Book Description
From New York Times bestselling authors Carl Weber and Mary B. Morrison comes this powerful, unforgettable novel about the ultimate player who has finally run into the wrong woman...
After a rocky marriage, irresistibly seductive Jay Crawford is ready for a new woman--and a new challenge. It doesn't take him long to discover both in one fine package: Ashlee Anderson. With a face and body that scream sex, she's just what he's looking for--hard-to-get, feisty, and freaky. But he'd never suspect just how freaky...
Ashlee turns out to be every bit as sexy as Jay suspected. What should've been a one-night stand extends into months of lovemaking that's too hot to give up and designed to burn him like never before. For Ashlee has no intention of letting their relationship ever end. Now Jay is in over his head with a woman who will go to any lengths to possess him. Trouble is, Ashlee's psycho behavior turns him on like nothing else. Maybe they're both crazy. But when Ashlee makes a shocking confession, Jay knows she definitely ain't the one and he's got to get away from her before she completely destroys his life...
"Weber spins a lively, revelation-packed tale deepened by genuine emotion, convincing detail and smart dialogue."--Publishers Weekly on The Preacher's Son
"Morrison delivers a deep, passionate story that holds readers from beginning to end." --Black Issues Book Review on Never Again Once More

New fan.......2007-08-29
I purchased this book because someone told me that Carl Weber was an excellent writer. Not only did I love this book, but I found myself becoming a Mary B. Morrison fan. I love the way she writes. As soon as I finished the book I found myself online looking to see what else she has written. I am eager with anticipation and can't wait to read her next work. I highly recomment this book for everyone to read.
Hot and juciy.......2007-08-19
This book was good. I loved the plot and it definitely was a page turner. Jay should have figured out that Ashlee was unstable and bounced. But, he didn't and ended up screwed. I felt sorry for Ashlee at first but, her behavior mad me hate her. She got Jay back for hurting her but, took it a little to far.
EXCELLENT!!!!.......2007-07-31

ALSO I FOLLOWED CARL SINCE MARRIED MEN AND IF U DO NOT KNOW TO GIVE U A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF JAY'S CHARACTER YOU WOULD HAVE TO READ MARRIED MEN BY CARL WEBER TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE "USED TO BE ABOUT". I FELT BAD FOR JAY B/C IF U KNEW HIM IN MARRIED MEN U WOULD SAY HE DESERVED EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED TO HIM ALMOST. BUT EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE RIGHT???? WELL THIS IS A MIND BLOWING BOOK THAT WILL HAVE U LIKE I KNOW SHE DIDN'T DO THAT. THIS BROAD IS CRAZY SO CRAZY THAT SHE DID SOME OF THE UNTHINKABLE. She's Turning into One of Them!.......2007-05-15
Again - what memories there are in these - we've all been there and remember this kind of thing.
Another Great book ..........2007-03-30
Another Great book to visit the Patterson's with. "For Better / For Worse" has to be one of the best comic strips of all time. It really makes you think, "They are just like my family", and if you do not have kids, read the books so you know what to prepare for.
A solid FBOFW book........2007-03-08
We own all of the "For Better or For Worse" books and the whole family enjoys them! In fact some of us read them more than once. This one is just as good as the others.
The loss of a previously good strip.......2007-01-18
Although I am a longtime reader of For Better or For Worse, the last few years have been painful. This collection begins to show the downward slide of the storytelling and artwork. The native characters introduced have recently been completely trashed by Ms. Johnston, and this collection also covers the ongoing story of two main characters who conduct an emotional affair, even though one character is married and has a child. Even more bizarrely, everyone in the strip is portrayed as endorsing the breakup of the characters marriage and the hookup of these two.
Many of the forums devoted to FBOFW, have completely predicted all the storylines months (sometimes years)in advance. The plots are predictable and the character developments have been completely messed up, simply to fit into a nice little tie-up for Johnston's scheduled retirement date. Unfortunately, she should have retired two years ago when readers still had an affection for the characters.
Good Laugh.......2007-01-10
Really enjoyed this book, chuckled again over the strips we had enjoyed in the newspaper.

