Book Description
In ancient times, older women were the keepers of primal mysteries and were revered for their special wisdom. For this very special book, Joyce Tenneson traveled throughout America to photograph and interview women ages 65 to l00.What she found was a revelationwomen who were vital, energetic, and deeply beautiful, inside and out. The80 portraits are of women from all walks of life from the famous, such as Sandra Day OConnor, Julie Harris, and Angela Lansbury, to the ordinary, such as our mothers and grandmothers. Tennesons compelling and compassionate portraits, accompanied by short poignant statements from these remarkable women about the experience of aging, will help to reawaken us to the power and wisdom of our elders.

Wise Book.......2007-06-09
Beautiful sepia-toned photos focus the reader's attention. Some of the women in the book are well known, some are not - which leads you to think maybe you could be wise or courageous or beautiful also. Interesting quotes. Interesting book. I bought one for a friend. After reading it, I bought several more for myself and other friends.
An inspiration of a book!.......2007-04-02
I found this book at my massage therapist's.
I couldn't put it down.
It is absolutely beautiful, and real and inspiring.
The photography is incredible.
This is a MUST for every special woman in your life!
Wise Women.......2007-03-10
I bought this book for my 61 year old sister. After seeing this in the doctors office I knew this was a must for her. She means the world to me and I felt that this would say it all. It has!!! Beautifully done.
Wise Women - photos and messages.......2007-01-20
This book was a gift but I own it and knew it is marvellous. The recipient was very touched and inspired by the photos and the words of wisdom - she said every woman over 40 should have it in their collection.
Wise Women for Every Age.......2007-01-10
The book is stunning. The photography and text work together to create a multi-dimensional image of these women -- famous, infamous, or someone like your aunt Jenny whose status remains within the family. This is a book to keep by your bed and pick up when you need some inspiration or just want to read for five minutes before you fall asleep. Buy it, keep it, and buy more as gifts. It's a treasure.
Book Description
** COMPLETELY UNAUTHORIZED **
Speculating about the cultural metaphors in Janet Evanovich's wildly popular mystery series (which includes 11 books, from One for the Money to Eleven on Top), this anthology takes a look at lingerie-buyer-turned-bounty-hunter Stephanie Plum and catalogs her bad luck with cars (she's blown up quite a few), her good luck with men, her unorthodox approach to weapon storage, and the rich tapestry of her milieu: Trenton, New Jersey, also known as The Burg. The contributors praise the way the series smartly spoofs that familiar chick-lit epiphany—I have a bad job and what I really want is a good man!—in "Bounty Hunting as a Metaphor for Dating," "Why Stephanie Should Quit Her Job . . . but Never Will," and "Nothing Better than a Bad Boy Gone Good." Several essays veer from the chick-lit perspective and focus instead on the comic theme of luck and chance that ties Stephanie to the barroom gamblers and gangster meanies of her home town in "Luck of the Italian?: Skill Versus Chance."

"Plum" seriew.......2007-09-02
I love the Stephanie Plum series of novels. I really hate reading so I purchase them both in audio for me and paperback for houseguests and friends. I'm drawn in with the excitment and adventure of the story that Janet seems to capture in every novel. It has twists, turns, Lula, mystery, wonder, and of course two very "HOT" men! Who wouldn't want a mix of both men. :} I would recommend the "Plum" series, her "Full" series, as well as her earlier novels of mixed titles. They're all great fun and keep you as a reader at the edge of your seat waiting to see if a cars going to get blown up, who's died this week, who attends the pot roast dinner, who she sleeps with next, what will burn down next, and will she get her man (love or bounty). I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. I look forward to #14 in the "Plum" series, the next "Full" novel, and the new novel Janet recently wrote with a new author being released this October. Thank you!
Miserable waste of money.......2007-08-29
Sorry I bought it. NOt worth the time to read. Even an unauthorised biograpy should have some consistency, some value not author conjecture. I know the lady is a character but this author didn't seem to be able to follow even an elementary line of thought as to how she got to be who she is. My opinion but I'm sticking to it
Toatal Waste of Time and Money.......2007-08-24
This book was a total waste of time and money. It was really just a rip off on information that could be gotten from almost any Stephanie Plum books written by Janet Evanovich.
PERFECTLY PLUM.......2007-08-21
LOUSY BOOK. UNAUTHOURIZED AT THAT. EVANOVICH OUGHT TO SUE THEM. BUNCH OF WANNABE'S SITTING AROUND TRYING TO DISECT EVANOVICH & PLUM. NOTHING TO BE GLEANED HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. BETTER YET...BUY MY COPY. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Not what I expected.......2007-08-08
I don't know what I expected but I love the Stephanie Plum series. I have started this book 3 times at various essays and it hasn't held my interest yet. If anything changes I'll change my review.

