Zoey Keeps It Going!.......2007-08-17
Zoey Dean keeps her story of the A- list going in American Beauty. In this book, the seniors on the A-list are graduating and that means hanging out with friends, and going to parties. Anna is in a car crash and her dad sends his new intern Caine to come help her. Anna becomes good friends with Caine. Also things with Ben aren't doing that well, and they get into a fight at a party. Cammie tries to find out more about her moms death and Sam helps her by meeting up with her mom from North Carolina. Sam finally gets Eduardo back and they agree never to kiss anyone again, other than those two. Everyone goes to a girl from another school, Stefanie, and they set her up to get revenge, for what she said about Sam in the past. In the end they graduate and Anna chooses to hang out with Caine instead of Ben. Zoey really keeps her readers interested in this series.
So good.......2007-06-08
This is one of the best of the A-list novels. These books are so easy to relate to, and since I live in LA, I know every location that is talked about in the novel.
Awesome!!.......2006-12-04
I loved this book! I read it in two days(and I'm a slow-reader)! I thought it was great, but somehow I don't like what happens to Anna and Ben. They weren't together while he was with Blythe, his mistake was not to tell her in the first place... but we'll see what happens to them in the next book! But it doesn't come out until April... we will have to wait a long time, but I hope it's worth it!!
A-List 7: American Beauty.......2006-11-05
So... Cammie and Sam try to find out whether her father really killed her mother, Anna thinks something is wrong with Ben and happens to be absolutely right, and Jack and Dee have a great relationship... or so it seems.
The only reason I gave it four stars was because it seemed kind of... I don't know... lacking. I usually have fun seeing what kind of reckless stuff the people do but this book didn't really have much in the wild and reckless department. It was kind of serious, more serious than the others.
The A-list, the guiltiest of guilty pleasures!!.......2006-10-16
I have read the A-list from the beginning and there is one main reason why it became one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Two Words: Sam Sharpe. This is my favorite character, I just love they way she developed, her approach to things, her cynicism that hides a very emotionally troubled young woman. She is the less cliched of all the four main characters (Anna...classy, prim and proper Hampton girl, yawn..., Cammie the uberbitch always on the verge of redeeming herself and Dee the real LosAngelino character, with all her ingenuity, incense sticks and sojourns in the loony bin). These stories, developments and characters are totally unreal, but hey people, this is FICTION! And meant to be FUN! The characters won't cover their heads in ashes, donate their money to the poor and join Mother Teresa's nuns...It is so exaggerated that it is fascinating for a European like yours truly...
Only CAVEAT: I would actually NOT recommend this book to teens, because many of them could mistake it for reality, or set their goals way over the top.

In the wake of World War I, a community of expatriate American writers established itself in the salons and cafes of 1920s Paris. They congregated at Gertrude Stein's select soirees, drank too much, married none too wisely, and wrote volumes--about the war, about the Jazz Age, and often about each other. F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife, Zelda, were part of this gang of literary Young Turks, and it was while living in France that Fitzgerald began writing Tender Is the Night. Begun in 1925, the novel was not actually published until 1934. By then, Fitzgerald was back in the States and his marriage was on the rocks, destroyed by Zelda's mental illness and alcoholism. Despite the modernist mandate to keep authors and their creations strictly segregated, it's difficult not to look for parallels between Fitzgerald's private life and the lives of his characters, psychiatrist Dick Diver and his former patient turned wife, Nicole. Certainly the hospital in Switzerland where Zelda was committed in 1929 provided the inspiration for the clinic where Diver meets, treats, and then marries the wealthy Nicole Warren. And Fitzgerald drew both the European locale and many of the characters from places and people he knew from abroad.
In the novel, Dick is eventually ruined--professionally, emotionally, and spiritually--by his union with Nicole. Fitzgerald's fate was not quite so novelistically neat: after Zelda was diagnosed as a schizophrenic and committed, Fitzgerald went to work as a Hollywood screenwriter in 1937 to pay her hospital bills. He died three years later--not melodramatically, like poor Jay Gatsby in his swimming pool, but prosaically, while eating a chocolate bar and reading a newspaper. Of all his novels, Tender Is the Night is arguably the one closest to his heart. As he himself wrote, "Gatsby was a tour de force, but this is a confession of faith."
