The facilitator's Bible: cultivating and creating........2004-12-11
Finally, a book that is easy to follow, addresses the most common problems encountered by facilitators, and offers practical advice to both novice and pro alike in creating effective group work. Eller gives tips on how to manage difficult individuals with everyday gestures and postures and ways to diffuse a tense environment. Every chapter from "What am I getting into" to "Reaching Peak Performance: connecting their minds" and more is well-designed and deals with every complexity and situation imaginable for those involved in education. Whether you are looking for strategies to enhance the environment that the group will meet in or ways to make sure that the task at hand is not forgotten, this book contains ideas and contemporary models to put the facilitator's mind at ease and allow the team members to focus on the agenda, not petty problems. In addition, the author introduces in chapter seven a concise and clear path to attain the desired goal and does so in a manner that proves to be innovative and stimulating. Most of the books on the shelf that offer the reader suggestions tend to be rather dry and boring or use techniques and situations that haven't occured in many decades. Poignant and refreshing. Mr Eller gets an A+.

Energizing your Marriage.......2007-05-09
We all have busy lives and tend not to broach those important topics very often that deepen our marriages. This book lays out times to build or develop marriage skills and just enjoy one another in a nonthreatening atmosphere. These marriage building times are connected to dating so that makes it even more fun.
Great Book!!! .......2006-06-09
We were looking at new things to do in our marriage to make it a little stronger and just some new ideas. We got this book from our church who offered free child care while we had to read from the book and do that date every week. IT WAS GREAT! Me and my husband enjoyed reading from the book and it has been FUN! SOo if you would like to help the communication and get date ideas then this is the book for you!!! It talks about improving and/or keeping your marriage alive - it focus on communication but also touches on if you have kids, working, and finding time for your marriage. Overall i would reccommend it to any married couple!
Not what I was expecting.......2004-12-26
Don't buy this book as a gift, unless you want to tell the recipients their marriage is on the rocks.
I got this book as a present for my sister-in-law and her husband, thinking it would be a lighthearted list of FUN ideas for things to do in their new free time. Wrong-o.
This book might be excellent for couples who are really, really fixated with their relationship, but for couples who just want to enjoy each other's company ... keep looking!
Wonderful Ideas.......2002-06-07
There are some really wonderful ideas in this book -- although, in all honesty, some are rather ordinary. Take what is meaningful to you and put it into practice. My wife and I still "date" after 17 years together.
If you are looking for more creative dates I'd recommend you check out 300creativedates. com -- I came across the site and the material was outstanding.
Marriage builder.......2002-01-22
My husband and I have gone thru this book twice. It's so easy to read and fun to put into effect. Who ever said you couldn't have romance AND marriage!?

Customer Reviews:
10 Stars!.......2007-05-08
Oh wow, where do I begin! I love this cookbook and the diet plan! I brushed the dust off my food processor that I have barely used and I use it every day now. I am loosing weigh and loving the process of getting healthier. The only thing I don't use is the alkaline drops. I just don't feel they are for me. LOVE the green gazapacho! I will eat it 4 times a week in spring and summer. I really see what I was missing out on. I absolutely hate cooked veggies and big chunks of veggies, but putting them in the food processor makes them delicious.
It is a totally different way of approaching food.......2007-04-12
I do believe if someone is really sick they would make the supreme effort and eliminate many, many foods and start cooking with these recipes. I am put off by having to make almond milk using a nylon stocking for straining and I do not like the taste of coconut milk but these are used instead of milk in recipes. I have not tried any of the recipes yet so I cannot say either way if they are tasty or not. Maybe a video would be a better way of introducing consumers to this diet. I know the Juicer videos inspired me to try juicing all sorts of vegatables.
Back to the house of health.......2007-01-16
This is a good recipe book. Some items will need to be purchased at a health foods store but the recipes are easy to make.
Back to the House of Health.......2006-07-02
There are many great recipes for people that need some new ideas. They taste fanfastic. Very easy to follow, Kathy, Richland WA
She's DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-05-05
Wow. I LOVED Shelley's Back to the House of Health 1 but now she's DONE IT AGAIN!!! This second one is packed with even more delicious and creative recipes. There are some from Shelley and some from a pH Miracle Recipe contest. The nutritional information was also a welcome addition. This is the way I want to eat for the rest of my life! There's even pudding made from avocados!! Vegan Chili is also a favorite. The incredible pictures of the food and people enjoying the food are also what makes this book a real treasure to have in my healthy kitchen

