Michael Baigent, Henry Lincoln, and Richard Leigh, authors of The Messianic Legacy, spent over 10 years on their own kind of quest for the Holy Grail, into the secretive history of early France. What they found, researched with the tenacity and attention to detail that befits any great quest, is a tangled and intricate story of politics and faith that reads like a mystery novel. It is the story of the Knights Templar, and a behind-the-scenes society called the Prieure de Sion, and its involvement in reinstating descendants of the Merovingian bloodline into political power. Why? The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail assert that their explorations into early history ultimately reveal that Jesus may not have died on the cross, but lived to marry and father children whose bloodline continues today. The authors' point here is not to compromise or to demean Jesus, but to offer another, more complete perspective of Jesus as God's incarnation in man. The power of this secret, which has been carefully guarded for hundreds of years, has sparked much controversy. For all the sensationalism and hoopla surrounding Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the alternate history that it outlines, the authors are careful to keep their perspective and sense of skepticism alive in its pages, explaining carefully and clearly how they came to draw such combustible conclusions. --Jodie Buller
Book Description
SPECIAL ILLUSTRATED EDITION WITH EXCLUSIVE NEW MATERIAL
“One of the more controversial books of the 20th century.” –UPI
“Enough to seriously challenge many traditional beliefs, if not alter them.” –Los Angeles Book Times Review
Explosive, thought-provoking, fiercely compelling, Holy Blood, Holy Grail breaks bold new ground with its shocking conclusions about the lineage of Christ and the legacy of the Holy Grail. Now this lavishly illustrated
collector’s edition features exclusive new material plus dozens of full-color photographs, drawings, symbols, architecture, and artwork, making it a dazzling feast for the eyes as well as the mind. Based on decades
of research, filled with eye-opening new
evidence and stunning scholarship, this authoritative work uncovers an alternate history as shocking as it is believable–as it dares to ask:
Is the traditional, accepted view of the life of Christ in some way incomplete?
Is it possible Christ did not die on the
cross?
Is it possible Jesus was married, a father,
and that his bloodline still exists?
Is it possible that parchments found in the
South of France a century ago reveal one
of the best-kept secrets in Christendom?
Is it possible that these parchments contain
the very heart of the mystery of the Holy
Grail?
According to the authors of this extraordinarily provocative, meticulously researched book, not only are these things possible–they are probably true. So revolutionary, so original, so convincing, the most faithful Christians will be moved; here is the book that has sparked worldwide controversy, now newly updated and beautifully illustrated for the collector’s shelf.
“Like Chariots of the Gods...The plot has all the elements of an international thriller.” –Newsweek
“Compelling.” –Philadelphia Inquirer
“An astonishing hypothesis.”
–Publishers Weekly

This IS the original.......2007-09-23
This is where it all started for me... 10 years and over 140 books later this book is still the best and the one i refer back to as the information contained is excellent.
What a story, whether true, false, fiction or non, it grips you from page 1 to the very end in a mystery that is so compelling and has such wide reaching implications you simply can not put it down.
I only wish the 3 authors had produced more work together.

Denial cannot change fact............2007-09-03
.
....nor can frequent repetition create it.
There are some interesting facts presented here, and some even more interesting conclusions drawn from those facts.
And thus the fight begins.
Some of the most intriguing facts are those surrounding Rosslyn Chapel. Inside there are carvings of plants that were not "discovered" by Europeans until two-hundred years AFTER their carving.
This is great book on the Templars and one theory of their demise.
Or is it fact????
It's interesting....These doubters........2007-07-31
Alot of you are doing exactly what they said the critics have done, You can argue all you want about Prior and etc, But they will agree with me that the most important topic here is the gospels pertaining to Jesus, you must remember that they think the most interesting thing here is that there is a civilization of people who believe in Jesus because of what they have been told to believe by force or condition to believe since childhood(like me, being a preachers kid) But they have now questioned not what you believe but on what grounds do you believe. They didnt make up verses, They quoted what was in the bible the King James Version! Think about this! What is the mystery behind the "Two Mary's" is Mary of bethany and the Magdalen the same? well according to the bible THEY ARE! Is there contradictions concerning the resurrection in the gospels? Well according to the gospels THERE IS! Is there something odd about the way Jesus was tried & convicted by Rome's accord? If you read the gospels with a historic eye THERE IS! People pick up the bible and read it along with what they question and you will come out with the same conclusions.
Holy Moses.......2007-07-03
If you are a historian, this is the book for you.
If you do research, this is for you.
If you are doing leisurely reading, this is not for you.
This book requires concentration.
holy comic book Batman.......2007-06-21
How did this comic book end up in the 'Catholic' section.. I can think of lots of different sections it belongs in but should NOT be in 'CATHOLIC' section.. people look for Catholic books in the Catholic section.. That's like putting 'Adventures with Barney' in the 'Classics' with Shakespeare!!

