Book Description
An essential addition to any fan's collection of Stargate SG-1 memorabilia, this is the ultimate companion to the long-running sci-fi television series.
Customer Reviews:
Fantastic overview!.......2007-08-24
"Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide" is an excellent overview of everything SG-1 through Season 9. The pictures are fantastic! There are great sections on each of the major characters and even some great sections on the minor characters (like Sgt. Siler). The breakdown of the Goa'uld infrastructure shows exactly how involved the creators of the show are. There are also a lot of pictures and descriptions of the technology of the SGC, their allies and enemies. Absolutely fantastic for the tecno-geek who loves that stuff (like me!). A must-have for anyone interested in the world of SG-1.
A Visual Guide For Stargate Fans.......2007-08-10
The 'Stargate Ultimate Visual Guide' is a good book for those Stargate fans who are fairly new to the series or would like to add to their 'Stargate' collections. The text is well written and the photos are nice and clear.
The book does provide a brief summary of each of the Stargate personnel, an overall summary of the Asgardians and their enemies, alien civilizations encountered by the team, Replicators, technology and some of the story arcs. The book does not go into any great depth overall with characters or plots but a novice fan can get a good idea of the characters and the major story arcs.
Overall the book is a good book to present to novice Stargate fans or for devoted followers of the show. The only drawback? You cannot dial a gate of your own.
A fine survey of Stargate SG-1's popular television science fiction world.......2007-07-08
A 'visual guide' DVD is included with a fine survey of Stargate SG-1's popular television science fiction world, from discussions of characters, technologies, and stories to 600 color images from the series. This would make the perfect gift for any avid Stargate SG-1 fan: it packs in trivia and information about the series and the bonus DVD includes interviews, a gallery of original artwork by James C.D. Robbins, and even a trivia game.
Lots of fun.......2007-07-04
For all those Stargate: SG1 junkies who needed a little more information about their favorite show. Or just needed to re-visit the SGC since it's no longer a first run series. This is the book for you. Filled with fun facts, photos, and lots of trivia. Did you know Major Lorne on Stargate Atlantis once lead and SG team? I didn't, but now I do. Not for the casual viewer, more for the fanatic, it's fun.
Stargate SG-1 Ultimate Visual Guide.......2007-07-01
This is a great general reference for the Stargate series.
It is hardcover with glossy colour pages throughout, and contains hundreds of photos and diagrams. The main focus of the book is on the characters and events. There was limited coverage of Alien spacecraft like the Asguard and Goa'uld ships and I felt that the technology and weapons coverage could have been more comprehensive. Still well worth picking up.

The Rocky Ultimate Guide is an essential must Have for all Rocky Fans
Rocky: The Ultimate Guide Goes the Distance.......2007-02-13
Rocky: The Ultimate Guide is a winner. Beginning with the Foreward by Sylvester Stallone to the stories on each of the Rocky films, including the latest, "Rocky Balboa", this is a must for any fan. The behind the scenes photography and information from the movies add to enjoyment of the book. Go for it!
Rocky: The Ultimate Guide.......2007-01-23
I first purchased this book as a Christmas gift for a friend who is a major Rocky Fan. He liked it, and then I purchased a copy for myself, as I too am a Rocky fan. I'm still enjoying it.
Excellent Item.......2007-01-19
This book is for any true Rocky fan either young or old. I highly recommend it! The pictures are awesome from every single Rocky movie and the writing recaps everyone also. This book also offers some of the most memorable quotes thoughout the movies that are sure to have you walking down memory lane. A+++++ all the way.
Excellent Information Source .......2007-01-15
Rocky: The Ultimate Guide by Edward Gross is the definitive source for Rocky information. The book has many pictures that illuminate the authoritive text. The actual cover features a glorious photo of Rocky the Champion and the book was nicely arranged (even beautifully, if I may). The foreward by Sylvester Stallone provides a nice perspective on his feelings about Rocky. Furthermore, the last section of the book is an indepth study on the making of the Rocky series including Rocky Balboa (2006). Each movie has at least two pages on the main fight between Rocky and an opponent. However, the book was edited with some imperfections:
p.68 "The Soviets were were there to demonstrate..."
p.115 "Rockys" (instead of Adrian's the real name of the restaurant in Rocky Balboa)
p.115 "to use Adrian's life assurance..."
p.141 "But the third jusdge..."
p.140 "Lightweight: 112 lb. (51kg)...Middleweight: 79kg/175 lb...157-465 lb (70-72.5 kg)"
A page dedicated to Duke, Apollo's trainer, would have been a nice addition. Overall this is an excellant information source but some mistakes were overlooked. ****½