Energizing is Starbuck's making employees partners, Saturn creating teams that function as independent small businesses, Springfield Remanufacturing's opening its books to all employees.
With case studies, examples, techniques, research highlights, and quotes from business leaders, 1001 WAYS TO ENERGIZE EMPLOYEES is invaluable for managers seeking to increase employee enthusiasm and involvement.
Customer Reviews:
Lots of Stories - Little Organization.......2006-12-31
It's probably unfortunate that I already owned "100 Ways to Motivate Others" before buying this book. I was looking for ways to help appreciate and reward my volunteers with the low budget I had available. I purchased "1001 Ways to Energize Employees" for the same reasons - looking for ways to help my volunteers feel happy and appreciated in their chosen tasks. Unfortunately, the books seem to overlap quite a bit, and in both cases seem to require quite a large cash outlay.
The book is in essence a collection of random ideas from established companies. One company spent $60,000 building a local playground instead of going on a golf outing. That's WAY outside my budget!! They talk about REI losing $1 million by choosing to situate its building closer to where employees live vs where it was good for shipping reasons. Again, way outside my budget. A company in Illinois saved $15 million by cutting out things like its employee picnic. That's nice (I think?) but again, not helpful at all.
There are a few reasonable suggestions in here. Provide employee training. Provide a way to solicit employee suggestions. Provide frequent updates on company health. These are all very common sense and are offered in the intro area of just about every management book I've seen. But in many cases, the items shown are contradictory. One item says "provide positive feedback on what is going on." The next item says "Be honest about what is going on even if it's bad news". Well? Be positively negative?
I suppose the clearest reason for this book's success is the example that they give, that the most enjoyed feature in a FedEx newsletter is where they report on what other mailing companies are doing. By reading this book, you get "secret" news about what other companies are doing. That's always fun in a peering-through-the-keyhole sort of way. But they rarely tell HOW the information was received, just that it was being done. In cases where they say "the employees love it", that can often be the enthusiastic hopes of the PR department that performed the task. It could be that the employees thought the item was completely inane.
It's not that the book was a complete waste of time. It's an enjoyable book to rent from the library, to skim through. It might spur an idea or two from you, out of the 1,001 presented. However, I really would have enjoyed a book that was much more organized, that had much more follow through about the cost involved and the aim of why they did it.
Energy Raising Methods to Counteract Tedium and Staleness.......2006-03-06
Light Reading. This book is purely focused upon the many ways to build initiative, increase autonomy, raise morale and to design a work environment that fosters creativity, commitment and thusly ENERGY. It is not so much revealing a number of ways to do this, but invites a paradigm shift from which you will naturally do the 1001 things. Fun.
Five Stars
A Book For Ideas.......2006-02-19
This book is helpful to have on the bookshelf for anyone looking for new ideas. I did not find that it really treated its subject in any depth.
A must-have for managers and HR folks.......2003-11-04
I'm an HR person myself, and have found this (and the 1001 ways to reward) to be an essential part of my library. Many people want to look through it, borrow it... some have kept it, so this is probably my fifth version of the book that I've bought! Try to put your name all over the book so they don't forget it's yours.
A fast how-to book on energizing teams... lacks depth.......2003-10-09
If you are looking to truly turn around your company or department, this is not the book for you. When does this book come in handy? If you are seeking for quick ideas to energize your team, and are short on inspiration: that is where it's a very comprehensive source. But be realistic: true energizing and change is a process that can't be bought with treats or gifts, but rather built through trust and open communication, among other things. If you want to really energize your team, then be ready for a longterm commitment from your part, that will go beyond just getting them perks or giving them awards.

