Great product...I would order from you again if the opportunity arose to do so. The book arrived over a week before the expected delivery date, which was GREAT!
Good Foundational Book!.......2002-04-30
I really like the way this book is presented. It provides a really concise yet complete overview of the disabilities most commonly encountered. I also like the pages in the back of each chapter that give teaching strategies in respect to the disability discussed. This is a great book for general educators looking for some information on disabilities and for those beginning to learn about special education. This book gives a great foundation for all the other special education courses that follow it. Great book!
Error found in Chapter 1.......1999-02-16
I found question 12 on page 5 of the Chapter 1 review to be true. The author of the study guide lists the answer as false. The question is taken word by word from page 40 of the text book.

Good deal.......2005-09-15
I got a quick response to my email. Happy to do business with an organization doing some good in the community.
Outstanding.......2005-03-18
I had to use this book during my two semesters of non-calculus college physics, and my first reaction to this 1000+ page monster was mathematical FEAR. However, as I kept reading the book I realized that it explained the majority of concepts clearly even for a person with limited calculus knowledge. The book does an excellent job early on with Newton's three laws, but it gets a little confusing on statics.
The last half of the book was covered in my second semester, and it was also excellent in explaining the topics of thermodynamics, DC and RC circuits, Magnetism and Optics among others. Nevertheless, there were times when the explanation and examples of the book were not enough to answer some of the problems at the end of each chapter. Furthermore, my only complain about the book is that sometimes it uses what my instructor called "Shortcuts" in the sample problems without explaining how the author arrived to a given equation or derivation of a formula. Physics is by no means an easy subject and to do well at it you will need a great instructor and a great book - I was lucky enough to have both.
There are very few books that I keep after I take a class, but I have to say that this book is an invaluable reference that will be in my professional bookshelf for many years.
excellent book.......2004-12-28
This book is very easy to understand and fun to study from. Very helpful for beginners.
Decent but way expensive.......2004-06-16
I had to buy this book for my two general physics courses. I must say this book is the most expensive I've ever bought. This leads me to my first bad critique: this book is unnecessarily large and expensive. The book is full of useless pictures (all in vibrant expensive color), it has too many examples and 1/3 of the majority of the pages are blank. I don't recommend this book if your a poor college student. My second bad critique is that some examples aren't fully explained (particularly with the some equations). Third bad critique: some problems require knowledge that you won't find in the book. There was an instance where I ran into a problem (a double Atwood machine problem) that required knowledge of Newton's laws in non-inertial frames which the book does not provide. I managed to solve this problem with outside help but I must say I felt cheated. My last bad critique: this book has no errata yet!
Now for some good points. The authors exposition of the material is fairly straight-forward. The book is full of problems (some which overly challenging but good nevertheless), covers a great number of topics (45 chapters worth), and uses very little calculus (the majority of the problems involve highschool mathematics).
Not a very good physics book.......2004-06-04
If you're a beginner or not interested in physics stay away from this book. Its mostly geared towards people with high interest and a good reference. Otherwise, the book is very boring to read and all they do is throw formulas at you. Stay away at all costs.

Great book for teachers!.......2006-07-09
This is a great book for teachers to learn more about dealing with children who have exceptionalities. If you are a new teacher or an experienced teacher dealing with inclusion, this book will be perfect for you!
A Great Book If You Want An Intro to Special Education.......2004-07-20
I love this book! I purchased a used copy in 2001 to help prepare for my (then) upcoming Massachusetts State Teacher exam in special education, which I passed on my first try. It is a very useful source of information and contains a ton of facts. It presents special ed topics in a logical fashion and has a nice companion website. I practiced all the online questions since I had to learn a lot of material in a short period of time. The text is geared towards elementary education. However, I read it, even though my field is secondary SPED, because there are many things in it that relate to special education in general that I need to know about. The discussion of historical special ed legislation is especially complete. I just wish I could get my hands on the companion videos that are (or were) offered by the publisher.
Exceptional Textbook.......2003-07-14
I was astonished by both how readable this book is and how much useful information is presented. The book is designed for those entering the field of education and those studying for the Praxis II exam. While the book is targeted to the teaching of exceptional children, regular education teachers, parents and other interested parties would gain a great deal of information from this book. Our assignment was to skim the book - a task I found nearly impossible. I kept getting drawn into the interesting and vivid examples in each chapter. I found the focus questions and review sections to be particularly helpful.
A text which is informative, readable and challenging.......1999-07-23
This is a great text if you are looking for an introductory course text for special education. It is well suited for college and university students or teachers looking to learn more about children as it is easy to read and very informative. With chapters ranging from Planning and Providing Special Education Services to Students with Learning Disabilities to Gifted and Talented Students this text can be of appeal to a wide variety of those who would like to know more about children and how to help children attain their potential. I learned so much - I hope you will too.

