Book Description

Raised in the wild by intelligent, language-using wolves, in her teens Firekeeper was abducted back into the lands of men, where her upbringing as a wolf helped her survive the deadly intrigues of human beings. One of the first things she learned in Hawk Haven was that magic was a thing to be feared and despised. Long ago, all the human kingdoms were ruled by powerful sorcerers. Then a plague came and the sorcerers died. Nobody misses them. Much was lostbut still, nobody misses them. Yet as Firekeeper has travelled and grown wiser in the ways of human beings, shes learned that the true story was more complex. In coming to the country of the Liglim, she, Derian Carter, and Blind Seer discovered that magic is still working in the world, and that it isnt always the evil theyd been warned against. But it also turned out that the old plague specifically targeted magic users. And when Firekeeper and her friends learned to open the gates between worlds, the plague came back with them. Firekeeper, Blind Seer, and Derian Carter survived the plague: not unchanged, but still themselves. Now Firekeeper is determined to learn the nature of the plagueand if she can, to end it forever.

5 out of 5 stars Firekeeper Expands Horizons.......2007-09-15

Wolf's Blood (2007) is the sixth fantasy novel in the Wolf series, following Wolf Hunting. In the previous volume, Firekeeper and Blind Seer foiled a group of Nexans attempting to open a gate to escape from the island. Afterward, those from the New World called a general meeting of the Nexans to decide their next move, giving them the choice of cooperation or exile. Meddler asked for a favor from Firekeeper, taking a kiss to allow him to manifest on Nexus.

In this novel, five months later, the conquerors of Nexus are stymied due to the dangers of querinalo -- the Fire Plague -- to any newcomers with magical abilities. Having no way of identifying those with magic, reinforcements cannot be brought in from the New World. Since Blind Seer caught the illness, they are even afraid to bring in more yarimaimalom.

Meddler interrupts Firekeeper's dreams to suggest that she search for the source of the illness. The Nexans start looking through their archives, but the ruling council also sends Firekeeper to the New World to ask for assistance from the maimalodalum. The combined searches indicate that querinalo is really a curse developed by a sorcerer named Virim. Firekeeper and Blind Seer set off to find Virim or his descendents.

Firekeeper and Blind Seer travel back to the New World through a gate terminating in New Kelvin. After exiting the gate, they discover Grateful Peace and Citrine waiting for them. Explaining their presence, they arrange for periodic contacts through the gate and resume their journey.

In this story, the Old World nations discover that the Nexus gates are blocked. King Bryessidan of Mires is one of the first to be informed and he calls a meeting of interested parties to discuss the situation. Six other nations send emissaries to the meeting in the Kingdom of the Mires.

The ambassadors, emissaries and Once Dead at the meeting conclude that the government of Nexus has changed hands. They decide to force the gates and invade Nexus. King Hurwin suggests a simultaneous sea invasion of the island. Planning and plotting begin immediately.

This story brings several plot threads to resolution, but not to any final conclusion. Magic seems to be destined to play a more prominent part in the expanded culture of the Old and New Worlds. The new plot elements really deserve a sequel.

Highly recommended for Lindskold fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of magical powers, realpolitik and unusual relationships.

3 out of 5 stars Far from Lindskold's best.......2007-09-03

Books 1-3 of this series I loved, books 4-6 I liked less well, with book #6 Wolf's Blood, being my least favorite. But I did finish it. In Wolf Hunting (#5) they came to the Nexus Islands. In this book they must defend the Islands from their trading partners who find the magical gates closed. Meanwhile, they have made many friends whose aid they enlist in the struggle. Also, there is much search for identity in this novel: are you who you look like, feel like, or who you love? And who does Firekeeper love? Trust is important to this novel, should she and the others trust the Meddler?. How much? But mostly, this is a dense, hard to read, ultimately, to me, unfulfilling novel.
I'd recommend Wen Spencer's Ukiah Oregon series, with somewhat similar plotlines and questions, instead...
I'd also recommend Lindskold's own Brother to Dragons, Companion to Owls, which is not at all similar.

