    I agree with all the negative reviews on this page. The rest of the guide is awesome, but the locations of the Horseshoes, and Oysters are off, sometimes way off. I finally had to write down the places where they were so I would not forget. not much thanks to editors, but on the other hand, they made a great guide, sans the location maps.

    As everyone already knows from reading the other reviews here, this guide contains a vast amount of errors in regards to the Photo Ops and Horseshoes. I don't think that BradyGames has published a corrected version, which they could offer in exchange for the flawed version. However, they have released corrected information on their website:

    San Fierro Photo Op Updates

    The Photo Op location lists have been updated. This is available for your viewing and downloading pleasure. Use these lists, descriptions, and shots to cross reference the maps on pages 84 and 127. Enjoy your sightseeing and remember it's best to seek these shots at night.

    --------------------------------------------------

    This is one of the worst Official strategy guides you could ever buy. Sure it covers all of the missions, but some of them are not covered any more fully than what you get from playing the game itself. It briefly covers SOME of the side jobs and non-mission tasks, but an Official guide should cover ALL of them! There is no detailed information on the Rampages and Unique Jumps, and the Hidden Packages are only covered with a map and short sentence. Some of the other reviewers here go into detail about the deficiencies of this book, so I really don't need to say much more. DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE GOOD REVIEWS THIS BOOK RECEIVED, BECAUSE IT DOESN'T DESERVE THEM.

    I own this guide and the one released eight months later for the PC version. Although the PC guide is smaller (but much thicker) and in black & white (there are color maps in the back), it covers EVERYTHING (except cheat codes) about the game and with much more detail. Even if you own the Playstation 2 version of the game, you'd be better off buying the PC guide. The only difference gameplay wise are the controls mentioned in the book and a few little things like rewards for some of the vehicle missions.

    To wrap this up, here is an excerpt from the author in the Acknowledgement's section of the PC guide: "Beyond the satisfaction of playing the game a few more times, I was even more delighted to add features to this guide that I didn't have time to include in the PS2 guide. And with Tim Cox's phenomenal assistance, as well as his passion for the game, time was no longer the enemy. We are proud to bring you the most comprehensive Grand Theft Auto III guide in existence." So, that explains why this guide (PS2) sucks. The author was rushed to complete the book, in time for the release of the game, no doubt. Right there in black & white the author of both guides tells you that the PC guide is the most comprehensive guide, and thus the best one. (I have no idea if the X-Box Double Pack guide is based on the PS2 or PC versions, so proceed with caution when getting that one.)

    4 out of 5 stars A Good Strategy Guide.......2003-06-26

    Grand Theft Auto: Popular, violent, and in need of a strategy guide. A very good strategy guide that gives details about weapons, characters, general tips on things like police and shooting. It gives pictures and good advice on all 73 main missions and the side missions like Taxi Driver and Vigilante. It also gives maps and details on where all 100 packages are. The only flaws are it seems slightly dated with money totals and mission names being different. The other flaw is that the hidden packages are on a map from the game. The problem is the only in-game map is a small circular one in the corner of the screen. Overall, this strategy guide will help you out but you can probably beat Grand Theft Auto 3 without it.

    1 out of 5 stars Not near as good as the Vice City guide.......2003-04-28

    What can I say. I bought Vice City & the guide before I bought GTA3, the VC guide is really great with lots of info, cool pictures, & lots of helpful stuff.

    This one isn't, it is really that simple.

    4 out of 5 stars is it worth it? maybe. maybe not........2003-04-10

    Grand Theft Auto 3 is a fun game to play. It's not as great as Vice City, but it is still one of the better games out there. But, unlike Vice City, which I enjoyed reading about, GTA3 isn't as much fun to read about. The missions are fairly simple, and there are multiple ways to complete them, so the guide isn't the end all be all that it is in games like Metal Gear. You do get good desriptions of weapons and vehicles. And what I find most valuable are the maps to the hidden treasures, rampages, bribes, armor, life, etc. If you are having trouble completeing the game because you can't find all your hidden treasures and rampages, then this guide will solve your problems.

