Hidden Mickeys.......2007-06-01
I am a long time Walt Disney World fan and love the challenge of finding the Hidden Mickeys. This book was recommended by a friend who thought I would like to see some of the more challenging Hidden Mickeys. I was not disappointed. The author has made this into fun scavenger hunt for the whole family.
Once you start looking, there's no turning back!.......2007-05-23
Some of my most enjoyable moments at Walt Disney World took place after my husband and I purchased Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey's 2nd Edition! We began searching based on our location or ride line queue then that search continued at our resort and so on. This book gives you hints and tips on locating these Hidden Mickeys that have become pretty famous among visitors and fans, and when you really can't find Mickey, the book will list the exact location! After reading this book, I've become a fanatic and even find Hidden Mickey's in places there really aren't any - like my lawn where three pebbles fit the bill for a HM perfectly. This is a great way to entertain yourself or you children in lines at the parks or in shops and restaurants too!
A lot of fun & great for repeat visitors!!.......2007-04-10
We had so much fun with this! My kids were constantly searching for more. My husband & dad were a little skeptical at first, but were looking for them by the end of the trip. We found so many new things and enjoyed the search. We are Disney veterans and it made our trip much more interesting. Definitely will buy the next edition!!!
Fun for Families on Return Visits - 3.5 Stars.......2007-04-07
This book is a lot of fun. It's a great introduction to the concept of going to the parks and having a multi-layered experience. If you've been before, and you are going back, you obviously like Disney anyway. But it is fun (particularly for kids) to have an additionaly "mystery" to solve while walking the park and standing in line. The idea is that there are all kinds of "hidden mickeys" throughout the parks. A hidden mickey is basically a simple image of mickey's head: a large circle with two smaller circles connected (his ears). So the book explains all this, and has lists for where to find them. As a bonus, it also provides suggested iteneraries to avoid long lines and find certain hidden mickies. It's a lot of fun.
The down side to the book, from my perspective, is that it is difficult to find any one thing. The authors break information up by the purpose they assume a given reader might have, but if your need doesn't match one of those, you find yourself looking in many different places in the book for info. Another problem, and maybe its a "user error," but we couldn't find many of the hidden mickey's based on the descriptions in the book. They just didn't seem specific enough. Finally, many of the hidden mickey's, to me were just circles - a real stretch.
So I don't see this book as a definitive list of hidden mickies. I found this book to be more of a popularizer of a cool idea, with some very good ideas (e.g., the itineraries) added as a bonus. It's worth your dollars, but it won't be the best book on the subject written, I suspect.
OK, but not complete.......2006-10-02
This book is a lot of fun, but I question some of the hidden Mickeys in the book. Some aren't exactly hidden (the Mickey's in MouseGear at EPCOT, for example) but merely decorations. Other are very questionable and really aren't hidden Mickeys at all (by this I mean, just because there are three circles together doesn't mean they are a Mickey. A true Mickey has one large circle with two smaller circle ears). Other Mickeys are just over looked. For a free list of the Mickeys, you can also just checkout SpaceCoast Hidden Mickeys on the web. Overall, it's a fun book, but don't buy it if you are looking for a real list of the Mickeys.