4 out of 5 stars Still worth the read.......2007-05-22

The series is still going strong and managing to bring ever new elements into play.
Some long time characters are a bit neglected (e.g. Elise) some make a bit of a reappearance (e.g. Grateful Peace), many of the Yarimaimalom stay two dimensional while other new/newish characters take up the gap.
Firekeeper and Blind Seer further mature as does their relationship.
The Old World characters become alive only to go back to being mostly ignored toward the end. So the book could have done with a bit more cohesion between and within the characters but the plot was always interesting.

This all sounds a bit mixed but I did enjoy the read and would definitely buy the book again if I hadn't already.

4 out of 5 stars Great book, great series.......2007-05-15

According to the author this is the last book in the series. I have enjoyed all the books in this collection, some more than others. This is one of the 'more than others' books. The author has done a good job of tying up many loose ends, although I wish more time could have been spend with some of the characters, I guess there is only so much room in a book.
To really appreciate this book a reader should be familiar with the story line. I would recommend reading the earlier books in the series.
I also can't help but wonder, given the ending of the book, if the author hasn't left a bit of room for another book.

3 out of 5 stars not what I expected.......2007-05-13

Wolf's Blood isn't really what I expected. I couldn't wait to read the others in the series; but this one seems to have gotten off track some how. I read 3 other books while reading it. Kinda a let down.

5 out of 5 stars Non-Western Blood Magic.......2002-11-29

Unlike the previous Blood Magic book, this book explores non-western and non-Tremere blood magics. After all, Assamite sorcerers, undead Brahmins and Setite mystics have their own dark secrets far older than the upstart Tremere. If you intend on using non-western Thaumaturgy a lot, this book is almost required. The mechanics are explored for each form of Blood Magic, but the most important aspect is that the philosophy behind each form is explored in detail. Common beliefs, spiritual connections and mystic tools are given for every style.
The first section focuses on Akhu, the dead magics of Egypt which the Setites have become so well known for. While not exclusive to the Followers of Set, the small handful of other Egyptian vampires who practice Akhu still honor Set in their practices. This chapter goes into great detail on Egyptian mysticism and beliefs, explaining important Egyptian Gods and Goddesses (yes, including Set) and beliefs in the underworld. Most of the Paths used in Akhu are already existing Thaumaturgy Paths called by Egyptian names (Sutekh's Valor and Path of Anubis for example), but there are lots of specific rituals for Setite mystics as well. There are also a couple new paths, such as Ushabti (creating working servants) and Path of Duat (underworld magic).
Assamite fans will be pleased by the next chapter, covering Dur-An-Ki, the magics of the ancient Middle East. Drawing on everything from ancient Mesopotamian, Hittite, Persian and Assyrian rites to Jewish qabbala to Christian and Islamic mysticism to Neo-Platonic philosophy, this is a pretty potent collection of traditions (both living and dead). Although dominated by Assamite sorcerers, it also is known by some Middle Eastern Brujah, Hajj Nosferatu, Mithraic Ventrue and many other Mid-Eastern ashipu. Special notice is made that there is a schism between older practicioners, who lierally worship Mithras, Marduk, Dagon and so forth, and younger practicioners, many of whom are Jews, Christians or Muslims. Again, most of the paths and rituals are regular Thauamturgy with names made more "Arabic" or "Mid-Eastern". Alot of the names come from the revised Assamite clanbook. However, there are some new rituals, many based off Arab folklore and Mesopotamian mythology. There are also some new paths, like the Evil Eye (self-explanatory) and Covenant of Nergal (disease magics).
Sadhana, tantric blood magic of India, is explored next. This magic is steeped very heavily in Hindu belief, which isn't too unusual. However, the way that vampires interpert Hinduism is somewhat different from the way that living Hindus do. Nonetheless, this is still an excellent chapter. This magic, is should be noted, is the exclusive property of the Brahmin class and, as such, is unique almost entirely to the Setites, Ventrue and Ravnos, the ruling castes in India. Notes on Hindu beliefs (and vampiric perversions thereoff) along with Hindu Gods and various Indian symbols and beliefs are given. Again, most paths are already existing Thauamturgical paths, though there are plenty of new rituals (some of which are quite potent). New Paths, including the long awaited Path of Karma, and the Blood-Nectar Path (which, incidentally, the Assamites know a variation of) are given.
Finally, we also get a look at Wanga, blood magics that were spawned from Afro-Carribean traditions. As might be expected, Wanga is used primarily by the Serpents of Light, Samedi and other Kindred from that region. The section explores the beliefs of various Afro-Carribean faiths, with the majority being devoted to Voudon, Santeria and Palo Mayombe. As could be expected, Wanateurs need to believe in one (or more) of these religions to use Wanga. Important Loas, Orishas and Nikisi are explored, along with commmon tools in Voudon. Again, most common Thaumaturgy paths and rituals are used in Wanga, along with some unique rituals. New Paths, including Voice of the Wild (an animal based path), are given. This chapter does briefly mention that similar magics are used in Africa, but it doesn't go into details. Presumably, more on African blood magic will be explored in Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom.
The book closes out with a Storyteller section, which gives some more Rituals for both Koldunic Sorcery and Voudon Necromany, and some odds and ends. There is alot of information on "spontaneous talismans" and how to use them in your Chronicles. There is also a write-up for the Tlacique, an Aztec/Mayan/Incan bloodline of Setites, and their own blood magics. Drawing from Olmec, Toltec, Aztec, Mayan, Incan and other traditions, this is pretty dark and gruesome stuff. The Path of Xipe Totec is pretty nasty!
All in all, this is an excellent book. Players of Assamites will definately appreciate how fleshed out Dur-An-Ki has become, while anyone who wanted to use Setite blood magics will appreciate the fleshing out of Egyptian, Indian, Voudon/Santerian and Aztec/Mayan/Incan blood magics. Given the heavy focus on Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, this could also be appropriate for running "Year of the Scarab" games or Mummy-crossovers (or you could use the Tlacique and their magics if you want to crossover with the South American Capacocha). Regardless of how you use it though, this book can be very useful for both players and STs.

