Book Description

"After-death communications," or "ADCs, " occur when someone is contacted spontaneously and directly by a deceased family member or friend, without the help of any medium. The authors' research shows that these spiritual experiences offer hope, love, and comfort for thousands of people. Included are more than 350 first-hand accounts of those whose lives have been changed and even protected by messages or signs from the deceased.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Real life accounts.......2007-08-23

The writer compiles real life stories in the words of the person experiencing the "visit", message, etc., from beyond. Very touching.

5 out of 5 stars we dont die.......2007-04-27

knowing there is life after death is a great comfort this book will help you if you have lost someone close well written another great book which will give you comfort is the calling of your true self elizabeth anne bell both well worth reading these spiritual people have been in touch with the other side so much truth in the readings

4 out of 5 stars Interesting.......2007-04-12

Although this book gets bogged down sometimes in explaining an account of an ADC (After Death Contact) after you have just read the account, it is very interesting. If you are open to such experiences, this book will bring you comfort in confirming that life goes on in other forms.

4 out of 5 stars Very good reading..............2007-04-07

This book will inform and inspire
you so I would recommend this book to
anyone who is searching for truth
and meaning in life. Very useful.

1 out of 5 stars Boring.......2007-03-18

Page after page, after page of the same old same old. Story after story of after death encounters from different people.

The book could have been only one chapter and made a huge hit with me. It could have just said there were this amount of people that had ADC's and here are a just few of those encounters. Believe me a few would have been enough (I already believe).

On the back of the book it states: "comfort and emotional support for those who are bereaved", among other false statements. I believe this book was an annoying, let down and a waste of both time and money, to the bereaved and everybody else.

Don't waste your money buying this book. If you think you want to read it (you really don't), get it from the library. The book was a waste of money! It was so bad, I will not buy anything from these so called authors again.

Also, the star ratings are misleading as 1 star means you hate it 2 stars means you don't like it. Therefore, it's getting stars for being disliked and hated.

The authors of the popular We Don't Die discuss some 90 cases of after-death communication in an attempt to discover what happens when we pass on. This is a must read for those confused by messages from departed loved ones, those who wonder why they haven't been given a message, and those who want to know more about the mystery of the afterlife. Love Beyond Life addresses questions of love and death without crossing the boundary into hokeyness or sentimentalism.

Book Description

Despite our cultural aversion to death, two in five Americans--over 40 million people--have experienced contact with the dead. What do these communications tell us about life here and beyond? What can these glimpses beyond the veil teach us about acceptance, love, and faith? How can they help us to resolve our grief, incorporate a loved one's death into our daily lives, and draw purpose and meaning from unspeakable tragedy?

Joel Martin and Patricia Romanowski, authors of the classic, We Don't Die, here explore the power of after-death communication--deathbed visions, dream visitations, apparitions, and other phenomena--to comfort us, to strengthen us, and to create a new, life-affirming notion of what it means to grieve and to die. In the midst of life we live with death, a fact we are culturally conditioned to deny. We avoid the dying, the dead, and the bereaved at every opportunity and then wonder why we feel so alone when death touches our lives. Love Beyond Life is an invaluable resource for those who have lost someone dear, and for anyone who yearns to make sense of life's final journey.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Powerful.......2006-07-11

I bought both of Allison DuBois' books. It is a fascinating subject very helpful to those of us who are grieving.

5 out of 5 stars Very Thorough and Thought Out.......2005-10-03

This book is fantastic. It gives a wonderful review of after-death communications and their therapeutic value. I myself am a grief counselor and find these techniques to be of immense value with bereaved clients. Patricia Romanowski and Joel Martin are excellent authors that are compassionate as well as receptive to many things. I am officially recommending this book.

5 out of 5 stars Validating book on life after death.......2005-09-26

Short stories about after death communication with loved ones. These have validated my own experiences in the spiritual realm.

Having had many of these experiences, it is always refreshing to find other persons whose beliefs and most importantly experiences confirm my own life path.

It is indeed a book of hope and lifts up your spirit as well as takes away the negative way of thinking of death.

4 out of 5 stars Love Beyond Life: The Healing Power of After-Death Communications.......2005-08-24

It did exactly what the title promised. A little 'scientific' at times but it was easy to understand. It provided a wide variety of different types of after-death communications that were easy to relate to. I found it to be very helpful in my own 'healing process'.

3 out of 5 stars cold reading.......2005-04-03

I dont want to get involved inbetween the belief-systems here, but anyone who has no doubts whatsoever that he is genuine can at least challange himself....if he or she is ready...by knowing whats available. Nobody has to change their minds, but everybody can be challenged, I guess.

I personally dont wish to reveal my personal opinion on all this, but think it is allways better to remain sceptical towards ones own opinion, whatever that may be.

I recommend typing the term cold reading into a yahoo search engine. Or might as well go directly to http://www.tarotpassages.com/coldreading.htm

Or, if you would like to know what so called mentalists do....even though it seems impossible to the audience, go to www.magicproshop.com and type the therm mentalism into the search engine. Or the names Richard Osterlind and Marc Spelman.

