This is a cute book, but my 10 month old daughter isn't that crazy about it. She has other books she likes much more.

5 out of 5 stars Love Love Love!.......2007-08-09

I purchased this book for my son when he was 15 months old and he loves this book. He brings it to me to read to him over and over again. The illustrations are fun, he loves the song, and he knows all the body parts now. Many times I have seen him flipping through the book on his own "studying" the pictures. Given I don't usually pay to buy new books that cost more than a dollar or two, this one was definately worth it!

1 out of 5 stars Buy "Where's My Belly Button" instead.......2007-06-13

This is merely a verbatim book version of the old playschool song "head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes . . " It could be made a bit more worthwhile if the art was engaging or dynamic in some way, but it's blah (think Precious Moments meets Charlie Brown) and does little to enhance a young childs perception of where to find his/her head, shoulders, knees . . well you get to idea.

Book Description

"Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi is part biology textbook, part sociological treatise and all celebration of a very natural process. Both my daughters begged me to read the book over and over again. They marveled at the enormity of the elephant's poop and searched with the skill of a scientist for the tiny specks which represent bug poop. The text is simple and straightforward but not without humor.

5 out of 5 stars Cute and informative!.......2007-10-01

Great choice for the "potty years"!!! A tactful and fun way to approach a "stinky" subject!

5 out of 5 stars Great bathroom book!.......2007-09-27

This book really doesn't hold the interest of a potty training toddler, but we got a kick out of it! The book sits in our guest bathroom next to my son's potty... we get lots of laughing guests from this one!

5 out of 5 stars Great introduction to learning about body functions.......2007-09-07

This is the perfect book for a two year old learning how to poop in the potty. Keep an open mind as there are poop photos on every page! I love the openness of the book and my son loves reading it..I really do believe that this book is going to be a great aid in getting him to go on the big boy potty.

5 out of 5 stars clear and to the point.......2007-08-31

I worked in a bookstore for several years and customers were always asking for this book. It looked simple and at the time I thought it was silly. Years later I am starting to potty train my 22 month old son and I decide to buy this book and see what all the fuss was about. I am amazed at my sons reaction to this book. He loves it! Before this book he had made 1 poopie in the potty and was a little scared when he looked in and saw what he had done. He actually ran out of the room. When I started reading him this book his eyes got wide and he kept saying poo poo. It is perfect for a child. There is no confusion as to what he is seeing. It is also tastefully done. I highly recommend this book!

5 out of 5 stars Not too old for 2 year olds.......2007-07-25

I really wish my two year old didn't love this book so much! I'm not crazy about all the poop talk, but we're potty training and she loves this so much I'm considering buying it. She threw a fit when I told her it went back to the library today (I could only renew it 3 times!)

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!.......2007-07-24

William Buhlman's books are the bomb diggity! I absolutely loved Secret of the Soul and Adventures Beyond the Body. Very well laid out books, easy to read and understand; and best of all, they contain personal experiences from people all over the world. By far the two best books I have read on the subject! Well done Bill!

5 out of 5 stars A Fascinating and Wide-Ranging Exploration of the Out of Body Experience.......2006-11-07

I've read a large number of books on Astral Projection and this one was completely different for its range of topics. The author sent out a survey and received first-hand accounts from 16,000 people who have had various degrees of out-of-body experiences from accidental to controlled, from enjoyable to unwelcome. Buhlman lets the stories speak for themselves, and categorizes the experiences by subject: meetings and messages beyond the body, childhood OBEs, combat- and trauma-induced experiences and transformational experiences. Buhlman also discusses what can be expected from an OBE and what benefits there are.

Chapter 6 was unique in the entire literature of OBEs: could alien abductions be unexpected out-of-body experiences? Buhlman does a masterful job of analyzing the reported experiences of alien abductees and drawing parallels to the sensations of OBEs.