Customer Reviews:
Not the best book you'll find for teenagers.......2005-12-28
If you are looking for a good, tear-jerking story that makes you care about the characters, you will need to look elsewhere. "She Died Too Young" features perfect characters that are miserable because they all need organ transplants to live. Both reach a critical stage, and surprise! there's only one set of organs! So one of the two has to die. And of course, there are a couple of flawless, gorgeous guys waiting around for the girls. Please don't waste your time or money on this book--save a tree.
Death of Young Girl.......2004-12-16
This Book is called She Died Too Young. It was written by Lurlene McDaniel. This girl named Chelsea James needs a heart transplant. She goes to stay with her friend Katie's house waiting for the news for the donor. Chelsea and Katie met at a place called Jenny House and they spent a wonderful sommer together. Chelsea goes to a place where they talk about the way they feel. Chelsea made a new friend named Jillian. She was really nice. Jillian invited her to her house. She and Katie was picked up in a limo to go to her house and they thought that was pretty cool. This is a fantastic book and it made me think that I need to be thankful for what I have because I could end up like her someday. I think that the theme is most represented in this book because you learn a lesson a bout life when you put yourself in Chelsea's shoes and you find out that you may not have a chance to survive. You need to know that life isn't always fair. If you like Relistic Fiction books than I recommend this book for you to read. I gave this book five stars because this book will touch your heart in certain ways.
A great read!.......2004-12-14
I first read this book in 1994 when I was 10 years old. I got it from the book fair and was fascinated by all things medical. It ended up touching me so much and I continue to read Lurlene Mcdaniel books at 21. I re-read "She died too young" this summer and it can still make me cry. The friendship of Jillian and Chelsea is something we all need. I very much recommend this book..It'll really make you appreciate your own friends.
One of Lurlene's greatest!.......2002-06-05
By reading some of the other reviews for this book, I realize that many of them are negative. They imediatly turn you off from the book. I sopose there are some people who do not like them, but please read the book for yourself and then decide. Do not let the negative reviews influence you. The books are inspiring, touching, and simply amazing.
This praticular book is about two friends fighting for their lives because of failing hearts. When both are called into the hospital, only one will be choosen to recieve the heart that is being donated. Booth friends want the heart to be given to eachother, but it will only be given to one, and the other will die.
I have read almost all her other books, and I have never gotten bored, or thought the plot was the same, or the book was predictable. Please try her books before you decide you don't like them, and don't let negative reviews influence you're desision. You'll find her books are truly amazing.
Fabulous.......2001-12-03
Another addition to the story of friends Lacey, Chelsea, Amanda, Jillian and Katie, its a must-read. Chelsea is on the beeper for a heart transplant, and staying with Katie's family. Katie's success with a heart transplant gives Chelsea hope, but after living with a heart disease her entire life, Chelsea is getting sicker each day. At a class for hopeful tranplant receipiants, Chelsea meets Jillian, a sassy, up-beat red-head with a Texan twang and a rich father. Jillian is not only in need of a heart, but a 'pair of lungs.' Jillian and Chelsea can relate, and become instant friends. But one night both girls' beepers go... but there's only one heart, and two lungs. Do the doctors save three people, or one?

Three Great Mrs. Murphy Mysteries!.......2006-06-29
In the 4th book in the Mrs. Murphy and Tucker mystery series, Pay Dirt, a mysterious stranger has ridden into the sleepy town of Crozet, Virginia. Rumbling in on a motorcycle, the appearance of the man yelling for "Malibu" startles the small town, and they try to insist to the man that no woman by that name resides in the area. Even though the residents of Crozet are curious, they have other things on their minds. The town is worried about a computer virus, Threadneedle that is supposed to hit businesses on August 1st. When a huge sum of money goes missing from the local bank, everyone assumes that the bank has fallen victim to the computer virus. Everyone scrambles at the bank to locate the missing funds, and when the biker is found murdered, pieces of the puzzle start to fall together. And when Harry and her two famous animal sleuths get involved in the case, you can be sure that she will find and apprehend the culprit.
The 5th installment, Murder She Meowed, Mrs. Murphy and Tucker Mystery are going to the races. Mary Minor Haristeen (aka Harry) has been asked to be a fence judge for the Montpelier steeplechase race, and being a huge fan of the sport, she readily agrees. She is a witness to a violent confrontation between two jockeys, and when one of the jockeys is found dead later in the day, she quickly begins to suspect that this was not a simple misunderstanding. The murderer leaves a calling card, and when another jockey turns up dead with a similar card attached to the body, Harry fears that there may be at least two more victims. Along with help from Mrs. Murphy (a tiger cat), Tee Tucker (a Welsh corgi), Pewter (a fat grey cat), and some new animal characters (including mice, several cats, and horses), Harry is able to stop this murderous spree in the competitive world of steeplechase.
In the 6th book in the Mrs. Murphy and Tucker Mystery series, Murder on the Prowl, the little town of Crozet, Virginia is shaken by the appearance of an obituary in the local paper. On its own, it wouldn't be shocking, as people unfortunately pass on each day. However, this obituary is of the headmaster at St. Elizabeth's prep school, and everyone is shocked by his sudden "death". Thankfully, the obit turns out to be false and is found to be a school age prank, and the town quickly returns to normal. That is...until one more false obituary of another prominent citizen appears, and the boy who placed the first bogus obituary swears he had nothing to do with this one. Then, one of the men is murdered, shaking the small town and its citizens. Mary Minor Haristeen (aka Harry) is the postmistress of the town, and has solved a few cases in the past with the help of her irrepressible feline companion, Mrs. Murphy, a tiger cat, and her canine companion, Tee Tucker, a Welsh corgi. Adding to that mix is Pewter, a large grey cat who is spending more time away from her former home at the market, to enjoy time with Murphy and Tucker. The four friends jump in to solve a murder, and find themselves fighting for their lives against a killer out for blood.
This is a great series! The animals talk to one another, and feel that they are superior to humans because we do not speak "cat" or "dog". For some readers, it does take a little bit of time to get used to the communication between the animals, but it is well worth it. I love the way that the residents of the town interact with one another, and this is as much of a draw to the books as is the mystery. I am often guessing until the end as to how the mystery will be resolved, and I am also curious to see how the animals will help in solving the case. This series makes me wish I could pack up and visit Crozet on my next vacation.
If you enjoy "The Cat Who" mysteries by Lilian Jackson Braun, you might want to give this series a try.
The first book in the series is called "Wish You Were Here". Enjoy!

