4 out of 5 stars Lack of clarity and unhelpful info.......2007-09-05

This book was a bit of a challenge. There are some times when it helps and a lot more when it doesn't. I would like to know when the Limits increase, how to learn more Enemy Skills, and about Chocobo breeding. This book doesn't cover these things. It gives you a walkthrough, the plot and some battle tips, but not much else that you can use. (As soon as I figure out how to change the stars, I'm putting it down to a 2-star rating.)

4 out of 5 stars FF7 Strategy Guide.......2007-08-31

This strategy guide is good for people who don't want to miss parts of the storyline or the best items, etc., while still having to do everything yourself. However, for people like me who just wanted to be told exactly how to get everything in the game, it was dissappointing.

4 out of 5 stars Misunderstood Intent.......2007-08-11

I think a lot of people over look the difference between a strategy guide and a walkthrough. If you want to be walked through the game step by step theres tons of free FAQ's on line. This guide is the same as every other official guide for a game. It's a GUIDE, its meant to help you along while you do most of the work. Thats what a guide is.

One thing I heard a lot of people complain about is that this book is full of spoilers. While that may be true, its your own fault if you let it spoil you. Don't want to be spoiled? Then don't read ahead of the part of the game you're in.

Another thing I heard a lot of complaints about is wrong info and typo's. While I haven't read through the entire book so far, I've yet to come across any wrong info. As far as typo's, I may have seen one or two but I wouldn't go as far as to say this book is "loaded" with them.

Yet another bad thing I've heard about this book are the maps. I think the maps are fine. The world map is the last page, makes it real easy to be able to flip to it while holding the page you're on. Also, the towns and areas are lettered and in the order that you have to visit them. For instance, Midgar is lettered "A" and the second town is "B" and so on. As for the maps of the towns and dungeons, I'll have to admit they sometimes get a little hard to read. But if they confuse you and you can't figure them out, you should consider going back to school. I think the game itself is some times confusing, when you're on a certain screen sometimes it isn't clear right away which way you need to go (where entrances and exits are) and the maps match that. I'm going to stop referring to them as maps because they're actually screen shots of the game itself.

This guide is perfect for some one who hasn't played through the game before. One thing I really liked about it was it gives you steal suggestions. For example, it suggests to steal a certain weapon outside of the first town instead of buying the weapon upgrade in the town. Not only do you save the money, but its a stronger weapon. Better yet, the weapon is available to buy in the next town so you saved on buying two items and had the stronger weapon all the while. Another example would be the guide suggesting to steal a certain armor while in a dungeon. Its stronger then what was currently available and better yet free.

I don't give the guide 5 starts because I feel it could have been better, but this isn't a bad guide at all. It could have had a better explanation of materia to beginners, and might have been a little weak in some other explanations. But all the info you need for anything is in the game itself. This is how an RPG works, you have to talk to every one. If you're upset that this guide doesn't hold you hand and tell you how to do everything step by step then I don't know what you're doing playing an RPG game. Half the fun of an RPG game is discovery.

If you're playing this game for the first time and you want something to help you when you get stuck, then this guide is for you. Its also nice to look over an area after you've completed it to see if you missed anything. I recommend it to anyone playing the game for the first time.

Please remember the difference between a guide and a walkthrough ;)

3 out of 5 stars Great game, terrible guide........2007-06-15

As much as I love this game, the guide was of no use to me.

9 times out of 10, an item was misplaced from one dungeon into another.

And the thing that really upset me was the Side-Quest tasks.
No where does it give an in depth description of the All American Creatures. Now I know that's part of the challenge is figuring out how to defeat them. But if Cassady's intentions were to put them into the guide in the first place, he should have at least gave more than what he wrote.

In addition, the Chocobo raising guide is bleaker than a rainy Sunday. Sure it tells you how to achieve the infamous Golden Chocobo. Though does it tell you to race 9 times to reach class S? Does it tell you the possible great prizes to be won for dominating races?

Another interesting thing is the amount of cool materia that is shown in the back, yet half of them aren't even expressed in the guide.

It's pretty sad that I had to go online to find out where to obtain some of them.

For those of you buying the guide, I'd advise against it. Invest ten dollars on bubble-gum.

