David Beckham skills.......2007-05-08
It is a nice book. But I was more expecting a chance on his expertise on running drills for kids to get better. It is more of a fan book. Sort of an autobiography.
Book Description
The first comprehensive field guide to freshwater fishes - covers all 790 species known in the United States and Canada. More than 700 illustrations, most in color, show identifying marks. Also includes 377 distribution maps and additional drawings of key details.
Customer Reviews:
Five stars!.......2007-01-17
Great book with lots of pictures of species. I hoped that there would be photos for EACH species of fish but there was not. Each fish is documented though even if there is no picture for each. Many species are shown. I still have to give it 5 stars. This book is a great size too. It is not oversized. Perfect for travel.
A waste of money.......2006-10-07
This book may be of interest to an icthyolgist, but it's not much use to a fisherman. The color illustrations are very poor. They all have a washed out yellowish tint, and thus the illustrated fish tend to look all alike. The non color illustrations are better, but the book relies mostly on descriptions.
An indispensible guide to fish.......2006-03-01
I perform wildlife surveys for corporations all over the east coast. Half the weight of my equipment is Peterson Field Guides, which give me quick and easy identification of flora and fauna found and often eliminates the need for dicotomous keys and microscope work. This particular guide has helped me puzzle out a lot of small fish I come across. Well written, excellant illustrations, an important part of my library.
Far from great.......2004-09-30
This book has some of the worst fish illustrations i have ever seen. Text is far too brief. This volume tries to cover too much and does not cover anything well....
Finishing the Trilogy.......2001-10-30
It might interest the reader of this review (since your looking at the book) to know that while fresh water only represents about 1% of the available aquatic habitat on earth over half of the known species of fish live in it. I'll leave it up to you to find out why. Peterson Field Guides have a winning formula, find an expert, set them up with a good illustrator and see what comes out. This book finishes the trio that covers all of the fishes likely to be encountered by a North American fisherman, diver or naturalist. Like the Fishes of the Atlantic Coast and the Fishes of the Pacific Coast it is well organized, well written, all inclusive (of species) and as informative as space will allow. If you are curious about fishes in general or encounter fresh water fish with any kind of regularity you owe it to yourself to find out what they are. And, if you live in North America you should have this book.

The Last Word on David Beckham
There is only one David Beckham -- and it's not always the one you read about in the newspapers and magazines or see in the movies. From humble East End London beginnings, the boy with prodigious soccer skills grew up to be one of the most gifted athletes of his generation as well as a sex symbol and fashion icon. Along the way he married Spice Girl Victoria "Posh" Adams, and together they inhabit a celebrity whirlwind of Diana-esque proportions. In
Both Feet on the Ground, David talks candidly about the perils of fame (his wife and son were the targets of a notorious kidnapping plot and he is the subject of almost daily tabloid rumors); the struggle to balance his roles as a devoted husband and besotted father with his globetrotting existence as an international soccer star; the behind-the-scenes stories of his most memorable and heartbreaking (if only he could retake that infamous penalty kick against Portugal in Euro 2004) career moments; the controversy surrounding his first year at Real Madrid after his $41 million transfer from Manchester United, the storied English team he joined as a teenager and led for more than a decade; and, finally, his love of America, where he plans to start a soccer school and perhaps, one day, even play professionally.
Both Feet on the Ground is David Beckham's own extraordinary story, told by the man who knows him best -- David Beckham.
Download Description
The legend of David Beckham -- soccer god, global sex symbol, style icon -- as only he can tell it. The international soccer star speaks candidly about the pressures of celebrity, goes behind the scenes of his most memorable career moments -- and sets the record straight.

