Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

A Must-read.......2007-10-04

I'm at the beginning of my career in voice-over and I've read a good handful of books on the topic and taken tons of classes...but rarely has anyone "broken down" the essentials of technique quite as clearly and succinctly as Elaine Clark does in this book. For the first time, I felt like I had some practical tools I could refer to when approaching copy, which not only gave me a promising ground to start from, but also helped build my confidence and desire to "stick-to-it." Rather than give you hollow, abstract phrases about the need to connect emotionally to the copy, she shows you "how" to make it "yours." Obviously she's a great teacher with a lot of experience, as she leaves no stone unturned in this book with regards to what to expect in every aspect of this career and how to be best prepared so that you can succeed.

My Favorite Book on Voiceover.......2007-08-16

Elaine Clark is my guru. I have read this book a number of times since purchasing it in 2001, and I return to a number of specific passages when I need a refresher. Having worked steadily in this business for 20+ years, and having purchased many books on voice acting, I 've found "There's Money Where Your Mouth Is" to be my absolute favorite. The reader is taken from the basics to the multitude of details involved in running your own successful voice-over business.
Thanks to Elaine Clark, I have grown professionally as a voice actor, and enhanced my voice acting and copy interpretation skills.

If you are at all interested in VO, get this book. I read it cover to cover a year ago, and I've been cherry picking those areas that I've needed to focus on ever since. Now that I've marked up my copy at least three times and pages are starting to break loose of their binding, I'm ready to get an agent and start working. If your an actor or improvisor this book will help all areas of your artistic endeavors. The nuances & subtleties of speech are examined in great detail. The bottom line throughout this book is how to stop "acting" and be real. The market is hungry for every day real people. There's a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow, pick it up.

This book is very helpful for those new to the industry. It contains information about putting your demo together, about getting an agent, and has sample copy to practice with, and tips for exercising your voice. I definitely reccomend this for anyone who is interested in trying this line of work for the first time.

This book can be helpful for actors starting out. I have found that the actors I work with in my private practice need exercises to get them prepared for the biz.

This book gives an extensive overview of the music industry from the perspective of experienced insiders, with plenty of financial data and examples. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn about the music industry and the financial rewards that come with success. Unfortunately, it dwells on major record labels and hit-producing artists - without really going in to how they got there, "indie" labels, or any guidance for the aspiring musician.

as a beginner musician myself, i could not believe how much information this book gives just to make money in the music crazed industry. any one who "listens to music" or "plays an instrument" should buy this book!!! this book provides detailed blueprints to get started right away with following the right steps to do more than just make money. I truely love playing music and why not make a few bucks here and there doing it. overall this book pinpoints doing it for the love of music rather than just for money. making money is just added bonus.

Money is all people want these days and if you want to make them as a record producer you'll have to overcome some big hurdles on your way to fame and fortune. Law tricks, mean people, big companies, all add up to an impressive amount of pressure that will be put on an emerging record label that's just starting out in the business. The guidance in this book is vital for people starting and maintaining record labels, but it doesn't even come close to the complexity and depth of "The Music Business: How YOU can make $500,000 "or more" a year in the music industry by Doing it Yourself!" and the follow up "The Music Business: How You Can Make $500,000.00 (or More) a Year in the Music Industry by Doing It Yourself! Volume II" ,both great books by Ty Cohen that should be every producer's bible.

An honest book from a smart man.......2007-07-09

This book is so honest, that at time it was painfull for me to listen to (I've got an audio version). The realization that I also sometimes want to escape the truth shocked me.

The book contains a lot of things you probably have heard - and not once, BUT Gene makes an old wisdom sound very convincing. He uses logic, facts, statistics and examples to make you re-think your beliefs.

He may sound cynical, but I think he really is a man who uses his brain.

I loved the audio-version - Gene is a charismatic narrator and I listend to the whole 4+ hours of audio in one sitting.

Is Gene sometimes wrong? Maybe. But everybody or almost everybody is.

But not everybody is as honest as Gene.

"If people tell you they don't want more money, they are a) lying, b) insane" - says Gene. It is true. But a lot of people lie about this even to themselves.

