I am a follower of Carolyn Myss. Individuals must be ready for "tough love" when you listen to this one. There is no room for personal excuses here. Be ready to grow.

Just the most amazing piece of insight on the road of soul searching, healing , listening, there is so much to explore with this material that I usually spend three hours listening and trying to apply these wonderful suggestions to know my own soul! Seamus

4 out of 5 stars Entering the Castle 9-CD set with Caroline Myss.......2007-07-20

I am a huge fan of Caroline Myss and typically prefer to listen to her talk rather than read her books. However, for this particular title, I wish I had purchased the book as well as the CD and may still get the book. A significant amount of the topic involves time in meditation with your interior castle and while Dr. Myss talks you through each meditation, they are typically to short to allow an experience of completion.
But I must add that the spoken material about getting to know yourself on this deep level is both illuminating and thought provoking, in this way Caroline Myss met my expectations.

5 out of 5 stars CAROLINE MYSS SPEAKS FROM HER HEART AND SOUL..AN ENLIGHTENING AUDIO BOOK!.......2007-07-05

I have read and listened to MANY of Caroline Myss books and cd's and I find this is her best work yet! Before I bought this set from Amazon, I read all of the previous reviews and read that some reviewers felt that Caroline was rude or harsh. (I did not agree with some of the below poor reviews. Why? After listening to Caroline Myss on HayHouse Radio and on many of her previous CD's, I found Ms. Myss a very inpsiring and enlightening teacher. This CD set and also the book are for people that who are seeking serious spiritual enlightment and want to go on a very deep spiritual journey of the soul. After listening to many of her works, including Entering the Castle, I believe that she is very serious and dedicated to her work. Because she is so very passionate about her work, she has such deep feeling and expresses this passion in all of her lectures/CD's, including this one. For me, I love it that she is so very emphatic and direct in her delivery of her message on the CD's. That for me, is necessary for my SOUL and HIGHER SELF to listen and so that my spiritual journey is a wonderful change for the better. This teaching on these CD's are not just to listen to once and forget, they are meant to be listened to many times so you can better your soul. The Castle CD's are her best so far, and I will listen to them again for my soul's growth. Thanks Caroline!

5 out of 5 stars Beyond "Learning Styles".......2007-08-19

One of my favorite and most often returned to books. Goes beyond one's so-called "learning style" to include the strengths of the sensory modalities beyond the one preferred for conscious understanding. Fascinating. Very useful, and part of a growing trend which recognizes individual differences as strengths, not as problems to be fixed. Instead of forcing people apart, this kind of understanding can bring people closer together. Highly recommended.

Also by Dawna Markova and Anne Powell, "How Your Child Is Smart" is helpful for parents, or anyone who wants to give their children the gift of a self-validating start in life. This could make a world of difference in a child's experience of school, not to mention life in general. A must for any teacher.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant theory, comprehensively written.......2003-07-18

Dr. Markova's learning process ideas have vastly altered the way I view, work with, and relate to others. While acknowledging that people's minds work differently (and beautifully in their respective ways), she has made it clear that no two people are fated to lock horns! This book provides practical tips on building and maintaining a relationship with someone whose learning pattern is different from one's own.

I appreciate her brevity, also. It's a simple theory, though an exceptional one. But Markova doesn't embellish her ideas, slapping wordy technical terms on everything. These concepts speak for themselves. She gives further insight where it's needed, but mostly the reader is allowed to make his/her own interpretations. This is not heavy reading, (easily digestible for a college freshman such as myself!) but enlightening nonetheless.

5 out of 5 stars One of the most profound influences in my life.......1998-07-07

From professional colleagues to the family members who drive me crazy to my spouse, this book has truly changed the way I relate to people. Through gaining an understanding of how people communicate--how we all have our own unique mind--I now understand how I can most effectively listen to others, speak my heart and connect with people on their terms. Most importantly, I understand my own particular quirks and needs (and realize they're not "quirks" but simply how my mind processes, etc.) and I cherish those qualities in myself--and work with them--instead of trying to change them to fit another way of thinking. This book has been instrumental in helping me take charge of the interactions I have in my life, and it has been one of the most profound influences of my adult relationship life.