Written in clear, plain English, readers will feel as though they are learning from real humans and not Microsoft clones. Sprinkled with a wry sense of humor and an amazing depth of field, this book most certainly isn’t your run-of-the-mill computer book. You should expect plenty of hands-on guidance and deep but accessible reference material.
This isn’t your Dad’s Office! For the first time in a decade, Microsoft has rolled out an all-new user interface. Menus? Gone. Toolbars? Gone. For the core programs in the Office family, you now interact with the program using the Ribbon–an oversize strip of icons and commands, organized into multiple tabs, that takes over the top of each program’s interface. If your muscles have memorized Office menus, you’ll have to unlearn a lot of old habits for this version.

Another good book from the Special Edition Series.......2007-03-30
I have to learn Office 2007 enough to teach it, and there aren't many books out yet for it. The Special Edition series is one that I use for a desktop reference for several programs, and this one goes with them. It's clear, not cute or condescending, has good content, and is easy to refer to with questions. It's a good book to keep on hand as you learn Office 2007.

The book arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I consider this book to be a good resource for new teachers.
I have no complaints.
Great but Incomplete.......2007-03-22
I've been a faithful user of the Lewis & Doorlag book since its first edition. Each subsequent revision has added substance and useful information that makes buying it worthwhile. Of all the introductory texts on special education, this one is the most concise, reader-friendly, practical and up-to-date. It has invaluable teaching strategies and resources to inform the practice of special educators and diagnosticians. The only downside that is consistent across all editions is the unevenness of its content. In virtually every chapter about a given exceptionality, say mental retardation, more emphasis is placed on nature of the disability and teaching strategies than on its causes. Therefore, when using this book as a teaching tool in college, it has to be supplemented with other resources that do more justice to the etiology of each special need.
Informative and Easy-to-Read.......2006-05-03
I am a contract instructor who uses this book for an undergraduate level "Exceptional Children in the Classroom" class. I chose this text because it is practical and not as dry as Heward, another widely respected author of special education texts. Many strategies are provided for meeting the needs of students with disabilities as well as gifted students, those who are at risk, and those who are linguistically and culturally diverse.
A must have for anyone who interacts with children!.......2003-08-05
I originally purchased this book for an education courss. This book offered insight on the inclusion of Special students in a general education class. It offers insights on how to best teach students with various needs including learning disabilites, physical disabilties, and other disabilties. As a teacher it taught me what my resources are. I learned the benefits of inclusion and the positive results that special students need. If you are taking this class they also offer outlines for every chapter at the cwx.prenhall.website as well as testing resources. This edition is almost exactly the same as the 6th.

