5 out of 5 stars Excellent book.......2007-09-17

I have passed my SCJP exam! The book was really helpful to either extend my java knowledge and helped me to passed the exam. I have spent about two months to prepare the exam and read this book about 3 times. Make sure you understand all the questions from inside out at the end of each chapter. I only used this book as my studying material (you would think that's risky, isn't it?) But it did work, although I did grabbed a few mock up exam from internet. But I didn't have much time to do those mock-ups, otherwise i may can do better in the exam. I got 88%.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent! Rare book!.......2007-09-11

The book is written with such clarity, precision and humor that are rarely seen in the IT education. The authors have done fantastic job at presenting complex material in an easy yet concise fashion.

5 out of 5 stars Great SCJP book!.......2007-09-06

This book has a very light language and go deep in Java language. I recommend it if you really want to be a Java 5 certified!

5 out of 5 stars The best SCJP book.......2007-09-01

This is a 'must read' for everyone who intent to apply for the SCJP.
Worths the price.

5 out of 5 stars Good for passing in the exam.......2007-08-22

As it proposes, you will be able to pass in the SCJP 5 exam if you decide to get this book.
A good book with a lot of exercises.
There are some error in the key section of two or three chapters. The mock exam is good as well but has some errors as the key section.

Well, I could pass in the exame with 86% of scoring.
I only got 10 questions answered on a wrong way of 72 questions.

Sorry for the poor English but I'm Brazilian.

I wish you all the best.
Good luck!

4 out of 5 stars A great overview.......2007-07-30

This book has consistently been one of the most accessible overviews of the CCNA material. I have been using these books since the 3rd edition and I have yet to be disappointed. Although the book may not go into as much depth as some of the other books on the market, it presents the ideas in a very clear language. If you are looking to get a good idea of how IP networks are put together and a basic introduciton to configuring cisco routers, this book will be a huge help.

5 out of 5 stars Todd Lamle Rocks.......2007-07-15

I am preparing for my CCNA and I am so happy to have this book to prep me for my Exams.
Todd knows exactly how to dissect the difficult topics. I've been putting off taking the exam for 4 years now. With this book I've got the confidence and knowledge I need to ace it!

Thank you Todd

4 out of 5 stars Great to begin with.......2007-05-24

My advice would be to start with this book first, then move onto CCNA Cisco press. Todd Lammle wrote this book as if you where setting in a class and learning from an instructor, some of the basic information that you need to know for exam will be covered in his text that can be easily be pick up by using his book. The only problem with this book is that he doesn't cover everything on the exam; as stated by the other reviewer. Cisco press is going to give you everything you need; but with dry content. The Cisco press content is not that bad if you start off with Sybex.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2007-05-07

There isn't much more I can say about this book than has already been said. I used Todd's guide to help me pass the CCNA in 2000 and am using him again to recertify. Just an excellent book. Period.

3 out of 5 stars Behind the Times........2007-04-10

Five years ago, I took a course on the CCNA exam, and the Sybex book was the standard course material. The Cisco books at that time were overly wordy, dry, and difficult to learn from. This seems to be the major reason Sybex became the textbook of choice for Cisco material. I had good success with that book and passed the test on the first try with little complications.

Then, a few months ago, I decided to go back and tackle the new CCNA exam and get certified again. Naturally, I went back to Sybex and bought this book. After a month of study, I felt I had fully grasped all the concepts in the book and began taking practice tests in preparation for the 640-801 exam. I was disappointed to find that I was repeatedly failing the practice tests. I spent some time reviewing and slowly came to realize that there are a variety of topics you will face on the new CCNA exams that aren't favored enough in the Sybex book. Frustrated, I went and picked up the Cisco Press: Official Exam Certification Library, which consists of the "CCNA Intro" and "CCNA ICND" books. I thought at first that having two books for this material was overkill. After several weeks of reading through these books, I am startled at how much raw content is in these two books that is directly relevant to the test. Even more obvious is how basic the Sybex course material is in comparison.

My personal experience is this: Cisco seems to have toughened up their exams quite a bit since they switched to the new CCNA exam, and Sybex doesn't seem to have kept up with this. Considering Sybex has also tried to squeeze the entire CCNP course material into a single book, when Cisco has four separate books for the same material, I'm not surprised that the CCNA book feels compressed. In particular, the areas I'm finding the biggest gaps between the two are as follows:

Cat 2950 Switch configuration - This is kept to a minimum in the Sybex book and only the most basic commands are offered.