Book Description
Published in 1934, Tender Is the Night was one of the most talked-about books of the year. "It's amazing how excellent much of it is," Ernest Hemingway said to Maxwell Perkins. "I will say now," John O'Hara wrote Fitzgerald, "Tender Is the Night is in the early stages of being my favorite book, even more than This Side of Paradise." And Archibald MacLeish exclaimed: "Great God, Scott...You are a fine writer. Believe it -- not me."
Set on the French Riviera in the late 1920s, Tender Is the Night is the tragic romance of the young actress Rosemary Hoyt and the stylish American couple Dick and Nicole Diver. A brilliant young psychiatrist at the time of his marriage, Dick is both husband and doctor to Nicole, whose wealth goads him into a lifestyle not his own, and whose growing strength highlights Dick's harrowing demise. A profound study of the romantic concept of character -- lyrical, expansive, and hauntingly evocative -- Tender Is the Night, Mabel Dodge Luhan remarked, raised F. Scott Fitzgerald to the heights of "a modern Orpheus."

Customer Reviews:
a dull book full of dull pompous characters........2007-08-18
i usually finish a book this size in about 3 days. "tender is the night" took me about 7 months to painfully crawl through. i could only handle a few pages at a time. it was like a sleep inducing narcotic, without being any fun at all. I read and (i believe) i loved "the great gatsby" about 20 years ago. i had been thinking it was time to reread that work, but now i am afraid to. "tender is the night," was soooo bad. if the characters in this tedious book were drawn from the lives of the fitzgeralds (as i've read they were), then it's no wonder that zelda went insane & f scott drank himself into an early grave. (Dear God, as i write this i can sense the gravitational pull toward the unhelpful button that is being exerted on computer mouses all over america. what am i doing! yet i can't help myself. on i go.) who could stand such pompous dullards for company? if all books were filled with people like the ones found in this novel, I would simply read "Marley & Me," and call it a day for book reading. yuck.
Fitzgerald's weakest novel, but a good read...........2007-07-07
Through the narrative, it's clear that Fitzgerald cannot choose which character to develop, and in the end, none is explored satisfactorily. As a panorama of failed marriage, "Tender" lacks the strength of "The Beautiful and Damned", which I consider to be similar and superior, though less popular.
But still, F. Scott Fitzgerald is F. Scott Fitzgerald, and the writing is wondrous, but this is not his quintessential book.
If the absurdist movement is regaining steam in American culture, this explains the resurgence of popularity in this novel, which though strong in the first third, turns out as an unsatisfying mess.
Fitzgerald's most personal novel.......2007-06-21
In a Swiss sanatorium above lake Zürich, Dr Richard (Dick) Diver meets a fascinating young patient, Nicole Warren. Nicole suffers from Divided Personality at its acute down-hill phase which translates in her fear of men because she was the victim of incest after her mother's death.
Nicole's state improves after some time at the clinic and Richard marries her. They move to the French Riviera where they live in the glamour provided by Nicole's family money but soon their luck runs out.
This novel is Fitzgerald's most personal one if one considers that his own wife Zelda became increasingly troubled with mental illness in the 1930s and so the story of Dick Diver and his schizophrenic wife Nicole shows the pain that the author went through himself. It is the moving account of the collapse of a marriage and an attempt to diagnose the sickness and destruction that money breeds. Dick's final loneliness in the novel reflects Fitzgerald's own dive into drink and despair.
I love books and this one is just bad..........2007-04-22
Boring, outdated ex-patriate story of life in Paris between the wars, focusing on a young American actress, a psychologist Dr. Diver and his wife, an American baroness with issues. Lots of drinking and gossip.
Fitzgerald would give anything for a happy ending?.......2007-04-16
Why does Nicole and Dick's marriage disintigrate? The obvious answer is that Dick compromised his integrity marrying Nicole for her money and that Dick is an egomaniac, needing to be needed.
