Book Description
Part memoir, part mystery, FIND ME is a compelling tale that will break readers' hearts even as it heals them. Told in Rosie's candid, moving voice, it is the true story of a friendship between a troubled young woman and a celebrity ob-sessed with helping her. As this bizarre relationship unfolds-and unravels-so, too, does Rosie's history, forcing powerful acts of remembering and reckoning. Through it all, we come to know the author on a deeply personal-and sometimes shocking-level as Rosie reveals not only the way the past transforms the present, but how a single stranger can spark irrational longings, profound obsession and, finally, the opportunity to put these forces to work in a healing way.

Strange and Disturbing.......2007-09-06
I like Rosie O'Donnell so I should be inclined to be a little biased, I guess that is what makes it a two star rather than a one.
The parts of the book about her childhood and whatnot are fine, but the story about Stacie is just creepy. I felt very uncomfortable that Rosie could have gone through all of this and actually be sane herself. I usually ignore all the bad things about her but after reading this and seeing what she responded to, I'm sorry to say but, she has deeper issues than those that she publicly admits to.
The book mixes random parts of her life in with the story of Stacie. Maybe I missed the "big picture" about the Stacie story. I found it utterly disturbing and was not left with a pleasant feeling until the very last page of the book. Parker says something that seems to "wake up" Rosie which very might well have saved her sanity because she was inappropriately and irresponsibly wrapped up in something that she should not have been in. She had kids and a partner to confide in and instead confided in a sick person.
Otherwise, this is a very short and quick read. I read it in less than 3 hours one night and the text is very very large so don't be fooled by the page count.
She once was lost, but now she's found.......2007-09-03
"Find Me" is the rocky journey of movie star, talk show host, comedienne, mother, activist and my personal shero; Rosie O'Donnell. This is not the typical celebrity autobiography. Because, I'm sure by now you've figured out that Rosie isn't the typical celebrity. Instead, "Find Me" is a poignant tale of self-acceptance and is a story of both tragedy and triumph.
Rosie discusses intimately how she felt after her mother's devastating death. And how this effected her entire life. After she hit it big you would think that everything ended up happily ever after? Not so. In Rosie's world all that glitters isn't gold. Even after she becomes a big star she still has her crosses to carry.
Along the way, Rosie adopts her first child; a son. She also meets a very troubled woman that parallels Rosie's own life. Rosie ponders why she turned out rich and famous while her friend is battling a serious mental disorder.
"Find Me" like its author is truthful, unconventional, compassionate and incredibly riveting. Rosie is able to bring the reader in to her world, if only for a few moments because she is so fascinating and descriptive in her writings.
I was surprised that this book did not discuss Rosie's sexuality. (There was some vague hints but that was about it.) Because, I remember when the book was released Rosie also "came out" at the same time to her fans and TV audience. But I learned that "Find Me" is not about whom she goes to bed with or chooses to love. Instead, it is a triumphant story that describes how and why she became the sheroic woman of today. "Find Me" taught me a lot more, too. It taught me the importance of love and acceptance of others. And, it also taught me the importance of being and having a good parent because Rosie's childhood was ripped apart with the loss of her mother.
I am ashamed to admit, I used to despise Rosie O'Donnell. I listened to all the garbage cable news programs that were only too eager to drag her name through the mud for their own gain. But after I read Rosie's book and started hearing what she had to say (on her blog and when she was on The View) I learned that the real Ro, as she likes to be called, has zero resemblance to the nut the media tries to portray as her.
I can't wait for Ro's next book, Celebrity Detox: (the fame game). It comes out next month!
Even though I never met Rosie I now have such a familiar fondness and affinity to this warm individual that somehow manages to draw people to her, from all circles and all walks of life. She once was lost, but now she's found.
Ro ROCKS!.......2007-07-13
Rosie O'Donnell is an amazing person and this book was very well written. Hard to put down and big on the WOW factor! Don't miss this read!
Fantastic.......2007-06-11
Well done Ro. Just saw book listed on your blog and got it. LOVE IT. So self disclosing, so open and vulnerable. Wonderful. Riveting and kept my interest. Well thought out writing style too. FANTASTIC! Makes me think EH needs to get honest with herself and find HER SELF! Rosie's complexities brilliantly delivered here. EH, over simplistic, fundamentalist and fundamental views. We love you RO.
Find Me.......2007-01-15
The book was terriffic. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the delivery time was great too.

