Book Description
Some Christians believe strongly in the existence of demons and spiritual warfare. Others downplay or even ignore the idea. With such divergent views, how are Christians supposed to know the truth about demonic forces at work in this world? Satanic attacks are very real, and this book will examine what every believer needs to know about Satan, demons, and spiritual warfare. Available in both a cloth edition and on an audio CD, this provocative book will help Christians understand what the Bible says about these threats and will show them how they can safeguard themselves and their families through prayer. The Invisible War, by popular author Chip Ingram, offers a balanced look at what is going on in the spiritual realm and what believers can do to defend themselves.

Vital Teaching For Christians Who Want To Be Awake!.......2007-04-12
Chips Testimonies about Spiritual Warfare and Conflict Will prove Familiar to many Christians. Just because the battle is virtually Invisible does not mean that its effects/shockwaves will not be felt in the Natural. No the Power that rest with True Believers. For God even says that my people perish,
because they don't know (my paraphrase)
The 5 ft little bully with meaness & attitude picks on the 6'2" bigger kid because the bigger kid does not know his muscles can squash the little guy.
We have all seen it, and the enemny seeks to do the same to us.

very good resource book.......2007-04-04
Lots of insight in regard to spiritual warfare. A must have book.
"The Invisible War" gives you .....The Visible Answers!.......2007-02-16
One of the greatest misconceptions in the Christian walk is that once we become a Christian..life should just be, "easier, better, etc." Not so, Jesus promised us in John 17:33 that we will have MANY trials and sorrows..but HE has overcome them all. The "Invisible War" explains the Truth about our daily struggles. They are NOT what they appear to be on the surface...there is a greater battle taking place and if you are not familiar with the battlefield, the enemy and his tactics, and the weapons of warfare...you are going to lose the daily fight. We are taught ALL through out Scripture that we are in a "fight of faith" I am a HUGE fan of Chip Ingram...I only wish he had MORE books published! He is a fantastic writer and teacher of the Word. He is annointed in amazing ways and He speaks right to the heart of an issue. This book is no exception to Mr. Ingram's fantastic annointing. If you desire to walk in Victory, daily...you must read this book.
Balanced and Biblical.......2007-01-12
I found this book to be a helpful addition to the subject of spiritual warfare. Illustrative stories helped to explain the principles explained, and the ongoing conflict of the Kingdom of Light with the kingdom of darkness and our role in it is clearly explained. For more advanced study, I would recommend Ed Murphy's Handbook of Spiritual Warfare.
Fantastic!.......2007-01-11
This book is for all Christians, especially those in mainstream or evangelical churches. This teaches in "non-yahoo" ways about the reality of demons in the spirit world, and gives excellent teaching and examples from the author's life. The author does not come across as a charismatic and I would say that he is not. Yet this book could have been written by any of the leading charismatics due to its theology. It brings the subject matter of spiritual warfare from religious teaching to a warning call to all believers that there is an enemy out there and here is how he operates. I originally got my copy of this book from the author at a convention. I have since bought maybe 10 copies (all from Amazon) to give to friends. If you want a book about spiritual warfare that will present it in terms for any Christian - especially those who may be ignorant of it all - then this is the eye-opening book to read and give.
Book Description
The battle is real, and you are involved whether you like it or not.The Bible plainly tells us that Satan schemes against us, that he wants to devour us, and that we struggle-not against the usual human enemies-but against Satan's highly organized kingdom. This battle will not go away. Ignoring it could be disastrous. But don't be afraid. Your victory is already won! No enemy-not even Satan-is strong enough to overcome the God that lives in you. Now it's your responsibility to claim the victory. Here at last is a practical handbook that has proven itself in the field of spiritual warfare. Learn the answers to such questions as: What is Satan's strategy in spiritual warfare? Can a Christian be oppressed by demons? Can demonic affliction be passed down through family lines? What are the symptoms of demonic activity in a person's life? This best-seller will help you aggressively plan your triumph by relying on the almighty and powerful Word of God.
Customer Reviews:
Taught Me to Pray!.......2007-03-29
I first read this book in mid-1978 as a brand new Christian. As I read the doctrinal prayers in it, the Lord taught me to pray the Word of God, taught me my position in Christ, and brought me into a depth of understanding of my Christian faith that most Christians don't reach for 20 years. Because of this book and it's author, Dr. Mark Bubeck, I became committed to praying the Scriptures. Seventeen years later I wrote, PRAYING IN THE WORD OF GOD: Advancing Christ's Kingdom, a Scripture based prayer guide that enables every Christian to pray for all the will of God. I can't recommend THE ADVERSARY highly enough! If you do nothing else but read Dr. Bubeck's prayers it will change your life!
