Get a behind-the-scenes peek at Why We Want You to Be Rich in this video interview with Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki. They pair talk about their very different backgrounds, their mutual admiration for one another, and how they came up with the idea to write Why We Want You to Be Rich together.
Book Description
The world is facing many challenges and one of them is financial. The entitlement mentality is epidemic, creating people who expect their countries, employers, or families to take care of them. Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki, both successful businessmen, are natural teachers and have joined forces to address these challenges. They believe you cannot solve money problems with money. You can only solve money problems with financial education. Trump and Kiyosaki want to teach you to be rich.
"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
They each could have written a book on the subject, but they chose instead to write a book together because of their shared passion for education and their desire to bring emphasis to the importance of financial education. In addition they have designated a portion of the profits from each book to be donated to charitable and educational organizations that also support financial education.
Why We Want
YOU To Be Rich, Two Men — One Message was written for you.

Do not Buy this what a waste of money take the money you would pay for this and buy lottery tickets and you will be better off.......2007-09-27
most things i listen to or read atleast give me one good idea this is more like a life story rather than how to do anything with it. What a waste of my hard eraned time and money. Do your self a favor and stay away from this USELESS TOOL
Noteworthy.......2007-09-21
This book is awesome. After reading it I have a whole new level of respect for Donald Trump. I salute he and Mr. Kiyosaki for their efforts and their willingness to share with their financial knowledge with the world. I agree, this should be a topic for our children in High School. Our children are our future; we must prepare them. If we don't who will?
No substance, very self serving rants.......2007-09-12
Don't waste your money. This book offers no insight into anything. There are some motivational phrases but that's about it. Trump offers no insight into anything, and just brags upon himself and talks about his family. Kiyosaki's previous work is a lot better than this collaboration. Kiyosaki is starting to sound redundant. All his books are saying the same thing. There is absolutely no "how to" involved in this book. Terrible quality, don't waste your money.
what's worse?.......2007-09-09
I don't know what's worse, the number of bad reviews by everybody here or the fact that so many of the bad reviewers have read Kiyosaki's other books and actually found value in them. If it took you this long to realize Kiyosaki is a shyster then no wonder you're still trying to figure out how to get rich!
Meeting of the rich minds that should meet yours........2007-09-06
I have to admit that this was my first introduction to Robert Kiyosakis writing. I have to say that I was very impressed by the way he tells things in stories and explains things in detail. Then on the other hand you have the Trump perspective on the same issue as just described by Kioysaki, with the classic to the point very short and effective Trump wording. Once again this book could be used for much more than just investing tips and understanding the difference between those who make it and those who don't.
This book could be used to grow both personally and professionally. As a life and executive coach many of the things they talk about in this book are things that I work with small business owners and managers doing. Just a different angle on the how to break free of misconceptions that are known as: "common sense". Just like with many of the other Trump books this is not a step-by-step guide on how to become rich. From what I have now looked through of Kiyosakis books, they are not a step-by-step guide either. Even though they give you more of a guideline and teach you direct things on what to do and more importantly on how to think and break free of how most people do think.
The differences that struck me the most in this book is how the mindset of people that do make it is different from those who do not. It was a very entertaining and educating read, and I personally learned some new things from it that I have implemented not only into my daily life but also my businesses. The way the two use different approaches to the same topic opens up a whole new world of understanding, that is, if you do not quite get what the first part (Kiyosaki) is trying to explain the second part (Trump) will give the abbreviated version of it. Technically you could go though this book and read only one of the authors part and then read the second part as a second book. For it to make the most sense I would recommend that you go through it all at one time though.
Excellent book that I would recommend for more than just investors, would recommend it for entrepreneurs, people wanting to grow personally and professionally. If you are ready to shift the way you think in order to shift how you are doing financially this is a great buy!