    4 out of 5 stars Video-Gaming Girl.......2003-01-04

    Before I go into the review, what you have to understand about the game is that most of the missions have more than one solution (which is one of the best things about the game.) If you think that the guide will give you the only, or even the best, solutions for the missions, you will be disapponted. Besides, the fun part is to come up with your own unique solution, and to learn from your mistakes.

    That being said, the book offers some great things. The maps were very helpful, especially for finding rampages, hidden packages, weapons, and other goodies. Also, in certain missions, where getting around quickly is a must, the strategies included maps of where to go and how to get there the most quickly.

    I did notice a few bits of wrong information (such as, what time the BF Injection Buggy would be available,) but overall, it's a worthy purchase. Just don't buy it thinking it will solve all of your missions for you.

    Although this is probably the least error-ridden volume in BradyGames' Grand Theft Auto strategy guide series, it does contain a few errors. Although BradyGames hasn't (to my knowledge) released a corrected-version, they have released some corrected information on their website:

    Page 9: Robbing Shops
    The correct location of the Deli is as follows: Deli (Cafe Robina) - The cafeteria in Little Havana where you receive the CUBANS: Umberto missions.
    * Screenshot: [see image uploaded to Product Images section on this item's page on Amazon]

    Page 144: Pizza Delivery Missions--150 Max Health
    During this side mission, you're tasked to complete a certain number of pizza deliveries. It starts out with one delivery, followed by two, three, all the way to 10. Successfully complete all 10 separate deliveries (from 1 to 10) in one attempt to unlock Max Health of 150hp.

    Page 147: Having trouble finding the PCJ Playground Odd Job?
    First, check out our Odd Jobs map on page 133. See where it says "Street Race 2"? Now find the little orange square just below the word "Street" on the map. That's where the PCJ Playground mission takes place (on a corner where Washington Beach becomes Vice Point). The PCJ cycle is parked right beside the wall of the apartment building on the NE corner of that intersection. If it's not there when you arrive, then perform a jump on the nearby ramp with any vehicle. When you return to the correct spot, the PCJ 600 will definitely be there.

    Page 172: Having trouble finding Hidden Package #43?
    It is still located in Studio C on Prawn Island, but there isn't a bathroom stall. In the movie studio lot, enter the first building on the right. The hidden package is located just inside to the left.

    Page 175: Airport Hidden Package #97
    This hidden package is located in Gate 1-8, not Gate 8-1.

    Hidden Stat Line: Keepie-Uppy beach ball
    Visit Starfish Island and go to the house across the street from Diaz's mansion, then find the beach ball in the empty pool in the back. Run into the ball to knock it into the air, then get it to bounce off Tommy's head. This adds the line "Highest score with Keepie-Uppy beach ball" to the Stats page.

    5 out of 5 stars Never Leave Home Without It..........2004-03-17

    Now THIS is a real videogame strategy guide. The official strategy guide for "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" is an extremely helpful little tool in your quest of chaos and mayhem. It'll help you out if you're in a tough jam or need to know how to get out of a rough situation pronto. The guide offers step-by-step descriptions of what should be done in order to complete all of the missions that are thrown in your way. Pictures are included, as well as alternate routes and techniques to get the job done.

    Not only is this guide helpful by just merely explaining the missions and how to achieve successful outcomes of those missions, but the guide also gives you some excellent tips and secrets. You also get complete profiles of weapons, cars, and your friends (along with your enemies). The guide helps you figure out what vehicle/weapon would be the most useful to you on certain missions. Full details of side missions are also at your disposal as well. A downside of the guide is that there are some typos and errors present. Looks like somebody doesn't like to proofread--although, I should be the LAST person to complain about such things. Besides, it's not like you're reading the guide for literary qualities.

