Song of the Phoenix is one of the most uplifting and positive books I've ever read about the afterlife, and it goes well beyond seances or transcriptions of a medium's revelations. Song of the Phoenix is a praise for those who have traveled into the next realm. If you experience concern for loved ones who have entered the Summerland, or fear toward your own death, you will find comfort and inspiration in these messages from beyond the veil. While I'm not insecure about death, this book still left me with a feeling of joy and a smile on my face.

Life after death.......2003-08-19
A friend lent this book to me because my brother is dieing and she thought it might help.
Although this book is not about religion, it reaffirmed my faith in God's All-powerful Love. It also explained Heaven add hell to me in a way I could understand it.
"Song of the Phoenix" has Universal Truth's no matter which religion you practice. Thank you, Lily Fairchilde, for writing this book and thank you, Julie, for lending it to me.
A true ode to the phoenix.......2000-06-29
Its been some time that I've been on this philosophical kick, so when I happened to chance by the "Song of the Phoenix" I kind of picked it with slight cynicism towards the subject. But boy! was I in for a surprise. This book, given the subject has amazing clarity of thought, and a purity and innocence about it, which I just could not negate. I can say this much that I am more of a believer now than, I was before I read the book. Moreover, it actually influenced me to bring to fruition my long drawn wish to do some community service, back here in India.
Thought-Provoking and Comforting.......1997-12-04
Having dealt with the loss of my mother about two years ago, I have questioned the existence of life after death. On a lark, I purchased Lily Fairchilde's book and was amazed by how much it affected me. Ms. Fairchilde's contacts with the dead are informative, fascinating and completely absorbing. She has converted a non-believer into a believer.
Book Description
The human spine with its primary and secondary curves looks like a standing wave. Is it possible, asks the author, that energy echoes like a standing wave between these curves in order to maintain the structural and neural integrity of the spine and nervous system? That question led Dr. Wieder into research on the resonance of the spine. Her studies reveal that each bone of the spine has its own tone and frequency, and that applying specific vibrational frequencies directly to the vertebrae generates a sympathetic response that activates the embedded harmonics that help maintain healthy functioning. This book provides an overview of the history of harmonic healing from ancient times to the present, and chapters on how sound creates form and the neurobiological basis of vibrational healing. But the core of the book is about a vibrational therapy called bone toning, how it was developed and how it can be applied.
Customer Reviews:
A whirlwind tour of attunement.......2004-10-08
In the beginning, there was sound. As above, so below. Everything is vibration.
Every now and then a new voice comes along that breathes vitality and clarity into these new age clichés. June Leslie Wieder, in her book THE SONG OF THE SPINE, succeeds in transmitting this rare state of illumination. Dr. Wieder, a chiropractor, has developed a healing technique called bone toning, which uses pure musical tones to bring the spinal vertebrae, as well as the subtler energy systems of the body, into attunement and alignment.
Astonishingly, Dr. Wieder has discovered that the spinal vertebrae are individually tuned to the notes of the diatonic scale in C, including the "black keys" of the piano for the reverse curves of the cervical and lumbar segments of the spine. How can the human body be tuned to an arbitrary scale, the chromatic scale in C?
How, we might rather ask, can it not? True to the hermetic principle of "As above, so below," we humans evolved in the context of our planet Earth, the solar system, the galaxy, the cosmos. The song of the spine is the Pythagorean music of the spheres. We are all connected through the shared sea of vibration from which we emerged, and in which we still swim.
Through empirical clinical research, the author arrived at her discovery of the therapeutic benefit of stimulating a misaligned vertebra with a vibrating tuning fork appropriate to its particular frequency. The way was prepared, however, by ancient esoteric teachings and the traditions of energy medicine dating from early peoples up to the present. Today even orthodox medicine employs vibratory frequencies in diagnosis and treatment, as in sonograms, x-rays, laser therapy, and electrical stimulation.
In a brief 129 pages, Dr. Wieder lays out a rich and complex history of healing traditions and innovations utilizing sound, music, light, electricity, and other vibratory modalities. She describes manipulative therapies that aim to restore balance in the skeleton, muscles, nerves, cells, mind, and spirit, through properly applied frequencies of energy or touch. She shows how sound manifests as form, as revealed in the science of Cymatics, and how we can access the unconscious wisdom of the organism through muscle testing, or applied kinesiology.
Amidst this dizzying array of energy techniques, manipulative therapies, scientific research, and occult philosophy, I often wished for a footnote to point me toward a fuller exposition of an intriguing point. The suggested readings and websites listed at the end of the book help to fill this one noticeable deficit (besides the need for an index), and represent a stellar selection of resources on energy medicine, sound, music, and acoustics.
This book is overtly addressed to health practitioners who might be interested in exploring the bone toning technique. More broadly, it is for anyone who can appreciate a seamlessly holistic view of the place of humans in the larger scheme of things, and of healing as a process of attunement. It is rare for a writer to "get it" as completely and succinctly as Dr. Wieder does.

