Book Description

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

The shocking answer is: None of the above!

In his groundbreaking Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!" Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance, but if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of money—and if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is two books in one. Part I explains how your money blueprint works. Through Eker's rare combination of street smarts, humor, and heart, you will learn how your childhood influences have shaped your financial destiny. You will also learn how to identify your own money blueprint and "revise" it to not only create success but, more important, to keep and continually grow it.

In Part II you will be introduced to seventeen "Wealth Files," which describe exactly how rich people think and act differently than most poor and middle-class people. Each Wealth File includes action steps for you to practice in the real world in order to dramatically increase your income and accumulate wealth.

If you are not doing as well financially as you would like, you will have to change your money blueprint. Unfortunately your current money blueprint will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise it, and that's exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to T. Harv Eker, it's simple. If you think like rich people think and do what rich people do, chances are you'll get rich too!

4 out of 5 stars Mind Over Matter.......2007-10-01

The key to achieving any goal is to mentally determine that it can be done and that you will accomplish it. This book will help you develop the mentality that will increase your odds of gaining wealth. That quest starts out with a bit of house cleaning. The author first helps you to unlearn all of the bad habits that are holding you back financially. After that foundation is laid, he goes on to layout his philosophies the mind set needed to get rich.

I was uncomfortable with his references to the "universe." He seems to use this term in place of God. I've never heard people speak in that way. Otherwise it is a great read.

Harv Eker has hit the "nail on the head" with this exciting, upbeat, and challenging "How to" for those of us that want to break out of the poor mentality. I have read many books on this subject but Harv brings new insights into a well writen about arena. He has "passion" about his ideas and suggestions for mastering the inner game of Wealth. My wife and I have both read this book and go back and re-read many time. Good STUFF!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-09-19

This book is not about how to invest in the market or any get rich quick scheme. It is a holistic approach to how successful people think and do. Although the topic is about having money, it first questions how you feel about having money. The first part is quite interesting as it gives various examples of how, through conditioning, we have opinions which have been formed at an early age, about money. There are NLP ties throughout this book.

Then Eker introduces 17 "wealth files" which each have various strategies, illustrations and comparisons for those that earn money and those who don't. The message is still clear that you must go and take action as nothing is going to simply fall into your lap. That being said, it begins with the mindset first.

This book is well written, and is a fast read. It is also equipped with many great one liner's, metaphors and stories.

5 out of 5 stars You get to say how it will go..........2007-09-11

This is an awesome read for anyone. It is especially poignant for those who know they have what it takes to make it big; but continue to not master whatever it is that they need to get there. These ideas and concepts can be applied to life; not just creating wealth. T. Harve Eker does a great job of relating to his audience in easy going everyday terminology.
I have been quoting this book since the very first day I listen to the CD. This is a well done first rate book; buy it for your Dad, your Mom, your Brother, Sister; anyone that you care about.

4 out of 5 stars Good material and an easy read.......2007-09-05

T Harv presents many time honored principles about how your way of thinking affects the reality you live. Who can argue with the idea that having a positive attitude about money (or anything else) is a good thing? He gets to the root of the problem with his idea of the "Money Blueprint" and then goes on to inform of various other ways we sabotage our path to wealth. The hit-yourself-in-the-forehead-and-declare-that "I could have had a V-8" (OK OK ... "I have a millionaire mind!") is a little hokey but it does reinforce the idea presented and encourages the reader to DO SOMETHING.

Focusing primarily on money is one of the limitations of this and many other similar books ... there is a lot more to our quality of life than money. But, since money impacts so many aspects of our lives, it's something we all have to deal with. The book has some great ideas, many useful quotes and one liners about how to think "better" about money and is easy to read.

Definitely worth the effort in any event.

What do you do after you've written the No. 1 bestseller The Millionaire Next Door? Survey 1,371 more millionaires and write The Millionaire Mind. Dr. Stanley's extremely timely tome is a mixture of entertaining elements. It resembles Regis Philbin's hit show (and CD-ROM game) Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, only you have to pose real-life questions, instead of quizzing about trivia. Are you a gambling, divorce-prone, conspicuously consuming "Income-Statement Affluent" Jacuzzi fool soon to be parted from his or her money, or a frugal, loyal, resole your shoes and buy your own groceries type like one of Stanley's "Balance-Sheet Affluent" millionaires? "Cheap dates," millionaires are 4.9 times likelier to play with their grandkids than shop at Brooks Brothers. "If you asked the average American what it takes to be a millionaire," he writes, "they'd probably cite a number of predictable factors: inheritance, luck, stock market investments.... Topping his list would be a high IQ, high SAT scores and gradepoint average, along with attendance at a top college." No way, says Stanley, backing it up with data he compiled with help from the University of Georgia and Harvard geodemographer Jon Robbin. Robbin may wish he'd majored in socializing at L.S.U., instead, because the numbers show the average millionaire had a lowly 2.92 GPA, SAT scores between 1100 and 1190, and teachers who told them they were mediocre students but personable people. "Discipline 101 and Tenacity 102" made them rich. Stanley got straight C's in English and writing, but he had money-minded drive. He urges you to pattern your life according to Yale professor Robert Sternberg's Successful Intelligence, because Stanley's statistics bear out Sternberg's theories on what makes minds succeed--and it ain't IQ.

