Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

4 1/2 stars.......2007-08-15
This was Kerrigan and Seren's story.
Kerrigan was black hearted and...the bad guy.
This was a nice read. It's been recapped enough, so don't need to reinvent the wheel in this review.
Could not put the book down!.......2007-08-13
This was my first read by Ms. Macgregor .. and I loved it. I could not put it down. I loved the anti-heroine "little mouse", who believes in good and who believes there is good within everyone if you treat them with kindness and gentleness. Kerrigan was a great tortured hero, in whom our heroine saw a different person than he viewed himself.
I'm off to find Book #2 in the series now.
Good start (4), poor finish (2).......2007-08-12
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. The leading man was dark and dangerous and the lady smart and strong. I found the time travel to modern day and the references to modern technology and the use of modern slang to be extremely annoying and completely unnecessary. The story is set in a fantasy world, why travel to the 21st century? Then there's the ending. The story completely wimped out. Poof, invoke a magical solution and they lived happily every after. It killed the whole book for me.
WOW!.......2007-08-10
She is refreshingly real - not an awesome beauty (that every man wants to sleep with) but a plain "under nourished" peasant who will be the mother of the next Merlin. He is dark, brooding and cold and hasn't ever felt love until she comes along. His love for her changes their lives. Beautiful story. Fantastic creatures. A love affair that started right away and not 3/4 through the book. I absolutely love this book!
Fun and refreshing read!!!.......2007-07-27
This happens to be the FIRST book I've read by this author; and I was pleasantly surprised.
A very fun read...to the point that I was laughing OUT LOUD!! Other times almost teary eyed! Characters you'll enjoy reading about...and I really "got a kick" out of Garafyn and Blaise!!! What a hoot!!
Take a chance on this read, you won't be disappointed! And now I'm off to the next book in the series.

Book Description
Merewyn was born a beautiful child, but on the eve of her fourteenth birthday when it was decreed that she would have to wed an awful boy, she struck a bargain with the fey to make her so ugly that he would refuse their wedding. They did, and then they left her that way. Stuck for years in the body of a hideous woman, she again calls upon the fey to help her. The evil Morgen Le Fey answers her summons. In exchange for her beauty to be restored to her, Merewyn must deliver Varian to their side.
Varian was born of a druid father and an Adoni mother. His mother is one of the handmaidens to Morgen and as such he's under constant suspicion from the other members of Avalon. His duties are to ferret out Lords of Avalon members who could join with Morgen. Now it's up to Merewyn to seduce him to the dark side or be forced to live as a hideous crone for the rest of eternity.

