Customer Reviews:
Not enough backstory!.......2004-03-09
I love the X-Files, and I wanted to read more of the "backstory" of each episode.
Instead, most of the book is wasted on the synopses for each episode. Usually, 6 pages is wasted on the story summary, and only one page on the backstory.
We don't need 6 pages of story summary for each episode: we can watch that! Instead, give us more on the background! .
An X-pectacular spin-off for X-fans........2002-05-13
As an x-fan, I did read this book from cover to cover and I found itselft, an amazing book for everyone that call himself and x-philo.
This book is very good in everything, execpt for some pictures that were in b/w.... But that doesnt matter when you find, such an x-pectacular piece of art.
Great for FX fans.......2002-04-17
If you're an x files fan, you will appreciate this book. What I enjoyed was that every episode sypnosis followed the sequence of the television show. What was also great was that it gave background information on every episode.
If you missed this season, Just read this BOOK!.......2000-05-22
It's almost as good as having a detailed script of every episode of this season! The detail that goes into the writing is beyond excellent! I didn't get involved with the X-files from day one, but I caught up by reading these excellent guides, and lots and lots of re-runs!
The unofficial guide to The X-Files Vol. 3.......2000-01-24
This is a very vivid guide to The X-Files in their earlier seasons. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and discovering all the interesting facts that this book had to give. I am a fan of The X-Files and I have watched the show for five years. I think this is a very good literary work. If you like The X-Files, I highly recommend this!

Like his other book, 'Stainless Ladies', this feature beautiful models being rude with a variety of sex toys, all shot in black and white.
Whilst maybe not being art, it's creative and quite erotic (if you like looking at models with sex toys in their nether regions that is).
I like it.

Customer Reviews:
A great X-Files book to accompany your X-Files Collection!.......2001-07-18
Trust No One is a complex book that provides insight to any reader about one of the best shows, if not THE best, on television, The X-Files. This book is adorned with many facts and pictures that reveal an enormous amount of behind-the-scenes information that is helpful to a serious fan. I have gathered from it many details that I have put into my own episode guide. I highly recommend this if you are a die-hard X-Phile. Enjoy!
The book was interesting to read but the pictures were dull........1998-04-18
The book was great to read and the third season of X-Files was exciting. However, the pictures were stupid and all should have been in color.Whoever had the idea of printing those pictures in a dark black and white should think again.Next time when they begin making the 5th season guide book they should print nice, clear, bright pictures along with the episode synopsises.
This was a pretty good book.......1997-12-14
Since i am blind, i had my sister read it to me. i thought it to be pretty intresting and my sister described the pictures to me and i thought they were cool. i can't wait for the next season book to come out.
Very Disappointing.......1997-02-05
I really enjoyed the first book, THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE, which covered the first two seasons of the X-Files. But this book only covers one season and the authors Lowry and Stegall want you to dish out another $15. Even the color photos have been seen a gillion times before in other magazines. Don't waste your money on such a blatant attempt by Rupert Murdoch's publishing company to milk this cow for all its worth. I usually enjoy Sarah Stegall's online reviews, but I can't believe she would be involved in such crass commercialism as this book. Shame on her, shame on the publisher, and shame on me for buying this crap
Sequel to X-Files Guide is better than any available!.......1997-01-14
Wow! This X-Files guide is just as good, and even better, than its preceding guide. The third season guide to The X-Files showcases as many facts and background information from the show and its stars as the first guide by Brian Lowry. You'll be amazed to read how the third season cliffhanger, Talitha Cumi, was written and produced as you are taken step-by-step through both post- and pre-production. This novel provides behind-the-scenes interviews with the stars--both off-screen and on--of this glorious cult drama. Once again Brian Lowry does a superb job of composing descriptive episode summaries, and now even adds a cool color-photo insert taken from the set of the seasons best episodes. A deffinate gotta-have-it for fans, The Official Third Season Guide to the X-Files proves both fascinating and entertaining time after time to read