Lots of ideas.......2007-07-20
Good book, you should be able to pick up at least 3-6 ideas that will work for your business.
Buy the condensed Version.......2007-04-11
its been a LONG while since I had a Guerilla marketing book so but both Guerrilla marketing and this one.
Save yourself some cash-just get this one. They are basically teh SAME book, except this one leaves out the anecdotes and just gives you the facts. If you have both and you can compare them and they are word for word the same....
Crazy...but I guess thats one way to make money = rehash and remarket..........
Good book but nothing new here.......2007-01-19
It's worth reading to remind us of things we may already know.
Another god GM book.......2007-01-09
This is more good stuff by Jay. He's expounding on his 100 GM Weapons, a list of which is available at his website and in some of his other materials. Some of it is just a re-hash of the other GM books, but some is new and can be put into practice immediately and for no $$$ at all. A good refresher if you're in a slump.
Very Informative and worth the wait.......2006-03-17
I was very surprised to learn that there are many free ways to promote your business online. This is a must have resource for all business owners to use. I would recommend this book to all of my friends.

Reflecting Dr. Rob Young's philosophy of promoting an alkaline environment in the body, Shelly Young's attractive and comprehensive recipe book features over 100 delicious recipes that do just that. From AsparaZincGusto Soup to Popeye Mousse Pie, these recipes can help anyone become "alkalized."
Customer Reviews:
Well done!.......2007-04-19
This book has become one of my favorite kitchen books. Throughout it thinks of the reader, beginning with being spiral bound. The book has a comprehensive index, glossary of terms, tables such as "Sprouting Guide", beautiful photos/print, helpful lists such as "Recipe Title by Nutritional Category" and "Recipe Titles by Alphabetical Order", comprehensive "Getting Started: The Proper Tools" section (such as salad spinner, chopper, Vita-Mix), a "Let's Go Shopping section that includes a comprehensive "Ingredients" guide, and "Resources" for suggested ingredients, to mention a few!
I especially appreciated "Shelley's Shortcuts" where I could get a head-start on the daunting task of food preparation following her twelve suggestions such as to "keep lemons and limes on hand" and which items to keep on hand in the freezer.
That said, it is HARD to eat mainly the foods listed in "Foods You Can Eat Freely" or "Foods You Can Eat Sparingly." I found many of my favorite foods missing and found them instead on the list "Foods You Should Never Eat" such as "chocolate" (gasp), "whole grain bread," and my favorite "tea!"
I accepted the author's "Invitation to Change," by using "phasing" and am following the step-by-step "transition" guide. The author graciously mentions "It took over a year for us to phase milk, risen bread, and meat out of our kitchen." I believe it may take longer for me to phase out my favorites.
Thanks to the authors - well done!
Great Reference Book.......2007-02-24
What a great book. I have applied a great deal of the Alkalizing Lifestyle to my everyday life. it is a transition and Shelley explains this before even sharing one recipie or method. I would like to see a book with more preperation and method for less experienced and for folks that are not as, let's say, daring in the preperation of food.
What kept me from taking this step in the past was the cost. Well I was not only misled but also misunderstood how economicle it is to take this step into a health and cleaner life path. Hope many take this step... I was extreamly overweight, (still overweight but naturally losing lbs by simply eating right!) and now I'm on a path to my natural body weight.
Oh, let's not forget EXERCISE! very important... not talk'n olympic stuff. just a simple exercise reg... Thanks Shelley (and Robert) for the tools I needed to get right with my life (@ 50 Years old, I'm finally getting healthy...)
Be Well,
Peace..
Back to the House of Health.......2007-01-12
Excellent source of healthy diet information. That is to say a great resource for those of us seriously involved in our health as opposed to those to whom any information seems valid.
alkalizing tips.......2007-01-10
I found Shelly's book to be very helpful for getting started with alkalizing recipes, also a list of ingredients that I needed to have, more importantly what I shouldn't be eating! The pictures of the foods help alot too, to make sure you are following the recipes and also make it look good to the eye! I recommend this and any other information that you can find on alkalizing your body!
Back to the House of Health 2.......2006-07-02
The author has come up with many great recipes to help you alkalize and energize. I found the recipes easy to follow.
Product Description
In this provocative book, Scott Shay takes on the major obstacles facing American Jewry today. He examines the current state and future prospects of American Jewry and finds a Jewish community that is dangerously adrift and on an overall downward trajectory, due to a community-wide lack of shared purpose, focus, and mutual concern. To counter this downward spiral, the author presents a platform of ten practical and achievable mini-manifestos that can reinvigorate American Jewry as a whole. Casting away conventional wisdom and political correctness, this book carefully brings to bear extensive research as it deals with the most controversial and essential issues facing American Jews.

