Customer Reviews:
Good resource for Eberron Players and DMs.......2007-05-19
For anyone interested in psionics canon in Eberron, I'd highly recommend this book. There are a lot of NPCs and political information as well as some weapons and feats that may prove useful. It seems a little bit of a throw-back to forgotten realms style regional modules.
Downsides for me was that the material was very vague or limited, geographically, but fairly detailed politically. For example, they'll spend a tiny paragraph for a whole region that is leaking chaos into Eberron in Adar and has a lot of fantasy potential, then spend 5 pages talking about a political group that really, after reading it, isn't very interesting or have clear goals or themes.
For crunch, the PrCs and quori-related stuff seems a little tame...a lot more flavor than bang. Enough of the artwork is mediocre to remove it from the list of strengths.
I think I would have liked the book to be...bigger. There is a lot of material to cover and a lot of it gets short treatment or no treatment at all, but still a good book especially if you are interested in non-Khorvaire Eberron, as I am.
Secrets of Sarlona.......2007-04-13
I think this is an excelent product. I like the ideas that the dreaming dark present as villians and this book expands on those ideas. Both in how they would be used, and how to use those who would oppose them. I also appricate the inclusion of new quori that can be used with empty vessels to make enlightened. Finally I am a huge fan of psionics and many rule books include very little additional material on psionics, so I am excited about the additional psionic content in Secrets of Sarlona.
Limited Use.......2007-03-27
It is a very good book if you are running a campaign in Eberron on, or at least heavily involving the continent of Sarlona. Other than that It has very little use.
A few new prestige classes, feats, and weapons are the most it offers.

Sigh.......2007-01-12
Good product, but it fails in the same way many gaming products fail: they tease you but then don't tell you everything there is to know.
A very good look into a fascinating part of Eberron.......2006-11-06
As a DM, I really loved reading this suppliment. There are many maps, descriptions and side bars that allow you to truely customize Xen'drik for your players and your game. It's specific enough to keep you true to the setting, but open enough to make Xen'drik unique for each gaming group.
Xen'drik.......2006-08-19
This book is great for anyone playing in the Eberron world of Dungeons and Dragons. The book covers anything you need to know about the ancient continent. There are some great new items, 3 new prestige classes (1 specific to warforged), new spells, artifact spells, and new artifacts. There is finally a map of Xen'drik, that shows the lands features. There is alot of information on stormreach and a map of the city. There are even new monsters to encounter and Xen'drik adventuring ideas. This book is great for PCs travelling in Xen'drik or DMs who want all the information on Xen'drik for the gaming sessions.
Xen'Drik...is good!.......2006-08-02
I recently bought a copy of this book. I have read some reviews downplaying it but i give it a four and a half star rating.
First of all, the book is presented in a nice way. Like all the other Eberron books it looks nice. I also like the way all the encounters and sample local's are created not in a set location but with much room to change them and locate them anywhere on the continent you please. Basically it them showing you how to do it but the world is still yours.
The book is small though and wouldnt pay full price...lucky for amazon!
Lots of Promise.......2006-07-15
The excitement built around the mysterious continent of Xen'Drik raised my anticipation and hopes for this newest Eberron release. Baker and others wrote great pieces about the continent, much of the book outlined possible hooks for adventures, including specific destinations and NPC creation/design. The PrC list was small, and those special classes were shallow, too. Feats and spells must be lost on the Giants' Island, because I couldn't find many of them. I believe more detail and playable information about the drow was located in Races of Eberron. I like the book, but feel it's price was too high for the value of information contained within. I would have preferred a softbound book and a smaller price. I found the artwork and design nicely done, but the information for players and DMs faile to achieve potential.

Lit up my fire!.......2007-05-17
Found the book very easy to read and understand. I had purchased the book which was very highly recommended for feng shui, sacred space and geobiology consultations. Great information in regards to form and compass school but not much on flying stars.