Decent Treatment of Spiritual Warfare.......2004-04-30
This title is a fairly easy read, but was rather disappointing in its treatment of spiritual warfare. While the author avoids the excesses of Pentecostalism and emotionalism that are so often associated with spiritual warfare, he places too much emphasis on the adversary and not enough emphasis on the Conqueror of the adversary. The book is also rather dated.
"Disciplined Warriors" by Chuck Lawless is a much better, much more helpful volume on this subject. In short, Bubeck is good, Lawless is better.
Excellent Bible-Based Study.......2001-10-24
This book is not about sensationalism and "demon" stories. In fact, the author strongly warns against such harmful interest in the occult. The Adversary is a totally Biblically-based study on "the world, the flesh and the devil" as revealed in Scripture. It focuses on the balance Christians should have between having an awareness of Satan and his schemes, while not giving him any glory by focusing more on him and his power than on his total defeat on the Cross. This is an excellent book regarding the authority of the believer. Christians need to know what the Bible says regarding this Enemy, so that we will not give place to him in any way. Praise the Lord for the victory He has already won!
Warfare Basics.......2000-09-15
If there was one quick book you wanted to read on the subject of Spiritual Warfare, this would be it. It is to the point on most issues and easy to read. There are several great examples of types of warfare prayers and lists of what to look for as far as spiritual oppression. All in all a must for anyone who feels led to this ministry.
Dry Demonology.......2000-03-28
It's hard to believe that a book by a fundamentalist Christian about the Devil could be this dull. Usually the field of Satan-sniffing produces works filled with amusement, even hilarity, and massive evidence of human credulity. This book has only a vast vast number of Bible verses and a few anecdotes so un-lurid that they wouldn't even interest Pastor Fletcher Brothers on a dull day. It does, however, provide a good groundwork for understanding the philosophical basis of the fundy attitude towards demons - if you happen to care.
Book Description
From Scripture and her own experience, powerful teaching on finding freedom in Christ from demonic oppression by overcoming strongholds.
Customer Reviews:
Victory over strongholds and strongmen!.......2007-06-10
This is an intensely practical, very valuable guide to spiritual warfare. The Lord Jesus Christ has given us the power to overcome all the attacks of the enemy! Demolishing strongholds means you have to repent of your sins (or overcome the curse against you) which allowed access to your life and then go after the strongman. But many make the mistake of not recognizing that there are other spirits of bondage connected with the strongman which make him even stronger. (This book gives detailed lists of these associated with common strongmen.) The author directs the reader to bind the strongman, cast out the other spirts, THEN cast out the strongman. She includes prayers to use, stories of victorious battles, and her own personal experience. Even if you don't believe in demon deliverance, think of this book as a way of using truth encounters to confront strongholds and what kinds of strongholds tend to happen together.
great.......2007-02-07
The book came very quickly and was in excellent condition. And to top it off the book was great.
The Keys to Freedom.......2006-12-06
The book is the ultimate handbook for deliverance ministry. The keys to identifying and breaking off demonic strongholds are identified clearly. As this life is a battlefield, then this book is a war room strategy guide. This book brought me immense help in identifying how demons work to intimidate and harass people, and how to fight on their behalf. As usual, this author has taken a complex subject and put it into simple, concrete terms. Indispensible reference book for anyone serious about setting others free.
A practical guide your library needs.......2006-12-05
If you are like most Christians, you have times when you may feel "hemmed in" by something that isn't readily explainable.Other times you may lack the freedom in Christ that you have had in times past. Delivering the Captives is a well written practical guide to deal with issues before they get a foothold in your life. This is a book every library needs to have, and hopefully the reader will review from time to time. It is a very compatible book with the author's Beyond the Lie. Though the specific issues may be differerent, both of these books deal with life isssues that affect our functioning ability. Make no mistake about it, the strongman will do his best to defeat you quickly or with a slow burn. With God's help we can be victorious.
Freedom.......2006-11-08
This is a great "how to" book with amazing stories about everyday people who experience relief and freedom from fears, tormenting thoughts, addictions and overpowering sinful habits by resisting sin and evil through drawing near to God. Salvation, personal freedom and deliverance from demonic spirits, is the work of Jesus in and through our lives.
Alice Smith in "Delivering The Captives" shares how we can obtain personal freedom and effectively help others with their greatest struggles and pain. "Delivering The Captives" renews our faith that the love and power of God is more than enough to live changed lives and experience God's peace.