A hardcore guide to strengthening the cultural identity and influence of the Jewish tradition.......2007-08-07
Written by Scott A. Shay, Chair of UJA-Federation of New York's Commission on Jewish Identity and Renewal, Getting Our Groove Back: How to Energize American Jewry is a straight-on look at the numerous obstacles confronting American Jewry today. Chapters question whether Hebrew schools can ever be made to effectively transmit Jewish identity, why Jews are giving less to Jewish causes and what can be done about it, to the modern erosion. of the American Jewish population due to intermarriages without conversion and declining overall birthrates. "In my view, if we accept zero population growth as desirable - which not all people do - Jews should be exempt from this concern. Contrary to other populations across the world that have grown exponentially, the Jewish population has declined in the past fifty years. Jews still have a great deal of catching up to do, whether it be to restore the population lost during the Holocaust or simply to reach numbers proportionate to the level of population growth internationally and in America." Getting Our Groove Back also stresses that the state of Israel is utterly important to the Jewish identity, and encourages trips to Israel for all Jewish teenagers. A hardcore guide to strengthening the cultural identity and influence of the Jewish tradition among American Jews of all branches of Judaism.
A Fantastic Call to Action.......2007-07-25
This book is a fantastic call to action. Mr. Shay has clearly done his research and used his qualified experiences and level-headedness to lay out convincing and practical solutions to the crisis that faces American Jewry. His dedication to American Jewry is refreshing and his optimism is inspiring. Because Mr. Shay writes to the point, the book is not dense and can easily be read by any individual regardless of education or religious experience. As a 23 year old recent college graduate, I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in seeing the amazing tradition, culture, and religion that has helped shape the lives of great Americans continue to shape the lives of others in the future.
Getting our Groove Back: How To Energize American Jewry.......2007-06-04
Scott Shay's book, Getting our Groove Back: How To Energize American Jewry, is masterful. Mr Shay has applied his keen, scientific, problem-solving mind to important issues facing Judaism.
Jewish community problems are discussed with reference to today's best sociological research. Mr. Shay presents thoughtful, forward-thinking answers to help the Jewish community solve its issues.
Practical solutions are Scott Shay's contribution to the Jewish community.
Anybody who is serious about improvement and change within Judaism must read this thought-provoking, creative book.
breath of fresh air!.......2007-05-14
I was intrigued by a review in the Jewish Week and devoured the book. I've since bought copies for the Rabbi and President of my Conservative Synagogue... bought more copies to give to our Seder guests.. Shay brings a thoroughly refreshing perspective on both the problems confronting American Jewry as well as possible solutions. He is totally non-partisan or denominational. His only agenda is securing the future of American Jewry. He's critical of Orthodoxy for assuming that if they are successful they can save us on their own. Shays shows they don't have the critical mass. He's critical of Reform for patroliniar decent and the havoc it creates.. and he's critical of Conservative Judaism for loosing it's position as the largest denomination... if they are loosing members... we all loose. You don't have to buy all his solutions.. but they will certainly make you think. Get the book. Read it. Get copies for agents of change and let's energize American Jewry!
A must read!.......2007-01-26
Finally a book that offers solutions instead of just 'kvetching'!
Scott Shay expertly researches and suggests practical solutions to the challenges facing the American Jewish community today. A MUST read for communal leadership as well as parents and grandparents.