His "Brief History" of OBEs is an eye-opening re-examination of descriptions of the mystical experience, synthesizing historical and biblical accounts from the Egyptians through the Greeks and Tibetans, to the Christian and Sufi mystics, including Swedenborg, Yogis, Aborigines, Native Americans and Shamans. It's all too brief, serving to point the way for the reader to research further, but does argue for the ubiquitous OBE in our religions and spiritual paths.

Chapter 8, "A New Vision of Death and Dying," is another unique feature of this book in the Astral Travel library. OBEs are not dealt with as simply enjoyable anomalies in consciousness, but as life-changing spiritual experiences demanding a transformation of our definition of reality.

The "Art and Practice" section of the book deals specifically with the sensations the practitioner will feel when attempting to leave the body. The trance state is discussed, and the all-important vibrational phenomena are revisited throughout the book until they are pretty much memorized. Very few other books on Astral Projection are so detailed in their descriptions of what you can expect to feel when trying to leave the body. They may tell you what to imagine or visualize, but then you do the practices and then feel/see/hear things and wonder if you're on the right track. For example, the paralysis and vibrations that frighten many people are the very signals of an imminent OBE!

Many different visualizations are offered, and readers can choose the ones that appeal to them, or the ones that they find easiest to work with: climbing, floating, rocking, rotating, rotating, and so on.

Other techniques that may aid the reader in leaving the body are discussed briefly, from drumming and medicinal plants to meditation and brain-wave technology. A chapter on trouble-shooting is very helpful for those experiencing fear or distractions.

Like anything, Astral Projection can be learned through practice. No book can guarantee an OBE; that depends on your motivation and power of concentration, not to mention your ability to persevere through failure and learn from your mistakes. But "Secret of the Soul" is a wide-ranging and fascinating read even for earth-bound souls.

4 out of 5 stars Both book and CD was fantastic !!!.......2006-09-10

This book is one of the best OBE books. You looking for OBE techniques ? You can found more than 20 in this book !!! You looking for protection techniques while OBE ? O yes, you can found them here. How about to guide some one whose dying ? You can found it here too. About similarity OBE with Alien's abduction ? Yup, it's here too....
I also will review CD version of this book. It's contains 4 CD : 1. The Christos Technique (you can find it from other OBE books). 2. The Energy Body Technique (similar with Denning-Philips and Crowleys.. transfer your consciousness to astral body). 3. The Rope Technique (read Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce !). 4. The Shaman / Bird Technique (you can find it in Adventures Beyond the Body..the best, number one.. OBE book!). If you like practice with guiding.. this is for you. The sound (background) strong enough to direct your mind to non physical realms.

5 out of 5 stars Just OK.......2006-02-27

I enjoyed Buhlman's first book more than this one. At times, the information really drags.

5 out of 5 stars The best book on astral projection!.......2005-10-25

I have read several books about astral projection and found "The Secret of the Soul" to be the most practical and useful. I liked the personal stories combined with the wide selection of easy to understand how-to methods. Most other books teach only one approach for initiating out-of-body experiences and are really limited in their scope. I think this book is a must read for anyone interested in the topic.

I would like to say that in addition to reading "The Secret of the Soul", you should read "Adventures Beyond the Body" - William Buhlman's first book. There is such a wealth of knowledge and experience in these two books.

5 out of 5 stars What IF.......2006-08-30

It seems to me that the people who have given this book a less than desireable review are the ones who are steeped heavily into the brainwashed religious diatribes of what religions have been pushing down their throats as the truth. What they forget is that the bible was written and re written and edited so many times over and over, that one can only believe that the end result is nothing more than what those religions want you to believe....which of course is for their own agenda.

After being a student of many books along these lines, it only comes to say that these people are "young souls" and are NOT ready for the next step. So you can only go by what they say, with that in mind. Eventually in some life time they will awaken.

This book is one of the best ones I have read, other than Sheppard Hoodwin's "The Journey of Your Soul." These two books together answer and explain any question that you may ever have. I belong to no organized religion, nor ever will be as I find that the "rules" that have been made up in them are just not believable at all.