"All Journeys Are Sacred" Journey with Louise StrongBear into shamanic realms of healing. Meet her teachers as she wanders through middle earth, the lower world, and the upper world, following the path of her heart. Begin in the East, and circle the Medicine Wheel to the North, finding yourself along the way. This is a heroine's journey, correlating with the journey of the fool in the major arcana of the tarot. It is also a story of finding lost soul parts, and finding your way back to your home in the stars. It is about magic, miracles, power animals, angels, witchcraft, shamanism, and shapeshifting. This is Louise's story, the one she knows by heart. And it is your story, too-the one that you forgot. "Remember You Are Magic"

Beautiful.......2007-04-01
I found this book to be a very moving experience. I enjoyed every page of the journey. I've told all my friends about it. Thank you Ms. Strongbear for sharing with us all.
Enchanting & Engaging.......2007-03-16
I found myself traveling along in the enchanted world. Knowing how close you can be to the spirit world in your dreams is a wonderment. I know there are answers in your dreams if you just look and pay attention. Thank you Louise for guiding me through. This is a book everyone should read. Buy two and give one to a friend.
Spellbound.......2007-03-13
Unlike most reviewers, I COULD put Journey by Night down - as when you
are spellbound by a beautiful dream - and you don't want it to end....
My journey through this book took me to a completely new place. I read
and reread lines, passages, poems and chapters. As with anything practiced, it got easier...
to capture a glimpse of what can be possible
on ones own personal journey.
I evolved from an onlooker in that solitary night, to a seeker.
This book and its wisdom will be my bedside companion.
Let us hope there will be many more to come.
I would give this 10 stars if I could!!!!.......2007-03-06
You would have thought Ms. StrongBear wrote books for years. Journey by Night was very inspirational. This is one to remember...come and be a Wayfarer, as Wolf states: "Wayfarer is one who travels by foot, one step at a time. This is a way of learning. Human steps." If you feel lost and alone in the world, travel with StrongBear and meet her animated characters. Once you meet "Jimmy the Leprechaun" and feel his comedic charm, (as he tickles you and himself) but his passionate soul will let you know how similar we are with other living creatures. If you are not satisfied with his cleverness, stroll down the page and take a whimsical retreat into Pegasus world. His world is not filled with long-term suffering and illness; the aura is pleasant--letting you know that the grass is greener on the other side. After reading this book it will answer your question and have you asking questions...you would want to learn more about magic!
I would like to thank you Louise StrongBear for opening up my thinking to a whole new world. I am inspired and I believe you are a healer with the ability to capture your reader. Capturing your reader to make them believe they were there with you while in fear, afraid; but yet, having the courage to find out who you are. Hesitant but eager to connect to helpful strangers; with the question--"Haven't we met before?" Questioning should you give up, but kept your feet planted on the ground as you trotted to your destiny.
Thank you once more for bringing your iridescence as you journey by night. The stars and moon are shining bright for you. Thanks for creating an uplifting story.

This Is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human Obsession

Book Description
While the first healers were musicians who relied on rhythm and song to help cure the sick, over time Western thinkers and doctors lost touch with these traditions. In the West, for almost two millennia, the roles of the healer and the musician have been strictly separated.
Until recently, that is. Over the past few decades there has been a resurgence of interest in healing music. In the midst of this nascent revival, Ted Gioia, a musician, composer, and widely praised author, offers the first detailed exploration of the uses of music for curative purposes from ancient times to the present. Gioia’s inquiry into the restorative powers of sound moves effortlessly from the history of shamanism to the role of Orpheus as a mythical figure linking Eastern and Western ideas about therapeutic music, and from Native American healing ceremonies to what clinical studies can reveal about the efficacy of contemporary methods of sonic healing.
Gioia considers a broad range of therapies, providing a thoughtful, impartial guide to their histories and claims, their successes and failures. He examines a host of New Age practices, including toning, Cymatics, drumming circles, and the Tomatis method. And he explores how the medical establishment has begun to recognize and incorporate the therapeutic power of song. Acknowledging that the drumming circle will notâand should notâreplace the emergency room, nor the shaman the cardiologist, Gioia suggests that the most promising path is one in which both the latest medical science and musicâwith its capacity to transform attitudes and bring people togetherâare brought to bear on the multifaceted healing process.
In Healing Songs, as in its companion volume Work Songs, Gioia moves beyond studies of music centered on specific performers, time periods, or genres to illuminate how music enters into and transforms the experiences of everyday life.

