Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book!.......2007-10-02
Bravo Courtney for evolving into the man that you are. It took great strength and courage to defy the many evils of today. I hope many males read this book and imitate you and your union with Angela. Congratulations on a job well done.
Awesome love story .......2007-09-17
This book was well written think it was wonderful for Courtney/Angela to share their lives with readers. Points of interest: the lessons Angela/Courtney gives about being a God fearing wife and husband. This will help anyone who takes the time to read/apply it to your life. Please write another book soon.
WONDERFUL!.......2007-08-23
This book was such a joy to read. As a young single lady in my 40's, it was a joy to learn of the forces that lead Angela and Courtney to each other. If you believe there is someone waiting for you, then this is the book to read. I am so glad they made the decision to share their story with us. Thanks for sharing!
Just Wonderful.......2007-07-28
This Book was just Wonderful.
The first book in a long time that I couldn't put down!!
Read It In One Sitting.......2007-07-17
This book was fun to read. I was able to identify with both characters - especially having grown-up in Detroit. But the couple definitely got a little bit too "holier than thou" at the end with all the Bible thumping.
In all fairness, the couple warned the reader that they were only giving their opinion of what's important in marriage - and that the reader could take it or leave it. If you like J. California Cooper there's a good chance you'll like this book also.
I've seen many celebrity marriages put in the spot-light as the "perfect union". They mostly breakup just like everyone else. I really hope and pray that Angela and Courtney stay together and continue living as a happy, loving husband, wife, and family.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Authoritative, eye-popping, and massive, Art of Modern Rock is the first and last word on contemporary concert posters. An art form that has grown hand-in-hand with the independent music scene, heralding small and large gigs alike, the posters have emerged from visually creative street-level notices to prized collectibles rendered in a variety of styles and media. Today's poster artists combine the expressive freedom pioneered in the poster revolution of the 1960s with the attitude and the do-it-yourself approach of the punk scene, creating an unprecedented surge of innovative poster production on an international scale. Featuring over 1,600 exemplary rock posters and flyers from over 200 international studios and artists, Art of Modern Rock is the long-anticipated sequel to coauthor Paul Grushkin's The Art of Rock. Profiles and quotes from the pioneers in the field and their emerging heirs share nearly 500 gloriously packed pages of poster after mind-blowing poster. As brash and colorful as the burgeoning scene it documents, Art of Modern Rock is the must-have book for music and poster fans and collectors.
Customer Reviews:
A MUST for Any Fan of Illustration.......2007-09-26
"Art of Modern Rock" is a fantastic compilation of rock posters form bands both famous and obscure over the last 15-20 years or so. Separating them by subject (for instance, some chapters focus on "silkscreened" posters, others on digitally-produced art; still others look at themes of content like posters with horror themes, etc.), here you will find examples of high-illustration, psychadelic extrapolation, absurd visual puns (such as in the art of Derek Hess's posters), and abstract greatness.
Be warned - this book is an enormous book and has hundreds of pages printed on high-gloss paper. There is a bounteous selection of art here to be enjoyed. However, I was disappointed that some artists (such as the renowned master Coop) didn't receive as large an airing as other artists. However, this is an exceptional volume, one that artists will come back to again and again to appreciate and draw inspiration from.
Terrific book!.......2007-05-06
This is one of the greatest books I've read in the last ten years about rock posters. All kind of rock music is here. If you really like rock'n'roll music, you must get this one.
Fantastic.......2007-01-10
This book is THE bible for poster art. Fantastic collection of art, with great interviews and history accompanying. Obviously a lot of hard work by a lot of people passionate about poster art. Highly recommended.

Though he lived to be 64, it's always seemed that dancer-choreographer José Limón (1908-1972) was snatched from this earth prematurely. For that reason, the appearance of Limón's unfinished biography--which has the same assured, sensitive quality as his dances--is such a treasure.
Limón's writings here tell of his childhood and early adult years. Born in Culiacán, Mexico, the eldest of 12 children, Limón showed great talent as a visual artist from early on. His family moved to the U.S. when he was 7 (first to Arizona, then California), where he attended Catholic school and continued his drawing and painting. It was not until the late '20s, when he moved to New York City to study art, that Limón saw his first dance concert and changed course entirely. "I knew with shocking suddenness that until then I had not been alive or, rather, that I had yet to be born," he writes. With a level of detail that belies his sense of miraculous discovery, he chronicles his work with and appreciation of such 20th-century choreographic masters as Doris Humphrey, Charles Weidman, Martha Graham, and George Balanchine. The memoir ends just as Limón has formed his own company.
You couldn't ask for better stewardship for these papers, which had been viewable until now only at the dance collection of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The Society of Dance History Scholars, with Lynn Garafola acting as editor, drove this project. Carla Maxwell, the current artistic director of the José Limón Dance Company, wrote the foreword; and Village Voice dance critic Deborah Jowitt penned the introduction. For a short time, at least, Limon lives again. --Jean Lenihan