Book Description
This biographical dossier on actor David Duchovny gathers together for the first time a comprehensive collection of profiles and interviews, complete with filmography, photographs, and hard-to-find facts, revealing the whole truth about the man they call "Fox." Hard evidence of Duchovny's fabled intelligence and covert sense of humor is uncovered in these intimate probes and personal profiles conducted by major magazines. Duchovny discusses everything from the influence of family, his philosophy of acting, and his favorite part of the female figure to his plans for the future. Covered are Duchovny's acting credits, which comprise more than a dozen films, from Working Girl to Kalifornia, while his small-screen roles include hosting The Red Shoe Diaries and playing a transvestite DEA agent on David Lynch's notorious Twin Peaks.

PRODUCEING REALISTIC AND VALUABLE MEDIA TODAY.......2004-06-09
There is alot of unsensable blah blah about it beinglucky to suck Foxy D.D's ears because he is harry, thats socially insensitive, unscientific, abuse.Scully should get bittersweat with Sandy Pandea let goss-ip go-round about that. I think it is wrong to commercialize the show. I do not believe the imprint will positive-ly impress youth. More hate crime gangs will trickle outof youth centres. Court proceedings will be monopolizedmore(PETRI/MELVILLE)There will be more rape and vandolismWomen like Anderson will be more motivated to plot elab-orate copycat crimes and phantasmic oratorio. People wantto know more about ELROY and EQUS or TROY. And want toknow less about Mulder. The unauthorized biography is often missing from a librairy (As Parkland)where a witchybedde exists. Youth will not reap wisdom but will sacri-fice the polluted offerings.Mayhem will be sown at themilitairy colledges where the video is seen. It will becriticized in many tongues by plebs desireouse to havetheir deceptions amortized, then the pages will be soiledthat is how all of Anderson's journalesse is destin toend. Her tapes do not even make it through the machineany more. I'm afraid to order there is a K.G.B plot tostop this information from enfluenceing the public. Themob KK & CSIS/INSUREGUARD do not want this Govt. to beorganized, The RCMP/Downtown biz assoc. won't affirm though always go for more baited chuck down arguements &jap floor-tradeing.
Duchovny: Yes. This book: NO........2000-12-27
I love David Duchovny, don't get me wrong. However, I could barely make it through his biography. It's written in a very disjointed fashion, and everything mentioned is so out-of-order. It's also VERY outdated; so it's not even really worth getting now. The picture section, I will admit, is awesome; some of the best photos of David yet. The X-Files episode guide is extremely outdated; it only goes to season 3. 5 years ago, this book would have been a joy for me to read. But being madly in love with David Duchovny, I already know most of what was in there. If you want anything recent on David, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. The mediocre writing quality and ancient episode guide really isn't worth it.
This is a great book for all fans of the show, "The X-Files".......1999-09-13
In the book, The Duchovny Files, you will learn about David Duchovny and how he became one of T.V.'s greatest actors. This book is packed full of information having to do with both David, his work, and The X-Files. In reviewing books about the show, I have found this to be one of the best books ever written. It is a great book for both fans and non-fans of the show to read! If you are a beginner of the show, I suggest reading this book, and The Anderson Files. Both books will caputre the minds of the readers. If you are a fan of the show, then you will be facinated with all the information this book gives out. It is packed full of Mulderisms and Scullyisms, a special section with facts from the show, and Lots of Color Photos! Remember that, "The Truth Is Out There," and keep on believing in the truth!
ooooooooooooooh.......1999-08-10
Now David Duchoveny, he is a truly engrossing person, both in looks and in talent. And the x-files, that is a truly engrossing show, the only television program that is, I do believe. Duchoveny portrays Mulder excellently and this book is nice and informative about both Mulder and Duchoveny.
The Duchovny-ite's Bible!.......1999-08-06
This is by far the best book I have ever read about David Duchovny, and Shakespeare aside, my favorite book EVER! I truly view it in the biblical sense. It is indispensible! I carry it with me practically everywhere, and am constantly flipping through my dog-eared pages for quick reference into something. There is a funny internet section, instructions for the X-Files drinking game, a complete David Duchovny filmography, several candid interviews, an exceptionally well-written biography, color photos, a fabulous episode synopsis, lots of gossip about David's personal life (written in a polite, non-voyeuristic fashion), Mulderisms/Scullyisms, etc. I could go on and on! David Duchovny is so interesting and poetic, and Paul mitchell does an excellent job with this book. A difinative masterpiece!

