Great questions, but not enough space to answer them! :(.......2007-07-12
This book is set up such that every day of the year has its own question. This is great to keep moms on task and filling out the pages in a timely manner. Many of the pages are quite thought-provoking and encourage story-sharing. However, the space is MUCH too limited to adequately do so. For example, it is difficult to relate a childhood story in a space the size of an index card. And some of that space is taken up by the question! Couple that with someone who doesn't have TEENY TINY handwriting...and you have a problem. The questions are great, but there should be adequate room for an answer! For example, my mother quickly ran out of room on a question/card about elementary school but then there was an entire page for "what was your day and date of birth"?? That just makes no sense. Also, be warned that the font of the questions can be hard to read (as it is cursive and squished together). This is difficult for people with vision problems and for those whose primary language is not English. If you can get past that (and maybe supplement some of your own blank pages), this is a fantastic keepsake. It causes Mom to fondly look back on her life and remember events long past.
Overall review: It is a great way to share memories...but the logistics of this book need serious improvement.
great .......2007-01-05
I think this is a great way to know things about your mother you may have never asked her.
Daughter's Remembrance.......2006-08-02
My daughter, who is dying of cancer, had received a copy of this book from a friend. I had asked her some of the questions and could answer some of them for her. I ordered 2 additional copies for her other 2 children and in filling them out feel that they will provide her very young 3 sons with some idea of what her childhood and growing up years were like. Hopefully they will be a very treasured memento from a mother they will only be able to keep in their hearts.
Wonderful Memories.......2004-08-31
I recently gave this to my aunt who has cancer and is bedridden to give to her own daughter for her birthday ... needless to say she was overwhelmed with such a 'memorable' gift. It gave my aunt the opportunity to share some wonderful and special moments in her own life with her daughter and remember some great times. I have now bought 3 copies of this book for other family members including my own mother. My only complaint is that it is truly American driven with regards to holidays and rites of passage (ie. snipe hunts), but you can get around these things easily. I highly recommend this treasure for all.
Most precious thing ever.......2004-05-04
I actually bought this book MANY years ago. Took 3 years but my mom finally filled it out. This book is so precious to me. Once a year I take it out and read it. I just know if I ever have kids, they will love it as well. I searched online in hopes of finding ones similiar for other family members. I highly recommed this book to anyone. Ahltimerz runs big in my family, and I know there will be a day when I can no longer as my mom questions about her childhood. This book is great.

Great book!.......2007-09-01
I wanted to introduce my 10 year old to the bible and this was a great way. This isn't a regular word for word bible but events/stories hilighted from each chapter of the bible starting with Genesis. At bedtime he reads a page going by "day one" "day two" etc. I let him read aloud and than we answer one or two questions for what we just read. Its awesome. He looks forward to that every night and he's learning. Eventually, he'll be ready for the real bible it its entirety. Good way to introduce children without boring them.
do not buy.......2007-07-26
i bought this bible for my sunday school class, i started reading some of the stories and the way they were written scared me. this is the only bible i've ever thrown away.

Reviewed by Stephanie Rollins for Reader Views (5/07)
When I received "365 Read-Aloud Bedtime Bible Stories" to review, I was quite surprised. I had been reading from this book for years.
There area over 100 illustrations in this book, but they are not colored. Each Bible story is one page or less. Of course, there are 365 stories--one for each day. There is not enough color and too many words for preschoolers; however, it is perfect for grade-schoolers.
The Bible reference is at the top of each page. At the bottom of each page is a question about the story.
I have read a few children's Bible stories that were slanted toward a certain denomination's beliefs or practices. This book is nondenominational It is strictly Biblical. This is a great way for parents to incorporate religion at home. The words are simple enough for beginning readers to sound out. "365 Read-Aloud Bedtime Bible Stories" is a great book for your grade-schooler.
Started January 1st, still going each night............2007-04-02
My 9 year old daughter started reading this January 1st, she hasn't missed a night yet. She either reads each one page story to herself, her siblings, or to her mom or dad. Some even have a little picture to help put you into the action. This is a definite must have. This is a good book to read a couple of times before moving on to more details.
Awesome book.......2007-01-16
This book is great each story is one page and is in the order of the Bible so you can stop after one page or keep going until they fall asleep. Each page has a picture that is big enough you can see good detail. The story are written at a child's level and are written in such a way that they don't distort what the Bible says.