We are patients and it appears he can cure anything.......2005-02-07
The man is an absolute genius in his field. We are patients and have been treated by him in his clinic and it is our opinion he can cure anything and increase life.. He's got to be one of the most enlightened beings on the planet and it's an absolute honor to be treated by him. His treatments get rid of not just physical problems but mental problems as well. Reading the book only touches on what Dr.Wu can really do. You can tell from the first treatment that you will never be the same again and will not keep suffering from the same old problems over and over anymore. You know the treatment works and the results continue to get better and better and better and there is no end to how great you can feel. If you have been to many doctors for your problems (especially long standing problems no one can figure out) it is my opinion that Dr. Wu CAN figure it out and fast! The problems my husband I have had for 25 years were solved in one visit when we finally found out where it really came from and what to do about it.
Gosh when I think of all those poor souls who take drugs to feel good, when they could take that same money and be getting acupuncture and curing their physical and mental problems without wrecking themselves, - this is the message I want to bring as to what Dr. Wu can do. He is not like just 'any' acupuncturist. He has been trained in his field from a young age from great masters and it appears to me he puts his own spiritual energy into the needles as well, which gives you that extra boost. So all of you out there, I recommend somehow getting to his clinic in Santa Monica, California. It is like a vacation for us each and every time we go there since we feel utterly recharged/refreshed/renewed, passion for living comes back and more!!...
Really gets down to business..........2001-07-10
This book on Feng Shui really gets into the nitty-gritty of working on qi problems for homes and land. Wu is one of the first in the recent spate of Feng Shui authors to really give some good details about working on your own internal energy in order to be able to sense and hopefully fix qi problems in your home. That is, this book is not just about rearranging some furniture or clearing some clutter, it is more about how to train yourself to detect qi and then be able to work out possible solutions for many types of problems.
Highly recommended; you just need to do some Qigong to start working on fixing your internal "clutter".
Charmingly Gossipy.......2001-06-19
Covers the same basic information you find in most feng shui books these days. Does have more of a Taoist twist with more emphasis on religious ceremonies for space clearing, exorcisms, etc. More interestingly, it is chock full of gruff, grandfatherly style anecdotes "as told to the author" as regards the superstitious end of feng shui. Not to be seriously compared with Lillian Too, but nice to have to get some perspective on how feng shui is approached and used in the Orient in its popular, "unsanitized" version. Nuggets of arcane information.
lighting the eye of the reader.......2001-06-06
Having studied authentic fengshui methods, several forms of Chinese astrology, fortune telling and Taoist secret methods, i.e. sorcery, with a Taoist master, whose name I respectfully withhold here, I was curious about this book of "inner secrets". In some details it is interesting. In others it is questionable. I find the author's tendency to obscure and pie some of her information very annoying. She tauntingly hints about secret and allegedly difficult I-Ching astrological divination methods that, in fact are not so difficult to learn. There are a number of such methods. They are amazing in what they reveal. The author hopelessly mystifies this area. Too bad she doesn't share it properly. If she cared to write about these methods, instead of confusing them, she should have been open and explained them clearly and completely so that the readers could have learned them. On the other hand, she should have said nothing. What is the point of mystifying the subject? Something else in the book I found highly questionable in light of Taoist sorcery is the ways she recommends using mirrors. She can fill your house with bad spirits that way. Notwithstanding the above, and the often supercilious tone in which she writes, the book does have some very good material that makes it well worth exploring.

One of my favorite Droon books.......2006-06-30
I am eight years old; I've read a lot of Droon books, and I like this one in particular because it's got the Ancient Knights of Pim and Gethwing. It's different from the others because this is the first time that everyone in Eric's town have seen people from Droon - including wing snakes! My ratings of age are from 5 to maybe 20 or 30 years old. I gave it four stars because it is really exciting, really adventurous, and tense.
Thanks to my grandma for getting me the book
I Wish I Owned This Book!.......2006-04-13
I think that no other Droon book is like this one as the characters are all very strong, and it is the most adventurous.

A good book.......2006-08-01
The main character in this book is Ye Xian or CC (Chinese Cinderella). This story takes place during World War II in Shanghai, China.
