The irrepressible mouse heroine of Chester's Way and Julius, the Baby of the World returns for another true-to-life and very funny episode. Lilly loves everything about school, especially her teacher, Mr. Slinger--until he takes away her musical purse because she can't stop playing with it in class. Lilly decides to get revenge with a nasty drawing of "Big Fat Mean Mr. Stealing Teacher!" but when she finds the kind note he put in her purse, she's filled with remorse and has to find a way to make things right again. Children will sympathize with Lilly's impulsive mistake and laugh uproariously at the witty and expressive pictures of the very human mice. In a starred review, Publisher's Weekly called this book "sympathetic and wise." (Ages 4 to 8)

LOVE THIS BOOK!.......2007-08-23
This is an awesome book! I use it every year in my 2nd grade class!
Henkes has done it again!.......2007-07-21
Lily will grab your student's attention, or capture your grandchild's heart! Be prepared to search to locate red cowboy boots and a purple plastic purse for those who are deeply attached to this character. (I found both on e-bay!)
A wonderful book.......2007-07-03
By Ellie
Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is good for all ages. Lilly, a cute little mouse, loves her new teacher, Mr. Slinger. She goes shopping and gets a new purse. She can't wait to show Mr. Slinger her new gifts. She is a little too excited and gets in trouble. In this book Kevin Henkes is very descriptive and creative in the writing and the pictures. It pulls you in and you can't wait to find out what's going to happen next. The problem of the story and how it resolves itself is very interesting. Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is a wonderful book.
Lily's purple purse is wonderful.......2007-05-18
My daughter really enjoyed this book. We purchased this and Chrysanthemum and she loves both. I have read these over and over again. This is a cute tail about Lily and her new toy and how she gets in trouble trying to show off her toys in class. It has wonderful detailed artwork and the storyline is very enjoyable.

I read the book Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. The reason I would recommend this book is so people could decide if they like it even though I didn't. I didn't like this book because Lilly was mean. In the book I read that Lilly was writing mean stuff to her teacher just because the teacher took her stuff away when she wasn't supposed to have it in school. This convinced me that it was not a good book.

Great Pop-up Book!.......2007-08-23
This is probably the greatest pop-up book I've ever seen. I just recently got this as a birthday gift from a friend and I really love it. It seems a little fragile though...not sure if I would let a kid play with it...they would rip it apart in a few minutes.