Open your mind and really look inside these books. You will find a wealth of information beyond anything that you could ever hope for. A world so totally amazing it will boggle your mind.

5 out of 5 stars Guidebook.......2006-02-24

It goes one more further step in the book of the Conversation with God (Book1). Very analytical and offers tips and guidance along CWG book1.

1 out of 5 stars Hilarious.......2006-02-24

It's amazing what some people believe. This is basically
blasphemy. The author's definitely inspired from something,
but it's not God. And all of you so-called "ministers" that
are buying into this trash is mind-boggling.

When the Bible says in 2 Tim.3:16 that God's Word is inspired by God, God was saying through Paul that it is God-breathed, that these words are actually God's Words to us of the salvation story. NO ONE since the conclusion of the writing of the books of the New Testament are inspired by God in the same way. No one
can write or speak today without fallacy or error. Those writers of the Bible wrote what God said to write without error or contradiction. Those words are life-changing words as no other writings are. They are living words from God's mouth.

1 out of 5 stars Christians beware............2006-02-22

If you are a Christian and believe in the Bible, then you need to stay away from this book. As the old adage goes, "You can't judge a book by its cover".

The author purports to answer various questions from kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "Why am I a lesbian?" His answer is that she was born that way because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with blue eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.

Another girls poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?"
His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong."

Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged.'"

And the list goes on. Not only are these books the false doctrine, but in some instances, it even quotes the Word of God in error.

5 out of 5 stars A Hindu girl found this book to be brilliant!!.......2006-01-26

What can I say about this book, WOW!! it really is a must read for all, I have read books 1 and 2 and am now on book3 I am Hindu by birth and naturally have not followed a Christian path but I do believe that all beliefs are very similar and there is one creator-one god for everyone. That is how I was bought up. I was never bought up to believe in Satan God created everything and as he says in his book 1 why would he create Satan? There is no hell, there is no judgment. This book is not for people who have only one vision and can only relate to what they have been taught. This book is for people who have expanded views on life and are looking to find there way to there soul/God and there is nothing in this book that would change a person for the worst it can only change a person for the better or not at all, so I guess you have nothing to loose. There is much to absorb from book 1 and books 2&3 and they may need to be read many times. I find pleasure in reading them over and over. They truly fascinate me.
No one recommended this book to me I just stumbled upon the book at my temple, whilst looking for a different book. The name of the book intrigued me and the back of the book drew me in! From the time I bought the book I do not want to put it down. I am grateful that I found it; it has been enlightening for me! This is a book of substance and everyone can draw their own conclusions but for me I believe they are the words from God! And I am the biggest skeptic!

Book Description

The body can heal itself. Spontaneous healing is not a miracle but a fact of biology--the result of the natural healing system that each one of us is born with. Drawing on fascinating case histories as well as medical techniques from around the world, Dr. Andrew Weil shows how spontaneous healing has worked to resolve life-threatening diseases, severe trauma, and chronic pain. Weil then outlines an eight-week program in which you'll discover:

- The truth about spontaneous healing and how it interacts with the mind
- The foods, vitamins, supplements, and tonic herbs that will help you enhance your innate healing powers
- Advice on how to avoid environmental toxins and reduce stress
- The strengths and weaknesses of conventional and alternative treatments
- Natural methods to ameliorate common kinds of illnesses
And much more!

4 out of 5 stars A reasoned resource on a subject fraught with difficulty.......2007-03-31

FULL DISCLOSURE - I have lymphoma and have been a patient of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for over three years, including a five month chemotherapy regimen.

Besides being the author of this book, which is sub-titled "How to Enhance Your Body's Natural Ability to Maintain and Heal Itself", who is Andrew Weil?

Well, he's a Harvard graduate (Botany) and Harvard medical school graduate, did an internship and then basically dropped out of the standard or orthodox medical field. Spent the next twenty years or so traipsing around the world talking with various shamans, Chinese herbalists, gurus, etc.