The deeper more true answer is that Nicole and Dick didn't have a partnership. She was sick and couldn't give very much back to Dick--to the relationship. And it gets tiring or boring always doing the same things for the same person to save them from themselves over and over again. Co-dependent relationships don't work.
Although a lot of the discussions about mental illness are extremely dated, some of the descriptions are painfully accurate. I identified with Nicole's sister who could only stop worrying about Nicole if: 1) Nicole married a Doctor to take care of her, and 2) if Niole lived near a sanitarium.
This is what it is like to have a loved one who is mentally ill:
"It was necessary to treat her [Nicole] with active, affirmative insistence, keeping the road to reality always open, making the road to escape harder going. But the brillance, the versatility of madness is akin to the resourcefulness of water seeping through and over and around a dike. It requires the united front of many people to work against it".
Too bad there are no organized ways of providing an organized front in our culture to help the mentally ill.
Perhaps Fitzgerald (FSF) would have swapped his well being for Zelda's--a prayer, "Lord, take my sanity but give Zelda back hers. Unlike Nicole, Zelda didn't get better.
I loved the description of the Rivera and Switzerland in the 1920s. I wish i could have been a part of it. The first part of the book is like watching the movie "To Catch a Thief" with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. You just love the ambience.
I liked this book better than _The Great Gatsby_ because I cared more about the characters and because it is autobiographical, and because I have had a loved one who is mentally ill.

The original Master Key System writings, available only through referrals from one person to another, were a closely guarded secret in Europe for decades. They were considered essentially secret wisdom teachings amongst primarily only the very wealthy. In 1912, Charles F. Haanel published this body of knowledge as a work which he presented as The Master Key System. This material was distributed as a weekly correspondence course in Twenty-Four parts, including a transmittal letter and questions and answers. In addition to the complete 24 part Master Key System Donald Gordon Carty has added sections like; Reflection (which will serve as time markers), Hourly Helps(which will instruct you on how to handle the things which wear soul, spirit, and body almost to the snapping point), a section entitled Interpreting the Word and an explanation of The 12 Universal Laws. This book contains the secret to all you need and want out of life; Health, Wealth, and Love.

Book Description
Three girls with three agendas and the ultimate destination: the Hamptons.
Summer in the city? Way overrated. Everybody who's anybody in New York City summers in the Hamptons. Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui all want a piece of the action, all for different reasons.
So the girls answer a classified ad to become au pairs. How bad can it be, watching a couple of kids on the beach all day? They've got the swank address, the sweet ride, and an all-access pass to the hottest social scene on the East Coast. It's shaping up to be the summer of their lives.
Customer Reviews:
Just as good as the listed books!!!!!.......2006-11-22
"The au pairs" was a good book that I read after the "Gossip Girls" and the "A-list" series. It amazing how the author takes three very different and diverse girls and put them under the same roof working for the same person. It's a friendship waiting to happen even though at first they had their differences: how Jacqui and Eliza love to party and Mara is more of a home body. This book is filled with laughter, love, parties, friendship. The way the book is laid out it makes you want to continue reading it. Melissa de la Cruz did an amazing job on writing this book so I read the other ones in the series and they were just as good as the first so I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.
Luv ya much
~ Breanna Grimes (Grandville, Michigan)
fabulous beach read.......2006-08-13
For a chance at $10, 000 and the best parties of the summer, three girls, Mara, Eliza, and Jacqui, sign up to be au pairs at a wealthy family's house. Mara is there to escape her small-town life. Eliza is there in hopes to reclaim her It Girl status she lost with her father's bankruptcy. Jacqui is there to find a guy she loved and lost. Once there, though, none of their plans go as followed, and they leave changed, for the better. This book was very realistic, and I liked it a lot. It has slightly more substance than many other beach reads, and overall is a great novel.