Book Description
Traction Man—wearing combat boots, battle pants, and his warfare shirt—comes in a box, but very quickly finds the way into the imagination of his lucky boy owner. This superhero searches for the Lost Wreck of the Sieve as the boy makes a game of doing the dishes, and later in the bathtub, he conquers the Mysterious Toes that are stealing his pet, the brave little Scrubbing Brush. These are just a few of the action-packed adventures played out by the boy and his new toy that may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but can vanquish all manner of villains lurking around the house. Mini Grey’s story in words and pictures is an irresistible invitation to the private world of a child’s play.
Praise for The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-Be:
“A rib-tickling U.S. debut for Grey, with plenty of sight gags to complement the chatty narrative.”—Kirkus Reviews
“The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-Be delivers an entertaining spin and a great deal of visual wit.”—The Horn Book
Customer Reviews:
Worth it for the wardrobe alone!.......2007-05-22
This book was recommended to me by a fellow mom of boys. My son (age 4) enjoys this book, and we parents get a kick out of the more subtle humor that goes over the heads of preschoolers.
Super Fun read.......2007-01-19
Traction Man is Here is so fun I had to read it to my grandson 5 times one day! The illustrations are clever, colorful and so interesting you notice something different every time you read it.
A Winner!.......2006-08-23
My boys (ages 5 & 2.5) have enjoyed this book so much that we quicky hurried back to the bookstore hoping that Mini Grey had written a sequel! A definite winner!
Square-jawed satire.......2006-06-08
This spoof of superhero comics and their ubiquitous action figures is so darn funny it's impossible to get through a first reading without pausing to hold your ribs. But it has a Shrek problem: its best lines zoom straight over kids' heads and target Mom and Dad.
This is welcome news if you're weary of countless nights re-reading Pooh or Seuss ad nauseum. But it's tough to explain to a toddler why the sight of a foot-tall plastic toy diving in a sink for the Lost Wreck of the Sieve provokes such snorts and guffaws.
Traction Man's a Christmas gift to an unnamed boy, whose imagination turns him loose on unsuspecting household objects. But both meet their match with Granny, who knits the doll a puke-green coverall that fairly screams "dork." Picture the matching bonnet and it's easy to summon similar mortifying moments from your own childhood.
Best Ever!.......2006-04-05
This is a fantastic, fun, imaginative children's book that me and my husband love to read to our child. Mini Grey captures a child's imagination with such precision that it brings back hilarious memories of our own fantastic pretend worlds. Great work Mini!
Book Description
In the bestselling book Letters from Felix, something terrible hasppens at the end of vacation: Sophie's cuddly rabbit, Felix, disappears in the airport! The is very, very bad, because Sophie and Felix are inseparable. But when schools starts again, suddenly a letter for Sophie arrives from London - a letter from Felix! Over 4.8 million Felix books have been sold worldwide!
Customer Reviews:
Little Rabbit.......2007-05-20
Some of my family and I participated in a school project for a friend's grandson - Felix was the inspiration - Very nice book and story - little envelopes with letters throughout - and a couple other inserts - very enjoyable - I plan to buy more Felix more my little boy.
Better read in childhood ... .......2007-02-01
This travelogue of a lost stuffed rabbit, Felix, was translated into English from the German. Felix's owner Sophie is disconsolate until letters start arriving from around the world, describing Felix's adventures and prompting Sophie's family to learn more about the various cultures Felix is enjoying and the world history he describes. You take the letters out of envelopes pasted into the book a la "Griffin & Sabine." A close examination of the first page illustration will show what happened to Felix (though it doesn't explain his later adventures). This was a sweet book but would need to be read during childhood to become a favorite, as it didn't have enough interest to captivate this new adult reader.
Felix : A Little Rabbit on a World Tour.......2005-09-14
A beautifully presented book, with a lovely story. The information it gives is easy from the age group it is aimed at to comprehend and learn without knowing their learning. A fun read.
A wonderful way to open the world for young children.......2005-04-27
My son (now 4 1/2) and I have been enjoying this book for the past year. A friend of mine sent it as a gift. My son is fascinated with geography and has a wonderfully active imagination. He is enthralled with the adventures of Felix and still cannot wait to take the next letter out of the envelope. My parents do a great deal of travelling and I may "lend" them one of my son's stuffed animals so that he can learn of it's adventures too. I just ordered two more books from this series. This book is a delight and an excellent learning tool!
a great read.......2004-11-07
This book was a perfect solution for my 4 year old who I felt was ready for more advanced reading. His interest was kept even though there was quite a bit of writing on each page. His anticipation in reading Felix's letters was a joy to watch. The picture of Felix next to the Eiffel Tower actually made me laught out loud the first time I saw it. I am definitely going to buy the next in the series. Loved it.

Anyone who has ever let go of a balloon string and watched the bright object go up and up and out of sight will appreciate this whimsical picture book that ponders the age-old question Where Do Balloons Go? This "uplifting mystery"--examined in singsong rhyme by Jamie Lee Curtis and playfully explored with Roz Chast-like illustrations by Laura Cornell--is a new offering from the team behind Today I Feel Silly, When I Was Little, and Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born.
Where do they go
when they float far away?
Do they ever catch cold
and need somewhere to stay?
"Do they tango with airplanes? / Or cha-cha with birds? / Can plain balloons read / balloons printed with words?" Cornell's splashy colorful spreads (one which folds out to four full pages) pop with plenty of witty details. One balloon, for example, waits nervously with a suitcase outside the Bates Motel. In a balloon-ridden urban scenario, advertisements promote balloon-friendly services such as "The Detanglers, professionals since 1934." This exuberant book will have you half-believing that balloons are people, too. A page of vinyl reusable stickers in the back can be used on the sky-and-cloud wash on the front endpaper, or the space-scape (complete with comets) on the back endpaper. Next time your child's balloon drifts away, it'll be much easier for him or her to imagine it dancing in Bolivia than caught up in phone wires! (Ages 4 to 8) --Karin Snelson
Book Description
Haven't you ever wondered ...
Where do balloons go