One day CC's stepmother, Niang tries to strangle her and she bites Niang to free herself. CC is thrown out of her house by her father and she takes refuge at a kung fu academy. There, she meets Grandma Wu and three orphan boys, David, Marat, and Sam. CC decides to stay and live at the academy and learn kung fu.
In a secret alcove above the academy, CC learns that Grandma Wu, David, Marat, and Sam are in a Chinese Resistance group called the Secret Dragon Society. Grandma Wu asks her to join their group and rescue a group of stranded American pilots from a Japanese controlled island. After they rescue the pilots, CC makes a plan to save another group of American pilots and Marat's brother from a Japanese jail called Bridge House.
CC is successful at rescuing them and she saves the pilots from a horrible death. At the end of the book CC realizes how much family means to her and she decides to write a letter to her father asking his forgiveness.

Adeline, you have done a wonderful job!
This is one of the most moving books I have ever read. I was crying when I got to the bit where she was thrown out of the house.
This is a very wonderfully written novel.
It had funny parts and sad parts. You have taken me into the story and I felt as if I was actully CC.
Thank you for writing this fantastic story.
I hope there will be a sequel to this book.
Chinese Cinderella.......2005-06-17
I read Chinese Cinderella 2 years ago when I was 15 and until this day, it is still my favourite book. I've read many books but Chinese Cinderella is definitely the most prominent for it's depth. Adeline Yen Mah is a superb writer whose look on life is reflected in her work. Chinese Cinderella is a fantastic cultural piece which knocks down the boundaries of the stereotypical "caucasian" Cinderella. A book definitely worth reading regardless of how old you are. It evokes so much emotion that once you are finished you want to go back and read it all over again. Fantastic!

The Whim of the Dragon.......2006-05-18
The end of this book was terrible. The end of a series should be catacalismic for someone, but in this book everyone, even the bad guys, get what they want. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
The Secret: Each Book Gets Better.......2006-01-08
I originally picked up this trilogy because it looked interesting and the other reviewers raved about it. Chapters into the first book, I began to wonder why it was so beloved. More questions than answers swam across the page, drowning me in confusion and frustration. I felt thrown into a sea without a life preserver. The language was too archaic at times, and I constantly felt I was not being given enough information to process the storyline.
I felt like I was plowing through the book with an old, tired horse in a massive field full of rocks while the burning sun beat down from above. Being a complete-ist, however, I trudged on and picked up book #2. Halfway through, I pleasantly discovered that my horse was more spry, the rocks had disappeared from the field, and I was wearing a broad-rimmed hat. I was still plowing, but it wasn't nearly as painful. By book #3, I had a tractor, cool breeze, and lemonade in my hand. The work was no longer a chore but a welcome vacation I found thoroughly enjoyable.
I can hardly account for the transition, but it did happen. I recommend the trilogy to those who are not afraid to persevere in the beginning to achieve a great reward in the end.
Great news!.......2002-02-06
Review-wise, I can't really add much to those who have spoken before me (see below), but I can pass on that the series is to be reprinted starting in 2003! Great for those of us who were having problems finding all three books!
This book should not be out of print!.......2000-01-09
The Whim of the Dragon is the final book in an incredible series, and it lives up to the first two splendidly.
In this book the children are forced to grow up, to realize that their game really has affected other people's lives. They have to take responsibility for their Secret. Dean pulls no punches. The book is bittersweet; it made me cry and laugh together, not sure which emotion was in control.
Definitely one of the best things I've read. I would recommend it to everyone, but since it's unavailable that's not very useful. It's now almost impossible to find, a fact which I find frustrating to the point of tragedy.
Six stars!.......1999-07-22
_The Whim of the Dragon_ is the last book in the trilogy that begins with _The Secret Country_ and _The Hidden Land._ I cannot praise Pamela Dean's unique writing style highly enough. It sings. Magic and poetry are interwoven in a setting in which the mage's talent is essentially poetic; literary allusions, most commonly to Shakespeare, are everywhere. A superlative read for children and adults alike.