Cathy Kelly writes consistantly well........2007-03-13
Whenever I pick up a Cathy Kelly book I have high expectations for it. This one does not disappoint. It covers the lives of two interesting women and it grabs you from the first moment you start reading. Dee has a problem with her image. She can't see what everyone else can and that she has a curvy va va voom body, instead she feels fat and unatractive. Isabel's marriage has just ended and she is finding it hard going with a useless soon to be ex husband. Do yourself a favour and read this one.

This book explores the terrain of motherhood with refreshing wit and honesty. It has literally brought me back from the edge a couple of times! Retreat to it when you need to connect with the wisdom of other parents--the struggles and challenges as well as the joy and rewards. A must for every mother.
Book Description
Relationship columnist and all-around stand-up guy Gregory Gilderman has come to a startling conclusion: Yes, men want a woman who's sexy and smart. But just as women do, guys also want kindness, affection, and support.
- Don't torment his jealous mind
- Don't destroy him when you argue
- Make him feel like he's a success (even if you're not sure)
- Be nice to his mom (even if she's the devil)
Including a chapter on sex that alone is worth the price of admission, this is the book for anyone who's been on one too many dates and is ready to find the One.
Customer Reviews:
very entertaining with lots of TRUTH!.......2007-08-07
I picked up this book recently on a whim...the cover caught my attention as my boyfriend and I have often joked about our toothbrushes having a "relationship" in his bathroom cabinet. At any rate, I am sooo glad I picked it up because 1) it is totally hilarious and 2) there is actually some "useable" truth to this book (as opposed to some relationship books that are just "out there"). I have laughed so hard at this book....and I can only say that I wish I knew Dr. Greg in person--he seems like an old (and infinitely wise) friend. I have been divorced for a while and been dating my current boyfriend about 8 months--so much good advice that I felt was appropriate to my age (37) but could also appeal to younger readers. i've been out of the dating game for about 15 years so it was refreshing to read some guy's insight that didn't seem contrived. I even emailed Greg to tell him how much we were both enjoying his book....he responded within a day. GO GET THIS BOOK!!!!
The antidote to He's Just Not That Into You.......2007-03-03
Written in an appealing, mildly self-deprecating tone, author Greg Gilderman writes with a level of self-reflection and honesty rare in relationship books, and, it's to the benefit of all straight women, especially those who never questioned the dating dogma that men are actually all martians.
"She's The One" is smart, entertaining and insightful. It is the self-help antidote to "He's Just Not That Into You," a book which, one comes to understand, has had the effect of convincing millions of women that any flawed relationship they've ever been in was devoid of genuine emotion. Men, asserts Gilderman, are more vulnerable and sensitive than women realize, and understanding that may be a single woman's most important step towards entering into a happy, lasting relationship.
Men are also more optimistic and romantic than most people assume. Even in today's cynical, self-conscious, cyber-dating landscape, 90 percent have been married at least once by the time they're 40. But to achieve a meaningful relationship, Gilderman advises against using the tips provided by women's magazines -- magazines for which he has written in the past, and apparently doesn't plan to write for again. He mocks their absurd sex tips (e.g. prostate massages: unnecessary and, perhaps, counter-productive), and reveals that beyond establishing chemistry and common interests, landing a good man may be nothing more complicated than being able to display thoughtful affection, understanding and kindness. Funny, real-life interviews and examples illustrate the point.
Much of the advice dispensed herein is down-to-earth common sense that your grandmother could probably tell you, but it is the kind of advice that many women are lacking, nonetheless. This book made me laugh, and made me feel better about what's really going on with the opposite sex.
One hole: Gilderman is for the most part concerned with the first step: commitment, and so does not get on to describing how men think when answering the next, inevitable question: "When are we having babies?" Perhaps, if GG's advice is taken to heart, we can look for the answer in She's the One, Part II.
An amazing book!.......2007-02-14
Thank you Gregory Gilderman. You have managed to write a book that makes sense of the confusing world of dating and relationships. I read this book in one day as I could not put it down. It made me smile and I've found that relationship books usually don't have that effect on me. When finally putting the book down I felt better about myself, men and relationships and realized we are all in this together and if we lighten up a bit we could have a lot more fun with each other.
I have learned more about men in this book, and how they really feel, than I have from any other book I've read. And had a few laughs while doing it, which was a bonus.
This is a book to be shared amongst friends. Enjoy!

