. recommendation - The Insider's Guide to credit Repair by K.E. Varner and Your Credit Score by Liz Weston.
Sucked........2006-01-09
I'm giving this two stars, because it's better then nothing, but it's just a giant listing of form letters and a boring algorithm to follow. I suppose it might actually work, but it doesn't give you an insight or knowledge you can use to work the system like the Gorilla Guide does. I ordered the two books at once figuring I'd read both, and this one flat out sucked.
Solid info. Easy to read.......2005-08-02
This book is great if you want to challenge inaccurate or "old" credit files reported by the big three agencies. The book provides a plethera of letters & follow-up letters to challenge the false reports. In addition, it offers up ways to negotiate payment plans w/your creditors.

Customer Reviews:
Stuff and fluff.......2007-08-22
Save your money. Stuffed with appendices of legislation pertaining to credit industry. Poorly written and worse editing with mispellings and repetition.
Falls short and instills fear of credit bureaus.......2006-07-09
The main idea of this book is that credit reporting is an unfair process to consumers and more legislation is needed to regulate the industry. The authors paint a grim picture of credit agencies and leads you to believe you should be afraid of them. First of all the book is severely outdated. The book falls short due to the amount of mis-information. For example, it convinces readers that anyone that requests their credit report can obtain one; it advises that credit reports are reviewed when a person applies to college and convinces readers that credit reports are so personal that they contain information about a person's grooming habits. LOL - come one, get serious! The book is outdated and at least half of it focuses on trying to teach readers how to manipulate the credit-reporting system to have correct data removed from a credit report. In addition, the book is full of contradictions. It claims that credit reporting is done to punish, even torment consumers and that it's unfair, but a few pages later, the authors state that the intricate system ultimately benefits consumers. Which is it?! It also suggest readers partake in illegal activity in order to obtain a credit report like the ones creditors receive. It tells them to pose as a landlord or employer. This is illegal! Unless you're a deadbeat with low morals, this book is not for you. I'd recommend The Insider's Guide to Credit Repair by K.E. Varner for more useful, practical advice.
This book should be $5.00 - its like a good pamphlet.......2006-02-05
This book was disappointing. Buying a book without being able to browse it beforehand makes it difficult to know if its what you want. If I would have been able to skim through this book prior to buying, I would not have bought it. It's not that it's bad, it's just that its not what I needed or the title implied. It is not a comprehensive book at all. The title "guerrilla" makes you think it will offer unique, aggressive, insightful, strategic, or uncommonly known tactics to attack your credit repair. It absolutely fell short of that. But what it does deliver is very detailed, easy to follow understanding of BASIC information (what credit is, how to contact the bureaus, what type of letters to send, etc.) It gives you a decent strategy on how to dispute items on your CR. A huge shortcoming for this book is that 100 pages of the 200 page book was given to printing the FCRA (fair credit reporting act). Helpful but a waste. Instead of giving us some "guerrilla tactics" for 100 pages, they print the act instead. If you are really trying to repair your credit and you need real life information and real "guerrilla" tactics then you MUST prepare yourself mentally (it can get legal, psychological and emotional) and use the vast amounts of FREE information and FREE resources available online. Try joining FREE online communities/forums. Avoid people capitalizing on your despair with over-priced credit repair books, credit repair kits, pay-for services (i.e. now bankrupt AmeriDebt) or other books where gazillionaires bloviate about how rich and debt-free THEY are. Good for you. People with poor financial situations and poor credit do need inspiration but people also need practical aggressive ways to get their backs from against the wall. In conclusion, you'd be better off researching online for a few weeks, seeking FREE professional opinions, or checking out books like this one from the library.
Sound Advice that Works but...........2005-04-25
Updating would be a good thing with recent changes in the FCRA. I read the reviews by others before I read the material myself. Seeing that other reviewers had looked into Bill Bauer who claimed to be an expert on the topic and gave a very negative review and I saw the book was sound raised my curiousity level and I Googled him as well. I think a new book about him would make fascinating reading. Please do not take the negative reviews seriously. They have an agenda.
what it boils down to.......2005-02-22
I am writing in response to someone who gave this book a bad rec. do to the book not telling him what the cb's use to calc your individual score. The fact is nobody knows. All 3 use their own system and they aint tellin. Besides many creditor will use other data on cb report, not just the score. best you can do is make sure cb info is correct and make all pmts by due dates.