    The guide is most useful when you use it as a reference tool. This meaning that you only refer to it when you are in a tough spot and do not know how to get out of it. Or, you're stuck on a certain mission and no matter how many times you attempt it, you end up either dead or arrested. Then, this is when the guide becomes the most helpful. The pure fun of the game itself is how unpredictable it is. There's always a nasty surprise that awaits you around every dark and trashy corner. So, I would not recommend that you use the guide for the entire duration of your joyriding in Vice City.

    This very well laid out strategy guide for "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" is a more than helpful tool that will get you out of many binds during your stay in Vice City. With excellent step-by-step mission layouts, colorful pictures, and detailed profiles on characters, vehicles and weapons, this proves to be a truly informative guide that no "Grand Theft Auto" fan should be without. Keep it close to you, is my advice to you. You never know when you're going to need it... -Michael Crane

    1 out of 5 stars Why pay for a strategy guide?.......2003-10-18

    This book is okay and moderately helpful, but why would you need to spend anything to get only one point of view on strategy for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City? Just go to GameFaqs.com and check out all the *free* stuff that has been written about this great game. (See: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/game/33074.html.) Waste your money, if you want, but at least check out GameFaqs.com before purchasing Bogenn's book.

    4 out of 5 stars great book.......2003-08-13

    this guide is a perfect complement to the game it, let get to the good points of this guide.

    2. it gives you a map with the hidden packages on it to get rewards.
    3.gives you a look at the cars, wepons,and planes
    but using it is like cheating. still great buy.