Quick Read Can Make a Diffference in Managing Email.......2007-09-26
Taking cue from The One Minute Manager, Zapp!, Fish! and Who Moved My Cheese?, The Hamster Revolution uses a parable to show how to better manage and organize e-mail and information. The hamster represents people endlessly running on the wheel of e-mail. Right away, I start using concepts from the 90-minute book. Considering I'm an organized person, that says something.
In the story, Harold the Hamster receives a visit from an information coach to help him with e-mail and information management. Harold is a person who turned into a hamster because e-mail and information trapped him on a figurative hamster wheel.
Harold and his coach think aloud as they explore his e-mail habits and inbox to find the problem areas. The banter between the two gives the reader insight into why something doesn't work and how to fix it. Their comments mirror what many of us think when we're drowning in messages. Though cheesy at times, the story quickly explains the how, what, and why without confusing readers with dry writing.
I was eager to discover the secret of COTA, the concept for creating folders named Clients, Output, Teams and Administration. COTA also represents the order of priority. The Clients folder receives top honors on the hierarchy than Output. Administration gets thrown to the bottom of the pile where it belongs. But this concept isn't as foolproof as the authors make it sound.
They state that you won't run into a situation when an email or document belongs in two folders. However, if that should happen -- then the document belongs in the one higher up on the COTA ladder. Furthermore, the system serves departments and teams best.
COTA won't work well for personal use (the authors apparently have another system for this, but information isn't available yet) or a small business like mine where I'm a freelancer working on a computer that houses both business and personal information.
Furthermore, not everyone will know what some things mean such as EOM (end of message) or NRN (no reply needed). These require teaching others and a team setting would adapt to that better than a lone person who must explain it in many individuals. EOM and NRN should become as standard as smilies, but they're far from there.
Some advice might sound common sense or old news to some people, but the authors share lesser known or new concepts. The book has had positive impact on my e-mail habits, and for what it is worth, that opinion comes from a long-time e-mail user (the days of BBSes -- pre-Internet).
Great new tips for email.......2007-06-20
Purchased the audio tape for the car. Easy listening and great tips on productivity for managing email overload. Makes you think before you send an email, sculpt it, use categories for easier identification/prioritization and shows new system for filing and finding anything anytime. It worked for me and can warmly recommend to everybody! Join the Hamster Revolution!
I want my 90 minutes back........2007-06-13
If you have any system of organizing your email already in place, don't bother reading this book.
First of all, this book is written in a "For Complete Morons" "Who Moved My Cheese?" style which I found to be a complete turn-off.
The first half of the book tells you what's wrong with your email style, which is news only to those that don't know how to conduct business communication in the first place. "Is the content of your email appropriate and professional?" I should hope so. Then it goes on to say you should convert your coworkers to the wonderful time-saving methodologies you've learned in this book, and direct them to the book web site. Any student of human nature can tell you, you can't really force anyone to do anything they don't want to do, you can only set an example and hope that they want to emulate it. If you are the boss, I suppose you can order people to follow the guidelines in this book, but otherwise it suggests giving your peers critiques of what's wrong with the email they've been sending you, a technique that's sure to make you near and dear to their hearts.
The second half of the book, which I eagerly anticipated, makes suggestions, then breaks its own rules, resulting in a confusing set of directions that aren't ultimately very useful. For example, the book states that you should be able to sort any email you receive into one folder, without wasting time deliberating over the decision between folders. You are supposed to organize your emails into Clients, Output, Teams, and Admin folders. If something falls into two folders, for example, some Output for a Client, it goes into the first folder in the COTA order-- the Client folder. But when would you ever create output that doesn't have a Client? And Clients in this case includes external AND internal customers. If your organization has a lot of output that isn't created FOR anybody, you have bigger problems than email.
Some of the other suggestions are obvious but presented as epiphany, such as, use subfolders within the COTA folders. Has it ever occurred to you that you could use email subfolders? Does your organization already use instant messaging for asynchronous messages? Guess what, you don't need this book.
In a FAQ at the end of the book, there is a tip that was not new to me, but which has worked for me. Turn off your email notifications (popups, sounds, etc.) and check your email about twice a day for a dedicated block of time. Otherwise every time you receive an email, you are interrupted from your flow of work.
What will happen with email? It is indeed a growing problem, I can't argue with that. I hope that Outlook develops better search technology, like that embedded in GMail. If you are one of the many Outlook users, you know that when your folders reach a certain size, an advanced search can take 15 minutes or more. However, creating a new folder structure isn't likely to do much for you, except cost you the time it takes to reorganize all of your mail.
A must-read for everyone who uses email.......2007-05-28
Getting overloaded with emails over the last 3-4 years. So decided to buy some books on the subject to improve. Bought 3 books from Amazon - Emails, Conquer Your Email Overload and Hamster Revolution. Find Hamster Revolution the best. I can see Hamster in me with over 500 emails in my in-box and having problems in relocating some of the infor later. This book is NOT about how to use Outlook. What I like is the story-telling method the authors used to bring across, otherwise a dry and technical subject, with interesting, lively and useful ideas. Strategy 1 is an eye opener for me. So simple and yet so useful ! Find it so enlightening and useful that I am thinking of asking the company to engage them for an in-house workshop ! Well done, guys !
It's a parable for a practical email management course which really works.......2007-05-19

It's a parable for a practical email management course which really works, includes a case study showing how over 2,000 Capital One associates cut their email time by 23 percent, and tells how to add quality into email management strategy for optimum results. Busy managers in particular will relish its advice, making THE HAMSTER REVOLUTION especially recommended for business libraries.

Book Description
"You are the message." What does that mean, exactly? It means that when you communicate with someone, it's not just the words you choose to send to the other person that make up the message. You're also sending signals about what kind of person you are--by your eyes, your facial expression, your body movement, your vocal pitch, tone, volume, and intensity, your commitment to your message, your sense of humor, and many other factors.
The receiving person is bombarded with symbols and signals from you. Everything you do in relation to other people causes them to make judgments about what you stand for and what your message is. "You are the message" comes down to the fact that unless you identify yourself as a walking, talking message, you miss that critical point.
The words themselves are meaningless unless the rest of you is in synchronization. The total you affects how others think of and respond to you.