Great info!.......2007-08-12
As some others have mentioned, most of the information in this book is available for free. However, for the price, having useful, effective information like this in an easy to use format is well worth it.
Very Little Useful Information .......2007-04-30
This book provided very little information thats is not already available for free. Do a search on credit repair or credit reporting and you will get all the information you need on the internet.
The entire credit reporting act was quoted. Rather than a useful interpretation, the reader is left to go through 50+ pages of legaleze. BTW, the law is public, therefore can be found without buying the book -- which adds no additional value.
Credit Repair 7th edition.......2006-04-10
I found this book to be very informative and helpfull. I have used it has a guide in helping repair my own credit. I recommend it to many.

Of course this kind of result isn't going to happen over night, any one who tells you otherwise is lying or doing something illegal. THERE ARE NO LEGAL QUICK FIXES!!! I've tried many different methods to improve my credit but following the advice in this book is the only one that worked for me. It even contains a CD-ROM with pre-made forms and letters that help to make the process as easy and painless as possible. Credit Repair was worth every cent!
Helped Me Too.......2003-03-03
I used this book and cd, in 1 day my credit score went up after I disputed several items

Inside Secrets from a Credit Industry Professional
There are a plethora of books out there promising to show consumers how to repair their credit. There is only one that explains how to establish credit, how to maintain and manage it, and, yes, how to fix it when it's broken The Insider's Guide to Credit Repair.
This much-needed book is current, cohesive, and thorough. It begins with the basics-defining credit, explaining its value to consumers and businesses, and introducing the key parties that keep the process successfully operatingbut then covers more complex topics, including credit laws, credit scoring, credit repair and identity theft. Most noteworthy and helpful are the short quizzes after each chapter, a comprehensive glossary, and a wide variety of sample letters.
The Insider's Guide to Credit Repair is an engaging and thought-provoking discussion of consumer credit from an insider's perspectivethe author is a former instructor for one of the national credit-reporting agencies. The scope of the material is as vast as the author's industry experience, accommodating the beginner trying to establish credit for the first time and more experienced consumers seeking greater knowledge of all aspects of credit.
K.E. Varner is a former instructor of customer-service personnel for Equifax, one of the three major credit-reporting agencies. During his tenure, he functioned as a subject matter expert in a number of high-level business projects, appeared in Federal court to help resolve consumer/credit-reporting agency conflict, and facilitated credit industry information to organizations such as the Atlanta Housing Authority.