    ** UPDATE **
    BradyGames posted an update to their site with the missing information and error corrections (though it's not a complete list). See the end of this review for that updated information. You should still feel free to use the "Comments" feature to make this the official list of errors, as there are probably errors that BradyGames and myself may have missed.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The BradyGames Grand Theft Auto PlayStation 2 guides have had errors in the past. For example, the Grand Theft Auto 3 guide is missing information on some of the side jobs and non-mission tasks; the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas guide has incorrect screen shots and information on the Photo Ops. However, this guide is the absolute worst I have ever seen. It seems that the only difference between the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and PlayStation 2 (PS2) versions of the guide is the text at the bottom of the front cover and the controls listed on pages 3 and 4.
    The BIGGEST ERROR is that the PS2 exclusive content is not in the guide at all. These include 6 extra Unique Stunt Jumps, 5 extra Rampages (and 1 moved), and 6 extra Side Missions. The list is below, but for details see the PS2 Exclusive Content Guide (gamefaqs-DOT-com/console/ps2/file/938211/47835).
    * Unique Stunt Jump 1 - Little Havana
    * Unique Stunt Jump 2 - Starfish Island
    * Unique Stunt Jump 3 - Vice Point
    * Unique Stunt Jump 4 - Vice Point
    * Unique Stunt Jump 5 - Vice Port
    * Unique Stunt Jump 6 - Vice Port
    * Rampage 1 - Little Havana
    * Rampage 2 - Starfish Island
    * Rampage 3 - Downtown
    * Rampage 4 - Prawn Island
    * Rampage 5 - Vice Point
    * Rampage 6 - Ocean Beach
    * Side Mission - Playground On The Dock
    * Side Mission - Rush!
    * Side Mission - Hyman Memorial O.D.T.
    * Side Mission - Caddy Daddy
    * Side Mission - Playground At The Park
    * Side Mission - Crims On Water Wings
    The SECOND BIGGEST ERROR is that the guide lists tons of Multiplayer content that doesn't exist in the PS2 version. Details about this are included in the list of errors I found below.
    The THIRD BIGGEST ERROR would relate to incorrect mission-related information. I have not found much of it because I have just started playing the game, but I know that there are a lot of errors in there (all of which were undoubtedly in the PSP guide too). Some of the reviewers over here at Amazon have made mention of a few things (though I'm sure that there are many more errors).
    Here's the list of errors I've personally found, though again, this should not be seen as a complete list of errors:
    PAGE 1 - Table of Contents - The listing of "Multiplayer Scenarios" on page 30 (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 5 - The "Custom Tracks" section (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 5 - The "Saving Progress" section mentions saving to a Memory Stick and the Custom Tracks feature, both of which only apply to the PSP version.
    PAGE 25 - The VCPD Wintergreen name is on two lines instead of one. (This is just a cosmetic error and not a PSP/PS2 difference, but I thought I'd note it anyway.)
    PAGES 30-33 - All of these Multiplayer Missions are NOT in the PS2 version. Heck, the first paragraph even mentions PSP and UMD.
    PAGE 37 - The "Story Mode Missions" section mentions Multiplayer content (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGE 37 - Mentions 30 Unique Stunt Jumps and 30 Rampages - there are 36 Jumps and 35 Rampages in the PS2 version.
    PAGE 37 - The Multiplayer Unlockables: Vehicles section (feature non-existent in PS2 version).
    PAGES 38-40 - All of the information on these pages is for Multiplayer Missions which is NOT in the PS2 version.
    PAGE 41 - The Multiplayer "100% Game Completion Characters" column/section.
    PAGE 44 - The barber shop Red Balloon doesn't seem to be on the map. It should be a bit north of #20 listed on the map.
    PAGES 48-51, 157-158 - Only lists 30 Unique Stunt Jumps, while the PS2 version has 36.
    PAGES 52-56, 159-162 - Only lists 30 Rampages, while the PS2 version has 35 (and one was moved).
    PAGE 62 - The Hovercraft side mission says that it is available at the beginning of the game. This is false. The craft isn't there at the beginning of the game and probably doesn't appear until after the bridges open up (otherwise you could just use it to get to the second island early).
    PAGE 240 (LAST PAGE) - The "Printing Code" section says "For example, 06-1 shows that the first printing of the book occurred in 2007." It should say "07-1".
    BACK COVER - An interesting cosmetic error is that the sample pages shown as 14 and 15 are really 84 and 85 with some slight design changes.
    On several pages throughout the guide it says to press UP when in the PS2 version
    it would be R3:
    * PAGE 15 - The Ambulance description.
    * PAGE 16 - The Cabbie description.
    * PAGE 18 - The FBI Rancher, FBI Washington, and Fire Truck descriptions.
    * PAGE 19 - The Hunter description.
    * PAGE 21 - The Rhino description.
    * PAGE 24 - The Taxi, VCPD Cheetah, VCPD Cruiser, and VCPD Enforcer descriptions.