Customer Reviews:
Great Holiday Book!.......2007-08-06
Junie B. does it again...she makes us laugh during one of the most memorable holidays in a young child's life!! We see a soft side of Junie B. which rarely shows itself, but allows us to get to know her that much more AND teaches us a life lesson! My daughter and I loved reading this together!
Junie B - elf girl.......2007-07-14
Another story in the series by Park! Keeps you laughing - and will take you down memory lane as Junie B. gets ready for Christmas & will remind you of ALL those "fun" lyrics we made up to Christmas songs! She's still irrepressible & even though her language is "becoming more adult" there are still enough "Junie B.-isms" to keep you in stitches. If you're collecting the series, get going to the cash register!
So funny you will laugh at loud!.......2007-03-18
Barbara Park the author of this book and the entire Junie B. series has a writing style like no other. Her way of getting kids wanting to read through the real true to life stories of the kindergartener and first grader Junie B. Jones is fantastic. Barbara Park and her Junie B. books are consistently on the both the New York Times and the USA Today bestseller lists.
As of this date their are 26 books in the Junie B. series with the newest being Junie B. Dumb Bunny and this being the second newest. We have this book in the hard cover edition that has a paper cover sleeve and attached red satin ribbon bookmark for easily holding your current page. Santa left this in my then six year old's stocking the Christmas before last. It had just come out that previous month of 2005.
Junie B. Jones were the first chapter books that my daughter started reading. She was captivated by them as most kids this age are. They don't tell of a sticky sweet child but rather of the true to life hardships from the kid's view that a determined, opinionated, and sometimes frantic girl. She has some of the funniest moments in this book that my daughter and I burst out laughing at. Junie B. Likes to do things her own way and expects the world to pretty much revolve around her. Of course it doesn't and the trouble starts. In the end Junie B. learns a little bit anyway how to handle things.
In this book it Christmas time as the title suggests. The first grade classroom is getting ready for the holiday and the celebrations to come. They are learning and singing holiday songs and wearing elf costumes all of which are extremely exiciting to Junie B. As we have learned through previous books a classmate May is not exactly one of Junie B.'s favorite people. This time May has become a tattletale that is ruining the fun for Junie B. The part that stops Junie B. in her tracts and just may destroy this whole holiday season is that she draws May's name in the Secret Santa exchange that classroom number one is having. Junie B. comes up with a plan to get back May through the gift she plans on giving her. As usual things don't turn out as Junie B. has planned.
The books has 118 pages with 11 chapters. Their are usually about two illustrations per chapter. These are done in black and white print. The illustrator, Denise Brunkus perfectly captures the emotions of the fun and frustration of Junie B. But it's the cleverly written words that draw you in and make you feel like you can feel not only Junie B.'s joy but also her pain. She's is not quite the kid that you want your child to emulate but just the same a kid can learn from Junie B.'s problems that they are likely to encounter at some point in there grade school career.
Must have!
Hilarious and adorable!.......2007-01-10
My daughter is so in love with Junie B! When she opened this up and started reading, it was wonderful to hear the laughter it brought!!! If you want many laughs brought on by a child's perspective, get this book...too cute!!
Love All Junie B Books!.......2006-12-26

In the 24th installment of Barbara Park's Junie B. Jones series of illustrated early chapter books, Boo... And I Mean It!, the precocious first grader is worried about Halloween--with good reason. Paulie Allen Puffer has given her five good reasons, in fact, not least of which is that real witches and monsters go trick-or-treating on Halloween (no costumes necessary); if you carve pumpkins with pointy teeth, they will bite your feet; and...shhh...candy corn isn't really corn. Junie B. goes to great lengths to avoid trick-or-treating altogether, but she finally decides that if she dresses up like Squirty the Clown (a disturbing circus clown who terrified her grandmother by chasing her with a seltzer bottle and making her wear an "unattractive balloon hat"), even the most horrific witches and monsters will be scared off. As ever, her way of expressing herself "I did a groan" and "Chills came on my arms" is grammatically unique, but as you get to know her, more endearing than alarming. Children who have mixed feelings about Halloween festivities will relate to Junie B.'s fears, and they'll be relieved when Halloween passes without a monster attack or pumpkin bite, just a delicious bag of 100% candy. (Ages 4 to 8) --Karin Snelson