Customer Reviews:
Great But Flawed.......2007-08-23
I loved this book, the author was really insightful with the episodes he chose to review, the non-episode articles are also intelligantly written, often humerous and enjoyable. Where I think the book fails is that it doesn't cover the whole of seaon 8/9, only selected episodes, the episode in which Mulder appears. This is because the book has a shipper heart through and through and is intent on covering the Mulder and Scully relationship. Fair enough but I would have loved to see what the author thought of more non-shipper episodes. It isn't very comprehensive in that regard but still a good read.
Misleading Title - Very disappointed.......2005-08-20
Well. I would have to agree with the two last reviewers there. Bad book for seasons 8 and 9. And it had such potential. But the author was too busy explaining why there never should have been a season 8 or 9. How sad. Someone should have helped him with his hype and title about this book being one that would take an honest look at ALL of the last four seasons, without all of the biased b.s. towards seasons 8 and 9. Believe it or not, there are a lot of fans out there that LOVED seasons 8 and 9, and enjoyed seeing Scully come into her own those last two years without Mulder. Very nice change of pace. And I would agree that the author showed much adolescent, childish behaviour in the way that he slurred Reyes' character all the time with his childish remarks. I would have expected a little more professionalism out of a "professional" writer. Again - sad. So, I would recommend maybe checking it out of the library or something, but for those that want a true account of the last four seasons (and seasons 8 , 9 Doggett and Reyes) please don't waste your money on this load of .... Yeah...
Very Disappointing - Much too biased in his commentary.......2004-12-14
I was so looking forward to this book, and the insight into seasons 8 and 9, especially since there are no other books out there that cover these two specific seasons. Instead, I got a load of crap. The author should have forewarned his readers of his blatant bias and overtly narrow-minded opinions on the Mulder/Scully Dynamic (which is still quite debatable among the most hardcore of fans - were they, or weren't they?) and his horrendous interpretations of John Doggett and Monica Reyes. I thought I was reading the work of a small homophobic child with his insistence on referring to the Monica Reyes character as a lesbian. Absurd. Simply absurd. She was never considered a lesbian. I guess he forgot about her former relationship with AD Brad Follmer. She was not on the make for Scully. She was Scully's friend, as was Doggett. The book was supposed to be about season 6 through season 9. He gives us much insight with seasons 6 and 7, then explains for the last half of the book why there should have never been a season 8 or 9. Why make the claim that it was an objective, informative view of all four seasons? Instead, the reader is given one fan's own biased opinion of only two of them. Not worth the time, money or effort for someone that is legitimately interested in an objective, well-informed discussion on the last four seasons of the show, and especially the last two.
Interesting Analysis of the Last Four Seasons.......2004-06-20
I found Unbound 1's book to be a detailed look at key episodes from the last four seasons of the show, and one that is written with a definite fan bias and not much objectivity. But as a fan, that's the only way it could be written.
Unbound 1 analyzes the episodes with an emphasis on the Scully/Mulder relationship, which was a key aspect of the show to fans like myself, so I did appreciate his comments in that area. I also appreciated his dissatisfaction with plot and character in the last two seasons.
In some cases I think Unbound 1 went too far, as in his constant references to the Monica Reyes character as a "lesbian," which the character was not. It's not so much that Unbound 1 labels her as one, but that he uses the term as a slur because he doesn't like her character. I found that to be a bit adolescent for someone who is a professional writer.
Overall, I enjoyed EXaminations, since there is not much in print about the last few seasons, and I do agree with many of the points Unbound 1 made in his book. This is a book that truly demonstrates how fans analyze and connect emotionally to their TV shows. And believe me, there are many of us out there.
EXCELLENT/INSIGHTFUL book for Mulder/Scully fans only.......2004-06-13
I came into the "X-Files phenomenon" after everyone else it seems, and looking to find out more about the series, especially the later years (Seasons 6-9), I highly anticipated reading this book, as it was hyped as "covering the last four years of the X-Files." This description, I feel, is a bit misleading, but I still consider buying this book a great choice and money well spent. (My only regret is not purchasing one the author had signed--didn't know those books were available!) For the most part, I am thoroughly satisfied with this book. It answered many questions concerning the decisions made during the last two years of the show, and why the divisions in the fan base have occurred (which, I must admit, I didn't understand at the time). However, the author's reviews of the episodes during Seasons 8 and 9 were only on the episodes that David Duchovny appeared in. Considering the incredible insight he showed in his writing of his reviews of those episodes, I would have like to have read his thoughts and opinions on all the episodes, including those about the new characters of Doggett and Reyes. (They, for the most part, are ignored in this book). I felt after reading this book that while I definitely knew more than I did before I read it, there were still unanswered questions. (I guess I fall into that very small minority of fans who liked all nine seasons, feeling that even "bad" X-Files episodes were 100% better than everything else being offered on TV at the time). So, if you are looking for a wonderfully written, thoroughly entertaining review of the Mulder/Scully dynamic during the last four years of the X-Files, buy this book. You won't be disappointed. But be prepared to acknowledge that the author is definitely an "old-school" X-Files fan. If you are looking for information in any other direction, you need to keep looking. But this book is by far the best of the "behind the scenes" books out there, and any additional books by this author would be greatly appreciated by this reader.