And he's gotten to be a very influential guy.

He has been a big proponent of natural therapies for the healing of maladies. While not opposed to allopathic or conventional medicine, Weil heavily criticizes the establishment for emphasizing "disease and it's treatment, rather than health and it's maintenance" (P. 65). He emphasizes natural healing and a variety of alternative therapies. In Weil's view, the body heals itself, it is a "healing system." And the healing system is a functional system, "not an assemblage of structures that can be neatly diagrammed" (P. 65).

Of course this is a point that has been noted by many people, and is obvious to anyone who thinks about it. If you get a cut, the cut heals itself. My son's currently broken ankle will mend itself; he has a cast on simply to protect the ankle from further damage. The cast doesn't heal the break. And the overwhelming opinion is that most cancers heal themselves; our immune system is constantly destroying abnormal cells before they get to any size or we know they are there.

Weil makes a point (P. 110) that "Treatment originates outside you. Healing comes from within."

The book is 280 pages long and divided into three parts. The first section is entitled "The Healing System" and is filled with stories and cases of people who were healed by alternative therapies. Herbs, acupuncture, aromatherapy, certain forms of classic osteopathic medicine, visualization, mind-body interactions, stuff like that.

The second and third sections are entitled "Optimizing the Healing System" - what to do to maintain good health - and "If you get sick". Weil lays out a variety of programs of preventive care. Much of it pretty basic like don't smoke and go for relaxing walks. And then stuff like using tonics and vitamins. The last section is a bit encyclopedic with short sections on various alternative approaches - Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Ayurvedic medicine, imagery and visualization therapy, chiropractic, on and on.

What about cancer? Weil points to the three standard therapies, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, with strong reservations on the latter two. Too much of a bludgeon approach, with chemotherapy especially having possible deleterious effects on other body systems. He suggests that the ultimate "cure" for cancer will come when we figure out how to "turn on" the immune system to attack and destroy the cancer cells, which somehow escaped or inoculated themselves from the body's immune system. As mentioned above, the standard opinion now is that most cancers develop due to an immune system failure. I think his opinion on the ultimate cancer cure is pretty much the standard opinion in the conventional medical establishment.

Of course the whole problem with Weil's approaches - diet, herbs, aromatherapy, "healing touch", is that there is scarcely any real scientific evidence for the efficacy of any of these approaches. It's all anecdotal. Where are the double blind studies, the comparisons between groups - all the studies that can lend credence to the anecdotes?

Weil admits there aren't many studies, and urges the studies be done. And as one of my physicians said to me, "There are no scientific studies. On the other hand, 2,000 years of Traditional Chinese Medicine has to have something to it."

As you can imagine, Weil has some really strident critics in the medical fraternity. No sense going there in this review.

What do I think? Well, Weil is not just another New Age Wacko. Not that I'll be trading my Sloan Kettering doctors for aromatherapy any time soon. BUT I have started taking an immune system support capsule that Weil recommends (I figure it can't hurt - got it at Shoprite) as well as taking glucosamine chondroitin three times a day for my joints, rather then just the occasional pill.

5 out of 5 stars A must read.......2006-10-24

In Spontaneous Healing, Dr. Andrew Weil describes his revolutionary ideas for a new type of medicine, one that is desperately needed in our times. A medicine that works in conjuction with your body's natural healing ability, without the overliance on toxic drugs (which he maintains have their definite place, but are over-prescribed). A medicine that uses the healing power nature and one's lifestyle, including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and integrates the best of both western type allopathic and natural healing. Medical science needs to look past the Cartesian model of the human as a series of disjointed structures, (mind, body, etc), and begin to see it as the unifed whole that wants to (and can) heal, and live, and prosper. But to do so, it needs the right conditions, which include diet, lifestyle, outlook, environment, community, etc. Spontaneous Healing lays the groundwork for living that type of lifestyle.