Customer Reviews:
Gave me tingles in church again ;).......2007-07-11
My priest was recanting during mass a couple of months ago, about how the great divide in the church isn't Catholic versus Protestant or Baptist, etc but the great divide is those who truly believe in the Supernatural and those who don't. This book had me feeling the tingles on my arms again at mass last week. You might think this book has nothing to do with the church, but for me, it's got me believing again. Can you imagine all the things possile if you truly believed like the characters in this book do ;)
I've found Shalex Beckwith, the only thing I've found by her is Gods or Monsters a neat title considering her family, the Clan, who are descendants from the Drakon race, may be good or may be evil, and one young woman's journey to find out the truth, to find the lost Gospel of Light. They have "mental" abilities or powers that they are born with, but without practice won't mature. Blending into modern society, those that remember, those that teach their children, those that practice can do what they believe in. Some can throw a person across the room, or located another Drakon with their mind, even talk to each other with their minds, melt snow with the heat of their hand or foot, for example.
It makes an interesting background for the twists in this love story. They even attend mass! The twist is they also have a rituals passed down through generations to match each one of the Seven Sacraments! They have to attend confession and have the soul cleansed! There are great examples between the church and witchcraft (but not witchcraft) and were all the misunderstandings probably came from. The church might say this is someone trying to paganize religion, but hey I'm Catholic and I celebrate Jesus' birth as well as Santa Claus with my children, does that make me a pagan all of a sudden? NO it doesn't and neither do I think these characters are pagan either. They simply acknowledge what their ancestors did, such as you might participate in Thanksgiving dinner, Santa Claus and the Easter bunny, while keeping faithful to the church. Maybe if the Church welcomed differences instead of being so quick as to reject them as heretics, maybe so many people wouldn't have dried up!
Though this author is fresh out of the duck pond, mind you. There may be an error here or there, but I quite enjoyed the actual story. I hope the author does a revision, because a story like this that can potentially link "the supernatural" part of the church that people have forgotten, back, is potentially life changing! This book has really made me think...
Not bad at all ;).......2007-06-11
Well I don't know anything about the Merovingian people or the law of attraction, but this was a pretty good book.
I enjoyed reading about the main character, Samantha, who seems to have as many conflicts growing into adulthood as I did, though her's are of a more magikal nature ;) I like that this is written from Samantha's point of view. I have not read a book like this before, and it was neat to be in her shoe's. To feel her heart break as she had to choose between devotion to her family and the one true love of her life. It was refreshing to relize that not everybody has the answers or that you don't have to have the answers, just be true to you. By the end of the story, I was left hoping, begging almost for Samantha to be able to just be true to herself and !&*^% everyone else.
~~~~~Just Buy It~~~~~.......2007-05-23
Anyone interested in the Merovingian Kings, the Dragon Bloodlines, or the Gospel of Judas will appreciate this heritage story told as a paranormal drama. It is also written in first person feminine... so if you are a guy, you may not be able to handle it ;) The thoughts of the main character flucuated between first person as the character and as the narrator, I personally like this style of writing. It reminds me of Quinten Tarantino.
The grammer's not terrible but you do notice an error here or there. If you are not troubled by it, you will love this book!!!
More grammatical errors than storyline.......2007-05-13
While this is a fairly good story line, I can't get past all the grammatical errors in this book. The person that edited this story should be fired. I think I am up to almost 15 pages where there is at least one very noticeable error on a page, if not more. One or two I can understand but this many is just a joke.
*****Enchanting and Spellbinding*****.......2007-04-29
Shalex Beckwith truly commits herself to this enthralling fantasy of the Dragon bloodlines whose family origins date back to the time of Jesus -mind you not Jesus himself ' Talents are passed down through bloodline and strengthened through practice as children are taught from puberty, and in rare cases birth, to manifest the energy from within oneself into the extraordinary powers that each family member possesses. Two of the family bloodlines are out of the picture at this time, with the other three families: the Clan 'Red', the Council 'Blue', and the Class 'Gold', running against each other and time as they search for lost artifacts from what seems to have once been a unified culture in the past. Taught in secrecy, these people have blended into society and continue to honor and defend his or her family quests with or without consequence. It would seem that once you are an accepted member, not just of the family, but have initiated into what once was and still is... that you are in for life.