4 out of 5 stars Stimulating theory of personality type, popularly written........1997-04-19

Based on her work as a hypnotherapist, Markova has extended the idea of three channels of communication -- auditory, visual, and kinesthetic -- by matching them to the conscious, subconscious, and unconscious mind, producing six personality types: A in the conscious, V in the sub, and K in the un, with permutations of those. Well-written, with many examples and anecdotes. Stimulating theory. This book is a rewrite of "The Art of the Possible.&quot

Book Description

Have you ever wondered about life and Creation? Is there life after death? Why do we have to go through these trials and tribulations? Why do we have thoughts and dreams that run from the sublime to those that are nightmarish and bizarre? Why do goodness and evil go hand in hand in life … or do they?
The answers to these questions and more are brought to light by author and spiritual teacher Sylvia Browne. She once again shares her psychic gifts and years of research in order to enlighten us and give us more insights into God and the realities of life.
This time she tackles the structure of Creation by showing us that there is purpose and order in our sometimes seemingly chaotic world and existence. She outlines the structural levels of Creation of not only life as we know it; but the reality of the afterlife and the heretofore-unexplored structure of the Lower Levels of Creation. From the beautiful and perfect life of the Other Side to the wondrous, weird, and strange Lower Levels, to the everyday intricacies of life on this planet, Sylvia takes us on another journey of exploration and truth.

In this book but only briefly, Sylvia writes that she has seen Mermaids and Fairies, and how they are entirely BEAUTIFUL creatures.

I just wanted to share this, even though it is just a few lines in the entire book. The rest is very interesting of course. I'm just completely happy Sylvia wrote about how she has seen these Heavnly beings.

5 out of 5 stars perfect as always.......2007-03-09

I have never read a Sylvia Browne book that I have not loved and felt great truth within the pages, and this book is just the same. It is a bit like her creation trio of books but this one has ALOT of new information in it. Really you cannot compare the two, (this book and her 3 book creation series) because they each have their own wisdom and truths in them. I loved this book and as Sylvia says, if what some of what she says does not feel right to you, then leave it. She is not attempting to make us all believe that everything she says and believes is the only way. I, however, usually agree with her truths. WONDERFUL BOOK BY A WONDERFUL BLESSING OF A WOMAN.!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book /Great Insight.......2007-03-09

I was particularly fascinated by the information regarding the "Lower Levels" of creation. Actually, it made me want to go there. Not for a long time or anything, just long enough to look around and get the hell out. The 7 stages of human life along with the 7 levels of life on the other side was really informative as well. I (for the first time in 37 years) realized what I was doing here on earth and what my purpose was from this one book. I guess that is really important huh? It is also a great inspirational book and reminded me of what it means to live here on the earth and that all is well and that I'll be returning home one day so not to worry. That's pretty good to get all that from the pages of a book. I love Sylvia Browne. :o)

Early on in Quantum Healing, Deepak Chopra asks an interesting question: Why, when your body mends a broken arm, is it not considered a miracle, but when your body rids itself of cancer, it is? Chopra believes the two phenomena spring from the same well, that the body is capable of doing much more than we assume it can. He calls this ability to cure disease from within "quantum healing," and shows how we're all capable of it. He believes intelligence exists everywhere in our bodies, in each of our 50 trillion cells, and that therefore each cell knows how to heal itself. It's a fascinating assertion, one that remains unprovable by science but overwhelmingly true by anecdote.

Book Description

Here is an extraordinary new approach to healing by an extraordinary physician-writer -- a book filled with the mystery, wonder, and hope of people who have experienced seemingly miraculous recoveries from cancer and other serious illnesses.