Good Adventure in the Diablo Universe.......2007-09-20
Richard Knaak did a great job at taking the atmosphere and setting of Diablo and creating a good adventure story.
He was able to create a good adventure, and good characters, within the constrains of the Diablo Universe. The creatures, magic items, cities, and demonic possession all play a role in this story.
The book is well written and fast paced. If you want a good adventure story in a familiar setting, pick this one up.
Very Decent.......2007-09-19
This book however having little to do with he actual game itself is a good read. Taking away the knowledge of what you know from the game you can put yourself in this world hidden behind Tristum's story and the story from the second Diablo game. Places were The Legacy of Blood is set. Conquering the enemy in an adversary and also as yourself finding what mattered to you the most. Action, Adventure and wow great detail. I think this book was superb but not fantastic.
A legacy of too many adjectives.......2006-12-29
I recently bought four of Knaak's Diablo books, and 1/3 of the way through reading this (the first I picked up) I threw it down in disgust. This is essentially fanfiction, and there's no such thing as well written fanfiction. In a single paragraph Knaak describes a necromancer as a dark mage, an enchantress, a witch, and perhaps throughout an entire chapter with the necromancer as the main POV character will have added another five or more descriptors. That is absolutely the worst kind of descriptive writing. Pick one and stick with it. We don't need to be constantly reminded that the necromancer is a necromancer (writers need to assume that their readers are intelligent), and we certainly don't need for that necromancer to be given a bajillion different adjectives describing the nature of their character. No good writer does this. If you have any doubts, pick up Tolkien and see if he does it. He doesn't. Tolkien is always a good litmus test.
It's not limited to the necromancer, either. A Captain is a mariner, a seafarer, an inn owner, etc., etc. It's the same for every major character in the book.
I know a wee bit about where good fantasy can be found and where it will never be found. Fantasy written from a game - Warcraft, D&D, Diablo, etc. - will never be good because it isn't the authors creation. If the author him/herself doesn't have the necessary *deep personal investment* in the story or the characters, the resulting work will have no more than the depth of a wading pool, and the emptiness of the characters, probably created out of necessity as opposed to being truly alive in the writers mind, will be readily apparent.
So I can blame only myself for being disappointed and resultantly frustrated with this book. I should have known better. I *do* know better.
Take my advice (and not the advice of those whose ratings gave this an average four-star rating) and steer clear of this. Play the game and make up your own stories. You'll probably be more satisfied and have loads more fun.
Wicked Fantasy Story.......2006-08-26
Diablo: Legacy of Blood (Book 1 in the series)
By: Richard A. Knaak
Well, I saw these books out at Borders a few weeks ago, picked up the 1st and 2nd one, read the backs and thought that they sounded pretty damn cool. Well, I finally finished the first one today and frankly, I thought that it was hella kewl. I'm not all that familiar with the story of the Diablo games, but I must say that I love the mix of both might and magic in this book. It is absolutely awesome and gives some really wicked detailed descriptions of everything.
The story is about a veteran fighter, Norrec, who, with the help of his companions, stumbles unwittingly stumbles on the tomb of Bartuc the Warlord of Blood who committed many atroscities against his fellow man. Events unfold leading Norrec to don the armor of the long dead warlord, which is in fact cursed with many enchantments and even the spirit of the warlord himself. Now, Norrec, sometimes under the control of the cursed armor must find a way to break the warlord's curse before he becomes the new Warlord of Blood and continue the bloody and violent legacy of the previous one.
This was an awesome book, like I said, it had lots of might and magic and was just fantastic. Definetly gotta give this one a 10/10. Awesome all the way through the epilogue.
Dark and Magical.......2006-03-23
The book is a page-turner, making me want to read on. The beginning was typical and wasn't really appealing, but as the story progressed it just got better. The writer gives us details of the significant characters. As I read the book, I got into the shoes of the characters, when Norrec killed his two friends I can't help but feel empathy for Norrec's cursed fate.
The psychological struggle of Norrec was well written. The change in Norrec from wanting to get rid of the armour to keeping the armour finely plotted, using carefully placed lines which appear to be the usual feelings, but are actually showing his changes. It was unexpected that Norrec who desperately wanted to get rid of the armour fought for his life to keep it in the end, this was a great twist to the story.
Another well written character would be Galeona the ambitious sorcerer of General Malevolyn. Her intentions always change, as the story progresses her allegience is uncertain because of her desire to follow the powerful one. She is ambitious and it is nice to see how she plans her next move to fulfill her own goals, these plans even include sacrificing other people's lives without hesitation just to find the cursed armour
The story itself is interesting, but would be alot less interesint without the characters. The characters are the driving force of the story, it brought the story to another dimension, without the strong characters the story would be just another story book.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read novels, especially those who like fantasy fictions.