General Routing Troubleshooting - A big theme in the practice tests I have taken thus far is the ability to properly troubleshoot various router setups. While the Sybex book gives you all the basic show commands and gives a very straightforward configuration for each topic, it simply isn't enough. There should have been several chapters dedicated purely to troubleshooting. The Cisco material did not provide dedicated chapters to troubleshooting either, but they take much longer to explain the topics than Sybex did.

Various Miscellaneous Topics - There are a variety of commands, terms, and concepts that I never saw until I started taking practice tests and picked up the Cisco Press CCNA Flash Cards book.

In closing, I will say that I like the way Todd Lammle writes. He is very easy to understand and Chapter 3 of this book (which covers IP subnetting) is a very well written chapter. This book is by no means "bad". It just isn't enough to pass the exam on it's own. If you have yet to purchase any material for the CCNA, I strongly recommend you spend the extra ten dollars and pick up the Official Exam Certification Library from Cisco Press. While it may be a little more difficult to read, it will be worth it when you go to take your test.

5 out of 5 stars Good coaching........2007-09-23

I passed OCA exam thanks to this book and with a little help of SelfTest software.
Very good writing. Authors definitely know the subject practically.
It is a good reading on Oracle RDBMS internals. And more entertaining than the Oracle Concepts Guide.
Again - their writing style is excellent, they do not over-complicate things and manage to explain complicated subjects simply and clearly.
I wish they wrote something on efficient oracle design :).

5 out of 5 stars Good OCP guide.......2007-05-12

This book is very good not just for clearing OCP but also reference for novice as well as experienced DBAs . The authors have covered the exam syllabus very concisely without leaving anything yet keeping the volume to a minimum .
However for the part 2 exam , one might have to read oracle manuals thoroughly especially for resource management and scheduler concepts .
The pratice test CD that comes with the book is very helpful.

5 out of 5 stars A great book for certification.......2007-05-12

As i saw, before buying this book, it's an excellent and complete reading for those interested in acomplish the certification. Don't forget to do all of the exercises!

Good reading

4 out of 5 stars Easy to follow, a lot of examples and self-tests.......2007-03-11

It is an excellent opportunity to get ready for the exam. Even if you are not familiar with the RDBMS concepts, this book will help you to get ready for your OCP. A lot of examples and exercises in a book easy to read is complemented with a set of self-test exams in the CD ROM making this the complete tool to get your OCP.

I am currently enrolled in CCCCD for Oracle Database Management. This book is very thorough and helpful in understanding what I need to know to reach my goal of certification. It is easy to read and understand.

2 out of 5 stars Boring to read, mediocre test questions, lowers confidence. .......2007-07-10

I started PMP study reading this book. It is almost as boring (and lengthy) to read as the PMBOK, endless repeats on what the inputs and outputs are. The test exams at the end of each chapter are frustrating - and the given answers often still leave you puzzled.
I changed to Rita Mulcahy's book - which was a MUCH easier read with a lot more practical and useful information. She also doesn't focus much on memorization, but understanding. The sample questions are very good and the answers give you a very good understanding.
After successfully passing mock exams, I tried the mock exam included on the CD with the KIM Heldman book. The questions were very lengthy and difficult to read (worse than the real PMP exam) and I didn't manage to get a good score on this mock exam - which was really bad for my confidence close to the exam. I decided to not look at it anymore and I passed the exam.

4 out of 5 stars Good organization, beware of errors.......2006-11-17

I agree with the review by Albert, that there are numerous errors. The coverage mentioned in the title page of every chapter, leaves out some important topics covered within.

I would recommend this book to be read after attending a Instructor-led Training course, reading the PMBOK once, and reading Rita's book. Having such background will help to know the errors immediately.

On the positive side, this book is a good approach to organize the knowledge areas and process in a logical - real life order. The ongoing Kitchen Heaven Store project example provides a welcome break and a real-life manifestation of concepts.

Add to this, the sample exams and end of chapter summaries. I'll rate this 4-star and a good value for the money spent.