    * PAGE 25 - The VCPD Wintergreen description.
    * PAGE 57 - The Taxi Driver "Details" section.
    * PAGE 58 - The Paramedic "Details" section.
    * PAGE 59 - The Vigilante "Details" section.
    * PAGE 60 - The Fire Fighter "Details" section.
    * PAGE 110 - The "Cancelling Empire Missions" section.
    * PAGE 127 - The "Air Speed" section.
    * PAGE 163 - The Air Rescue "Details" section.
    Before I wrote this review, I wanted to give BradyGames the chance to do the right thing: recall the first printing, release a new correctly-written version, and offer replacements for all those folks who bought the vastly-erroneous first printing. In other words, wanted them to make a *REAL* PS2 version of the guide and give me a copy in exchange for the absolutely almost-useless "PlayStation 2" guide I bought that they currently have on the market (which they should recall and destroy - or rebrand as "for PlayStation Portable").
    Sadly, BradyGames not only chose NOT to do the right thing, they chose to simply ignore my e-mails altogether. Instead of boring you with the details, I tried for a month to get a hold of someone on the BradyGames staff via e-mail and phone. I found many of the personal staff addresses, but received no replies from any one of 21 staff members. Going the phone route was useless as I could not find their direct line - just customer service call centers for other departments of their parent company Penguin Putnam.
    Based upon the lack of response from BradyGames, it is obvious that they don't care about the products they release or their customers. Since the faulty product in question bears the Rockstar Games name, and is about one of their games, I thought that maybe they could help. After all, I certainly hoped that Rockstar would care more about their related products and have more respect for their customers than BradyGames does.
    So on May 18, 2007 I sent a message to Rockstar Games (usa-AT-rockstarsupport-DOT-com) telling them of the situation. The next day I received a reply from James Brett which said, "Thank you the e-mail to ourselves here at rockstar support but we are only a technical support team and will not be able to help you on this matter unfortunately." Okay, that's understandable. I sent a reply asking who I can contact at Rockstar that *would* be able to help me. Obviously that would be someone in the main or corporate offices, and surely they have e-mail addresses. If the support department can't help me, then I'd like for them to point me in the right direction. I have yet to receive another reply, and I doubt that I will.
    At this point, there's really nothing else I could do except to warn people of the massive and major flaws found in the PlayStation 2 version of the Vice City Stories guide and advise them not to buy it. If BradyGames doesn't want to listen to me, maybe they'll listen to the poor sales.
    ** UPDATE FROM BRADYGAMES**
    Over two months after the book has been released, BradyGames finally posted some updates on their site with the missing information and error corrections. Of course, this is only a "patch" for the problem, and not a solution. They should recall all copies of the First Printing, add this new information and corrections, and offer revised copies (Second Printing?) free-of-charge to all of the people who bought the error-ridden First Printing. It isn't nice to make the customers download and print out several pages of new information and make hand-written corrections.
    Here is the information from the BradyGames site:
    3 out of 5 stars The game is different to the PSP but the guide isn't.......2007-05-13
    As usual having any decent guide for a Grand Theft Auto title is more than useful and this guide still has some very helpful maps and guides to the various items and activities found in Vice City Stories. The most glaring issue is that this is a copy of the PSP version guide - it even has the multiplayer elements left in it and doesn't cover the PS2 specific elements in any detail (or at all). Helpful, but a lazy effort from Brady unfortunately.
    2 out of 5 stars Hmmm..........2007-05-13
    Annoyingly inaccurate for most of the side missions. Completely missing some information. It was however helpful for some of the story missions.
    5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Guide!!!.......2007-04-12
    As always Brady Games introduce a fansy guide for Grand Theft series. It shows all missions,weapons,items,..... ALL WHAT YOU NEED TO GET 100%
    2 out of 5 stars What is this?!!.......2007-03-18
    I bought this book two days ago and I think that they did'nt even change the guide from the PSP. All the screenshots are on the PSP. Many of the Jumps, Pampages, and missions are wrong. DON'T BUY.
    3 out of 5 stars Grand Theft Auto III .......2006-06-15
    This review applies only to the GTAIII section of the guide, as I have not yet had chance to use the Vice City half.
