Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

5 out of 5 stars Very Interesting.......2007-03-07

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars One of the BEST books I've ever read!!!.......2007-08-08

If you are a Christian, and have wondered about the book of Revelations, this book is a must. I have not found a more intensive, deep, and thorough review than what Henry Morris does in this book.
My wife and I read through it every morning for our devotions and have loved every minute of it!!! A++++++

5 out of 5 stars Best commentary I have read.......2007-07-13

This book is obviously inspired! He provides insights and other supporting scripture for his views. His verse by verse review provides insights well beyond just the book of Revelation.

5 out of 5 stars The best verse by verse commentary on the Book of Revelation........2007-01-01

Henry Morris, a layman, has written the best verse by verse commentary on The Book of Revelation I have ever read. In this fantastic work he, as a layman, has provided a detailed verse by verse study that puts "professional" theologians in the dust.

This book is very readable while offering a very in depth study of Revelations. Mr. Morris' commentary is heavy with supporting scriptural references which provokes the reader to further study and allows the reader to come to their own conclusions. Readers should be aware that Mr. Morris very adequately supports the pre-tribulation view on "end times" theology providing sufficient scriptural support for his position.

This book is great as a devotional, bible study product or as a resource for sermon preparation.

The Revelation Record is a must read for every believer in Christ!

5 out of 5 stars God "Blessed" This Man With Incredible Wisdom & Discernment!.......2006-04-19

Having read and studied many, many books and commentaries on the Book of Revelation, this work of Mr. Morris's is truly the "Best Of The Best"! He lays out a common sense approach to each chapter and verse and also adds many other scripture references that "tie" in with the Revelation verses, showing that much time and study preceded the penning of this work! God never intended for us (His True Believers in Jesus Christ) to not understand His Word! That would absolutely be "ludicrous", as we would have absolutely no proper direction in life! (The unbelievers lot)! We were meant to receive "discernment" of God's entire Word and this book is a "great" study in this endeavor. Where God simply has concluded that we do not need further enlightenment in a scripture verse there is no discernment. Mr. Morris however, delightfully gives us various scenarios such as in the 24 elders. Whoever they are, the "fact" is stated that they were "worshiping" the "true" Lord and Savior on the Throne! This is a great and wonderful "tool" in teaching and "witnessing" about the Book of Revelation!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing book.......2005-12-25

You won't agree with every detail of Dr. Morris' commentary, but his commitment to a literal interpretation of the text will challenge you. Dr. Morris approaches Revelation with two simple assumptions: We should expect to understand Revelation. If the plain sense makes sense, seek no other sense. He challenges us with this question: Is Revelation really so hard to understand, or is it just hard to believe? His training in physics and engineering shows through on many pages. This commentary revolutionized my approach to Revelation!

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING, A MUST-READ!!!.......2005-08-22

I highly recommend this book to all, young or old, no matter what socio-economic status ... this book is a must-read. When read with an open heart and a faithful mind, this book will confirm what your intuition has already been telling you. Very comforting, very promising, very exciting.

3 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings.......2004-08-06

I did a review for the second book as well so I'll just add some different stuff here. I am very open minded (and open hearted which I think is more important) and found an underlying theme in the four books I read that did not feel right to me. You can read the material and just sense how it makes you feel. Some of the reviews make it sound like if you don't read it or if you find any issue with the material then you're a limited person. That's not the case at all! Just because something is channelled "from the other side of the veil" doesn't mean it's totally kosher. We exist on the other side of the veil too and we are all surrounded by beings all the time. It's up to us to determine what we want to integrate into this lifetime and what we don't. Trust your intuition with any material you read or listen to, your higher self knows what's what.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent information, helpful tips for the new millenium.......2003-05-21

The first time you read this book you will have the feeling that Kryon is speaking directly to you, through the voice of his channel, Lee Carroll.
Although this book was first published in 1992, the information presented here is more relevant now than ever. Kryon will give the reader knowledge about Karma, meditation, Jesus Christ and the times we are living. With the premise that we all came here on our own will, to learn and progress, Kryon leads the way on the transformation we crave in this new millenium. He will help you contact your guides and accelerate you spirituial growth, if that is what you relly want.
If you are a metaphysician or are into self growth, you will find that the easy, yet warm language and teaching of Kryon apply to your life.