Besides offering insights into millionaires' pinchpenny ways, pleasing quips ("big brain, no bucks"), and 46 statistical charts with catchy titles, Stanley's book booms with human-potential pep talk and bristles with anecdotes--for example, about a bus driver who made $3 million, a doctor (reporting that his training gave him zero people skills) who lost $1.5 million, and a loser scholar in the bottom 10 percent on six GRE tests who grew up to be Martin Luther King Jr. Read it and you'll feel like a million bucks. --Tim Appelo

Book Description

In his first best-seller, Dr. Thomas J. Stanley shattered one of contemporary America's most firmly held myths: That wealthy individuals belong to an elite group of the highly educated and exceedingly lucky who often inherit their money and spend it on lavish purchases and pampered lifestyles. In fact, a significant number of America's wealthy are far more likely to work hard, save diligently, and live well below their means. As the title of Stanley's 1996 best-selling book stated, they are The Millionaire Next Door. Now, Dr. Stanley takes us even further with a new, ground-breaking study of America's wealthy. In THE MILLIONAIRE MIND he targets a different segment of the population and those who have accumulated substantial wealth and live in ways that openly demonstrate their affluence. Exploring the ideas, beliefs and behaviors that enabled these millionaires to build and maintain their fortunes, Dr. Stanley provides a fascinating look at who America's financial elite are and how they got there. What were their school days like? How did they respond to negative criticism? What are the characteristics of the millionaire's spouse? Is religion an important part of their lives? The author uncovers the surprising answers to these and similar questions, showing readers through concrete examples just what it is that makes the wealthy prosper when others would turn away dejected or beaten. The Millionaire Mind promises to be as transformational as Dr. Stanley's previous best- seller. This book answers universal questions with solid statistical evidence in an approachable, and anecdotal style. The number of copies sold of this soon-to-be-classic will surely be inæthe millions.

5 out of 5 stars Another great book by Thomas Stanley .......2007-09-27

Interesting insights into the typical millionaire personality. If you liked the Millionaire Next Door, this is an interesting book written along the same lines.

2 out of 5 stars Statistical truth is half truth.......2007-09-10

I actually bought this by mistake. I was looking for Harv Ecker's book Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind, which I liked even less.

Want to become a millionaire? Forget it if you're a single woman. Forget it if you're a man who chooses to marry a woman with dreams of her own. This book winds up being so supportive of the 'father knows best' stereotype of what leads to success that I found it annoying. This book looks for, and finds, great successful MEN who own businesses, go to church, have "supportive loving" wives and families. They turn out to be the largest group of the rich. What a surprise.

2 out of 5 stars Save your money and buy "The Millionaire Next Door" instead.......2007-08-13

I love "The Millionaire Next Door" (TMND) so much that I buy it 100 copies at a time to give away as gifts. That book is a financial planner's dream book because it explains in detail what we as a profession know about how most people become wealthy in America. Do buy that book -- it is fabulous.

This book is a disappointing follow-up. The typical millionaire that Stanley profiles here has a $600,000 income and a $9 million net worth. There are not too many people that I know that could believe they will ever earn that kind of income or have that kind of net worth. However, I do know many people who make $60,000, $80,000, $125,000, $150,000 or some other achievable income who do become millionaires or even multimillionaires. There is not much that they are going to find in this book that they are going to connect to, while TMND is chock full of "how to's" to become an "every day" millionaire.

This book is much too long, it is poorly edited, and as a result it is plain old boring. It reminds me of the boring textbooks I had to read in college. I was often incredulous that the person who wrote TMND could have written this book! He has obviously lost the good editor he used in the past. The book says in 400 pages what easily could have been said in 150 pages. It is full of mind numbing details and statistics.