5 out of 5 stars If You Love Thaum..........2002-08-13

For thaumaturgy fans, this book is a great resource. Not needed or reccommended for new players/ST's, or those using blood magic purely as an offhanded filler. But, for those who want to immerse their players or characters in the world of thaumaturgy, this resource has fantastic info on non-Tremere paths and rituals, including a "lost" bloodline.

5 out of 5 stars An ESSENTIAL SUPPLEMENT!.......2006-01-16

In my opinion, and I know many disagree, the Werewolf core book didn't do enough justice to the possibility of werewolves living in cities. This book takes care of that problem very well, having large sections of the book dedicated to how werewolves fit into the urban or suburban environment, as well as expanded sections on wilderness areas.

Additionally, it allows the Storyteller to make a wolf-blooded character based on a sliding-scale, rather than the absolute presented in the Forsaken core book.

This is a great book. If you buy one supplement for Werewolf the Forsaken, this should be at least in the top three (other two: Lore of the Forsaken and Predators) if not the top position. Especially if you want your characters to be in a city during your story.

Book Description

"Ripper Notes: Written in Blood" is a collection of essays about the famous unidentified serial killer Jack the Ripper and related topics. Julie Stangeland starts things off with a look at a rarely-seen photograph of the Whitechapel division of London's Metropolitan Police in which, the author argues, Inspector Frederick Abberline can be identified here for the first time. David A. Green then names John Barlas, a Victorian decadent poet and anarchist who was locked up in asylums for the rest of his life shortly after the Whitechapel murders, as the previously unknown lunatic Ripper suspect described in a contemporary newspaper account. Vance McLaughlin follows with a look at three early serial killers in the United States who wrote messages to police and their victims' families. John Bennett reports on his first-hand examination of a 'Dear Boss' letter signed Jack the Ripper and dated September 17, 1888, but that may be a modern hoax slipped into the National Archives to mislead researchers. Tom Wescott has two essays: the first compares the wounds on Polly Nichols, the first canonical Ripper victim, to other area murders, and the second examines the various individuals named "McCarthy" living on Dorset Street in London's East End to try to determine which was the landlord of victim Mary Jane Kelly. Don Souden then argues that John McCarthy was not just a grocer but also Kelly's pimp, and Stephen P. Ryder contributes some Victorian letters to the editor discussing the problems of pimps of prostitution. Dan Norder presents four period paintings to see if a conclusion can be made about which, if any, was featured in "The Fisherman's Widow" print found in Kelly's room at the time of her death. Wolf Vanderlinden reports from the 2006 Jack the Ripper conference in Baltimore, Maryland; Kelly Robinson reviews a production of Chris George and Erik Sitbon's "Jack - The Musical" in Charlotte, North Carolina; and various writers critique a number of recent Ripper books and DVD. Profusely illustrated with photos and engravings from the Victorian era, Ripper Notes is a nonfiction anthology series covering all aspects of the Jack the Ripper case.