Not Worth It.......1998-12-04
I really don't like it, as someone has pointed out, it's pretty much just a big map with the location of where the X-Files has once taken place. It's kind of pointless, and I felt that I wasted a lot of money on it. I thought it would be better, but I was disappointed.

The Map is cool if you want to know where all of the episodes actually take place. There is a line summary of each episode under each city listing. Color pictures and great info definately caught my eye. High prices but a good deal for a REAL X-Files fan!

Book Description
The X-Files was a pop culture phenomenon. When it first hit the airwaves, The X-Files was heralded for being radically different than anything else on television. The rainy, foggy "Wet Coast," which was home to the show, affected the look of the seriesdark, haunting, mysteriousand its storylinesparanoid, conspiratorial, fantastic.
Written by the former location managers for The X-Files, X Marks the Spot documents the development of the popular television series into a critical and commercial success by peering behind-the-scenes to see just what made it so different.
Gradnitzer and Pittson reveal the role that sets and locations played in creating and maintaining the X-Files "look," and provide a glimpse into the problems and conventions that the production faced during its growth.
Also in the book are plot synopses from the series' first 5 years, explicit descriptions of locations where scenes were shot, and anecdotes from crew members about life on set and with the starsstories about producing groundbreaking television.
A collector's item for fans of the show and an informing read for anyone interested in the production of a major television program, X Marks the Spot also includes numerous images from the television show itself, as well as never-before-seen backstage photos by former crew members.
It's an essential insider's guide.

