Tomb Raider review .......2007-05-29
I guide really help me understand most if not all of the puzzels. The bosses are fairly easy and the each of the courses are are pure fun. I love the construct of the game it's fun granted. Though it may take a little getting use to the set up of the controls.Tomb Raider is the best game that I have played in while
Tomb Raider Legend Guide.......2007-04-17
Hi, I'm a lover of Tomb Raider. I've played many of the Tomb Raider games. The last one out; Legend, is very fun and even better then the tomb raider games before. The other Tomb Raider games gave you a phone number to call incase you got stuck. Tomb Raider Legend does not have that. Your best bet is to get Tomb Raider:Legend:The Complete Official Guide. This way you will not miss anything and if you can't figure something out and you've spent hours on it, you can cheat and find out how to do whatever it is you're trying to do or get through. Before purchasing the book I was told of a few different web sites where I could find answers to my questions I have about Legend. Unfortunately, that did not work for me. I'm very happy to have purchased The Complete Official Guide, for Tomb Raider Legend. It's made the game much more enjoyable, even more so than it already was!Tomb Raider: Legend: The Complete Official Guide
guidance delivered.......2007-03-27
This is just what I needed. Being new to the Tomb Raider series, I was in need of something to help me with the in's and out's of the game. With the guide, I have been able to get farther into the game in 3 days than I had managed in 2 months without it.
great addition.......2007-03-23
I bought this book almost a year after I bought and played the game. First of all, there is only 1 down-side on this book, I expected more page filling art works, scetches, of pictures of the locations. Sure they are in it too, but small and too few.
But never the less, don't let this spoil the book, because for the rest I found it very handy (and nice) to read. It's written in a funny way, clearly by somebody who also enjoyed playing the game and writing this book, Everything is explained in a clear way, making it sound almost too easy to get all the hidden treasures, and what I also found helpfull was a map of every level, in clear detail, where to find what, how to get there, what to find there. And ofcourse all the unlockable secrets of the game itself.
All together I am very happy with the purchase of this book
Mic.......2007-03-20
I'm very happy with this guide. It is very detailed with nice photos. It came in good time and in excellent condition. A little long to read and it does not stay open by itself but very informative and I am happy that I purchased it.

Customer Reviews:
Maybe not totally up to date but helpful all the same........2007-09-19
If you are just diving into SWG or a returning veteran like myself you will probably find this book helpful. It is fairly basic so if you are looking for something in depth this is not it however it does have stats on all the beasties, NPC's, and most professions. Because it is older it has nothing about the BEAST MASTER profession, that one you get to figure out on your own. If you can find a used copy of this book in good shape (thats what I did) it is worth the small investment. I keep it handy as a reference guide to what beasts are where in the galaxie since I am in the process of leveling a Beast Master on one of my toons.
May be outdated but still helpful.......2007-08-15
This book might not be up to date in every aspect of the game, but being a new player it has been invaluable. Online guides seem to be more outdated than the book. If you are new to this game, this book is a great help and a great reference.
not JUST the basics.......2007-01-08
I've seen people complaining about this guide including "just the basics" or that it's "completely useless". True, some of the statistics are outdated, and this was published just after the "NGE" overhaul of the profession structure, so it doesn't have everything QUITE right about the new professions.
It's not completely useless, though, as it DOES contain a lot of information all in one place. The city maps are decently detailed, and can certainly help you find your way around, and it DOES have a decent primer to get those new to Star Wars Galaxies started off on the right foot, at least as far as finding their first few quest paths.
That said, I certainly wouldn't pay much over half price for it now, even brand new. If you see someone offering it for $8 or less, and you're new to SWG, it would be a decent buy. On the other hand, it seems like I recall having seen a newer guide set to be released sometime in either January or February 2007, so ultimately, the question is whether you just need to get started, or some maps to find certain locations, or if you can wait for a newer, hopefully thoroughly updated guide.
Yesterday.......2006-06-26
This book is useless, don't waste your money on it. Read the instruction manuel that comes with starter kit and ask other player online for help.
Not worth it........2006-03-25
While this guide does give you the basics, it is not complete. With an ever changing game, this guide is behind. I have found more helpful information from other players then this book.