Busch Gardens & Sea World Guide.......2007-04-03
Beyond Disney is meant to be used as a second guide when planning a trip to Orlando. They assume that you have purchased a guide for Walt Disney World and are using this one for the other theme parks in the area. This is a good idea but there are some problems with it. First, the Universal Parks are already covered in the The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2008 (Unofficial Guides) and that material is simply dropped in here with no additions. So if you have the WDW book, then you don't need to see that again here.
The main value in this book lies in the coverage of Sea World and Busch Gardens. Both are major theme parks and get full coverage here. This is the only book in the Unofficial Guide series where you'll find that material and many of the other publishers ignore those parks completely. If you are interested in attending either park, then I highly recommend Beyond Disney. If you plan to stick to WDW and/or the Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure area then you can safely skip this.
A "must have".......2007-03-09
A real handy guide to help plan not only your day, but what rides to hit and what rides to miss depending on what you are looking for. Very accurate and easy to work with
beyond disney:The unofficial guide to universal & seaworld.......2006-03-01
It was a very good book to have when we went to Florida. SeaWorld it told us alot about it. We did SeaWorld 2 times. Universal we did not do when we were there. Universal we really did not have time for it. If you like to go on rides then Universal is for you.
Our vacation's best investment.......2005-06-19
We just got back from our Orlando vacation. I had read and re-read this book before going, even made notes. It was the best preparation I did. We were ready for everything and I we did everything we wanted to do by taking the author's advice. I recommend buying it before visiting the Orlando area.
Good, but not great.......2000-10-24
This is a companion book to the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World," for those who decide to venture beyond Disney's realm in central Florida. The authors do a fine job rating attractions (rides, films, displays, etc.). They use star-ratings coupled with their assessments and readers' comments, along with a healthy dose of humor--all of which will be familiar to readers of the "Walt Disney World" book. It's all-too familiar in the case of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. In fact, it's simply a verbatim extract of the "Walt Disney World" text. Worse yet, it omits one of the best features of the Disney book: the touring plans.
If you're planning a trip to Universal Studios, and/or Islands of Adventure, stick with Sehlinger's Disney book: it contains more and better coverage. Sea World receives better coverage here. And this is the only "Unofficial Guide" coverage of the other parks.
Book Description
Described as a must have (in PW Daily May We Recommend 9/3/03) and definitely something that you'll want to bring along the next time you head down to WDW by Disney guru Jim Hill of jimhillmedia.com, Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickeys is a necessity for Walt Disney World (WDW) buffs. This updated third edition adds scores of new hidden Mickeys and eliminates those erased by time.

Hidden Mickeys Quest.......2007-09-07
This book was a lot of fun when we were at WDW in Aug 07. We visited resorts and restaurants we wouldn't have other gone to and we noticed details that would have been overlooked if we hadn't been on our Hidden Mickey's quest. We even found hidden Mickeys that weren't in the book. We also had the PassPorters Treasure Hunts at Walt Disney World, but doing both was too much so we choose the Hidden Mickeys.
Hidden Mickey's: A Field Guide to Fun.......2007-07-17
It's fun book to bring with you if you're going to Disney World, it's a fun game to play with your family when you're at The World

Useful guide for Sea World & Busch Gardens.......2007-09-02
Beyond Disney is meant to be used as a second guide when planning a trip to Orlando. They assume that you have purchased The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2008 (Unofficial Guides) or something similar and are using this one for the other theme parks in the area. This is a good idea but there are some problems with it. First, the Universal Parks are already covered in the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and that material is largely dropped in here with no significant changes. So if you have the Unofficial WDW book, then you don't need to see that again here.
The main value in this book lies in the coverage of Sea World and Busch Gardens. Both are major theme parks and get full coverage here. I found the Busch Gardens information especially helpful. Busch has so many attractions that you can't possibly enjoy every one in a single day and this guide will help you focus on what you might enjoy the most. This is the only book in the Unofficial Guide series where you'll find material on Busch and Sea World, and many of the other publishers ignore those parks completely. If you are interested in attending either park, then I highly recommend Beyond Disney. If you plan to stick to WDW and/or the Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure area then you can safely skip this.
Surfing Sea World.......2007-07-18
This book helped us navigate the Orlando experience minus Disney. the tips in the book let us breakfast at Sea World before it "officially" opened. We saw more of the shows and the animals because of the great directions in this book. I tore the pages for Sea World right out of my copy of the book, so I could have the information with me at the park without the problem of carrying the big book.
Kudos to the author and his research!
Guide to Central Florida.......2007-05-19
Complete and informative guide to the attractions in Central Florida arrived in new condition and on schedule, as it was ordered before it was available. It's up-to-date information makes it very useful for the tourist and resident alike. It's amazing to see what all is available in our area.