Another awesome Prima strategy guide! This book provides a nearly flawless walkthrough for the entire game and, although most of it was pretty simple to figure out, the guide came in great use for those really tricky sections of the game. Also the guide provides info on every item, so you won't miss anything in the game. A must companion for the Playstation 2 game!

Great.......2007-07-29
I just finished reading this book yesterday and I'm devastated I didn't get the sequel at the same time as the first book. I'm soo pleased I stumbled upon this book. Its soo gripping and vivid I just couldn't put it down. Highly recommend it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in love with her writing.......2007-05-29
It's a rich and unforgettable tale of dazzling scenes and vivid personalities. I have read many Vampire stories, never thought I'd be this surprised...
Vampires and much more..........2007-05-12
I loved this book. It is a different kind of Vampire story.
The time and places and descriptions are wonderful.
You feel you are experiencing them as you read.
The character and courage of each individual keeps you
captivated till the end.
I can't wait for the next book.
Am I normal? I've fallen for a vampire!.......2006-06-11
This book is so different to the normal (yawn) vampire stories, you know, garlic and crucifix.... these vampires - or Dark Kind - to give their real name - are so believable! They kill to survive, but then so does a tiger or a cat or a wolf .... and they have a code of honour and ... oh Azrar is wonderful and Jazriel... what can I say??? Swoon.....!
I can't believe this story was made up. I totally believe vamps really did help us humans in the war!
Is there going to be another novel about the Dark Kind? The author says yes. Oh good!!!!!!!
My journey to the Land of Secrets and Shadows.......2005-12-21
I couldnt wait for my copy to arrive from Amazon USA, I borrowed a copy. Its a wonderful book, like watching a vivid Hollywood blockbuster. Expertly crafted with brilliant characters, Ms Dane has taken all the well-worn Goth cliches such as gloomy castles and wolf-ridden forests and given them fresh new vibrancy with her real passion for the genre. One of the blurbs calls Blood Tears; 'Sexy, subversive and beautifully written.' Says it all! Looking forward to my own copy to arrive and the promised sequels. And the other reviewer is right, Jazriel is gorgeous!!

All that story and to have an ending like that?.......2007-07-06
I read the first two books and as soon as I finished the second one immediately ran out and got the next one. I tore through the 3 book in a night and a half thinking "man what a great series I cant wait to see what happens" and then thud...that ending rolled out and i spent the next 15 minutes looking for the pages that had fallen out of my book. I checked the bag the book came in, I checked my car to make sure they hadn't fallen out there. Nope no missing pages, that's just how it ended. Then I thought "maybe there's another book". Nope no continuation book either. Man what a horrible ending to a really fun series to read. Had I known that's how it was going to end I would not have bothered reading the first two books.
A disappointing end to an otherwise stellar trilogy.......2007-03-12
The first two books in the blood on the reik series were really well done intros to the Warhammer world through the eyes of a young man thrust into a career as an adventurer. The final book in the trilogy seems like an afterthought to tie up the loose ends from the first two books, rather than a climactic culmination of what the readers had been led to. While a clever idea closes the book, it's a clever idea that is 200 pages in the coming, with little else to praise in the book. I found the Gotrek and Felix books from the Warhammer series to be more consistent and enjoyable.
Unexpected Ending.......2006-12-26
This book is much darker and gloomy than the previous two books in the trilogy, as befitting the Warhammer universe. I was never able to guess how the story would end, and was rather disturbed by the unexpected ending.
Dark and sinister.......2006-12-18
I've read the previous two books in this trilogy, and this one continues where they left off, in a land of chaos and turmoil. The ending of the book is probably what I liked best since it was so different from what I was expecting. It certainly fits into the "culture" of Warhammer though, there are shades to everything, there is a little good in evil, as there is a little evil in good.
I am probably going to read this author's other books since I read these three. I prefer the dark horror of the Warhammer world and hope that Sandy writes some more books in this area.