Required to have this book for a graduate class, but find it is written clearly, in a logical sequence, and covers a wide range of facts. Highly recommend for any behavior analyst.
Behavior Book for Study purpose.......2007-05-20
I bought this book about a month and a half ago. I enrolled in FIt and are doing the behavior analysis course. This book is VERY helpfull for extra examples and the writing is easy to understand. Great book to read if you are interested in human behavior and the processes involved in human behavior. Espacially if you are using it for school purposes.
Applied Behavior Analysis (2nd Ed).......2007-03-12
It was well worth getting the 2nd edition of this book. The feature of matching the content to the tests will be a great study aid for the exam. Also, the current research and added information was very beneficial. If you have the first edition of the text it is well worth the money to get the more current edition.
Great Book!.......2007-03-12
Great read, simple and packed with information, a must for anyone planning to take become a BCBA
Applied Behavior Analysis (2nd Addition).......2007-02-12
Great book for thoses going into the Behavior Analyst field. Very detailed.
Book Description
This market-leading book provides comprehensive coverage of behavior management concepts and techniques and presents them in a versatile and practical manner for teachers.
This new edition has been shortened and streamlined and chapters flow step-by-step through an actual behavior analysis, using classroom-based examples and practices firmly grounded in research. Content is presented in the order of decision-making by: 1) a teacher who has a student exhibiting challenging behavior in class; or, 2) a student who needs to execute a behavior-change project. For Advanced Study.......2007-10-01
I am currently taking a Graduate Level Advanced Behavior Analysis (ABA) class at a local university. This book was a requirement for my class and this class is required for graduation. This class was my first Special Education course and this book is definitely not for someone who doesn't understand reward/punishment with regards to behavior. The book is comprehensive but should not be used for someone looking to "gain a little insight" into ABA. This book encompasses all of ABA. If you are ABA certified, this book will help you "refresh" on the information you've already learned.
Good for Special Educators.......2007-03-08
I had to buy this textbook last year, as I was getting my teaching endorsement in Special Education. It is a good text, although mostly only useful if you are studying this for ceritification (I haven't used since I've been teaching).
Teach yourself to teach kids!.......2006-07-20
This detailed how to book offers a variety of technical interventions and some neccessary theory surrounding Applied Behavior Analysis. It also presents a variety of explanations and examples for classroom use. I really enjoyed the read and highly recommend it. My students also found it usefull!
For learning about ABA and relating to school you cannot beat this book..........2006-05-13
My title states it all. The 7th edition trumps the phenomenal 6th edition in it's inclusion of IDEA 2004/NCLB concepts. It is well worth the price difference between this book and most ABA books.
technical lingo.......2006-03-17
The only thing I really did not like about this book was it had a lot of technical verbage that tends to put one to sleep. The examples and scenarios were helpful in presenting the content.

Book Description
Digital photography has arrived once and for all. No longer do photographers have to be defensive because they prefer digital. Thanks to new technologies, digital cameras at all ends of the price spectrum can rival their film counterparts. If you have shifted from traditional to digital photography, and need to know what's different about shooting digital, this is the book for you. Now in its third edition, this bestseller has been fine-tuned and updated to provide you with the most current information on today's cameras that you'll find anywhere. Whether you're new to photography, or new to digital photography, you'll learn how to take the best possible shots. Even though your camera may pack an image sensor instead of film, taking good pictures still involves understanding apertures, shutter speeds, and metering techniques, as well as a few other issues that film shooters don't face. Fortunately, digital cameras also provide some unique tools to help you get the shot right the first time. Covering everything from the inner workings of your camera to the subtle intricacies of your image editing software, the book is divided into four sections. The first section provides a basic technical foundation that will prepare you for the rest of the book. It details the basics of how digital cameras work and gives you a quick photography primer. The second part explores everything you need to know to make an informed decision about which camera, computer, and software is right for you. In section three, you'll progress to the nitty gritty of shooting, including metering, choosing the right exposure, using histograms, flash photography, and much more. In the final section, you'll learn about digital editing and correction techniques, along with the various methods for outputting your images (print and electronic). If you're new to photography, you'll learn the basic theory that photographers have studied for decades, as well as the latest tools and techniques mad