Excellent.......2006-07-21
This book is a great read that goes by fast. I had a really hard time putting it down. The character differences are great and it made me want to continue. I found it to be fast paced and I was hooked from the get go. No I am not a young adult, but I do enjoy quick light reading and that's exactly what it was. I give it five stars with a smile.
shallow and trite.......2006-06-12
I didn't expect a lot out of this book (I mean, look at the cover), so I guess it really didn't disappoint. I just found it annoying. Basically, everyone in the book is "cool" because they wear the "right" clothes, know the "right" people, smoke and do drugs and seem to have limitless access to alcohol regardless of how underage they are. Even though the author tries to separate the three nannies from the rest of the frivolity, they don't prove to be much different. They all have shallow relationships yet seem to be shocked when things go awry (hello! like we can't tell that a relationship based on nothing more than looks and accessibity isn't meant to last, despite the fact that they're all only 16!).
And these girls are NOT nannies. The author paints a rediculous portrait of au pairs in which they do nothing, are hardly ever around and yet the kids always fall in line. The nannies refer to the kids as monsters and brats, but the kids are practically angelic when you consider that they never get in any trouble even though that have almost no supervision. Reality check, please.
If all you're looking for is a light, fluffy read with no wit or depth and no redeemable qualities, perhaps this is the book you're searching for. Cruz doesn't even portray the cliched snobbishness in a clever way; the writing and plot are completely expected and droll. But if you want to read about relationships as told by someone who can actually write well, check out Sarah Dessen or Deb Caletti. This book is as bad, if not worse, than the gossip girl series. Not worth the time of anyone even slightly intellectual.
The Au Pairs-Intiguing!.......2006-04-10
The Au Pairs by Melissa de la Cruz is an exhilarating book about three teens who think being a Summer Au Pair in the Hamptons will be filled with partying, hot guys, and expensive, designer clothes. What they don't know is that the au pairs that came before them were fired for this reason. Can they survive a summer of
working all day and partying all night? And will they all find what they're looking for, love? With a little bit of romance and adventure, this book will leave you on the seat of your chair.
Written in second person, this book gives you a great insight of the Hamptons; rich people flaunting their money, glamorous parties, gigantic houses, and plenty of designer clothes, but behind the text, it shows that the Hamptons isn't as great as it sounds. Broken hearts, working with hangovers, and an abundance of mistrust within housemates construct the girls to change their minds about the Hamptons.
In the book, Mara, a country girl, describes the view of a big party:
"We drove to an imposing modern mansion on Settler's Landing with P.Diddy's initials carved into wrought iron gates. Several billowing white tents were set up near the entrance to facilitate the guest check-in. Eliza told me that she'd heard the entire city of East Hampton had to be insured for up to five million dollars against any incident related to the party and that Puffy had paid for an eleven-thousand-square-foot tent."
I thought this book was really intriguing because it gives a great description of the Hamptons for those who have never seen something so big and glamorous. I also really liked it because of all the drama from one girl to the next. If you liked Pop Princess by Rachel Cohn, you might like this because it shares related stereotypical, big town, drama.

Customer Reviews:
This book is excellent and has powerful principles to learn and grow by........2007-10-04
Aiman elaborates on why and how the law of attraction works and how one can create vibrations on what he or she wants. This will draw in people possessing similar positive vibrations, i.e., "like attracts like."
Al-Maimani simple to follow steps walk you through the subtle ways of preventing negative vibrations from occurring by default.
I love this book! It is so simple and easy! It really helps put the Law of Attraction into action. I've kept it as a resource and have recommended it to several people that are still trying to figure out the Law of Attraction.
However, all of the material in this book is essentially worthless unless and until a reader makes and then sustains a full commitment to assume 100% responsibility for her or his life.
This book is a terrific guide to creating a successful life. If you want to learn at the feet of the master, you'll pick up this book!
Very Disappointing!!.......2007-08-24
This is the first time I have ever written a negative review but feel I had a responsibility to do so. Before buying this book I read all the reviews and ignored the negative ones thinking they were the exception. However, now I believe the the positive ones must be coming from friends, or relatives, etc of the author.
This book is only 94 pages long. Only 34 pages have actual text. the remaining pages are general graphics, titles of the one page chapters containing just a one or two sentence quote.
This book was a waste of my money!! I feel ripped off & that this author just decided to get on the LOA band wagon thinking he could make some quick bucks! My advise: Don't be fooled by the reviews. I would recommend Michael Loziers "Law of Attraction" if this is the kind of book you are looking for.