Dr. Deepak Chopra, a respected New England endocrinologist, began his search for answers when he saw patients in his own practice who completely recovered after being given only a few months to live. In the mid-1980's he returned to his native India to explore Aruyveda, humanities most ancient healing tradition. Now he has brought together the current research of Wetern medicine, neuoscience, and physics with the insights of Ayurvedic theory to show that the human body is controlled by a "network of intelligence" grounded in quantum reality. Not a superficial psychological state, this intelligence lies deep enough to change the basic pattenrs that design our physiology -- with the potential to defeat cancer, heart disease, and even aging itself. in this inspiring and pioneering work, Dr. Chopra offers us both a fascinating intellectual journey and a deeply moving chronicle of hope and healing.

4 out of 5 stars Great Read.......2007-08-17

Very interesting. Great for anyone interested in traditional or alternative medicines. Also great for anyone who may need help with their health or just wants to make the most of their current health. I found it quite useful.

5 out of 5 stars long time favorite.......2007-06-27

Deepak Chopra is a long time favorite of mine. I have read Quantum Healing several times and I ordered the CD just to hear Dr. Chopra's voice. He has such a beautiful attitude toward the human condition.

5 out of 5 stars SUPERB CD WITH SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION ON HEALING!.......2007-06-21

In my opinion, ALL of Deepak Chopra's CD's are wonderful. I own over 12 of the CD's and all of the cassettes that Dr. Chopra has ever written. Since 1995, I have listened to Dr. Chopra's audio books and have read 6 of his books as well. All of them I still own and refer to. This is an audio book that has something to offer all who have an open mind and who enjoy learning about science!

5 out of 5 stars another thumbs up for Dr. Chopra.......2007-03-12

Although this is one of Dr. Chopra's earlier books (1988), it is just in time! The mind-body-spirit concept has caught on with several writers lately, but Dr. Chopra was way ahead of the field. This is a book for anyone at any age, and particularly helpful for those with a serious illness (cancer, or other life-threatening diseases). It will lift you up and present some alternatives to modern medicine. Also, you will want to read the latest Chopra book, "Life after Death."

4 out of 5 stars An alternative way of looking at human health and medicine.......2007-02-07

Quantum Healing is both intellectually challenging -as the author,Deepak Chopra, draws on the theory of quanta in Physics to illuminate some blind spots in the biomedical model of treating illness- and emotionally soothing, as he draws on his clinical experience to bring up the body/mind interconnection and the human side of the patient/physician relationship.

WHOLE EARTH REVIEW
This book goes far beyond the confines of pop dream psychology, establishing a scientifically researched framework for using lucid dreaming--that is, consciously influencing the outcome of your dreams. Based on Dr. Stephen LaBerge's extensive laboratory work at Stanford University mapping mind/body relationships during the dream state, as well as the teachings of Tibetan dream yogis and the work of other scientists, including German psycholgist Paul Tholey, this practical workbook will show you how to use your dreams to: Solve problems; Gain greater confidence; improve creativity, and more.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Good reading.......2007-08-25

This book is definetly well written, and extremly interesting. Go's over several techniques to experience lucidity. Easy to follow along with. just spend the 5 bucks and get it.

4 out of 5 stars While insightful, I find this book puts me to sleep.......2007-02-01

I am a semi-lucid dreamer, i.e., I can access memory of previous dreams while dreaming, but I don't know that I'm dreaming, so I have no control over the content of my dreams. This is a good guide to becoming conscious of your dream life, but it is so boring that it puts me right to sleep. Don't expect to be able to start exploring the world of lucid dreaming without lots of dream work, e.g., keeping a dream diary, looking for triggers in your dreams to alert you to the fact that you are dreaming while dreaming. However, the first time you realize that you've "been here, done that" in your dreams, you will never dismiss those hours asleep as a waste of time: Every dream becomes way more entertaining that going to the movies.

5 out of 5 stars best on the subject.......2007-01-22

This one is simply the best book on lucid dreaming i've read so far. It's clear, it gives some solid psychological background, enough information to start and continu with lucid dreaming for a long time. It's got everything i read somewhere else and more in it. If you get one book on lucid dreaming, this will have to be it.

5 out of 5 stars Lucid Dreaming.......2007-01-18

This is a fabulous book for anyone who has ever suffered Sleep Paralysis, or visitations from (seemingly) other worldly demons during sleep - or for those who have enjoyed the wonders of gaining consciousness while in the dreamstate.

