The art is as always not only perfect but also suits the characters well. the story this time around takes center around CAmmy and T.hook not my fave characters thats probably why I didnt enjoy it that much, that and I dont consider Dalsem to be a Master.

An essential book for all fighters, martial artists, and anyone interested in self-defense!.......2007-05-29
I recently finished reading, "Fighters Fact Book 2" by Loren Christensen and found it to be a very enlightening reference manual on a wide array of topics dealing with the act of self-defense. This book is a compilation of the views of not only the author, but numerous other contributing authors whom are as follows:
Lt. Col. Dave Grossman
Iain Abernethy
Rory A. Miller
Lawrence Kane
Kris Wilder
Alain Burrese
Richard Dimitri
Wim Demeere
Mark Mireles
Tim Delgman
Dan Anderson
This book covers a broad range of topics from the justified use of force to defend yourself, to various methods of training to improve your self-defense skills. There are also several sections devoted to various techniques such as; punching, kicking, elbowing, clawing, etc., as well as, grappling and weapons.
One section that I found particularly intriguing was the section on how to deal with dog attacks. This was quite a pleasant surprise to find in this book as I don't recall very seeing a book or even section devoted to the topic, with the notable exception of an old military manual that I read years ago. Loren covers a lot of very good points in this section and is actually deserving of an entire volume on its own.
I also really enjoyed Loren's section on "Justification." However, I must admit that I did have one small difference of opinion concerning his statement that, "A private citizen has a legal duty to retreat." Now I know that this is the case in some states, but not in all of them. Well over a dozen states have laws on the books that state basically to the effect that, "If you have a legal right to be there, you are under no obligation to retreat." In other words, if you are at the movie theatre with your girlfriend and you are accosted by an attacker, you are not legally required to leave the area, nor retreat from the possible attacker. Now not all states feel the same way, so it would behoove you to research the laws in the areas in which you live and play.
Lawrence Kane's sections on using the makiwara to develop punching power and the use of "shock blocks" was particularly interesting and noteworthy among sections which are all worthy of great praise for the quality of information provided within.
Since my own particular area of expertise is kicking, I really dissected the kicking section by Alain Burrese, which I found to be very practical and unbiased since his primary style of study is Hapkido. Alain covers a lot of information on various subjects needed in order to optimize your kicking skills for use in a real self-defense situation. I found all of the information in Alain's section relevant and noteworthy. However, as Alain points out on several occasions, one must seek out the advise and technical knowledge of a qualified instructor in order to learn not only how to execute your kicks, but also how to apply them.
Another noteworthy section is Richard Dimitri's philosophical look at hand-to-hand combat. Although I have read similar bodies of text before concerning this subject, Dimitri explains it in a very easy to understand and straightforward manner which should get the reader to really sit down and take note of the possible ramifications of his or her decision to use force. Although I don't personally agree with his statement of, "Avoid killing at all costs," I do understand somewhat where his mindset is on this subject and the ideal that he is trying to get across to the reader. In a perfect world, everyone involved in the violence business would be, out of business. Unfortunately, that isn't the case and it doesn't look to promising that it is going to change anytime soon.
Loren's section on the various uses for working out with the heavy bag was a nice little gem all to itself. Although there were no real defined training routines in this section, there was a lot of good information on how to train with the bag and by utilizing the information Loren provides in this section, you should be able to set up several different training routines on your own to fit your own particular style, experience and training methods.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who seriously wants to improve their own personal ability to fight and fight to the best of their abilities when confronted with the need to do so. Although ideally fighting should be a last resort, realistically it often is the first and only option you have other than becoming a victim. As the old saying goes, "Train for the worst and hope for the best."
Excellent Book.......2007-04-01
Loren does a wonderful job again, this book tells you what you need to know to defend yourself in an easy to follow manner, it even goes into detail on how to survive/fend off a dog attack. I highly recommend this book to anyone in martial arts.
An outstanding resource for serious martial artists!.......2007-01-22
I wrote a couple of chapters for this book so I may be a little biased, but I firmly believe that it is an outstanding resource for serious practitioners of the fighting arts. I know the author and several of the other contributors as well. They are all veteran martial artists, folks with real street skills and hard won experience as well as the ability to communicate what they have learned effectively. It's rare to find a collaboration of this quality. It's rarer still for a sequel to outshine the original, but that's exactly what you'll find in this outstanding tome. Loren's writing and editing skills shine through. You'll find solid information with great photos and illustrations to help you make the most of it right away. Really good stuff!
Here's the back cover text:

