Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great first book for baby.......2007-09-29

As mentioned by other reviewers, this is a flap book that teaches babies different body parts by playing "peek a boo" and hiding the babies' mouth, feet, belly button etc. This was the first book my baby ever focused on when he was around two months (I think it is due to the movement of the flaps and the bright pictures). At four months he still enjoys this book over most of his other books.

5 out of 5 stars Bright and Colorful.......2007-09-17

I had never heard of Karen Katz until I came across this book last Christmas and decided to buy it as a gift for my then 9-month old son. One of the best decisions I've ever made. He loves it just as much now (almost a year later) as he did when I first got it for him. I have no idea why this book tickles him so much, but anything that keeps him happy an laughing is a permanent hit with me. We've since purchased more books by Karen Katz and he enjoys them all, but "Where Is Baby's Belly Button" is by far his all-time favorite!

3 out of 5 stars Flaps hard to open.......2007-09-16

I bought this book based on rave reviews and recommendation for my daughter. While it's a great concept and the colors are eye catching, the book was a real flop for my daughter and I because the flaps were so hard to open. My daughter would lose interest between "Where is Baby's mouth?" and the time it would take for me to reveal the body part. When she was older, she also had trouble opening them, and we had to bend a few flaps to make it easier. I really try to avoid this book during story time.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Read.......2007-09-13

Our son's only 3 months old and even though he probably didn't get a kick out of it we did....can wait until he can understand it!! HEHE

5 out of 5 stars Great flap book.......2007-08-29

If your child loves 'Lift the Flap' books, then he/she will love this one. It's great for teaching body parts.

Book Description

More than 65 delightful games and activities to jump-start your baby's amazing brainpower

Can simply singing a song or blowing a dandelion under a toddler's nose help her mind to blossom? Can your baby count, remember events, and solve problems even before he can talk? The exciting answer to both questions is yes!

Breakthrough research is revealing the extraordinary inborn abilities of infants.
It is also showing how experiences during the first years of life profoundly
influence intelligence, creativity, language development-and even later
reading and math skills.

Now two psychologists and child development experts-authors of the bestselling Baby Signs-have created a delightful guide for parents based on the most up-to-date knowledge of how babies discover the world. You'll learn how to:

_ Create a homemade mobile to stimulate your three-month-old's delight in solving problems
_ Play a patty-cake game to help your two-year-old
make logical connections
_ Initiate bedtime conversations that build your child's memory and sense of personal history
_ Develop "Baby Signs" to help your toddler communicate before he or she can talk
_ Stimulate your child's natural number skills with puppets and counting games
_ Use nursery rhymes and special read-aloud techniques to foster reading readiness
_ Nurture budding creativity with humor and fantasy play
_ And much more!

Baby Minds is not another program for creating "super babies." Instead it
builds on activities that babies instinctively love to develop their unique abilities and make your daily interactions full of the joy of discovery-for both of you.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous book - every parent should have!.......2007-08-01

I read this book and then bought a copy so I could keep it as a reference. Full of fascinating information about baby development that every parent should know -- I was surprised to learn just how advanced babies' minds are as soon as they are born, how they are much more aware of the world around them than previously thought. This book has many ideas of how to capitalize on your baby's brain development as s/he grows. Simple and fun games to play and ways to interact with your child. I love this book and have used many of the ideas already with my 8-month-old daughter.

5 out of 5 stars Focusing Mr. Live Wire.......2007-05-13

Our first and only grandchild has the typical inquisitive mind of a toddler. This book helps us to offer additional play that will encourage the mind. It is the small things that have influenced him the most.

4 out of 5 stars Great info on baby's brains!.......2007-03-28

Sort of a review of "Early Childhood Development" courses. With reference to Skinner and Vygotsky's work. Very interesting and a fast, easy read.

3 out of 5 stars Interesting but wordy.......2006-11-04

This is an interesting book and it goes into detail about little minds, but some of it may be too technical for parents who just want to learn the games and not why or how they stimulate. Some parents might not have time to read all the background info and would like to just get down to the fun part, which is a little bit difficult with this book. Still, if you have the time to devote to this book, it really is interesting and enlightening and may encourage you to try to develop even more games to stimulate your child's growing mind which is certainly a good thing!

Toddlers will love this fun story. It has a hint of mystery as Baby searches for its Mommy. This is a unique way to teach kids the process of elimination as the illustrations rule out each place where Baby's Mommy is not hiding in anticipation of the exciting reunion between Baby and Mommy.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2006-11-11

Though my Son likes books of all kinds, he absolutely loves this and other Karen Katz lift-the-flap books. The illustrations are so simple, colorful and bright. After having read it a zillion times, he still is not tired of smiling everytime he finds mommy!