3 out of 5 stars Should have been better.......2007-06-09

For such a legendary game, I would have liked a meatier guide. The walkthrough is great, but that's pretty much all this book features. A quick overview of limit breaks is good, but the fly-by of the side quests leaves a lot to be desired. The bestiary is kind of goofy too. They've improved on these guides for the more recent games, but in comparison this one just seems kind of flimsy. It's a nice tool the first time around, especially because this game can get pretty difficult to master, but afterwards it isn't all that useful.

4 out of 5 stars A great FF8 companion.......2007-09-05

I found this book to be an improvement on the FF7 book. The directions are easier to follow, and it includes a lot of important information. I would have liked the names of the Cards to be easier to read - dark font on a dark background is too hard to reference for anything - and the beastialityairy was too hard to decipher. But that's a small point when you compare it to the failure to continue with the total coverage in the FF9 book. This book told me what I needed to know about the little things that I missed - the weapons, the GFs, the magazines (not enough room), and locations like the Islands or the Deep Sea Research Center. It was tremendously helpful. Still is.

5 out of 5 stars beautiful.......2007-07-17

fast shipping, perfect condition, all around great, happy with my purchase. I know generic comment but I can't think of any other way to describe it

4 out of 5 stars Unorganized, but factual enough.......2007-06-15

This guide was very very good in getting me through the game the first time I played it.

HOWEVER, when I went back through to collect all the little items that I had missed, I learned quickly how badly the guide leads you to them.

I think instead of giving 2-10 boxes of short comments, I think it needs to list them in order.

Yes I know that those boxes prevent spoilers, however, they don't aid me at all in finding X item on map Q.

Definitely not one of Cassady's best guides, but it helps complete the game to the bare minimum.

5 out of 5 stars The Best strategy guide out there........2007-05-07

This has to be the best strategy guide out there that I have seen for this game. It is detailed on where to go for the side quests and has great strategies for defeating your enemies. A must buy.

im glad i was able to play VIII and it's such an amazing game just like IX is too. like the same with it, the guide could have been better but it's still good

5 out of 5 stars speedy delivery.......2007-09-25

I was very pleased with the speed in which my game guides came in. They were perfect when they arrived and I was very excited to start using them.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but flawed.......2007-08-18

I have read the other reviews, and have agreed with many of them. The thing i am getting pissed off about is the blitzball section. It is incredibly vague and i figured it would tell me exactly what to do in the beginning to form a great team, nor did they even think to say "formation 2,3,2 is the best strategy to score a goal, they leave alot of it out.

It is best to have it, as a refrence. But gotta say, the people who play it, IE the kids and teens across the world can form one helluva a better strategy guide then an 40 year old man EVER could. [...].

4 out of 5 stars Could have been even better if the game was better.......2007-06-09

Another beautiful strategy guide, in the vein of the Final Fantasy XII guide. Big, pretty, and full of stuff. This guide spells out exactly how to get 100% completion after the walkthrough - I'm not ambitious enough for that, but I can see useful it is. The information in the walkthrough is a bit jumbled, and the superfluous charts and tables dilute the walkthrough itself, but in a way that's a consequence of the non-linear gameplay. I like the outlines of the dresspheres, which would have otherwise been difficult to get used to, and the bestiary, which includes Oversoul statistics.

What I don't like is the presentation itself. It's very easy on the eyes, but it seems like they were making the guide to be big rather than using a big guide to the fullest extent. I wasn't crazy about the game, but I'm trying to keep that from affecting my rating of the guide, because I find the book form to be quite satisfying.

3 out of 5 stars Great game, guide could've been better..........2007-04-05

I tell you, I LOVE this game, but the guide is not that well organized. It provides TOO much info, without giving readers easy and clear access to the info they are really looking for. I've also found few "errors" in the guide that I have not seen in any other Bradygames guides. I own quite a few, and the guide to FFX and Kingdom Hearts were quite exceptional. Now, I understand that the game is a nonlinear game, but they could've at least put in an index or table of contents to make finding info about a particular subject easy to find. I also found a few spelling errors. It almost seems they rushed the guide. Great images and some easy to follow maps, but otherwise, you can find better walkthroughs for free on the internet.

4 out of 5 stars Great guide, only a few minor flaws.......2007-03-22

I found the guide to be very useful but there were some omissions that I found to be annoying.