5 out of 5 stars Healing yourself.......2006-09-04

Last year after`experiencing extreme pain in back, shoulder, and arm muscles, I puchased Spontaneous Healing, Healthy Aging, and Natural Health Natural Medicine. I wanted to discontinue the use of the drugs I was using to control the pain. I intended to heal instead. Spontaneous Healing gave me information about foods, vitamins, and supplements that enhanced the body naturally. Dr. Weil gives advice on avoiding toxins and reducing stress. I highly recommend this book and his others for natural methods that people can use to change their life-syles, manage illness, and alleviate stress to increase healing potential.

4 out of 5 stars Inspiring stories, but lots of redundancy with his other work.......2006-05-31

Everyone knows who Andrew Weil is and he has certainly made a splash in the area of integrative medicine. As a Harvard trained physician, he has added enormous credibility to alternative treatments. This is a major contribution to the field of healing.

In this book, Dr. Weil presents a number of amazing and inspiring case studies of Spontaneous Healing. I read this book because my mother underwent a similar experience herself. As Dr. Weil suggests, many of the people who have had these experiences just don't go to doctors once they are healed, so they are assumed dead! This certainly fit my mom's profile because she hated going to doctors or hospitals, sometimes checking herself out in the middle of the night.

There is a lot of good information in this book on diet, optimizing your healing system, getting proper rest and having a meaningful spiritual life. However, much of this specific information is a repeat of what is presented in Eight Weeks to Optimum Health.

5 out of 5 stars Farts demystified.......2007-09-29

Apart from being a fun tutorial for a toddler, this is a great bathroom
read! It demystifies and destigmatizes the very natural fact that: We
pass gas! It offers an engaging explanation of why and how, and how
much gas we pass, and why it smells the way it does. This book will
leave you, your toddler, and your bathroom guests smiling and
smarter about something we just don't talk about much.

5 out of 5 stars Funny.......2007-02-08

This is a great book for kids and adults too. It is funny and really makes it easy to talk about body functions. I gave this to my sister at her baby shower. It was a hit!

5 out of 5 stars The story of my gas.......2006-11-09

This cleverly written book caused me to think for days about such things as farts and burps....I asked my son on the subject and he just attacked me and ran away...anywho i thought that the author picked a good topic to write about and it really helped me learn what the noise was that comes out of my behind actually is

1 out of 5 stars Worst Book Ever Printed.......2006-11-09

I just got this book for my 4 year old daughter yesterday. The illustrations look as though a child has done them (the cover does not accurately represent the rest of the drawings inside). The story itself does not feel informative or coherant. The one part of the book that disturbed me so bad was an adult man and a little boy in what looks like a tub and the illustrator actually put a small penis on the little boy-it is talking about how farts make bubbles in this scene. The idea of this book had the potential of being funny and informative, as it is written now with it's crude drawings and less than fantastic story line, I do not recommend this book to anyone and it is the only book (children/adult or otherwise) that I have read that should be completely destroyed so no one else has to be subjected to its idiocies.

4 out of 5 stars I Really Like The Theory Represented In This Book, BUT.................2006-03-28

No pun intended, BUT I have a problem with the word fart.
As I teacher, we were told that was a word not to be used. I said Bort............. The book explains this subject well and when I found it at the bookstore today, everyone around me had a laugh. However, we all agreed that we'd have trouble reading it to our children and as I teacher, I would. I bought it for a gag gift for my older son.
I thought it was cleverly written about a bodily function that happens to the best of us. As a matter of fact, it happened to me in the store today!!!! LOL

In this perennial bestseller, Seth challenges our assumptions about the nature of reality. He explains how the conscious mind directs unconscious activity and has at its command all the powers of the inner self. Included are excellent exercises for applying these theories to any life situation.