I love to tell people that if you want to become a millionaire, then imitate millionaires. Dr. Stanley does a fabulous job in TMND delineating what millionaires really do:

1. Get out of debt and stay out of debt.

2. Save money; always pay yourself first. Spend less than you make. The typical millionaire saves 15-20% of their income.

3. Buy used cars and do not lease cars. You'll have plenty of time to drive luxury cars after you are rich -- don't do it while you were becoming rich as it will really slow down your efforts.

4. Buy a house and live in it for 20 years. If you upgrade every five years to keep up with the Joneses, you will never become rich.

5. Track your spending. Live frugally. Spend your money on what is important to you and not what will impress the Joneses. Do not spend money on "status artifacts" as Stanley calls them.

6. You do not need to make a ton of money to become a millionaire. If you follow steps one through five above long enough, you will eventually become a millionaire.

If you are in a business where your target market is people with at least a $10 million net worth and an income of at least $600,000, then it might be worth your time to slog through the tiresome details in this book. Otherwise, buy TMND and you'll know how Tom Stanley earned such a good reputation.

Highly Recommended read - it will change the way you think & spend your money.

4 out of 5 stars Great information, and good on the commute (audio version).......2007-08-11

Aside from usefulness of content, one factor I always take into consideration into how easy it is to listen to is the reader, in this case, Cotter Smith is very enjoyable and easy to listen to. In terms of content, we get to look into more of Thomas Stanley's reasons for researching the affluent, and even some of his students. There is a lot of useful information here, although it isn't quite as good as The M Next Door, which I'm sure the other reviewers have already mentioned. Recommended, whether it's for reading or listening to on the way to work.

I look at this deck of cards as a nice gift to myself, another little investment in myself and my future. There's a lot of cards. Someone said there's 50 of them? That sounds about right. The cards are big and nice looking. They come in a nice, sturdy box made of thick, glossy cardboard. They remind you of Harv's principles without you having to write them down yourself. I don't think this deck is as critical to have as his book, but it's nice to have and use. What the heck, it's only $15. That's nothing compared to how much more money you'll make as a result of Harv's teachings. One of my big problems was having limiting subconscious beliefs, which I have been dimly aware of for many years. I had this vague feeling that I must've been holding myself back for some unknown reason. Now I am finally freed to have great goals and to pursue them very aggressively! I also found Brad Yates e-tapping recordings to be very helpful to free my subconscious even more. He's a hypnotist and he uses EFT techniques and he's AWESOME at it. So I recommend everyone also look into Brad Yates on the web. Harv is not the only one who helps you free yourself of subconscious limits. Good luck to everyone in reaching your dreams and goals - champagne wishes and caviar dreams.

Another self-improvement expert I once read, (DENNIS WAITLY, if I remember correctly), in his book, "THE POWER OF WINNING", stated that it's important to have REPETITION of good
guidelines, in order to remember them. I guess that's true
with anything....good, bad, or indifferent. If there isn't
enough REPITITION of sayings, ideas, guidelines....you probably
won't remember them all that much. For instance, listening to a motivational speaker may put you on "cloud 9" for a few hours, and make you feel ambitious and eager to help both yourself and the rest of the world. But...if you don't have a tape or a book to re-listen or re-read the motivational speaker's words, most of them will be forgotten by the end of the week -- not to mention for the rest of your life.

People these days are busy. Not only that -- but attention spans have evaporated to almost zero, thanks to the almost instantaneousness of movies, TV, and yes, even (at times), the Internet, as well. Look at the books and speeches of the 19th century, and compare them to todays' -- graceful circumlocution, (that means big words with great sentence structure), pervades
in the prose, say, of Lincoln and Poe....but not in today's
written word. Compare, even, the writing in newspapers of the 19th century with today's. For better or worse, we moderns demand a simpler syntax, and more elementary writing.

The book, 'SECRETS OF THE MILLIONAIRE MIND', by T. Harve Eker, is a slim, easy-to-digest volume. (It was also Number 1 on the best-seller lists of The New York Times, AND The Wall Street Journal, AND USA Today!! : ) But these cards, distilled from his book ,,by the same author, are even easier to understand -- and that is a great asset for us modern, sadly all-too-often "literarily-lazy" folk. Each card is a delightful, thoughful, and VERY succinct one or two sentence summary of a basic wealth-building principle. Most of them seem like just good common sense -- but how often are our own best instincts swayed, (and sometimes toppled!) by the negative attitudes of others? For instance, one of the cards reads:

.......Rich people admire other successful peo9ple,
.......poor people resent them. If you view wealthy
.......people as bad in any way, you can never be rich,
.......because how can you be something you don't liike?

