Customer Reviews:
ACCOUNTING EXCELLENCE.......2007-06-27
We have purchased this for our own use and for the use of family members in the Accounting profession. If you are an accountant, this is a MUST.
Excellent .......2007-05-07
The shipment was timely. The book was in excellent condition. The price was right on time.
Great tool for Staying Current and Developing Staff.......2007-04-01
I have used this series for over ten years and find that it is easy to use and also helpful in developing my staff. It provides them a guideline through the complexities of financial accounting and also a good tool for understanding the Convergence of US GAAP and International Accounting Standards.
Thorough Coverage, Great Price.......2007-03-18
I had been purchasing the Miller GAAP Guide series, but got disgusted when they divided the subjects into 3 or 4 volumes and charged more for each volume than what they used to charge for the single comprehensive book. I decided to give Wiley a try to see if it would meet my needs for about $300 less. So far, it has given a good accounting of itself (pun intended), answering questions on leases, cash flow statements, and auditor reports. Before shelling out the big bucks for Miller or the Prentice Hall books, give Wiley a try. Amazon has the best price that I could find for it, substantially less than the publisher's web site.
Review for the book.......2007-01-12
Such book is the one that I am looking for a long time. In China, I can't find the place to buy such book, and I am very satisfied the service of Amazon. Thanks!

For an enduring understanding of the basic tools and fundamental principles upon which finance is based.
Customer Reviews:
Great textbook.......2006-10-04
I'm usually very critical of textbooks, but this one reads extremely well. It is clearly organized and progresses in a logical manner. The subject material is inherently difficult, but the authors do an excellent job explaining both the common-sense and mathematical basis for each topic. I have no formal background in finance or accounting but I'm doing well in a 300-level course with just this book to thank. Anyone who wants to educate themselves about stock/bond values, interpreting balance sheets, etc, would benefit greatly from this book.
Great Book for a hard course.......2006-03-27
The class is hard no matter what school you attend. The book is easy reading and has many great exercise for you to practice to help you understand the text. The exercises had help me tremendously.
Financial Management : Principles and Applications (10th Edition) .......2005-10-10
The Book was not plastic covered and plus there was no cd included in the book
EXCELENT BOOK.......2005-09-11
This is a very good and updated book. It brings excelent cases and is well designed and easy to read.

Customer Reviews:
Preparation, Preparation, Preparation..........2007-08-23
Well written, easy to use, practical guide to questions you are very likely to hear in your interview. While the claim to provide the "best answers" may be arguable, the questions were on target and the ideas for how one might answer them were excellent. This book is great for those who hire as well as for those who are seeking employment. Worth the investment.
I'm working!.......2007-02-11
I have been out of work for a little over a year, and all my previous employments were temp jobs so I needed to brush up on everything. After reading the reviews I decided to go with this book.
I have never regretted it since and have recommended it to close friends. I kid you not when I say that during my interview I ended up interviewing the interviewer. Before the interview I did what the book said and read up on the company and found out that they had won several awards which I later mentioned to her. Apparently none of the other candidates did their homework b/c she acted impressed over that. I asked questions concerning downsizing, why she chose to work there, how long has she worked for the company, her management style. She was very friendly and very talkative...ended up telling me about her daughter in college, her background (which I found out we were raised in the same country!), etc. Making sure not to discuss salary/benefits with her (something the book recommended and I stuck to until I met the VP who gave me what I asked for) And eventhough I had to be tested after speaking to her, I was confident enough to ask her questions during the test and be honest about things I didn't understand. She even showed me the tricks behind the test! Something the recruiter said was not done with anyone else. The only thing I wished I had done was my homework in salary negotiating. So for those of you out there, do your homework on salary and negotiating tips before the interview! Do get this book for you high school/college grad. It's easy to read, down-to-earth, and for today's job hunters.
Just Okay.......2007-01-28
There was some good information in this book. However, there's very little new infromation that's not available for free somewhere else. What's you're paying for is mainly the time it took the author to compile the infromation gathered from numerous places. Most people serious enough to buy a book like this probably won't have a problem finding work anyway.
Land your dream job!.......2006-11-24
I bought this book because I was told of pending layoffs due to selling a division of the company. I had been there almost 5 years, so I definitely needed to get a review on my Interviewing skills.
This book prepared me with questions that might be asked, possible answers and questions that cannot be asked. I especially liked Ch.10 "Stress Questions" These type questions really make you think about your career, where you've been and where you intend to go. Answers to these questions, I feel, enable you to elaborate on other questions that might be asked during an interview. It really is about the applicant as a whole and what you have to offer that company.
This book helped me land my dream job (seriously) and I hope it does the same for you!
A good book to review when looking for a job.......2006-11-21
If for nothing else the books forces you to review your work history and have every bit of information about your self available.
The numerous questions will help anyone become more familiar with one's self and be able to answer most any question without hesitation. This book does not have ALL the questions, but just reading through it and answering the ones present forces you to be aware of all your experience (good and bad). Now that you know your "work experience" you can turn it into a resume and better sell your self.
The book was a definite help for me.