The Goods:

1) Complete skill list for each dresssphere and garment grid. Great info and very well-done!
2) Breakdown of quests by chapter
3) Mini-game section. Especially useful for multi-chapter games.
4) There is an index-thingy printed on each page so you know which chapter you are reading about at all times.

The Bads:

1) Accessory list doesn't mention where the accessories can be found. You have to page through the entire walkthrough to find a specific item.

2) You can do things in the game that make it so you can't get an item without being warned. For example, it isn't made clear that you must talk to one certain person in each chapter to get the "Invincible" accessory until you get to chapter 5 and realize you are out of luck...Start over or go without it.

3) Towards the end chapters the authors get lazy and stop including complete maps, so you have to go to previous chapters to find your way...sloppy.

Overall a great guide and I would give it a 4.75 if I could.

5 out of 5 stars FFXI Guide for Beginners.......2007-06-12

This item has helped me a lot during my time in FFXI. YES the game is updated beyond this version, YES the information is inaccurate, but this guide has saved me tons of trouble, time, and effort for BASIC beginner information such as LVLs of Magic, Armor, Weapons, and Weapon Skills. There is even a neat little guide on what weapons skills link together to preform Skillchains! All in all I've been using this guide since the beginning and believe it is worth every penny. If you buy this guide, I HIGHLY recommend also buying the FFXI Atlas Guide as well. Both of these items make entering the FFXI world that much easier and more enjoyable from beginning to end game.

3 out of 5 stars Two Years Later and I Still Use This Thing...Sometimes........2006-04-21

Even though it is two years old (and I've been playing for about that amount of time) it still has some helpful info. Of course it doesnt have any of the recent higher level things because when this guide came out there were'nt that many high level players. Also SE does not want to give away too much end game information. SE wants people to keep paying money to find out for themselves. Even though some of the quest are a bit dated it gives me a starting point. Without this guide to show me certain quests I wouldn't even know where to start to look online for it. Oh, and about the job info, the guide was written the way SE intented the jobs to be used, not the way the players use them now (Ninja was never supposed to be a tank you know.) But anyway...to the real points >>>

1) The guide IS 2 years old going on 3.

2) It does have a nice list of guild recepies. (I have level 49 Clothcraft and I love this list!) (However there are NPC's in game that can tell you everyhting you can make up to your current skill level.) On a side note: The way you actually have to fish has changed because of an update, so ask a fellow fisherman for help if you are just learning :-)

3) It has a decent mob list. No mobs from the past 2 years. Most of the ones that people level off of are in there, and it does show weaknesses, how they aggro, their jobs and their levels. Has no Notorious Monster information though.

4) Has a good gear list too. Yes you can see it in Jeuno if you just search through the Auction House. But it's still nice to have on hand at any given moment. It shows which jobs can use the gear and all the status info on the items. It also shows some Rare/EX gear which cannot be found at the Auction House.

5) Only covers the orginal version with the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack (although Zilart Missions are not actually mentioned in the guide. Which would have given away secrets to the then new expansion pack at the time.) It does have a decent quest list for these cities (I still can't do some of them because my fame is too low XD)

6) There is a skillchain chart. However it does not show all the skillchains (even some of the lower level SC's are missing.)

7) Only has maps of the 4 moajor cities. These maps are easily obtainable in the game itself. It does have some key NPC locations based on the quests that the guide provides so you dont have to hunt for Tapoh Lihzeh (she is an NPC that provides a low level repeatable quest that can actually help build Windurstian fame)or any other strangely named NPCs.

9) Some of the job info is no longer correct due to updates in gameplay. Most of these updates are on the advanced (unlockable) job classes, so by the time newer players are introduced to these jobs they should already have been made aware of these incorrections.

In all this is a fairly decent guide that is still useable (for how much longer is unknown.) I would still recommend it to new players ONLY if they can buy it at the suggested retail price of 19.99 or lower.

1 out of 5 stars Outdated, and polluted with bad editorial and misinformation.......2006-04-01

Final Fantasy XI is an MMORPG's with a developer actively supporting it as well as a dedicated user base creatively finding new ways of putting play mechanisms in more and more clever uses. It's a living environment, which no book can ever come close to detailing, and no book can present you with anything better than an incomplete snapshot in time, forever left behind by all the regular game mechanism tweaks and new item additions.

