Even more action and suspense..........2007-06-19
Thirteen year-old James Bond is pulled into another adventure. This time, James stumbles upon a dangerous secret society at his own school. When his teacher and some of his classmates decide to visit Sardinia over a break, James tags along. He has a nearly takes a fatal fall at their archeological dig site, and James suspects one of his professors. James then leaves his group to stay with his uncle who lives nearby. But danger soon follows, and James discovers a conspiracy involving the secret society, pirates, and a power-hungry monarch.
In this second Young Bond adventure, there is even more action and suspense. Blood Fever definitely has the feel of a true James Bond story. James gets captured, (mildly) tortured, and even has a girl to save. Higson has done a wonderful job of staying true to Bond's character, while making him a much more innocent young man. And the secondary characters are remarkably vivid and exciting. Both children and adults who love action and adventure will love this series.

Blood Fever
By: Charlie Higson
The main character in the story is James Bond and he is a boy who is adventurous and likes to be sneaky at school. He also likes to be in secret clubs like the danger club.
When James Bond goes on a field trip he is on a exploration with a friend from school and on the trip with enemies. He encounters a group of men and gets knocked out. He also meets a big criminal who wants to kill him and watch him suffer.
The setting of the story is in a school, in a carnival, in a mansion and they were all in the middle east.
The theme was about bravery, greed, and death. The story was about bravery because James had to be brave to save the girl that was trapped. It was about greed because two big criminals were fighting for a big treasure. The story was about death because one of James's friends died and that was very big for James.
I liked the story because I like action and adventure type books and this book is very good and once I started reading I couldn't stop. Another reason I liked the book is because it had some parts that were very sad witch quickly changed into anger.
IF you like action or adventure I would suggest you read Young Bond Book #3: Double or Die
Another exciting adventure for Young Bond.......2007-02-11
Once again, Charlie Higson has written an action packed adventure that will have tween readers talking! We purchased this one after reading Silverfin and it did not disappoint. The action is a little more intense in the sequel and young James attracts some female attention this time. (C'mon, moms - you knew it had to happen sooner or later!) Even so, it was still within reason for my 10 year old and his friends. We are looking forward to many more installments in the Young James Bond series.

Bad Vampire Mafia storyline.......2007-08-08
I bought the trade size version on super clearance at Amazon. After blowing through it, I can understand why it was so dirt cheap. I could not stand this book.
The book was about vampire mafias fighting over territory.
Raphael is the Texas vampire leader, replete w/ human and vampire body guards because of the multiple assassination attempts; he's also involved in some sort of Trust fund, that I had trouble understanding.
Grania is a new veterinarian hired and meets Raphael the director of the Trust fund for the first time. Raphael resembles the man she has always dreamed of, but he doesn't recognize her at all. When Grania catches Raphael in a compromising encounter feeding off another woman, the cat is out of the bag and she knows what Raphael is. When he begins to keep an eye on her just in case she may publicize her discovery, they both begin to feel a sort of bond between them. Raphael does not comprehend the bond, but Grania thinks it may have to do w/ her dreams.
The dreams were the only scenes in the book that were some what interesting, but I just could not get into any of the characters as they were cookie cutter like. Nor was the book particularly sensual. Frankly, I'm shocked that Berkley is not making this book a mass paperback edition. I do not intend to buy any Diane Whiteside vampire books in the future.
Review from Japan.......2007-05-13
Bond of Blood is an excellent book that contains every aspects of a thriller, a paranormal, and a romance.
The characters have enough human qualities, such as love, greed, and revenge while the vampire and were parts of their persona are more than facinating. The sex is shocking but loving between Don Rafael and Grania. The background characters are essential to the book and I can't wait for the sequels.
The use of Spanish and French is well placed in the dialouge. The languages never go beyond a high school class and there is even a glossary of terms at the end of the book.
I recommend this book easily to all.
A Sexy Vampire Read!.......2007-01-31
Don Rafael Perez has lived a lifetime...seven hundred years of a lifetime to be precise and during this time he has worked up from being a vampire slave to being the ruler of one of the largest "areas" in the United States. His rule has been absolute until now. Now his enemy is making a bid for his dominion and that would be enough to keep Rafael busy enough. But then Grania O'Malley enters the picture. Grania is a mortal but she is trouble with a capital "T." She has no idea that she shares a bond with a seven hundred year old vampire. Rafael doesn't trust what it between them yet he can't stay away even though it would be safer for Grania if he did. Can Rafael safe the woman destined to be his mate and still retain his rule in North America?
This is the first full length effort by Ms. Whiteside for her Texas Vampire series. There are going to be two more titles to follow. There is plenty of heat found between the pages between Rafe and his Grania. This is a very strong character driven romance with plenty of paranormal elements balancing out the read. Rafe is not you common everyday vampire and his sensuality is almost a character in an of itself. The reader will find that Ms. Whiteside's vampires are very unique and as a result fresh when compared to other authors in the hugely popular market. Grania is a perfect mate for Rafe. This is really a story about star-crossed lovers. I eagerly devoured this effort and anxiously await the rest of this series. Rafe and Grania will capture the reader's attention from the start. Be prepared for a heated and sexy read! Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
No problem with language here!.......2006-12-31
This was my first venture into paranormal erotica/romance, and despite my busy schedule, I could not put this book down at night! I really liked the pychological twists with the good vs. bad vampires. Hey, haven't we all met our share of the bad vampires? And the thought of a noble vampire with paranormal sexual/romantic abilities sounds good to me! As for the complaints above of the foreign languange peppering, I liked it. I don't speak Spanish, but I can spot erotica and sweet-talk in any tongue, especially in obvious context. I do know a little basic Latin and enjoyed the characters from an era when Latin was the religous language actually using Latin, and it wasn't all that much or often to overlook for those who like their religion in English, even from a time when it was always in Latin. It was a learning experience, with all the levels of vampires. I look forward to the rest of the trilogy!
Add another author to the brand name list to buy :-).......2006-12-20
It's been a pleasure to follow this author through all her books as her writing continues to grow and deepen. This jump into the crowded paranormal field is a good one, but there are some serious writing decisions that cloud the story. First, the sensual scenes, while deeply emotional, become circular and repetitive. Secondly, the writer chooses to interject French, Spanish and Arabic phrases into the text and while--sometimes--you can figure out the meaning from context, much of the time
the four page glossary in the back of the book is required. Some of the Arabic words are so unusual looking they stop the story dead while you marvel at the collection of letters and then the meaning. Still this is a start of a great series and worth the purchase.