To which I add: for every J. Pierpoint Morgan, there is also
a Robert Kennedy! It's hard to remember this, though, in a world of tabloid journalism, and paparazzi, which seem to delight in pulling down those who have "made it". One needs
these cards -- or other constant reminders of common sense,
common courtesy, common decency, and all over positivity, in a world too filled with negativity and pessimism.

One thing I am guilty of is believing that everyone knows everything better than I do. I've come, slowly, to suspect that this just may not be true -- there just might be some things I know better than a lot of people, (not many things...but a few.)
One of Mr. Eker's cards, (which I just received today), seems to have been written just for me, (and others who think the way I do, in this instance):

.......If you believe that you're 'not enough',
.......you'll validate that believe and create
.......the reality that you don't HAVE enough.
..............But if you believe that you're MORE
.......than enough, you'll create more than
.......enough in every part of your life. "

Oh -- so THAT'S why I'm a shopaholic! (One reason, anyway.)
True, I don't know everything...but I do know SOME things. Such aas....eat fruits, and vegetables, eat before 6:PM, eat and drink "volumizing" foods, (such as chocolate milk, instead of a chocolate bar), and keep a food diary. I've lost 30 pounds this way. I'm by no means an expert on the subject -- BUT I DON'T NEED ANY MORE DIET BOOKS, BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT...OR AT LEAST, HOW I CAN LOSE WEIGHT!

So, Mr. Ekar's cards have already increased my self-esteem, and are helping me with my shopaholicism! Let's see what other cards say....hmmmmm...

..............Thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to actions,
..........which lead to results.
..............If you choose to think and act like rich people
..........do, you can create the ressults that rich people
..........create."

Another self-help expert said it like this: "If you want to
be rich, see what poor people do, and DON'T do it!"

So, if a show comes on TV, highlighting the life, say, of
John Dillinger, it's better to change the channel....or perhaps rread up on the life of Bill Gates, Eleanor Roosevelt, Helen Keller, JFK, FDR, or Abraham Lincoln!

On the reverse side of each of these cards is a illustrative
drawing, by artist SARAH WILKINS. All of the drawings are truly appropriate for the subject matter. Many of them could also stand as works of art on their own. Ms. Wilkins has a moderistic bent, with a realistic touch -- her works remind me a bit of the work of Max Earnst. Many have a dream-like quality -- but all are realistic enough to discern everything painted. Some of these paintings could easily find their way into the New York Museum of Modern Art, I feel! They illustrate Mr. Eker's principles in a way no one can miss!

You may agree with some of these cards more than you do others...but all the cards have the hallmark of being written
by someone who not only wants to make a profit from selling them, but also someone who sincerely wants to help others.
Maybe it's lonely at the top. Maybe he just wants to share
what he has. Whatever his reasons, these little cards, with
their "bite-size" bits of wisdom, are the
perfect companion to his more expansive, but still compact
book. Reading these "nuggest of knowledge" is easier even
than reading his small volume on which they are based...which means more repetition! Like a neophyte capitalist's counterpart to the Chinese "Little Red Book of the Sayings of Chairman Mao", these
cards can mold you into a fully-formed compassionate, (and wealthy!) capitalist....one who believes in the value of people, as much as you do in the value of money. Both are important, and valuing one often leads to valuing of the other, (as who does not want to ultimately aid his or her parents, or other kind relatives, friends, and others you'd like to help?)

So, buy these cards, and shuffle and read them! Every day!If their 3"x 4 1/2" size is too big to take to work, copy them down in a smaller notebook. No, these cards are not as mystical as Tarot cards. However - they are filled with common sense...and probably, good fortune, too! Remember, repetion is what gets ANYTHING across.... And these little cards...to be read at home, during lunch breaks..and even on the bus to work....make the repetition easy!

IN THE END, YOU'LL FIND, AS I DID, THAT RICH PEOPLE ARE NOT A

4 out of 5 stars Practical at a high level........2006-06-11

I may have a slight different perspective on this book since I've only listened to the audio version of it. One thing you have to remember is that this book was written as a "Visionary Plan"; it is by no means an in depth, step-by-step process on how to become a millionaire. The ideas Marc discusses are intended to be practical approaches to disciplining your mind, setting goals, and realizing our full potential. Much of the book tends to focus on overcoming the negative obsticles of our own minds.