Here's What Happened. . . ........2002-08-15
Welp, unfortunately I can't tell you the whole behind the scenes look at what it took to get The "X-Files Phenomenom" going (It will take Forever and a Day, plus I wouldn't want to spoil the joy of you reading it), but I can say this is worth the money. Find out what it took to get the show on the road, how it was for everyone when they first got together, to the time they had to leave Their Vancouver Home where it All Started.
Written by Tom Braidwood (Fohike of the Lone Gunmen) so you know there is more than what an ordinary journalist can get a hold of. I guess you can call this Book "The little Diary of Tom Braidwood, and Friends."
Learn Everything you need to know about how They found the perfect location for each episode from Seasons 1-5, and find out how the weather was at the time of filming. . . hmmmm. It also has many Black and white pictures for your enjoyment, some funny, and others that illustrates how each set looked at the time of filming. It's definitely a keeper.
The Vancouver Days of the X-Files.......2002-05-21
After watching Sunday's finale episode, I pulled out my "X Marks the Spot" book to reminisce about the "good ol'days" when the X-Files was filmed in Vancouver - which was seasons 1-5. This book, written by Louisa Gradnitzer and Todd Pittson (who were location managers on the X-Files for 5 years) and an introduction by Tom Braidwood (also known as Frohike of the Lone Gunmen), shows the viewer the places that the X-Files filmed in Vancouver, a map to show where they are located and behind the scene facts about the episodes.
What is great about this book, it is split into seasons and episodes so that you can find your favorite episode, what locations were used for it and trivia about the filming of it.
This book also contains black and white behind the scenes photos featuring the cast, crew, buildings, props, cast parties and the final shots from Vancouver, which closes the book.
This book is a must if you're an X-Phile planning on visiting Vancouver.
Excellent Inside Info For Fans.......2000-01-09
This book was an excellent read for myself, an X-Files fan and a resident of Vancouver. It expresses the love and dedication that all the X-Files crew members had for the show.
Anyone who likes the X-Files will get a kick out of reading the various stories behind acquiring all the locations for the show. A synopsis of *every* episode shot in BC is given, making this a useful episode guide as well.
After reading the book, I can say I am truly lucky to live in a city that stood for so many diverse places during the X-Files run.
A unique and interesting approach.......1999-12-30
This entertaining and educational book shows us the development of a great TV series from a unique perspective rarely seen before: the Locations department. The first 5 seasons of The X-Files are brought to life behind the scenes with the people on the front line. The book is filled with lots of great and funny stories about the adventures of the Locations folks and their desire to turn Vancouver and environs into numerous settings across the U.S. and around the world while simultaneously enabling the producers and directors to make top-notch television. Highly recommended.
Great behind the scenes look.......1999-12-01
Great look at what goes on behind the making of the X-Files. From set and actor problems to the interesting adventures with Vancouver locals. X-Philers and fans of the show will love this inside look.