Book Description
The nameless evil that haunts a legendary punk rock outfit...a Gothic Horror novel about severe mental distress and punk rock. Semi-autobiographical novel from the Rudimentary Peni leading light plunging into the worlds of madness, suicide and anarchist punk. And it's a good read.
Customer Reviews:
The Rest Are Dead.......2006-01-06
Rudimentary Peni front-man Nick, quite possibly the only person to have written an album whilst sectioned under the mental health act, reveals some remarkably ironic and humorous accounts of the anarcho-punk movement, not to mention some of his interesting "episodes". They say there's a fine line between genius and madness, well Nick has taken that fine line, snapped it off, and wrapped it around his neck as a noose, but in a darkly intelligent way...

A little interesting, but not a great read.......2005-09-12
'The Primal Screamer'; with 1st edition copies now selling for around $125, this book is best left uncollected. It's a semi-interesting read (I happened to buy a copy for ten bucks when it first came out), but it's not that good. Written in a Lovecraftian style, it tells the story of some punker-type kids who wander around a dark neighborhood--the source of all evil is apparently a television in the flat's basement that has not been switched off for 20-something years. It's supposedly about a new form of psycho-therapy, etc. The story doesn't really come together, and the book makes it clear that Nick Blinko's talents are definitely musical.
One of the most unforgettable books I have ever read..........2004-01-28
I finally managed to obtain a copy of this masterpiece yesterday, and stayed up all night reading it. It's absolutely enthralling, right up to the mysterious and abrupt conclusion!
I know that I will never be able to forget the bizarrely surreal scenarios that I have experienced in "The Primal Screamer." I also can't help but wonder exactly how dissimilar the horrific (yet strangely beautiful) Nat Snoxell is to the infamous author...
Compelling--until the very end.......2003-06-21
WARNING: Spoilers in this review!
I was pleasantly surprised with this, Nick Blinko's thinly-veiled autobiography-cum-horror novel. Turns out he's a pretty great writer when he wants to be!
This book is told from the point of view of a therapist treating a recent suicide attempt (Nat Snoxell, who is really Blinko's representation of himself). The novel is told in the form of therapist's notes, in fact, which is an effective narrative choice on Blinko's part. To cure the troubled young man, the therapist convinces him to undergo primal scream therapy. It's like hypnosis, but the patient regresses to a primal, almost fetal state, and begins screaming out all his/her pent-up anger, rage, and despair.
The therapy doesn't seem to work. Blinko--er, I mean Snoxell--begins hanging out with vegan anarchists (the Crass Records group in real life), forms a band (aka Rudimentary Peni), and continues with his death fixation. The suicidal thoughts continue. The therapist has a very droll sense of humor; Blinko's writing here excels. In fact, it can be quite humorous, and one wonders if Blinko isn't really simply taking the piss out of his whole experience with the world of therapy in writing this book. One wonders how Blinko's real life therapist felt about how Blinko portrayed him. "Must record this in my sex diary tonight," the therapist scribbles to himself when thinking of some of the young man's problems. Little touches like this reveal Blinko's cynical wit.
My complaint: About 1/3 of the way through the book Blinko has set the tone for a good psychological horror novel. Just what is this disturbed young man up to? What is he really involved in that he isn't revealing to his therapits, his confidant? Is he manipulating the psychiatrist somehow? What is the story behind the secret compartments in his family's ancient house that he keeps his morbid playthings in?
After 120 pages, one gets the sense Blinko simply wanted to end the book, however, without playing up any of these potential directions for the book. A fan of HP Lovecraft, Blinko forcesa lot of Lovecraftianisms into the ending, and after some verbal pyrotechnics the novel abruptly ends, leaving many questions frustratingly unanswered. Instead of a purely psychological tale, therefore, we are left with the idea that there had been supernatural influences at play in the Snoxell character all along. But even these are not explained -- instead there's passing mention of cosmic evils, black magic, etc. To me, that's less frightening than the psychological stuff hinted at before, and much less tangible. It's also less interesting than what Blinko actually went through as a real mental patient and vegan anarcho-squatter who hung out with Crass and others.
Like most of Lovecraft's narrators, the therapist simply "goes mad" at the novel's conclusion. I found this to be a bit disappointing--although, to be honest, Blinko pulls it off better than Lovecraft ever did in the majority of his stories! If you're as big a fan of Rudimentary Peni as I am, this novel is a must. If you like Crass, Britpunk, etc, you should get this, too. And if you like psychological horror, or are an HP Lovecraft nerd, again, this is a must. Blinko's writing talent is impressive. If he put his mind to it, he could probably write even better stuff than this.
A Primal Dream.......2003-05-29
Nick Blinko is an insane man with great writing skills, grammar and a vast knowledge of how punk was and how it was being crazy. It's an autobiography to a certain point, then it becomes dreamland. Wizards, gobblins and dark fairytales consume the dreams of the writer. The ending is like that of H.P. Lovecraft who is also a magnificent writer. It has an excellent ending. I waited 4 months, it was worth it.