3 out of 5 stars Where is Baby's Mommy?.......2006-08-07

My 20-month daughter absolutely loves this book. Lifting all the flaps and being suprised everytime to see what is behind them. Always when she finds the Mommy I say " There's mommy" she looks at me with her big brown eyes and says "NO" and points to me and says "Mommy". The book is absolutely ADORABLE.

Newborns and 4 year olds all love these books. I give them to all of my friends as a baby shower gift.

4 out of 5 stars We <3 Karen Katz.......2007-05-16

These are, hands down, our daughter's favorite books. She enjoys them over and over. The illustrations are bright and cute -- highly recommend these books -- especially the lift the flap -- she LOVES them.

5 out of 5 stars Baby's Box of Fun.......2007-05-13

I purchased this book set for my grandson when he was 12 months old. Listening to books is the only time he actually sits still. His favorite book was Toes, Ears, & Nose although he likes all the books because they are interactive. The only problem with the books is if he is left unsupervised or even when holding him, he rips off the flaps in the books. We have had to glue them back on numerous times. I would highly recommend these books but you must be careful with babies that are aggressively interactive with the books.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!.......2007-03-28

This item was received as a gift and my 2 yr old loves her lift the flaps books. Her favorite out of this collection is "Where is Mommy". I have also purchased them for my friends children and they love them.

I bought this from 'oktrbks' and never received.
Contacted the seller and was asked if I want another copy so I said 'yes'
I have not received this yet. I was waiting for this because I believed the seller will send me an another copy. But now It's been more than 90 days so I can not even get my money back.
Not a big money but doesn't feel good at all about the seller's feedback.
Will see if the seller will contact me about this item or not.
I sent an memo to seller today again.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great cards!.......2007-08-24

I do not feel that you need the video (though we do have it) to get the full use of these cards. I have never once used them at the same time as the video, though I believe they do get reinforced while watching it. I have been using them with our daughter since she was <1yo. She is now 18 months and can say every one on there (either by name or sound, depending on what I have taught her). Additionally, I can scatter them in a pile, and she can pick out the ones I call to her. When I say, "Let's do cards.", she goes running to them right away. We really like them. The cards are colorful, very sturdy and a great development tool in my opinion.

2 out of 5 stars Real-life images of stuffed animals.......2007-07-28

First, let me say that my child is a big fan of the Baby Einstein dvds. They do have educational value and are generally well done. The description of the flash cards includes the following "Each beautifully illustrated card features real-life images...". What about 50% of the cards featured were "real-life images" of stuffed animals. I expected a photo of a cow, pig, rooster, etc. There were photos or photo-realistic images of the fruits, but not of the animals. It was like a catalog for the toys used in the videos. I was very disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Drool Resistant.......2007-05-14

My husband and I purchased these cards for our 9-month old son. We figured the cards would be a learning toy that would entertain him for many months to come. Our baby is really intrigued by the cards - mouthing them and enjoying the brightly colored images on the cards. The cards are printed on heavy laminated stock and have, so far, withstood drool and teething bites.

I can see us inventing many different games with the cards as he gets older. And the back of each card gives you (simple) suggestions of questions to ask your child (example: flower - "Flowers smell nice. Show me how you smell a flower.")

I hesitate to give the cards a 5-Star rating because of two issues. 1. I would prefer the animal images on the cards be actual objects instead of stuffed animals (example: a photo of a real duck would be more educational than a picture of a stuffed animal duck). 2. On the back of every card, it tells which Baby Einstein video the image is first introduced. I am not sure why this info is important...other than it serves to promote their videos. To me, it comes across as an ad and turns me off a bit (but that's just me).

5 out of 5 stars Son Sparkled. Mom Sparkled Too!.......2007-03-18

We love these cards! By we, I mean our entire family. I purchased these for my 18 month old. We already had the video and was delighted with it, and I thought these would be a great extension to further explore other languages. My son absolutely beamed over the pictures, espicially the peas, the dog, and the firetruck. I love that I'm learning with him, and it is easy because the pronunciations are spelled out in a way that is easy to understand. He knows over half of the cards in Spanish by now. Additionally, and unforseen, my eighteen year old and her boyfriend like to hold the cards up and try to pronounce the words in all of the languages: Spanish, French, Russian, German, Hebrew, Japanese. They laugh as they are learning. It is great interaction for all of us!

5 out of 5 stars these cards are a perfect learning tool for toddlers.......2007-02-18

I got these cards because my little girl is still not talking. On the first day I recieved these, her eyes lit up when she saw the bright pictures and she really enjoyed them. I have trouble getting her attention and these cards worked instantly. I think that these cards are a great teaching tool for parents of toddlers. She is well on her way. I would highly recommend these. =)

Product Description

Scholastic Books and Taggies, Inc. have joined together to create this finely crafted soft cover book entitled "My First Taggies® Book: Sweet Dreams". A soft fleece cover and beautifully embroidered interior spreads offer a unique opportunity for learning while snuggling! Featuring our Taggie tags that kids love to play with! This is already one of the UK's most popular soft books and it even washes clean! Measures 15cm square.