Includes cool reusable stickers and two play areas!
Customer Reviews:
Jamie Lee Curtis ROCKS!!!!!.......2007-01-04
I wish there was a way to promote her books more. I bought one of Jamie's earlier books for a little boy a couple years ago. Recently, I was very surprised when his Mother said that it was the only book he enjoyed reading and wanted "Where Do Balloons Go?" for a birthday presnt. This little boy doesn't read very much but spends a lot of time in front of the television or computer, so it was very uplifting to know he realized there is more to life than visuals.
2nd time purchased.......2006-11-10
Our grandson has this book & loves it so much that we purchased another as a gift for our nephew.
Fun, Silly and Most Importantly, Engaging for Young Readers!.......2006-09-30
I think every young child whose ever accidentally released a balloon into the wild blue yonder has wondered what happens to them...and this book gives kids some whimsical ideas about the secret life of balloons that should ease their minds about what happens...I suppose this is a better way for kids to think about it than just popping somewhere up there and plummeting to the ground. The words are written in silly rhymes and the illustrations are lush and whimsical...just plain silly and loads of fun for young readers. Younger kids (2-4) will like having the opportunity to explore each page and older kids (5-8) will enjoy reading all the additional text loaded onto each page (balloons writing post cards, signs for various things, ect...) that should help keep their interest when the simple rhyme is, well, too simple for them to enjoy. Each page feels rather like an explosion of art and whimsy...it is that chaotic splendor that kids can't help but love!! Where to Balloons Go? doesn't provide any scientific explanation...but it's not meant to, it's just plain fun!! Kids and adults alike will have fun reading this and diving right into the incredible illustrations...if you've got a kid 4-8, this is a must read!!
artistic, creative, clever, addictive!!.......2006-01-24
my daughter absolutely loves this book. the age range says 4 and up but my daughter is two and loves it and is addicted to it. she wants me to read it to her before her nap and bedtime. i would say not to leave it down where a child under 4 could rip the pages. this books verbage and artwork is so clever. my daughter and i both get a kick out of it. there are reusable stickers included in the back of the book and you can use them on the pretty inside covers in the front or back (slick surface- either cloud or space background). she always sees them when we are done reading and can't wait until she can one day play with them. she loves stickers but tends to rip them and ruin them at this age- so i'm waiting to let her play with these! i would recommend this book to anyone, and i know i will buying this as gifts!
Great for a child that has lost someone. .......2006-01-16
I don't know if this was the original message intended, but I've found this book to be a great tool for helping kids cope with loss. Whether it be a grandparent or a pet, this can open the lines of communication with a young child and help explain things that sometimes adults have difficulty putting into words. I'm a hospice nurse, and know that this book has been reccommended for children in our field for years - and it's darned cute to boot!

Part Peter Rabbit, part Velveteen Rabbit, Jeremy is a gentle little tale of a handmade bunny with honesty sewn right in. Lovingly crafted by a young woman in England, Jeremy knows he is destined for America. But rather than be shipped off in a cardboard box, he decides to make the journey himself. With the help of a lonely old man named Mr. Pruneholt, a sea captain and his noisy parrot, and a sweet but slightly barmy old woman called the Village Dear, Jeremy makes his way across the sea and into North Carolina. Along the way he dodges grabby children, a hungry fox, and finds an unlikely friend in an owl. Written as a kind of allegory for a favorite psalm of the author's, the tale is also a mini-Odyssey, complete with a sea crossing, beastly obstacles, and the promise of home at the end of the peregrinations.
Jan Karon is the author of the bestselling Mitford Years series, including At Home in Mitford. Teri Weidner's adorable depictions of plaid-trousered Jeremy and his friends and foes are sure to appeal to children from England to North Carolina and beyond. (Ages 7 to 10) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
When it is time for Jeremy, a handmade English bunny, to be sent to his true home in America, he refuses to be shipped in a box. So he sets out to deliver himself to the little girl who eagerly awaits him. Jeremy's journey begins with a prayer and some handy words of advice from his maker. Along the way he encounters friends in many forms, and all the adventures he has lead him, eventually, to his final destination-home.
Illustrated by Teri Weidner.