I give it only 4 stars because although it's intended to be a high level approach, at times it can be a bit too abstract. I wish Marc would have given further details about how he started his company, along with more concrete examples of how his techniques helped him achieve financial success. Convincing yourself that you can fly is fine, but ultimately the dirt is in the details.

5 out of 5 stars Worthy of SIX Stars!!!.......2006-05-20

I am quite impressed with the easy reading of "The Millionaire Course," by Marc Allen. So many motivational books out there go on and on about religion. Allen uses some quoted bibical passages but it's not overkill. The information is truly worth millions of dollars but Allen eloquently explains that the true Millionaire mindset is of abundance and not of financial wealth. There are unhappy millionaires and happy paupers out there. You get out of life what you put into life. The books contains keys to life... some good, some not so good. There are tips on how to negotiate, how to use honesty and integrity in life and business, and how to become a success through thinking like a success. I definately recommend this book and trying some of the keys and exercises that Allen presents. The most powerful exercise is to WRITE your goals as a plan to achieving them. This book will not make you a millionaire overnight but will help you realize the only hinderance to becoming successful is YOU. Write down Goal #1: Purchase "The Millionaire Course" by Marc Allen. Goal #2: Eliminate negative thinking from my life. Goal #3: ....

5 out of 5 stars This Book Changed My Experience Of Plans.......2006-01-23

I love this book! I am appreciating so much how it has inspired and guided me to do something I never thought I'd like to do -- plan. His step-by-step guide to planning has opened new doors for me, and helped me attract new ideas and new projects I never would have received before. I am entirely wow-ed by the way that a heartfelt plan can attract and flow energy to something I desire. I found it very easy to adapt his ideas to my own intuitive way of thinking and being, and that is working wonders for me now.
Thank you, Marc Allen.

5 out of 5 stars For Those Who Dare To Dream..............2006-01-22

In my work as a professional and personal coach there often comes a point where my client gets an "aha!" about what they really want, who they really are and how they want to live their life. Then the dreaded "yeah, but" closely follows: "Yeah, but what will people think?" "Yeah, but how will I pay the mortgage?" "Yeah, but I'm not qualified!"

Don't misunderstand me. These are legitimate questions that deserve honest consideration. This book offers wise counsel and proven methods for how to reach that place of radical fulfillment where money is no longer the stumbling block standing in the way. The author, Marc Allen, shares his own story of how he moved from a bare and meager existence to millionaire status. More importantly he shows how he stepped into a life of meaning and passion while maintaining his authentic self. I love this book and recommend it highly, along with Allen's other works: A Visionary Life, Visionary Business, and The Ten Percent Solution.

5 out of 5 stars Great guide.......2006-01-11

I truly enjoyed reading this book. I took a lot of notes, have typed up my notes and registered into his e-seminar: he has not only walked the talk, but also has done a lot of the homework for us, and shares where he got his skills from. He gives his sources so we can go read them for ourselves, he shares steps to take to generate our own results, and he is fun to read. Granted this book is a bit of a sales tool to enroll us into taking his seminars etc, but it offers a lot to anyone who is looking for a relaxed way to live the life of one's dreams. He gives us ways to clarify what it is that we want and how to get there. I highly recommend it.

3 out of 5 stars A great review, a poor introduction to the subject matter.......2007-07-04

I believe that this book is a great review for students who understand both Haanel and Wattles. The aphorisms and parables will trigger a resonance if you already undersatnd and appreciate their teachings.
If you don't, this book will seem like random babbling. So if you're a begginer start with a free copy of The Science of Getting Rich then once you feel comfortable, get the Master Key.
Then use this book as a travel companion of "greatest hits." I feel that this book is not foundational but a commentary and refresher course on two of the great teachers on this subject.

2 out of 5 stars Overlooked.......2007-06-01

This book is very poorly typeset. Many overlooks this aspect of reading, but believe me, the content is so serious that requires a better presentation.
I recommend this other book that has an audiobook feature.

5 out of 5 stars Masters of the Secrets - Haanel and Wattles.......2007-04-30

This is a great executive refresher of the teachings of Haanel and Wattles. Easy to read and nice codification of the best teachings of both. I was impressed by the illustrations and explanations of the laws of attraction, laws of gratitude, laws of harmony, & laws of action that are included in this book. Inspiring for anyone who enjoys the: mystics, mind sciences, new thought, the secrets of attraction, and more.

Because there are teachings of 2 people in this book, there are some contrasts in philosophy. Thus, the reviewer below overlooked that simple fact. The review below simply wants to plug his website and his spam should be removed. Before listening to the multi-level marketer below, buy the book and see what its like to go to the next level of mental science and understand the secrets of these 2 greats.