5 out of 5 stars In The Beginning.......2002-10-23

The End is the Beginning. A new way of looking at the world and an explaination for so many mysterious sayings that no one seems to have an answer for. But Kryon does from a whole different perspective. I read and was amazed. If your ready for something new try this one. It's a great read.

5 out of 5 stars I'm Still Thinking.......2002-07-15

I'm in awe I think. I've never read anything like this book. And I have read other channelled books. I really can't make up my mind about it's validity. A very thought provoking book and it makes me want to read more. This is the first of the Kryon Books and I'm glad I read the THE PARABLES OF KRYON first, because it was so good I immediately ordered this first in the series. I've really got to think about this one. But I do recommend it highly. Just be ready for new material. I've already ordered the second in the series which is supposed to answer the questions raised in the first book. Wish me luck.

I bought this guide and was very disappointed. I normally just read user made walkthroughs but thought it would b e useful to have a book with maps. My main complaint is that the book just gives the bosses main information and not any strategies to defeating them. Save your money and don't buy this.

    5 out of 5 stars Great Item.......2006-07-31

If you are looking for a good strategy guide for this game then this is the one for you. And when I got it it was in great condition. I suggest it to anyone who is in love with the Star Ocean series.

    4 out of 5 stars Fun RPG.......2006-03-12

This RPG was great fun if you enjoy picking your players and experimenting with weapons and magic. It starts in the future and travels into the past, ending back in the future. It has extra dungeons after you solve the game which really enhances play time. The only thing I didn't care for is in a battle you could only select one character at a time and the other two characters fight by computer selection which was not always a good thing. Other than that, if you love RPGs with a fun story this is a great game.

5 out of 5 stars You Need This Book to Play This Game.......2006-01-15

If you bought Star Ocean recently and thought you could get away without having a strategy guide, you're going to get frustrated and toss the game. Or you may decide to just be frugal and use an online guide; but will get lost using it and eventually give up playing. You NEED this strategy guide.
    Here are some reasons why:

-Locations in the game aren't marked on the map, they are color coded. This book gives you an area by area map of all the items and the locations to different zones. This helps a lot when you have to backtrack and forget which zone goes into where. (And you will backtrack several times)

-It helps BIG TIME with bosses who have high HP, but low MP. You don't always know what you're going against, and if you're prepared it makes things easier.

-In terms of the insanely intricate crafting system on Star Ocean, it's going to be a no-brainer that you'll be using the book non-stop. The guides on GAMEfaqs.com and IGN don't help you out well enough to figure out what items you need, and how to craft.

-Private Actions/Endings: The game can be beaten several different ways (I believe it's seven, much like Chrono Trigger). This guides helps you determine what endings you want to see first.

-Character Standings: This is another big thing the guide covers which online guides can't help you out on. This shows you what private actions determine your standing with that character, which in turn, determines how well they fight for you.

Like others have been saying, you'll be doing a lot of page flipping, back and forth checking the maps on where to go next. A good pullout page for the map locations would have been a lot better than the crafting system map they provided instead. Either way though, I couldn't have beat the game without this.

I've been playing RPGs for over 13 years, and I've never had to rely on a strategy guide as much as this one. I seriously suggest buying this book if you are really interested in beating the game. Stop being cheap and get a copy before they go out of stock.

I bought this book hoping it would help me understand end time prophecy, especially the 70th week of Daniel. I read other materials on the subject, which were well researched and worth the read. This book was not in the same league - I could not finish it. The book IS NOT scholarly, it gives no historical support for its interpretations. Hated the tone, too. The author is expressing his subjective opinion about the end times, and makes a lot of assumptions about what the prophecy text means, without any support.