Probably the Best Junie B. Ever.......2007-01-21
Hands down this is one of the best Junie B. books ever. I would say it is tied for first place with my other personal favorite, Junie B. Jones is a Beauty Shop Guy. This one will have you laughing out loud non stop! We have the book, and the recording, and we have listenend so many times, we all repeat the funny one liners along with Junie B.-even my husband! "If candy corn isn't corn, then what kind of vegetable is it?" If you don't have this one in your collection, get it!
A book my son couldn't put down !!!!!.......2006-12-08
My 9 year old, son is a reluctant reader! I"m lucky to get him to sit and read for 15 min. per night. He started to read this book and couldn't put it down! One hour of straight reading! The author has a charming writing style. My son and I giggled throughout the book. My son said,"It was a very fun book to read."
Junie B., First Grader Boo...and I mean it!.......2006-05-25
This book was hilarious only like Junie B. can be. As a first grade teacher I have read the kindergarten books to my past two classes, and they LOVE her! Although I have not read BOO...and I mean it! to them I know they would love this book as well. I myself laughed throughout the entire story. Junie B. is scared of Halloween because a boy, who has been known to tell, lies to Junie B., has told her awful things about the holiday. Readers will enjoy reading this book as Junie B. tries to find ways to avoid Halloween and the scary things that is until she decides to scare the "scary" things first. I love this book because I know first graders who are also scared of Halloween. If you know a child who is scared of Halloween I suggest that you read this book to them. It is wonderful!
Ooh, It's a Scary Clown!.......2005-12-22
Halloween is fast approaching, but this is one holiday Junie B. Jones is not excited about. In fact, she's a bit scared and upset. It seems that crazy boy Paulie Allen Puffer is at it again --- he told Junie B. five scary secrets about Halloween that have soured her on the holiday. Despite the fact that Paulie Allen's information has been bad in the past, Junie B. is still scared. She tries to literally hide from the holiday and doesn't want to go shopping for a Halloween costume.
Junie B. gets a great idea on how to overcome her Halloween fears. It's a funny idea, but one that exasparates her Mom.
This book is full of the usual clever humor including some funny bits about candy corn not be real corn and "thank you" sometimes being a fib.
This story really isn't too different from any normal Junie B. Jones story. Most fans of the series will likely eat this up, just like a bag of candy.
Junie B., First Grader Boo... and I mean it!.......2005-09-17
Junie B. has a problem that she needs to deal with and quick, she is scared of Halloween. Of course her fears are based in "fact" because she got her info from an 8th grader and as she states they are almost adults. She works through her fears in a logic that, I think, very much paralles the thought processes of a first grader. Barbara Parker makes this girl take life in a fantastically funny manner. She makes Junie intelligent and witty, sometimes to witty for her own good. This was my first encounter with Junie but I can assure you it will not be my last. A must read for either caretakers of small children or Halloween lovers of any age.

Absolutely Fantastic! .......2007-03-18
I am a traditional dance dress artist, although not as prolific (or even as expert) as some of those featured in this book. If I could have given more than 5 stars it would receive them. The photos were beautifully clear, although there only one or two photos of some of the featured dresses, they showed the splendor and detail of artistry from the past. I hope this doesn't spawn more artifakes, especially those coming to the US from overseas. This book is a long-awaited dream come true.
Book Description