Again, I am not sure myself whats going on, and only recently have been doing some research in the internet. But my jaw really hit the floor when I found this

http://www.ronjo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=bkcashing&Category_Code=&Store_Code=R

and this

http://www.ronjo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?

and so on. This I had certainly not expected.

So, know whats available, its the least u can do.

His gripping debut tells the story of a man caught up in a criminal plot. He finds himself catapulted into a dangerous situation in the back streets of Edinburgh and Glasgow, then back to the serene beauty of rural Kintyre — and even greater danger.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent read!.......2007-05-30

Colin Murray's first novel is brilliant. He evokes the dreary, ancient atmosphere of Scotland in November and peppers his story with believable, albeit somewhat evil, characters. His main character, Iain Lewis, is fully realized. Lots of humor here and an amazingly told story. I burned through this book in a week (that's quick for me)! Highly recommended!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Really Sweet Book.......2005-04-22

This book continues, along with An Adopted Woman, Twice Born and other titles the ever-thrilling story of a birth mother's reunion with the child she was forced to give up as an infant because she was unmarried and underage, usually from the 1940s, 1950s,or 1960s. Looking back on this practice it seems so cruel to both the mother and the child. I was wondering what becomes of these young pregnant girls today, and it hit me: abortion. How very sad in a totally different way. Society has its ways, often brutal when looked at from a distance, even a very short distance. Both ways of dealing with unexpected/unwanted pregnancies are obviously devastating to the mother, but at least adoption affords an opportunity to become acquainted with the child who was given up. In this story, the author has a rocky few years as we all do in one way or another, but always has the love of her children, and always has the hope of finding her baby. When she finally does, it is very exciting to read of the thrill the mother feels and of the slow awareness of the found child, now a grown woman who had never had any plan to seek out her birth mother. While being excited for Susan, the mother, my heart went out to Joanne whose entire life was instantly changed by this meeting. She was a married woman with a job, friends, and a loving family. Now, she was justifiably afraid of this woman entering her life, claiming to be her birth mother, who was pitting her entire happiness on Joanne's returning her love. Susan never quite goes over the line relative to stalking or smothering or demanding love, but she gets close. In any case, it is a very satisfying book and it is nice to read about such nice people who can have such a happy conclusion to a heart-breaking (for the mother) beginning.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST READ for all members of the triad!.......2005-01-07

I just LOVED this book! I can't say enough about it. I am an adoptee and it was really great to hear a birthmother's perspective. She told an honest, heartwarming story that flowed well and was easy to read. I couldn't put this one down!!! Grab your box of tissue, warm blanket & enjoy!!! It was EXCELLENT!

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Adoption Stories.......2004-07-09

I very much enjoyed reading this "fantastic" read! I have been in the adoption searching business for over 13 years now and this is one of THE best adoption search stories ever - not kidding. The way Susan expressed herself and that oof her family members shows such genuine love and affection, considering what she had to go through.

5 out of 5 stars From the Other Side.......2004-07-08

I attended High School with Susan Mello Souza but we were never friends. I knew who she was, but always considered her to be one of the "popular" girls and she always seemed to just be bursting with confidence... little did I know. I reconnected with Susan just this past year as I was surfing the net doing genealogy ... our last names were the same and that is how it came to be that I found a former classmate. After I read about the loss of her daughter, Jackie online and the story of her being pregnant in High School and giving that daughter up I contacted her via e-mail. She was very gracious and we e-mailed back and forth several times and I ordered a copy of her book.
The story is very well written and for me personally it showed me the "other side" of the adoption story. You see, while Susan was struggling with giving a baby up I had my own personal struggle. My parents were getting a divorce and I decided to give up my Dad and allow a step-father to adopt me. Like Susan this decision would haunt me for many years.
I thank God that I too had the chutzpah to correct a decision that was in may ways made for me and I was reunited with my Dad.
After reading Susan's book I came to realize how much pain I had inflicted on my own Dad.
Susan lost not one but two daughters in her life and you feel her pain, but also know that hope is what carried her through the dark days. This book I believe will inspire not only those birth mothers still looking for their child, but also those who may have given up on people that loved them.

5 out of 5 stars Helped the healing process.......2004-06-11

When reading Susans and Joannes book...It brought me to a place I once was. As I shared Susan's life, her love, loss, reunion. I felt as though I was there. Sharing, hurting, caring. It really IS a MUST read. Whether you are a part of the adoption community or not. If you are...it helps the healing process. If you are not..you will learn we are not horrible. Just loving mothers searching for our lost children.

Product Description

The Bridge is Love blends parallel stories, one a true memoir of events on Earth, and a second, imaginative parable of complementary happenings in Heaven. The storyteller is a young boy, Scotty, whose life is ended suddenly in a tragic highway accident. He enters into a new life as an angel-child in Heaven from where he views his family's grief and recovery. The story spans thirteen months during which the power of love and faith allows the past and present to join together and promotes healing. The bereaved are enabled to resume positive, hopeful lives.