4 out of 5 stars Very interesting - a totally different believable perspective..........2007-05-08

The author has certainly reviewed his topic extremely well. It should be said that this is maybe more a "Bible Study" than a general read on End-times, and if I had realised this, I would have read the book very differently. It does need to be read with your Bible alongside. The only problem I had with it was that it was so detailed, and at times confusing in the reading of same, that you do really need to be awake and alert to take it all in! That is not a criticism, but just an observation.

5 out of 5 stars Most complete and accurate book on prophecy you will ever find!.......2006-10-11

One of the many points made by KINGDOM OF THE BEAST is the true nature of the that kingdom. It convincingly dismisses the erroneous theories of a revised Roman Empire, and brings the focus back into the Middle East where it belongs. Daniel's prophesies always jump thousands of years from the Greek Empire to the Empire of the Beast, and he always made it clear that the anti-Christ would rule over a latter day ten nation version of that regional empire. Revelation makes it distinctly clear that Rome was in fact skipped over. The divided Greek Empire had little to do with Greece, and everything to do with the Middle East; including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey, and a portion of North Africa. Ezekiel's prophesy concerning Gog of Magog, where Gog attempts to destroy Israel, identifies the same area and nations. The anti-Christ will rule over ten Middle East and North African nations, and from there he will first conquer Israel and then begin to eliminate Christians and Jews from his own ten nation empire before he turns his attention outward to the rest of the world. Daniel tells us that he will tread down and devour the earth and stamp the residue. He will influence the affairs of all nations through jihad, terror, economy (no oil for those without the mark of the beast) and by claiming to be God, without ever controlling a one world government.

The ten nation empire of the beast will be comprised of those Islamic nations who hate Israel the most and who are currently the breeding ground of terrorist. Islam teaches that at the end of the world a final Imam will come to lead Muslims on a killing spree against Jews and Christians. The Qur'an teaches that Jesus (Isa) did not die on the cross but that Allah took Him into heaven. Many Muslims believe that Jesus is the final Imam who will return to massacre Christian and Jewish infidels and establish Islam as the final religion. That makes Islam a polar opposite of Christianity. Two religions with two diametrically opposed conclusions to world events. Jesus will be both Christ and anti-Christ. Which religion you embrace determines who He is to you.

KINGDOM OF THE BEAST clearly differentiate between the Tribulation and the Wrath of God. Until you are able to see the difference between the two all of prophecy will remain a muddled mess. Most people lump them together under the heading of Tribulation while in their minds they are thinking wrath, or punishment from God. This is not so. The debate over pre, mid or post Tribulation Rapture of the Church comes to a sudden halt when you are able to distinguish between the events that make up the Tribulation which comes from Satan and his anti-Christ, and the Wrath that comes from God alone upon those who cause the Great Tribulation.

KINGDOM OF THE BEAST clearly illustrates the difference between the second coming of Christ and the seldom mentioned third and final coming of Christ. Jesus discuses His own second coming in Matthew 24 in response to His disciples inquiries, but He made no mention of His third coming because it had nothing to do with the question they had put to Him. His second coming is in the clouds in full view of everyone-"that Blessed Hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ." The skies temporarily become dark in obeisance to the Lord of the universe as He comes to gather His New Testament elect. On His third and final trip He returns on a white horse with the same elect that He gathered up at His second coming, all of them on white horses, but this time it is to remain on the earth and rule the remainder of mankind with a rod of iron after the Wrath of God is complete.

KINGDOM OF THE BEAST is a verse by verse explanation of Matthew 24, Daniel and Revelation which destroys all the erroneous theories, pet beliefs and misinformation which circulates through Christian and non-Christian circles alike. This book is an absolute necessity for Christians who need to know the truth of prophecy. It is a must for Jews who need to know what the future holds for their nation. It is an informative resource for the nonreligious providing a view into matters that are shaping the world around them. More than anyone else it is beyond imperative that Muslims read this book to discover how the Qur'an has not only turned the ancient prophecies of Christians and Jews inside out, but in so doing has put them on a collision course with the God of the Old and New Testaments.