Good Sequel.......2004-10-26
The first book in the series, Lethal Heritage sets the stage for the action that is to follow in the next novels.
This one is a great continuation to the storyline and if you like the book as much as I have, it will leave you wanting for more, thus directing you to read the following novel, Lost Destiny.
In this novel we see what the Clans are up to, how they're organizing themselves for the invasion and how their resistance is gathering up the forces needed to repel the threat.
Stackpole once again shows how great of a writer he is. Great character development, description and great plot. Don't miss out!
Once you're done reading the Blood of Kerensky Trilogy, if you want to continue reading into the Clan Era [years 3049-3059] here is the order you should read the other novels:
Lost Destiny
Natural Selection
Assumption of Risk
Bred for War
Malicious Intent
worst Battletech book, ever!!!!.......1999-09-05
this book is worse than even Planeswalker(the sequel to "the Brothers War") from M:tG. I would have gave it a zero if I could!!!!
Hooked me to the BattleTech Universe.......1998-12-31
This book, no doubt, is masterfully written and is also science fiction action at its finest. The vibrant characters are brought to life by good quality writing, and detailed descriptions. Though this is the second book in the significantly important trilogy to the BT universe, I haven't read the first book, yet I clearly understand what had previous happened, thanks to Mr. Stackpole's crisp, prominent writing. It is a definite must for all BT fans, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys science fiction.
:).......1998-09-15
A great sequel from Lethal Heritage that leads the way into Lost Destiny. The action in this book gives me chills. All the heroic action, from Phelan's life with Clan wolf, to Victor Davion's daring plans, is here. Stackpole rules!!
A must read for fans!!!!!!.......1998-03-06
The book kept me going the whole way. I have been reading Battletech for years and this is by far one of the best. Anyone who does not read this book will be missing out on a good piece of action. Hats off to Stockpole......

Raven Dane's beautiful, very bad boy Jazriel stars in Blood Lament.......2007-05-09
After spellbinding the reader with dark enchantment in Blood Tears, Raven Dane seduces us with Blood Lament, the latest in the Legacy of the Dark Kind series. It tells the story of her charismatic , beautiful and very bad boy Jazriel and his reckless downward spiral which threatens the other surviving Dark Kind. As with the first book, this is beautifully written, fast-paced and intriguing. And it leaves the reader thirsting for more dark deeds and adventures with the Dark Kind vampires. And not a bat, cape, coffin or frightened maiden throughout. A startling original story.