Debbie Walker, Houston, TX.
Book Description
This sumptuously illustrated volume analyzes artists' representations of angels and demons and heaven and hell from the Judeo-Christian tradition and describes how these artistic portrayals evolved over time. As with other books in the Guide to Imagery series, the goal of this volume is to
help contemporary art enthusiasts decode the symbolic meanings in the great masterworks of Western Art.
The first chapter traces the development of images of the Creation and the Afterworld from descriptions of them in the Scriptures through their evolution in later literary and philosophical works. The following two chapters examine artists' depictions of the two paths that humans may take, the path
of evil or the path of salvation, and the punishments or rewards found on each. A chapter on the Judgment Day and the end of the world explores portrayals of the mysterious worlds between life and death and in the afterlife. Finally, the author looks at images of angelic and demonic beings
themselves and how they came to be portrayed with the physical attributes--wings, halos, horns, and cloven hooves--with which we are now so familiar.
Thoroughly researched by and expert in the field of iconography, Angels and Demons in Art will delight readers with an interest in art or religious symbolism.
Customer Reviews:
Over-rated.......2007-08-28
While this is an interesting compilation of angels and demons in art, it is incomplete. There are several key pieces of art that are completely missing and deemed not worthy of mentioning by the author or editors.
The images are poorly reproduced, and so small as to leave me wondering if I was able to interperet the art for myself, or just left be told what I'm supposed to think it means. The orginization of the chapters is well done, even though it roughly follows the biblical presentation of such.
Within seconds of opening the cover, I felt as if it was writing down to the reader. The inane descriptors targeting key points in the presented art work are reminiscent of a children's television show presenting colours and alphabet to pre-school children.
If you are looking for a Cliff's notes book for art interpretation, or a religious education course, this might be a passable resource for one term paper or reference for further research. I personally wouldn't use it as a resource for teaching or writing beyond those means.
Angels and Demons in Art.......2007-03-10
I first checked this book out at the library. No special reason. I was captivated by the wonderful descriptions of paintings that I had not seen before. Except maybe many years ago in Art history classes. I so loved the book that I purchased it!!! I also ordered another one in the Guide to Imagery series sight unseen.
Perfect!.......2006-06-21
If there was a review higher than five stars, this book should get it! The cover alone deserves five stars! This book is the single most perfect book I've seen on angels! It's wonderful! The artwork, the explanations of the different categories of angels; it's all perfect! If you're interested in angels, this is a must have for any collection!

Devils and Demons and the reurn of the Nephilim.......2007-08-28
This is an excellent book. If you want to know more about how Gods Covenants go along with Jewish traditions this is a must. A lot of reserch went into this book. Don't let the title fool you. It is truth and must read. It keeps yo interested to the end. You will want to read it again
I'm Ready For Book Two!.......2007-08-08
I read this book just last year, and I learned a lot. I wish they'd hurry and get the second book out, though. I mean, we're in the end times NOW, and things are just going to get worse as time goes by. We all need to prepare for Christ's Second Coming, and we need to do it quickly because one never knows; He could come tomorrow, next month, next year, whenever. Book two is supposed to focus more on the Book of Revelation, and I really cannot wait to see what is said in it. I hope that when people read this book (Book One), that they feel they have a better understanding of the Bible and the Book of Revelation. Please Mr. Kline and Mr. Spears, get the next book out as soon as possible; we need it.
Devils and Demons and the Return of the Nephilim.......2007-06-04
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought the authors did a very good job and even touched on some subjects that I myself recognized and they expanded on it even farther. It only has one chapter on Demons and Nephilim, which I regretted and they keep mentioning a second book which is disconcerting as it alludes to having even more information on the subject of Demons and Nephilim. I hope they do produce it.
On a seriouse note- I do feel they are in error as far as there not actually being a new covenant!! Please read Hebrews 9:15 +/- all of chapter 9 talks on the subject of the old and new covenant and that Crist died for the new to be accessable to us.
Lucifer.......2007-05-13
I purchased this book to learn more of the Fall of the Angels. My perception differs from the author's as to the reason for all the turmoil in the World. I don't know that I believe in Nephilim and their giant spawn, but I do believe in Lucifer.
Devils and Demons and the return of the Nephilim.......2007-01-23
Very disapointing! Too much off topic information. It has only some information on devils, demons and the nephilim, and nothing at all on the return of the nephilim. Strange when you consider the title. I do not feel good about this purchase or the misleading reviews.