A Communication Giant Shares His Speaking Strategies.......2007-06-12
Every time I direct a Presentation Skills seminar or provide communication coaching for executives, I recommend this book. I'll explain why.
Roger Ailes has strong credentials for writing a book about giving speeches. Prior to launching Fox News just over a decade ago, he had served as a speech writer and coach for the first President Bush, Ronald Reagan, Rudy Giuliani, and other public figures. Next, he became a talent scout for TV stations, helping them find anchors who could boost ratings.
I recommend You Are the Message for several reasons. First, the author's credentials I cited. Second, the book's straightforward approach, with clear, simple language.Third, Ailes gives readers a number of gems like these to keep in mind as they prepare speeches:
On being yourself: "You don't have to assume a phony posture. You just have to be you at your best. You already have the magic of communication in you, because nobody can play you as well as you can."
On composure: "If you are uncomfortable with who you are,it will make others uncomfortable too."
On style: "The best communicators I've ever known never changed their style of delivery from one situation to another. They're the same whether they're delivering a speech, having an intimate conversation, or being interviewed on a TV talk show."
On choosing your topic: "If you care, they care."
On energy: "I can correct fifteen communication problems with one ounce of energy."
On enthusiasm: "If the audience knows you care about what you're doing, you can forget about most speaking techniques."
If you're going to buy one book about preparing and delivering speeches, I recommend You Are the Message.

Excellent Anecdotal Examples & Tips.......2007-04-25
I had a lot experience with public speaking, but there are some very valuable tips, and he encourages you to refine who you are at the deepest level to exude confidence and charisma when speaking publicly. He also delves into the world of non-verbal communication. This book has excellent stories of famous actors, (albeit from the 50s and 60s) and presidents, with whom Ailes has worked, who had the gift of public speaking, and those who did not.
I especially like the chapter about charisma, and commanding the environment when you are around others. If you are interested in knowing what the best speakers in the world know, then you'll enjoy this book.
Great public speaking in one easy lesson?.......2006-07-12
In a single short cassette, containing the bare essence of the book, Roger Ailes distills the advice he has given countless politicians and business people about communicating. His advice is not terribly complex: be yourself, be interesting, be likable. The book title tells it all: you -- the totality of who you are, speech, gestures, tone, persona -- is as important to the mesasge you convey as the words you utter. The book makes perfect sense. But the problem is that speakers often don't know what it is about theiemselves that makes their speech unpersuasive. That's why folks like Ailes are in buisiness, to provide the objective feedback that breaks through the curtain of self-denial that many of us weave around ourselves.
It's interesting to see how Ailes's techniques can be used by the self-interested. If you are the message, then he will teach you how to keep your enemies off balance, and to retain the message that you want to communicate. In Ailes's world, being likable trumps being right. True enough. Sadly, that advice is as useful for the honest business owner making a sale as it is for the crooked politician trying to outfox the media.
Give this book a listen, for whatever it's worth. You might recognize a couple of bad habits in your own style, or find an explanation for why you don't seem to be heard. But I suspect that those with deeply ingrained habits will come away from this book with very little. If it was as easy as Ailes says, we'd all be Great Communicators, like one of Ailes's old clients.
Great Book.......2006-03-08
The book is very well written and the content are absolutely useful. A must-have to strengthen your communication and leadership skills.
Read this book before appearing on the O'Reilly Factor.......2005-11-30
I read this book very carefully, particularly the section on talking to the media, and I took every word to heart. I made sure when I went home to greet the throng of reporters waiting for me at my apartment (after I returned home from my temporary Accountant position) that I would take control of the situation and not let the news media bully me around. I immediately addressed the first reporter, simultaneously addressing the question and taking control of the situation by firmly stating "our performance has been stellar, our revenues have increased markedly and so has our marketshare, making our company an even more attractive target for institutional investors..."
My wife then poked her head out the window and said, "Who are you talking to?"
I answered her by saying "I'm addressing the media."
"What Media?" she asked. "You're talking to yourself. You've got to start separating fantasy from reality. You're becoming the Fox News Network."
What outstanding communication skills were displayed by someone who doesn't even speak English (my wife, not Roger Ailes)!

Good book.......2007-10-02
Good Book, easy to read and some easy tips for picking up body language signals
very interesting.......2007-08-16
Great book with a lot of information. For anyone who wants to know more about themselves and others!
Good read.......2007-05-26
I really liked this book. It gives a large overview of body language and how to read it. It's a bit dry and contains quite a lot of information. Expect to have to re-read it a few times to understand and be able to apply the information contained within.
Incredibly helpful for me .......2007-05-25
I had an unusual reason to order this book -- my child has a mild case of Asperger's Syndrome. This means that she lacks the skills to interpret body language unless she learns it as a "second language." So I bought it with her in mind. As I read it, I was surprised how extremely helpful it was for ME. I honestly never realized how much I was missing! The skills it teaches will help with relationships of all kinds, business and personal. I truly believe readers will find it valuable and fascinating -- not to mention well written! Thank you, Gregory Hartley and Maryann Karinch!
Fascinating and Informative.......2007-05-12
I found this book compelling. The wrting style is conversational and clear; the information is detailed and well presented. I was fascinated by the wealth of detail on the influence of such factors as gender, culture, emotional state, etc. on body language. People are not reduced to stereotypes but considered as individuals and readers are given a useful system for taking this into account as they analyze someone's body language.
Having now finished the book and begun to apply what I've learned, I don't think I'll ever watch a television talkshow or newscast in quite the same way.