Great memory book.......2007-07-17
My mom first told me about this book - she picked it up at a rummage sale. I decided to buy one for each of our kids' grandparents and send them to them for Christmas. They were all thrilled with the book, and they're excited to fill it out. I can't wait until we get them back this Christmas. It's a great idea for passing along information from one generation to another. We live overseas, and our kids only see their grandparents every-other year, or sooner if they come over to see us. I never knew my grandparents, and I wish I had something like this, sharing their lives with me. I also bought a set for a friend who's son was killed in Iraq, leaving behind a 6-month old son. Since their link to their grandson was gone, they were very touched to have a way to leave their memories for their grandson.
Looking forward to filling in this book.......2007-04-23
Our first grandchild was born one year ago, so I purchased both the Grandma and Grandpa books so husband and I could sit down and fill these out together. He balked at first, but then I asked him if he wouldn't love to have one of these filled out by HIS grandparents, and he agreed this will be time well spent. Very sturdy little book with a wonderful range of questions that are sure to cause old memories to resurface. I hope my grandson and future grandchildren will enjoy reading about us!

It was a wonderful time to grow up in my hometown. Things were easy for the poor and rich, as we were equal in the talent contests and given a chance with or without a mother there pushing for her kid. Dean Martin was one of the best singers, but Eddie Fisher was my singer and I was president of "The Fisher Notes." I wrote a review of his latest memoir which is not NTA, meaning no one can read or vote one way or the other. I put a lot of effort in my reviews, so here it is:
Janet Dailey now lives in Branson, Missouri, the place Deana Martin also calls her new hometown.
A Dutiful Daughter's Memories, August 12, 2006
I got too close to the truth for comfort!
Dean Martin was successful in the Fifties.

Writing is magical. The empty page is where you start to put together the disparate parts of your life. Once you put it down on paper, you can figure out how all your plans can start to come together. This is a fairytale of a little girl who never growed up. She lived with her mother in a big house in a fancy neighborhood in Pasadena. Her father had a fanciful career in movies and on television; his downfall was not drinking, as we were led to believe, but Lainze Kazan on one of his musical review shows. She was a regular and he certainly perked up and his eyes would light up when he talked about how beautfiul she was. He was part of a duo which dissolved, and he was much better on screen without his partner. Part of the Rat Pack, a broup of irrational performers in Las Vegas, he lost himself and became a bum. If you believe that this book was written out of love or devotion, you are absolutely wrong. She used it merely to get on a radio network who panders to half-way talent and has-beens to make a career on the back of her famous father.
His son wrote 'That's Amore" another of his songs. His didn't sell well, as this one did not. It was given away on that same network where they have appointed a "host" which just shows how far it has fallen. She would not be deemed a singer with another name. He died in dire circumstances with no family support, and it is a shame this writer has to stoop to obtaining a career on the demise of a famous singer. Maybe he would sit up and appauld, but I think he would turn in his grave at the injustice of this travesty. Since my first review was lost, this is just a resume. Too bad you couldn't read what I said.
She has made a career off of her dad's fame and has just about taken over MYL. She is a fraud with very little talent, certainly is not a star like her dad she abandoned and never will be. If she were so great, why on earth is she stuck in Branson, Missouri, answer me that! She is making tons of money off her dead dad and he is not here to defend himself. It's a dirty shame.
The Fifties were good to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher and other male singers; females didn't do so well. But it was a grand time to grown up and go off to college. Life was worthwhile then, not as the poor verses the rich in today's world.
A wonderful gift to give.......2006-08-06
My grandson and his wife gave me this book last Christmas and i have had a ball writing in it. I have since purchased 7 copies to give to my children and friends and everyone says they are finding it very entertaining to be reminded of their childhood and growing up years.

i gave this to my grandmother when i was in college. she past away soon after i graduated, but this book is a wonderful keepsake. everytime i pull it out it brings back great memories. i only wish that i had gotten it for her sooner so that she could have finished it. the questions are about her past, things that i would have never known. love it and will cherish it forever!!