KINGDOM OF THE BEAST is the most complete and accurate book on prophecy you will ever find.

    Testimonials

"I love your writings on the timing of the rapture. It is by far the best book ever written on this subject. I have not read any other book that clearly differentiates between wrath and tribulation as does yours."

"Just a note to thank you for clearing up years of confusion about revelation. With your help I now can see so clearly what God is trying to say to us."

"I've never heard anyone talk about the truth concerning what the Bible says about the end times in the way that you have."

"The thing that helped me the most is knowing the difference between the tribulation for believers and the wrath of God that will come for those who have rejected Jesus Christ."

    Once upon a time

    there was a grown-up

    looking for a book

    with very short bedtime stories

for a kid who wouldn't go to sleep.

So the grown-up picked up this book

    and read this flap

    and took the book home

    and read it out loud

    and they both laughed

    and fell fast asleep

    fast.

    Just like you.

    The end.

5 out of 5 stars Kloske just told our secret.......2007-06-04

This book was a gift and now I am giving it to everyone I know with young children. Kloske has definitely been there--all those nights we parents cut out a few words from a story to get to sleep that much sooner--if the book weren't so funny, I'd feel like he told our secret. This book is hysterical. Our six year old gets the humor and the younger children love the stories. Now "are you asleep yet?" is a nighttime family catch phrase. It's well worth every penny.

2 out of 5 stars Not what I was hoping for.......2007-02-09

I thought this would have short, cute fairy tales... instead I found "humorously" edited versions to abbreviate well-known fairy tales. Not really what I had in mind to read to the kids in the family. They didn't quite understand the humor.

I could totally relate to the underlying theme of this book so I bought it for our 4-year old because it sounded fun. While I can appreciate the humor, it doesn't keep his attention.

This is such a charming, fun and happy book. My children (2 and 4) giggle all the through the book.
We love it so much, I have purchased more for gifts. So many wonderful bed time stories with such a clever twist!

1 out of 5 stars This is child abuse.......2006-05-29

Aside from the noxious notion that a person can be absolutely justified by holding a particular set of opinions, nothing more thoroughly indicts Christianity than the following, which appears on page 17 of this book:

"The sad truth is that the worst days in world history are yet to come ... but if you understand prophecy, you don't have to worry. You have a place in God's plan ... Students of prophecy don't dread what's ahead because we know the One who holds the future."

In other words, don't worry or fret about the fate of the world; in fact, don't lift a finger except to page through Bible verses this book cherry-picks and interprets for you. The world and mankind are doomed, and hope lies solely in developing a "personal relationship" with a personage as contradictorily described in works transcribed, edited, translated and retranslated by pre-medieval primitives.

This is lazy fatalism dressed up as pious hope. Irresponsible adolescents express this same "theology" toward their own problems and shortcomings when they scoff "whatever" and turn back to their video game. So-called "hippies" used to call it "dropping out," and they thought it was a good answer, too. Maturity consists in growing out of precisely this.

Please, keep this irresponsible dreck away from children.

1 out of 5 stars BOOK IGNORES JESUS' PROPHECY OF "AT THE LAST DAY.".......2006-01-20

This book fails to address the words of Jesus Christ concerning "the last day" in John 6:39-40; John 12:48 and John 5:28-29 which are the basis for the historical view on this subject.

We are to interpret the unclear verses of the Bible by the clear ones. This author uses the unclear verses to fuel his speculations. He needs to listen to Jesus Christ.

Jesus says: "Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40).

"At the last day" - not 7 or 1007 years before the last day as this author believes.

Jesus says: "There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words. That very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day." (John 12:48)

This author needs to accept the very words of Jesus Christ when He says "at the last day."

Jesus says: "The hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear my voice and come out. Those who have done good will rise to live and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." (John 5:28-29)

This author changes the words of Jesus and tries to insert 1000 or 1007 years between Jesus' call and ignores the word "all". (See also John 11:24)

See 2 Peter 3:10-13 for a description of the last day. The rest of the Bible agrees with Jesus Christ not Tim Lahaye.