2 out of 5 stars Too many errors, poor format, index lacking.......2006-08-14

I am studying for the PMP and have NOT sat for the test yet. I read this book (cover to cover), read the PMBOK-2005, and another book called 'PMP in Depth' (P. Sanghera).
I do not recommend the Sanghera book either (see my review on that book) but my comments on this book are this:
First, are the many blantant errors. Here are three examples of the many I found.
A) On page 191 it says "Interviewing" is not an official tool and technique of the Risk Identification process. This is not true (see PMBOK 11.2.2.2).
B)On page 254 it says that Activity Resource Estimating is an input to a process called "Human Activity Resource Estimating." This process does not exist in the PMBOK. The correct process is "Human Resource Planning." Further, this element is an input to two other processes not mentioned.
C) On page 263 it says Resource Limitations are NOT taken into consideration when conducting Schedule Network Analysis. The PMBOK (6.5.2.1) says that resource leveling is part of this tool and technique.
There are many other errors in this book (too numerous to mention here).
Second, the practice test questions are also riddled with errors. The danger in this kind of error is that the questions are tricky enough without putting the questions themselves into question.
Third, for me, the format of this book is not well suited to the way I learn (a personal point).
And fourth, the index is frustrating. Virtually all of the process inputs and outputs, and many of the tools & techniques, are missing -- it is structured for looking up process names.
On the positive side, I like the end of chapter summaries.

5 out of 5 stars Best Reading to Pass PMP Exam.......2006-06-14

I bought and borrowed many books to study for the PMP exam and this was the BEST book, both in the material it covered and the way in which the material was presented. It is one of the few that take your through the project management process as you would really experience it, from project inception to closeout. Most other books geared toward the PMP exam organize the material based on the PMI knowledge areas, which have so much overlap it becomes confusing. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. I passed the exam using this book and the quizes in Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep, which follows the knowlege areas.

5 out of 5 stars Network textbook.......2006-10-10

This is a great book for learning the CCNA material. It will teach you all of the major points that you need to study to pass the exam. Even if you are not taking the exam and just want information on how networks are designed, this is the book. I found it a good read and the practice CD was priceless in learning how to issue commands to the various Cisco routers. A great book and worth the money too!!!

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing and frustrating.......2005-12-05

For the last 3 years I would have sworn by Todd Lammle's CCNA Study Guides; mainly do to his free-hearted writing style that seem to add an element of humor to complex reads. However, this book has far too many errors and lacked technical intensity. In the past, I used Todd's 607 Study Guide to pass the archived 607 exam on the first try. Two and half years later, I purchased the 801 Study Guide with the same enthusiasm. After reading this book twice, taking all 8 bonus exams repeatedly, and exhausting the capabilities of the simulation software, I took the comprehensive 801 exam this weekend and did not pass! My exam had multiple questions that were not covered in Lammle's book. Not to mention the lack of coverage of NAT, that seems to magically show up on my exam. None of which was covered with enough detail within this book. Moreover, the Virtual Lab was not exhaustive and far too basic (No OSPF, EIGRP or NAT simulation capabilities). In my opinion, this is not acceptable. Especially when I was faced with these topics through out my exam. I wish this book did a better job of pinpointing the areas that were and would be crucial on the exam. Although Todd Lammle attempted to do place emphasis on certain points, none of those points showed up on test day. Obviously, Cisco has made the exam harder to achieve by reading materials alone (even there own text). Therefore, accurate and thought-provoking supplemental materials are a must!!The bonus questions simply repeat themselves over-and-over again. The book as a whole lacked coverage on crucial technologies and is filled with confusing statements and answers that turn out to be mistakes- Go figure! All of which, led me to give this book 3 stars (maybe closer to 2 1/2).

2 out of 5 stars big disapointment...........2005-11-18

Mr. Lammle is still an excellent teacher/writer (the best), but the omission of some crucial material is a setup for test disaster. In particular there is little information on NAT, and zero configuration examples. 4 months ago I recertified on the CCNA and one of the simulation questions was NAT configuration and at least 3 multiple choice were on NAT router commands. I am now tutoring 4 other engineers using this book and we've had to use Cisco Press books to cover NAT and other material that is missing. The Simulator in this book will not do OSPF and EIGRP (both crucial, so we bought Mr. Lammle's routersim from www.routersim.com, this does allow these routing protocols, but VTP doesn't work correctly with the simulator switches. In hindsight I would definitely use Cisco Press now, it doesn't appear that Sybex is keeping up. The Cisco books aren't as well written or real world, but they have everything you need to pass the test.