PS. I don't know why "Son of Bigfoot" shows up on my reviewer name.
Book Description
Though Satan has no right to rule in a believer's life, he can subtly build a stronghold--brick by brick, layer by layer--until he is a dominating force in your life. Mark Bubeck asserts that spiritual warfare requires careful preparation, biblical obedience, and persistent prayer. The Adversary prowls, but he's already been beaten...An essential follow-up to the bestselling The Adversary, Bubeck helps Christians grasp prayer practices that enable a victorious walk. Building on the practical instruction of The Adversary, this book shares examples of demonic activity and carries you through the perils and challenges of spiritual warfare. The author focuses on four weapons needed to wage the battle against the Adversary.
Customer Reviews:
Much Better than the First Volume.......2004-06-01
This sequel to Bubeck's book "The Adversary" is much better in quality and content than the first volume. The bulk of this work focuses upon the armor of God as described in Ephesians 6, and upon what it means to wear that armor in daily life. I've read numerous treatments of the armor of God, and the explanation given here is certainly among the best. For anyone wanting practical tips and insight on spiritual warfare, this title is by all means a very good investment.
THE POWER OF GOD'S TRUTH TO FREE US.......2003-02-13
This was a life changing book for me. Far from being a sensationalistic book about demons etc, the focus is on Jesus Christ and God's truth as revealed in the Bible. While reading it, I understood for the first time that I needn't be subject to the emotional-spiritual-psychological baggage of my past. God's Truth is "true" and His character doesn't change. He is reliable in spite of the emotional "reality" to which we are subject at a particular time in life. Through knowing that truth, we gain a perspective of life and reality which puts all else into true perspective. He addresses satan as a real adversary, yet makes it clear that he, too, is subject to God's truth. I thank God for Bubeck and the work he composed. Highly recommended.
Beating the beast on his home court.......2000-06-19
This should be a fundamental resource in any Christian's library. The fact that people who glorify witchcraft and satanism give it one star on Amazon should be a clue. Satan is concerned about this book because it is clear, simple, and exciting. It's a classic. It is perfect for building a solid foundation in a society that rejects the beauty and love of Christ. And it's cautionary, exposing the results of following a very real Satan.
Warfare praying against our spiritual enemies.......1999-04-30
This is an easily read book that teaches the reader how to go on the offensive in spiritual warfare. Using suitable examples of praying against the enemy and directly confronting the enemy (whether for ones-self of as an intercessor for another) There is also an excellent section on praying to reaffirm our allegience to God. Although these examples are either general or directly specific to a situation that is used as an illustration, one can quickly learn how to formulate either prayers or confrontational statements that are very effective. Of course it is important to be in a real living relationship with the risen Christ. These are not magic spells for controlling demons.
Book Description
Here is the story of how evil has been conceived embraced, and combatted over time, including the rise and fall of black magicians, astrology, spiritualism and more.
Customer Reviews:
Save your $$$.......2002-10-12
First off let me state that this book should have been named
"The anything BUT complete book of Devils and Demons".
Actually it has very little to do with Devils, Demons or anything of the like, this is just another one of those books that handles this fascinating subject in the uptight biased wore out judeo/christian manner that i for one am quite tired of, the author if we dare to call him that obviously wrote this book for a fast buck, i havnt read any of his other books and since reading this one i have no intention on doing so. His style is enough to give A person of even the strongest constitution a vein bulging headache. Like the title says, do your self a favor and save your $$$ for something more accurate and fulfilling.
An Utter Mess.......2000-11-13
From its misleading title--this volume is rather slender given its claim for being "complete"--to its lack of bibliographic notes and historical and factual unreliability, Ashley's tome is an utter mess. Poorly written and organized, with only a three-page index, this is a book that cannot be taken seriously. "Devils and Demons," in fact, seems like a haphazard collection of the author's notes on interesting trivia he happened to bounce on, without bothering to reexamine his sources or concern himself with the formalities of English grammar. For example, in his brief discussion of C.S. Lewis's "Screwtape Letters," Ashley describes Lewis's book as "a delightful collection of business communications between a minor devil called Screwtape and his boss," evidently forgetting that Screwtape was a "major" devil corresponding to his underling nephew, Wormwood, as anyone even slightly familiar with the literature of fictional demonology knows. Such sloppy errors that are sprinkled through Ashley's work brings the subject down to the level of tabloid journalism, and with the same level of reliability. The reader would best be served by searching for other, more scholarly books which are abundant in this peculiar area of study, such as the "Compendium Maleficarum" or Robbins' "Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology." But "The Complete Book of Devils and Demons" is a complete waste of dead trees.