It explains all of these phenonema in very simple and logical terms.

It also explains how you can develop and enhance your ability to regain consciousness during dreaming - and thereby opens a whole new world of incredible experiences.

Fans of Carlos Castenada will love it.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely Helpful.......2007-01-10

By merely reading this book and being concious of the concepts, my frequency of having lucid dreams increased. My lucid dreams occurred frequently during adolescence and now they occur occasionally with little implementation of the techniques explained in this book. I think that anyone who reads this book with an interest in lucid dreaming will see results.

4 out of 5 stars I Thought It Was Okay.......2007-02-19

I think if I could do it again, I would just look up mindmapping on google to see what it says. I hadn't heard about mindmapping before this book, when I first tried I thought it was stupid (very similar to brainstorming in school), but once I started using it I really loved it. It really does help, and I realize that most of my teachers in law school use some form of mindmapping though they don't realize it. I would recommend this book if you want buy a book on the general idea about how to mindmap. It has a lot of filler, it does focus on business use, but in general it will help you if you've never done mindmapping before.

1 out of 5 stars Complete blather. Find a different book on this topic - any other book.......2006-09-22

Mindmapping is easily a five star topic. It is a powerful way to visually show the structure of thoughts and of human memory. I'm an IT guy like one of the previous reviewers below, and I can vouch for mindmapping working wonders. Tony Buzan, who (I believe) invented it and has written much better books on the topic is some kind of genius.

This book, unfortunately, contains few examples of how to construct mindmaps. And those examples and explanations are poor quality. The very few diagrams are of very low monochrome stick figure quality - whereas the whole idea behind mind-mapping is to create a multi-color visual extravaganza to nurture visual thinking and the production of ideas. The paper it is printed on feels like the cheapest newsprint they could buy. It is not in color like Buzan's five star 1996 "Mind Map Book: How to Use Radiant Thinking to Maximize Your Brain's Untapped Potential". It basically is an attempt to ride the coat-tails of a successful book on a hot topic by pulling in all those people who buy all the books they can find on a hot topic like mindmapping who want to get "as broad a perspective" on the topic as they can.

It rambles wildly page after page and in a totally unfocused series of scatter-brained essays about theories of creativity, how to write, how to conduct meetings, and etc that are potentially applications for mindmapping. The problem is that the execution of these chapters is horrible, and they don't really tie in mind-mapping into their unfocused thesis. After reading each of these chapters, the reader is left to their own devices to try to imagine how to apply mind-mapping to the applications listed. Two thirds of this book can be condensed down to one page listing the potenital applications and saying "I think you can figure out how to apply mindmapping to each of those".

One possible merit of the book is the short chapter on how to use mind-maps in place of "to-do" lists. This 7 page chapter is the only well executed element of the entire book. For some buyers out there, this chapter will be worth more than the cost of the book. ...but from the standpoint of most readers needs, it is not good enough to warrant adding an additional star to my review score.

The meat of the book is chapter 3, about 15 pages. It tells the "basic techniques" of mindmapping and leaves out vast elements found in Buzan's instruction. More than half of that chapter is filler.

I should point out that there are many detractors to the whole idea of mind-mapping. It works for some people, like myself, who are very visually oriented. ....The method of mind-mapping outlined in this book simply doesn't work at all.... Real mind-mapping that works is full of clear pictures drawn by the artist/author/creator that are designed to summon up complex memories in the person who created the mind-map - visual cues to complex ideas stored visually. There is no real discussion of how to use pictures in this book - the very few examples are inane doodles that add nothing.

Total waste of money. Total waste of time. Lousy introduction to the topic. Aside from the chapter on replacing to-do lists, this book has nothing whatsoever to add to the "field" of mindmapping, and will leave a bad taste for mindmapping in a beginner's mouth. I have no idea why the publisher picked it up or why it is still in print.

Most readers of this review have probably discovered Buzan already. The book you need and are probably looking for to expound on and give another person's perspective on the topic is the four-and-a-half-star "Mapping Inner Space" Second Edition by Nancy Margulies, which is brilliantly done and in color (although kind of expensive...).

