bought for the library.......2007-06-12
I couldn't keep this book. My son lost this book from the library. Looked for this book everywhere and finally found it at Amazon! Thanks Amazon! The book was really inexpensive too!
Fun book.......2007-03-08
My four-year-old son loves Waldo, and we've had a lot of fun looking through this book EVERY night since he got it. It's his favorite book. There's so much to look for, more than just Waldo and his stuff -- there's Wenda, Wizard Whitebeard, Odlaw, Woof and all their props, as well as 25 Waldo Watchers scattered throughout the book. From an adult perspective, the postcards aren't as much fun to read out loud, but overall I love sharing the book with my children.
Sandi, Lima, Ohio.......2006-02-01
Always a great book - baught the original when my children were young for road trips - I baught this reissue for my 22yr old son to take to Iraq the original was worn out. Had to sneak a peak thou and all five of us spent hours
together like we did so many years ago.
where's wally.......2005-08-08
this is the mini version of the book, and though the smallness of it and the magnifyier that comes with it are somewhat of a novelty at first it gets fairly annoying rather quickly. Other then this small complaint i enjoyed this book.
Not purchased for my use........2005-08-05
Sorry, I can't review this title. It was purchased for a teen-aged friend. She seemed happy to receive it and started using it immediately.
Book Description
Fun with Scavenger Hunts is a book on planning, setting up and executing the best party you will ever host for adults or children. When my daughter wanted to throw a Halloween party at our house for her classmates, I had a better idea. I hosted a scavenger hunt for her class. The first year was a success. Every year the guest list grew. She is now going to start high school and her classmates want me to host a reunion hunt for them next year. I have encountered many questions on how to run one. Where do you start? How do you come up with the questions? This book will take you through the process. And it doesn't stop there. I have included car rallies and a new twist on humdrum bridal and baby showers. Your first clue is ....

Halloween Ideas.......2006-08-23
This is short but contains good information, especially regarding Halloween. It has 3 different Halloween hunt lists!
Terrible.......2006-04-08
Very disapointing. No where near worth $12.95 Maybe .25 cents at a yard sale if you happen to come by it. I suppose someone has to pay for the cost of printing it!

Book Description
Puns can make you laugh or groan, but when they're clues to these challenging and fun crossword puzzles, they'll make you smile with satisfaction. Can you find the five-letter word for "a race that's always a tie"? (Answer: ASCOT.) How about the three-letter word for "performing a scull operation"? (Answer: ROW.) If you can get those in short order, how about moving on to a 10-letter word for "small fries." (That answer is MICROCHIP.) Most of the puzzles are built around themes with several related words such as vegetables, insects, or Dr. Seuss books. But watch out--the vegetables may be spelled backwards; the insects are puns; and some of the Dr. Seuss puzzle answers include FIGURE OF SNEETCH, GRINCH MEAN TIME, and LAUNCHED A WOCKET. You can find the answers in back, but they're scattered around to make it harder to cheat.

Google confirms that it was Cecil B. DeMille...........2003-08-31
...who said, "I like to start off with an earthquake, and build up from there." Cathy Millhauser obviously took his advice.
I have been a Millhauser afficionado for years, so this is not an unbiased review. She is also a big favorite of the New York Times crossword puzzle daily discussion forum, aka, the "Cru". If CCC (Cranium Crushing Crosswords by Frank Longo) was THE crossword book of 2002, then HUMOROUS CROSSWORDS is certainly the book for 2003.
The single biggest "earthquake" for me was Cathy's tremendous range of talent. Some world class cruciverbalists are grid jockeys (Klahn, Gordon, Berry, Johnston), some are riotous punners (Reagle, Silvestri), some are smoothies, i.e., seamless craftsmen (Longo, Shteyman, and anybody else who wants to get a NYT Monday published), some are sadistic eluders (Hook, Klahn), some are gimmickmeisters (Gorski, Gordon, Merrell) and any other chronic NYT Thursdayperson), some are masters of quip (Rosen). and some are master cluers (Klahn, Nosowsky, Quigley).
Millhauser is everything. She can run with the big dogs in any area, and lead in most.
The two UNIQUE categories, however, in which she is unchallenged, are WHOLESOMENESS (although Longo is in the running), and HOUSEHOLDNESS (no challengers). She can also, clearly, differentiate funny punny (riotous pun) from groaners. When you finish this book, you say, "Gee, I would really like to meet her someday just to see how that mind works realtime."
Two big problems with this author is that there seems to be a chronic low-level "Millhauser rage" on the forum because we can't get enough of her. This problem, however, should be solved by this 96 page book. When you run out, however, the rage may return. The other problem, is that, out of my top-ten puzzles, only one of them was in the first group of ten, but I guess that is what old Cecil was talking about when he said, "the earthquake must gain momentum." To correct this second problem, if you want to get blown away right away, here are my suggestions for starting the book. First go to:
ONSET (grid jockey and smoothie)
OUTSIDE THE BOX (gimmickmeistress)
GOING POSTAL and IN BLACK AND WHITE (quipmeistress)
US of A (groaner puns)
MIXED VEGETABLES (wholesomeness, householdness, and funny punny)
CAMPING TRIP (innovation, gimmickry)
Oh, did I forget to mention the cluing? Well, every time I do a crossword, I check off clues which bring an intense pleasure rush to my brain. If you are a crossword fan, you do not need any further explanation of what this is. Most good crosswords have at least one. We call them HOFs, because they should go into the crossword clue Hall Of Fame registry. Well, Cathy averages 3-4 per puzzle, and in ONSET, there were a whopping SEVEN (7)! Nuff said.
Going back to the desert island scenario, if you could take only three books to the desert island, and this wasn't one of them, I hope you would get rescued real quick!
John R. Minarcik, MD
aka, Popeye, of the "Cru"