jeremy " tale of an honest bunny.......2007-01-10
jan karon has done a great job with the children's books.
Jeremy: Tale of an Honest Bunny.......2007-01-10
A must for school libraries, an excellent lesson on morals.
Not that impressed.......2004-12-10
I love books. I love children's books and love reading to my grandchildren. I must say that I was not all that impressed with this book. The physical look of the book is gorgeous. It is a high quality hardback with adorable, charming pictures. But I just couldn't get into the story line. I certainly don't see it in the same category as classics like Peter Rabbit and the Velveteen Rabbit. I bought it to read to my four and five year old grandchildren. I just can't see them sitting still for that whole story. I couldn't even get through it in one sitting myself. I think it is too long for a reading session for children who can't read yet and I don't think it would hold the interest of children old enough to read for themselves, so I'm not sure what the target age would be. I am obviously in the minority with this opinion, but as one who has read tons of books to my own children, as a substitute teacher and now as a Grandma;I think my opinion should carry some weight.
The cutest book!.......2003-02-15
Even though this book is easy, it is so cute! This is the only book I can find that is good for bunny lovers(like me). Just go to the library or buy this book and read it. It makes great before bed stories!
Jeremy definitely a come-back bunny.......2002-02-19
Jan Karon's tale of bunny adventure has stood the test of time in our household. The story of Jeremy, the English bunny sent with silver buttons to America, protected by Biblical verse and by the likes of Charles Benchley Owl, this was a fun first read for all. Now, left on a handy table, we're finding some of the lines getting a reprise -- "Don't take carrots from strangers" -- while the unusual depth of Teri Weidner's illustrations draws the reader back for second and more close looks. All of the art fits the tone and sense of the book. The full-page work is particularly entrancing. This bunny honestly provides repreated pleasure.

The Mixed-Up Chameleon Board Book.......2007-08-01
I enjoy reading this book not only to my 18 month old son but for myself.
At the moment he doesn't always sit for the whole book as it is a little long sometimes for a board book.
I feel this book encourages imagine and is simple enough for a toddler to understand!
Mixed-Up Chameleon.......2007-05-15
This product was a wonderful addition to my teaching arsenal for animal adaptions. I gave the students an humerous start to thinking about the real life adaptions organism have that helps them survive.
Fun Story with a Message.......2007-04-17
I think this is a fun story with a good message at the end. It's funny to see the creature the chameleon winds up being toward the end - before he decides to be himself. I'd put this on the list of recommended Carle books.
Delightful.......2007-01-12
My granddaughter loves this book. Like all of Eric Carle's books, it's a great story and the pictures are wonderful.
EXCELLENT BUY.......2006-07-16
This text is an invaluable picture book for children learning how to read, how to enjoy reading and to learn about the joys and absurdities that life can bring. It is a humerous text that utilises excellent illustrations to represent the plot. The plot itself humerously intertwines fantasy with reality, ofcoarse it depends upon the child's imagination. A must for any child that enjoys playing with words and surreal ideas. The book's design is additionally unique in that is in an organisational folder style whereby children may select various imaginary creatures as they choose. I hope that others can share this wonderful picture book with all children they read to and/or with.

When Christopher Robin asks Pooh what he likes doing best in the world, Pooh says, after much thought, "What I like best in the whole world is Me and Piglet going to see You, and You saying 'What about a little something?' and Me saying, 'Well, I shouldn't mind a little something, should you, Piglet,' and it being a hummy sort of day outside, and birds singing."
Happy readers for over 70 years couldn't agree more. Pooh's status as a "Bear of Very Little Brain" belies his profoundly eternal wisdom in the ways of the world. To many, Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and the others are as familiar and important as their own family members. A.A. Milne's classics, Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner, are brought together in this beautiful edition, complete and unabridged, with recolored illustrations by Milne's creative counterpart, Ernest H. Shepard. Join Pooh and the gang as they meet a Heffalump, help get Pooh unstuck from Rabbit's doorway, (re)build a house for Eeyore, and try to unbounce Tigger. A childhood is simply not complete without full participation in all of Pooh's adventures. (All ages) --Emilie Coulter

Horrible! Where is the History!?.......2006-12-17
Okay, first I'm a huge fan of Winnies Hollywood career and I also thought his apperance in the movie Top Gun as Tom Cruise's stunt double was amazing! Also playing Elizabeth Turner in the popular TV series, Pirates of the Mediterranean, was an astonishing role. But was that ever mentioned in the book? No! And that is what makes me lie awake in bed at night, hoping to one day claim vengeance on the editor and publisher. If you like this book, I will hunt you down and make you throw the book into a fire, do the tango, sing zip-a-dee-doo-da-zippada-da, then force you to alphabetize my sock drawer! So beware, and always know, I, Fartsy Magee, am always watching you. Right now your scrating your butt like a madman. I'm watching. Watching. Watching. Still watching. Okay, anyway I'm watching you every day. And I'm watching you like a blind man watching his glasses. BEWARE!!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!
But otherwise a great book and the author deserves a lot of credit.
childhood favorite.......2006-02-24
Who doesn't love Winnie The Pooh? Don't answer that. This is an excellent and charming book to use for bedtime stories for children. I grew up with it and I still love it! It endears the simplicity of life and love...and honey.
Wonderful to read aloud.......2006-01-15
Just great to get back to the 'book' instead of just videos of Pooh.
Pooh gets elevendymillion stars........2005-09-11
I gave this to my girlfriend a hundred miles away. Whenever I see her, maybe four times out of the year, we sit down and read from Winnie-the-Pooh. So I feel a very strong connection to this bear of very little brain. The stories mean a lot to me. This would make a wonderful present for anyone, any age, no matter what. You're never too young for Pooh. If somebody says they are, they're lying. And they're stupid. Poopieheads.
Winnie the Pooh - Great for You.......2005-08-09
Bought this for a new granddaughter and it is definitely a wonderful gift item. We will spend vast amounts of time reading these stories to her.