Book Description
With the eye of a painter and the freedom of a photographer, Guy Bourdin created images full of fascinating stories, compositions, and colors. Using fashion and fashion photography as his vehicle, he explored the realms between the absurd and the sublime, taking cues from the theater and Surrealism. Along the way he became famous for his suggestive narratives and fantastic aesthetics--he broke conventions of commercial photography with a relentless perfectionism and sharp humor. Given total creative freedom, Bourdin captured the imagination of a generation. The late 1970s, recognized as the highest note in Bourdin's career, are the focal point of this two-volume edition. Volume I is dedicated to the legendary, nearly forgotten images he made with Nicolle Meyer as his model, and to their rarely seen variants. Meyer appeared in over 30 of his famous campaigns for Charles Jourdan and in iconic French Vogue editorials. Volume II is a road trip through Bourdin's visual landscape, a collage of images mapping his artistic search and vision. Texts, Polaroids, poems, sketches and contact sheets unfold in time with Nicolle Meyer's memories, and inscribe moments of Bourdin's working process that would otherwise be lost. To this day, Guy Bourdin, remains an enigma, and he leaves a provocative and compelling legacy. A Message for You examines that oeuvre and, perhaps more importantly, it provides insight into the complex workings of the photographer's mind.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Bourdin book focusing on Nicolle Meyer.......2007-09-24
This book (or books, since it is 2 volumes together) consists mainly of Bourdin's photos of Nicolle Meyer, taken between 1977 and 1980.
Volume I has 75 color photos, and each one has its own page. Each photo is only about half the size of the page, but having said that, none of them seem too small. They all seem about the right size and fit well with the feel of the book. Almost every photo contains Nicolle in one form or another, which is definitely not a bad thing, because she is a beautiful woman and a great subject.
Volume II has 133 pages. Most of them are photos, but some of them are text. The text tells about Bourdin, Nicolle Meyer, and the process that went into the photographs, among other things. The size of the photos varies more in Volume II than in Volume I. Some photos are the full size of the page, and sometimes there are multiple small images on one page. There aren't quite as many photos of Nicolle in this volume, but she is still the primary model.
I am not very familiar with Bourdin's other books, but in my opinion, this is a must-have for any fan of Bourdin. Both volumes are beautifully packaged and contain a box to keep them together. I can't say for sure, but I would assume that there are a lot of photographs in this album that are difficult to find anywhere else. One of my favorite photography books.