I love this book.. very good for your sorting out who or what you do not
need in your life.
Great Read for the Busy Person.......2006-09-21
This book is a great read for the busy person. Jon Gordon's tips are easy to implement and do help you get the energy you need to blast through your day.
Even though I work with a large number of people, there are many similarities between them. The majority want to feel better and get more energy. Those are number one and number two on the list. Gordon's book supplies anyone with these two needs the answers that work!
When I first picked up the book, I must admit, I thought there couldn't be anything in there that I didn't know myself. After a read or two I was wrong and I started implementing some of the principles for awesome results. (Have you seen me speak live?! If you have, you know what I'm talking about!)
I'm not going to spoil it for Jon here, but Tip # 39 is worth the entire price of the book and more! I let all my clients know about it and it helps them reach optimal health regardless of how busy they are.
Get it and get energized!

This is an excellent price for a great book. I have already started to gain more energy. I saw this book at Jamba Juice for $5 more than what I paid through Amazon and Amazon shipped for free, great choice ,very happy.

The best thing about this book is the format. It is easy to read, digest and take action on! Jon includes action steps for many items so you can incorporate these changes easily into your life and reap the energy benefits. He has combined information from various sources into an easy to read and use guide to increasing your energy. Excellent book!
Better then Ever.......2005-09-25
After hearing Jon speak at a conference and experiencing a session, I was hooked and wanted more. I feel better then I have in a long time, in fact better then ever. My ability to focus has increased. Tasks are being completed in a shorter amount of time. I'm sleeping through the night. All in all, my life is now better then ever!

Pontification At Its Most Verbose.......2007-04-18
The 30 second spot is dead. The 30 second spot is dead! THE 30 SECOND SPOT IS DEAD! Alright, I get it already. At least I did after the first 60 pages or so. Unfortunately this book does not end at 60 pages. Never have so many words been used to say so little.
The first third of this book (plus one chapter online) (parenthesis meant as a tribute to Jaffe) tells you why the 30 second spot is dead. To illustrate the demise of the 30 second spot, Jaffe uses a dead horse and beats it repeatedly.
Perhaps Jaffe is quite funny and clever at a party, but his schtick gets a little old when trudging through 276 pages of his quips (plus one chapter online). Jaffe fashions himself as a modern day Don Rickles, passing out insults to everything and everybody who uses a 30 second spot. Unfortunately, this increases the page count of the book by about 90 pages.
The final two-thirds of the book is a survey of everything you can use instead of the 30 second spot. Jaffe says you have 10 options and he has designed 10 little logos for each of them (which you can see on his website) (again parenthesis meant as a salute to Jaffe). This is not any ground breaking information. If you have been paying attention and made occasional contact with society, you will have realized that you can use the internet as a marketing tool.
Mostly, Jaffe's observations are re-hashes of stuff you can find in a trade journal or two. And because this is an ADWEEK Book, I suspect most of this stuff was available in an ADWEEK article. The important thing about this survey portion of the book is that it gives you very little insight on how to use these tools more effectively. It's just Jaffe telling you that you are ignorant if you are not using his 10 alternatives to the 30 second spot.
Save yourself $20 and get a subscription to Adweek instead.
The best digerati marketing book yet.......2007-02-15
As a crusty old ad guy, I approach most popular, catchy-titled business books with a mix of skepticism and loathing. Not this one. Jaffe captures the basics of integrated marketing techniques in short, interesting prose, along with asides from some industry leaders worth hearing.
Sure, it's the basics, but well done. Don't expect much on how this changes agency profitability models, nor on why so-called "traditional" advertising will remain the primary driver for lots of brands.
The only trouble is that this world is evolving so quickly, this book will be dated inside a year or two. Which merely means you'll need to know everything Jaffe writes about here--and lots more.
Joe Jaffe get's it, the agencies don't. A must read!.......2007-01-16
Joe Jaffe has a real handle on New Marketing, he lives it with his book, blog Jaffe Juice and podcast Across The Sound. He is a true leader in this space and I highly recommend that all marketers read his book, his blog and listen to his podcast.
Jay Berkowitz, CEO, www.TenGoldenRules.com
The Future of Advertising is Now.......2006-06-24
Joseph Jaffe in his first book lays out the case that traditional advertising is broken and need change in large part to the Internet and rise of consumer generated media. The death of the 30 second spot is in large part do consumer rejection and frustration of ever intrusive ads that aren't relevant to them. With consumers now in control of when, where, and how they consume media, advertisers must figure out new ways of reaching them without annoying them.
The book is an easy read, though backed up with an impressive arsenal of facts and figures that back up Jaffe's points. He outlines where advertising has been and where it must go. If you are an advertiser, media producer, agency, or consumer you need to read this book.
Where is the originality?.......2006-05-02
I honestly didn't liked the Life After the 30-second spot, maybe the book was aimed at "beginners" to the world of media and advertising, it seemed like the ideas I was reading were obvious and I was waiting for that punch line where the author was going to tell me something different and original; and that didn't happened. It is a good book if you are a freshman at college and thinking about studying Communications/Journalism (Advertising, PR, Marketing), but if you are a senior in college, or if you are already involved with advertising/media world, than this book will not give you something new and original. Scale of 1 to 10, i'll give it 6 (it was very easy to read...i appreciate the author for writing something that was very easy to read)