Customer Reviews:
GREAT BOOK.......2007-03-11
This book is a must for any welder. It is filled with info. and the price is unbeatable!
Excellent Reference Manual.......2007-03-09
This isn't the kind of book you give a quick read. It is more like a class text or reference book if you are welding now. I love it and have already gotten good use from it.
Welding principles.......2006-11-06
This is a college course book but it has much information about welding. Very good for a reference book. Wish I could get the workbook and answers.
Welding: Principles and Applications.......2006-03-29
Book was in very good condition. Prompt shipment. Ordered on a Friday, recieved on Monday. Very happy. Will definitley do business with this person again if such a need arises.
Extremely thorough theory, could use some practical guidelines.......2005-10-14
This is book is basically a college text on welding-- and a fine one at that. It covers the theory of all the major welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-cored) in dazzling detail with beautiful color photos and diagrams. This includes some simple-to-understand physics of each welding process, explanations of various types of welding equipment, weld joint designs, welding positions, weave patterns, etc. If you read this book cover-to-cover, you will have a thorough grasp of all the theoritical aspects of welding. No other text even comes close to this book in these areas.
The book is short on practical advice in some areas, perhaps because it is intended to be used alongside an instructor. Numerous example excercises are given for every type of weld process and weld position, but actual welder parameters are strangely missing. For example, if you want to butt weld two pieces of 1/8" steel using stick welding, then a)what is a good diameter electrode to try, b)what is a good welding current? The book doesn't really say, it's left up to the reader to experiment on his own and determine by trial and error what works best.
The author probably takes this approach delibrately because he knows that the best way to become the most proficient welder is to learn by experimentation, rather than following tables in a book every time you want to weld something. But beginner welders will undoubtedly find this approach frustring at times when you just want some general guidelines on where to start on selecting electrode size, amperage, voltage, wire-feed-speed, etc.

Customer Reviews:
Corporate Finance.......2007-07-13
I purchased this textbook for a class. The class is kind of advanced and I am having to teach myself from the book. Unfortunately, the book does not give very many examples and only shows the simplest equations then expects to be able to solve the harder ones. Overall, the book is not very helpful/ user friendly.