5 out of 5 stars The best of it's kind..........2007-06-08

I am reading this book again for the 3rd time. When you lst read it the concepts seem simple but they are complicated and require much thought. Seth whoever/whatever he is, I think was clever to make it seem simple as to not stop anyone from reading it but below these concepts are very important things about being human. I just wish that Jane had thought to perpare a wookbook to go with it. Or that someone steeped in the Seth knowledge would create one. It would be very useful to use alongside while reading this book.It is too bad that there is an "entity" thing involved because so many people will never accept this on those terms. Teens could also use the teachings/explanations of reality during those turbulent times of growing up. I am surprised that many people have never heard of Jane Roberts. Such a shame--but again, it's the "entity" factor that keeps people from this extremely important explanation of how we as humans believe our way to success for failure (or both at times) in life. If you are ever in the "dark night of the soul" of your life--get this book. It will uplift you and open a door to let in the light. There are more people that read the Seth books than are willing to admit and that is ashame that this information isn't there. I even heard Oprah on the radio admit that she read Seth! But I don't see her admitting to it on her show. Now that really would get a lot of attention. I wish she would have done a Seth show rather than the stupid Secret!

5 out of 5 stars the real deal.......2007-05-30

For me, it's been a long and meandering path back to Seth's teachings. I first read "Seth Speaks" and "The Nature of Personal Reality" in the mid-70's. I had some trouble understanding them and really, wasn't yet able to "get" what he was saying. But I guess it planted the seed. I am now re-reading "Seth Speaks" with great delight and much greater understanding.

Go ahead and read metaphysical books by other authors, especially if this stuff is new to you. Then, when you have the basics, read Seth. His books are rich and dense with complex information that is not that difficult if you take your time with it. They are definitely worth the effort. And if you apply what you learn, your life will be much happier and richer.

5 out of 5 stars Create a Better World with a Better Philosophy.......2007-03-19

The ideas about life and the universe presented in this book are profound. The Seth Books may be the biggest philosophical treasure of the 20th Century.
What if children were raised on these ideas? We would have a world of responsible individuals, unafraid, open to discourse, without religious bigotry. The way these ideas mesh with "The Elegant Universe" (Brian Green) (quantum physics) is uncanny. Maybe this is all very true! But even readers with technical problems about the possibilities of energy personalities contacting us from other dimensions, should give the philosophy a chance. Just read the "what" even if you're skeptical about the "who".

5 out of 5 stars This book needs to be on CD.......2007-02-17

I'm in my car for several hours each day, and I would love to know if I can find these books on CD (particularly The Nature of Personal Reality and Seth Speaks). These books changed my life, and it would be nice to be able to revisit the information again and again.

Sincerely,
Jeremy F.

5 out of 5 stars The Original Self-Help Book.......2006-12-29

Forget all the self-help gurus you see on Oprah and on the bookshelves and video stores. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL. Every last one of them has plagiarized this book! They've left out the socially "oddball" paranormal parts and stolen the basic premise:our beliefs create our reality. If you know anything about physics and/or Einstein, you will know that this is a scientific fact. Contrary to what we are taught by church and country (no offense intended),we are NOT meant to suffer. Life is to be lived according to the laws of the universe: cause no harm to the planet or its inhabitants, other than that what you must have for food, clothing and shelter. Life is good and you should be enjoying it. I strongly advise you to buy this book. Take the "seth" speaks, channeling stuff with a grain of salt, but change your thoughts to believe that you are who you want to be. It will happen. It worked for me. Since reading the book, I've been off of welfare and paying taxes, and basically living a happy life for nearly 20 years. Every time something negative happens to me, I know exactly what I did to cause it, and so I re-read this book and get my thoughts together and everything gets right with my world. Hey, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Book Description

The most comprehensive guide to the botany, history, distribution, and cultivation of all known psychoactive plants

• Examines 414 psychoactive plants and related substances

• Explores how using psychoactive plants in a culturally sanctioned context can produce important insights into the nature of reality