    This guide is very useful in navigating your way through the main story missions, but if you're looking for 100%, it falls short. We'll start with what it does right. Story missions are organized into the three islands of the game and the person who gives them. Several of these contain "advanced strategies" that usually make that particular mission a cakewalk. The more basic strategies walk you through every step of the way and are helpful enough to ensure you complete the majority of the game.
    But this is GTA, and as you may know, there's alot more to it. Tons of side missions are required to obtain that coveted 100% statistic, and in this category the guide is a huge let down. Hidden packages are done well, with maps and brief descriptions of the location of each one. Rampages and unique jumps, on the other hand, are handled only by maps. With the latter, you can arrive at the specified spot and not know what to use as a ramp (it's not always obvious), how far you have to fly to get the jump to register, and so on. Rampages are even worse. If you fail them at one location, the icon initiating it moves to a different spot. The maps in here only mark ALL the first locations and ALL the second locations of the rampages with the same two icons (which are also hard to see on these tiny maps) with no indication of which ones match up with which. Some of the hardest tasks in the game are four different offroad mission throughout. Only the basic rules are outlined, with no explanation of how exactly to complete them, something you'll desperately need. The entire guide is set up this way, and supplementary printoffs from the internet WILL be required if you wish to do everything. From what I've seen and heard, the Vice City guide is much better off. Either way, for the price, it's worth getting for what it does do correctly.
    2 out of 5 stars A good starting point but not enough and needs improvement.......2003-12-28
    This Strategy Guide lays a basic foundation for a richer gaming experience with GTA III and Vice City.
    You get a bunch of little sectional views from different areas of, for example, Vice City (Ocean Beach, Starfish Island, Downtown, etc.), but these make navigating throughout these games anything but smooth. You won't find a single, comprehensive map detailing all of the packages, weapons, mission locations, sub-missions, etc. in here. I had to keep flipping back and forth to compile the info I wanted.
    Another thing is that this guide has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the way of cheats -- button combinations which, when executed in the proper sequence, restore your health, give you armor, different arrays of weaponry like a Rocket Propelled Grenade launcher, flame thrower, mini-gun, MP5, PSG-1 S/A sniper rifle, etc. Or make a Rhino (Tank) plop in front of you on a street letting you take a drive (roll?) over to the local Police station to deliver your own high explosive brand of support. I didn't even know Cheats were available for the Xbox version of GTA III/Vice City until I found out about them while reading a gaming mag while in line at the supermarket! Had I read only this "complete walkthrough" guide, I never would've found out!
    Do an online search for Vice City Xbox (or PS2, etc) Cheats and you'll get higher grade intel than anyhing you might find in this guide.
    On a positive note, this guide IS a very good source of general reference material, providing a full write up on all weapons, cars, basic Crayola-grade maps, nicely arranged mission descriptions, and info on the different, colorful personalities found in these two RockStar Games.
    I'm not a professional gamer, just an average American consumer with an Xbox at home, so take my review with a grain of salt. Then again, it seems to me that professional gamers might not really need this book in any case. Do you need this book?
      5 out of 5 stars Comparison of PS2 to XBOX and PC Version.......2007-10-02
      I have owned both versions of this guide, and I ended up giving away the PS2 Version. It was very inaccurate in some of the locations of items. For a specifice example, the locations of the Photo ops in San Fierro. The locations were not accurate, and not even matched up correctly by number. Even some of the horseshoe locations were completely inaccurate that they were not even the correct location, which annoyed me because I spent a large amount of time searching for something that was not there. I own a PS2, but I use the XBOX & PC version because of its accuracy. There is no real difference, as the guide does not tell you which button needs to be pressed, so the XBOX version still fits.
      Also, for those who I know are curious, the XBOX version gives more insight on the dating and "coffee" aspects, unlike the PS2, which skips over it.
      3 out of 5 stars Complicated to use!.......2007-05-15
      This guide is in NO WAY easy to use. No index or table of content, and being as big as it is it's not easy to search through without them. However the content is very good, but you can save yourself some money and just Google 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas online strategy guide' and you'll find one with the same info,help,tips,secrets,etc you need to complete the game with 100% progress for free.
      5 out of 5 stars GTA fan.......2007-05-12