Excellent Book.......2007-02-12
I found this book very helpful and honest. It builds upon knowledge that you may already have on credit repair, and is a great resource for someone just tackling their credit.
Very well written and informative.......2006-07-09
I've read many books on credit and this is one of the better ones. I like the fact that you can read what applies to you if you choose. You don't have to read the entire book from front to back but i'd recommend it for complete understanding.
It's very easy to follow, up-to-date, comprehensive. Highlights- a great chapter on credit scoring and improving your score; a good section on finding a good credit counselor; establishing and re-establishing credit, negotiating with collectors and I liked the tests after each chapter. The only thing I would have like more of is some negotiating tips but overall it's good.
I'd recommend Liz Weston's Your Credit Score as well.
Complete Understanding.......2006-05-19
This book is definately informative. It not only helps you understand ways to repair your credit, but gives you knowledge of how to make responsible decisions in using credit. It covers every aspect of credit from the major players, credit scores, and how to reestablish and establish credit.
Great Book-very informative.......2005-10-06
This book is a must read!! If you know anyone that has credit or financial issues, teenagers about to graduate from HS and college age kids-this would be a great gift for any occasion. Kids need to be informed now before they go out and start opening credit accounts they will later regret. They need to be educated on how to establish and maintain a great credit rating. Parents can use this as a guide. Buy it and read it for yourself. I am happy I have this book and look forward to sharing it and all that I have learned from it.
This Is The Only Credit Guide You Need.......2005-08-13
I read this book and was amazed by the amount of information it gave. This author hits every area of credit that people need help with. Everything from credit scores to id theft is covered here and in great detail. It even gives little quizes at the end of each chapter to help you retain the info. The best part is that the chapters are so well segmented that you can just flip to the area you need help with and go from there.
This book by far is the best credit guide out there today. The ones I've read in the past just touch on certain things here and there, but this author really gives you what you need. I'm buying copies for each of my college children. It is highly recommended!
Customer Reviews:
Misleading & Essentially Useless.......2006-03-19
This is a poor book. As soon as you read something like "instant credit repair" you should immediately begin looking elsewhere.
I will be honest with you, credit repair is neither instant (it takes time), nor easy. It is very difficult to do, especially with the bogus information given in this book.
The author gives the popular, _urban legend_ information about how to reapir your credit by disputing with Credit Reporting Agencies, Collection Agencies, and Original Creditors.
But to be honest, after I had severely damaged my credit back in '00, I tried these methods contained in this book ... to little avail. In some instances, it hurt my credit and made things more difficult. The collection agencies and credit reporting agencies know all these tricks ... every novice in the work bought one of these books and tried in on them.
The approach by all these authors is highly ineffective and in many cases, will merely alert the collection agencies and credit reporting agencies what you are up to ... and that you don't know what you are doing.
Like I mentioned in my last review, a way is needed to get leverage (like with a Wrench) over the CRAs, CAs, and OCs to get your credit cleaned up. Once I learned how to get leverage, I then was able to clean my credit ... and it was still difficult. What can that way be?, you ask.
Excellent Resource.......2005-11-28
This book is an excellent resource meant for anyone who is interested in repairing their credit. The form letters are extremely helpful and the step by step guidelines move you through the entire process. My credit has never been better.
Very Helpful Book.......2005-11-28
I read this book and it answered a lot of my questions. It was very clear, and easy to understand. I plan on following the instructions in this book to make sure that there are no mistakes on my credit report, and if so, I now know how to fix them. I chose this book because I saw that it was written by a lawyer. I think it is a great tool for everyone to use.
An utter and complete joke.......2005-04-08
Please don't waste your time. This book is written like a poor college exam paper- HUGE type TRIPLE spaced.
It is written this way because the author has nothing to say- except to sell you on calling him for more help.
An internet search will give you more help fixing your credit. AVOID!!
WORST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-02-22
If you need to repair your credit, don't look here. The book if 300 pages, but only 25 pages really pertain to fixing your credit. The rest of the book is telling of different court cases and a copy of the Fair Credit Report that spans 125 pages of useless info. Please don't waste your time or money.... This was terrible. This jim shapiro should be ashamed of himself for actually charging for this.

A Home Security System .......2005-06-19
This is not the feel good book of the summer, it almost scares the pants off of you given the many different ways faceless criminals can rudely interrupt your life with identity theft. This book details out many of the identity theft scams that are prevalent today. It shows you, maybe in a way that is a touch over the top, just how vulnerable you are. On the positive side it also gives you the tools to fight back and the steps you can take to protect yourself. It also instructs you on what you can do if you become an identity theft victim. The book details out how the world of credit operates and your rights and responsibilities.
The current world we live in enables us to be discriminated against in the credit world because of our age, gender or marital status. The privacy of our financial information may be compromised and is so widely disseminated that it is making it more and more vulnerable to identity theft all the time. That is why this book is important, it gives the reader some tools to help us remain safe or at least less vulnerable. Overall the author gives the reader a number of useful and well described tips for how to keep as safe as possible and how to fix problems if they come up. It is a bit on the dramatic side, but if you are a victim of this type of crime then the descriptions are probably right on the mark.