Prima's guide to MYST: URU; an informative review........2006-07-05
As a long time explorer in the MYST universe, I am very familiar with its mythos and conventions, and therefore any product which deals with these comes under close examination for validity and usefulness. I am glad to report that as they so often do, PRIMA has gotten it right in their guide to MYST: URU. The guide serves two purposes, firstly to aid you in solving the game's puzzles if (and when) you get stuck, and secondly to enhance the players gaming experience with its artwork, hints and extra information both about the game and its creators, Cyan.
The 'explorers aid' sections are divided between a fast walkthrough, giving the most direct path from beginning to end, and also a more immersive 'narrated' walkthrough giving softer hints for solving the puzzles and helping to creatively visualise the exploration experience. Both are useful, the former if you want only to complete the game and see all its 'puzzle secrets' revealed, and latter if you prefer to truly immerse yourself in discovering the 'artistic secrets' and exploring the ancient cultures and histories created by Cyan. This second portion is written from the point of view of a fictional explorer who has walked the paths of URU before you, and has left journals of their travels. Therefore the solutions to puzzles are revealed gradually, allowing players to read only so far and (hopefully!) solve the rest of each puzzle themselves.
Also included in the guide is a substantial colour section on the origins of Cyan, the MYST series and how URU came to be. If you are interested in how the Miller brothers began this epic saga in the very beginning, or in the various fascinating techniques involved in producing a game like URU, then this section has some amazing personal interviews and historical information about Cyan and its employees which kept me reading until I had finished it; I couldnt put it down! In fact, this was the first part of the guide I read, and I think for many MYST fans, the most interesting.
However, whether you are a diehard fan of the series, or if URU is your first foray into the universe of MYST, PRIMA's guide is an invaluable resource, both for its in-game assistance, and for its mind-expanding art and factual information. Enjoy!
URU Complete Chronicles Review.......2006-01-30
It is a little tough to give a complete review for I just started the game. So far the guide has been helpful when I got stuck.
Uru a bust for me.......2005-09-07
Unfortunately because of a particular chip on my Intel video card this game will not operate on my computer. Ubisoft says that Intel updated their drivers and the chip will no longer allow the game to play.

Customer Reviews:
Rich in information but outdated.......2007-03-21
This book contains very good and valuable information for those wanting to get into the game industry, unfortunately it was written in 2000, so most of the information is completely old for today standards, specially in this field.
For those who want to know about the game industry in general.......2005-08-23
This book is very well written, its easy to go through it quickly. One of the features I really like is the different interviews with game music composers asking everything from equipment to techniques to inspiration.
This book gives a detailed look into the industry, don't expect to learn how to compose from buying this book. This book is for musicians that are beginning or are already working with computer games and need to know about the industry. Sorry but there will never be books around pretending to teach you how to compose music, composing like anything else is something that you learn by doing and not by reading books. But if you are a musician already, and love computer games, then you won't regret this book.
Solid advice for composers wanting to get into the industry.......2005-07-06
This is a great book for those composers and sound designers wanting to break into the gaming industry. I do not understand why many people read this book hoping to find technical audio information, but this is NOT a TECHNICAL AUDIO or ENGINEERING book. This book is in the same vein as Jeff Rona's Reelworld book or Richard Davis's Complete Guide to Filmscoring.
Invaluable industry advice and at preparing your audio demo reels, and making connections. Must have for any aspiring game music composer or sound designer.
Few specifics.......2004-04-22
Although an o.k. book, I have to agree with "mysticmusing" in his criticism. The industry advice is probably invaluable to professional or budding audio dudes, but it fills up half the book..!
There are very few specfic examples of actual techniques for composition, sound effect development or integration. There are no concrete examples of game audio as implemented within any game engine - be it by C+ or through e.g. DirectMusic.
All in all this book has very little to tell people that don't already master all the great techniques and tools. And if you do master those techniques and tools, I suspect half of this book would be old news.
mysticmusing get out and read about the industry.......2003-10-21
Great book, and ignore that first review where it talks about lack of coverage of developer issues. The term developer is not used the same way in the game industry as it is in the more general software world. Developer does not mean programmer. Game programmers use the term programmer (imagine that!). A developer is someone who works in a broader role to get the game created (or developed), like say a producer or project manager or whatever. It is not the narrow term that we all have come to know and love in other areas of software development. Maybe those chapters on how to get into the industry might do you some good after all, eh?