Kindest Regards, Wattles

3 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings........2007-03-26

This book has a fantastic and promising title . . . but, it just doesn't deliver enough.[..]

A good feature of this book is that the text is in large Arial font, printed on a slightly off-white paper (I personally think it is quite easy to read, no strain on the eyes at all. Although they could have done it without using Bold font - way too thick and harsh!)

The book is basically a short summary (about 58 pages) of two other books: "The Master Key System" by Charles F. Haanel and "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace D. Wattles.

The book has a few inconsistencies which are quite confusing. For example, on one page it says, in order to achieve your desires "be absorbed in the goal or object of your desires . . . a FEW MINUTES every day" and then, on another page, ". . . visualize and contemplate on your goals and ideas DAY AND NIGHT."

Also, the "bonus" section called "Critique and Summary of the Philosophy of Wallace Wattles", is not a critique at all. There is nowhere in it any criticizing, criticism, or critical comments on Mr. Wallace's work. What it really is, is a short (about 8 pages long) summary of concepts from the "Science of Getting Rich" book, peppered with some of Prof. Mentz's own ideas.

The book gives good general principles for materializing your desires, but does not provide a structured, practical, step-by-step clear method.

The section at the end called "Glossary", although a very useful section (it may even be the best 7½ pages in the book), is only a list of terms in paragraph form (and most of them are not even taken from the book itself!), without accompanying definitions.

I have mixed feelings recommending this book. Instead, if you are interested, go to self-improvement-ebooks.com and obtain the original versions in eBook format at a very reasonable cost (however, these are a much lengthier read). I especially enjoyed Wallace D. Wattles' Lessons in Constructive Science series contained in some of his collections.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Manual for Abundance and Prosperity.......2006-08-15

This author takes The original Great manuscript -- The Master Key System by Haanel and codifies the 24 parts into a wonderful executive summary and manual on the teachings of Haanel. The book also has a critique of the secret 4 parts that are hard to get (parts 25, 26, 27, and 28).

Moreover, this manuscript has a really cool bonus chapter and summary on the applied metaphysics of The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles.

In sum, the books "brings it all together" for Haanel and Wattles and also contains a nifty metaphysical glossary in the back. Overall, it is a short, easy to read, super inspirational little book, and it is obvious that the author has done his homework.

This text is also a good source and supplement for persons interested in business leadership, building success on a spiritual level, Buddhist or Hindu Success Writings, Christian mysticism, and The philosophy of the great thinkers of success. A must buy if you want to go to the next level of your prosperity thinking.

Automatic Wealth, The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind-Including:As a Man Thinketh, The Science of Getting Rich, The Way to Wealth and Think and Grow Rich

The Bestsellers on this Book give sound advice about money or how to obtain it. Just shoot to the stars and stay focused on your dreams and it will happen. There is nothing that we can imagine, that we can't do. So what are we waiting for, let's begin the journey of self fullfillment.

4 Bestsellers in 1 Book:

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

Your thoughts and your dreams determine what you are and what you will be. This little book is meant to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that they themselves are makers of themselves, by virtue of the thoughts which they choose and encourage. Contents: Effect of Thought on Circumstances; Effect of Thought on Health and Body; Thought and Purpose; Thought Factor in Achievement; Vision and Ideals; Serenity;

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles,

THIS book is pragmatical, not philosophical; a practical manual, not a treatise upon theories. It is intended for the men and women whose most pressing need is for money; who wish to get rich first, and philosophize afterward. It is for those who have, so far, found neither the time, the means, nor the opportunity to go deeply into the study of metaphysics, but who want results and who are willing to take the conclusions of science as a basis for action, without going into all the processes by which those conclusions were reached.

The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin

The first American book on personal finance, The Way to Wealth by Benjamin Franklin is still the best and wisest money book ever written. Originally published in 1758 as the preface to Poor Richard' s Almanack, this little gem has been through innumerable printings and sold millions of copies to those in search of smart but entertaining advice about hard work, earning and saving money and debt. As the 21st Century charges along and the current economic climate continues to send out mixed messages, Franklin' s simple but wise commentary on the value of industry and frugality resonates as much for us today as it did for listeners nearly 350 years ago. This book is very short, but he gets to the point.

Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

"Whatever your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve." Napoleon Hill

Be prepared, therefore, when you expose yourself to the influence of this philosophy, to experience a CHANGED LIFE which may help you not only to negotiate your way through life with harmony and understanding, but also to prepare you for the accumulation of material riches in abundance. Teaching, for the first time, the famous Carnegie formula for money-making, based upon the THIRTEEN PROVEN STEPS TO RICHES.