That said, this guide is especially bad, even for a book. Lacking newer items and information on the different updates aside, it has a very misleading section on the different jobs ("classes") and their uses in game. It also fails at helping readers understand the dynamics of grouping ("partying") for gaining experience points and levels, and does not provide any realistic strategy to level crafting for beginners.

For a real guide on how to play the game, the best way is to just play it--and ask for advice from players in the game. Join a "Linkshell" (often called "guild" in other MMORPG's), and hang out with new friends. There is no better or more fun way to learn about the world of FFXI.

For information on various items, quests, missions, crafting, etc., look toward the Web. You can find just about any information you need out there; here's a short list of good sites to start with:

ffxi.somepage.com
ffxi.allakhazam.com
mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/
wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Main_Page

So, skip this book--it'll just put wrong ideas into your head, which you'll have to unlearn. Play the game to understand it, and use the Web as your reference book instead.

(BTW, ignore all the pretty "buy gils now" advertisement on the web pages--buying virtual currencies is rather frowned upon by many players.)

5 out of 5 stars Good For Those Who Are Just Getting Into The Game On Their Own.......2006-03-01

Like my title for this review states, I'd say that this guide is pretty good for how "old" it is (or how long it has been out for). But it helped me get into the game and get started pretty well once I started playing Final Fantasy XI on the PC for the first time. For those who think it is there to guide you all the way through this great MMORPG, think again, because it is just to help you get around in the beginning, not complete the game. In my experience and with the experience with my friends that play "MMO's" it is quite difficult to complete a MMORPG, especially one like FF XI. If you're one individual that is just getting into MMO's, pick up FF XI and the guide to help you with your first few adventures in the grand world of MMORPG's.

5 out of 5 stars It's a Good Guide... Although..........2007-08-23

There are about a million Final Fantasy II guides out there. Well, just about. However, in all fairness, I can't just give this guide one star just because you won't need it or just because it's the same thing as the Final Fantasy Origins Guide that BradyGAMES produced four years ago. In all fairness, this is a really good guide to Final Fantasy II. There are simple problems going on here, though. The first being that if you have the BradyGAMES Final Fantasy Origins Guide or Nintendo Powers Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls Guide... then plopping down seventeen dollars for this guide... just for the PSP extra content is absurd. It's even more absurd if you do have Nintendo Power's guide because you're only going to be missing ONE dungeon.

For what it's worth, though, if for some reason you actually need a guide for Final Fantasy II and you don't have the Origins or Dawn of Souls guide, then you've got this one.

However, when I say its the same as the Final Fantasy II portion of the BradyGAMES Final Fantasy Origins guide I'm not kidding. The staff actually copied and pasted the material from the Final Fantasy II section of the Origins guide released in 2003 and stuck it in this guide. They made minor edits, of course to suit the PSP version (like they say R instead of R1). However, the good news is that the Final Fantasy Origins Guide was a good guide and all that good stuff about it is coming here.

This simply means that they cover the game really well, from its complex leveling system to going in depth on all the characters. They've got an incredibly detailed walkthrough that leaves no stone unturned. In each section of the walkthrough they have suggestions on what to buy in towns and why you buy it. They also have a list of enemies and a small portion of each section dedicated to telling you about those enemies--how to defeat them and such. They've also got detailed maps that pin point out the treasures. There's a lot of good stuff here. The Bestiary is also really good and tells you everything you need to know. Like I said, however, all the text included in the walkthrough is the exact same text that was in the Final Fantasy Origins Guide. All the way down to the fantastic boss strategies.

However, since the Origins game didn't have all the really nifty extras that Dawn of Souls or the PSP version has, they actually did have to work on that, and they do a pretty good job with the bonus content as well. But to be honest, if you've got the Origins Guide or (better yet) the Dawn of Souls guide, then perhaps GameFAQs would be better for the extras and this guide would be better off left on the shelf.

It's a good guide to be sure, but if you've got previous guides that cover Final Fantasy II, it's not really necessary to get this one.

For what it's worth, though, if for some reason you actually need a guide for Final Fantasy and you don't have the Origins or Dawn of Souls guide, then you've got this one.