        Book Description

Pastor Jack Hayford believes the key to understanding the book of Revelation is to understand and correctly interpret the time and events surrounding the major earthquakes in Revelation. In E-Quake Pastor Hayford offers a practical study of the book of Revelation, not a speculative or sensationalized look at prophecy. Readers will understand how this revelation of Jesus Christ affects their lives today. He also shows them how to live in what are perhaps the end times, how to keep things in perspective, how to make sure their value system and priorities are in order, and how to apply the teaching of Revelation in practical ways.

5 out of 5 stars A thought provoking look into Revelation instead of another rant from a prophectic school of thought.......2007-01-11

This book takes you by surprise. Dr. Hayford starts by saying that the book is more a collection of sermons than his usual careful exegesis of scripture with footnotes and documentation. However this book makes more sense than all of the commentaries and rants of other authors combined. Dr. Hayford sets out to make the book of Revelation understandable as a book of worship and practical application for our lives today. Along the way he gives us insights into the real meaning and some clarity of the prophetic. Here are some nuggets to wet your appetite:

"The book of Revelation is the newspaper of tomorrow, but it is also a handbook for today. It forecasts a series of terrible and terrifying events, but at the same time it provides a perspective on the whole that affords us very practical hope" (page 7). "The book of Revelation is not a revelation of `stuff'; it is a revelation of Jesus. It is not a revelation of information; it is a revelation of Jesus. It is not a revelation of prophesies; it is a revelation of Jesus" (page 29). "The book of Revelation was not given to us as a book for speculation. It was not given as a coffee table book for the saints to sit around and talk about because it would be `fun to guess.' It was given for very pragmatic reasons: to encourage in the midst of trial, to motivate in the time of opportunity, to bring us to worship and praise before the Lord, and to realize that in the spirit of praise around His timeless throne, there is constantly an unscrolling of God's purpose in motion, which is worldwide, yet personal in its implications" (page 111).

This book may startle you by its conclusions. If you are a pre-trib dispensationalist or a Tim LaHaye fan, this book probably isn't for you. Dr. Hayford is very clear about his feelings on that approach: "The book of Revelation becomes distorted when a linear approach is taken. It is easy to become confused with this approach because the book of Revelation is not written in a linear fashion. It is a series of prophecies that are seen from different viewpoints" (page 137). "People want to turn it [the book of Revelation] into a linear progression from chapter 4 though the end of the book, but it can't be done. It can't be done without creating more questions and problems, which are strained at and worked at until we end up with something that has a certain amount of satisfaction: `Well, we've got that thing lined up.' The only problem is that anytime we think we have a prophecy lined up, we soon discover that we didn't have it as lined up as we thought. We end up speculating about everything that happens" (Page 179).

To conclude, if you want to make sense of the seals, and the trumpets, and all of the various overlapping symbols, events, and people, this book will help. If you want a neat system of theology that raptures you out of here at the first sign of trouble I recommend anything Dr. LaHaye writes instead. Blessings...