3 out of 5 stars Issue #26, steady as she goes.......2006-11-01

The next installment of Ripper Notes is 'Written in Blood', Issue #26. In comparison to other issues, it's par for the course but not fantastic. Here's the basic rundown:
1. Pictures of Division H which may contain a possible photo of Det. Abberline but no proof it's actually him.
2. Article on suspect John Barlas the poet
3. Article on how handwritten letters helped to capture the likes of HH Holmes, Albert Fish, and J. Frank Hickey.
4. A purported 'Dear Boss' letter dated 9-17-1888, is it authentic or a modern day hoax.
5. Possibility of two John McCarthy's living at the Dorset Street address, one being the landlord of Mary Kelly, the other being a grocer.
6. Was John McCarthy serving as a pimp to Mary Jane Kelly and other prostitutes in Miller's Ct?
7. Letters to the Editor during the murders. Content based on brothels and 'bullies' (pimps).
8. Article on just what was the painting print found in Mary Kelly's room.
9. Another re-examining of the Bucks Row murder of Polly Nichols
10. A review of the U.S. Ripper conference.
11. "Jack - the Musical" article
12. Regular feature - news articles regarding suspects and a rebuffing of some suspects.
13. Regular feature - Book reviews... look for the fiction book Sojourn.

Overall - average with a few decent articles but nothing really stimulating. I could have done without #7, 8, 10, & 11; they seemed like filler material. I always enjoy #12 & 13.

5 out of 5 stars Back on track!!!!.......2006-09-03

The last issue #25 seemed like it was full of filler material. However, this issue is chalked full of good articles and pictures. For the first time ever, a picture of Frederick Abberline, Mary Kelly's landlord, and a lot more articles of interest!

Book Description

In the past hundred years, since the publication of Bram Stoker's infamous book, no literary figure has enjoyed a more horrific resiliency than Count Dracula. In film, television, novels, and short stories, he keeps coming back to life, fed by the vital imaginative energies of a world-wide audience that cannot seem to resist his abominable charms. Aristocratic and urbane, deeply erotic and profoundly evil, Dracula's bloodsucking savagery has cast a mesmerizing fascination not only over his victims but over his readers as well. And, as Leonard Wolf suggests, "Vampire fiction...exerts an amazing pull on readers for a reason that we may find disturbing. The blood exchange--the taking of blood by the vampire from his or her victim is, all by itself, felt to be a singularly symbolic event. Symbolic and attractive!" Now, in Blood Thirst: One Hundred Years of Vampire Fiction, Leonard Wolf brings together thirty tales in which vampires of all varieties make their ghastly presence felt--male and female, human and non-human, humorous and heroic--all of them kin to the dreadful bat. From Lafcadio Hearn, Mary E. Wilkins-Freeman, Edith Wharton, August Derleth, and Ray Bradbury to such contemporary masters as Anne Rice, Stephen King, Joyce Carol Oates, John Cheever, and Woody Allen, and in settings as diverse as rural New England and outer space, this collection offers readers a dazzling compendium of vampire stories. Wolf organizes the collection into six categories--The Classic Adventure Tale, The Psychic Vampire, The Science Fiction Vampire, The Non-Human Vampire, The Comic Vampire, and The Heroic Vampire--which allows readers to see the many guises Dracula's descendants have assumed and the many ways they can be interpreted. In his penetrating introduction, Wolf argues that such an arrangement enables us to see the evolution of the vampire from an unmitigated evil to a creature we are more likely to identify with. "In a century in which God and Satan have become increasingly irrelevant in the popular arts, there has been an accompanying secularization of the vampire idea. And, as the stories in Blood Thirst will show, sympathy for the vampire has grown as we have become increasingly interested in the workings of the mind." Indeed, the vampire's ability to change over time, to draw into itself such a richness of symbolic meanings, to conjure itself into so many diabolical shapes, may account for the enduring appeal of the literature written about it. Here, then, is a definitive collection for aficionados and novices alike, and whether readers find the vampires who inhabit these pages sympathetic or horrific, psychologically intriguing or spiritually repellent, morbidly seductive or comically absurd, Blood Thirst gives us all something to sink our teeth into.