      This guide is very well laid out. It will help you if you get stuck. It helps you find some of the bonuses in the game. I only use it when I get frustrated
      4 out of 5 stars More a hintbook than a Strategy Guide.......2005-10-06
      The book was excellent but for those who have a PC would prefer the
      X BOX hints also have hints for PC. The light was shining on those who had X BOX not a PC. It does not suggest any of the schools which makes it difficult for those who have trouble, lets say in driving school.
      5 out of 5 stars Good book!.......2005-08-19
      I actually just found out that Bradygames released 2 books, (PS2, and XBOX + PC) for this game. This XBOX + PC Book is almost completely accurate in terms of where it says items or locations should be. Well, I should say that the maps in the "Odd Jobs" chapter are 100% accurate. The maps in the beginnings of the other chapters are -slightly- off (no idea why though), but if you like to explore in the GTA games, a rough location plus a description is all you need!
      Lots of maps, Racing maps, weapon locations, actual mission descriptions + storyline, a huge "Odd Jobs" chapter explaining every THING you can do if you're not on a mission, sprays, camera shots, horseshoes, bike jumps (unique stunt bonuses), and oysters will keep you busy for a long time if you're after the 100% completion mark. In addition, the last 5 things I mentioned above have in-game pictures in case you just can't find it.
      I recommend it. It makes a good addition to the game itself.
      get the book it help me to play the game & win
      4 out of 5 stars A little disappointed..........2004-11-10
      Okay, firstly, I'm a little late on the GTA:VC thing. Only just bought the PC version in November 2004. At any rate, after being faced with the myriad of possibilities within the game, and the challenges that the many missions and rampages introduced, I opted to purchase the game guide to help me along to the coveted 100% completion.
      I typically buy a game guide for any semi-complex game I play on my PC. But this one by far has to be the worst. As far as the missions, rampages, etc are concerned, the guide offered little information over what could be found online or within the game itself.
      There is however, a complete guide to all the vehicles, which may be handy to some, but not really for me. Missions are somewhat detailed, with accompanying maps, but generally contain wordy overviews. A series of maps round out this flimsy tome, all of which can be found in various incarnations online.
      One glaring oversight is a map/chart for all controls. The bulk of the info you find online is related to the PS2 version, and the manual that ships with the game itself lacks detail. In particular, controls for helicopters never seem to be mentioned in the guide. I'm still trying to find out how to increase my health by means of the local prostitutes.
      Overall, it's nice to have a book (albeit a slim one, only 192 pages) to refer to while playing the game, but it lacks any real advantage over trial-and-error, or by looking info up online. I'm just glad I had a $5 Amazon gift certificate, otherwise I would have felt a lot more cheated.
      Can't solve the missions? Can't find the hidden packages? This book is for you. Of course, it doesn't hurt to improvise to use your own ideas too. The game contains a real funny prize at the end of the game.
      5 out of 5 stars Kick Arse Guide For A Kick Arse Game (yes arse not ass)........2003-12-02
      This is the single greatest guide for a game. I had already finished the best game in the world, twice, before i bought the book. I have to say, "thankyou Tim Bogenn for writing a Arse Guide For A Kick Arse Game" Must go and play Vice City.
      Great book
      4 out of 5 stars A must to complete the game..........2003-06-15
      If you want to complete Vice City with 100% completion, you need to get a copy of this book. Sure, you can find the same information online, but it is much easier to use this convenient manual which gives you the locations and information you need to finish the game. Some of the information in the book could have been expressed more clearly, but it is still a great companion to the game. Recommended!
      5 out of 5 stars This is a MUST for all the 100% COMPLETION Hunters..........2005-11-12
      As I almost passed all the story-line missions, I looked at my stats and realized that I only completed 43% of the game. I realized that there were some rampages and races that I didn't complete, but I still knew that I missed a lot of game here! I bought this guide and it made me realized that there are side missions out there that I didn't even knew existed like "Avenging Angels" or "See the Sight Before Your Flight" side missions.
      This is a huge 225-page guide full of stats, maps and pictures that give you how-to-walkthrough of every mission. There is also a vehicle "showroom" section that shows you every single vehicle in the game, including vehicle's speed and handling score. The same is done for weapons sections.