However, when I say its the same as the Final Fantasy portion of the BradyGAMES Final Fantasy Origins guide I'm not kidding. The staff actually copied and pasted the material from the Final Fantasy section of the Origins guide released in 2003 and stuck it in this guide. They made minor edits, of course to suit the PSP version (like they say R instead of R1). However, the good news is that the Final Fantasy Origins Guide was a good guide and all that good stuff about it is coming here.

This simply means that they do cover the jobs really well, telling you everything about them and what stats will increase at level up. All the way down to the mediocre boss strategies (which were more or less: Keep hitting it until it dies).

It's a good guide to be sure, but if you've got previous guides that cover Final Fantasy, it's not really necessary to get this one.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2007-05-14

I think this guidebook was fantastic. It was a great help and I'm very glad I bought it.I think Bradygames made a very good playbook and hope to see more of them.I would recommend this Players Guidebook to anyone who plays FFIII./

5 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy III Guide.......2007-02-20

Very good map to find hidden treasures and well described battle tactics.

4 out of 5 stars Great Guide but a little vague on the Side Quests.......2007-01-10

I found this a great guide but myself and a friend who has the same game. We are trying to get the hidden class character and it doesn't say who the 7th email comes from or how to get it. Otherwise a great guide.

2 out of 5 stars I thought I was buying a strategy guide, not a hyperlink........2007-06-09

I have pretty much the same gripes as everyone else. Although the Internet is faster, more widespread, and more reliable than when this guide was first released, I still don't approve of essentially half of the guide being on PlayOnline. It's a nuisance to have to stop in the course of a game, and it takes the information away from your fingertips. Aren't you entitled to have the full guide in front of you at all times, seeing as you paid for it? I think so.

The bestiary is also very lacking, so much that I don't even refer to it. The descriptions of boss battles seem thrown together at the last minute, and they don't really offer much insight. There is a wealth of information about the game in here, so the guide isn't worthless, but I still would have liked a much better one.

1 out of 5 stars This is supposed to be a guide?!.......2007-06-05

Almost everywhere you look in this book, it basically tells you "Go to this website blah blah blah to know this secret"...
What a rip-off!

2 out of 5 stars KeyCode Online?!?! .......2007-05-12

I usually like play the Final Fantasy more than once. I had to restart some of Final Fantasy games because, I missed a lot of items or some of side-quests. I bought the guide book for Final Fantasy VI and I was able to follow through it without any trouble. However; I bought the guide Book for Final Fantasy IX Well, I can't believe you HAVE TO go ONLINE every TIME you want to find out more about the items or side-quest and you have to go online and type the stupid keywords to find out, Which is complete waste of time! The problem is here, when you DO go online The FF9 keyword Or even the FF9 site itself isn't on there anymore! So, it was kind of pointless of buying this book. Since you are better off with Gamefaqs or Rpgclassic walkthrough.

4 out of 5 stars good.......2007-03-19

this is good. and helpful, though yes, it could be much better. and i wish they did just that! make it better but its still good

1 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy IX.......2007-03-08

Not much of a helper. Youd be better off just looking things up online. Besides, thats what I did after I bought the guide. Refers to a website that no longer exist without intensly searching google with the right criteria.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Resource.......2007-09-13

It would be impossible to accomplish all of things you can accomplish in this game without some help. There are simply too many secret places, special weapons, hidden aeons, etc. than one person could unlock on their own. The book is easy to use, easy to understand, and put together in a helpful, comprehensive manner. You will enjoy this game even more with this valuable resource.

5 out of 5 stars Well organized & absolutely essential!.......2007-08-13

Well organized & absolutely essential!
This guide lends even more playability to an already great game!

2 out of 5 stars Good for getting you through the game, not for the elite.......2007-08-02

This guide book is well written at certain points, but terribly hole-filled at others. It's a great walk-through of the straight through and giving you an idea of what to do. However, if you're like me and like to completely dominate the final fantasy games, then this book won't help much more than any online walk-through guide. Now begins my rant... The original, area and species creations are merely mentioned; there is no info about the actual fiends and considering almost all of them are insanely harder than even the final boss it would have been nice to know what to expect or at least know how much hit points each one has. The guides to getting the legendary weapons are vague and not very helpful except stating where each one is on the map. There are no helpful hints on the hard events that you need to do in order to get the parts for the weapons (anyone who has done the chocobo trainer race or the lightning dodger knows what I'm talking about). In my opinion he could included tons more information and made a really good strategy guide, but it seems like he rushed the whole thing and included just what was needed to get through the game. By now there are many many guides on the internet that are as good if not better, don't bother with this when you can get the same thing for free.