Product Description
Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet, by Norma Lehmeier Hartie, is an indispensable reference book for anyone who cares about their health and well being and for the future of the planet. Hartie concisely covers a wide range of subjects and includes a comprehensive listing of advisory organizations, product and service resources. Part I of the book, Banish the Ugly from Your Life, is a blueprint for green, sustainable living. Discover how to replace toxic and unsustainable products from household cleaners to food (including recipes) to furniture to personal care products with safe, eco-friendly ones. Hartie is the tough but motivational Life Coach in her approach to cleaning, removing clutter and on organizing the home or office. Part II, Bring in the Beautiful to Create a Harmonious Environment and Self, includes a chapter on Earth-based spirituality and a fascinating look at the Four Elements (Earth, Fire, Air and Water) and the Medicine Wheel. The core of Hartie s philosophy blossoms in Chapter Seven, Applying Harmonious AdjustmentsTM: Using Feng Shui and Other Techniques for Powerful Results. Unlike other Feng Shui authors, Hartie has experience as a designer and her skills are apparent in this chapter and the following two. She has combined principles of Feng Shui, the Four Elements, color, energy, Vastu, and good design principles that create a unique and eclectic approach to home decorating. Finally, Hartie provides guidance on how to manifest personal or professional desires. In Part III, Putting the Pieces Together, Hartie skillfully integrates the many subjects of the book into a unified and cohesive whole. At its cover price of $19.95, Harmonious Environment is a value alone for the comprehensive green living product suppliers in the Resources section. What makes this book so truly ambitious, however, is what lies beneath the surface. In a sense, this book is only marginal

Transform Your Home into a Peaceful Sanctuary.......2007-04-10
"The energy from flowers is so bright and strong that they can be put anywhere in the home and they will enhance your life." ~ pg. 217
Norma Lehmeier Hartie is a design consultant and Harmonious Adjustment practitioner who enjoys gardening and cooking. She created the practice of Harmonious Adjustments to give her clients the chance to reconnect with nature and to manifest their personal and professional dreams. Through her book she introduces ideas for detoxing and decluttering your home environment.
If you want a happier, healthier lifestyle that is more in harmony with nature, then Norma Lehmeier Hartie's book has a world of information to make this possible. She can help you:
Remove toxic products from your home and garage
Clean and organize your home
Buy environmentally friendly cleaning products
Organize your home for more peace and harmony
Find healthy personal care products
Grow plants that help to control pollution - A list of the Fifty Best Houseplants
Find the best choices in flooring
Figure out how to recycle larger items like a refrigerator
Cook more safely and use kitchen scraps for your garden
Formulate a plan to keep your house clean
Organize every room in the house
Decorate with Confidence
Reading through the list of harmful products gives you an idea of the ingredients to avoid in cleaners and how they can affect your health. For an antibacterial spray, the author suggests water and essential oils and for cleaning silver she also suggests more natural solutions like baking soda and vinegar. Using Borax and water is less dangerous than chlorine bleach fumes and you may want to try this in your shower. You may enjoy products by Seventh Generation.
Chapter three felt a little out of my personal range of expertise, although we know that thoughts can affect our environment and life and can move our life in a positive or negative direction. This chapter deals more with spiritual practices. Chapter 6 also delves into a deeper connection with nature, personality types and elemental powers. The list of Yin and Yang is helpful to create a balance of the two in your home. An entire chapter is also dedicated to plants, gemstones and crystals.
"If you are the average American woman, you expose yourself to over two hundred synthetic chemicals that are found in the products you use as you prepare yourself for the day. These products do not simply sit on your skin; approximately sixty percent of these ingredients get absorbed into your bloodstream." ~ pg. 91
Chapter four is especially informative and essential if you are trying to be healthier and want to find organic alternatives to products filled with synthetic chemicals. Why should you avoid petroleum and talc? Why is there lead in hair dye?
The section on an Eco-Friendly Kitchen is interesting and the chapter on natural and organic foods also gives ideas on how to save time in the kitchen. A few recipes are included:
Vegetarian Pasta Primavera
Fajitas
Risotto with Scallops or Shrimp
Lemon Rice
Grilled Vegetables
An extensive list of resources and a very handy index complete this well-researched and extremely helpful book. If you enjoy Feng Shui or decorating and organizing your home, there is a lot to enjoy and you may find the information in this book can also help with fatigue, anxiety and sleeping problems.