      This guide includes every nook and crany; however, if you are an expert, you may not need a lot of stuff that is in there. For example, it tells you what exactly going one during wanted levels(1-star is where one cop chases you...and 6-star is where the military takes over, etc.) If you're an expert, you may not need that information, but its still nice to know its there, as this guide is for a GTA expert and GTA newbie alike.
      Also, I did find some misc. errors in the guide. On a map where the parked vehicles are shown, it states that Deimos SP is parked on the Cedar Grove highway, when in fact, its Phobos VT that is parked there. I'm sure there are a few minor errors here and there, but its hard to penalize the overall score based on that because the positives heavily outweight the negaives.
      The final 50 pages of the guide are a MUST for anyone who wants to beat the game 100%. It gives you details of all the side missions, as well as, a full-page map, which shows you where every rampage and hidden package is located. Also, shows you where every weapon and police bribe is located as well as payphones where you have contacts calling you for street races.
      Bottom Line: There are websites out there which will tell you how to beat the game, so you may not want to buy this game for walkthrough alone. However, if you want to 100% complete this game, this is a must, especially it being a $10 bargain.
      4 out of 5 stars Great contents and strategies but bad quality printing........2002-12-17
      I never have the PS2 version of this book, so I can't compare both version. Just wanted to ammend extra to Dr. Paul C. Graviano reviews, and personal point of view as I never seen the PS2 version.
      This book is great, however, I still spotted many mistakes that should be fixed. Some of the hidden packages on the map are marked in wrong location. One of them is on the pier, when I went there but couldn't find it, actually it was on the OTHER pier further up. Some of the hidden packages discription & screenshots are misplaced. Don't rely too much or totally on this guide, use your imagination. it will be much more fun.
      I use this guide to help me to locate hidden packages, rampages location, unique stunts, secrets and path for checkpoint-to-checkpoint missions. Which is very handy as reference.
      Map arrangement could be improved, I hate to flip for description at the back of the page everytime I needs them. It would be better if the map placed on the left page; description on the right page.
      However, the paper quality is kind of bad, which can easily peel off. And due to bad maps arrangement, causes too many flipping front and back vice versa, the pages actually peel off from book, and I actually forget about the main portion as I only need the map ;)
      If you are buying this book, make sure you get it stamped before start reading.
      5 out of 5 stars By Far the BEST Strategy Guide I have ever read!.......2002-10-03
      Okay for anyone who thinks I may be writing an overly kind review, refer to the one I wrote for the Strategy guide for the PS2 version of this game! Needless to say I was somewhat underwhelmed by the book written for GTA 3 for the PS2.
      HOWEVER!!! Everything that I conplained about and I mean EVERYTHING that was wrong with the PS2 version strategy guide was addressed and fixed in this version. Apparenly the guy who wrote this book played GTA 3 a lot and it showed in the incredibly detailed and powerfully enthusiastic manner in which the book was written. Where one map would have done okay as in the firt book, he gave you several, all with different colors and excellently labeled icons!
      His depiction of mission levels including the Off Road missions (which by the way were all but completely ignored by his predecessor) were written with precision and step by step, easy to follow directions.
      One example of the differences in the two books:
      Hidden packages map: THe first strategy guide for the PS2 gives a map of each island and a little icon corresponding to the package location, and on the adjacent page a shore sentence telling you where each one is.
      In this new book, there are not only maps and FAR MORE detailed explanations of the packages but little thumbnail screenshots showing EVERY package in it's "in game" location! Talk about going the extra mile!!!
      While the first attermpt at a strategy guide is more of a glorified hints and tips manual that reads as if it were slapped together after the author went through the game once or twice quickly at most, this book is a bona fide walkthrough of every single facet of the game.
      Oh and if you are buying GTA 3 on PS2 and not on the PC? BUY THIS GUIDE ANYWAY! Forget the PS2 version's guide, trust me! You just have to get used to the differences in the control scheme is all. But you will thank me for it later on. Hey if you need the control buttons, the game itself comes with a manual!
      In short, while the PS2 guide did have its very limited usage, it becomes all but completely pointless in light of the bigger, better and far more enlightening strategy Guide that was written for the PC, and again this is true even if you only own the PS2 version and have no intention of buying the PC port of the game!