A great/Fast Read..........2007-09-10
A great read. David really talks in depth about his early roots in football.
Short and sweet - if you want to know about the world best soccer players....read his autobiography!
Great insight to the world's most well-known athelete.......2006-03-13
The life of David Beckham is often splashed across the tabloids and may or may not be the truth. In this honest autobiography, Mr Beckham details beginning as a boy with a passion for soccer, meeting the girl of his dreams, his role as proud father, and his triumphs and defeats playing for Manchester United and now for Real Madrid. Readers not avid fans of soccer will also find this memoir inspiring.
Beckham, Both Feet on the Ground.......2006-01-21
Are you looking for a great book to read? Then the book for you is Beckham Both Feet on the Ground. This is a fantastic autobiography by one of the greatest living soccer players of all time. You're probably thinking yuck soccer. That's boring. Well you couldn't be any more wrong. This book not only talks about his incredible soccer career, but he also talks about his fantastic stories of his childhood and his wonderful wife and children. This book goes through his whole life story from when he was a little boy in London to his new home in Real Madrid. He is said to be the next big soccer prodigy the world has ever seen. Is it true? He tells many stories of his glories victories to his upsetting losses. This book is an emotional roller coaster. From getting a red card in the world cup to winning the FA Primer league with his beloved club team Manchester United. This book is the number one international best seller. It was easy to understand. It was a lengthy book but don't be intimidated. It was so intriguing that you wont want to put it down. There are also a variety of pictures to help better understand what he is saying. To read more about the wonderful life of David Beckham pick this book up were ever books are sold.
King Of Marketing!.......2005-12-21
It has been many years since this guy stopped worrying about playing soccer, and focused solely in his obligations with sponsors, in posing for photos, etc. He has won absolutely nothing in Real Madrid, a team so engulfed by its millionaire stars that no coach can make it work as an efficient soccer team.
It's useless to read a book about this narcisist guy.
Decent book, extraordinary story.......2005-05-02
i went into this book a tad reluctant...i thought beckham was a showboat, spoilt brat...and so forth. "both feet on the ground" has enlightened me a little bit but some steretypes remain.
its a decent bordering good book, david's early life, which is quite intresting to read, his intro to man utd, and his exit....it has a LOT of info on his exit and the months leading up to it.
i guess what really makes this book average is that david basically talks about himself....an autobiography you might say....yet if anyone's ever read pele's book "my life and the beautiful game" you'll realise what i'm talking about. pele's book is extraordinary, a marvel, a must read in my opinion...the true rags to riches story. a story about a boy who becomes a man and yet never forgets the humility that he started with.
davids book on the other hand is just about the opposite...many may say that it is a smaller or inferior story of rags to riches, but he doesnt display the humility...he claims he's shy, yet is VERY angry at being put on the substitute bench for manchester united!!!! one of the biggest clubs in the world, some people would kill to just be on their reserves...this guy says he's too good, he says he thinks he is one of man utds best 11. i dont belive in being too good or being the best that you can't sit on the bench an odd game....i guess what i'm saying is that david has a remarkable story, scape goat for england's 1998 world cup exit to englands captain for the 2002 finals, but he lacks humility, too much pride i guess. he talks a lot about his wife victoria...a lot more about her legs....a whole lot more about her legs!!! and how he wooed her. and driving a fancy car to dates and so forth.
anyway, about the book, i feel he misses a lot....he doesnt say much about his team mates, like jaap stam, ole gunnar soljaer, or the retirement of eric cantona.
his co author Tom Watt has a football, soccer background so a lot of what david feels comes out in the book. i myself think they robbed the book of lot of enjoyment by trying to please american audiences, although the more young kids who read this the better. david's done a heap in his life and his achievments alone make him a suitable role model. but my point being that putting in phrases that like soccer, trapping the ball, exhibition game and such, kind of take the spice out of it, it feels a little forced.
to end i'll say, it is much easier for me to nit-pick and critisize "both feet on the ground" it is much harder to do what beckham has done, to overcome the hurdles he has, and to put your soul out in a book, so in a way it is unfair for me to critisize beckham. his life is an achievment of such magnitude that is incomprehensible. if you want to read this book to gain inspiration, then it might not be the one, pele's definetly is. but if you want to read this book to know more about david becham and his life, his story, then this is definetly the book for you.
i feel "both feet on the ground" might not be an appopriate title. maybe just beckham, "my life, my world"
Book Description
From the time when, as an eight-year-old girl, she saw the movie Fame, Victoria wanted to be a star. There was a line from the title song that stayed with her-'I'm gonna live forever, I'm gonna learn how to fly'. With this extraordinary book she gives us the chance to follow her on her journey from lonely teenager to international star; to fly alongside her.
Customer Reviews:
best autobiography.......2007-09-04
i first decided to get this book because i'm a fan of victoria beckham. when i read the book i was really pleased with it. it was well structured and it gives you a better idea of what victoria beckham is really like. supposedly there's all these speculations about her being a diva, but after reading this book i really don't believe those stories anymore. by reading the book, it seems as though your listening to a long time friend's life story. i really like this book and reccomend it. i seriously didn't want it to end and wish she came out with another autobiography.
Victoria Beckham.......2007-08-12
This book is great. Victoria is truly open about her life. It makes you see a different side of the person you see in all the tabloids. She allows you to peak into her world. It is heartbreakingly honest. She doesn't try to skip the hard parts of her life. We can see how the Spice Girls developed and how the girls got along. Victoria allows the reader to take a peak into a marriage (and romance) that has overcome many obstacles to raise 3 kids and lead a happy life. She even reveals how it felt when people accused David of cheating on her.
I didn't know what to expect when I started the book but I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book in one night (staying up until 4:00 in the morning). I have a new respect for Victoria Beckham that I wouldn't have had otherwise. I have always admired her fashion sense but I have a new respect for the person behind all the photographs. It is a must read for anyone who wants to learn more about Victoria Beckham.
Great Book.......2006-08-14
The book was amazing. Victoria talks to you like you are her best friend and she's just letting it all out. I have always been a huge fan and after reading this I respect her even more.
Victoria Beckham is DELUDED!!!.......2006-07-20
This book on the surface seems to be just another quickly rushed, put together autobiography for monetary reasons alone...which is Victoria Beckham all over. This book is now a few years old and you'd be surprised that since it's publication the amount of contraditions that have been exposed about this talentless, insecure, attention hungry, mean to the bone so called "entertainer" is hilarious. If you want to be sucked into this con game then go ahead but lies, lies, lies will be all you'll be reading. A big fat 0/10 for this one.
Absolutley Fabulous.......2006-07-05
Victoria Beckham's masterpiece... although in the beginning, it is a little "slow," it was still NOT a let down. i absoluetly thought this book was fantastic. even though i just found out about her, i was thrilled to read all about her. she is a wonderful inspriration to me. for those who are unsure of buying this book, don't slack... buy it immediatly. you won't regret it because you see, i don't really enjoy reading. however, i love this autobiography by victoria as well as her awesome music. i can't wait to finish this book!