3 out of 5 stars Prosperity and Caste in revelational doctrine.......2005-02-13

My rebuttals are extremely pointed, but are given with the deepest respect for the person and ministry of Pastor Jack Hayford.
Problem one: Chapter two of E Quake focuses on worship as being the key to unlocking the vision. Pastor Jack mentions the struggling churches of Revelation 2 and 3, and rightly states that worship brings our focus onto Jesus, not methods, as the answer to any weakness present among His people.
However, I disagree with the position he takes that the worshipful giving away of resources in a financially struggling congregation guarantees the overflow of God's provisional blessing. The story he tells to verify this doctrine takes place, as all such stories regarding the prosperity doctrine do, in an American church. He argues that his point is correct because it worked. Of course it "worked!" But it doesn't "work" in the other 95% of the world.
The Lord's people in struggling third-world churches are no less loved by God than prosperous American churches, and they constantly give what little they have to support the Lord's work among them. We do these brothers and sisters wrong to mistake our privilege for entitlement!
The Bible nowhere teaches that being godly insulates a person from suffering. In fact, the Bible does much to dispel that theological error. The book of Job soundly refutes such nonsense, as does Jesus Himself, Paul, James, and yes, even the book of Revelation. It isn't for nothing that God comforts His people in Revelation 7:16 by saying that in His Presence, they will never again suffer from hunger pangs, dehydration, or lack if shelter!
Poverty is not a lack of faith.
One of the most touching messages I ever heard came from a Ugandan minister who told our congregation how his people walk for several hours to come to church, wearing the one piece of clothing they own. They cry out to God in intercession for America, with tears streaming down their faces, because "American Christians are a people of little obedience." The Ugandan Christians intercede hungry much of the time, not because they are fasting, but because they don't have enough food to eat.
These Christians know want. This minister has to answer very hard questions among his people, questions like, "If Jesus loves me so much, why does my baby have no food?"
Problem two: Pastor Jack gives several illustrations from his own ministry in chapter four of E Quake. It is to one of these examples that I desire to respond. I have been exposed to this particular illustration twice: at a function Jack Hayford spoke at, and in written form in E Quake. Both times it has disturbed me greatly.
In no way do I question his sincerity or motives. I don't doubt that he is completely unaware that he speaks from an experience of privilege. Yet pain is caused by the supposition he promotes, and although it is unintentional and innocent, it hurts, nevertheless.
His example is that a mechanic is a mechanic because God created him to be one. He does it because he loves it and wouldn't want to do anything else. He wasn't made to work in an office on Wall Street. Being a mechanic is his "place" in the world.
        Ouch.
People of means, that is, those who have the luxury of choosing for themselves what kind of job will let them feel fulfilled, no doubt applaud this saying. They could be engineers, bankers, or politicians at their whim; or, if it so suits their desire, mechanics. It doesn't matter. They can pursue whatever they wish. They are privileged; life has many options, none of which involves suffering.
However, there is a different reality for those who were not born white, male, and privileged. In most cases, a mechanic or a waitress, day laborer, car wash attendant, etc., does the job they do not because they find fulfillment in it, not because they wouldn't want to work in a cushy office, and not because they love to sweat, but because they never had an opportunity to do any better.
Unlike the privileged class, their parents couldn't afford to send them to college so that they could rise above blue-collar level. They are desperate single moms struggling to raise several kids on minumum wage, because dad bailed out on paying child support. They come from a background of poverty where they are toiling up from generations of hardship caused by prejudice.
Are we to believe that this hardship is their ordained "place?" Please!
People who hold down two and three minimum wage jobs simultaneously that offer no health insurance and that barely make ends meet don't do so because they love it! They have no choice.
Perhaps the mechanic Pastor Jack mentions hates his job. Perhaps he dreamed of better things, once. But lacking the "connections" that opens the doors to the better things of life, dreams give way to reality. So, he works as a mechanic to put food on the table.
This is not as far-fetched as it sounds. I know a Guatemalan pediatric nurse who, due to the red tape of licensing differences, works here in the U.S. in a deli market all day. She hates it, but it pays the bills.
Only a generation ago, the white American population believed Latino crop pickers happily chose a nomadic life. They were meant to work the fields; it was their "place." The privileged believed blacks were created with less intelligence and were made to be second-class. They were expected to remember to keep their "place." Much the same is still believed about women.
Are these people or their forbearers created to be less than their potential because they are outside of America's privileged class? Was the lady who used to be a nurse but is forced by circumstance to be a deli clerk "made" by God to be a deli clerk or a nurse? It borders on the absurd!
The descendents of slaves are now lawyers, teachers, and scientists. The children of Vietnam War "house girls" have become accomplished musicians and students since immigrating to America. A homeless woman was recently admitted to Harvard.
So what does all this say? That slaves are created to be slaves, house girls created to be prostitutes, or homeless people created to wander the streets desolate? Hardly! Yet their progeny might have suffered the same fate had not opportunity arisen.
It is just as cruel to propose that hotel maids, grocery baggers, or gas station attendants are "made" by God to be lower caste. We are Christians, not Hindus. Status and privilege are simply that.