Good, thorough, and useful.......2007-10-01
Modern Recording Techniques was the required textbook for a class on live sound reinforcement that I am taking. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how readable and user friendly it is. The author does a good job in breaking subjects up into bite size (understandable) pieces that fit into the bigger scheme of things. For a textbook this is actually pretty straightforward and useful. If you are looking for a single source of information this is a good book, and the campanion website has added features so that you can hear examples and find out more. I definitely recommend it.
Another good one from Huber.......2007-09-24
I bought Huber's book on MIDI to be used as the text for a college class. When coupled with Modern Recording Techniques, the MIDI book made much more sense. Takes you from where MIDI left off and puts that knowledge to work. Again, written in a clear and concise manner, no frills, just good working and practical knowledge Buy both both his books.
Excellent.......2007-09-16
Product shipped very quickly and arrived in near perfect condition. Couldn't ask for more.
For those who don't understand including other reviewers.......2007-07-09
after reading a few reviews, i was pretty disturbed. although proof reading is very important to writing a book, i would hardly use it to build a strong argument why this book is not any good. I have a copy that is ten years old and is still extremely useful today. That's the beauty of this book. It's a reference book that holds it relevancy to an industry that is so ever changing. i guarantee you that books that try to show you the latest gadgets and opinions will be outdated if not obsolete within 5 years. I think think this book will give you an awesome foundation in sound recording no matter where technology goes. As a producer it's kinda like a switch blade and you never know how far down the road you will use this little "insignificant" tool. It might not answer in detail what you are looking for, but it will surely direct you on the path you need to go. what other sound recording book do you know of will stand the test of time like this one?
gotta respect the wisdom of the old engineers and producers. they ARE the reason why you have the plug-ins that you do for your DAWs.
Good but strange.......2007-01-19
This is good for beginners, but I must say the choices made in certain areas are quite strange. For example the coice of microphones. It includes some typical, but just as many very strange choices. And some sections that must be characterized as not essential gets more attetion than basics like eq, dynamics and microphone construction. Otherwise a good book.

Book Description
In his fascinating last book, Edward Said looks at a selection of essays, poems, novels, films, and operas to determine what late style may explain about the evolution of the creative life. He discusses how the approaching death of an artist can make its way “with anachronism and anomaly” into his work, as was the case in the late work of Thomas Mann, Richard Strauss, Jean Genet, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, and C. P. Cavafy. Said examines Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Genet’s Le captif amoureux and Les paravents, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Visconti’s film of Lampedusa’s The Leopard, Euripides’ The Bacchae and Iphigenia at Aulis, and Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice, among other works.
He points out that one can also find an “unearthly serenity,” in last works, for example, in Sophocles, Shakespeare, Rembrandt, Matisse, Bach, and Wagner, which, as Said puts it, “crown a lifetime of aesthetic endeavor.” But in On Late Style he concentrates on artistic lateness as “intransigence, difficulty, and unresolved contradiction.” He also writes about Theodor Adorno and about Glenn Gould, who chose to stop performing, thereby creating his own form of lateness. Said makes clear that most of the works discussed are rife with deep conflict and an almost impenetrable complexity. In fact, he feels that lateness is often “a form of exile.” These works frequently stood in direct contrast to what was popular at the time, but they were forerunners of what was to come in each artist’s particular discipline—works of true genius.
Eloquent and impassioned, brilliantly reasoned and revelatory, On Late Style is Edward Said’s own great last work.
Customer Reviews:
Late Style Said.......2007-06-18
Edward Said's writings never aim to make the obvious observation but instead seek to discover underlying strands of ideas that buoy up the work at hand and reveal subterranean layers of meaning. When he accomplishes this, his writings brim with the enthusiasm of a new discovery or the pleasure of understanding a familiar work in an unfamiliar way.
The cost to the reader not infrequently consists of wading through thickets of inpenetrable prose, prose that needs be hacked at to decipher the meaning intended. This necessity may be exacerbated in this collection by the fact that it was left unfinished and unpolished at his death. Nonetheless, skill in reading Theory and the jargon that attends it is required to comprehend, not to say appreciate, much of the early chapters. Happily much of this falls away as the book proceeds and many pearls are revealed undisguised and in fascinating verbal settings.
I continued to have difficulties with much of the entire enterprise: to wit, are Mozart's late operas really "late style" considering the man died so young? Surely they became "late style" by way of premature mortality alone. Extrapolating late style from one book wonders such as Di Lampedusa also stretches the point.
And yet incomplete, impenetrable and, as always, arguable Said, paradoxical as it sounds, remains more intellectually stimulating than most comparable critics, and still repays the effort it takes to read him.