The factual, poignant account of the journey through intense sadness and loss emphasizes the importance of a strong network of family and friends to enhance the mourners' resilience. Extended family members, as well as treasured teachers and friends, come alive as their joys, sorrows, strengths and weaknesses are revealed. Throughout the story there is humor and hopefulness. Life becomes more cherished as challenges are confronted and overcome.

Scotty tells the tale with pure innocence, characteristic of a young child, but reflecting wisdom and understanding gained viewing the human condition through the passage of time from his heavenly vantage point. He shares his memories and observations of earthly events, at the same time recounting his experiences as a newcomer in a Heaven where love and happiness abound. His new family includes a long-deceased great-grandmother, his beloved Uncle Alex, and a new best friend, Steve. A heavenly neighbor turns out to be his mother's teacher and mentor, Uncle Bob, who introduces Scotty to the great humanitarian, Albert Schweitzer.

Time, confrontation of grief, support of family and friends, faith and hope - these are the ingredients of recovery after loss and reclamation of true joy in the living of each day.

5 out of 5 stars Transforming grief.......2007-02-04

Cheron Mayhall's book is moving, powerful, sweet, uplifting, magical, poignant, and of course, searingly sad. For those of us who have not experienced the death of a child, fear is painfully vivid when we hear about others' loss. It is hard to imagine surviving, psychologically. For those who have experienced this grief, I imagine Cheron's book as a wonderful, healing, transforming comfort. Cheron helps all of us make some sense of this experience, from the inside out. From darkness to sunshine.

5 out of 5 stars The Bridge is Love.......2007-01-30

Dr. Mayhall has used the deep grief of losing a child to craft a narrative that lifts one's spirit while creating introspection and empathy. Scottie's story is touching and encouraging, filled with life's emtions, sorrow and joy.

5 out of 5 stars Comfort, Hope and Joy.......2007-01-01

"The Bridge is Love" brings me comfort, hope and joy. Dr. Cheron Mayhall and I met in college and have remained friends for 46 years. When Scotty died, it was very tragic and sad. However, "The Bridge is Love" has helped the author bridge this saddness to acceptance of his death. It will also bring comfort, hope and joy to others who have lost young children tragically. Anne Kask

5 out of 5 stars Links of Healing...Links of Love.......2006-10-25

As a mother who has also lost a child, I was hard put to pick which of Cheron Mayhall's many links of healing spoke to me the most. But reading, and living through her story, The Bridge Is Love, I found the 'love link of love' resounding in my heart many times over: We can be closer to our loved one by giving more to life, mutually guaranteeing ourselves a place in each other's hearts forever, regardless of time and place. Plus we spread that hope of life beyond ourselves to others which, like the sun "as we journey towards it, casts the shadow of our burdens behind us (Samuel Smiles, from The Bridge Is Love, p. 126)."

I suggest that The Bridge Is Love is but one of many healing ways Cheron Joy Mayhall will reach and comfort fellow grievers on their road to healing and restoration.

author of PAM and Hope Renewed

5 out of 5 stars This is not a 'sad' book.......2006-06-12

This is a book of hope and love that is sure to strike a chord within you. Not only is the plot creative and engaging, but the story helps you realise that life does go on after the death of a loved one and that there is a way through the pain and grief.

Mayhall is clearly a talented writer with a gift for capturing the emotions and thoughts that pull us through traumatic, life-changing experiences. Her book is beautifully written with carefully crafted narrative that reminded me a little of `The Five People you Meet in Heaven'.

Death, especially the death of a child, is a subject most people do not want to think about, but this book bravely tackles it head-on in a tale that is by turns painful, tender - and yes, even joyful. This is not a `sad' book but more of a journey through the process of personal growth. I would encourage anyone who fears or confronts death or bereavement - which let's face it, is all of us - to read it.

5 out of 5 stars Ted Menten has gotten it right........2000-04-01

This tiny book evokes tears, smiles and nods of understanding as Ted Menten's vignettes hold our hands through the process of grief. As a counselor myself, it is evident that this author has spent many hours in the company of grief. The beauty of his book is that it embraces and validates what only grievers know: you don't get over things and move on, but you move on holding your loved one forever in your heart.

4 out of 5 stars After Goodbye.......2000-02-03

I think this is a marvelous little book. Ted Menten puts everything in perspective pertaining to grief. I cherish this little book.

4 out of 5 stars "Fluff" isn't necessarly bad...and this book is quite good........1999-10-16

One reviewer said this book was little more than "fluff". I believe that lots of people look too much to external sources for the "magic bullet" to make them quit grieving.

In my grief (widowed) I have found that this book was one that really got it right, and one of the biggest things to give me support was just being able to read someone who understood what I was going through.

Menten, while I don't think he was a widower like me, somehow does a fantastic job in getting it right.

I would highly suggest this book and will give it to other widows/widowers in the future.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars 12 Roses for 9.......2005-04-04

Recommend this book inna heartbeat. Well written, easy to read, opens the heart. Keep kleenex handy, but they're easy tears, from feeling all the love, not hard tears. Critters are a bargain, for just a little food and shelter, you get all that love. If you know anyone who abuses their Critters, tell them to stop, okay?