4 out of 5 stars Solid concise book.......2004-10-14

If you're a busy person who is who is interested in learning how to use mindmapping for business - you'll appreciate this concise book. If you're an intermediate mind mapper, (I've been mind mapping for 2 years) there's nothing new. The book heavily emphasizes business concepts so I don't recommend this book if you're not interested in business related mind mapping.

The author focuses on general business related matters, meetings, brainstorming, to-do list, writing, problem solving that are relevant points for business people. She doesn't get into advanced mindmapping concepts like Tony Buzan's, "The Mind Map Book." But it's 150 pages shorter.

The author began her own career in accounting, as a result of mind mapping, she is now is consulting on creativity matters for business... pretty amazing if you ask me.

4 out of 5 stars Mindmapping and some other stuff.......2003-08-23

Mindmapping isn't a difficult concept to grasp - it's somewhat surprising the mileage that different authors have managed to extract from it.
That said, this book does offer some additional value - it covers the concepts of MindMapping with excellent clarity and, if your looking for business applications, it does that with surprising ease of reading.

Book Description

For nearly a decade, Hampton Roads has been at the forefront of publishing books on the out-of-body exploration of the astral world. Following in that tradition comes Astral Projection and the Nature of Reality, a work that goes farther than ever before in explaining the dimensions to which the out-of-body adventurer can go. Magnus provides a brief history of astral projection and then guides the reader through a step-by-step course for reliable projection. Once out-of-body, Magnus explains how we create our own astral world and offers techniques for taming both our mind and the nature of our reality.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing book,.......2007-10-04

This book is very good making circles, and the information you are able to find all over the Internet, you do not need a book like this one. If you want to learn astral projection, this book definately not IT.

It is waste of money and your time.

4 out of 5 stars good book.......2007-08-20

I think some were under the impression that this was going to be a "how-to-guide" to astral projection. The autor does give some pointers, but this book is primarily tales of his astral experiences. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed read........2007-08-02

If you have read Robert Bruce's book, then you should skip this one, it is almost identical. No insight of his own, fail to describe astral projection correctly, if you are a beginner, this book will surely confuse you.

5 out of 5 stars A very interesting perspective..........2007-05-14

Of all of the books about astral travel that I've read, this one has a totally unique perspective on the subject. I can't readily say that I agree with all of the details, but it really gives you a new way of looking at the entire OBE process...And sometimes that's just what you need!
Great book, well worth the purchase!

5 out of 5 stars Wow..........2007-01-05

I have to say that this is probably my favorite book of all time. Now, I'll tell you why. Not only does John Magnus walk you through how to astral project, but he explains in depth what astral projecting is and, even further, what life and the universe are from an astral perspective. He manages to do this all in a very clear, coherent, logical manner. And, he really strives to describe the true nature of the astral, not just a limited interpretation of it. Also, this book is a blast to read. Every section is powerfully insightful and his journal entries that are spread throughout the book are at times powerful and at other times hilarious. Some of his astral experiences are, to put it politely, interesting. Overall, I have found this book to be most helpful in finding what I am looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Thorough Account of Stages of Astral Mastery.......2006-04-29

I wish to differ strongly with Jonathan Livingston also. It is plainly obvious to me that Mr. Dennett's experiences are authentic, having done much development along these lines, over time, myself.

This is notably an intimate account of what one experiences during the stops and starts, lulls, and incredible accelerations, particular nuances and gradual transformations that occur when one takes on this type of development, as well as the methods for encouraging them.

His account is not sensationalistic. Even when describing his encounters with the wild inclinations of the "desire body", he makes note that he eventually transcends this stage, once he arrives at a point where much of this activity runs it's course and is replaced by more useful persuits that contribute to his spiritual growth.