Book Description
Put all the pieces of effective leadership together.
One piece of a puzzle on its own is meaningless. But when all the pieces come together, a picture takes shape, and the puzzle makes sense. The same is true in studying leadership. If you try to learn leadership by only looking at a single theory or approach, you only get one piece of the overall picture.
That's why Practicing Leadership, Third Edition features contributions from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, management, communications, military science, the quality movement, political science, and philosophy. The text takes you on a unique journey through the key paradigms that have helped shape some of today's most widely respected world leaders. Along the way, you'll explore essays by James Kouzes, Barry Posner, and Stephen Covey, along with profiles of such real-world leaders as Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, John Wooden, Sam Walton, and Colin Powell.
With Practicing Leadership, Third Edition, you can:
* See how the different leadership pieces fit together with Shriberg's new leadership framework, which presents all the major leadership theories in a coherent and logical manner.
* Prepare yourself to be an effective leader in today's global society, with new and revised coverage of ethics and multiculturalism.
* Examine the roots of leadership through different disciplines, including psychology, communication, philosophy, political science, and management.
* Review current and popular theories as well, as the future trends in leadership.
* Develop your own theory and approach to leadership.
Customer Reviews:
The best written book on leadership I have ever read!.......1998-11-13
Arthur Shriberg's writing style makes it easy for any student of leadership to read!
Book Description
Departing from the encyclopedic nature of most Principles texts, which encourages students to simply memorize concepts and see economics as a collection of unrelated terms, formulas, graphs, and theories, this text provides students with a picture of economics as a unified discipline; a set of interrelated tools and ideas that can be used to look at the world in a different way. This book's concise, less is more approach has been carefully crafted in terms of both content and supporting pedagogy to keep students focused on learning and applying the central ideas used in economic analysis. It uniquely employs a simple methodology throughout to emulate how economists look at problems, and teaches students how to use this same analytical process in developing their own economic analysis skills. Hall/Lieberman's careful focus on core theoretical ideas as well as systematically applying the theoretical tools to interesting real-world questions conveys the message that economics is an integrated, powerful body of knowledge that can be used to address important issues.
Customer Reviews:
A Superb Introduction to Economics.......2006-02-16
The first time I tried to take economics, I gave up. The teacher was no good, and the textbook we were using didn't help. So I put the course off for two years until I couldn't wait any longer.
But things have changed, thank God! The second time around I had a much better teacher, but more than that, we used this textbook instead, and I swear it helped me do well in the class. It is SO clearly written, with great examples and great stories. I admit I was intimidated by economics at first, but this book has a way of explaining the concepts that makes you think, "Hey, I actually get this." The authors give you credit for being an intelligent person, and they provide really clear analysis while walking you through the tougher parts step by step.
As for the review here that talks about the authors' political agenda, I have to come to the authors' defense. I consider myself very middle of the road politically, and believe me, there is nothing objectionable here. The authors are very careful to present both sides of various debates, and those debates are always framed as two sides of a story - and they don't take either side, they just report the controversy and let the reader decide for himself.
After reading this book and taking this course, I feel that I understand the newspaper and TV news much better. So, thanks Robert Hall and Marc Lieberman, I got an A in principles of econ when I thought the best I could hope for was a D.
Nice pictures, bad book.......2005-02-23
I was required to use this book for a college macro course. I found this to be one of the worst business textbooks I've seen so far. I think it fails its job at giving the average college student a good understanding of the macro economy.
When explaining simple concepts that should be easy to grasp, the book loads the reader down with obscure mathematical equations and other gobblygook. On rather complicated topics where additional details would help, they try to condense the topics making it difficult to see the big picture. To figure out what I was supposed to learn, I had to use other sources to help me out (i.e. websites and other business books). I also think the authors are poor at making comprehensible analogies.
Perhaps the most annoying aspect was the author's injected liberal opinion. In a few chapters, they innuendo their griefs about how businesses are unfair to poor people and that successful individuals should have their winnings reallocated to the less privileged. They also gripe about how not everyone can find a job in a capitalist society. It seems that the authors have little understanding of concepts like competition and motivation to be successful.
If you are a course coordinator considering this book for a macroeconomics class, please do your students a favor and seek a different book. As a student, it is more helpful to have a book free of opinions. A book that uses clear explanations rather than confusing lines and charts. If the websites and other sources I used can clearly state the material, so can a textbook!
Superb textbook.......1999-10-15
Easy and fun to use. Excellent blend of academia and real-life examples. Charts, graphs, and illustrations were colorful and easy to understand. Also, authors Hall and Liberman provide readers access to their macroecon website for additional study. I used this text at the postgraduate level - great for undergrads, too.