CSI: The Coffee Table Book.......2007-08-29
Good for reading once, then just takes up space. Pretty pictures of the cast, talks about the characters as though they were real people.
Nice pictures - little content.......2007-01-18
I thought the book was nice - great graphics, extras, etc. However, the book is small for the price.
Excellent Read.......2007-01-15
If you love CSI, this is the book for you. Loads of full color pictures and glossery terms explaining what all the terms those CSIs throw around really mean. Individually write ups on all the characters and just a really fun read. I highly recommend.
Ultimate CSI---The original title says it all........2007-01-11
This is a must have for fans of the CSI series. Has a nice layout and the pictures alone are worth the price of the book.
Great book.......2007-01-10
I loved this book, it covers all six seasons and then some. Gives some very good insight into the show and the forensics as well as the characters. I am so glad I bought it. I recommend it.

The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book is the joyously affirmative answer to the question "Is there an alternative to the prepackaged bus tour of Tinseltown?" William Gordon's guide delivers all the juicy scandal you've come for, but at your pace, at your discretion, and without crackly speakers blasting in your ear. You want to see former homes of Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, or Elvis Presley, current homes of Elizabeth Taylor, Ronald Reagan, or Hugh Hefner, and the site of the Charles Manson cult murders? Gordon helps you conduct your own exploration, and supplies invaluable tidbits of information, such as how Jayne Mansfield came to receive $50,000 worth of free merchandise to decorate her Pink Palace. Gordon covers 32 neighborhoods, providing a practical tour guide as well as a fun gift for the star-struck and Hollywood-bound.
Book Description
The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book is the first and only book to reveal where today's Hollywood lives, works, and plays. Arranged geographically, the book covers not only Hollywood, the community, but more than 30 separate areas of greater Los Angeles where entertainment history was made (see contents).
To make sightseeing as easy as possible, the book features 33 easy-to-follow maps.
To ensure accuracy, The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book is updated once a year. The publisher is now offering to provide readers with e-mail updates if any new attractions open (or are discovered).
Customer Reviews:
Not your average tacky guide book........2007-01-12
The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book is full of interesting facts, historical tidbits and interviews with Hollywood natives that provide readers with a realistic view of Hollywood, past and present. As any worthwhile tour guide should, this book lists hundreds of locations of interest to visit in and around the Hollywood area, extending it's reach to surrounding Los Angeles communities that have ties to the entertainment business. However, the tone of Gordon's book is informative, straightforward and friendly, not off-putting or intentionally misleading, as some guide books can be.
Not surprisingly, Gordon's book is even a fun read for those of us born and raised in Hollywood. For me it brought back memories of old haunts, and it evoked nods of approval among friends as we read through many accurate descriptions of favorite locales and pages of sound advice about what to visit and why, as well as what to avoid.
Whether you're a native of the Los Angeles area, a tourist planning just a few days' visit to Hollywood, or a local history buff searching for a fun and interesting book to read, you can't go wrong picking up a copy of William Gordon's Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book.
Wish I had this book a few years ago.......2005-11-08
About 5 years ago I took a summer job giving tours of Hollywood on an old trolley car. One of my most memorable experiences was the day one of the guides for the Beverly Hills tour got sick and I was thrown into the front seat of a tour van and sent on my way to give a tour of the star's homes. It was without a doubt one of the more embarrassing moments of my life as it wasn't my regular gig and I had to make a lot of stuff up because I had no idea whose house was whose and the guy driving the van was as clueless as I was. But if the owner's of the tour company had seen fit to give me this book beforehand I would have known where I was and all those tourists wouldn't have asked for their money back when the tour was over.
Tinseltown Mania.......2003-04-12
There must be 50 Hollywood homes books on the market. If you visit Beverly Hills, a tour-bus or map salesman will gladly take your money. But W. Gordon's remarkably accurate and truthful guide will spell out where the buses point out homes where movie stars never lived. Gordon provides detailed directions and maps to the sites you want to see. And loads of "goodies" and information. He shows you how to get to Arnold's palatial block of homes in Brentwood, and warns that driving there is a $ 500 fine and possible jail time! Wow! He also gives directions to Rudolph Valentino's original 1920's mansion(and much, much more). Forget the B.S. Here it is. When I e-mailed him for an up-date, he gladly provided it for free(see the book). Why waste time driving around freeways?
Decidedly Worth Your Time (and $).......2002-03-02
This is a not so typical tour guide which provides its reader with a lot of bang for his/her buck. It provides information which is fairly accurate regarding the living (who tend to move quite a bit). The listings provided for death scenes are very accurate (assuming you only die once). Ditto for burial sites (assuming that remains stay put in one place.....unfortunately, that isn't always true as I seem to always be finding out). What is really impressive about the many editions of this book that have been published to date is that the author constantly updates the information in the book, so that it is as accurate as it can be given the odd and fluctuating state of celebrity mindsets (and fortunes).
So if you are willing to assume that some of the information may become outdated, you will probably enjoy this book quite a bit.
Great resource for DIYers with cars.......2000-05-09
When I took an exploratory job trip for two weeks in L.A., I had a copy of the previous edition of "The Ultimate Hollywood Tour Book" and found a lot of cool stuff using this book. (I drove by O.J. Simpson's home -- which he has since sold -- as well as the former homes of Joan Crawford and Shirley Temple in Brentwood).
Since I drove down from San Francisco I stopped in Malibu and drove through some of the exclusive star neighborhoods mentioned in here (that was the first time I'd ever seen a street sign marked "Private") and I saw someone who looked suspiciously like Pierce Brosnan riding his bike and he waved! Surreal!
The maps were black and white, but still good enough to get me where I wanted to go; used in conjunction with a regular street map, you won't go wrong. As far as I know, there's no other guide book to L.A./Hollywood like this. So if you don't want to feel like a tourist and see all the regular stuff PLUS stuff no one will tell you about GET THIS BOOK!