4 out of 5 stars Well written, Full coverage of all topics except NAT/PAT.......2005-11-10

The author has done a good job in writing the book, which provides detailed explanation of all the topics covered in the exam except for NAT/PAT, which is an important objective of the CCNA exam and you can hardly find one CCNA exam that doesn't test your knowledge in that area.

More enhancements on how OSPF works is needed, since it's not covered clearly in the book.

Other than that the book is enough to pass the test except for the points I discussed previously.

One more thing, the bounce exams found in the study tools CD are very workable, never skip them you may encounter the same questions in the exam. I did!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic book.......2007-04-11

Prior to this book I was reading the Cisco Press CCNA Self-study: CCNA Preparation Library. This book is infinitely better at teaching someone who isn't already familiar with the Cisco world. The Cisco book just seems to present facts, whereas the author of this book seems to truly understand how to teach someone. This book saved me from being eternally lost in subnetting, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

5 out of 5 stars I Passed.......2007-01-03

I like the way the book was written. The material isn't the easiest to get through, but this book makes it digestible. I never used the Lab that is included, but I already had years of experience working with Cisco gear.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing book.......2005-10-12

It is a great book which covers all topics in order to pass the CCNA exam. You have the router and switch simulator to improve and apply your skills.

I definitely recommend you buy this book if you really want to pass, but also to learn about routers and switches.

Good Luck !!

4 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2007-03-28

This book is an excellent read. It's an easy read and helped clarify some important concepts that the ISACA CISA manual could not. I would use this book to reinforce any terms and/or concepts one cannot grasp from the ISACA CISA manual. I passed the exam December 2007.

3 out of 5 stars Questions.......2007-03-08

All topical based questions would have been separated from answers, it doesn't make sense to read the question while the answer is just displayed beneath.

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.......2006-12-10

The actual test and this book are poles apart. The book, practice questions and the simulated test makes you feel like you know what you need to know for the test. But the actual test is a lot different (I would not necessarily say "difficult"), but reading this book is almost a complete waste of time.

2 out of 5 stars Save your money.......2006-12-09

I just came from the CISA course and i really depended on this book, i did extremely well in the book's and CD's exam.
The questions, alerts and cram sheets contain similar points, that makes you believe you can do well just by going through the cram sheet.
the actual exam was extremely different, i was really lost and had to guess allot of answers.
I'm awaiting for my marks, but i don't think i will pass :(

1 out of 5 stars Very Limited.......2006-09-11

Short and simple, this book is a bad buy. It does not provide enough detail to answer the test questions. The test is extremely difficult and this book provides aid for only 10% of the test questions.

The Network+ Study Guide explains all you need to know about computer networking to pass CompTIA's Network+ exam. The book covers the fundamentals of local area networks (LANs), the seven-layer Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) network model, and network operating systems (including NetWare, Windows NT, and to a lesser degree Unix variants). Readers will find considerable coverage of the TCP/IP protocol suite, including some of the utility programs used to configure it locally and remotely. There's also a lot of "softer" material about the duties of a network administrator, good troubleshooting practices, and the issues involved in network security. Organized to match CompTIA's stated objectives for the Network+ exam, this guide will prepare you for that test as well as Microsoft's Networking Essentials exam (70-058).

The presentation style is dense with prose, and tables are inserted where there are options or variations to memorize. More and larger conceptual diagrams would make this book better, since networking concepts are sometimes hard to grasp. There are quite a few stepped procedures though--most of them geared toward networked Windows machines. Each chapter concludes with a selection of multiple-choice review questions, the answers to which appear--without discussion, unfortunately--in an appendix. Additional questions appear in a drill program on the companion CD-ROM. --David Wall

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars mis spellings throughout and very poor grammar.......2007-09-19

When reading the first 100 pages of this book, I spent most of the time trying to correct the poor grammar of the authors. I find that when I am trying to understand the concepts that incorrect grammar, poor sentence construction, and continued run on sentences are a major distraction. Not to mention endless spelling errors made this book a torture to read. I have therefore abandoned this book as a result of this terrible writing. I am disappointed, Mr. Groth wrote the book to my CCNA course, and that was very impressive. Obviously, not one of his best works.