Manager of the research library for a Manhattan-based TV station, Deanna Lindsey's life is organized and upwardly mobile with an appropriately compatible male friend. Her safe but sterile world takes a radical turn when she receives a call from the city medical examiner asking her to come to the morgue and identify the body of a woman she hasn't seen in seven years. Much to Deanna's dismay, not only is the body that of her long-absent friend, but the young white woman has appointed Deanna as the guardian of her six-year-old, multiracial daughter.
City fireman Patterson Temple takes one look at the beautiful young black woman at the morgue and classifies her as too proper, classy, upscale, and high-maintenance. He's not convinced that Deanna Lindsey is the best person to take charge of newly-orphaned Jade, currently being cared for by his beloved grandmother. Deanna doesn't welcome his interference, but Patterson is determined to remain involved in Jade and Deanna's life until he's satisfied that a home with Deanna is the best possible solution for the little girl. Patterson never expects to fall in love with the uptight but vulnerable Deanna, and Deanna is stunned to find herself irresistibly drawn to the strength and compassion beneath Patterson's blunt, slightly rough exterior. Both of these wary people will have to learn to trust and open their hearts if they are to find a happy ever after together.
Kitt draws a fascinating picture of the world of the heroine--an educated, proper, urban professional with limited emotional involvements--juxtaposed against the world of the hero--a blue collar fireman with the calloused but clean hands of a working man who is deeply involved in his community. As expected from this talented author, the characters are multidimensional, the urban setting right on target, the conflicts complicated, and the resolutions deeply satisfying. She's the One is quite simply one of the best contemporary romances of the year. --Lois Faye Dyer

BORROWED HIT.......2005-01-26
I have never been attracted to the storylines Ms.Kitt has provided in the past, however this one was loaned to me for my lonely days on maternity bedrest and what great entertainment it turned out to be!
The story moves a little slow in the beginning but it is pure entertainment watching the relationship between Deanna and Patterson bloom.
For a quick read try this one..
Though it dragged in spots, this was a good book!.......2004-02-16
I enjoyed how Deanna and Patterson started out wary of one another then, little by little, they broke down the stero-types and began to appreciate each other and see how much the had in common. There romance built into this beautiful love. I could feel it grow for not just each other but also for Jade - who was adorable. The ending was kind of quick, throwing in the "Nancy" thing seemed a bit much and I don't understand why the writer made being a fireman sound as if it's scrapping the bottom of the barrel and something to be ashamed of but otherwise, it was a good book.
...great storytelling...!.......2002-11-16
This was my first Sandra Kitt romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her writing flowed with the smoothness of an experienced story teller with no bothersome errors or strange plot twists. The 2 main characters, Deanna and Patterson are mature, introspective individuals and the journey through their relationship as it grows from friendship to love is great reading. The child's dialogue (Jade) was well written and believable as well. I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Kitt's work.

For a great read -- Ms. Kitt is the One!.......2002-09-19
This is one of my favorite books by Ms. Kitt. It was believable, warm and endearing. The main characters were strong and the little girl, adorable. Although the main character and her mother were estranged at the beginning of the book, her mother is there when she needs her the most. It's a book about trust, hope and a belief that "nice guys don't always finish last!" Another great read from Ms. Kitt!
Simply Great!.......2001-09-03
I purchased this book on the fly and I must say this book was one of the best purchases I've ever made. The characters were strong, honest, and so believable. This is my first encounter with Sandra Kitt and I promise I will continue reading books by Ms. Kitt. Her writing appears to be well researched, credible and simply enjoyable. I couldn't put this book down. The main characters, Deanna and Patterson, progressed into love. Deanna's relationship with Jade was a testament of how love and family can change a person's life almost instantaneously.
