Why the Celestine Prophecy is a wonderful novel.......2007-09-07
So I've read a lot of the reviews on this site, and I must say I'm completely shocked at how low the star ratings are. I'm not even going to go into why I love this book, I'm just want to explain why those low star rated reviews are rubbish. Just looking at the statistcs on this book you can see how loved and important this novel is. Since 1993 The Celestine Prophecy has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 34 languages..You just don't sell that many copies of a book if it's not good! Also for the people that didn't like the way this book was written, I have to agree with you that Redfield is not master novelist but that's not the point of the book. The point is for him to get a across a message, to everyone. I was 13 when I first read this book. The lanuage is designed so that everyone can understand its message.
How I lost 10 lbs. reading the Celestine Prophecy.......2007-09-04
After reading the first 75 pages of CP, which I purchased full price at the request of a friend, I had to come to Amazon and read the reviews. Why? Because I found myself raising my voice at the book -- pouring out my best negative energy onto it -- saying things like, "This is s**t." And "WTF [my friend] did this to me."
Was I the only one upset about this awful book?
*Heck* no: enter the one-star reviewers. If there is anything 'meant to be' about this book, it is its inspiration of first-rate comedy writing by folks who wish they had back their time and money. Just read on, and you may find yourself doubled over with laughter. I was in tears at times. I've got ripped abs as a result as well.
Highlights include:
1. The guy who read the book to impress a girl (it didn't work).
2. The guy who reminds us that all of us here on earth experience the same moon phase, no matter where we are located on said earth.
3. Multiple folks who get pissed about Mayans placed at Machu Picchu.
4. The guy rolling around laughing with his friend reading various passages from the book while on tour in Peru.
5. The guy who uses the 9th insight to disappear at parties.
I recommend reading some of the book -- certainly do not pay for it, tho -- prior to reading the reviews.
To all who think the critics of this book are closed-minded or "the problem," quit looking for your higher self for sec and laugh at some of these reviews.

I read this book shortly after it first came out. At that time, I had already discovered what I call "the divine flow," and how that flow is continually guiding us through our intuition, the intuition of others, and through divine signs and synchronicities. But this was the first book to really corroborate my experience, and to me it's a classic that everyone should read. There is one part in this book where the hero dreams that he has fallen into a river, and he discovers the benefit of "going with the flow" rather than resisting it. This has become a powerful theme in my life, and I recently read another book that expands on that concept (hence my motivation for writing this review now). It's called Row, Row, Row Your Boat: A Guide For Living Life In The Divine Flow, and I think it makes a great companion to The Celestine Prophecy.

I really enjoyed the "Celestine Prophecy" so I went ahead and read this follow-up, "The Tenth Insight". I couldn't wait to finish it, because the story seemed to go dull, quick. Too much explainations on topics about the story. If it wern't for the little bit of sense the story made, I would tell anyone looking at this book to "run for the hills".

The Celestine Prophecy written about ten years ago had a profound effect on my spiritual understanding. Since then I have looked at relationships and energy dynamics in a whole new way. "The Tenth Insight" deepened my insights by allowing me to understand how many of the world's problems can be solved with new spiritual vision.
Lately I had been looking for current inspiration in a book that carried in a tradition similar to James Redfield. I found it in Nexus: A Neo Novel