A Sophomoric treatment of an Interesting subject.......2000-11-10
Leonard Ashley's pathetic excuse of designing this book for the "sound bite" and "limited attention span" generation is an insult and affront to his readers.
The book is nothing but a mish-mash and mosaic of information culled from the Internet that the author has so carelessly put together.
For beginners and the uninitiated- this might briefly prove interesting- but in general- this book is a sleeping pill in disguise.
Fascinating but hard to follow.......2000-08-20
The book is a good reference point for those looking into this subject for the first time. While the author provides a lot of information, her style in presenting it leaves something to be desired. The book format is put together in such a way that it makes it difficult for the reader to follow. There are also a lot of errors in grammar like misspelled words and run-on sentences. It seems the author would have noticed this, but I guess he was in a hurry. If you can live with the format then you may want to check it out. However, you may want to try "Encyclopedia of Hell" by Miriam Van Scott.
Ignorant, frivolous treatment of a fascinating subject.......2000-08-05
What a shame Leonard Ashley (who has no doubt spent some time looking into his subject) is unable to string an intelligent sentence together. This ridiculously pedestrian book demeans the fascinating subject of demonology through a nauseous trail of sloppy ideas, puerile humour and incongruous, misplaced anecdotes. A work of zero interest to even the most unsophisticated of students.

Secrets of success from everyone's favorite demon, Screwtape, on how human souls most often stumble.
Customer Reviews:
Paved with Profiteering Intentions.......2006-11-07
Beware of "new" books by authors who passed away in the 60s. Lewis' tireless literary executor and editor, Walter Hooper, incessantly repackages Lewis' writings and markets them as new books. Recombining and repackaging for new audiences is warranted under some circumstances. But why abridge "The Screwtape Letters," which weighed in at a scant 160 pages to begin with? Buy the original; "Paved with Good Intentions" is not.
Read the Real Book.......2006-07-28
This is just a cheap quick money making scheme by publishers. They took a few excerpts from the Screwtape letters and called it a new book. For the same amount of money and sometimes less you could get the real complete book. Don't waste your time with this wasteful volume.

Devilishly Delightful Illustrated Reference Work.......2005-04-14
This book is not meant to be an introduction to Wicca or a history of witchcraft and demonology. It's intended purpose is simply to provide an illustrated reference work primarily for historians, teachers, artists, craftsman, and authors working in the area of witchcraft and demonology.
That being said, the book is divided into twelve chapters, each dealing with various aspects of witchcraft, death, demons, and the occult and providing a plentiful cornucopia of illustrations, woodcuts, copperplates, and artwork representative of the subject at hand. The works of Durer, Dore, and others appear together with illustrations from such famous demonological works such as Colin De Plancy's "Dictionnarie Infernal" and Francesco Maria Guazzo's "Compendium Maleficarum" as well as countless others from ancient to modern times.
This is a first class illustrated reference book and will be useful to any number of those interested in the history of illustration of the Dark Arts.
Not What I was looking for but...........2003-07-07
Its great to see history about witchcraft and deamons and so on. Some of the pictures are somewhat disturbing and yet understandable where and how the ignorance of the 16th century began. Please remember, that this book barely has words; its just pictures and nothing else, so, buy it if your a history buff in witchcraft and the occult.
Not exactly what I expected but useful.......2001-11-09
I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting but when I got the book and viewed the pictures I only found a little more than a dozen that were useful or interesting for my purpose. However, if you are an art student or just interested in the occult or demonology then this book will provide some unique and intriguing pictures.

Great Idea -- Disappointing Execution.......2001-02-13
This review has nothing to do with how the book treats Wicca or witchcraft. The only question I want to answer here is how good a collection of illustrations on this historical/mythological subject it is, and the answer is: not very good at all. The quality of the illustrations is terrible for the most part. While there are some decent reproductions, most look like someone put a sheet of onion-skin paper up to a wall in some medieval church and hastily traced the picture underneath, all the while looking over his shoulder to make sure the caretaker wasn't approaching. And if you are looking for some good explanatory text, don't hold your breath. Aside from captions below each illustration identifying artist and source, there are no more than two or three introductory sentences PER CHAPTER. Better quality reproductions and some good research and interpretive text could have made this a scholarly tome. As it stands, it seems more like an attempt to make money off a collection of old tracings that were lying around in someone's grandmother's attic.