5 out of 5 stars Great for the Vampire within .......2007-01-26

Thirty tales of vampire fiction, from the classical blood sucker to science fiction monster to the comic relief. From such great authors as Anne Rice and Stephen King, to interesting choices such as Woody Allen and Hanns Heinz Ewers, and authors I love such as Tanith Lee and Richard Matheson (who are also great), we get a ton of vampire literature. If there is a style of vampire story you like this is the book to get and the best part is if you discover a new author who pushes your buttons you can go find their works. And if they don't push your button you have 29 other stories to make you happy.
Read! Feast! Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars A must for horror/vampire fans.......2000-04-04

This novel brings together works of so many amazing talented writers: Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Anne Rice, Tanith Lee, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Algernon Blackwood, Joyce Carol Oates...just to name a few! Be on the lookout for "Count Dracula" by Woody Allen; whether you love him or hate him, this short story is a hoot!

This one lets you sink your teeth into some quick, sometimes chilling, sometimes humorous, sometimes just plain weird vampire stories. It will also introduce you to some incredible authors, and I bet you'll race to buy more of their works. Wolf breaks down this collection into categories: The Classic Adventure Tale; The Psychological Vampire; The Science Fiction Vampire; The Non-Human Vampire; The Comic Vampire; and The Heroic Vampire. Horror and vampire fans will recognize some of these stories (King's is an excerpt of SALEM'S LOT) from other novels or collections. But this one is a tasty treat (yes, all puns intended) that I found delightful!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Collection of Stories.......1998-07-15

I great collection of modern vampire stories. Several of the stories are actually chapters from longer novels, which only entices the reader to read those novels too. Wonderful read, but with the lights on!

"Even the Damned have taboos", reads the back side of the book.
One of the greatest is Amaranth, also known as Diablerie.
"Sins of the blood" covers many topics that hadn't been covered before in the Revised edition. Some info from "Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand" re-appears here, like the weird Path of Enlightenment of the True Brujah, and the infamous "Ritual of the Bitter Rose", that gives the Diablerie a very interesting edge, since it permits a whole coterie (or pack) to benefit from one single Amaranth victim.
The book also covers interesting information on Autarkis, and what happens to you if you switch sects; it deals with cults and gives you an idea of how you(r vampire character :)) can start one, and get loads of moronic cultists, to do all the unpleasantness for you!

This book is very interesting. I'm not very sure if the people that buy sourcebooks only "for the extra dots" will like it (well, maybe the Thaumaturgy paths and rituals might make it a good buy for them). On the other hand, for the people who look for background information, it is a very interesting buy. It isn't as essential as, say, the Vampire Storytellers Handbook, but it looks nice on the shelf and it can add many good ideas to your ongoing chronicle.
So, if you like to portray "deviants", either as Player Character or as Storyteller Character, in your chronicle, this can be a good add-on to your VtM collection. But tread lightly... the powers-that-be frown on unusual behavior, and those things they don't understand, they want them Finally Dead...