Empower the law of attraction with these simple steps!.......2007-04-09
What a marvelous book! Most books speak of the Law of Attraction and focus simply on `believing you have' and thereby creating the reality you want. Aiman Al-Maimani's book, How to Attract Wealth, Health, Love, and Luck into Your Life Immediately really is a complete manual for activating the law of attraction in your life. The processes he outlines are very simple and also very complete. If you follow his instructions, you will definitely experience real changes in your life. The real key to the power of the positive thinking lies in the power of positive `doing' and Aiman Al-Maimani shows you how. This is book is a must read!
empowering & inspirational .......2007-04-05
Overall, I found this book to be a fun, easy, insightful, inspirational read. Much of the "pieces of wisdom" are geared to help you to grow into self-confident, self-sufficient person.
Strategies That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed.......2007-04-02
I found this book straight to the point and straight to the heart.
The Author is a master of self-help skills development. In this treasure chest, he gives us an encyclopedia of inner wealth more knowledge-based, action-oriented, and relevant to today's global achiever than any other source you can tap.

NEEDS A SEQUEL.......2007-01-24
This is a book that whets the appetite for more light-hearted takes on American society, status and snobbery.
Pure entertainment, although I'm sure there will be those who take it as gospel.
I send it as a gift to my friends in Europe.
A HOOT.......2006-06-23
An easy, fun read, but the reviewer SOCIAL CLIMBER from Sonoma CA listed the author's email address incorrectly. It's kevindoyle42@earthlink.net. Doyle answered me with a list of other titles when I contacted him. HOW TO MEET BEAUTIFUL WOMEN and DATING YOUNGER WOMEN are also written with tongue firmly in cheek.
Entertaining Author.......2006-06-17
When I contacted the author at his email address listed in the earlier review, he answered and said the book was guaranteed to work and if it doesn't he buys the disgruntled reader a new Cadillac. How To Marry Money is full of the same wry humor.
Worth Reading.......2006-06-16
It took a while to get past the first few pages, but I kept reading and the remaining chapters had helpful pointers about life in general, love, work and self image. I called the author's publicist and received his email address kevindoyle42@earthlin.net and have been exchanging dialog since.
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.......2005-11-16
It was annoying to find my wife reading a book with a title like this but, after picking it up and reading it, I found it to be a lot of fun.
Now I take the advice of another reviewer (who found as "entertaining as it is instructional") and often give HOW TO MARRY MONEY as a light-hearted gift for clients, graduates & hostesses.
Book Description
Dan Broderick was one of California's most successful attorneys; his wife, Betty, a beautiful socialite. But when Betty discovered Dan's hidden life, the façade of LaJolla's golden couple was shattered. What followed was a vicious five-year battle that finally ended in a shocking double-murder.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Dan manipulated the law to strip Betty of everything she loved: her home, her friends - even her children. When she frantically tried to fight back, he had her committed to a mental hospital. His new wife, Linda, even sent the once-beautiful Betty wrinkle cream ads and weight loss pamphlets.
Consumed by hatred and thoughts of revenge, Betty's rage exploded on the night of November 5, 1989. Before the sun rose the next day, Dan Broderick and his gorgeous new wife were dead - their bullet-riddled bodies wrapped in the blood-soaked sheets of their bed.

Hell hath no fury ..........2007-07-10
Betty Broderick. Where oh where to start with this case? This was a murder case that spoke to us on so many levels, made us all shake our heads, turn our noses up, and secretly fear our own insecurities and what we are capable of.
Betty and Dan were high school / college sweethearts, who started off with such hopes and dreams that they would have a wonderful life together. Their family started almost immediately after they married (their first of 5 children arriving nearly 9 months to the day they married). Dan went to medical school and later law school while Betty raised the kids and did the primary bread winning as a school teacher. Once Dan had completed his education, he accepted a job with a California law firm and they moved to the west coast. From there he began to build his career to become one of the most successful and wealthiest men in town, and Betty could quit working to dedicate all her time to her kids.