In addition to Loren Christensen's no-nonsense instruction on justified use of extreme tactics, fighting wounded, attacking the eyes and neck, surviving a dog attack and using the mini-flashlight to ward off an attacker, you'll get expert insight from:
** Lt. Col. Dave Grossman: Army Special Forces, psychologist - on conditioning the mind
** Iain Abernethy: England's leading exponent of applied karate - on street sparring
** Rory A. Miller: corrections officer, tactical team trainer - on in-fighting
** Kris Wilder: multiple black belt holder & international competitor - on punching power
** Lawrence Kane: martial artist and football stadium security supervisor - on shock blocks
** Alain Burrese: hapkido expert, and former bouncer and bodyguard - on kicking skill
** Wim Demeere: Belgian full-contact fighter and personal trainer - on street sanshou
** Richard Dimitri: veteran fighter and popular trainer - on using The Shredder
** Mark Mireles: LA cop, twice Medal of Valor recipient - on chokes and clinching
** Tim Delgman: 9th-degree jujitsu black belt - on throws for the street
** Dan Anderson: karate champion and arnis master - on fighting with single stick
"I was most pleased that my friends agreed to contribute to this book. I was pleased for my own selfish reason in that I would get to learn from them, as I have so often before. And I was pleased that their contribution, based on their experiences on the street, would make this book the highly informative one it is." - Loren W. Christensen (from the Introduction).

The Stuff of Legends.......2007-05-21
This is definitely a good buy! If you're a fan of the Street Fighter comics, or just a fan of Street Fighter in general, you owe it to yourself to read this graphic novel! It's a little more lighthearted than the mainstream Street Fighter comics, as it follows the misadventures of Sakura (Ryu's number 1 fangirl) as she tries to improve upon her skills... all the while, Dan trying to take her under his wing. Nice action, great humor... this is truly the stuff of legends.
Funny for Street Fighter fans, good for everyone else.......2007-05-13
I give this book five stars if you are a SF fan and 3 if you aren't, hence the 4 stars.
This book is genuinely funny, specially if you know what is it about. The authors are not only very good at making comics, but also KNOW about the topic. You can expect to see, apart from major (and a lot of minor) characters, character's stages and special maneuvers (even supers!!!). And it has Dan! You can't go wrong with this one.
For thos that already have all the comics, I wouldn't recommend it. Still, it has some extras, like all the covers of the original comics plus interviews and a character gallery.

This book says it all.......2007-10-04
From the get-go, the book sets the stage - you only lose sales to the next best alternative by being outsold. Everything else is an excuse.
Having read several books on the topic of sales strategy, as well as taking training on the subject, this book really nicely summarizes everything I've seen covered on the topic of strategy (and then some).
Highly recommended.
This is no "one minute" sales guide.......2004-07-13
Forget all the Zig Ziglar-type sales technique books! This is the real deal; It's about methodology, not how to glad hand or do an end run around the CFO or purchasing manager. If you want to understand the nature of truly competitive selling read this book, then watch the movie "Glegarry Glen Ross" for contrast. We trained the worldwide sales force of a F500 company on the Holden methodology. Results speak for themselves
This book gets better every time I read it!!.......2002-04-19
The first time I read Power Base Selling, I thought it was great. Now that I have just re-read it, I am blown away by points that I missed the first time around. I recommend that everyone read it, apply it and then read it again -- it not only sharpins your political skills in selling, but in life.
Great sales book...as long as it is not your only approach.......2001-12-13
Almost all sales books have two major flaws: 1) They give you high level advise, such as "have a strategy" without giving you the "rubber-meets-the-road" actions to take. 2) They expect you to operate within a vaccuum where their selling system or methodology will work every time.
Power Base selling does not contain the first flaw and does an admirable job of trying to avoid the second. It is the first and best book I have read attacking the problem of organizational politics and the human dynamics in a corporate or complex selling environment. It gives very practical ideas on what to do in most political/selling situations to tilt the decision in your favor.
What this book does not do, nor attempt to do, is discuss the importance of a value proposition and the solution you are trying to sell. This is a great book to complement other famous sales books such as "Solution Selling."
I recommend this book highly to anyone that sells in a complex sales world.
Everything is "bought and sold" for a reason..........2001-06-12
Great read. Maybe too many stories...yet they explain his point in a clear sense. If you read between the lines and get the big picture of his strategic principles you can no doubt improve you sales performance.