Young Bond Will Return.......2007-05-29
"Blood Fever" is an all-around good book. As opposed to "Silverfin."
Don't get me wrong. "Silverfin", Charlie Higson's first entry in the Young James Bond series, was a solid first entry, and showed great potential for the rest of the series. But "Blood Fever" fully capitalizes on that potential. It's more genuinely suspenseful, more clever and humorous, more well-written in general, and better in every other conceivable way. Plus it has a higher body count. However, just like "Silverfin", "Blood Fever" requires the reader's indulgence. In order to enjoy either book, you have to be interested in the exploits of James Bond at age thirteen.
"Silverfin" was entertaining, but it was filled with several cheesy moments. "Blood Fever" is much more cleverly written, especially in regard to the "prequel" moments in regard to James' future. These play tribute to Ian Fleming's original novels, and, consequentially, to the movies they inspired. While they're more plentiful in "Blood Fever" than "Silverfin", they're also much more subtle and intelligently placed. To give some examples here would ruin the fun, but I will say that Fleming's recurring motifs of the number 7 and the "octopussy" are prevalent throughout the book.
The plot of "Bloodfever" is much more complex than "Silverfin", with too many twists and turns to explain here. But basically, the book starts with the abduction of a young blonde named Amy Goodenough and the murder of her father by the pirate Zoltan. Meanwhile, the teenage James Bond is studying at Eton when he discovers the workings of a secret society on campus. The paths of James, Amy, and Zoltan, as well as a megalomaniac named Ugo Carnifex with designs on world domination, cross on a field trip to Sardinia. James encounters several grotesque baddies that could give Oddjob and Jaws a run for their money, as well as frighteningly realistic scene in which James in nearly eaten alive by a swarm of mosquitoes, so well written it will probably make you itch. This all climaxes in what's probably the coolest villain death in all of Bond history.
In my review for "Silverfin", I mentioned that James could sometimes be substituted with any other young adventure hero. Not so in "Blood Fever." This young James has all of the traits of the James Bond we know and love. He gets all of the latest technology, but in a much more realistic way. For example, it's the 1930's, and James manages to get his hands on one of the first ever scuba suits. Also, James causes not one but two women to go completely gaa-gaa over him: Amy Goodenough and a young Italian girl named Vendetta.
One of the few flaws that occurred in both Young Bond novels is that Charlie Higson introduces too many characters to give them all the amount of "screen time" they deserve. The main "Bond villain", Ugo Carnifex, and "Bond girls" in particular get too little attention, especially the character of Amy Goodenough. Since Bond's enemies and loves have always played major roles in his adventures, you expect them to be better treated her. However, the characters Charlie Higson does focus on are very well-written. The character of Zoltan the pirate is especially interesting. He walks the fine line between being an enemy and an ally to James, and he's lovable and despicable, sometimes at the same time. Also, there were a couple of twists I could see coming a mile away, but I suspect other readers, young readers especially, will be thoroughly baffled.
"Blood Fever" fully capitalizes on the potential of its subject. Now, I wait with baited breath for the U. S. release of "Double or Die", the next book in the series.
Awesome!.......2007-05-20
Pretty good story, and we find out what makes Bond ticks. A must for Alex Rider fans!!!
Fantastic book (but not illustrated as listing suggests).......2007-03-27
I gave this second Young Bond book a glowing review as a hardcover ("A More Mature Young Bond") and a year later my opinion remains firm. This is a terrific book, and it's the Young Bond novel I would recommend to adult James Bond fans who want to sample this series. Trust me, you will be hooked.
The reason I'm here again is to let everyone to know that, despite TK being listed as an illustrator, this paperback edition is not illustrated. It's pretty much identical to the hardcover edition, including the cover art by Kev Walker. Why online retailers are listing an illustrator is a mystery to me. (I've submitted a correction to Amazon.)
Enjoy.