Detox Your Life.......2007-04-04
No matter what your goals are, this book has the starting point for you. Learn how to make your life less toxic and get a better relationship with Mother Earth.
Declutter, paint and detoxify.......2007-04-02
Using the principles of Feng Shui, you can create a harmonious home environment with this book as a guide.
Author Lehmeier-Hartie has you choose colors, elements and design based on your birthday. If you suffer from problems feeling disorganized or headachey at home, it could be your home is not organized properly or the flow of energy is impeded.
The author extends this tranquility to finding the right job and the right mate. Whether or not it is the alignment of elements in the home, focusing on clearing clutter in your life can only have positive effects. A very pretty book.
Life-changing ideas.......2007-02-02
Worried about what your family is being exposed to? Are you hoping to increase your wealth or find love this year? Trying to decide on the best color to paint your walls? If you answered "yes!" to any of these questions, then Harmonious Environment is a must read.
The goal of this book is to create positive energy both in your home and your life and to be kinder to the earth. Hertie is a design consultant, chef, gardener, and healer. She shares her professional and personal experiences with the readers, i.e., homemade earth-friendly cleaning products, tasty recipes for carnivores and vegetarians, etc. She recommends that after reading this book, you apply the process in the following order:
1. Remove toxic products from your home and garage
2. Clean, declutter, clear and organize your home
3. Buy/use environmentally friendly products
4. Learn how to use place objects (furniture, mirrors, etc.) to manifest change in your life
The relationship between people and the Earth is an important part of Harmonious Environments. To remind ourselves of this interconnection, Hertie recommends bringing the natural world into your home. Some ways to do this include displaying rocks and minerals and using houseplants as pollution busters.
Hertie uses Harmonious Adjustments (TM) that combines "the best principles of Feng Shui, the application of the Four Elements based on your birth date, color, Vastu, energy work and good design." I've read a few Feng Shui books in the past, but the author's clear instructions and enthusiasm has given me the confidence to actually try this at home.
I liked how the author reminded me to use this book as a guideline but to also trust my intuition. Do what looks and feels right for you. I also liked how the Resource section listed all the suppliers, organizations and further readings mentioned throughout the book.
Even if you aren't interested in Feng Shui, this book has valuable information about becoming an informed consumer and living a more eco-friendly life.
Armchair Interviews says read Harmonious Environment and get ready to change your life!
Fantastic book with tons of information.......2007-01-18
I got this wonderful book as we are moving our place of business, and wanted to make smart choices. From the first page, Ms. Lehmeier-Hartie shares her expertise in an organized, thoughtful way. The day after I got the book, I negotiated a much more logical and healthier ventilation system, and the section on colors was far and away the most organized and logical explanation I have ever seen.
Some aspects of our project are beyond our control, but I became a much more active participant. We anxiously await our new space, and know that the suggestions made here will add to the beauty and functionality of our space. I wish I could have rated this 10 stars!