If you play 3rd Strike, you should own this.......2007-02-14
It's really simple: if you own and actively play 3rd Strike, and have any will or drive to be a competitive player, then you really should own this. Frame data, matchup information -- all the good stuff that you should want and should expect to see in a GOOD fighting game strategy guide is included here. This is not your old-school, garbage Mortal Kombat guide that you bought on a whim while browsing the bookstore: this is real information provided by real, top competitive USA players of the game. Do yourself a favor and pick this up.
Better than average..but still some flaws........2006-08-04
I got the guide in the mail today. Just upon flipping through it quickly, it is definetly a good guide. So before I criticize it at all: If you want to learn to play SF3: Third Strike, this is a great guide, and is the best way, [...]so it's worth it without a doubt.
Anyway, so when you actually use the guide, and try to use it to get better with a character, you may run into some problems. First off, there are definetly some mistakes. From looking at the Oro page, some of the descriptions don't match the actual move, as in just a typo, printing error..but still could confuse a newbie.
Also, the thing that REALLY annoys me about the guide is how it labels each move of a character. For an example of what I mean, everyone knows Ryu's special moves: Hadou-Ken, Shoryuken, and the whirlwind kick. But have you ever heard of...Sakotsu Wari? Me neither. But apparently, Sakotsu Wari is F+MP, Ryu's overhead punch. Now, that would be fine, but it is definetly NOT fine when the guide says to use Sakotsu Wari when the opponent is crouching, and I have no idea WTF Sakotsu Wari is, so I have to flip back to the moves index, only to find out that I would have understood them 100% if they had just said F+MP, which they said previously in the guide anyway. That applies to all of the characters.
My last beef is the so called "matchups". It seems for most characters, the matchups are total bull****. For example, Q's good matchup is...Twelve? Uh, okay. Twelve sucks. Everyone's good against Twelve. Let's look at Twelve matchups. Twelve's good matchup is...CHUN-LI? I don't think so. I think most scrub Chun-Li's would beat the [...] out of any Twelve. But the guide's reason for this is that Chun-Li has no standard anti-air...uh..so what? He's frickin Twelve. He sucks.
ANYWAY, those aside, this is a really awesome guide. What surprised me is that it even goes into advanced tactics like Makoto's Kara-Karakusa/her Abare Tosanami combos. With that said, some combos and tactics are noticeably missing, like Makoto's 100% stun combo, Kara-Oroshi/Fukiage, etc., but that's alright.
Overall, I'd say this is something that people who want to get into 3rd Strike should pick up, because it has up-to-date tactics, and most of the combos and info you're going to need when you want to learn a character, and an easy-to-read and easy-to-find page for each one. Plus, it comes with the 3rd Strike soundtrack. That alone is worth the 10 (LESS!) dollars that this'll cost you.
Awesome Guide to an Awesome Game.......2006-03-10
The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Official Startegy Guide is a very good, it goes well with the game. Very well actually. There is alot of useful information is this guide about both of the games present in The Street Fighter Anniversary Collection. The guide list every character present in both Hyper Street Fighter and Street Fighter 3 Third Strike, plus it also lists every move in each mode in Hyper Street Fighter for each character and it also lists every move for each character in Third Strike with a brief description of each move and frame data of each move. It also lists some strategys for each character and bad match ups for each character. And as an extra treat it comes with the Third Strike soundtrack. This is definitly worth reading. FINAL ATOMIC BUSTER!!
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Stragetgy Guide .......2005-12-26
The guide had great visuals and easy instructions on executing the moves/strategies of the characters. However, it worked far better with the Street Fighter 3rd Strike characters than the classic Street Figher characters.
This is the guide you'll want.......2005-10-10
First of all, one important thing. This review assumes you're actually someone willing to play Street Fighter more often than once a month casually at a friend's house. If that's the case with you, you shouldn't bother buying this book - it isn't for you. This book is for dedicated SF players. Now, that I've made this one thing clear, I can move on.
Probably everyone who plays SF knows that this is not a typical fighting genre game. Mashing will get you nowhere here and the game certainly isn't "user friendly". The guide follows this notion - it's very clearly written, explicitly describes all the techniques, but isn't a "for dummies" material because, let's face it, SF is not a game "for dummies".
That said, the strategy guide has it all. The basic techniques, their implementations, specials, combos, tactics, together with advanced tactics involving the more technically difficult aspects of SF3:TS such as kara techniques and red parrying. This isn't a guide to beat the comp, this a guide dedicated to people who want to play another person. It excells in that, both in the SF2 and SF3:TS section. The strategies are ones tested in real-life, not ones the authors thought up against a computer player.
If you want to learn to play SF2 or 3:TS for real, this is the book you'll want.

