Needs an update... but still a must for every RFID professional.......2006-05-19
Book provides a solid foundation for RFID physics and the fundamental concepts. It gets really boring at times because of its staright forward approach and technical jargon. There is no other book in the market that capture RFID in such a depth; however the book is requires a immediate update to incorporate EPCglobal standards and other recent developments in the RFID industry.
RFID (RF Coupling in the Near field).......2005-04-07
RFID is a well written book. It covers hardware, regulations,
and RFID applications.
What I like about RFID is that it explains rF devices
in the near -field. Almost every other book I have read is about RF far-field.
The knowledge is useful in understanding the sources of noise in lab equipment caused by high frequency induction fields.
(These signals go right through the usual metal enclosures.)
Its useful.
Good collection of concepts.......2004-04-16
This book has a very good collection of most of the concepts related to RFID and is very useful especially for beginners in RFID. I gave only 4 stars as I was dissappointed not to see any examples for any or almost all the concepts explained. For what it costs, I think it makes sense to add some examples liked to some important concepts.
Great book for understanding the concepts and applications.......2003-06-04
If you are an Engineer looking to understand the history, technical aspects, implementation, standards and details of RFID systems, this book provides an excellent introduction for you.
The chapters are well laid out and paced. The author explains the most common devices and systems available in the market, their technology and concepts quite well. Most of the RFID related standards have been covered along with relevant examples. The author covers such things as the hardware design specifications for devices, software requirements, and some basic RF concepts that are required to understand Transponder and Receiver designs.
If you need specifics about recent products however, you might want to research for other sources of information because this book does not cover vendors and products in detail. For readers without technical background, the book introduces the concepts well; but some content might not be relevant because of the [technical] nature.

Passed..........2007-03-28
Used this to pass the ARRL General exam a month after getting my Technician license. After a friend of mine showed me a lot of the stuff I'd only read about in the Technician book...made the information in the General book much easier to understand.
After only a week & 1/2...passed the exam with only missing 5 questions. Not the score I wanted...but a pass is a pass.
Unlike the Gordon West books which just lists the questions & answers to allow you to pass the exam...these set of books do that...but also explain the reason why. The answers are nice...but I want to know the reason why. The ARRL books give you this information & much more.
Arrl General Class License Manual .......2007-03-24
Sets the standard for General class license study guides in amateur radio.
ArrlL Manual.......2007-02-21
I was well pleased to receive this book, I was notified that this book had been placed on back order, and was given a due date when the book so to be shipped. I received the book before the due date, thanks to all a job well done.

Stop your search for a great resource in ham radio testing.......2007-02-17
I am nearly through the manual, and find it challenging but doable. I do not have a background in electrical engineering or radio, but am preparing for the General License Exam. The text is informative, provides many good examples, diagrams, authentic forms, and uses follow up questions to check understanding. After going through the chapters, I feel more prepared to test for basic electricity, radio theory, practical circuits, and antennas. If you put in your time to study and use this book, you should feel secure in earning your Element 3 license. The price is reasonable and the publisher is the absolute best source for the book's content. I just purchased another book titled, Ham Radio for Dummies. This too is available on amazon.com. So, go ahead, click "Place my order" on the tab above. Hope to hear you on the air. KC2JCZ.
Works.......2007-02-16
After some basic studying to complement some EE classes I passed missing only 3 questions. Good study aid.

Helpful.......2007-07-04
I found this book to be very helpful. As a "new" Ham, I found it useful with terminolgy, equipment and just getting on the air to make that "first" contact. The author included several resources for online help. The book covers a variety of topics from atenna's to global connections. I would recommend this book to any "new" Ham.
Ham Radio for Dummies an Opinion from a Ham .......2007-04-01
I've been a ham for 30 years,I purchased "Ham radio for Dummies" mainly for my daughter to read as she has shown an interest in getting her license.
I have read the book and found it has many interesting topics on the many facets of the hobby. It is well written and a new or prospective ham would find it full of informative information. The format of the book is written in a light style that is not technically over powering. Explainations were written in a a complimentry style that it is a nice to have in the personal library as an addition to the technical library that many hams seem to aquire.
I am pleased with the purchase and my 11 year old acutually understands it.
Very good primer.......2006-11-10
I bought this book just to see if ham was something I'd be interested in as a hobby. After reading this, and the technician licensing book put out by the ARRL, I had no problem passing my first exam and getting my license. The author also gives many website links throughout the text that are helpful in finding more free information.
Overall though, I'd say this is a good starter book, if you just want to find out what amateur radio is all about.
A Must For Every Hamshack.......2006-01-30
A really great read!Ward has the knack of entertaining and
informing people at the same time!An art in itself!

Like all ARRL handbooks this one is great. I have many of these books and I love them all.
Book Description
Two award-winning major market producers present the definitive how-to guide for producing a radio show, explaining every duty a radio producer is expected to perform. With refreshing honesty and the humorous flair of professional radio comedy writers, the authors reveal how to get one's professional foot in the radio door, book celebrity guests, craft great interviews, come up with ideas, create great phone segments, write and pitch material, and cope with the pressure that accompanies producing a show in progress.
Customer Reviews:
Great even for general interest.......2007-05-07
I'm not really that familiar with radio production, but am more interested in the creative process in general, and I found this to be a worthwhile and engaging read. The writers are entertaining and personable, and make everything that they talk about exciting and interesting to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Step by Step Guide and explanations.......2006-11-20
I thought this book was very well done. Detaild information and is explained as if you have no idea about the process and job of a radio producer, which I didn't. This is a great explanation for anyone working in radio in any aspect.
Thank You For This Book.......2005-03-22
I worked with John Swanson at WTMX for almost 2 years, though not along side of him. I read this book and learned an large amount of what a producer does. It helped me out in a college radio show I do. Since it's a small station we don't have producers, so it's up for the DJ to do everything. This book made it easy to understand what I need to do for a successful show.
Not Just For Those Seeking To Get Into Radio.......2004-12-10
I have nothing to do with radio and I stumbled across this book to get a peek into the world of radio production. If you want to get into radio in any capacity, this book paints a great picture of how good shows are put together day in and day out.
If you don't want to get into radio or if you do but you just can't seem to escape those golden handcuffs at Fargenflam Inc., then this book is still a good read. As Rick and John bring you deeper and deeper into their radio producing world, they share many stories that add humor and depth to the subject matter.
It's a good read. I liked it but I am sticking to the much simpler world of TV.