Everything Rosie: The Ultimate Guide for Rosie O'Donnell Fans.......2007-05-29
I firmly believe that Rosie O'Donnell is a great human being, with a big heart, sensitive to other people's feelings and problems, always ready to help. I wish there were more people like her. I can truly say I am a very devoted and great fan of Rosie. Thank you Rosie for being who you are. Never change!!!!!!
Everything is Coming up Roses.......2003-01-23
I like Rosie. Her humour, her compassion, her philathropic values. She is a great woman - or so she presents herself to be - inside and out. This book 'Everything Rosie' is a biography and anecdotal book about the life of the actress/comedian Rosie O'Donnell. From the death of her mother at the mere age of 10, her talk show and to when she first became a mother to Parker.
This a great book for fans to learn a little bit more about Rosie and where she comes from. You understand her a little bit better at the end of the book and admire her that much more.
The book is written in different formats, using song exceprts, AOL snippets and show by show guest lists.
Recommended for the fan by a fan . . . not for someone who does not enjoy Rosie O'Donnell
All you need to know about Rosie.......2002-02-04
Before I read this book I didn't know much about Rosie O'Donnell. But after reading this I got to know who the person behind the famous Rosie O'Donnell show is. You get to know her thoughts and feelings, and you feel close to her after this book. You understand her in a way I didn't before. There are included some nice pictures, but in my opinion there are not enough. Also there are online chats with Rosie, that gives you a clue to how her humour works. I loved the book. But I think you need to be an inquisitive fan of her to do that. You want some questions answered. If that's who you are, buy it. If you only want pictures of her, then this is not the right book. And if you already know all you need to know about her, then this is not the book for you. This is kind of a beginner's guide to Rosie.
Rosie still has fans?.......2001-10-19
People still enjoy this woman and books written about her? She is a disgusting fat pig with very little talent. This book exemplifies her "wonderful" qualities. Did I mention she's a hypocrite?
GREAT BOOK FOR HER FANS!!!.......2000-07-10
I am a big Rosie fan and I tune in every day!! But there were things I did not know about my favorite tv star! I came on the internet and looked at all the books available. I read every review and this one seemed most liked. I bought the book and enjoyed every moment of it!!
Book Description
Sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and always brutally honest, this is Rosie O'Donnell's surprising account of the pain, regret, and euphoria involved in withdrawing from celebrity life--and the terrifying dangers of relapsing into the spotlight.CELEBRITY DETOX is Rosie's story of the years after she walked away from her top-rated TV show in 2002, and her reasons for going back on the air in 2006. In it, she takes you inside the world of talk show TV, speaking candidly about the conflicts and challenges she faced as cohost on ABC's The View. Along the way Rosie shows us how fame becomes addiction and explores whether or not it's possible for an addict to safely, and sanely, return to the spotlight. Chronicling the ups and downs of "the fame game," Rosie O'Donnell illuminates not only what it's like to be a celebrity, but also what it's like to be a mother, a daughter, a leader, a friend, a sister, a wife...in short, a human being.

James Robert Parish delivers the first ever biography of Rosie O'Donnell in the matter of fact tone of a seasoned entertainment journalist. Rosie O'Donnell's Biography is a comprehensive story of this dynamic woman's life on both the public and private fronts. Parish digs deep to provide background on Rosie's tragic early years when, as a young child, she lost her mother to the triumphant adoption of her son in 1995. He follows her career too as it developed from the comedy clubs and into television appearances that paved the way to Rosie's success in films and her own wildly successful TV talk show. Throughout the book, Parish skillfully reveals the humanity of this complex star. He dedicates the biography to its subject, "New Queen of All Things." And after reading the book, it is clear the term is nearly apt, for O'Donnell clearly is queen of many things: acting, comedy, parenting, friendship and honesty.
Customer Reviews:
Nothing I didn't already know.......1998-07-09
If you watch her show then this book is waste of time and money. Mostly the book focuses on Rosie's experience of losing her mother, her rocky road to stardom and her hush hush love life. Just by tuning into her show, and seeing/reading a few of her interviews, anybody could write this biography of Rosie with great ease. If you are looking for the juicy tabloid stuff, this book isn't for you. If you enjoy endless jiberish about Tom Cruise, I believe there are a few chapters devoted to this tired old topic. Happy reading
An excellent look at Rosie's past.......1997-05-02
Those wanting to know a lot about Rosie O'Donnell's earlier work, especially her movies, will enjoy reading this look at her life. Parish has done a fairly complete look at her past, although it is lacking on some of the more recent work like her show, and her online activites.
The writing is excellent, and was an easy read, but the author seems to use exclamation marks a few too many times for my taste...
The book also lacks colour photographs of Rosie, but has an excellent picture of Rosie (from 1994 Academy Awards) on the cover.
Fans of Rosie (like myself) who want to gain a better understanding of the context around which the "Queen of Nice" has become the multi-media phenomenon that she is should definitely pick up a copy of this book. I loved it!
"Her fans will buy and enjoy this book" - Publishers' Weekly.......1997-03-19
In this unauthorized bio, seasoned Hollywood journalist and author James Robert Parish (The Liza Minelli Story etc.) has reserched O'Donnell's climb to fame drawing on print and TV interviews, critical reviews and press releases, as well as interviews with her colleagues. O'Donnell's comic career, feature films and Broadway show are well detailed here and her story is an inspiring one.
Until O'Donnell writes her autobiography this bio may be the most thorough we'll get.
Publishers' Weekly March 17, 199