Street Fighter Volume 2.......2007-01-05
These book is amazing for real Street Fighter fans. The contains inside just couldn't stop you from reading it again and again.I just love it.
Simply Awesome.......2006-01-03
I recomend this book to anyone who likes comics, but especially to those people who are Streat Fighter fans.
This story reminds me a lot about the Street Fighter movie, but the twist Udon Comics takes on the story is terrific. Unlike the movie though, this comic incorporates EVERYONE in the Street Fighter universe (I think). And when combined with the art in the book which is absolutely phenomenal, you get a powerful combination which takes you back to the good old days when Street Fighter was king.
I wish I could have bought this book instead of all the comics, I would have saved myself $120.00. How can you say no when you'll save that much!

Beautiful.......2006-07-01
The art in this series is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It's well worth the price tag just to look at all the pretty pictures. But the storyline is excellent as well. If only these guys could be in charge of creating a Street Fighter movie since all the previous ones have been average to suck.
Street Fighter Vol. 1.......2006-01-05
Round One: FIGHT!
Though I still have fond memories of playing Street Fighter II for the Super Nintendo back in grade school, I'll admit that I don't quite remember the game having any plot to speak of. Well, I just finished the comic book, and, my opinion hasn't changed all that much.
As you might expect, the series tells the story of a Ryu, who--SUPRISE!--gets into street fights aplenty. The honorable brawler finds his beloved sensei slain in his own dojo and sets off to find the killer, running into all manner of classic characters along the way. (Including Guile, the bombastically American super-soldier, who was my personal favorite back in the day. SONIC BOOM!)
Don't get me wrong, the Udon Crew obviously loves the original games, and has created a fitting homage to them (complete with manga-styled visuals). The only problem is that you'd have to be the age I was when I first bought a SNES to enjoy the story.
Yes they do show the backup stories!.......2006-01-03
I don't know what these people here are smoking, but this graphic novel does contain the backstories to each character that appears in the story. From Guile, to Chung Lee, to Cammy, and even Charlie, they are all there and you don't miss out on anything, at least everything the comics had.
I recomend this book to anyone who likes comics, but especially to those people who are Streat Fighter fans.

Great comic for a great video game.......2005-08-22
I'm a big Street Fighter fan. I have a black belt in Chun Li and Cammy and a brown belt in Vega so trust me when I say that Image & Udon have done a fantastic job with this new Street Fighter comic book series. Volume 1 covers the storyline from Street Fighter Alpha. I found the series faithful to the game not only in the plot but also in the art. The artists don't try to reinvent the wheel here. Comic Cammy looks just like Video Game Cammy.
However, based on what the other reviewers said it is dissappointing to learn that this TBP doesn't include the extra material found in the original comic books such as mini backstories that flesh out some of the characters. These backstories aren't really required to understand the story as most of these tidbits are reiterated in the main plot anyway such as Eliza almost leaving Ken because of his sport or Cammy being freed from Bison's mind warping by Rose. I do not agree with the naysayers about the quality of the main story itself. This is a great comic book for fans of the Street Fighter mythos and if you can't get the original comic books then pick this up.
An explosive story with great art.......2005-04-02
Being a Street Fighter fan, I did not even know this book exist until now. I got a copy of this book and I am very pleased with how the story goes. It is definately something worth recommending to any readers who likes a tight, fast pace story. The art is absolutely beautiful, and the characters do all their signature moves like how they do it in the actual video game! For the low cover price, it is definately worth it!