Very entertaining!.......2007-06-07
I didn't realize until about halfway through that I was reading the second in a series. It didn't detract from the story, and I didn't feel like I'd missed anything.
Sherrilyn Kenyon (writing here as Kinley MacGregor) continues to surprise me with her depth of imagination and skill at taking well known stories and bending them just enough to be unique yet still familiar.
This series revolves around the knights of the round table and King Arthur's tale. It exists both in and out of time which threw me when the opening scene is a knight solving a Soduku puzzle. The anachronisms later cause some of the funniest scenes in the novel. Not only did I get used to the "timeless" idea of the setting, I appreciated it's novelty.
Both the hero and heroine are well developed characters with believable backstories, although the heroine does seem (at first) a bit vain even after having centuries to reflect on how that vice got her into trouble.
I found the hero amazingly sexy, attractive and just the sort of hero I like in my romance. Protective, but not overbearing. And very hot.
I mentioned the humor, but I prize an author's ability to make me smile and laugh as well as keep me on the edge of my seat with action and plot and this book delivers.
I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Sword of Darkness, the first in this series.
Not bad.......2007-05-13
Having read "Sword of Darkness" (Lords of Avalon Book 1), I eagerly purchased Book 2. However, "Knight of Darkness" (Lords of Avalon Book 2) wasn't what I hoped it would be. Although the book is o.k., in my opinion it lacked the style and fast paced action of the first one. I actually found Book 2 to be a bit boring at times! Book 1 is by far the winner of these two books.
Lighten up! This is harmless fiction not to be taken too seriously!.......2007-05-05
Continuing on with the Lords of Avalon series, Kinley MacGregor introduces us to a powerful knight caught amidst the battle between good and evil.
Varian duFey is a product of his evil mother's deception. Conceived in darkness and treachery, he grew up suffering the scorn of everyone, including his very own parents. Caught between darkness and lightness, he had spent centuries waging an inner battle between good and evil. Carrying the bloods of an Adoni and Merlin, it has been speculated that his powers could be greater than anyone has ever imagined. Hence, the reason why Morgen and her ally Narishka, Varian's mother, will stop at nothing to get him on their side. But for centuries they have tried and failed. Until Varian crosses path with his mother's slave, Merewyn of Mercia.
Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful princess in the land of Mercia. Reputed to be more beautiful than Helen of Troy, men supposedly killed each other just for a mere smile from her. But Merewyn despised every moment of it. Feeling trapped by her beauty, she made a bargain with an Adoni after discovering her father's wish to marry her off. Now the Adonis are a beautiful race of elflike creatures. However, underneath their physical magnificence, they possess a cruel nature that even demons fear. Tricked into trading her beauty for freedom, little did she know that it wasn't freedom she was trading her beauty for, but centuries of slavery and repugnance. Everywhere she went, people felt repulse by her deformity. Then one day, she meets Varian, the only man who has shown her any kindness. A kindness that will endanger both their lives.
Now on the run from Morgen and Narishka, Varian and Merewyn must work together if they wish to avoid capture, but how can they do so when they are constantly at each other's throat, trading barbs and denying the growing attraction between them?
Just like its predecessor, KNIGHT OF DARKNESS is a fun, witty and entertaining novel. MacGregor has put a fun spin on the Arthurian legend that, although bordering on being utterly ridiculous at times, provides a fun way to while away a lazy day. I do admit that references to pop culture such as Monty Python had me scratching my head, but only due to my lack of knowledge of the film. However, the sarcastic humor that is a trademark of Kenyon/MacGregor certainly had me smiling. So come on, lighten up a bit and be prepared for some silly fun. This is harmless fiction, not classic literature.
great story.......2007-04-16
I read this on first and then read Sword of Darkness (1st in series) I loved this story. There is a lot of fantasy and magic but it works and I really enjoyed this. Some truly funny moments.
Spare yourself the Disappointment.......2007-03-25
I get the feeling that this is the branch of the Sherrilyn Kenyon/Kinley MacGregor franchise that is supposed to be a simple read - simpler than the Dark Hunter Novels, for example. The font was even larger in the Kinley MacGregor book than in Sherrilyn Kenyon books. I found the characters lacking depth, and the story - though littered with references to Camelot & all the paraphenilia, to be lacking in the development of these aspects of the story. It was as if you were supposed to know what all the stuff meant, and if you didn't there was a glossary in back to help you. In my mind that makes for a not well-written story. Sherrily Kenyon can do much better.
So this is the last Kinley MacGregor book I'll pick up.
I particularly found it annoying that the herione, Merewyn, was so invested in her own beauty. She won't allow anyone to get close to her when she becomes 'ugly,' and that is actually an ugly turn of events. I lost a lot of sympathy for her. Another annoying part was when a new hero showed up out of the blue near the end of the book to help Varion. It smacked of Deus es Machina to me - or at least a writer who likes to crank out new stories based upon the fascinating characters she manages to introduce. Merlin was not a sympathetic character - at one point he shows up pissed because of an event taking place. I didn' see enough of him in the story to be able to relate to a pissed-off Merlin.
There are lots of well-written Camelot stories out there. This is not one of them.