If you understand how to use it, the book is wonderful.......2000-08-29
Being an educated DM I decided to use the book as a module instead of a guide. By turning my evil campaign against the magister it created a wonderful module for high level characters... I changed the rules alittle (as always) but it seem great and made a perfect exit for the players characters... All my players agreed that they enjoyed that adventure more than most others they had went through... Be creative... Many books can be used in multiple ways....
Great Great Book.......2000-08-02
In secrets of the magister it tells you if u look close enough how to be an invincible level 1 mage with all satas 25 and unlimeted wish spells. the invincibility comes with casting i think its a 6th level spell in an area described i the book and to get 720 wishes have the magister give u the ability to cast wish, just read closely and its all possable great book buy it.
Aspirations of a Mage.......2000-05-25
I bought this module and convinced my DM to allow my character a shot at becoming the Magister. After successfully attaining that high esteemed place, she was continuously was bombarded by mages attempting to destroy her (and thusly quickly raised herself to phenomenal strength). This module does not tell you how to role play the magister...it tells you what comes along with being the Magister, what you must do and a long history of the Magister. The people below seem to forget that Ed Greenwood created Forgotten Realms and whatever he says goes. Sure the Magister is a powerful person but wouldn't it take a more powerful mage to take her down? You see PCs who live long enough to reach high level should be rewarded with such honors and that is what this book is for. It is an excellent way to retire a mage who has done everything. The key to this module is how the DM uses it not what the module says.
Greenwood should write for children.......2000-05-06
Ed Greenwoods books all have the failing of perfect character syndrome, where we get to see a god-like character have paper-thin see-through "human problems". Gods have nothing better to do than hang around and chew the fat with his characters, etc.. This one is no different. In "secrets" spells are cast that don't exist, all kinds of effects that aren't even vaguely plausible in the context of F.Realms. take place. I promise this is the last one I'll read. Please god bring back Dark Sun!
Another arms-race supplement for the Realms.......2000-05-01
Though the concept of the Magister as a Highlander-for-magi "there can be only one" concept promises high adventure and danger, this book doesn't seem to live up to that. One might term the Magister an avatar of Mystra, although that would not quite be correct... it's more a position akin to a research professorship bequeathed by the ultimate Dean of Studies. Too much filler material, drawn with a broad brush and overly stereotyped - this book seems like it should have been a couple chapters in a larger text rather than padded out to fill its own volume.
I HIGHLY recommend all of the DROON series!.......2006-03-16
So far, my son and I have read most of the series and he always is eager to start the next book. Great in between series for kids that are younger but like a story with kids who beat the bad guys, save the day and have the magic and excitement without being too scary. I'd recommend it for any kids 8 to 10 or so and probably both boys and girls would enjoy the series since there are both boys and girls as characters, equally saving the day!
Search for the Dragon Ship.......2003-09-03
This book Search for the Dragon Ship by Tony Abbott is certainly one of the best Secrets of Droon books. There's more action, mystery, and adventure. The best part of this book to me is when Eric, Neal, Julie, find princess Salamandra. The part where there's the most action. The pictures are sketched nicely and the cover drawing is exellent. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because when you're reading from the start of the book, and finishing it all you do is just go around in circles. First check it out at the library, and if you like it, then buy it.
A fun book.......2003-04-25
This was a fun book, and if I had read it before reading King Fortis the Brave I might have given it five stars. But because I read it after finishing King Fortis, which was superior in many ways, the best I could do was four.
Still, that's not to say that this book does not have a lot going for it, and that Abbott isn't a very good writer. If you're looking for a young adult fantasy novel and you haven't read King Fortis yet, try that first. But if you've already read King Fortis the Brave and are looking for another good romp through a fantasy world, you can do a lot worse than this book!