Excellent reference book.......2007-10-03
Good presentation of basic facts of digital photography. Especially valueable I found the chapters that explained how cameras and digital cameras in particular work and what should be taken into account when selecting your camera.
More advanced topics like editing images with your computer are also covered in an easy to follow fashion. Even though you might not do an awful lot of editing it's good to know where to find the guidance.
This book is most suitable for someone who is not very experienced in photography but reasonably technically oriented and wants to create better quality images taking the best out of his or her camera.
I'm told it's "just what [he] wanted".......2007-09-26
I got this for my friend's birthday. He is fast becoming a very skilled digital photographer and is ready to hone his technical capabilities. I selected this book entirely on others' recommendations. The feedback from my friend is very positive, and I expect to see his work in print any day now! :-)
I love this book!.......2007-05-13
I found this book extremely helpful, having just purchased a digital SLR. It is easy to read and very informative. I would recommend this book for someone that does not know a lot about digital SLR, but is familiar with a film SLR.
Very informative book........2007-04-01
This book answered all the questions my wife and I had about photography. It was easy to understand for a beginner and it goes into intermediate/advanced topics.

+++++++++Good Calc Based Text -- Modern Phys Lacks a Bit+++++.......2007-02-06
I've been using this book for years. I really like it a lot. There are many god things about it. It shows how calculus is used to derive formulas (remember less formulas, really) and solve many problems... good examples that are worth noting (so important). The calculus is almost a lack of what you'll see in Calc classes because it's seeing what's going on in a problem and describe it with calculus... mainly using integrals (set up equations with infinitesimals and taking the integral to solve for what you need). It'd be nice to find a good book on this, but anyway, I took advantage of getting the information from instructors who could explain it more thoroughly. If you follow the calc stuff in the book carefully you should get it, but be aware that you can integrate with respect to one of the other variables (like limits of integration with arc length s vice angle theta). Overall, I feel it could explain the calculus even more... then it would be very complete!
I think this book is very well written, clearly presented, and has pretty much all the classic examples and problems. I think it needs to clear up some modern physics stuff, though. I felt a little lost and needed to search other books on that stuff. BTW, it appears there is a new 2007 edition coming out with "Modern Physics" in the title... so that might be the one to get.
Anyhow, I love how this one has been around a while and it's a great reference for Univ Phys material. There are answer key/solution documents going around everywhere, but it would have been nice to see one in pdf format (the word one substitutes fonts and isn't in "pretty print" math format... a good version should be somewhere on the web... else I'm going to make one). Overall, I give this book a 4.75. The student solutions manual might be worth checking out (I didn't go that way). Thanks and best of luck.
It is a pleasure to read and learn from-a good reference.......2006-11-12
I could write probably pages about this book but I want to keep it short. If you want to learn physics (at college and university level), then go no further. This is THE BOOK. I had used it in class before and I still keep it as a reference. It is easy to read and very well organized. I highly recommend this book.
got me through UC Berkeley physics.......2006-09-21
I used an earlier version of this book when at UC Berkeley a few years ago. It was required for two of my classes and for the third, another book was required, but I always referred back to this one. In fact, I continued to refer to this book after graduating and working as a geophysicist at the USGS. The older version was very easy to follow with a list of useful equations right in the beginning. It did require a fairly good understanding of very basic physics which should come from a high school course. Perhaps the exercises are difficult, but that is only relevant when considering whether your instructor or TA is good or not.
I am now in graduate school and wishing I had not decided to sell this book a couple of years ago and will certainly purchase it again.
Still a great reference.......2005-12-23
I used this book for my highschool AP Physics class in 2001-2002. I just finished the Fall 2005 school semester as a mechanical engineering major, and I have to say that this is by far the most worn-out book I own. I still occasionally pull it out. I own three other textbooks in physics at this level, and I've seen many others; I think this is the most well-written book I've seen for this material. If your instructor doesn't require this book, and if you can find a cheap used copy, I'd recommend getting this to supplement your studies. The pictures and diagrams are great. The text is clear. The formulas are easy to follow. Yes, the problems are rough, but they force you to have a good foundation in calculus, which is absolutely necessary in later courses. Most physics books have similar problems anyway. This isn't the book to get if you need help in math, which is the #1 reason for physics difficulties these days.
Physics Book.......2005-09-25
I was pleased with the condition of the book and the ease that was required to buy the book. However I was disappointed with the mailing it took longer than expected, I paid extra for the speedy shipping yet it still took over 5 days to get here to Minneapolis.