Amazon.com

Modeled after the popular Taggies baby blankets, My First Taggies Book is a soft fleece picture book with eight different looped ribbon tags to rub and pull and chew. The content of the book is very simple: three two-page spreads featuring a plush kitty, bunny, and puppy, along with accompanying rhymes. "Sweet dreams, little kitty,/ Rock-a-bye and nighty night." The point here is not the plot line, but the delightfully cuddly feel of the book and the interactive tags. Designed to be tactile and visually stimulating, each tag has a different print or texture, much like the satin edges of blankets or clothing labels that so intrigue babies and toddlers. A gentle and safe way to introduce the very youngest "readers" to the world of books. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Baby Loves Taggies Book.......2006-11-10

My six-month-old loves her Taggies Book. (She received it when she was four months old.) Now, she likes to hold it and rub the tags. It is perfect size to lay across her lap while she is in her car seat. Very nice.

4 out of 5 stars My son loves those little tags.......2006-11-04

When my son first got the book, he was absolutely fascinated with the tags. He also loves to feel the velvety pictures. And it's also one of the first books I began reading to him.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for bedtime.......2005-08-25

This is a wonderful book that my nine-month-old has enjoyed since we received it as a gift when he was 2 months old. I don't understand the other reviews that say "it isn't much of a story". "Sweet Dreams", as the title implies, is a bedtime book. And it is perfect for that. Short, simple, engaging but not exciting, it is oh-so-soft and very comforting. My son loves it. He touches each animal ("kitty", "bunny", & "puppy") as we read, and I even stroke his face with the book once at the end as a final soother. It is the second of the two books we read at bedtime, the first being Baby Animals, which is a more active "Tough & Feel" book, but a good transition from active to night-night. I highly recommend Sweet Dreams for anyone looking for a comforting quiet book for bedtime reading with their baby. At nine-months, he seems far from outgrowing it; we will enjoy this book for some time to come.

An update at 13 months: still a wonderful way to go to bed. He can be teething or excited or anything other than sleepy. But when we start this book, he settles right down and gets snuggly and sleepy. After all, kitty, bunny and puppy are asleep in their beds, so it must be a good idea!

5 out of 5 stars A perfect gift for your newest adopted family member.......2005-04-04

I think this is a perfect gift for any baby shower or new addition to your family. Especially for those who are adopting a child International like we did. We wheren't sure how much stimulation our daughter received in her Social Welfare Institute in China and so we brought this colorful book along. The book is a soft flannel and each tag is has a different color and texture and what child doesn't like tags of any sort. If you find this book in the book store or sometimes in a gift shop you can choose the colored tags and textures, for each one is different.

As a reading book, this is not and I am not really sure that's what this book was intended to be. I think this book is for stimulation of your babies sences. Can't say enough about this book and the taggie blanket, you just can't go wrong bringing to a baby shower on as one of the items packed in your already full bag on your way to be united with your daughters and or sons!

4 out of 5 stars Great for babies (under 1).......2005-03-04

I received a taggie blanket at my baby shower and my daughter loves it, so when I saw this book I bought it. She loves it, it as well. I find this works well in the stroller or backback and she likes to chew on all the tabs (tho' mostly the information tag, as it is the biggest). It cleans easily in the wash. It isn't really much of a "story" -- this is mostly a book-shaped toy. But she gives it lots of attention and it is a wonderful distraction for in the car or playpen. My son, who is two years old, thinks the loops are funny and likes to stick his fingers in them, but this is really an item for a baby. I don't imagine a toddler interested in real books would get much out of it.

Nina Laden's illustrations in this simple, rhyming board book are truly magical. The format is straightforward: on alternating two-page spreads, the words "Peek a" are repeated, opposite an illustrated page with a die-cut hole, behind which lurks a cow ("MOO!"), a green ghost ("BOO!"), and a mirror (you guessed it, "YOU!"). The youngest readers will delight in trying to guess who--or what--is peeking through the window, and can easily grip the baby-fist-size holes to turn the pages for the answers. The picture of the "ZOO!" is fabulous. Through the hole, all that can be seen is a wild pattern of colors, stripes, and spots. Turn the page, and find a wild kingdom of animals, one in front of the other: peacock, zebra, penguin, cheetah, elephant, and more. Ready for more peekaboo fun? Try Nina Laden's Ready, Set, Go! . 5 out of 5 stars Great for one-year-olds, according to my grand-nieces!.......2007-09-15

My grand-nieces, who just turned one year old, were fascinated with this book as soon as I gave it to them. That's the best reward I could have gotten!