Girl Power.......2004-02-17
Ok. Bend it Like Beckham is exceedingly well done in its performances by the actors. Translation= that movie was awesome. Not only does it show the drive of many girls today but it added music and a hot coach. It is absolutely a good movie for soccer fans out there. It needed work on showing more soccer scenes but all in all it's a movie worth seeing.

Bend it like Beckham - Review
We think it's good that we are told something about the problems of young Indian people. The book deals with prejudices many people have about them. We can also learn much about the Indian culture. The main actor is a young Indian girl called Jess. She wants to play football in a professional girls team, but her parents don't like that because it's against their culture. She doesn't want to disappoint her parents but she attain her wishes.
The film is a good possibility for young people to realize that everybody can reach his or her aims. In our opinion it is advantageous that the film shows reality and not the science-fiction-world.
We think it's better to watch the film first and then to read the book. We don't like that the book was written after the film was already in the cinema. In our opinion Narinda Dhami could have put some new things into the book. The book is funny and dramatic at the same time and you can read it easily.

One of the best..........2005-11-20
I have read a lot of books on PhotoShop Elements but this is probably the best for my skill level (beginner - intermediate). The 220 pages are packed with great ideas and techniques - all well displayed and simply explained.
Book Description
Earl "The Goat" Manigault had what it takes to become a superstar: incredible leaping ability, great timing, and unstoppable moves. He set a New York City junior high school record by scoring 52 points in one game. In high school and on the playgrounds of Harlem, he astonished opponents with his acrobatic shots, including the patented double dunk.
Although seventy-two colleges offered him scholarships, lack of discipline and bad breaks sent Manigault stumbling into a world of heroin addiction and petty crimes for three years. He succumbed to the fast lane life that sapped the lives of so many of his friends in the 1960s.
The Goat kicked the habit, however, and then returned to Harlem to start his own summer basketball league for black youth.
This inspiring story of how one man rebuilt his life is told with vivid, no-holds-barred descriptions of the harshness, humor and love in today's inner city.