Book Description
Everybody feels as if they should be evangelizing someone, somewhere. In fact, most of us probably feel guilty because we're not meeting our evangelism quota for this lifetime. But sharing our faith with nonbelievers can often feel like making a sales call during dinnertime: uninvited, unacceptable, and highly unlikely to get any results. Author John Shore proposes a radical solution: Maybe it's time to take the focus off evangelism. As he builds his case with sound theology, humorous insights, and "me too" moments, John suggests that we move beyond the Great Commission and start living the Great Commandment, because the only thing better than telling someone about God's love is to let them actually experience it.
Customer Reviews:
BIG Disappointment.......2007-08-23
Mr. Shore is probably a great guy, but Theologian he's not.
His misuse of the Scriptures makes me wonder if the publisher, Navpress, even read the book.
A Buddhist highly recommended the book to me. ...that should have been my first warning sign.
No disrespect, but don't waste your time and money unless you're going to put it in the "cults" section of your library.
Please don't buy this!!! .......2007-07-21
While I am sure John Shore has a desire to help fellow Christians, this book does nothing of the sort. Instead, it is telling Christians not to obey one of Jesus' commands. Jesus' command in Matt. 28:16-20 is to make disciples. The way we are to do this is go into the world (that means witnessing), baptize them when they make a public declaration of faith, and teach them the truth in Scripture. John mistakenly thinks that this command conflicts with the greatest commands to love God and love your neighbor. The two are not contrary to each other. Rahter, they are in harmony. If we truly love our neighbor, we will warn them of the Day of Judgment to come where people will stand before God and have to give an account of their life. If they are found in their sins, they will spend eternity in hell. Warning people of this horrible fate and telling them about of the Gospel is loving them. Likewise, if we love God we will witness since this is a command (just look at the Greek in Matt. 28:18). Jesus said in John 14:15, "If you love me, you will obey my commandments". So if we love God and want to fulfill the greatest commandment, which is to love God will all our very being, we will obey all his commands. This includes the tough ones like evangelizing. We don't get to pick and choose. Please don't let this book tickle your ears. Please don't use this book as a way out of sharing your faith. Pray to God to give you courage and be bold and speak to the lost about their eternal fate.
God bless,
Pastor Peter O'Neill
Heretical! Shore flat out tells you to disobey Christ's command to witness!.......2007-07-21
Mr. Shore says that the Greatest Commandment (Love God and love people) is incompatible with the Great "Commission" (tell people about Christ)? How idiotic. These are two things God has commanded us to do... love others and tell others about Christ. In fact, the most loving thing we can possibly do for others is tell them about Christ.
In summary his book's real message isn't about loving God and loving people... it's about self-love. His message is, "Love yourself enough to avoid potentially uncomfortable situations that may occur during witnessing."
Poor Mr. Shore, I wonder how he could possibly actually be a Christian with this theology. It makes me heartsick that the Navigators published this garbage.
In third world countries thousands of babies are born with neonatal conjunctivitis, a serious infection of the eye that causes blindness. In 1995 an eye drop was created by UCLA that can kill the infectious bacteria and prevent sight loss. Imagine you are walking into a hut where a mother is clutching her infant. The child's eyes are red and puffy with crusted swollen lids. In your hand you have a bottle of this miraculous drug -- one drop in each eye, and this child will not go blind. However, before you can put the drops in those eyes, you're going to have to talk to the mother about the fact that something is wrong with her baby. You're going to have to say, in essence, "you're not OK."
But, imagine that you are so frightened that this may cause her to feel uncomfortable that you elect not to talk to her at all. You decide that if you're just friendly to her for a couple of months, perhaps she will ask you about the drops.
How horrific! Only the most UN-loving, self-centered, cringing, coward would elect to not speak because they were afraid of causing a little temporary discomfort!
If you really care about that woman and her poor, suffering child, you will run up to her, tell her something is wrong with her baby, and then tell her what you hold in your hand. And the same is true for evangelism. Sin is the disease, and Christ's precious blood is the miraculous cure. Sure, the person you talk to might feel initially uncomfortable... but if you really care about where they're going to spend eternity... if you really don't want to see them go to Hell... you will love that person enough to wade through that discomfort so that they get the cure.
If this book has any popularity, it can only be with those who do not believe Hell exists, and with those who are looking for an excuse not to share their faith. It is complete heresy... and utterly nonsensical.
Shore teaches the exact opposite of scripture.......2007-07-21
I noticed something John Shore's theology. His theology is not grounded in the Bible, but rather, in a postmodern, emergent church (cult)world where people are more concerned about hurting other's feelings rather than speaking the truth in love. Where it is more important for a person to enter hell than to hurt their feelings. Gee, I guess Jesus really botched it up with the rich, young ruler and the Pharisees.
The teaching in this book is a total cop-out from seeking and saving the lost. Shore tries desperately to stand behind the greatest commandment of "Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself" which is the whole sum of the Law, yet he has totally missed the point. Warning others with a totally loving and a reasoning heart, that Hell is real and that those who have not been saved by the grace of God will be punished there, but that there some awesome good news (Gospel)is not a contradiction to God's command to love. In fact it is not loving at all when John Shore attests that he would rather not talk to a stranger about these eternal matters but rather avoid them for fear of rejection or making them mad or hurting their feelings. People's eternal souls are at stake here! We, as Christians, are those, whom have been saved from death ourselves and are now in the lifeboat (that is Christ) on our way back to the "Titanic" wading through the frozen corpses and yelling "Is anyone there?" And acting out of pure love to save those who are perishing, pulling them in from the fire.
John Shore say's that the greatest commandment to "love thy neighbor" is greater than the "great commission." Shore says that a commandment is greater than a commission and that the two are incompatible. What kind of scholarly research is this? Anyone, with the Holy Spirit indwelling, who correctly interprets the Bible knows this is a horrible way to interpret, or rather pathetic if I may be blunt. Matt. 28 and Mark 16:15 do not use the word "Commission." Jesus said "Go..." and then he tells us how to go. This is a command, not a suggestion. I believe Shore is relying on the "headers" that people have put into the Bible to help readers define sections of the Bible and he's clearly not reading the context of the passage. It seems as if he is looking at the header words "The Great Commission" in his Bible and thinking that it is scripture. In essence John Shore is telling Christians that Jesus is really contradicting himself and that one part of Jesus command is lesser than the other. This is complete and utter heresy that is being taught here, and I am very disturbed that so many people have flocked to this book. It's like the prayer of Jabez again, another heretical teaching. Everything that Jesus says weaves together in a common thread, it can and never does contradict with itself. The Word of God is God breathed, it is totally unified. Every essence of it is pure and undefiled and definitely NOT in contradiction to each other.
If you don't want to evangelize as Shore has stated that you shouldn't, then this book is for you, but keep in mind that you have violated God's command to love - which is something that Shore has emphatically stated that you shouldn't, so you're in a conundrum - because you would rather see people enter hell, than warn, reason, and share the Gospel to a stranger in love for fear that they may be upset at you. Shore totally missed what Jesus said "Unless you repent, then you will perish" And the implication there is, "in hell." We must reach the lost, in the fullness of love and compassion and obedience to Christ's command to "Go preach the Gospel..." with the unsaved so they may not perish. Why is John saying we shouldn't do this?
This book gets 4-5 stars, why? Because people want to get their ears tickled and Shore's book provides people with an easy out, after all who really wants to evangelize? (sarcasm).
Penned with gentle charm, Christian humor, love, and understanding.......2007-07-09
Humorist and Christian writer John Shore presents I'm OK - You're Not: The Message We're Sending Nonbelievers and Why We Should Stop, a frank discussion of a crucial flaw in modern evangelical movements - that they have come to resemble sales calls made during dinnertime, and as such are just as unlikely to achieve results. Emphasizing the concept that letter others experience God's love is far more potent than simply telling them about it, I'm OK - You're Not emphasizes the importance of listening to the Great Commandment above all. The Great Commandment referred to is as spoken by Jesus Christ and recorded in the Bible: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." Penned with gentle charm, Christian humor, love, and understanding, I'm OK - You're Not deserves to be required reading for any Christian considering embarking upon an evangelical mission or career.