In The X-Files episode "The Erlenmeyer Flask," FBI agent Dana Scully shows some bacteria to microbiologist Anne Carpenter, who pronounces them extraterrestrial: containing different DNA nucleotides than those found in Earthly organisms. But like the hapless redshirts of Star Trek, scientists who uncover extraterrestrial evidence have shortened life expectancies. Indeed, Carpenter is soon snuffed out in a highly suspicious car crash. But the real scientist on whom she was based, University of Massachusetts virologist Anne Simon, remained as scientific advisor to the popular program: she is the "X-Pert."
In her book, Simon describes the scientific basis of various X-Files episodes, and writes about some of her behind-the-scenes work putting the Scully into Scully. Sometimes it gets a little difficult to keep track of when Simon is describing an episode and when she's talking about cutting-edge science, but that's part of her point: "The life of a research scientist is filled with mysteries as complex as any that appear on The X-Files. We are Scullys." Simon knows that this show, for all its paranormal apparatus, gives a taste of the thrill of real science, enough to be inspiring a new generation to follow in Scully's footsteps. --Mary Ellen Curtin
Book Description
Could an alien organism really survive a centuries-long trip on a meteor and remain virulent enough to attack a human being? How would a scientist know she was peering at a microbe from another planet? What's the possibility of a genetically mutated monster actually developing?
In a gripping exploration of the facts behind the science fiction that has enthralled millions of X-philes, Anne Simon -- the respected virologist who comes up with the science for many intriguing episodes -- discusses telomeres, cloning, the Hayflick limit, nanotechnology, endosymbionts, lentiviruses, and other strange phenomena that have challenged the intellect and threatened the lives and sanity of America's favorite FBI agents. With Simon's extraordinary gift for explaining complicated, cutting-edge science in a light, accessible style, and her behind-the-scenes commentary on the development of various plot lines, The Real Science Behind the X-Files will appeal to science buffs and X-Files aficionados alike.
Customer Reviews:
A witty and intelligent guide.......2006-09-22
Simon writes wittily and intelligently about a number of subjects, all of which have been dramatized on the hugely popular television show "The X-Files." There have been other books about the show, episode guides and the like, but for my money this book is best.
Dummies Guide to Science.......2006-03-30
I bought this as a bargain book but it is worth the full price! The author writes in a knowledgeable yet humourous style which makes absorption of the subject matter easy for non-scientists, and less than 40 pages into an information packed book I have learned such a lot already. I rated it 4 star because I would have liked to see a glossary at the back and colour photographs would have made a very interesting book moreso. For example, what do the sea slugs that prefer to try to eat each other before taking the alternative option of having sex look like? Other reviews here tell you that the book is based on science fact and fiction touched upon in the X-Files so I don't need to go there. Read it, learn, and laugh. There is nothing funnier than real life.
Simply Wonderful !.......2005-04-24
I love the X files and I'm a mixture of Mulder and Scully with regard to their beliefs. But after reading this book, I think I have become a scully! This book is so lucid and simple in its explanation of certain "paranormal" phenomenon. The author does a wondeful job combining biology and humour to explain to the lay person that not all things are paranormal and that if you do a little scientific research most of the things out there will make sense. All my knowledge on DNA, chromosomes, cancer comes from this book !Though she herself admits that not everything you see on the X files can be explained by science, most of the things that happen on a macro scale in the X files happen on a micro scale in real life. Genetic mutation is a reality, a virus surviving an cosmic travel is plausible, and so on. Finally, for those of you who are deceived by books written by the layperson/idiots/quacks, read this book and you will become fascinated as to what science has to offer.
For the Scientist and Non-Scientist.......2000-09-24
I came upon this book at the house of a friend and couldn't put it down.
It is a wonderful read and, to a non-scientist, an entertaining and clear look at some of the scientific mysteries of the universe.
This is a perfect book for a graduation present and for anyone with an interest in brain-sucking worms, aliens and mutating organisms. I recommend it highly.
Way More Entertaining than a normal biology textbook..........2000-09-19
Sexual tension aside, the coolest thing about this show seems to be the questions it poses about nature and science as we know it. And being a molecular biology student, I always get a kick out of shooting down the supposed theories that the show's characters spout out. It's hard sometimes to figure out if Chris Carter and the powers that be are really serious about certain phenomenons/ideas. This book clears it up nicely. Dr. Simon is completely knowledgeable about these topics and presents the information with much more gusto than your typical molecular biology textbook. I'd rather be tested on her book come final exams, but such is life! :)

The X-Files Book of the Unexplained is the perfect synthesis of popular media, folklore, theory, and fact. Author Jane Goldman appraises the merits of episodes such as "Ghost in the Machine," in which special agents Mulder and Scully investigate a murderous computer system. However, Goldman's exploration of the inspirations for these episodes is what sets The X-Files Book of the Unexplained apart from a mere episode guide. For "Ghost in the Machine," Goldman interviews experts in the field of artificial intelligence such as MIT's Mark Torrence. She also recounts reports of Japanese workers killed by assembly-line robots that run amuck and the bizarre case of chess champion Nikolai Gudkov, who was electrocuted by the computer opponent he had just checkmated. The photographs and quotes from the television show, interspersed throughout, are a bonus for X-philes and accentuate the book's truth-is-stranger-than-fiction theme. If you enjoy this book, be sure to pick up volume two as well. --Brian Patterson