Legacy of the Blood: A Legacy of Research for DM's........2005-09-17
This product goes in line with the Gazetteers, giving the DM a thorough and large amount of information about the NPC's in Ravenloft. It is a must have when running a game for Ravenloft and for as much info was given in the Gazetteers for the domains, Legacy gives to the people within those domains. From the Von Zarovich's to the Boritsi's, it is a great book on the people of the land.
You can't help liking this book! It's in your Blood!.......2005-01-31
Legacy of Blood is one of the greatest books to purchase to make your Ravenloft Campaigns stand out. In Ravenloft you can't always go against the Darklords simply because that sometimes wreak havok on the carefully constructed world. On the other hand players want to be a part of the world and interact with it. Legacy of Blood helps bridge the gap, in it you will find classical Ravenloft Characters as NPC such as Eva Mordenheim, Sir Viktor Helsinger, Talen Von Zarovich, and many more. You are also given the unique ability to stat and make your own decendants of such families as the Von Zarovich's, the Mordenheim's, and the Godefray's to name a few. When creating these characters you will find that each family starts off with some wonderful merits and some family flaws. Each of which has a set of family feats which enhances your core families reputation rather well. The book also gives you some prestigue classes that help further cover the topic of gothic science, war, diplomacy, revolution, and sorcery.
I would recommend using this Book to players of Ravenloft and DM's both can use this book to create Characters with ties to the Dread Realms. I'm thrilled that they produced it and it can only add to the potentional of any Ravenloft game.
Book Description
In the spirit of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire, Marvel`s Blade the Vampire Hunter series and UPN`s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blood Legacy: The Novel spans more than six centuries and chronicles the exploits of Ryan, a beautiful and mysterious woman whose beauty belies her true nature as an immortal warrior. This fast-paced novel turns the lies that created the vampire mythology on its head and pumps new blood into the horror/fantasy genre.
Customer Reviews:
Blood Legacy: The Novel.......2007-08-08
The novel is definitely a must-read for anyone who enjoys vampire tales. Blood Legacy is a completely different spin on the mythos, one that delves into the science behind immortality. While I have no way of scientifically proving or disproving her explanations for these creatures, I really enjoyed reading about them! It was a very fun book, completely action packed with great heroes and villains! I have already read the sequel and loved it and am eagerly waiting for more novels in this series!
Made me Fall in love with the occult again.......2007-07-29
I cant begin to really describe this book or its sequel , but i will recommend that you buy it and read it..you might just like it even if you are skeptical
A great read, but not without problems..........2007-04-09
Though the characters here are strong and their conflicts interesting, the book as a whole could have used an editor's strong hand - both for the smaller proofreading errors (streptococcus is described as a virus, and a character is shown knitting a quilt), and for the larger, clumsy moments (like switching the point of view between paragraphs, or providing exposition to the reader by having characters simply state what they know "for the record").
But by far the greatest error here was telling us "The Story of Ryan" without having Ryan as our main point of view character. The whole affair is told via a framing story about a doctor, whose concerns and subplots conveniently vanish once Ryan's storytelling gets into full swing.
This story has a lot of promise, filled with dramatic flourishes that would be perfectly at home in a cinematic medium. It's an easy, entertaining read - and one that I quite enjoyed - with good plot twists towards the end. Just be prepared to forgive a few foibles.
WOW!!!.......2005-09-27
This is an incredible book!! Kerri Hawkins has not only rejuvenated the vampire story, but redefined it. She backs up the fantasy with science and you find yourself wondering, could this be real? This book is a feat of imagination and intellect and the beginning of a new genre in fantasy.
Good stuff.......2005-08-03
It has been a while since i have read this book, but i remember loving it. There are such cool characters in this book. I knew i would love it when i read the first page. This book will draw you in and hold you tight.

Changes are the only constant........2005-01-04

Following Deirdre Griffin from the traumatic illness in the prequel novel "Resurrection: The Vampire Legacy" in which her memory was slowly erased by a terrible poison, Karen Taylor's sequel is pure fascination and satisfaction. How did Deirdre disappear and where did she go? I finally got my answer.
The Cadre has taken most of the vampire holdings, but Vivienne managed to secrete a large amount of funds. She is able to purchase tickets and we see Vampires on the airlines, and that is intriguing; all flights must begin and end in the night. Where and how does a hungry vampire feed while on a flight?
Favorite characters such as Deirdre, Vivienne, Sam, Mitch, Max, and Victor come into focus with the revelations of their lives and emotions. There are some definite surprises: one of the main characters dies while old favorites come back into the game.
Taylor's writing makes it is easy to visualize the changing scenery from the small village in France, to England, New York, New Orleans, and Maine. Characters change dramatically, and now I wonder "what's next?"
I am looking forward to the next Deirdre and Mitch Griffin experience.
If you have never read a Karen Taylor vampire book, then pick up both the prequel and this delightful sequel -- you will probably find yourself "hungering" for more. I did.
Excellent.......2004-12-10
When last we saw Deirdre Greer, her mind was blank and she had reunited with the man who just refused to stay dead, Max. She accepts his elaborate lies that they are married, but a grain of doubt nags at her. Back home, her beloved Mitch receieves the stunning news that she is pregnant and evolving into a being that has never before existed, thanks to an unwitting and unexpected betrayal by someone they both love. The entire cast of beloved characters come together to take on the Others and reclaim Deirdre before she is killed.
***** Joy is in this book; eagerly, you will race towards the end, at the same time not wanting the end to come. It's filled with surprise twists and emotional depth. Ms. Taylor does something very few authors can handle in deftly handling shifting first person viewpoints and not confusing the reader. No matter if Deirdre or Mitch was narrating, I never lost track of who was speaking, as it were. Sincerely, I hope this is not the end, but if it is, then it has ended well. One warning, buy tissues before reading this. It would take a stone heart not to shed at least a tear or two. *****

Another wonderful book.......2004-09-27
One doesn't have to read the preceeding novels in this series to enjoy Karen's latest book, _Blood Red Dawn_. Her style is crisp and clear, and her characters are engaging. Viviane is a force unto herself. And how many 400 lb. vampires have you read about lately? Definitely a must-read. If you get a chance, pick up the others in the series. It's fun to watch her characters develop.