• Contains 797 color photographs and 645 black-and-white illustrations

In the traditions of every culture, plants have been highly valued for their nourishing, healing, and transformative properties. The most powerful plants--those known to transport the human mind into other dimensions of consciousness--have traditionally been regarded as sacred. In The Encyclopedia of Psychoactive Plants Christian Rätsch details the botany, history, distribution, cultivation, and preparation and dosage of more than 400 psychoactive plants. He discusses their ritual and medicinal usage, cultural artifacts made from these plants, and works of art that either represent or have been inspired by them. The author begins with 168 of the most well-known psychoactives--such as cannabis, datura, and papaver--then presents 133 lesser known substances as well as additional plants known as “legal highs,” plants known only from mythological contexts and literature, and plant products that include substances such as ayahuasca, incense, and soma. The text is lavishly illustrated with 797 color photographs--many of which are from the author’s extensive fieldwork around the world--showing the people, ceremonies, and art related to the ritual use of the world’s sacred psychoactives.

5 out of 5 stars A Truly Comprehensive Guide to the Topic.......2007-08-01

This encyclopedia contains much of what one would be looking for in researching the topic of psychoactive plants and their cultural relevance. The reader is provided with a wealth of biochemical, botanical, and ethnological information. The presentation, featuring large, beautiful color photos, and well-constructed diagrams, makes this book an especially attractive resource to own.

Fantastic, this magnificent encyclopedia is the biggest and most detailed to date. An unbelivably necessary edition to the library of anyone interested in psychoactive plants

5 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever Made on Psychoactive Plants.......2007-01-22

This review will be short and to the point. There is no greater single book on psychoactive plants than this book. Ratsch has done an amazing job. His book is mind-bogglingly thorough and exhaustive. It beats "Pharmacotheon" (Ott), "Plants of the Gods" (Ratch, Hofmann and Schultes) or any other book I have ever seen that attempts to be a complete source of information of psychoactive plants. I have been waiting for a book like this for years. I don't think this book could possibly be out-done for decades. At best, we can only hope to see books that would be something like supplimentary information in comparison to this book.

If you want all of the information on psychoactive plants that you can possibly get in one book, this is the one and it is definately worth the admittedly huge price tag. I would not be surprised if this book will be sold for many hundreds of dollars if and when it is sold out. Let's hope it is reprinted for a long, long time.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for curious little ones.......2007-09-17

I gave this book to my nephew for his 5th birthday. My nephew is obsessed with learning and his topic of choice at that time was the human body. He literally stared at this book for an entire week. After a month or so, he could name every single bone in the body, point to all the major organs, and tell you how your digestive system works. This book is full of learning and is so interesting for kids because of the 3D body parts. Yes, you may lose a part or two, or need to glue the skull back in, but all in all, it's fascination and wonder for curious little kids!

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!.......2007-07-30

I bought this for my 5 year old for her birthday. She wanted a stand up skelleton with organs that she could take out and look at. As she is only 5 and she has a 2 year old brother I opted for this book instead. She loves it! Not only can she look at the organs but she can also see the nerves, blood vessels and the brain. The book also contains projects you can do with your child that are pretty neat. Believe it or not this has become a bed time book.
Very cool. And no small pieces to lose.

4 out of 5 stars Fun, eye-catching, AND educational.......2007-03-29

I did alot of research to find just the right book for my 7 year old, and am very happy with this book. We both love the way the parts of the body are 3-D in the middle of the book. He can identify most of the parts after just a few sit downs with me. Some of the text is too old for him, but it's easy to simplify the material to age appropriate levels. We will be able to use this book for many more years adding on information as he gets older!

5 out of 5 stars What a "cool" book!.......2007-02-23

My 8 year old daughter has always been fascinated by the human body. I bought this for her as gift and she can't get enough of it. She takes it everywhere we go and is constantly reading it. We went to the doctor's office recently and of course she had her book with her. The doctor was very impressed and kept commenting on what a "cool" book it was. I have to agree, and so does my daughter.

5 out of 5 stars So Cool!.......2007-01-21

We got this for our 4 year old because he was at the stage where he was asking so many questions about how the body works. It is fantastic! I love the little skeleton inside. Every page reveals a different layer that is explained on that page. He loves the book and will actually sit and look at it without my help now. Definitely would recommend this book!