Cute Kids Book!.......2006-05-26
Ann Estelle has always wanted a beautiful hat for Easter covered with ribbons and flowers. Instead, her mother gets her a traditional, classic hat with only one blue ribbon. Try as she might, Ann Estelle simply cannot like the hat so she thinks nothing of leaving it on her front porch one afternoon. A few days later, her mother discovers the hat, but with a surprise. There is a robin inside! The hat turns into a beautiful Easter surprise for Ann Estelle, and she discovers that having the best Easter hat doesn't always have to do with how many ribbons or flowers adorn it.
I rarely review children's books, but picked this book up on a whim as I am a huge fan of Mary Engelbreit. I love her colorful, fun illustrations! This book was cute, had adorable pictures, and a great storyline. I read it to my 5-year-old son, and he enjoyed the story even though it was about a girl. This book is a beautiful, fun read.
Enjoy!
Book Description
Frances Weaver finds life astonishing. A widow with four children and eight grandchildren, she discovered the joys of writing in her fifties with the original The Girls with the Grandmother Faces in a self-published edition. Listeners across the country can now hear the power of Weaver's signature warmth and wisdom on what life can offer in its second half.
Weaver urges those over 55 to regard their lives with newly opened eyes. This is a world in which older people have better health, housing, educational opportunities and discretionary buying power than at any other time in history. But, she cautions: "Being old nowadays is not for sissies." It's for those self-starters who can learn to fly kites, go back to school, and re-evaluate who they are and where they want to go after the death of a spouse, or the emptying of a noisy, child-dominated household.
With wit and common sense, Frances Weaver tackles moving, making new friends in your sixties, travel, support groups, and even sex in this life-saving work Weaver regards not as a "how-to," but a "why-not!"
Customer Reviews:
Makes Me Laugh!.......2007-03-09
I had read this book several years ago. Since then I have become a widow. Looking for anything to lift my spirits I stumbled across this book at the library. After re-reading it, I knew I had to have my own copy. It made me laugh. Frances Weaver gives you permission to laugh at life. She shows you how to find a way through the sadness. I highly recommend it.
Grandmother Faces is wonderful.......2005-09-08
I actually was loaned a copy of this book and loved it so much I bought my own. I've now loaned it to my mother who may buy one for herself and some of her friends. This is an inspiring book for any one over 50. I loved it!!!
Love the title.......2000-08-06
I just turned 60, and my best friend gave "grandmother faces" to me for a b.d. present. It's hard to categorize this book because it covers a variety of isssues; however, the basic philosophy is wonderful (live life to its fullest at a mature age). It would be an excellent book for many older women, but especially widows past the first couple of years. What a role model Frances is. There are lots of practical suggestions, too. Although my husband is with me (thank goodness), I can understand that widowhood is not the end of the world; it does have some pluses. I'm planning to send this book to my grandchildren's other grandmother, who is a widow.
Great book for widowed women, not for divorcees.......1999-06-29
This book is good for widowed women over 55, but just didn't help deal with the greatest challenges facing a divorced woman who has been in the work force her entire live, is able to make decisions and choices on her own and faces a different set of challenges than someone who is widowed (surgeon's wife) with financial security and a supportive extended family.
Need some good laughs-- with useful advice? Read this!.......1999-03-10
Having heard Frances Weaver on the TODAY show, I was anxious to read her book, and what a pleasure it was! I have since given copies to many of my friends, and they also enjoy her wit and wisdom! I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in living life to the fullest -- Frances Weaver is an inspiration, and her attitude toward life is refreshing! She concentrates on "why not?" instead of "how to"-- and does it very well.

Slended book meant for all ages.......1999-04-04
This book was a good lesson about friendships and made me stop and think of some of the relationships i've had and let get away. Also one chaper mentioned the importance of writing letters instead of picking up the tellephone. Made me realize others enjoy receiving letters and they can be reread where phone calls are almost a one time thing.
Endearing Book.......1998-03-14
A great book for yourself or to give to a girlfriend. Filled with short stories of how women friends have touched their lives. I keep it on the coffee table to re-read and remind me of all the wonderful friends I have.
Book Description
In The Grandmother of Time, Zsuzsanna Budapest teaches both beginners and experieced practioners how to intergrate wiccan spirtuality into their everyday lives. Here are new approaches to today's rituals, from birthdays and dedications of newborn babies to purifying our homes and protecting us in travel.
Customer Reviews:
I love this book............2007-09-03
It is not a book that you have to read cover to cover in that order but a seasonal book that gives you ideas to incorporate into your own personal practice.
The Grandmother of Time.......2007-07-15
I have studied the wiccan path for a number of years on my own but only recently have been fortunate to have the guidance of an excellent teacher who recommended this book. I have enjoyed what this book has added to my teachings and to my everyday activities.
The grandmother of time.......2005-08-09
A very special book, that gives ideas for feasts and holidays through the year. Every month begins with a Goddess who tells the story of that month, and then the days of the month follow with feast for all kinds of Goddesses. The nice part of this book is that there are so many different feasts and Goddesses, everyone can find a Goddess of her liking here.
The only thing that I can say against this book is that sometimes the historical information is not correct, due to Budapest's overwhelming feminism, that gets a bit irritating after a while.
Z Budapest is a legend.......2005-05-21
Z Budapest is the founding mother of the women's spirituality movement. Her Dianic craft is a lovely religious tradition which teaches us harmony with nature and human beings. Her book became an instant classic. Please treat yourself to this work.
Z Budapest is a spiritual genius.......2005-04-30
I adore any book by Witchcraft author Z. Budapest. The Grandmother of Time is my all time favorite. She discusses hwo she arrived in the U.S. from her native Hungary. Z. is a witch whose Hungarian ancestors have practiced the craft for centuries. In this book she mixes her own personal herstory with information on Goddesses of the globe. This is a truly loving and fascinating book.