Book Description
Revisit — if you dare! — one of the best-loved pop-up books of all time, now more gleefully ghoulish then ever with the addition of several spooky surprises.
Come in, Doctor. Yes, it is a quaint old place-chilly, though. . . .
The owner of the Haunted House is unwell, and it's not surprising. There's a ghoul in the cupboard, an octopus in the sink, a crocodile in the bath, and in every room, a sinister black cat watching it all with roving eyes. Every page of this thrilling pop-up book is packed with spine-tingling surprises, culminating in a spectacular final spread complete with a creepy creaking saw.
Since 1979, hundreds of thousands of readers have taken this scared-silly tour of one of the best-selling pop-up books of all time. This is one Haunted House that remains as innovative and exciting today as it was twenty-six years ago-but now offers even more tantalizing twists:
— Stunning new holographic foil cover!
— Scary new surprises, announced on front cover with a removable sticker! Brand-new elements have been added to four spreads, including a ghost in the closet, a cockroach in the oven, and vampire teeth in the nightstand!
— Great new price! This perfect Halloween and year-round treat is available for only $14.99.

What a Great Book!.......2007-09-24
This is a fun read anytime of the year but it just seems fitting here at Halloween. Looking for something to give the little one other then candy this year? Give this book! It will last a lot longer and they will love it even more.
Both of my kids love this book! I was not sure how well it would hold up at first but after two years and a lot of abuse (pulling tabs to hard and having the monsters chase little hands) it is still in great condition. EXTREMELY well made pop-up book with little people in mind.
haunted house.......2007-01-23
I was surprised at how quickly the book I ordered was sent to my house. Thank you for your quick response. Terri
This haunted house is a SCREAM!.......2006-04-23
I bought this fun book after I read the favorable reviews here, and I am a halloween nut. My kids and I love this book! The pop-ups are awesome and the quality of the book is excellent. What I am not quite sure of is the dialoge/storyline that goes with it. I have looked at and read this book numerous times and still have no clue who the "doctor" is...is it Dr.Frankenstein? Dr. Doolittle perhaps? I am left anxious with no idea who the mysterious doctor is and in the last page, just where did he go? I am thinking he is in the wooden box heading for Translyvania and trying in vain to saw himself out - yet when I peek into the box, I see no doctor, just a bomb with a lit fuse! Cool pop-ups but pretty bizarre story to go along with it.
Ages 3 and older will relish this scary pop-up title .......2006-01-14
Ages 3 and older will relish this scary pop-up title which is recommended for parent acquisition, as it probably won't withstand the rigors of library lending unless it's used as a display on a top shelf. Haunted House opens with a spooky pop-up staircase and moves to cover monsters and even an octopus in the bathroom. It arrived too late for Halloween mention but deserves pick as a 'keeper' for next year.
THE EPITOME OF POP-UPS.......2005-08-15
Multi-talented doesn't begin to describe Jan Pienkowski. Born in Poland in 1936 he made his first book when he was only 8-years-old. It was a gift for his father. Due to the war his family left Poland and eventually settled in England where he would attend Kings College. It seems that his interest in stage design developed while he was there.
Since his college days he has worked in publicity, advertising, and done stage designs for The Royal Ballet and Disneyland, Paris. Here, in America, we probably know him best for his amazing paper art. His pop-up books don't just spring forward, but swirl as in an octopus busily doing dishes or soar as in three geese flying across a mantel. Youngsters will be delighted to find this and so very much more in Haunted House.
This is a place where ghosts hide under the stairwell and a portrait of La Gio Conda watches with the touch of a tab. Refrigerator doors swing open to reveal a very Muenster-like kitchen, while King Kong holds forth in the living room.
Each double page is an amazing array of spooky sights just waiting for young fingers to release them. Haunted House is the epitome of pop-ups, a prototype for all budding paper artists.