Some of the most useful aspects of reading the book was to learn the author's means of not only differentiating between varying, and difficult to define, states of reality and consciousness one might encounter, but also how to use triggers and mechanisms to shift from one to the other, and to do so with skill and consciousness.

i would not say that the book is truly a beginner's book because it is written from the perspective of one who knows, instead of taking into account what the beginner's mind is really like when approaching this work. But not much would be required, through a bit of basic experience and research, to get to know what Mr. Dennett is describing.

....and use of an accelerant breathing pattern. One takes the yogic "Corpse Pose", then begins the inhalation (mouth closed) for 4 counts, holding for 4 counts (throat open inside), then exhalation for 8 counts....done without strain in a state of relaxation, slowly and naturally, 21 times...the yogic breath pattern should be employed: fill lower belly first, pull belly in (without exhale), fill chest with breath, and then the shoulder space, letting shoulders rise upward (away from the lower body, not toward the ceiling). this is held four counts, then exhaled in the opposite progression for eight counts of the same length. "Spinning" sensations may occur, followed possibly by a quick loss of conciousness, then hopefully finding oneself out of the body!

Gnostic meditation (Samael Aun Weor school) and/or Zen meditation practice.

So far, i have only read two-thirds of Dennett's book, but am very anxious to see where he goes from here. Having been a dancer for 45 years, i know that the subconcious can take on incredibly intricate skills concerned with style, and the coordination of motor skills and reflex, just by passive observation of other dancers in motion. Reading a book like this, seems to do the same, when it comes to re-enlivening neurons, neccessary subtle and profound connections, and the inspiration that are so necessary to proficiency in the astral art.

5 out of 5 stars A note from the author.......2005-09-15

Hi, I am the author of Out of Body Exploring. I want to respond to Jonathon Livingston's review. While everybody's entitled to their opinion, I would like to correct some errors. First, the book is 178 pgs, not 150. Second, while I do present some lucid dreams, the majority are genuine OBEs. I was able to get proof that I was out of body more than once. Finally, the methods I present are my own, and not taken from any other book. This book is the true story of how I learned to go out of body. It was hard at first, but after practice, I learned to maintain the out of body state. While out of body, I was able to visit deceased loved ones, learn about my past lives, explore the physical world and the astral planes, visit the Akashic Library and more. It was no dream when I visited my deceased mother and she took me on a tour of the heavenly realms. The best proof is to go out of body yourself. Nothing is more convincing (and a little scary) than looking at your body while you're standing outside of it! One time while out of body, I stood in front of the mirror and there was nothing there! Now that's a weird feeling. Anyway, my main reason for writing the book was not to get fame -- most people look at your like your crazy when you talk about this! I just think that going out of body is great fun and a spiritually transformational experience. I think it has the possibility to improve your lives both spiritually, physically and emotionally. There's an excerpt on my website if you'd like to learn more. I'll end this note with a wish and a blessing that you too will partake of the infinite joy, power and knowledge of the out of body experience!!!

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing..........2005-09-06

After having read so many positive reviews I was expecting much more from this book than it has delivered. What it basically contains is 150 pages of some half-assed mostly lucid dreams with the author's incoherent and off-topic remarks in between that hardly add to the clarity of his descriptions, but rather serve as a filler in an attempt to mimic other similar, but much more interesting and original books. The techniques themselves were laid out in the end on 7,5 (!) pages only. And even those are copied straight out of dozens other books on the subject.

All in all: this book is simply an account of half-assed lucid dreams that the author pretentiously tries to picture as full-fledged OBEs in an attempt to catch the fame. Definitely not worth your time and money.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent account of OBE's.......2005-01-19

I ws prepared to be disappointed since I have read almost 200 books on this topic. But this was really excellent and his down to earth explanations, experiences and conjectures were very readable and helpful. His experiences matched some of my own which is always good to read in another's account.Thoroughly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Drawing upon hundreds of out-of-body experiences .......2005-01-11

An out-of-body experience is a kind of astro projection where the subject seems to leave their physical body and forays into a real of expanded consciousness, viewing their environment with an awareness that is both familiar and strange for extended periods of time. Preston Dennett began his explorations beyond the physical body some twenty years earlier in an attempt to contact his deceased mother. Drawing upon hundreds of out-of-body experiences (OBE) lasting anywhere from a few seconds to several hours, Dennett now shares his experiences and provides an instructive "how to" manual for others to go out-of-body themselves, while maintaining control and an awareness for extended periods of time. Out-Of-Body Exploring: A Beginner's Approach is a unique and enthusiastically recommended addition to personal reading lists and Metaphysical Studies reference collections.