The book really made me look at life differently. I now see a "rebel" rock stars like Trent Reznor (a Kiss fan buy the way) or Marilyn Manson in different light - as businesspeople who spend their time earning money by selling their stuff to people, a lot of whom don't know how to spend their time.

It also made me really look at time and money and re-think the value of these resources.

I strongly recommend this book. And even you don't like some or all of Gene's OPINIONS, you still will probably find his ADVICE valid and useful. It works, baby.

Gene does dr.Phil??.......2007-05-25

No... this is not a politically 'correct' book. Its a bottom line type of book. It is refreshing in this era to have things like Money, Marriage, Sex and Business laid out as bluntly as Gene does here. even if you are familiar with these concepts, Gene's way of explaining is unique. Very cocky and very proud. Gotta love it..
There are some Kiss thoughts mixed in for balance and to get Kiss $$, but it is more or less just a mans view on life as we know it. There are good suggestions along with some ideas that you may have never thought of.. A good purchase for the modern man. I dig it.

What a fun character Gene Simmons is *g*, this book is definitely entertaining - he is so full of himself but maybe that's part of his success, he believes in himself at all times (and if he doesn't, he sure doesn't show it) - regardless, enjoy the amusing ride in Gene's world. You have to take him with a grain of salt though or he'll brush you the wrong way. Definitely not a book for narrow minded people, they might have a heart attack reading it ;p. He appears to be a natural in everything he does and when things don't work out, he takes it as "lesson learned" and moves on to the next quest, nothing seems to get him down. As for his "unmarried" state, the man is only brutally honest, this might be tough to swallow for some ladies out there. I don't know what the ladies see in him (unbelievable record there my boy) but he DOES have a good voice and I have the feeling that he can be a very smooth talker if he wants to be (listened to an interview I've found online on NPR). I would give this book 5 stars for the pure entertainment value of it but it IS to repetitious, that's my only complaint. He talks about things and then there are pages sandwiched in between with graphics and it's basically the same content again. Still, I do recommend reading it, it's highly amusing!

I'm a recruiter and I find candidates for my clients. Most of the time I get poorly qualified candidates calling me and it's hard to find the "right" candidates when I search for them. This is a must have book for everyone who has even daydreamed about writing their own music. Knowledge of copyright law is more important than ever, and this book is just the reference for you if you're trying to make it in the music business. Plenty of times unscrupulous agents, managers, and record labels get artists to sign things they don't really understand, ending up with all the rights to a band's entire efforts. This is an average guide about the hardships that are encountered during the first few years in the music industry. A good read with insightful information and a couple of real life stories to back all the theories up. While readng this book, I could often be found cackling with glee due to its cleverness. However some of the advice given could hardly be described as practical. Getting familiar with the details, behind-the-scenes, and the ups and downs about the road map in the music business. It tells it all on what musicians, producers, composers, arrangers plus mixers and engineers had to do. What can I say? This is not a bad book, it's a Great book to me even I'm musically trained. (Plus find most on my reviews on similar books I last read Conducting Technique: For Beginners and Professionals by Brock McElheran and What You Need to Know about the Record Industry by Kashif (such a neat book))

What I'll add to this book is that it helps you grow, helps you think more clearly, helps u be happy, helps be more interested of pursuing a career of music or any type of career in the entertainment industry.

I'm interested of writing and make songs for most artists out there who are doing they thing 2day.

"How to Be a Working Musician" is based not only on Mike Levine's own experience, but also on interviews with a wide range of industry insiders. The book is grounded in the economic realities of the music business.

It's a strong dose of reality. Some people might find this depressing, but I found the book to be very inspirational. It taught me not only that it *can* be done, but also how to do it, and what sort of attitude it will take to succeed.

Levine focuses on the practical steps you have to take, and keep taking over a period of years, in order to get to a point where you can make a living playing your instrument. He doesn't offer any shortcuts to stardom. Nor does he downplay the compromises that the average musician has to make in order to get and keep paying work. Levine simply tells how it is for the majority of working musicians -- and how to become one of them.

The book doesn't provide much information on related careers, like teaching music, or being a booking agent. There are other books for that. This one focuses on how to get paid to play and/or write music. The scope of the book is limited, but the coverage is very thorough.