Good.......2006-11-26
It was avery good book overral as you can see I gave it four stars and it had a good story, lots of action and left you hanging sometimes but it was good. The WORST problem with this book was that there were so many ERRORS. One part in the book had three pages copied again in the book so it was like pages 1 and 2 were exactly the same as 3 and 4. Also, there were quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. I can't think of any right now but there were. Also, it was kind of annoying how the author always said "blood brothers" and he said it like every time he mentioned Matt and Sam. He almost NEVER used just brothers ,so that was annoying having to read "blood brothers" like every other sentence. But it was good.

Two Wolves.......2007-01-30
This book is about 2 blood brothers named Sam Two Wolves and Matt Bodline who fine themselves in a fight for their lives. Snake Creek is a small Texas town ruled by a fierce man known as King Petty. Matt Bodline and Sam two wolves bcame blood brothers on the day the ranchers son saved the hafbreed's life. When the law stepped out, these boys stepped in.
I enjoyed this book while reading because it it an action filled book with tons of fighting, love, and mysteries. The young beautiful women has feelings for Sam and his actions for how he reacted on the street against King petty. The reason I recommend this book for you is that if you enjoy western shooting books, then you will enjoy reading this book written by William W. Johnstone. This book contains shooting, violence of course, and romance. This book is an alright book, its not the greatest western book you will ever read. I'm just saying that its a start if you know what I mean. Its not a boring book unless you don't enjoy reading western books at all. I believe that its the perfect book for most of you to read. Death in Snake Creek is by the far the best western book I've read so far. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the word diction of the novel and the way the story goes. Matt Bodline and Sam two wolves are perfect characters for the story. King Petty has that perfect atittude for a villian. I hope you choose this book to read because its the perfect book.

A book to whet one's appetite for the whole series........2006-11-03
Having enjoyed the mountain man series and the last gunfighter series I came across this book first in the library: it certainly whetted my appetite to go on and read the whole series. Sam and Matt are involved in a classic situation between sheepmen and cattlemen and, as is their wont, come in on the side of the underdogs even though they are cattle men themselves.

Book Description
All Our Relations moves beyond the patriarchal household to investigate the complex, meaningful connections among siblings and kin in early America. Taking South Carolina as a case study, Lorri Glover challenges deeply held assumptions about family, gender, and cultural values in the eighteenth century. Brothers, sisters, and the extended family formed the foundation on which South Carolina gentry built their emotional and social worlds. Adopting a cooperative, interdependent attitude and paying little attention to gendered notions of power, siblings and kin served one another as surrogate parents, mentors, friends, confidants, and lifelong allies. Elite women and men simultaneously used those family connections to advance their interests at the expense of unrelated rivals.
In the course of charting the emotional and practical dimensions of these sibling bonds, Glover provides new insights into the creation of class, the power of patriarchy, the subordination of women, and the pervasiveness of deference in early America. Blood ties, she finds, affected courtship, marriage choices, approaches to child rearing, economic strategies, and business transactions. All Our Relations challenges the historical understanding of what family meant and what families did in the past. The families Glover uncovers, often fragmented but fiercely loyal, seem at once starkly different from and surprisingly similar to our own.

Another series in the author's usual high standard........2006-11-03
I enjoyed this book and was set to wondering if the author was going to cross link this series with the mountain man series when Smoke Jenson was mentioned and when they linked up with a man who knew him. It didn't happen. One wonders if one day (how many books in the future) it will.
Blood Bond- Brotherhood of the Gun........2006-02-28
Brotherhood of the Gun is the 2nd book using William W Johnston's two latest charactors and a most exciting tale, framed in the Arizona Territory during the Apache Wars.
An excellent read for any lover of the old west.
Blood Bond.......2006-02-28
William W Johnston is one of my all time favorite authors and he has introduced two new story charactors in this book and carries them thru a very exciting tale of the old west, with focus on the Great Indian Wars of the 1870s on the great plains of Wyoming and Montana.
Excellent read since it delves into actual history.
Blood Bond.......2006-01-14
William W. Johnstone has done it again. He has created a new set of characters to rate right up next to Smoke and Preacher. But this Blood Bond is of a different type than the two legendary mountain men, these are blood brothers. Two men, from two different worlds brought together through a bond of trust, and curiosity of each others ways. Matt Bodine, a son of a frontier rancher's family, and Samuel Two Wolves, an Eastern educated son of a Cheyenne War Chief and a White aristocrat. These men have a close, yet volatile kinship. Both are torn between feelings of respect for the "old ways" and the certain knowledge that those ways cannot survive the oncoming settlement of the West.
A must for any Johnstone diehard. You will ride trails these men have ridden, and share in the kinship that they feel for each other. Well written, with strong character development. You will look forward to each new adventure these two brothers share in their, Blood Bond.