Full Of Mistakes plusss a pokemon advertisement.......2006-06-03
This book spells the simplest of names wrong and labels Agumon as Gabumon. Its as if it was written by someone whos never even seen the show. Plus on one of the pages there is an advertisement for pokemon! ick much.
DO NOT GET THIS BOOK!.......2000-08-25
Even though I am a Digimon fan, there is TOO MANY MISTAKES in this book!If you want a good Digimon guide get the official digimon character guide. There is mistakes in that one was well, but only a little.
Well-inentioned, but full of mistakes........2000-07-22
The writers of this book sound like Digimon fans, espeically when one article author describes his lengthy hunt for the original LCD virtual pets.
However, the proofreading leaves a little to be desired. For each of the Digi-destined, they have pictures of their Digimon in various stages, taken from the cards. However, cards and names do not always match.
i.e.: Gabumon; Agumon card is shown. A Candlemon card is shown instead of Zudomon.
The names of the kids' crests are sometimes incorrect, and WarGreymon is constantly spelled WereGreymon.
This probably won't mean much to the younger fans, however, who get to look at pictures of the toys, cards, and Digimon, as well as a mini episode guide.
Though this is better if you're looking for an alternative to buying more than one Digmon book (i.e., one for the cards, one for the characters, etc.) it's still a decent Digimon book, if you can ignore some of the glaring errors
Pojo's Total Digimon.......2000-06-03
This is an exact duplicate of their Card Collector World magazine Special Digimon issue. This is OLD information. I bought their magazine and then bought this book. Since this book is exactly like their magazine THIS WAS a total waste of my money. Creativity is poor.
Review.......2000-05-14
This is a pretty good book with a lot of information, if you watch digimon, collect any of the card game, you should find this book pretty interesting. It would help if it had more info about the ty show.

Walkthroughs were OK, but better off not using it.......1999-10-17
Walkthoughs OK. They are mostly hand drawn, and in b&w. I found better help on webpages. I ended up not even using the book because of it's inaccuracy. There are many webpages out there that have full color screen shots that are not hand drawn, and dont spoil the game. I would not recommend this book.
An Average Stategie guide.......1999-10-03
It could've been better, they do have great boss strategies and walkthroughs. There are some problems not all there info is accurate, like names of items and such, I think mainly because they got mixed up w/ the game that cam out in Japan too. They don't tell you what level you should be for certain bosses, but not most strategie guides do, I used this throughout the game and didn't find too much trouble w/ it. I havn't seen any others guides for this most excellent RPG.
:(.......1999-09-27
This certainly WAS unathurized -as the company would NEVER allow something the bad to be official!! The translation of the game was terrible and it didn't even cover everthing! This is just about as accurate as the Dic dub of Sailor Moon was to the original! O_o;
all I have to say is that it's a good thing I got it free with my preorder!
BAD.......1999-08-06
They didn't get names right. They didn't know thier right from thier left. They used the wrong strategys when it came to beating bosses.
This book sucked!.......1999-08-02
This book sucked! A blank note book would have been as much of a help as this guide was. All I can say is if I were blind and this were my guide I would be walking though an intersection in the middle of rush hour. I implore you not to waste your money on this book. If you want a real guide buy the one produced by the company. It may be a little more expensive ,but it is a million times better.

Fantasy Baseball Strategy: Advanced Methods for Winning Your League
ASIN: 0028638301 |
Book Description
Not everyone gets to play Major League baseball. In fact, not everyone has played Little League or even pick-up games. But everyone can play fantasy baseball--and it seems as if almost everyone does, with the huge boost the game received via the Internet. Fantasy Baseball is the greatest thing to happen to baseball fans since the invention of the sport itself, according to Michael Zimmerman, author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Fantasy Baseball. You are the one with all the power--you are the owner, general manager, and manager in a league of your own. See how to draft real major league players to form your own team. Use real stats from each real season. Use your own money. And if you win, you own the right of all rights: bragging. And if you stink? You have only yourself to blame.
Customer Reviews:
A personal memoir of the author.......2000-08-22
This book was not a complete waste of time. You do learn about the author's experience in a particular type of fantasy baseball league, but it leaves a lot to be desired. He does not really instruct the reader in how to make themselves a better fantasy baseball owner. This was my first year in fantasy baseball and had to really learn as I went. This book was not a big help. I could find out how to play from the rules of the game I played. I need a book that covers various types and variations of fantasy leagues, Challenge, Roto, 5X5, Sabermetrics, and fantasy point types. If you are new to fantasy baseball I guess it gives you a look at one owner in one league, but you really have to talk to other owners, and read all kinds of tip-sheets and articles on ESPN.com and other fantasy sites. It's a lot bigger world than the author lets you in on.
Great Bokk.......2000-04-03
I really liked this book. Go buy it.