Secret Book Review.......2007-04-26
This book I thought was a really adventouous and a great mystery. It is also a good If you like magic and mystery. It is great for kids because the main characters are kids and they go out trying to help there friend who has had his spirit stolen from a mysterios orb called the spiritkeeper. If you love advenures and love magic and mystery you will love this book.
OK, but not great........2007-02-16
Read this one with my kids. Slow and dry in parts. Being a long time D&D player, I had higher hopes. I wanted my kids to see the fun of RPGs and the varied world that comes with it...alas, this book barely kept them interestd.
Secret of the Spiritkeeper Book Review.......2006-04-14
This story is about the adventures of Kellach, Driskoll and their friend Moyra. It tells about the first of many adventures that they have. Kellach is a wizards apprentice . Driskoll wants a sword really bad. Moyra is a young thief who lives with her parents in a small rundown house. Kellach and Driskoll live in a big house because their dad is leader of the
watch. The watch is like the police. Kellach and Driskoll's mom was killed when the seal that connected their town to the dungeons of doom was broken. Tons and tons of demons and vicious wolves and goblins came through and killed tons of people including Kellach and Driskoll's mom. But if you want to find out more you will have to read the book.
I think the author is trying to tell the reader that you should take risks and have fun adventures. I know that this is the message because they take tons of risks and vary dangerous tasks and adventures. Like when they go into the dungeons of doom they could just turn back and forget it but no they go ahead anyway and search for Zendric's soul. They know their task and they are going to stick to it.
I like this book because it takes place in olden times when they used swords and because it has a little fantasy. I think you should read this book because it is very descriptive and definitely one of my favorites. I highly recommend it.
fun read.......2005-06-25
This is the first in a series fantasy novels for young readers ages 8-12. Separate authors write the books, and it will be interesting to see how the characters vary.
The first tale, Secret of the Spiritkeeper, is set in the village of Curston. Fourteen-year-old
Kellach is studying under the great wizard Zendric. He's not a bad apprentice, but lacks
confidence and the attention span needed. Also, Kellach is still so new to the world of wizardy
that he only knows a few baby spells, nothing that could get him into any trouble. Well, not
much anyway.
Kellach and his 12-year-old brother Driskoll are on their way home when they meet their good
friend Moyra. A band of half-orc is chasing Moyra. Kellach performs a little magic and
distracts the lead half-orc, Kruncher. Luckily for all three of them, they are out past curfew (a
time when not a soul travel the Curston street if they want to see daylight) and wind up in front
of Curston's magistrate, Lexos, who lets them off with a warning.
On the way to school the next morning, Kellach and Driskoll discover the body of the great
wizard Zendric. His body is there, but the Kellach notices that the globe he has been warned
against has disappeared. And inside the globe is Zendric's spirit. Kellach knows that if he, they,
can find the globe in time that they can return Zendric's soul and thereby restore Curston's most-
respected wizard.
What follows is the adventure the threesome has as they begin their search. Like their heroes, the
Knights of the Silver Dragon (an order long decimated during the Sundering of the Seal) the
little band they overcome many obstacles, acting brave when they much rather be at home
studying in front of the fire. Along the way they travel outside the city into the ruins of the old
city that meet with fortune hunters, enter the old city and climb into the Dungeons of Doom
where they meet such creatures as an owlbear, goblins and the goblin-king and zombies.
It's a rip-roaring tale that is sure to delight anyone who reads it. Secret of the Spiritkeeper
reminded me a little of Harry Potter. And although I'm probably the only person on the planet
who doesn't like Harry, I did get a kick out of Kellach, Driskoll, and Moyra. They were more
human and seemed more age appropriate.
Secret of the Spiritkeeper is a self-contained novel that doesn't require a commitment to the other
three novels in the series to enjoy this one. In fact, that's probably the biggest drawback of this
book. There's no need to read further. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see if the little
band can reconstruct a real Knight of the Silver Dragon origination.