The Ultimate TV Game Show Book is a virtual cornucopia of fun, frivolity and fabulous facts from more than fifty years of games shows.
Customer Reviews:
Do not buy if you want game show details........2005-10-16
If you are looking for a fun, trivia-type book, then this is the book to buy. I was looking for a book that would provide more detail than what this book does. It is laid out like a high school scrapbook....lots of pictures, many trivial pieces of information, etc. Many of the captions on the photos were ok, but the authors didn't elaborate on some of the most interesting ones. I guess I was expecting more than what was delivered.
Good Book - Only One Flaw.......2005-09-08
This is a good compilation of information about TV game shows, including lists, fun facts and tons of pictures. The only flaw is that some of the pictures cut off the very top, meaning that some people's heads are not showing. I suspect that is a publishing error. Still, a very good book.
This Book Is Game Show Heaven.......2005-06-22
I'm a game show junkie and have been for years My earliest game show memory is lkistening to "Quuen for a Day" on radio. When I first saw "Password" on TV I was hooked and have obsessed on game shows ever since. Ryan and Wostbrock have produced a book that has delighted me more than anything in years. It is informative and sheer fun at the same time. The book consists of a series of lists and some of the best game show photos that I've ever seen in print. Check out those cute, really young photos of Gene Rayburn and Regis Philbin. The authors' other book "The Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows" is the main course, substantial and a great resource for any game show fan. I've used it to settle more than one argument. On the other hand this book is dessert-delicious delightful and begging to be dipped into over and over. How many catchy game show phrases can you quote? What To Tell the Truth imposters later became celebrities in their own right? What popular game show host changed his name from Colin Emm? I could go on and on, but you're just going to have to read the book for yourself to find these answers and so many more. Steve Ryan and Fred Wostbrock have spent many years working in the game show industry. Their knowledge of and love for the format is readily apparent.
This book is Volume 1 and that encourages me to look forward to a volume 2.
Great job guys!