A must buy if you have the game.......2001-05-12
This book is amazing in how it helped me play the game. When I first played the game, I thought "What is this? Why is it so slow?" After achieving all the secret characters, I decided to see if I missed anything by looking at this book at my local book store. I first turned the page to my favorite character, Kairi, and found tons of stuff I didn't even know he could do. The book has colored pictures which adds a nice touch. It tells you each character's momentary combos which is very helpful. It tells you all of the meteor tag team moves which is a good thing so you don't have to go through a guess and check method of finding tag partners. The book also shows you several tag combos (not meteor tag team moves) that looks cool while doing major damage. It gives you all the secrets. Finally, the most helpful thing I found in this book was how it gives excellent strategies on how to use every character and the amazing, super cool combos that you would think never could've happen judging by the speed of the game.
Once again, this book is a must buy if you have the game. Without this book, the game is just a slow lifeless game that seems as if it were rushed through just to meet the launch of the PS2.

Excellent with a few exceptions!.......2007-09-05
Make no mistake, if you want to learn how to competitively play the Alpha Series, this is the book to get. For a mere $15 you get such a wealth of pro knowledge that it really is a no brainer. Don't know what "meaty" or "cross-up" attacks are? No problem, there's a Street Fighter glossary that will give you all those fan-made technical definitions. Seriously, EVERYTHING is in this... with the exception of a few characters.
Unfortunately 1 secret character from SFA2 (Shin Akuma) and all new characters added to SFA3 'Upper' (Guile, Deejay, T-hawk, Feilong, Shin-Akuma, Evil Ryu) are missing from the guide. Normally I wouldn't mind since this was technically a new Street Fighter Alpha 3 revision, but seeing how it was included in the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology game, there's no reason those characters shouldn't have a section in the book!
All and all, great stuff for a great price. With GGPO gaining steam, now's a great time to get in the Alpha scene!
Gem fighter is so fun........2007-06-13
Gem fighter is a crack up. I end up not ever playing the other games. It's a must have if you like fighting games.

A Munchkin's dream come true.......2004-08-07
I have to agree that there is a lot in this book that breaks the SFRPG. However, it is essential. In addition to savante and ninjitsu, you also have access to make your characters into animal hybrids, cyborgs, and elementals, adding to the munchkinism. But it is easy to look on the 'net and find out how to fix the problems in the book. It also adds more roleplaying in a system (WoD) that is used to more roleplaying than you find in Street Fighter.
Highly recommended.
It might be useful.......2004-06-25
In the Streetfighter role playing game, characters choose one of several different martial arts styles that will determine which powers and abilities they will be able to select, both in character generation and in the future. The core rulebook did a good job of making sure that the styles were more of less equal, so that making a character was more a matter of tastes than of maximizing benefits. That quality is tossed right out the window with the Player's Guide.
The guide introduces two new martial arts styles, one that is rather lame and the other which is grossly over-powered. The weak one, Savate, tries to compensate by saying its practitioners get to inflict extra damage because of the special shoes they wear, a poor excuse, and one that begs the question why other fighting styles don't incorporate such badass footwear. The other, Ninjitsu, features numerous super-manuevers which are only rarely available to other martial artists, including the cheapest ability ever attached to the product line.
The book goes on to outline rules for creating cyborgs, animal-hydrids, and elementals, rules which allow the player to make their starting characters far tougher than their mundane counterparts with hardly any drawbacks at all. If these three traits are combined, you've just made one ridiculous combat machine.
The next few chapters are better. Advice for playing background characters like team managers, senseis, and ring doctors are fair, though these are not really in keeping with this being a Player's Guide. The sample characters are mostly solid and in keeping with the tone of the genre.
The book ends with more special manuevers, but these are either too weak or too powerful compared to those in the core rulebook. Only a few are worth keeping, and the game plays very well indeed without them.
All in all, the new rules this book provides need a lot of rehabilitation to be of much use. The Player's Guide is for completists only.
Role-playing Streetfighter.......2002-12-17
In all respects, this is an interesting book. I remember wanting to buy it and then my friend (who i play Vampire with) bought before i could. n e way. It is interesting because it defines how to make specific characters from a myriad of fighting styles, adding powers and stuff... blah blah blah. the reasons is gsave it 3 stars is because if you step back from trying to descern why White-wolf published it, it really is quite funny. i have read through it and I think it deserves a go before you knock it.
This is so dissapointing.......1999-04-18
This book is so bad, especially after waiting for a long time to get it. It is poorly designed, poorly written, and has some of the worst artwork that I have ever seen. And the parts for cybernetics, elementals and animal hybrids should be burned. This is a game about the martial arts, not superheros or ninja turtles. The discount point costs and the arena advantages are all that this book is good for.