5 out of 5 stars Stunning.......2006-07-07

All the "Seth" books are nothing short of stunning. They are also gripping, mind boggling, unforgettable, and life-changing.

But to read this you had better be prepared to throw away a whole bunch of worn-out beliefs, and pick up a whole bunch of crisp new ones.

4 out of 5 stars why do things happen?.......2005-07-27

Why do we have world events, disasters, weather, etc the way they occur? This book address these questions. Reading this book, one can see how we create our realities as societies, cultures, countries, etc. We can gain additional, if not totally new, insight on this matter. What you will find out may surprise you, it may even make you angry or just make you not believe what the book says. To gain further insight, read The Personal Nature of Reality also which will show you how we create our own immediate reality. To me it was difficult to read but others that I know had no problem. Possibly it was hard to read was because it was packed full of information? I give it 4 stars because the way it was written. I think it could have been written so that it is less verbose and easier to understand. This book was written in the 70's when this kind of information was new and hard to find.

5 out of 5 stars New to Seth? This book may perplex........2001-10-14

Don't get me wrong. All the Seth books by Jane Roberts are worthwhile. And given recent global events, this book is more timely than ever. So I highly recommend that at some point you purchase this book so that you can read and reread it many times over. You should definitely aim to have all the Seth books as part of your personal library. I surely do. And I can pick a Seth book at random, turn to any page, and come away with a fresh insight. But if you are not sure who or what Seth is? Then this book may only confuse and perplex you. If you are new to Seth, I highly recommend that you start with "The Coming of Seth," followed by "The Seth Material," and then the must-have-Seth-book-of-all-time, "The Nature of Personal Reality." Then you will most surely want to read "The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events." My only complaint about this book? The "current" events referred to in this book may seem like ancient history to some. Oh, how I wish Ms. Roberts were alive today for Seth to comment upon such things as the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the more recent terrorist attacks. But indirectly, this book will help you come to terms with all these events and more. So in this respect, it is more important now than ever before. And one of the reasons that I include it on my list of "Timely Tomes for Troubled Times."

5 out of 5 stars Enlightening, insightful and provocative........2001-03-20

"You create your own reality".

This is the central message of the Seth material. Far from being the helpless victims of circumstances that have been thrust upon us, we are the masters of our own destiny, even though most of us are unaware of it. But if we all create our individual realities, how come that there are events that influence a great number of people simultaneously, like elections, natural disasters or epidemics? How could one possibly believe, for example, that the 6 million jews who died in the holocaust all individually chose that fate for themselves?

It is at the intersection of individual and mass reality where Seth's message indeed appears to fail the reality check. Not so, according to Seth, but it takes a whole book to explain why. 'The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events' carefully elaborates how the individual and the collective consciousness work together in a grandiose balancing act to create a shared reality that serves all the invididual development needs, simultaneously. Seth illustrates his points by discussing some of the great mass events of the time, such as Watergate or Three Mile Island. Of particularly significance in this context is Seth's statement that public health announcements and prevention programs, by their suggestive nature, create more instances of the diseases than they prevent!

'The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events' represents a cornerstone of the Seth material, as it reconciles Seth's principal message with our common sense perception of reality. It helps the reader to make sense of seemingly senseless events, and it shows how each of us, individually, can make a difference.

5 out of 5 stars The Individual Component of Mass Events.......1999-05-18

It's important to realize that this book is as much about the individual and the power of the individual to control (or partake in chosen) events in immediate surroundings as it is an offering of insight into the nature of "mass events." As usual, Seth points to the power of the individual in the context of the individual's deep connection to "all that is." The revelation that we are not powerless in a world gone berserk (from a subjective perspective) is comforting and downright empowering. This is evolved thought at its best. All that is left to the reader is to experiment with vigor the value system presented. In my mind, this book taken as a whole, was one of the best presentations of the Seth ideas. Read it, practice it's teachings and change your life for the better.