It wasn't, however, a fairy tale. Dan and Betty's relationship was troubled from the beginning. They would eventually divorce, and it was anything but a peaceful affair. Betty went from being a "normal person" to a pathetic, psychotic hysteric. Dan began to cheat with Linda, and would eventually marry her. Betty's hysteria went from reasonable to destructive (driving her car through the front door of the house which got her thrown into a psych hospital, for example). It all came to a head when she bought a gun, snuck into her ex husband's house one morning, and shot both him and Linda while they slept. Now she's behing bars.
It's so hard to take sides in something like this. You see so clearly what Betty wanted and what was taken away from her. Yet you also see what Dan wanted, and what was taken away from him. Not to mention Linda. And the kids. And their friends, and their families. So many marriages start off so innocently and with such hopes, and so many end so bitterly. Where are those two people who were so in love once in the wedding pictures? Their partnership fell apart. But then again, as I have seen, the majority of people I have seen marry never should have. They were not right for each other. And sometimes we have to realize that and leave the marriages. It's when one doesn't want to that you will get a crazy story like this. Divorce is never pleasent, that's for sure, and you will face terrible times as you realize you have just had the rug ripped out from under you. But, have some dignity. If not for yourself, for your family and friends.
And, Betty, as far as I am concerned, has a genuine element of evil in her. I understand her sense of despair, her jealousy of the other woman, etc., but she has caused such chaos. It would not could not end until someone died. Dan and Linda had to die before Betty's rage was satisfied. To this day she has expressed no remorse over the fact that the both of them are dead. She says "Dan wanted me dead, but I'm alive". Alive to rot in prison, alive to have lost everything, and alive to be a sad joke to many.
There are No Winners Here! Just Losers!.......2007-06-12
I first saw the television film adaptation which was pro-Dan and Linda all the way. They never showed Dan and Linda bad-mouthing Betty. In the film, Betty was portrayed brilliantly by Meredith Baxter but she played her as a demented, sore loser who never got over losing Dan, her man. In the book, we read more about Betty's feuding which was more like a World War and Dan's indifference to his former wife's well-being. He tossed her aside when he found a suitable replacement like hiring and firing but Betty didn't go easily or ever. She was obsessed with Dan and Linda and defeating them no matter what the cost. The book dispels that Dan was a wonderful husband and father only when he was forced too by Betty dumping the kids off one by one. Betty was smart, attractive, and wittier than some of the most professional comedians according to one of her close friends. She discharged by her husband rather because he decided to have a younger model and version. Now, I don't condone Betty's actions when she shot and killed them in their sleep. Of course if I was Linda, I would run away as fast as I could. Yes, you're in love but look at his first wife. I don't understand why Dan disowned his daughter Lee Gordon Broderick upon his death maybe for siding with Betty over Dan. Dan never liked to lose in life but he lost in death. There is a website where you can't leave flowers and notes on Dan and Linda's graves because it has been misused. That blockage is usually reserved for dictators and serial killers. I think Linda was in way over her head when she married Dan not seeing this coming and thinking that Dan could save them both. I remember in the film where a senior secretary played by Debra Jo Rupp warned Dan about how to treat people fairly when she saw Linda rise above her. It was a poignant moment in the film and maybe showed a side of Dan's egotism that he can handle everything. Like I wrote, there are no winners from this situation. I feel sorry for the children the most for suffering through the loss of their father, stepmother, and their mother's role in their murders.
Betty.......2005-12-07
This book was ok but not near as good as until the twelfth of never. that book really gives you more of an inside look into the life of Dan and Betty Broderick. This book is a quick read if you are looking for a light read on the story and not a lot of details.
One of The Lighter Books,Another Quick Read.......2005-09-29
I feel like a professional as far as this case goes. LOL I have stated before that after seeing the totally pro Dan and Linda movie (The Betty Broderick Story) I started reading and watching everything about this case, including the court tv show, A&E Justice Story, MNCBS Headliners etc...While I will grant that Betty murdering them was over the top, some of the stunts of Dan and Linda were over the top too. You also have to keep in mind that Dan was the one whose "friends" were the lawyers and judges, not Betty. In spite of friends saying she could have gone to another county to find a lawyer, it really was not as easy as all that. The woman was completly blind-sided by this man she had worked so hard for. It truly was a sad, sad story. This book was quick, but did not have many details and certainly not reserched as the book by Bella Stumbo was. It was okay and added maybe a little more insight to the case but not much.