5 out of 5 stars Not only official, but simply the best........2007-04-12

Normally I am not one to BUY walkthrough or strategy guides but I noticed that this particular game is VERY complex and most information I found on-line just didn't seem to cut it. I was skeptical about buying this guide, but I read the more than stellar reviews on it, and I decided to get it when it went on sale.

BOY! I sure didn't regret my purchase! This is clearly one of the best reference guides I have bought in years! Simply put, the book is beautiful. The colors chosen, the map drawings, and the amazing attention to detail cannot be understated. I would have easily paid double what I paid and still I would be satisfied with my purchase.

While I thought this book is a walkthrough and left it at that, I found out that is it's much more. First of all, the book is divided into sections. The walkthrough is actually one section of the book with all key locations are given as well as where all the secret treasures lie. There is also a section describing each of the characters in your party as well as detailed information on the summonable Aeons.

But where this book also shines is that it also gives you a wealth of information that is difficult to find.

All the beasts and foes are given their own section and their strengths and weaknesses are all given in addition to their hitpoints and other vital information.

Another thing that always bewildered me with Final Fantasy X is the whole meaning and gameplay behind Blitzball. Not only does the guide explain it very well it also gives you information (again) you just can't find elsewhere. I always wondered why my Blitzball team was always losing, but then I found out that you can HIRE Blitzball players and they can be pretty much scattered about Spira. All of the capabilities of all the hirable players are given in addition to 'regular' players.

Finally, the book gives you a fold out that illustrates the entire sphere grid. There is a whole section in the book that explains the sphere grid and then gives suggestions on paths you can take each character.

Because the book is laid out in sections, you pretty much can look information up on Blitzball players, Weapons, and Beasts without giving away anything 'secret' (there is a whole section on that topic too).

The Walkthrough section is divided into a couple sections as well. One is the main or core walkthrough, then there is the walkthrough to access sidequests and also secret items.

Given the scope of Final Fantasy X AND the detail given to the creation of this book, I feel that you cannot have one without the other. Ok, if you have LOADS of time to figure out every element of the game yourself, then perhaps you can 'wing it'. But for me, I see the Final Fantasy X Official Strategy Guide an extention of the game manual and instructions.

Simply put...it is a must get. You will not regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Good enough.......2007-04-06

This book definitely doesn't have everything in it but it has most. I would recommend you use online walkthroughs for the more trickier things like the bestiary or getting the best characters out of the grid system.

4 out of 5 stars its good but..........2007-03-19

its good but i didnt beat the game, so i thus didnt use the whole stragey guide so i dont know since i didnt dive into it that much

5 out of 5 stars helpful guid.......2005-10-17

It was nice to have some over view maps of the caves and castles. It help prevent the access use of potions and death of party members at early levels.

5 out of 5 stars Most helpful book ever!.......2004-11-24

This is the most helpful book ever. It has maps, stats for characters and bosses and the eastiest way to beat them. The book tells you what is in each chest if they're guarded and by what. And it has what monster you'll find in certain areas and there stats. It show all the wepons armor and items and their ablities. This book is great. I used it after i beat both and i was amazed at some of the things i missed or did wrong. Personnally though i'd rather spend more time on the game and find the stuff without help it just more fun that way. But when it comesd to strategy guides this is a the top!

5 out of 5 stars OH MY GOD, THIS BOOK IS MAD USEFUL!.......2004-01-28

Wow, this book's got everything! Bestiary, secret items, boss strategies, everything. If you seriously are having trouble, get this guide. You won't be sorry, you'll be like " Wow this thing DOES have EVERYTHING!"