Best Gift I ever bought.......2006-10-26
I bought this book for my Dad about 5 years ago. He passed away on Oct. 10th and there is nothing more valuable that he could have left me. You think you know a lot about your parents, but let me tell you, there are many surprises - all of which made me smile. Really an amazing little book.
now that you are gone..........2006-07-17
I gave this book to my father for Christmas in 200. It was just a nice "coffee table book" that I would open to a certain date and read every now and then. After his death in 2004, it became so much more to me. I put the events in order of time, and began to write a book on the town he grew up in and it has led me to cemeteries of my ancestors from the early 1800's to early 1900's in St. Charles, Virginia. It is moe than jut a journal, but a piece of their life to treasure forever.
Precious Gift.......2006-04-15
I gave this book to my father for his birthday (in October) many years ago. Unbeknownst to me, he was busily filling it out and gave it back to me as a Christmas present two months later. I know the spaces are small in the book, but he used them wisely and I now have a valuable history I would not have had otherwise. I believe that if the spaces for writing were much larger, the task to complete it would seem overwhelming and wouldn't get done. (My mom agrees...she has the Mom version of the book). What I have from my father, who is no longer living, is a precious gift of memories I wouldn't trade for anything!
Grandpa, Tell Me Your Memories.......2004-01-28
I ordered this book thinking it would be great. Upon its arrival, I was extremely disappointed. As stated by other reviewers, the space allotted for responses is too small. Also, most of these questions do not apply to most grandfathers.
Luckily at the time, I bought Grandpa Remembers by Judith Levy. This book is more visually stimulating, engaging, and FUN. I want my dad and father-in-law to enjoy writing their memories, and not become frustrated by lack of space and boredom.
Since I am a positive person, I will state that I like the spiral aspect of the book. The book is a nice idea; it just needed a little more thought before being published.

While I like everything about this book, it was entirely too small. It is also not very sturdy. Had I known that, I would have purchased something else.
Priceless.......2004-07-17
I bought this for my grandparents years ago (this one and the grandma one). Grandpa has now passed away, and the memories and stories are invaluable to me now. My whole family of parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and even my children are now lucky enough to have all of their memories written down for us.
Genealogist's Delight.......2002-10-28
Anyone working on their family history will delight in this book. It presents questions to be answered by Grandpa for every day of the year. When the questions are all answered, the family historian will have a wealth of information for research and hundreds of anecdotes for the family tree. At the next family reunion encourage everyone to buy and complete the appropriate book in the series for themselves and let the historian add it to the tree..

31 YEARS LATER.......2007-08-02
I had my first child in February and shortly after my Mom gave me her all of her Mommy secrets... It was this book. I grew up eating all this stuff and doing all of these things and I loved every bit of it. Now that I have my own Baby it has been so wonderful to revisit the wonderful recipes from my childhood. Whats even better she left me all of her little notes of leave this out and add this here and there. I'm looking forward to using it as much as she did.
This is my standard "extra" gift for a new baby.......2007-05-14
Everyone loves this book! There are some fabulous and healthy treats for toddlers - and the velvet playdough is wonderful.
It is always well received and continues to provide our grown children with terrific memories of goodie balls and many more healthy treats.