This is a great book for younger girls. My 5 year old loves Disney princesses and she was very excited to get this book. The story is good and easy for her to follow.

skip this and buy the unofficial guide.......2007-05-17
like many others, i bought this book expecting to find the inside tips on luxurious activities at disney world. but this book just reads like a regular guide book. and as a regular guide book, i don't feel that it is as comprehensive or useful as sehlinger's unofficial guide. to make matters worse, the info in this book is several years out of date. sehlinger's books are updated every year.
A Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World?????.......2006-09-30
First, let me say that the book is well written and I love the gray boxes that pop up here and there with little tips for romance, etc.
The rest of this book is like a condensed version of any other Walt Disney World guide book out there. When she does mention the luxuries it is simply a list of her favorites which includes Universal Studios, Sea World and the Downtown Disney hotels.
I thought, (given the title) this book is about Walt Disney World.
I would really have liked to read more about the luxurious side of Disney World. In this book you will walk away knowing just as much about a counter service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom as you would about Victoria and Albert's. The website does not offer much more in the way of information either.
Very disappointed.
I highly recommend Walt Disney World and Orlando 2007 from Frommer's - worth every penny!
Luxury Guide should include luxury activities.......2006-07-14
I purchased this guide to add to my collection of DIsney World travel books, and I was quite disappointed. From the book descriptions I was expecting a guide to all the luxurious activities and experiences available at the resort with great detail. This guide skims over most Disney attractions and does not provide any information that is not available via disney's website. I would like to see more details and even ballpark prices on some activities. Personal experience testimonies would also benefit the listings in this book.
There was nothing really luxury about this book.......2005-02-08
This book was basically the same as most of the other books on Disney. It is just compiled into one book. This book claims to tell you how to get the most out of your disney vacation and it doesn't do that. Actually the best information I have ever found on Disney and the most up-to-date information was found on All Ears Net dot Com. It has more information than you could find in any book and best of all is free.
Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World.......2004-12-31
I am so glad I purchased The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World. I used this book on our trip to Disney World December 2004. I was guided to order tickets ahead of time for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade and the Candlelight Christmas Dinner Package. This helped us get to choose which day we wanted for each show and no worries about missing anything!! My family and I got to see Jim Caviezel and it was GREAT!! I highly recommend this book to any family going to Disney World. Patti from Alabama

Excellent!.......2007-07-09
I bought a bunch of these Look and Find books for our daughter (including this one). She received one for her first birthday (Pooh) and that started the shopping trend. The bright colored illustrations and the suggestions at the back of every book on how to use the books to play different games are wonderful! Highly recommended for just about any age! Plus the large size and padded covers are great!

Interesting perspective.......2006-12-18
I didn't expect a Birnbaum or Unofficial Guide to Disney when I read this book, so unlike the negative reviewer, I was pleased with what I found.
I found this to be an interesting perspective on the parks, that didn't pull punches. I liked hearing how a teenager perceived the different
rides and attractions. This could be quite helpful if you are traveling to Disney World with teenagers.
The book is a bit outdated now, but it still had some useful information.
A GREAT REVIEW!.......2004-04-04
I am 13 years old, and my brother is 15, and we are going to walt disney world this easter. We really enjoyed this book's great tips and facts. Hopefully they will come in handy!
it was awesome.......2002-12-23
Im a teenager that gos down to disney world a lot and i loved this book!!!
Quite possibly the worst WDW guide I have read.......2001-05-01
Clearly the author cannot speak for her generation at all. Her reviews are biased and opinionated, and her tips offer little to no help for those unfamiliar with the Walt Disney World resort. She refers to Epcot's trademark attraction, Spaceship Earth, as a "snooze," when I have seen plenty of teenagers who having nothing but good remarks to say about the ride.
My advice: stick with "Birnbaum's Official Guide." It is suitable for WDW fans of ALL ages: from young children, through teens, honeymooners, and the elderly. It will offer you far better--and less opinionated--information.
A nice change from all the Disney cheerleading.......2000-09-14
I'm taking a youth group to Disney World this fall and bought this book along with several others. I must say I appreciate the fact that the authors gave their honest opinions about what rides are good for teens and which ones are just so-so. We have limited time in the theme parks during our visit and really need to use our time wisely, but the "official guides" we all rah-rah and "Everything is equally great." This was much more like "If you can only do five things, these are the things you should do." And, like somebody else said, it really does sound like it was written by a teenager.