Book Description

At some point everyone asks the question: What happens when we die? Robert J. Grant, a popular writer, lecturer, and researcher in many areas of contemporary spirituality, offers a dramatic and encouraging look at the realms beyond physical death.

The Place We Call Home is filled with the personal stories of those who have experienced the other side, either through death, communications from those who have died, or near-death experiences. These stories illuminate the answers to questions about messages from dead loved ones, the light-filled realms of the afterlife, and the real meaning of the "shadowlands."

This is a hopeful and inspiring look at the dimension of life beyond the illusion of death and celebrates the eternal nature of the human soul.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic read, wonderfully written.......2006-11-05

Grant is published by ARE Press, as are other authorities on Cayce.
His writing style is clear and interesting, and his books are anecdotal and entertaining, as well as informative .

He is one of five people who spent five years reading every single Cayce reading in the library of the ARE, and putting it on CD. That means if Cayce said it, Grant read it.

This makes him one of the foremost authorities on Cayce, today.

One does not need to be a student of Cayce, or interested in his foundation to enjoy this book. It is for anyone seeking answers to life after death.
I encourage you to give it a try!

5 out of 5 stars A Must Read!.......2005-05-09

In the last few years I have read many spiritual books, and this is now one of my favorites.

The author draws on the readings of Edgar Cayce, as well as the views of several others, to discuss the realms that await us after death. A great asset of this book is that it shows how our thoughts and beliefs will actually impact the realm we find ourselves in upon death. For instance, although God does not damn anyone to a hellish afterlife, if someone believes that that is what they will find, they will. However, no one is stuck in a "negative" realm forever - there is always help available to those who are ready to give up their "earth-bound" thoughts.

The author also discusses the importance of prayer and meditation in preparing our souls for the afterlife, and he has included several exercises to help readers with the process.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in spirituality, the after-life, &/or Edgar Cayce's readings.

5 out of 5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FROM A VERY ADVANCED SOUL.......2004-04-20

The author, Rob Grant, is one of the foremost authorities on the Cayce readings, having studied, catalogued and put them on CD-ROM over a period of five years. Being personally acquainted with the author, I will tell you that he is one of the most advanced souls I've ever met -- genuinely loving, kind, compassionate, helpful, open-minded and throughly knowledgeable about the Cayce readings. His book, The Place We Call Home, reflects all of these. It is a book that gives much hope to the terminally ill, as well as to all seekers. He has written a concise book enlightening the reader with all Edgar Cayce said about passing over to the other side and what we will find there. I have also met George Ritchie, whose near death experience Rob Grants refers to in his book and who wrote a best seller back in the 1960 called "Return from Tomorrow," from which much about which we understand about death and dying came. These two men, more than anyone else, have convinced me of the reality of the afterlife and what one can expect to find there.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS WONDERFUL, HOPEFUL and LOVING BOOK!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has lost someone they love or simply has a curiosity about what happens when we die. It answers so many questions that we all have regarding the afterlife. It gives hope to those of us who are grieving, that we will see our loved ones again. It's the best book I've read yet on the subject and it's my #1 recommendation. Well organized and written so that most readers can comprehend it. A great work! I'd give this book 6 stars if I could!