Customer Reviews:
Could be better, but could definitely be worse, too.......2004-02-04
This was a relatively good book, in terms of the FR accessories. Some of the art seemed half-assed (not bad, just rushed), but its the book's content that really shines through here. As a FR Dungeon Master, i had plans to incorporate some evil organizations from what i learned in the Book of Vile Darkness (BUY IT! It's the best D&D book to date), and this book helped a lot.Aside from giving me some solid info on the organizations and characters i had planned on using, it also gave me some ideas for the campaign and quests, among other things. My only big complaint? The PRICE. i didn't get it on Amazon, because i hate waiting for anything (i want everything yesterday, if possible), and it was 24 bucks. Jesus! For a 150-page paperback! Other than that, it's a great book, and a very useful one for FR.
Excellent book........2003-12-16
This is one of the FR books you should own. It's excellent, has lots of great prestige classes, depicts major and minor evil organizations in Faêrun, and also describes each organization's most important sites (with site maps and their respective keys, and NPCs). This is really useful, you can insert these sites in any adventure, in any geographical site in the realms, and build an adventure around it. Also, great spells and magic items. You won't regret buying this book, it's simply great!
Good information.......2002-12-25
Good detail and a great number of organizations makes this a decent addition to anyone's FR library.
Evil Cults & Groups Galore!.......2002-11-21
Wonderfully put together, beautiful maps of the bad guyz' hideouts you can use for anything, the organizations and details on the NPC's can likewise be used with other side treks, etc. I personally look forward to using the Cormanthor Drow Elves and the Cult of the Dragon in my campaign.
All our favorite bad guys!.......2002-09-19
Truth be told, you probably have enough information in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting to pass through or conduct simple quests with regard to most of the evil groups of Faerun. All of the organizations in this book are mentioned, with varying detail, in the campaign. They are also described in Forgotten Realms novels, so if you have read a great deal of those, you might not need this accessory.
If you want to get into real detail with the powers of darkness and haven't read that much fiction, then this is the book to have. Even if you have done your homework, there's quite a lot of original material in here. As an example, if you'd like to actually visit the City of Shade, Lord of Darkness contains a wealth of information about how you would describe it. The campaign provides more simple demographics and locations than in-depth detail, so this is most welcome. There are also new encounters, weapons, and spells for the organizations, as well as some pre-made dungeons to explore. Specific points of interest in lands held by the enemy are also noted, as well as details on particular leaders of each order.
In all, every major evil organization is covered, as well as a host of lesser ones. Lords of Darkness has enough info about how they operate and what they look like to give a DM totally unacquainted with the FR setting the capability to correctly portray enemies and guide adventurers through enemy territory.

Book Description
Whereas Marlow has usually been discussed as a literary device who is of no special interest in himself, this study argues that Conrad portrays Marlow and his relationships with a psychological depth that is unsurpassed in literature. In "Youth," "Heart of Darkness," and Lord Jim, he is a continuously-evolving character whose thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are expressions of his personality and experience. Understanding Marlow's motivations newly illuminates the formal complexity and thematic richness of these works, for his inner conflicts profoundly affect the structure of his narrations, his interactions with his auditors, and the elusive meanings of his tales.
Book Description
For centuries, I've been the assassin for the infamous Merlin, even though the woman who birthed me sits at the right hand of our enemy, Morgan le Fey. Now my mother has decided it's time I take her side of this conflict.
Normally, telling her no wouldn't be a problem. However my mother gave me a harsh choice: join Morgen's side or see an innocent die. I'm all for saving the innocent, but Merewyn isn't as innocent as she seems. Still, leaving her to Morgen is rough, even for me, and the only way to save us both is to face the evilest forces ever known—my mother and Morgen. Now two people who know nothing of trust must learn to rely on each other or die.