One of the worst books I've ever read........2006-07-27
good grief! The book is basically a crash course on new age thinking disguised as fiction. Unfortunately, the "insights" are bad philosophy full of circular reasoning and self-contradictions. The details that are not relevant to the message are inaccurate - for instance, the point that looks out over Machu Picchu is not accessible by Jeep, Martin Luther never called for an end to the Papacy and only two very small portions of the Old Testament were written in aramaic. It's bad logic, fruitless philosophy, bland dialogue, and just generally awful fiction. The only thing I got from this book was a better understanding of why the New Age movement will never get anywhere. When your whole world view is a circle, all you see in front of you is the back of your own head. How could you ever find enlightenment like that?
Mayans in Peru? You're kidding right?.......2005-04-02
In this book, author James Redfield suggests that the Mayans disappeared because they moved to a higher plane of existence. The unnamed main character quits his job within the first four pages of the book to look for a Mayan manuscript (containing nine new-age insights) in Peru. First of all, Mayans occupied parts of Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador, and most of Guatemala and Belize; not Peru. No wonder our intrepid adventurer couldn't find them. Not to mention the fact that Mayans didn't dissapear. Mayan civilization collapsed; however, you can go to these areas and meet thier descendents. So based on the fact that I have met several, I doubt seriously they are invisible due to being on a higher plane of existence. Other laughable elements include a Latin preist named "Father Carl" and the fact that the manuscript is written in Aramaic with no explanation given as to why. I could pass all this off as merely devices by which the author intends to explain his new-age insights but Redfield is really serious about this stuff, so are many fans of this book. Fans of this book are the same people who put a Buddha statue in thier house then claim to be knowledgable about Eastern religions, yet have never attended any Eastern religious ceremonies. I base that statement on actual people who have recommended this rubish to me. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this book. If you are misfortunate enough to have already paid for it; I recommend rubbing garbage all over every page, closing it back up, and then loaning it to a friend you hate. This will give them the same feeling I had while reading this travesty. The tenth insight should be, "If you paid for this book, you proved P.T. Barnum correct."

I recently finished reading The Celestine Prophecy. A friend of mine leant me the book and I could not put it down. It brought to light a lot of the feelings that I could not put into words and it honestly changed my life. I look at everything as a whole, not just as one thing. I would recomend that everyone Christian or not read this book. There are truly no words to describe how you feel after you finish, and I go back and read all of the time now. I love this book.
contrived claptrap preying on the weak minded.......2001-10-29
I read this to understand what had tipped an acquaintance over the edge. This attempts to guide lost souls towards a new way of thinking, but in fact provides justification for alienating those you know/love in the event that they dont see the light in the way that you do. The last third of the book is a poorly disguised manifesto for Mr Redfield's chosen 'church' of thought, and he is guilty of promising assistance, but is in fact providing a reason for self destructive people to alienate themselves further. He has claimed in the past this is merely a novel, but only those weak enough to be taken in by the book are fooled by this, shame on you, you have ruined more lives than you have saved.

I read 'The Celestine Prophecy'in 1994, a few months after my boyfriend had died. It was the day before New Years Eve and I was feeling very lonely. I was at a very low point in my life and looking for something - though at the time i didnt know what it was...it just happened to be 'The Celestine Prophecy'!! To some that might sound completely bonkers but i believe that the book was the thing that changed my life and made me look at life without the dark cloth that had been veiling it. Some may criticise the book for being a little to 'alternative' but if it has the power to make a very sad, depressed person optimistic for the future then it is wonderful. The book made me think about the bigger picture and perhaps the meaning of life!! What a statement to make!! For me it certainly was true and perhaps it may be for you too. Happy reading xxxx

The Celestine Prophecy is a very philosophical story that explains spiritual theories through a story. A very captivating book that steers the mind in different directions and has the reader question his own beleifs over and over again. This book has nine insights that with thought can improve your own life without actually beleiving in the literal meaning translated from the book.
If you enjoy reading philosophical books that have to do with such things as auras, you will fall in love with this book. The book will give you insights that you wouldn't have thought of and it'll have you come up with many ideas of your own. I recommend this book.

I like the way how the author defined things like coincidence, higher vibration and love.

I bought "The Celestine Meditations" because I love books by James Redfield. I was hoping this Audio CD would live up to my expectations.
For those who don't know: Salle Merrill-Redfield, is James Redfield's wife, and he is the author of "The Celestine Prophecy" and other inspiring books. I found this CD to be a relaxing experience and a perfect introduction to the beauty of meditation.
"The Celestine Meditations" expand upon two insights found in "The Celestine Prophecy." I think it will benefit both a beginner to meditation and even the more advanced practitioner.
The first meditation takes you on a journey through a forest and ultimately to a connection with your higher self. This meditation is based on the fifth insight, which shows that we must learn to gain energy through our connection with a universal source, not try to gain it from other people. Our source of energy is within and not outside us.
The second meditation takes place by a beach and it's based on the eight insight, which reveals that through uplifting others around us we can increase the frequency of coincidences in our lives. We need to be careful to still maintain our inner connection to universal source of energy and avoid losing it through romantic involvement. This meditation concentrates on personal and universal healing and it's a beautiful experience.
I would recommend that you buy this CD with "The Celestine Prophecy" and I also recommend Nexus: A Neo Novel which also offers psychological and spiritual insights woven within a unique story of personal transformation. Anyone who has read James Redfield will easily understand and appreciate the message of "Nexus."
Celestine Meditations.......2007-01-22
I am a long time meditator and own many tapes and CDs and this one is THE BEST. I am so happy that it is finally coming out on CD as I have worn out at least three tapes. My husband and I are both musicians and use this tape before going to work, especially if we have had a stressfull day. It is like taking a wonderful, lazy nap, except you wake up ready to take on the world. Salle's voice is restful and engaging. You can also get this meditation as an audiobook.