Recipes are not quite right........2007-03-15
I have an older edition of this book that was given to me, so maybe it's not the same with the new edition, but the times for the recipes are so far off. Almost every recipe I have tried from this book (other than bread maker recipes or just the basic ideas for food) I have had to cook AT LEAST twice as long as it says.
My babies have all enjoyed the teething biscuits and everything we've made out of the book. As far as the recipes not being "healthy" enough, I think we all know that making food at home is healthier than processed prepackaged food and I didn't find the recipes to be truly unhealthy. In my edition of the book she warns off feeding uncooked honey to babies under 1 year and does suggest hot dogs sparingly. It's not for people who want to go completely "whole foods" but for your average household I think it's a pretty realistic approach to feeding your child. It would get 5 stars if the recipes were actually the proper cooking time.
Feed Me I'm Yours.......2007-01-09
I received this book more than 24 years ago when my daughter was born. I love it to this day! There are many practical ideas and recipes that any new mother would appreciate. I use many of the recipes to this day, i.e., hot chocolate mix, the baked apple with egg, cock-a-doodle-doo stew for toddlers. I give this book as a gift every chance I get. --Jane Berg, Arvada, Colorado

Boston in a Week.......2007-09-28
Excellent book. Allows you to see the highlights whether you have five days or twelve. Great routes and wonderful descriptions.
Great for New England travel.......2007-09-21
We loved this book! It has a number of driving tours that take you to highlights in each state. It has a couple of really nice features. The first, although we didn't stick to it very much, is the time suggested for the trip. They did suggest 2 days for the Southern Vermont tour. We did it in one day but only because we didn't stop in all the little towns suggested by the book. The book does not have much detail on each place so I would suggest a second "guide book" for more details and hotel/restaurant suggestions but the driving tours and directions were accurate and had good 'stop here' suggestions.
I highly recommend Best Loved Driving Tours.......2007-07-17
Our family used this guide on a recent vacation to New England, particularly at Lakes Squam and Winnipesaukee. The guide gave wonderful suggestions and directions. We stopped at some places that we would not otherwise had taken notice of and we were able to form a more complete 'picture' of the area. The maps and written description were accurate and we felt we could rely on the book. There are many more tours for us to take and we are looking forward to doing so!
Handy Guide.......2007-05-15
Very practical for people planning a trip to New England for the first time.
Thanks so much.......2003-09-01
I found this book, quite by accident, in my local bookstore. I was in the process of planning a trip through Connecticut late this summer. This book proved invaluable. Not only are the directions clear and precise, but the recommendations as to what to see along the drive are first-rate. I would recommend this book to anyone planning such a trip. It certainly helped make my trip through Connecticut very memorable.

This booklet isn't bad, but it is mostly example projects to go through. After being only magazine size and 64 pages, that leaves little room for tips, instruction of advice. Being generous, its the first 18 pages where there is any info that's useful.
I would recommend looking elsewhere, such as Machine Quilting Made Easy or Easy Machine Quilting.

It's not what I was expecting. No good for beginers.

Great Fun!!.......2005-12-01
Thank you Kathy Sandbach! I LOVE your book!!
I couldn't wait to read it all and just picked out patterns and had a go! Liberating, easy to follow and fun! With practise, I can do them all, not to this lady's standard yet, but I'm getting there and improvising with a little 'kiwi' ingenuity along the way...Until I picked up this book, I wasn't a quiltmaker at all, -just a quilt top maker...my how things have changed!

For those of us who aren't artists or doodelers, this gives us great ideas of what to put on all those tops we have made. If you can't picture a design to be put on top of your beautiful square......this helps. It is a great guide to get on with the next step and actually "quilt".

Need help with ideas? Need help drawing? This is the book for you. I can take these ideas/pictures and practice on paper before doing the "free motion" actual quilting. Helps reduce your stack of UFO's. Happy quilting!

Michigan.......2007-07-29
When I purchased the book. The description gave me the impression that it would be good for an older child say 6-8. Instead it was more for a three year old. I bought it because my sister moved to Michigan and I thought it would be good for kids to read about areas of interest, landmarks, and to learn something about the state they are now living in. I wanted it to be more educational, but it was not. Also, I received it in a damaged condition. So, I have since returned the book.