Book Description
In FROM ME TO YOU, JacLynn Morris and Dr. Paul L. Fair outline the surprisingly simple steps you can take to create powerful, touching messages for the special people in your life. This book is for anyone who wants to put love, advice, comfort and inspiration into written words.
Readers will find: 5 easy-to-follow steps to make messages that others will cherish; 2 techniques that make writing from the heart remarkably easy; and nearly 100 examples of powerful, personal letters written by men and women who applied the authors' message-making suggestions during joyful times (milestone events, renewed romance) -- in times of stress (illness, divorce, financial transitions) -- and even when they were feeling ambivalent about life's events (living with stepchildren, empty nesting, impending retirement).
FROM ME TO YOU helps even the most reluctant writers among us discover how easy it is (and how wonderful it feels) to put the best of ourselves in lasting messages that get through to others with clarity and impact.
Customer Reviews:
Unsent Letters is a much better book than this one........2004-05-18
I gained so much more from reading "Unsent Letters: Writing as a way to resolve and renew" than from reading this book. Compare the two yourself and you'll see what I mean.
A great help.......2002-09-14
This book is a great help for anyone needing to write anything. Your correspondence will forever change to be more meaningful.
Take this amazing trip; it is a gift for your soul........2002-03-12
This book has been on my shelf to review for several months, but so many events took my time and energy that I am just now beginning to find my way back to words. My dad died January 5, 2002, and I gave the eulogy at his funeral. How do you share the love and life of someone so dear, yet bring comfort to others who are also suffering this loss? This book, this wonderful book, helped me to deliver a speech that gave the joy and humor that was my dad to others.
Rarely does a writer's reference book have the ability to encourage and inspire its readers or those who do not take up the "pen," to find the way to express emotions. Yet this book shows the joy and power of honest communications, and provides an easy to follow plan that helps all of us share our dreams, hopes, fears, and love with the important people in our lives. It also helps us realize that everyone is important, and to never take for granted the gift of friendship.
This book is an adventure through emotions, but it is so much more. Follow the principles, write the way you speak, be yourself, get rid of criticisms, and in doing so, you become the better part of yourself. Imagine, if you could read a letter and know what the reader was feeling; this book will help you see the ways to do so because in revealing ourselves, we gain self-knowledge and confidence.
Five stars are not diminished by the only difficulty I had, which was the very small size of the font.

Connecting with Correspondence.......2002-01-15
There are times when conversation cannot convey your deepest feelings. You can hide your true feelings when talking to someone you care about. Written words can be gifts of the heart and the way you present them can make all the difference. The fact that you take the time to find a concrete way of expressing your feelings is what matters!
You might be reluctant to send an e-mail or put pen to paper, however if you follow the steps in this book you will find it is easier than you think. The authors give examples of letters for every situation. These letters go beyond "polite" words and are more honest and genuine. They express goodwill or reveal deep feelings. They also communicate the importance and value of your relationship to the receiver.
"Often, just the fact that a person puts time, effort, thought or originality into something to delight or help us makes a message wonderful." pg. 9
The authors show how you use five basic elements to make a message powerful, intimate, satisfying and meaningful. It doesn't matte if you want to express your feelings, give advice, forgive, answer important questions, thank someone or share a favorite memory. These five elements should be included in your letter.
While this book might sound like it is an emotional roller coaster ride, there are quite a few really funny letters. I loved the story of a mother who writes down the sweet and funny things her children do. She intends to give these memories to her children. I know this was such a delight when my mother showed me her notes of what I said and did when I was very young. It truly will delight any child to know their parents cared enough to find the time to write down these memories. It also helps children remember important details of their lives.
Another idea I really thought was wonderful was a letter an Aunt sent her nephew about all the wonderful books she had read that she thought he would enjoy. Of course she could have just reviewed them, yet she chose to specifically recommend books that had given her enjoyment, knowledge and comfort.
Some of the letters helped bridge the distance between friends and family or helped to heal a hurt. These are real letters people wrote at a time in their lives when hurt, anger or misunderstanding left them feeling as if they were stuck on opposite sides of a tightly closed door.
"Maybe the blur of our lives has left us hungry for tangible ways to hold onto what is and was-even as we move toward what will be." pg. 150
So if you want to connect with the people you care most about, "From Me to You" will show you how to share your memories, thank people who have helped you in life, apologize to those you may have hurt, inspire friends and invite people to think of you with love and a smile.