Organized through 25 years of research, in collaboration with more than 500 distinguished men of great wealth, who proved by their own achievements that this philosophy is practical.

5 out of 5 stars Automatic Wealth 1 : The Secrets of The Millionaire Mind.......2007-05-07

This was an excellent collection of similar material. It helps to have them in one volume to cross reference
or to quote a particular author. The size of the book ( slightly larger than the typical paperback ) was
also a plus !!
I would highly recommend this collection.

5 out of 5 stars THE BEST classic books on abundance and wealth.......2007-03-29

Where do I start with these books? Classic! Timeless! Must read! I sound like I'm writing copy for a blockbuster best seller. These books are the basis for many of the wealth and abundance work that we see today. Look at all the new material and then compare with these and you will see that the new ones have been updated in language and example, but the truths remain the same.
I believe in going to the source of popular material and especially The Science of Getting Rich and Think and Grow Rich are the wonderful. Both are short reads, but the concepts may have you going back over and over to clarify what seems to be amazing assertions. Take the messages seriously and you may seriously change your life and financial situation!

4 out of 5 stars The Key.......2007-01-04

This audio CD is great for people looking to understand how to increase their value as a money maker in today's society. The principles are great I've already started to develop a new way of thinking, it's really teaching you how to be aware of how easy it is to get ahead in life. Plus it's convenient, I just pop it in the CD player an listen, but the trick is to listen to it consistently if you want change to come your way.

3 out of 5 stars A Fact-Finding Motivational Read!.......2007-03-28

The Millionaire Mind is an inspiring and fact-filled read backed by "the numbers" as presented by Stanley. Its value is in the motivation more so the "study".

The strong points of the book are:

1) The importance of courage and faith in breaking away from the masses toward financial independence. We've read it before, but the fact that Stanley presents nice case studies to support his academic research is encouraging for those that may need a roadmap.

2) The importance of one's vocation. In today's information rich world where the information is delivered at super fast speeds, many striving entrepeneurs (or established) get bombarded with the next "big thing". One week it's franchises; the next week it's real estate; the next week it's bonds, and it's always the market. Stanley book proves what I always thought to be true: Have a passion for your business, focus on the service/product, and count the money when you have time because with the right team and focus there will be plenty to count at the end of the day.

3) Education: As an entrepeneur that knows plenty of other entrepeneurs I found this section not so much revealing but interesting. There is really no study needed. There are "whiz kid" entrepeneurs as well as the average "Joe" in school finding his way to wealth. However, just in my living in the world I know that intelligent beings are often prone to out-think themselves, or slow to take action because they may be big on having all the facts or information - or something is "just not right." But there are some average people that take no action -- well, because they are average. Most readers of this book are probably aware of the fact that academic intelligence does not necessarily equate to wealth; however, this information didn't necessarily state average is not so bad, but there are two types of intelligence and academic intelligence is just half of the picture of what may determine one's future.

With all that, this book was inspiring at times while at others - downright boring. The chapters are somewhat misplaced because Stanley offers a neat summary in the beginning of the book instead of the end. In addition, this book may have been more interesting (read fun) if it encouraged you to take some action since it's part academic and part motivational. Yes, it's nice to read about the Millionaire Mind, but some simple exercises that may get one thinking would have been great! For example at the end of the vocation chapter, a exercise that asked the questions (which forces the writing and thinking) would have been in order: How much do you love your vocation? Would you do it for no pay? Does it match your desires and skill set? -- etc. etc.

All-in-All I recommend that you read this book slow. It's not a quick read in my opinion because it's not a smooth read. It's a read where you take a chapter at a time to find out something you may have already known, backed by some data (of course presented to support the conclusions), mixed in with a little motivation.

Read it while reading your "how to" and "action" oriented business books -that way you don't lose time while staying motivated and you have a blueprint of some of those that are beside you or beaten a path for you. By the way: The appendixes included in this book are worth your study; note the trends!

3 out of 5 stars Quite boring, read "The Millionaire Next Door" instead.......2006-02-14

After the tremendous success of "The Millionaire Next Door", Dr. Stanley changes slightly the focus of his research ... and publishes a sequel. This time, instead of asking the question "who" are the US wealthy, he focuses on "how" they got to financial success.