Customer Reviews:
So much better than volume one........2003-04-10
I have both volume one and now volume two- thanks to used book sellers. This book contains "explainations" for some of the best in my opinion episodes. "HUMBUG", "FIREWALKER", "3" - that was the episode that had one of david duchovny's at the time's girlfriend playing a vampire, "War of the coprophages"- heh heh Dr. Bambi, "hell money", "clyde bruckman's Final repose"- the psychic epiisode-one of my all time favorites. Msybe the book was great because it had great episodes in it... or maybe it was great because it seemed to be written better than the first book. The chapters are clearly laid out into catagories: Life outside the mortal form, human enigmas, weird world, ancient beliefs, 20th century threats and paranoias, a cosmic conundrum, investigating the unexplained. It's a well written book- as i've said before. the research goldman did for this book is excellent. it is similar to the first book with quotes from the various episodes... but in my opinion is more interesting than the first one. Maybe it's because goldman had choosen some great episodes to write about. Definately get this book for your x-files collection. I'm glad that i did.
exciting, entertaining, and informative.......2001-08-01
Most people think that everything in the X-files is completely fictional, this simply isn't true. There are real life roots for the stories weaved by X-files writers, and this book chronicles all kinds of useful, entertaining, and interesting examples of these facts. Are aliens manipulating our government? is mind control possible? what lies at the bottom of loch ness? Only this book will give you the facts you need to make a conclusion. I use it as a great rescource material.
Great book on the Paranormal!.......2001-02-10
Anyone interested in the Paranormal will enjoy this book. X-File Fans will especially enjoy this book. See where some of the ideas from the show really came from. Very easy to read and understand with colorful illustrations. A must have!
How to spend a day or two.......2000-10-29
A great book. You can see there's been some thorough research conducted for this book. It was an absolute pleasure reading this book. Being the avid science and X-files fan I am, it was interesting to see XF to be presented in the light of "real" science. Really a must read for any XF or science fan.
One of the best books ever.......1999-10-04
I have only read volume two, but I have to say it was one of the best books EVER! I am 13 years old and I read this book for school. When I did my presentation on it, i thought everybody would be bored, but at the end, my friends were begging me to read more. It had so much fascinating information in it. I highly reccomend that everyone on earth should read this book!

Ultimate gift to the x-files fan.......2006-01-07
I love the X-files; it is one of my favorite all-time TV shows. As such, I was quite pleased to receive this book as a birthday gift from a friend of mine. Covering the first 4 episodes of the X-files, it devotes one section to each episode, explaining the plot, the setting, the characters, the morals (if any), the place of this episode within the overall story-arc of the series, any important facts revealed by this episode, and of course, any miscues, sidesteps, goofs, and other foul-ups in the show itself. And like any good book for fans, each section provides a little trivia on that episode, along with some background info on the actors involved. Overalll, a great book for any X-files fan, or for someone who has to live with an X-files fan...
more annoying than fun..........2005-05-01
This book definitely has its good points. The extra features (trivia, quotes, tote boards, etc.) are very enjoyable and should suit any X-phile's tastes. The overall purpose of the book, however, is really quite bothersome. I frankly don't want to know every single place where the creators or actors screwed up. I think it's kind of fun to see an oddity while watching the show and poke a little fun, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. The author also seems to a bit wacky and, as others have said, puts too much of his own opinion into the book. If you're a perfectionist or you're willing to buy the book just for the extras, go ahead and get it. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
Thoroughly Entertaining.......2004-11-29
as a bonafide x-phile, and fellow nitpicker, i couldnt resist grabbing this one. it's was an entertaining read. the author did add some comments, that he probably could have dont without adding, but i could see past that. this was a fun read. i only wish he'd put one out for seasons 5-9.
Too much opinion?.......2004-06-04
This book is a really cool thing to have around when watching an episode because you can follow along as you go. One thing I don't like is that he so easily dismisses the fourh season episode Home as bad. That was a very controversial episode but he shouldn't let his opinion could his writing. Throughout the entire part for Home his opinion got in the way and he kept saying things like "it doesn't really matter" or "I don't really care" because it was Home. Other than that it is a good book that has quizzes and cool things like that. There are tote boards with cool facts about the series. I hope there is a guide for the rest of the seasons in the future.
A Must Have For Any X-Files Fan ............2002-12-02
This was one of the first X-Files related books I got and I LOVED it. A great read and fun to have around while watching the eps.