WOW!!! Real life drama.......2005-08-29
I became introduced to this case through court TV and many documentaries, and all I can say is WOW!!!! No matter what you feel about the victims or Betty, you have to feel for the children who were put through this. I was heartbroken while reading this book. It has the same feel of the book I read for the movie "Goodfellas" and you do sort of feel caught up in the mess. It's sad really, but it's a teaching lesson if you look it at in a positive light.

Pretty Accurate.......2005-10-19
I asked a friend if she wanted to know if she met her soulmate and she said she knew she had -- 15 years ago in another country so no she already knew the answer. Well when she ordered her own copy, testing the accuracy of the book she asked if she had met her soulmate and the answer was the person was in a foreign land! It blew her mind.
A Wise Addition to Your New Age Library.......2003-08-29
This book is great. The answers are so wise and yet so gentle, working with the book is like getting the best psychic reading you've ever had. Last night I asked about a man who wants to come back into my life, "Is it a good idea to forgive him?" And the book answered, "Yes, perhaps, but this will not be the last time you have to be forgiving." I had a nagging feeling that was how this situation will play out, but I didn't want to admit it to myself. Now I will consider myself warned.
I do agree with one of the previous reviewers in that I had difficulty choosing an image at random using only my finger, but I solved this problem by using my pendulum with this book. I move the pendulum over the images until it starts circling, and eureka! There is the correct answer. You could also use dice, I suppose, since the book is big enough that the page with the images lies flat.
Highly recommended!
Fantastic.......2002-09-30
A great way of finding your answers, when your mind is too cloudy to think or to hear what your guides are trying to tell you. Simple, quick and easy to use. A fantastic book.
Uncannily accurate!!!.......2002-01-27
I bought this friend for my book and whenever we use it we get accurate results. It's very simple to use, all you have to do is hover your finger around a wheel of symbols and whichever one you are attracted to you look at the back of the book, find the page to turn to and read your answer. It seems a bit silly to have your finger point to an answer you need guidance on but it works. Although the questions that you can ask are a bit vague, the answers are not. I'd recommend this book for people who are not ready to divine with more complicated objects(ex: tarot, runes, iching) but for someone looking for simple straight forward answers.
I don't enjoy giving negative reviews but..........2001-01-01
This book wasn't for me. The book is supposed to give you answers, but its not as easy as its said to be. The book works like this. You're given 100 questions to choose from, and the questions are written in such away that just about anything you could think to ask is indeed in there. Next you hold you hand over a wheel with a pictorial representation of each of the 13 witch's moons. Here's the tricky part. You're to hold the question in you mind and your finger is supposed to be attracted to one of the symbols at which point, following the clearly written instructions, you would go and look up the answer to your question. My problem with things such as these, are my fingers are never attracted anywhere. I've been studying and trying the craft for the past several years without success. However, if you're one of those people able to use these tools effectively, this book would probably be a spectacular find for you. Its other benefit is this, just like a ouiji board, it can be a very fun thing for people to do at a party or whatnot.

Book Description
Good girls.
Life in La Crosse couldn’t be any blah-er. Kiley’s way out? A pricey school in California that she can only afford if she’s a resident of the Golden State. That’s why she’s on Platinum Nanny, vying for the chance to work for a wacko rock star–or be sent home nationally humiliated.
Wild girls.
Lydia has spent eight years stuck in the Amazon with her do-gooding parents. When her aunt offers her a lifeline–babysitting in posh Bel Air–Lydia hops the next plane to civilization. Pucci sandals, poolside cabanas, clubbing in Hollywood It spots–was there even a question she’d accept? Now she just has to find a cute pool boy to make up for all that lost time. . . .
Wilder boys.
Moving into the guesthouse of one of Beverly Hills’ most powerful families isn’t exactly what Esme had in mind for a summer job. Neither was losing her head over Jonathan, her new boss’s almost famous (and already hot) son. Safe to say her boyfriend isn’t going to like this.