Customer Reviews:
nice author, bad book.......2006-10-14
I only bought the book because I met the author and really liked talking to that person.
Anyway, as many suggest, this book is not worth the read. It's prose is flat, character is unwittingly dull; and action is too glossed over. When Soullis is "made" the scene was too abrupt and you end up thinking, "Huh?" I am not a novice to vampire stories or fantasy novels, and I just had to re-read it a hundred times to make sure I understood what just happened.
His transformation from honorable human knight to vampyre seemed almost too cartoonish to be taken seriously.
The whole plot of the CRusaders protecting a vampire was just too ridiculous to behold. And, let's be honest, the Crusaders were fighting for their God, not to protect a vampire. ....but I digress...I don't claim to be a Templar professor, but I know enough about them to say, "blech" to that concept.
I know this was pure fiction, and not meant to be taken seriously, but it is very unreadable due to the fact of the 'historical facts'.
The conclusion is lame and anti-climatic at best. Predictable, and I did not just believe in Soullis' "burning need" to take it out on Vlad.
The dialogue has many cliches, I just can't even put in this review. If there were 'minuses' I'd put it at a '-5'.
Unfortunately, not worth the pick up, nice author though.
Disappointing "ending", if you can even call it an ending...........2005-11-01
Talk about a lot of reading for no pay-off! The premise for this book is very promising but fails to deliver.
In a nutshell: The tale starts off with the creation and education of the fledgling vampyre, Mordred Soulis. He is eventually taken under the wing of the Templars and put through a series of tests...all to determine whether he is the Chosen One, the one to save all mankind from Vlad, an evil vampyre, (and his father; as Vlad is the father of all vampyres). Mordred is destined to battle Vlad in the end to save the human race.
Without boring you by going through the whole rigamarole, we follow Mordred on his journey of enlightenment, the author loads the story of his journey with rich detail, at this point I am completely engrossed in the book.
Suddenly! The book becomes very fast paced with little or no detail at all. The author pretty much ties the whole story up in a matter of a few paragraphs. I was so disappointed after reading all that I had :( I thought this was going to be a book that really stuck with me. I feel the author really copped out in the end and ruined what could have been a truly spellbinding tale.
The long anticipated final battle with Vlad that Mordred spent the entire book preparing for never occurs, there is one wimpy fight between them where Vlad ends up running off with his tail between his legs saying something to the effect of "We will meet again for the final battle" ...and the book leaves you hanging, forcing you to read the second installment in this lame series.
I say save your money- I know I won't bother to waste my time.
A chore to read.......2005-08-21
Though this was an interesting twist to what's become fluid vampire mythology in today's vamp fiction trend, I struggled through this well-written yet slow-paced tome by L.G. Burbank. The story goal was too vague to hold my interest, I skimmed over many passages of superfluous exposition, and the character of Mordrid wasn't developed enough for me to care what happened to him. He was a puppet without a past, and his motivation for becoming a mercenary soldier was never made clear. If it was just for the money, why? Was he building himself a fortune for... what? Every time I picked the book back up I considered it a chore to read rather than a pleasure. By the time I got halfway through, I knew I couldn't finish it. I didn't care whether or not Mordrid being a vampire would somehow save the world. The lack of suspenseful storytelling made it too boring to finish.
The cover art is fabulous, but because of the story inside, I would not recommend it to friends. I will not read anything else by L.G. Burbank.
I'm an avid reader of horror and dark fantasy, but this was definitely not the book for me.
Don't read this book if you like cliched, overdone vampires..........2005-07-20
I loved this book for the simple fact it brought some very original ideas into play in what could have been a very boring, cliched vampire novel. The way the word is spelled in the book, vampyre, is from old Russian/Baltic lore. I love the fact that Mordred can go out in the sun, isn't afraid of silver and all that other crap. I love that this is not an Anne Rice book or a Bram Stoker rip off, but a unique, albiet wacky voice in an overwritten genre. And the Roman Catholic church, while it may not have been referred to as such until after 1500, was indeed in Rome prior and was indeed the center of the Catholic faith so I have no issues with the research. Besides, this is a fantasy work first and foremost and we all know vampyres aren't real right? Love it. Looking forward to the next one.
inaccurate & boring.......2005-07-04
It sounded like it had possibilities--but the back of the book was completely misleading. Also, Burbank's utter disregard for history got on my nerves. I'm a professional medievalist (at a university) and I can assure you that even a little bit of research would have saved her. Mordred didn't seem even slightly Scottish. Events, locations, dates--all shaky. And if I had to read that the Crusades were supported by the "Roman Catholic Church" one more time, I thought I'd puke. Pre-Reformation Chritianity was all one religion...there was NO RC church until AFTER 1517, well after the Crusades. Sorry, you can't blame Catholicism alone for that mess. Read a history book; don't try to write them.

L.G. Burbank is the successor to Anne Rice.......2005-10-14
The Catholic Church created Vlad in their quest for immortality but lost control of him. He now wants to eradicate humans from the face of the earth and hopes that Mordred, the half vampyre he created will help him. Mordred rejects him and is on a quest to get the aid of the other vampire kings to help him in the upcoming battle with Vlad. He must prove to each of them he is the Chosen One, destined to defeat his creator and bring light into a troubled world.
After gaining the acceptance of the Narrangantti vampyre king, he travels to Rome because an evil sect within the church has awakened Vlad who possesses one of their priests. When he arrives in Rome, he kidnaps Father Simon and travels with him to the Carpathian Mountains to the home of Vlad the Impaler. Vlad is trapped in the Impaler's body. He hopes to break the possession but ends up in mortal combat with his enemy and loses consciousness. He wakes up in Valhalla where he is to fight the second vampire king so that he will acknowledge Mordred as the Chosen One. They next seek a sacred object hidden by the Knights Templar in the New World unaware the evil sect within the Catholic Church, the Red Caps, are hunting for Mordred because according to the prophecy in the Dead Sea Scrolls, he can ruin their plans.
No doubt about it, L.G. Burbank is the successor to Anne Rice. Her vampyre Mordred is unique, refreshingly original and doesn't give in to his dark side. Readers will admire him and empathize with the many travails he undergoes. THE RUTHLESS is a fast paced action packed supernatural thriller worthy of a Bram Stoker award nomination for its originality and creativity. The audience will eagerly await the next book in this terrific series.