Take this review with a grain of salt. I have not DONE the meditation yet.
However, I have an aversion to cheesy "new age" "music" made with synthesizers in order to get "other worldly" "spacey" sounds that some people think are appropriate for meditating.
I disagree that they are appropriate for meditating or for anything else, either.
So just wanted to warn any other anti-new-age-music-ites out there that this cd does use that synthesizer sound for the background of the meditation.
If you want a really good and legitimate Meditation session, as opposed to guided relaxation or guided journey like this is, try Meditations for Everyday Mindfulness - Beryl Bender Birch (Artist).
For "New Age" music without synthesizers, AND info re healing with meditation and sound - a special priced 2 cd set, try "Healing With Sound and Music" by Dr. Andrew Weil and Kimba Arem. The music on the 2nd disc is crystal bowls, bells, flute and other real instruments, no synthesizer and super relaxing.

Very enlightening content poorly written in a New-Age daze........1999-04-09
This book is heralded by some to be the new artifact that has the answers to life. Whatever! Though the content is worth the reading and contemplation, do not be mislead by the motives of the author. This is yet another piece of New-Age material that too many trees have been wasted on.
There is a real message in the book that I believe Redfield happened to stumble upon by accident, or perhaps he heard of true spiritual accounts and tried to immitate them in this book. Keep your wits about you, and be discerning. He should have left these lessons to be taught by those who have had these experiences, or to a real author, who would have put the information across much, much more effectively.
As I said before, find the truth in the book, because it is worth the few bucks, but do it only if you are able to ignore the money-making scheme of it.

I found this book to be a remarkable piece of art, stumbled upon by accident. I have never quite read a book that left you thinking about it's context with such depth and wonder. I find myself living in parallel with the story as if it were not a work of fiction! It really allows you to see the beauty of nature, family and life. If you want adventure that places you within the depths of a story, then you found the right one.

According to James Redfield, author of the the long-running bestseller "The Celestine Prophecy," the book was a movie in his mind before it ever appeared on the page. "...if truth be known, the book first dawned on me as a series of images, dramatic scenes, that all arrived in my head feeling like movie moments."
The story of the long circuitous path from Redfield's mind to the printed page to film is told in this quite handsome book from publisher Hampton Roads. How the jungle-like settings were discovered and created, the challenges that faced the author, actors and film crew are all colorfully recounted here, and Celestine fans will likely eat it up. This is a must have children's picturebook! The story is written for a child to enjoy but, has the depth to appeal to an adult.
A young boy (Celestine), sets out on an adventure, but looses his sense of "direction" along the way; the story takes on doubble meanings as it depicts the physical struggle of being lost in the woods & the inner struggles of loosing one's sense of self. It is the values from Celestine's upbringing that help him find his way "home" both in the physical and spiritual sense.

The Song of Celestine is the perfect primer for teaching young kids the lessons and meaning of sprituality. I love this book for a number of reasons:The rhyming of the words makes it fun to read to children, the lessons presented in the book follow the teachings of theCelestine Prophecy series but bring it down to a level that children can understand and are interested in learning, and the oil paintings on each page are fabulous and exquisite! There is a perfect marriage of visual, written and emotional balance in this book that has fascinated my kids. The Song of Celestine is one of their bedtime favourites! The depth of conversation that ensues from this book has satisfied me that they are interested in spirituality and this book is the perfect way to teach! I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!