5 out of 5 stars Great board book for infants and their parents.......2007-08-31

My son has loved this book since we gave it to him at about 5 months old. He's now 7 months and in the "grab and eat everything" phase, but still settles down and studies the pictures in Peek-a-Who when we read it to him. I've already ordered several more for baby shower gifts. And just like some other reviews state, it's nice and short.

5 out of 5 stars Her Favorite.......2007-08-15

This is my little girls favorite book. Sometimes we read it a few times at a time.

5 out of 5 stars love it!.......2007-07-30

This is one of the best board books I have ever come across. My daughter received this as a gift at 5 months old. She loved it then and she STILL loves it (she's 9 months now). She will sit and look at it for long periods of time. It's also easy enough for my 3yo to read so he will sit and read it to my daughter. :)

5 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC BOOK!!.......2007-07-15

MY kids LOVE this book. After reading it once, my 16 month old son could finish the sentences for me! I recommend this book for ANYONE with babies/toddlers. I have 1 y/o twins. One is a reader and one is a non-reader. Even my non-reader loves these books. Anything by Nina Laden will do!!

4 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2006-06-30

Bought this book for my kids who are ages six and seven. Good mix of hard to find and easier to find items. We also bought I spy books for other kids that we know and they were hooked. Makes a nice gift.

5 out of 5 stars I Spy is a terrific series........2006-03-01

My husband and I have more fun with these books whether it's with our grandson or our friends. We really get into it and found that it helps our eye coordination and our memory. I would highly recommend this to anyone at any age!

5 out of 5 stars Truly a great learning book!.......2006-01-12

I find these books great mind stretchers, even for us older folks. This book especially is a learning tool because there is a page with all the letters of the alphabet surrounded by little objects that start with each letter. Another page groups things by category with overlapping categories. Really well done.

4 out of 5 stars i spy series.......2005-07-20

I love this series our daughter is about to enter kindergarten and she really enjoys finding all the items on each page!

5 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!.......2004-07-15

My ten year old son introduced me to this fun little book (OK, it's big, but thin.), which he has been looking at for several years now. It has fourteen, two-page sized pictures of a collection of odds and ends connected with school. At the bottom of each of them is a list of things that you can look for (sort of like, Where is Waldo). But, read through to the end, there is a riddle about someone you'll find in each of the pictures.

This is a fun book. It challenges the young reader to concentrate on what is actually on the page, and pick out certain select items. I like that my son reads it for fun, even as the book is teaching him to concentrate and search systematically. He loves this book, and so do I. We both highly recommend this book to you.

Readers play peek-a-boo with a different animal on each page, guessing what it is, then lifting the flap to find out. 5 out of 5 stars Great Infant/Toddler Book.......2007-01-11

They used to read this book frequently at reading times in Ohio when my daughter was in baby laptime. She always loved it and I gave it to a friend as a gift. She says that her daughter is really enjoying it as well.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2006-03-03

This book is great. I not only have my own children but I own a child franchise and I read this book to our 10-13 mo. olds and 12-15 mo. They just stare and smile and try to grab every page.
I love this book.

3 out of 5 stars Your toddler will love it, but the flaps will tear!.......2006-02-04

Your little one will have plenty of fun pulling down the flaps in this colorful book. However, the large flaps in Peek-a-Moo! are thick paper and therefore easily tear and crease. Also, if you have a toddler who does not want or understand to close the flap back up with each page (such as the case with our 14-month-old daughter), you need to make sure the flaps are back up before you turn the page. Otherwise, they will hang out the bottom of the book, vulnerable to further damage from the wrath of an active toddler. We have other lift-the-flap books that have smaller, thicker flaps that automatically close when you turn the page (such as Dear Zoo--highly recommended), which are in much better condition.

5 out of 5 stars A must for toddlers!.......2006-01-16

Excellent source of learning animal names and sounds, my 14 month loves it!

5 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves Both Peek-A-Moo & Peek-A-Zoo.......2005-12-17

My 12 month old daughter loves these books. She tries to repeat the animal sounds as we go through the books. She has my husband and I read these back to back repeatedly! I highly recommend both of these books.

My brother in law read this book (in a funny voice) to my four-year old son and they were both laughing out loud. What a great introduction to puns. After reading the book, it became a fun car-ride game to make up our own knock-knock jokes.

I am very disappointed in this book! I realize it is for a child, but the jokes are horrible. A waste of money. I would not recommend this book for any age.

If your child is really getting into knock-knock jokes - this is a great book. I just wish it were longer - there are about 8 or so jokes. Very cute though, nice size and paper quality and great graphics.