3 out of 5 stars Author needs editor.......2007-09-10

This book may be substantive and very relevant to a certification but it is not well written. Author makes assumptions that the reader is knowledgeable of a subject in one part of the book than explains those concepts in detail later. I found double negatives, senseless sentence structures, and misspelled words throughout the book.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Test Prep.......2007-06-21

I used only this book to study for the CompTIA N10-003 Network + exam. I passed the test on the first try. Questions on the test followed closely the study material presented in the book. Had no trouble using the included virtual lab CD and practice test CD. I am very satisfied with the results from studying using this book.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad, but lacking.......2007-02-03

The book seems a bit basic in that it tries to cover only topics you will see on the exam. Despite that fact, I found that a fair number of questions on the exam were not covered in the book... at least not well enough. If you want to actually get some hands on practice, this is not the book for it. With the exception of a few commands, the book has nothing for you to try out.

The practice tests on the CD are decent. Don't expect to see all the Network+ questions on the CD. Some explanations for wrong answers are helpful, others are trivial/useless.

If you plan to take the Network+ exam this book should work for you if you already have a fair amount of networking knowledge and/or you use it in addition to another book to supplement what's not covered.

4 out of 5 stars Good to very good study guide.......2007-01-19

As with any certification test, one should study from several sources. This book provided basic to advanced information and will remain on my shelf for reference.

I did pass the test though, and this book definitely played a big part in that!

Book Description

Since the first edition of this landmark book was published in 1962, Everett Rogers's name has become "virtually synonymous with the study of diffusion of innovations," according to Choice. The second and third editions of Diffusion of Innovations became the standard textbook and reference on diffusion studies. Now, in the fourth edition, Rogers presents the culmination of more than thirty years of research that will set a new standard for analysis and inquiry.

The fourth edition is (1) a revision of the theoretical framework and the research evidence supporting this model of diffusion, and (2) a new intellectual venture, in that new concepts and new theoretical viewpoints are introduced. This edition differs from its predecessors in that it takes a much more critical stance in its review and synthesis of 5,000 diffusion publications. During the past thirty years or so, diffusion research has grown to be widely recognized, applied and admired, but it has also been subjected to both constructive and destructive criticism. This criticism is due in large part to the stereotyped and limited ways in which many diffusion scholars have defined the scope and method of their field of study. Rogers analyzes the limitations of previous diffusion studies, showing, for example, that the convergence model, by which participants create and share information to reach a mutual understanding, more accurately describes diffusion in most cases than the linear model.

Rogers provides an entirely new set of case examples, from the Balinese Water Temple to Nintendo videogames, that beautifully illustrate his expansive research, as well as a completely revised bibliography covering all relevant diffusion scholarship in the past decade. Most important, he discusses recent research and current topics, including social marketing, forecasting the rate of adoption, technology transfer, and more. This all-inclusive work will be essential reading for scholars and students in the fields of communications, marketing, geography, economic development, political science, sociology, and other related fields for generations to come.

Download Description

"Now in its fifth edition, Diffusion of Innovations is a classic work on the spread of new ideas. It has sold 30,000 copies in each edition and will continue to reach a huge academic audience. In this renowned book, Everett M. Rogers, professor and chair of the Department of Communication & Journalism at the University of New Mexico, explains how new ideas spread via communication channels over time. Such innovations are initially perceived as uncertain and even risky. To overcome this uncertainty, most people seek out others like themselves who have already adopted the new idea. Thus the diffusion process consists of a few individuals who first adopt an innovation, then spread the word among their circle of acquaintances--a process which typically takes months or years. But there are exceptions: use of the Internet in the 1990s, for example, may have spread more rapidly than any other innovation in the history of humankind. Furthermore, the Internet is changing the very nature of diffusion by decreasing the importance of physical distance between people. The fifth edition addresses the spread of the Internet, and how it has transformed the way human beings communicate and adopt new ideas."

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Interesting.......2007-09-12

This book is fascinating. It discusses the spread of ideas and products through communities, how they spread and why. Rogers breaks down the process and describes different categories of people depending on when they take up the innovation. This book is very readable, and although written by an academic, not written in academese. It covers various domains of interest (agriculture, sociology, marketing) and has something for everyone.

The one thing I think Rogers has missed is subjective norm. Not only do people weigh the relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability, but they also weigh up what they believe their personal network believes what they should do.

For instance, I will do something that someone important (to me)tells me to do, even if I personally find it silly, simply because I put enough weight and consideration into what I believe is their opinion.

Rogers gets close to that with the discussion of personal networks and adoption of innovations by organisations, but still misses the point. That is why this book only gets four stars, from me.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2007-08-10

Very insightful. A must read for a variety of academic disciplines. I don't know that I've been in a professor's office at my university and not seen this book on the shelf!