GENERAL FEATURES: Humorous Cryptograms by Sterling Publishing Co. is designed for hours of thinking fun! These 400 humorous Cryptograms will have you laughing, but not until you solve the puzzles! This book contains 128 pages. Approximately 5 3/8 by 8 1/4 inches.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book.......2006-07-26
This is a great book which makes you laugh after solving each cryptogram, and I've been doing a few cryptograms a day for the last month. One can do it without clues or opt to have one or two clues.
The print is great, the size is perfect to carry it everywhere and I would highly recommend this book to cryptogram lovers. I plan to buy this book for my mother-in-law who loves solving puzzles and cryptograms.
I've done over half the cryptograms and have found only 2 errors, but it didn't bother me. Most are of medium difficulty, and once in a while there is one which is more difficult.
Have lots of fun with codes........2004-06-04
This inexpensive, sturdy, entertaining book contains 400 humorous, comical and sometimes even witty quotes, drawn from a myriad of personalities and encoded in challenging substitution cipher, guaranteed to keep you busy for hours.
It also includes an introduction with general hints for solving cryptograms and, for those who take a wrong turn, two sections with clues on the solution of each puzzle. The full solutions are presented at the back of the book, along with an index of authors and quotations for those searching for quotes from one or another individual in particular.
The puzzles vary in difficulty, and you will find yourself using your intuition, your knowledge of spelling and syntax, and even your familiarity of each quoted individual to figure them out.
If you love cryptograms, buy this book. I can assure you that besides getting a healthy workout for your mind, you will also find, at the end of each puzzle, a gratifying laugh, chuckle or smile.

A fun book but definitely NOT error free.......2004-03-12
At this writing, I have worked 283 puzzles and have found three of them to have errors (puzzles 59, 256 and 272). While solving the puzzles has been fun, it's disconcerting to stumble across an error.
It's still a fun book. Some of the puzzles almost solve themselves. Others require you to dig deep into your knowledge of spelling and syntax, as well as the personality of the author of the quotation itself. Most are somewhere in between. In fact, if you're a multitasker like me, you can watch TV or even talk on the phone while solving the puzzles.
I'm beginning to panic at this point because I've only got 117 puzzles left! All in all, I recommend the book, errors notwithstanding.
These puzzles were fun to do!.......1999-08-25
There's a real reward doing these humorous puzzles, a good chuckle at the end. I'm a cryptogram nut these days and I found this one a real hoot. Each puzzle rated a least a smile and at most a belly laugh. If you like this kind of puzzle, by all means get this one. Oh yes, the pages are nice and sturdy, so you don't have to worry about making holes in the paper when you erase.
This is a cryptogram worker's dream - all cryptograms!.......1999-07-27
I found this book to be error-free. It has page after page of puzzles to work on hour after hour. I recommend it for those who love cryptograms.
For the novice, a clue is provided for each puzzle at the end of the book.
I have had to buy several copies for family members who share my addiction to this clever type of puzzle.
There are enough puzzles to last days and days and days. That beat working 20 in a puzzlebook, and then having to buy a new puzzlebook. I like all cryptograms. This book was written for me!

Book Description
Jon Agee and his better half, Eega Noj, have conspired again to inspire palindromania in Mom, Pop, Sis, and the family pup. With over sixty new reversible absurdities, readers will be doing a double take, while the preposterous illustrations leave them begging between guffaws, No, Jon!
Customer Reviews:
was it a rat I saw?.......2001-03-17
Palindromes are, of course, words or phrases that are spelled the same backwards or forwards. "So Many Dynamos!" is a palindrome as well-- go ahead, spell it backwards!!
Mr. Agee has collected some fantastically complicated and funny palindromes in this collection. All of them are illustrated, which add so much to the palindrome itself. For example, two rugged cowboys are running away from a huge pair of pants. "Massive Levi's, Sam!" one man shouts to the other. Another of my favorites is of two scientists gazing through a massively huge microscope at something on a small slide. "snot or protons?" asks one scientist.
Making palindromes is no easy task, though there are hundreds of them. Mr. Agee has proven himself brilliant by not only putting them together, but illustrating some rather difficult ones that then make perfect sense (I'll let you find out what "No! Put egg getup on!" means...!!)
Clever and entertaining.......2000-06-23
In any event, Jon Agee's extremely clever palindromes and accompanying illustrations are absolutely fantastic. My personal favorite is the papaya war, but you'll have to read it to understand. :)
A delightful book.......2000-04-08
Not the best book you'll ever read, but certainly somethig fun to pick up for someone's birthday, a young child, or an old child :) who's easily giggled by wordplay and cartoons. Think Far Side, focused on palindromes. I'm not sure if it thrives for as many pages as this goes, but it's a generally enjoyable book.