Grab your sunglasses and welcome to The Nannies, a crazy world of Hollyweird backstabbing and skyscraping palm trees, spoiled tots and private swim lessons. But how hard can a nanny job be?
After all, eight to four is kid time. After that? It’s our time.
Customer Reviews:
fun summer read.......2006-06-16
The Nannies was a fast, fun read, not much different from the ritzy Gossip Girl series. The Nannies is about three different girls who come to LA for different nanny positions. Lydia, who has spent the recent years of her life in the Amazon, wrangling any magazines she could get her hands on, jumps at the chance to be the nanny for her cousins, children of her famous tennins-playing aunt. Kylie, who grew up in an invisible small town in Wisconsin, tries out for Platinum Nanny, a reality TV competition to become the nanny for the bratty kids of their even more bratty pop-star mother, Platinum. Finally, there's Esme, who grew up in the gang-filled, poverty-struck Echo Park, a little distance from LA. When Esme goes to the mansion of the famous Goldhagens where her parents are the help, she is convinced to be the Goldhagen's nanny for their adopted Colombian twins, Easton and Weston, also as a translator between the twins' Spanish and the Goldhagens' English. Enjoy!
A cute, fast read.......2006-06-10
I read this book pretty quickly. yes, it did have its dull spots, but overall it was a good book.
"The Nannies" is about three different girls who somehow find themselves being nannies to very wealthy children.
First theres Kiley. Kiley goes on the show Platinum Nanny to try to become the nanny of, rock star, Platinum's children. But she has trouble adapting to a life in California other than her hometown in Wisconsosn.
Next is Esme. Esms is from a gang ridden town but her life changes when she gets a job as being nanny to tv producer Steve Golhagen's adopted twins. The twins only speak spanish so Esme is chosen to teach them english.
Last is Lydia. Lydia lived as a rich kid in texas until her parents decided to move to the amazon basin. after eight years of being in the amazon Lydia gets a job offer from her aunt (a famous gay espn tennis reporter) to be her childrens nanny. Lydia gratefully accepts the offer.
This book was cute and an easy read. I reccomend it to anyone.
Amazing.......2006-06-07
I took this book for my english book report thinking that it will be quite boring but obce i've started it, i've finished it in 2 hours!! It's the best book i've read these past years. It's easy to understand and has a plot that could happen to anyone
A bit disappointed.......2006-06-02
For my English book report, I thought that The Nannies by Melody Mayer looked like a good interesting book, but once I started reading it, I was a bit disappointed with the book because it had some disturbing imagery and a boring narrative . Most of the content in the book was very inappropriate for anyone reading it under 15. The book had a series of plots. One was about a girl named Kiley who was offered a spot on Platinum Nanny. The grand prize? To be a nanny for one of the most famous celebrities named Platinum. If the stress wasn't enough for her, her mom tagged along to help her daughter along the way. Next up is a girl named Lydia who spent eight years living in the Amazon. Her two aunts asked her to be a nanny for some unbearable kids. Now theres Esme who has a lot on her mind and a secret that's been sealed, but meets a boy that she starts to fall in love with. An excerpt from the book that in my opinion was a boring narrative was: "Esme could see that her new friend was trying to cover her shock. She understood why. The route to Junior's had taken them through the heart of Echo Park--past the seedy bars, the addicts looking for a mark, the gangstas claiming their turf." I mean none of that was descriptive, showed any sign of imagery, or any details whatsoever.
More Nannies!.......2005-10-20
I am the kind of girl who reads everything, from classics to fun books like Gossip Girl, and even authors like Laurie Halse Anderson and Chris Lynch. I have to say that The Nannies is my favorite fun book that I have read in a long time. All three girls are so likable in their own way. Kiley is the girl that you can most relate to, because she's normal and trying to reach her dream. The girl Esme from the rough part of Los Angeles is very practical and has a lot of experience that most girls don't. The girl Lydia, who lived in the Amazon, is the funniest of the three. What I liked most about the book is that the girls all had very strong goals, and the book was about them reaching those goals. There are plenty of cute guys and great shopping along the way, too!