5 out of 5 stars Diffusion of Innovations--The scientific framework of lessons learned.......2007-06-12

As a physician who has had the pleasure to experience life-changing innovations in his medical career, the chance to read Dr Rogers book on Innovation has been a real delight. Technology has changed so much around us in the last half of the 20th century that we can scarcely describe what life was like before "the innovation".

To my friends who happen to be innovators, early adaptors, beta testers and entrepreneurs, I recommend the book to provide the scientific disicpline with its glossary, case reports, primary scientific citations and organization of innovation theory that ones needs if one is in an "innovation" field and wishes to communicate professionally.

To the casual reader who is fascinated by the world around him/her and wishes to explore innovation scientifically, then this should be considered the "primer".

4 out of 5 stars A textbook in disquise..........2007-02-15

This is a textbook in disquise. The information is good, but could be summarized better and in a more consise manner.

Good reference material...

5 out of 5 stars most excellent piece of work on diffusion of innovation.......2006-12-26

There are several well written books on innovation but this is one of the most excellent piece of work on diffusion of innovation. Though if we look at history, research on the diffusion of innovations model began with the Bryce and Gross' (1943) investigation of the diffusion of hybrid seed corn among Iowa farmers. They explained how it came to attention and which of two channels (i.e., mass communication and interpersonal communication with peers) led farmers to adopt the new innovation.

But Rogers has further discussed the five characteristics of a technology acceptance - 1) relative advantage, the extent to which it offers improvements over available tools, 2) compatibility, its consistency with social practices and norms among its users, 3) complexity, its ease of use or learning, 4) trialability, the opportunity to try an innovation before committing to use it, 5) observability, the extent to which the technology's gains are clear to see.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Take your time.......2007-09-10

One chapter at a time. I recommend that you read the quizes then the chapter to find key points easier. Great study material! Sybex is always the way to go.

5 out of 5 stars Informative.......2007-07-12

The book is quite informative and up-to-date. It covers all new A+ examination areas (really comprehensive). The bundled stuffs are very helpful too. It comes with lots of practice exams. The electronic flashcards are handy and refreshing. With the bundled compact disc, you can read your book anywhere, anytime with any portable device that support .pdf file format. Good book.

4 out of 5 stars Thank God..........2007-06-24

Finally an A+ book that doesn't drown itself in tech terms without actually explaining what it is they are trying to convey. This is as user-friendly as one could hope to get in a study guide. It doesn't go over one's head, if it the subject matter does the author brings it down to earth.

The companion CD is pretty good as well, offering the whole book in .pdf form for downloading on one's iPod or PDA.

4 out of 5 stars A+ Complete Study Guide - Sybex.......2007-05-17

To begin the book is well organized and well written. The flow of the book is easy to understand, and easy to take notes from. The CD-Rom includes an electronic copy of the book (which in my opinion is something that all paper copies should come with these days) which is very helpful for working professionals whom commute.

Cons: Unfortunately the book will miss a thing here or there as it relates directly to the exam itself. As an example: You will find that the study questions, while good at reinforcing the material you just read, do not line up with the flow, format or difficulty of the actual exam questions. They are really there to cement what you've just read and reinforce that to you.

Another example is the Professionalism and Communications section does not go over enough material in detail. It rather uses broad terms and concepts to go over that particular domain.

Conclusion: I feel this is a very good primary study guide. I would recommend however that you use supliments to your studying such as Transcender exams to help prep you for the actual testing enviornment as well as the Exam Cram book to compliment and really drive home the material.

The book is definately worth the purchase and you will be 75%-80% read to take the exam after completetion of studying.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent exam preparation.......2007-05-14

This book does cover A+ exam objectives, moreover the chapters are arranged well according to the objective which made me feel easier to find the topic of interest or the topic that i need to study further.

With the chapters arranged and written according to compTIA objectives, I found it easier to review what I should study more after I take the test, since the test result will give you explanation in which area you need to review.

As I was an experience technician, I did feel it easy to follow and understand this book and pass the exam just by using this book, but i think this book lacks in the troubleshooting area. The author does give you quite a lot of troubleshooting example from his experience, but ff the author can give a lot more real world example of problems and solutions, i think this book will be perfect for exam preparation as well as on the job reference.