5 out of 5 stars Very helpful!.......2003-08-09

I was VERY impressed with this guide when I bought it the other day and I have to say that it's helped me cover alot of material. I had already beaten FF1, but FF2 was probably the hardest for me to complete alone and I'm sure that this is the same for everone else who's played it as it is said to be the HARDEST one in the FF franchise! Without it, I probably wouldn't have gotten as far as I thought. The guide covers both games and includes info on magic, dungeons, Boss strategies etc. and just about anything else you'd expect to know from a Final Fantasy game. And well, thanks to an excellent walkthrough through FF2, I finally beat both games with just about everything covered. (except for 'Normal' mode in FF1)

OVERALL: I give it a 10/10! Excellent coverage for both games and a nice way to get through the hardest dungeons in case you get lost. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are having trouble getting through either game because it will REALLY REALLY help! Never have I seen strategy this good in a long time! BRADYGAMES is the BEST co. to offer these, so I say BUY TODAY!!! You won't regret it! ^_^

4 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy online helper.......2007-05-16

Gives good information, but disappointed there aren't better details on objects.

2 out of 5 stars Outdated but useful in some ways.......2006-05-09

This book is not even in print anymore. There are three expansion packs out now. This book only covers the first one (Rise of the Zilart) and does not cover Chains of Promathia or Treasures of Aht Urghan at all. It is useful to newbs who are trying to find their way around the game, but there is nothing in this book that cannot be found on the internet if you just search for it. There are numerous sites that contain much more useful information (Such as allakhazam) but the problem with them is that the way this game is written, you cannot Alt-tab out of it to view another web page. Once you are in the game, you have to exit it to access any other programs on your pc (I play pc version exclusively....this doesn't apply to PS2 or X-Box players).

4 out of 5 stars there is an updated verison.......2004-09-23

because online games such as these change on a regular basis, this particular book is out of date as a newer version has been issued. also since there is another expansion for teh final fantasy 11 game called Chains of Permathia, another version, probably called fall 2004 will probably be released soon.

2 out of 5 stars Should Have Shipped With The Game. . ........2004-05-07

This guide is nothing more than a decent instruction manual for FFXI. The idea was good and if you started playing the game, let's say, back when it was first released in Japan, this so-called guide may have been helpful. But times change and so do MMORPG's. Don't get this guide unless you have a time machine so you can go back to when it would have been useful.

3 out of 5 stars For the Newbies _ONLY_.......2004-04-30

This is a great book for those JUST STARTING OUT on FFXI, much of the information from Fall of '03 still works with the current incarnation of FFXI, however, due to the ever-changing nature of FFXI, it will be out of date sometime next year. The job guidelines are great, and it's really geared to the new player. A good buy for any wanting to know a bit more about the game, but don't expect everything in here. There's a level 50 Cutoff on spells, equipment, and information in general (the game currently goes up to level 75) My copy has gotten much use, and I still break it out once in a while. ^_^

5 out of 5 stars David Cassady writes Killer Guides... Period........2003-02-12

My girlfriend got me this guide for Christmas the year the game came out. I wasnt to sure how well it would help me, mainly because Cassady had to cram two games into one book. Well, he managed to do it, and to do a hell of a job with it. Each game has step by step walkthroughs that are a great help and helps you with tons of secrets. This is a very good guide.

4 out of 5 stars Final Fantasy 5 & 6 for dumbies.......2001-10-03

This is a remarkable book with hints and tips on how to beat bosses, get secret items, and completely beat both 5 & 6. I would recommend you first try to beat it yourself before buying this book. If you still have trouble getting the best out of these games then go right ahead and buy it. If you still are stumped after looking at the book then I would give up and play another game.

5 out of 5 stars Definitely a must have.......2001-08-20

This is an essential guide for the Anthology. It covers weapons, armor, accessories, and abilities well. A few reservations, though: 1) There is no extensive list of where to get Blue Magic spells for FFV (you'll find hints scattered throughout the wlkthrough); 2) There is no clarification of which classes can equip a certain item for FFV. Otherwise, you cannot ask for a better guide.

4 out of 5 stars An Alright Guide For A Great Game.......2001-01-21

Although FFA was superbly done, this guide leaves...something to be desired. There wasn't much space devoted to character stats, and the mpas could have been presented in a better way. Overall, though, this guide will get you thourgh FFA, without giving away ALL of the plot, and giving you many of the secrets needed for mini-games, etc. A must buy for a FF fan, but not for many other people.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT.......2001-01-18

It really doesnt get better than this folks. This book has it ALL. There is absolutly nothing you could possibly want that isn't presented in this magnificent tome. In fact, you could go through the whole game plot and all just by reading the book! It is CHOCK FULL of pictures and is made of nice durable material with a semi-hard cover. ...