1 out of 5 stars Hayford should stick with other topics of the Bible.......2000-10-13

"A NEW Approach to Understanding the End Time Mysteries in the Book of Revelation"? That sub-title right there told me this book is false. Dr. Harry Ironside, one of America's greatest theologians of the past made this statement that certainly applies to Jack Hayford's book: "Be careful of any teaching that is new; it might not be true." There were other problems with the book as well. Jack Hayford downplays how bad the tribulation will be and makes the reader believe it's simply a bad time of persecution, rather than great calamity. The tribulation is a time to punish the ungodly and a time for God to deal with Israel again. The church will NOT be here. Stephen King couldn't put together what's really going to happen during the earth's darkest hour! Where in the world does Hayford come up with the idea that the white horse in Revelation 6 is Jesus? Jesus has already been crowned in Revelation 4 by the saints in heaven and doesn't have to work for the crowns as Hayford thinks. Didn't Hayford bother to look at the Greek words for "crown" in Revelation 6 and Revelation 19? They're two different words! "Crown" in chapter 6 is the word "stephanos" while chapter 19 is the word "diadema". Obviously, they're two different words! He also makes the rapture no big deal. Believe me, it will be a big deal! Hayford symbolizes the book of Revelation too much, a great danger to anyone studying Revelation. In short, the pre-wrath view of the rapture has seized America like a prairie fire. That's sad because it's a false theory that dates back to about 1977 or somewhere in the '70s. That's a far cry from the Pre-trib rapture that dates to the time of Christ and the Apostle Paul. Other writers have written commentaries on Revelation and they're pre-trib. Amazing how they've been preserved all these years! What makes this generation anymore special than past generations? Past generations spent much more time in the Bible. Today's generation is dumb compared to scholars up to 100 years ago. As my review title says, Hayford should stick with other topics in the Bible, ones he's better at. His view of Revelation is in serious error and is a far cry from "the blessed hope" in Titus 2:13.

5 out of 5 stars Hayford does it again!.......2000-05-21

Once again, Jack Hayford brings the Ancient Word to life for the modern reader. E Quake is a straightforward presentation of the Book of Revelation: not a verse by verse commentary, nor an emotionaly charged devotional. Hayford gives an honest appraisal of the what and why of Revelation, along with presenting the idea that Revelation is not so much about a future doomsday, but about present opportunities to give worship and do warfare in the name of Jesus Christ, who is coming in glory.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Introduction to the Book of Revelations.......2000-02-28

Although this book is not very long, Jack Hayford does an excellent job of introducing readers to the Book of Revelation. Of all the books in the new testament, I have always found Revelations the most difficult to understand. I am glad that Pastor Jack Hayford has finally written a book that gives definitive insight into some of the symbols, terms, and messages contained in the text.

Luckily for the reader, he does not try and explain every single verse in Revelations. So, if you are looking for an extremely detailed explanation of Revelations- don't buy this book.

Instead Pastor Hayford tries to give the reader a basic understanding of why Revelation was written, how the book is structured (something that I definitely misunderstood until I read this book), and what it means to us today. The one great lesson that became crystal clear to me after reading this book, is the importance of worshipping God in a Christian's life. Many Christians, myself included, underestimate the power and importance of worship in their Christian walk. Just like prayer, it a fundamental discipline that can make a world of difference in your life, and the life of the Church.

Just like one of the previous reviewers mentions, I hope Pastor Hayford does another follow-up book about Revelations. Now that I have a fundamental understanding of the book, I would like to dig a little deeper, and gain even greater insight.

I recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with trying to understand the Book of Revelations. If you are looking for an excellent source to give you a basic understanding of Revelations, look no further. Get a copy of this book and add it to your Christian library.