If you love TV..........2006-02-24
If you are a tv junkie like me, this book is a blast. It's a handy offline reference to all the shows now available on DVD, and it's filled with lots of trivia and lists. Be ready to shop because the book will make you want to buy even more DVDs for your home library...
A good off-line reference to keep near the TV.......2005-12-12
This book isn't perfect (I'd rather have more pictures of DVD set covers than old TV Guide covers, for instance, and the descriptions are a bit dry in places), but it IS cool to have a handy-dandy reference like this to use when you can't get online to look up the info. Good to take to the store or keep next to the TV. And if you read the fine print, you'll see that this book was made with the help of data from TVshowsonDVD.com, which is the best place I've seen online for that sort of info. Cool 'dat, and maybe for the next edition of the book TV Guide will work more with that website's staff to talk more about what's new, what's not out (any hints as to why), and what's expected to come soon. You know, show more of the TV-DVD enthusiast in this book...there's a lot of us out here!
Credit should also go to www.tvshowsondvd.com!.......2005-11-03
A fantastic book about the fastest growing area of DVD releases at the moment, TV series! With breakdowns of cast and guides to the best episodes and releases I only hope enough credit goes to the website [...] who helped TV Guide put this book together!
informative tome for tv-philes.......2005-11-01
Fantastic resource for anyone who likes watching reruns and is interested in contemporary tv culture. There are loads of forgotten facts in this book for all the classic tv shows and new ones for current programs. This is an inheritently readable book that belongs next to everyone's tv!
Buy it for everybody on your gift list........2005-10-31
The descriptions of the shows are priceless--they brought back so many memories! And the guide covers a lot of shows that are new or still running, like 24 and ER. I'm not even a serious DVD collector, but the book gives great trivia about all my favorite shows (when they aired, what the names of the original stars were, which episodes went down in TV history). This book is really a history of TV in America, and it covers so many different categories that it really does solve the gift problem for just about everyone on my Christmas list. They won't be able to read just one or two of the listings; once they start in, the trivia will have them hooked. It's organized like a reference book, but It reads like an entertainment magazine.

Essential to RW fan.......2004-06-29
This is my favorite out of The Real World series of books. For starters I love the cover all the faces of each castmember through out the years in a collage. It goes into detailed info on Boston season which is my favorite cast. But the whole book goes further into detail on how the experience was for each castmember from NY to Boston. Tells how each one is dealing with life after their seasons long over with. Funny sections of little captioned squares asking them name 6 other people they would love to live with in The Real World. Also includes a funny little section on each castmembers take on certain words & if they consider Real World a soap opera or documentary. Vibrant colored pictures of the casts. Essential book to have for a RW fan.
MUST BUY THIS BOOK!.......2001-08-07
Why are all the good authors named James? I don't just mean Agee and Jones, I mean Solomon, and he's got more wisdom than that old Iraeli king...this book ROCKS! I couldn't believe how much new stuff I picked up, particularly about the behind the scenes stuff you DON'T see on television...my only gripe was the book seemed too short and could've gone on forever. Maybe it was the breezy yet informative style and intelligent wit of KING SOLOMON, for that's how good he really is. LONG LIVE THE KING! Good writing has never been so royal...ROCK ON!
Enjoyable.......2000-07-10
This book is very interesting and a must for any Real World fan. It gives great info about the casts from New York to Boston. The coverage is very complete and it's a book you'll come back to again and again. I have!
Really Cool Book.......1999-06-28
This book is perfect for any Real World fan as it gives you tons of good info on the seasons 1-6 (there are 8 now). If Boston is your favorite season this is also for you as it has nearly 100 pages on it!
This book is Da Bomb!!!!!!!!!.......1999-02-20
This book is high recommended to those who are and are not followers of RW. The best way to get the lastest scoop is to check it out!!! It's totally awesome and the readability is simple. I've read it three times already in the last week.

Customer Reviews:
For Pure Information Only.......2004-06-23
(spoilers)
If you're looking for pure facts about Hitchcock, this book's got it. It's got everything from a bio on all of Hitch's actors to the name of the shower scene double. However, Howard Maxford lets his opinions get over his information way too often, and as you'd expect, they're not very well informed. For instance, in his review / information on Vertigo (in which he gives the film two out of four stars), he states that there is a plot hole about Scotty not going down to see Madeline's dead body. Yet just a scene after this happens, Scotty's former boss states that Scotty drove home, not stopping to look at the fallen woman. Pretty simple, huh? That's just one of a few uninformed opinions on some of Hitch's films. He also has the bland, film-school statements like, "The main character has no rooting value," or "too much empty space."
In conclusion, Hitchcock A-Z would have been perfect with just the facts. The facts are there, but they're often marred by silly things like the ones above.