4 out of 5 stars A Greek Tragedy of an American Jewish Family!.......2006-08-06

I read a lot of real crime books that gets gory but I think this book got to me. I remember watching the mini-series with Mimi Rogers as Melody Woodman, Elliot Gould as Stewart Woodman, Sam WAnamaker as Gerald Woodman and Kim Hunter as Vera WOodman. Reading this book answered a lot of questions that the mini-series never fully explained but just skimmed the surface. It's a Greek style tragedy with nobody winning. The Woodmans had a lot more than most of us. They had wealth, servants, and lived a lifestyle where only we can imagine. Sadly, they weren't happy. Gerald Woodman didn't deserve his tragic fate but he was not at all blameless. Poor Vera Woodman suffered a marriage that produced 5 children and knew her husband had affairs and produced a daughter. I don't believe for a moment that Stewart and Neil were convicted because of anti-Semitism. They were convicted because they were guilty of planning a horrendous murder on the end of the holiest day of the Jewish year. Like I wrote, I read a lot of gory true crime books but I think because Neil and Stewart could be the guys next door, family men, husbands, and fathers, made it more frightful. They were broke and in debt but spent money wildly. They help bankrupt their parents. Of course, it was no surprise they were murdered and the police asked who could have done something so horrible and they just Neil and Stewart which goes to show that this could happen to any family. I recommend the mini-series highly. Just because you have money, wealth, and live well doesn't mean that you're happy. My heart goes to the Woodman family wherever they are and to the people of Manchester Plastic Products.

    4 out of 5 stars "UNBELIEVABLE.....BUT TRUE!!!!!".......2005-11-02

AS THE "VICE PRESIDENT" OF MANCHESTER PRODUCTS COMPANY, AND VERY
CLOSE TO "STEWART WOODMAN".....MORE LIKE A BROTHER TO HIM..THAN
THE BOOK WILL REVEAL "HE EVER HAD!".....
IT SEEMS THAT TIME HAS PASSED, SINCE THE HORRIFIC FACTS THAT MADE THIS BOOK A "REALITY".....BUT THE SHOCK AND HORROR AND MEMORIES STILL LINGER...AS TO WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN 1985!!!
EVERYTHING CHANGED.....FOR ME, MY FAMILY AND EVERYONE AROUND US..
NOW IN 2005....ALTHOUGH THE DETAILS OF THIS BOOK SOMEWHAT HAVE PASSED IN TIME..THE PAIN AND SUFFERING STILL REMAINS AS TO REMEMBERING "WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED IN THIS "OUTWARDLY EXOTIC WEALTHY CHARASMATIC FAMILY".....HOW IT HAPPENED AND OF COURSE EVERYONE SINCE 1985 ASKED ME: W H Y ?????
STEWART AND NEIL HAVE BEEN IN PRISON SINCE 1986...AND ALTHOUGH MANY YEARS HAVE PASSED....THE PUNISHMENT WILL NEVER FIT THE CRIME OF WHAT THEY DID TO THEIR PARENTS ON THEIR RELIGIOUS HOLY DAY...AND LITERALLY CHANGED ALL OF LIVES SO "DRASTICALLY" THAT
WORDS COULD NEVER EXPLAIN THE FEELINGS THAT COME OVER ALL OF US WHOM WERE THE "SILENT VICTIMS" WHO ARE MENTIONED IN THIS BOOK....
YET NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT....AFTER THE MANY YEARS OF TRIALS AND
MEDIA COVERAGE WHICH ENSUED AFTER SEPTEMBER 12, 1985.
LIFE GOES ON...HOWEVER...WHEN READING THIS BOOK....TRY TO IMAGINE ACTUALLY "LIVING THE LIFE OF HIGH STYLE" WHICH I DID...
ONLY TO BE LEFT WITH "EMPTY FEELINGS OF GUILT" DUE TO THE FACT THAT ONE ONLY CAN HAVE HOPED....."WHY DIDN'T I SEE THIS COMING?"
AND/OR "WHY COULDN'T I HAVE STOPPED THE BROTHERS IN THEIR FINAL
HORRIBLE DECISIONS THAT CHANGED EVERYONES LIFE?"
STEWART AND NEIL WERE RIDING A WAVE OF ARROGANCE, AND GREED THAT
ONLY CAN BE WRITTEN ABOUT NOW.....NOTHING COULD STOP THEM AND NOTHING "THEY FELT" COULD REACH THEM IN THEIR "ULTRA POSITION" WHICH THEY WRONGLY THOUGHT THERE WERE IN.
THEY RESPECTED "NO ONE"......NOT EVEN THEIR OWN PARENTS!
THEY CARED FOR "NO ONE"......NOT EVEN THEIR OWN FAMILIES!
IF THEY HAD ANY FEELINGS AND/OR LOVING MOMENTS...IT WAS ONLY WITH THEIR OWN SELFISH THOUGHTS OF REVENGE AND HATE.....
IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT 2 BROTHERS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT THE
WAY THIS BOOK PROTRAYS.....ESPECIALLY STEWART, WHOM WAS VERY CLOSE TO ME......AS WE WORKED SO HARD TO BUILD THAT WONDERFUL
    PLASTICS BUSINESS AND "FOR WHAT?"....."D I S A S T E R !"
AS THEIR FAMILYS WERE TORN APART...SO WAS MINE.....
AS THEY LOST EVERY DOLLAR OF WEALTH THEY HAD BUILT..SO DID I..
READ THIS BOOK AND LEARN FROM IT.....EVERYTHING "NOT TO DO" OR
LEARN FROM THE WOODMAN FAMILY...."HOW NOT TO ACT OR RE-ACT!"...
THIS BOOK LEAVES HORRIBLE MEMORIES AND PAIN FROM THE FACTS SHOWN
IN GREAT DETAIL.....BUT MAYBE SOMEDAY....SOMETHING POSITIVE CAN
BE LEARNED FROM THIS FAMILY TRAGEDY THAT "NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!" RICK WILSON (PAGE 69)