Words provide continuity from generation to generation that surpasses our limited life spans to enrich the shared love of friends and family, to bind generations, and to offer hope to the future. Despite the power of words, many people are reluctant writers, uncertain of what to say or how to say it. To that end, authors JacLynn Morris and Paul L. Fair, Ph.D. bring their own writing skills, teaching experience, and research to bear, offering aid to the reluctant writer in FROM ME TO YOU.
Simple, easy to follow steps guide the writer through the process of conveying thoughts and emotions that might else wise remain unanswered and unspoken. Using the five basic elements enumerated in FROM ME TO YOU, writers can add depth and value to their messages. Concise explanations and the generous use of examples accompany each step, clearly illustrating each point. Many of the examples are both poignant and inspiring, aiding the prospective reader in finding their own voices and experiences. Difficult to write messages that reveal secrets or explanations likewise becoming easier to write with the aid of FROM ME TO YOU.
At last, a writing book for everyone! Whether your words are meant as a thank you, as an apology, to offer comfort or advice, or simply to affirm your love, FROM ME TO YOU will aid all writers in expressing themselves. Powerful, personal messages are our legacy to those we love, regardless of the purpose of the note, and can easily be strengthened by following these simple steps. One of the best writing resources I have encountered, FROM ME TO YOU comes very highly recommended.

Book Description
Patricia Heller takes us on a journey from having an "incurable" illness that she cured, to investigating healing hands, past-life regression, shamanism, manifesting greatness, automatic writing, heart-centered transformation, her inner gypsy woman, and much more. The book is an excellent survey of the healing arts in America over the past fifteen years.

A Story of Determination.......2007-04-26
This is a story of one woman's challenges in life, specifically her illness, and how she overcame it. Patricia shares not only her story, but also more importantly her learning's, her discoveries. She discusses real life examples that she faced and the steps she took to overcome them from health issues to marital issues to grief.
Throughout her story, Patricia shares with the reader the tools and insights on how she "listened" to the messages in her life. Some of her methods may be new to you. Some people will have to have an open mind as they read her suggestions and techniques. To quote Patricia, "Letting go of old beliefs is hard."
As I read the book, I was impressed with Patricia's determination to overcome the issues facing her. Many people would have given up, but Patricia was willing to try almost anything to live a life of intention. At times, she faced criticism, failure, and heartache. But, she persevered by learning, listening, and taking action.
Quotes from the book:
"It was the beginning of my realization that it's how you view things, not how they turn out that shapes your life."
"...nothing happens at random in our lives, and we draw to us what we need to learn and grow."
"Whenever I feel myself anticipating what I expect to happen, I let it go."
"While spending a lifetime finding the answer, along the way I discovered humor makes the journey a lot more enjoyable."
"You get what you give."
"The essence of feeling safe and secure comes not from connecting with another person, but from connecting to our own higher self. Security only comes from within."
"With more information comes more awareness; with more awareness comes more choice on how to live our lies - honestly, as our true authentic selves."
"Knowing what you want is powerful."
Patricia has written about her journey in a manner that is entertaining but also sharing her knowledge. As you read the book, you will feel Patricia's passion for life. It is a book that may challenge your thinking, but may help you in your own healing process, and could also help you in living a life of intention.
If Hear The Message 3 Times....Listen!.......2007-03-21
I loved this book! Patricia Heller takes you along on her spiritual journey, and it's an amazing trip indeed!
For those open to discovery.......2007-02-21
This book spoke directly to me. The title had caught my attention because I have found it to be true in my life. I could not put the book down, except to take time to absorb some of the messages more fully. Having been diagnosed with cancer a year ago, I had started down a similar path of discovery. I have learned that illness can be the result of emotional and spiritual discord, and that having a life-threatening illness can provide the impetus to make some radical life changes, including being open to radical new ideas. Having been blessed with some amazing mentors during my journey, I had to marvel at the author's resilience in discovering her own paths to insight, including those that seemed helpful only in their lack of helpfullness. Some of the messages were so subtle as to be easily missed. I did not want the book to end, but now that I've finished it, I will proceed with my journey open to what the universe intends for me.
I give this book 4 stars instead of 5 only because it has a very specific target audience ... those who are truly open to hearing what their heart and the universe are trying to tell them.
A down to earth Angel.......2007-02-20
I truly enjoy the honest, down-to-earth quality of Patricia Heller's account of her spiritual journey. From fighting with lawyers to sleeping with (in!) the Sphinx in Egypt, her book relates the mundane along with the amazing, the hilarious and the sad, and manages through it all to maintain the quest for Spirit front and center. A great read!
Too fluffy for me..........2007-02-12
I bought this book when I was having a really bad week with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been exploring different modes of spirituality for 40 years, and I'm hardly a complete curmudgeon on the subject of mind-body connections. I did, after all, buy the book expecting a spiritual approach. But after trudging through the first two-thirds of it, I quickly skimmed the rest, and threw the book down in disgust.
Ms. Heller's idea of a cure seems to be attending several luxury spa spiritual healing conventions a year, and supplementing this with readings from a variety of spiritualists. If you want to know how to buy spiritual healing, this is the book for you. You may also pick up a few tips on what to wear while living the spiritual life - Heller's designer-nametag-dropping is incredibly irritating. To quote just one: "I wandered around my eight acres in my nightgown, coat, and beloved 'Ugg' boots..."
On a more serious note, Heller does not acknowledge any physical causes for CFS. (For comparision, my own opinion is that CFS probably has some physical causes, but it is definitely aggravated by stress and pent-up negative emotions.) Heller's belief is that we attract negativity to us because of the negativity inside us. (Either that, or our guides and guardian angels are trying to teach us a lesson.)
Obviously, emotions like hate and anxiety do make people sick all the time, but I would warn potential readers that in this book, that's the only explanation you're going to get. You will get Tarot, auras, automatic writing and finding your animal totem. You will NOT get stretching, diet, environmental stresses, etc. (At least, I don't think you will. As I said, I skimmed the last third of the book, and there is no index or bibliography...)
I gave this book two stars only because many of Heller's stories about getting past her emotional "stuck spots" are interesting and helped me to some insights about my own emotional blind spots. Bottom line, this may be an interesting book on one woman's spiritual journey, but it's of very little use to most CFS sufferers.