John O'Donohue (Anam Cara), a Celtic poet, scholar, and philosopher with an Irish brogue, speaks to the deepest calling of our soul: the longing to belong. "To be human is to belong," he explains. "Belonging is a circle that embraces everything; if we reject it, we damage our nature. The word 'belonging' holds together the two fundamental aspects of life: Being and Longing, the longing of our Being and the being of our Longing." Although this may sound like an elaborate Celtic circle knot, O'Donohue has nevertheless woven a solid and easy-to-grasp book that speaks to the soul's constant yearning. Every passage is a delight for the senses, as O'Donohue shares his lilting poetic language, his Celtic imagery and stories, and his fireside-chat wisdom. This is a broad-reaching yet highly focused book that dares to explore the realm of legitimate angels, the meaning of suffering, and, most poignantly, how life on earth may never quench the soul's thirst for belonging. --Gail Hudson

Book Description

There is divine restlessness in the human heart, our eternal echo of longing that lives deep within us an never lets us settle for what we have or where we are. Now, in this exquisitely crafted, inspirational book, John O'Donohue explores that most basic of human desires--the desire to belong. It's a desire that constantly draws us toward new possibilities of self discovery, friendship, and creativity.

In Eternal Echoes John O'Donohue embarks upon a journey of discovery in the heart of our postmodern world--a hungry, lonesome world that suffers from a deep sense of isolation and fragmentation. With the thousand-year-old shelter of Divine Belonging now shattered, we seem to have lost our way in this magical, wondrous universe.

Here, as we explore perennial themes and gain insight from a range of ancient beliefs, we draw inspiration from Ireland's rich spiritual heritage of profound, mystical wisdom that will open pathways to peace and contentment, and lead us to live with creativity, honor, and compassion the one life that has been given us.

"In the pulse-beat is the life and longing, all embraced in the great circle of Belonging, reaching everywhere, leaving nothing and no one out. This embrace is mostly concealed from us who climb the relentless and vanishing escalator of time and journey outside where space is lonesome with distance. All we hear ware whispers, all we see are glimpses; but each of us has the divinity of imagination which warms or hearts with the beauty and depth of a world woven from glimpses and whispers, an eternal world that meets the gaze of our eyes and the echo of our voices to assure is that from all eternity we have belonged and to answer the question that echoes at the heart of all longing: while were are here, where is it that we are absent from?"
-- from Eternal Echoes

My goodness this book droned on and on about belonging and longing without any real wisdom coming through. I will never buy a book again because someone else said it was good I lost money on this one.

5 out of 5 stars Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections.......2007-01-11

Not being familiar with this author I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of Celtic Spirituality I encountered. I was captured from the first few paragraphs of the Prolog. Having such a complete list of the contents was extremly helpful.I will be exploring future books by this author in the future.

5 out of 5 stars Touches the soul.......2006-12-28

This book is from the soul, and we all need soul food every now and again. I picked it up in Ireland while chilling out from a broken marriage and it spoke to me like no other book has ever done. With prose like exquisite poetry, John O' Donohue touches the soul with a true taste of spirituality.

Very inspirational, it's wonderful to read a work of art that is so "biblical" in it's ability to motivate. It speaks metaphorically, pragmatically and is grounded in common sense. I'm looking forward to reading it again, and then sometime later, again.

5 out of 5 stars Scholar with a Poet's Eyes.......2006-12-22

This is a wonderful book to read along with The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, The Celtic Spirit by Caitlin Matthews. O'Donohue brings deep insight into such topics as belonging, alienation, kinship, fear... all the basics. His scholarship and sense of poetry help us create a new language out of the depths of our experiences, so that we see ourselves in new light. The author began his journey with the book Anam Cara, which contains a wonderful friendship blessing I say often. Eternal Echoes is even more on point, if not equally so. Slainte, Mr. O'Donohue.

5 out of 5 stars Silver prose as golden spirituality........2004-10-22

I can sympathize with the reviewer who found this book to be "vague, wordy, ambiguous, contradictory, and or no practical help." If you turn to John O'Donohue for a practicum on Celtic spirituality you will be similarly confounded.

All of O'Donohue's books are image-intensive lyrics for the songs of our souls. They are not meant to be discursive or systematic, nor are they in any way beholden to canons of Anglo-Saxon verb-driven prose. Perhaps the best way to appreciate this or any of his books is to sit in your garden with a cup of strong tea, a thick slice of toasted bread with butter or marmalade, and a copy of this book, and take small mouthfuls of each allowing time between to savor and digest.