5 out of 5 stars Universal Monsters series are awesome books.......2007-06-12

I have the whole set of these books and they are some of my favorites to read. They are great books keeping the classic monsters alive for the next generation. They are the kind of book you can't put down until you've read the whole thing. I would suggest watching the classic movies before reading the books to make it even more exciting to read, it's not necessary though because even if you have no idea who the classic monsters are you will still enjoy the books if you're into monsters.

5 out of 5 stars Very good, action book.......2004-07-11

This book was a book a literally read in 1 day because I couldn't put it down! I didn't read the 1st of the series but I caught onto the drift that Nina, Bob, and Joe let out old Universal monsters and had to chase Dracula and a filming the vampire, must make it disappear. By that, I think this book is way more action-packed than the 1st one. Especially the end! It kept you hanging for the 3rd book (which I have not read yet). Great book.

5 out of 5 stars This is the grrrrreatest book ever! :^).......2002-05-31

I really enjoyed this book. Especially the end! (Which I won't give away!) I most definately recommend this book to anyone who likes a good (slightly)horror book!

    5 out of 5 stars best one.......2002-04-26

i've read up to the mummy so far and this is still the best one written it's probably the funniest ones and the hardest one to find out who the wolf man is. the gang goes up to the boondocks to hunt down the wolf man this book makes fun of the hat the most out of the ones i've read so far and has a lot more complexity than dracula.

5 out of 5 stars The second book in a thrilling new teen horror series........2001-07-19

Nina, Joe, and Bob have accidentally released six movie monsters into the real world. They have managed to recapture the first of the monsters, Dracula, and send him back into the fictional movie world where he belongs. But there are five other monsters left to be found. When the teens here about attacks by a giant wolf in a small Florida ranching town, they know they've found the second monsters, the terrifying Wolf Man. But the stories they hear are conflicting. The Wolf Man has spread his evil, and now there is at least one other werewolf. Not only that, but the method they used to recapture Dracula isn't working here. Can Nina, Joe, and Bob find a way to send the Wolf Man back to where he belongs, or will they all become prey? This is the second book in the thrilling new Universal Monsters series. The ending leads right into the next book, which I can't wait to read.