I can't even drink O.J. anymore.......2007-08-30
O.J. Is scum. Anyone buying anything that puts money in his pocket needs their head examined.
Ha Ha to the Morality Net Police.......2007-01-13
OJ Simpson is a wonderful guy, regardless of his guilt or innocence. If he is guilty, then his acquittal was a marvelous use of his resources to exact revenge on Nicole 'the prostitute' Brown. If he's innocent, then that's nice too. Either way, Americans continue to contribute to his pocketbook as they have in the past via football, and in the present via his book sales. So however the dominoes fall, OJ is brilliant. The morality patrol who surf the web spreading the "OJ is a guilty evil man" gospel, are only aiding to line his wallet. Especially now that "If I did It" has been banned. That book will be worth it's weight in gold WHEN it becomes available.
Oh, and in reference to this book. It's excellent. I happily contributed the cost of this book to Mr. Simpsons bank account... an account that Goldman and his gold-diggin' family can't seem to touch. LOL.
Who needs the sequel?.......2006-12-03
Even though Fox News and Regan books may have decided (fools!) to retract Mr. Simpson's latest Gospel, "If I Did It," we may all rest assured that this grand epistle is still in circulation. Be not faint of heart, ye believers, the Word according to O.J. is not forgotten among the faithful! Find strength in Him whenever you find yourself in despair--such as when you are, say, stabbing your wife to death--and righteousness shall always prevail....
Refreshing insight.......2006-11-21
I am happy OJ had the opportunity to get his side of the story out there. He is a good role model for people who want to do what they want in life no matter what anyone says.
As sick, pretentious and nasty as could be........2005-09-23
We all know that O.J. Simpson is 1000% guilty of this horrific double-murder and that he was able to buy justice thanks to his shameless "Dream Team" lawyers (or liars) and their utterly despicable tactics. Despite the countless lies found here, what I find most offensive, nasty and sickening is how Simpson refers to himself as being a "battered husband"--Say What???!!! Lies, more lies and nothing but big, nasty and fat lies.
Book Description
Pastors are continually looking for resources to make their preaching more powerful and culturally relevant. Old-school models based on three-point outlines do not resonate with today's churchgoers, who are accustomed to media-driven modes of expression. It's All in How You Tell It provides the tools and insights necessary to help both veteran and novice preachers move from ineffective habits into adrenaline-pumping, dramatic sermon delivery. They will learn to preach by retelling a scriptural account from the vantage point of a biblical character-combining the power of drama with God's Word. Nationally known preaching expert Haddon W. Robinson and his son, Torrey, examine issues such as exegeting a text for a first-person approach, structuring a narrative sermon, determining how to portray biblical characters, and staging and delivering the sermon itself. With this book seminary and Bible college students have the opportunity to build foundations for engaging, story-filled preaching ministries. The end result will be more preachers who ''love to tell the story'' and more church members who are hungry to hear it.
Customer Reviews:
Very practical and might change your preaching, forever.......2007-03-31
Dr. Robinson's "Biblical Preaching" has been a standard for more than 20 years and has been extensively used in seminaries and Bible colleges. I read it too for my homiletics class (and still have it). It explains the preparation and preaching of the traditional "three point sermon with introduction and conclusion." I was pretty good at it but eventually it got boring.
Thus I started checking into other methods and found this one, written by Dr. Robinson with his son Torrey. These authors still advocate expository preaching, but in a creative way: Biblical characters telling the stories from their point of view.
The book is great for a number of reasons. It is very practical, explaining everything from preparation to delivery. It encourages you to study the text and the cultural setting so that you can "milk" these for vivid, explanatory details that will greatly inrich your story. It includes a couple of sample sermons, so that I was able to envision what these sermons look like.
Once I tried it at church, people loved it so much, they applaud any time I do it (don't ask me why). Some people remember sermons I did more than two years ago. Others tell me this form makes the Biblical characters come to life or that they are transported into Biblical times.
I don't think that it might have been their intention, but I have actually abandoned the "three point sermon" advocated by Dr. Robinson in his "Biblical Preaching" and moved more into Fred Craddock's narrative preaching style. Credit (or blame) this book that has introduced me to preaching as story telling rather than the declaration of propositional truth.
Helpful, Practical Guidance.......2003-10-23
For preachers committed to biblical exposition yet still eager to provide a creative element to their preaching, the Robinsons offer helpful insights and some effective models. This is a worthwhile investment for the preacher seeking to add new energy to expository sermons.