From scientific perspective, this book presents a high quality research, abundant in statistical data and its analysis. And this makes the book boring to read. It reads very much like a thesis paper, and unless you are interested in the exact percentage of millionaires who consider tenacity a more important factor than SAT scores for achieving financial success, then you may find yourself falling asleep over this book. At least I was.

Also, the chapter about school grades and SAT scores makes an impression that the overwhelming majority of self-made millionaires are school drop-outs who miserably failed their SAT scores and can not spell. Well, that may be statistically correct, but what is missing here is the statistics of how many school drop-outs barely meet the ends or wind up in correctional institutions.

Finally, my recommendation for you is to read "The Millionaire Next Door" instead of "The Millionaire Mind".

5 out of 5 stars More than a repeat of Millionaire Next Door.......2005-12-30

I enjoyed the Millionaire Next Door, but I was concerned this book would not have any significantly new findings. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book had some new findings that I don't remember being covered in the Millionaire Next Door.

One new finding that surprised me was that most millionaires realize they have personal limitations and they do not hesitate to hire CPA or attorney's for advice. As a life long do-it-yourselfer in many fields, I have trouble sometimes admitting I should seek out experts in fields I have little expertise in. A few years ago I sought out the help of a very experienced estate planning attorney and was very pleased his advice. It is always tough to look yourself in the mirror and realistically understand your own strengths and weaknesses.

Another new finding was absolutely no correlation between college grades or SAT scores and income or wealth. I have observed this finding as I have gone through life, but had never seen formal studies that proved this fact.

The finding that it takes a lot of courage to be a long term investor in the U.S. stock market is one that I strongly agree with. After living through the recession of 81, the Crash of 87, and the Crash of 00, I know how difficult it is to stay fully invested and not sell out at the market lows.

All in all, this book has enough new information and findings to be worth the read.

I would suggest companion books to supplement this book including The Richest Man in Babylon, Bogle on Mutual Funds, The Millionaire Next Door, The 4 Pillars of Investing, A Random Walk Down Wall Street, Wealth of Experience: Real Investors on what Works and What Doesn't, Index Mutual Funds: How to Simplify Your Life and Beat the Pros, The Coffeehouse Investor, and the Armchair Millionaire.

Book Description

Through trial and error, Marc Allen discovered a specific set of principles to help people attain financial success and lasting satisfaction while doing what they love. The tools are simple, and everyone has them: "a miraculous body, a phenomenal brain, and a vast and powerful subconscious mind. Now it's just a matter of focusing them in the right direction." In his books and seminars, Allen shows how to create one's ideal scene; discover higher purpose; write a business plan simply and effectively; find capital to start a business; and discover the benefits of adversity. Listeners can gain this wisdom at their convenience in this three-CD set. Recorded live at the author's seminars, this is an audio original — not an audio version of the author's book of the same name. Noted for his humorous, relaxed style, Allen offers both inspiration and instruction in The Millionaire Course Seminar, putting the listener on the right track both philosophically and psychologically. Not simply a set of motivational ideas, the course is a powerful plan for creating a life of material and spiritual abundance.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars not great, not bad..........2007-01-11

This is ok. If you can see past all the new age stuff, then you might like it. This person is of the school of thought of Zen, and Eckhart Tolle, so if you like that stuff, I recommend this audio book.

2 out of 5 stars "Misleading".......2005-02-24

This book/CD would never have been published if the author wasn't also the publisher. I guess once your rich you can get away with a lot. I'm just glad I checked it out at the library! If you are into new-age/metaphysical mumbo-jumbo you'll love this. It reeked of "A Course in Miracles", and listening to Marc Allen reminded me a lot of Wayne Dyer (voice and monotone). After trashing this work I will point out that the author did speak about prioritizing and acting on your dreams. These two attributes alone should account for at least 3 stars. I just found it boring, and am sick of authors like Marc Allen, Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Mark Fisher, Anthony Robbins, etc. throwing the word 'millionaire' or 'billionaire' into the title--just to trap the unaware. I've listened to tons of the stuff, read the books and tried some of the methods. I aint rich yet. Hey, I've got an idea! Maybe I should write a book...I'll call it "Let's All Be Millionaires (or Billionaires). At least I'll get rich!

4 out of 5 stars Advice beyond business.......2004-04-22

This audio book has words of wisdom from a self-made millionaire who takes a more relaxed approach to life's challenges and situations than most `Type A' success stories. The main focus here is learning to do what you love and creating a career out of it. Some of the lesson topics include: "Imagine your ideal scene," "Discover your core beliefs, and learn how to change them," and "Grow at your own pace.