Life and Humor of Rosie Rules.......2000-03-30
I love Rosie O'donnel, this book made me love her even more. She is such a remarkable women that has overcome so much at such a young age. I have read her people profile and Rosie's true story. This book blows both of them out of the water. A remarkable look into Rosie's triumphs and tragedys. From the death of her mother and the shakie relationship with her father to the adoption of her babies and her raising tons of money to support children's charities. What a wonderful book and wonderful women.

Don't Read a Book by its Cover.......1999-03-12
Before I even began to read this book I was excited about the cool cover. I started reading and found necessary information, but in a dull format. The author rambled on for too long about little details. An okay book for a person just needing information on Rosie, but if you are a true fan, seek another source.

I think Fox News may have commissioned this book!.......2007-09-22
If you want to save yourself a few bucks, or more importantly, the few minutes of your life it'll take to realize this is pure, fictional trash, just go flick on Fox News. You'll get the same vomit inducing effect, without all the effort of having to read.
Poorly written books can often still be entertaining, but not in this case. Opinion is stated as fact, assumptions are made that no rationally thinking person could ever come to, and aspersions are cast out of what appears to be nothing more than a visceral hatred of Ms. O'Donnell.
The author of this book, for whatever reason, is intent on trashing O'Donnell, logic and fact are just collateral damage.
PURE TRASH, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Ro is nothing like the image this book or the mainstream media portray her as.......2007-07-03
This book is very poorly written and does not describe Ro's life in any circumstantiated way. It's just a just a bunch of ranting and raving without any worthwhile info thrown in. This is not a book of facts, this is a book of opportunistic lies.
I think the Enquirer is slipping. Is this the best they can do? A much better book might be about the pseudo-relevance of the National Enquirer; how they were once a media empire of the 70's and 80's, but turned into a total joke by the 90's and double-00's.
I must confess, I used to despise Rosie O'Donnell. I ate up books like this and watched the cable news programs that were only too glad to drag her through the mud.
But I learned that Ro did not con America. Do you want to know who is conning America? The American media companies have this country conned. They pick up stories and boy do they know how to run with em. The line separating yellow journalism and respected media outlets is erased. Maybe that's why the Enquirer is no longer relevant or worthwhile?
Rosie is nothing like the image this book or the mainstream media portray her as. On the contrary, Ro is loving, compassionate, sympathetic, and very generous and kind-hearted.
Don't take my word for it. Why don't you go to Ro's blog and hear what she has to say, you can even submit your own questions to her. Or read some of her books, Celebrity Detox: (the fame game) and Find Me.
Just like millions of people, Ro is my voice. If I could speak to Rosie I would thank her for her courage and for speaking the truth. Ro, you are my shero!
Get a life.......2007-06-09
People are people. Are you the same on your job as you are at home? Are you the same at home as you are in your head? I hate books that try to shove people into little categories. Rosie gives to charities and loves children and if that were all she was, it would be enough. People who have to find the negative in celebrities are probably very negative people themselves. By the way, the cover is a very poorly digitally altered picture to make her look fatter. Nice touch, Jim, Susan and Nicholas. I'd like to see pictures of you that you didn't have control over the publication of.
wish i could get the time back.........2007-04-26
not to diss but this book was terrible.
Awful.......2003-07-15
This is a terrible portrayal of a Rosie. It is sad that society looks at her this way just because she is trying to be who she really is. I would like to see half the people in America try out her shoes. I don't think they would be able to deal with the pressures that she has been through. Rosie has had many difficulties and for the authors of this book to produce this awful piece of work is utterly disgusting.

Rosie has taken on many roles, but her most important role to date is that of being a mother.