Book Description
• A collection of earth-centered meditations to enhance our connection to the natural world.
• Reveals the Old Wisdom of the Cherokee elders for living in harmony with all beings.
• Written by J. T. Garrett, of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who was taught the ancient ways by his grandfather and other medicine men of his tribe.
In a time before ours, humans could talk with animals, hear whisperings from plant life, and understand the origin stories written in the stars. Survival depended on active kinship with family and tribe, with four-leggeds and plant people, with sun and moon and fire. The Cherokee, known widely as the Principal People or the First People, hold a deeply tapestried collection of stories about human interrelatedness with nature. Those stories, passed down through countless generations of Cherokee, are especially significant at this time in human history, when Mother Earth suffers under the weight of unchecked "progress."
As a boy, J. T. Garrett sat beside his grandfather and the other medicine men of his tribe as they chanted and drummed the stories of his ancestry. From those stories of Nu-Dah (the Sun), Grandmother Moon, Spring Rain, and Little Eagle comes this collection of active meditations for reconnecting with the natural intelligence that is our birthright. Recognizing that we are all kin in the Universal Circle of life opens us to communication with all beings, bringing us back to our natural spirit selves. If we listen carefully to the Cherokee stories of the Old Ways we can gain understanding of lost social and spiritual traditions that can help ensure a thriving future.

Meditations with the Cherokee: Prayers, Songs, and Stories of Healing and Harmony.......2005-08-23
inspiring, thoughtful, well written
Great meditations.......2003-11-04
This book weaves together stories - memories and experiences - of Cherokee ceremonies and conversations with elders. The stories tell the message (sometimes in a long about way but they get there) and then there are these mediation exercises that usually include sitting down out in nature, breathing fully and focusing on a certain image or word. Its neat. The stories are easy to read and the mediations are quite relaxing and centering. Lots of life lessons included here.
Good.......2003-08-08
Sometimes J.T. gets too lost in the story for me.
Harmony and Balance from a Cherokee Perspective.......2002-08-13
This is a wonderful and concise book which reveals the old wisdoms and teachings of the Cherokee. For most readers it will be a slightly different approach in learning to be in harmony with our modern world. The book teaches this harmony both with meditative exercises and with stories which carry the message - the teachings for our current and future generations. As mentioned in the introduction, "This book will take you on a journey of discovery about relationships." It is an excellent book and very much worth reading. It is the 3rd in a series of books by Dr. J. T. Garrett that teach us how to live in harmony and balance in this world. [His other books are Medicine of the Cherokee - The Way of Right Relationship and Walking on the Wind: Cherokee Teachings for Healing Through Harmony and Balance (written by his son, Professor Michael Garrett).]
Dr. Garrett does it again.......2002-04-17
Dr. Garrett continues to bridge ancient wisdom with modern practical ways of being , irregardless of ones cultural background this book provides simple meditations that can effect profound changes bringing harmony into ones life. You can read it over and over again gaining new insight with each reading. This book is a way of connecting us to what it means to be a human being on Mother Earth.

The Intention Experiment: Using Your Thoughts to Change Your Life and the World
ASIN: 0963190938 |
Book Description
One of the first questions asked in examining the root causes of discontent should beWhen did you stop singing? or: Why aren't we in touch with this vital part of our being? In such an inquiry lies a journey toward the essential qualities that give happiness to the way we lead our daily lives. Throughout Song and Silence, Susan Hale explores the meaning of song and the cultural estrangement from our own voices. She shows us how singing can restore a relationship with ourselves, the natural world, and the many human worlds around us. What belongs to each of us coming into life is an ability to express inner feelings through sound. Using this most basic part of human existence can connect us with our deepest spiritual joys. This insight is often forgotten, but still functions in tribal cultures around the planet. Reaching into our common global matrix, Susan Hale shares experiential truths and lessons of the healing power of sound, song, and silence learned in her own journey as a singer. This book offers a fresh point of view, which leads to simple, yet profound, personal growth.
An exploration of song as personal expression.

Unique and Comprehensive.......2004-05-25
In this book, the author reviews the vocal and sound-healing techniques of a variety of master practitioners. It is a most in-depth look at a very elusive but valuable aspect of music therapy and performance training. It should be of interest to music educators, music therapists, public speakers, and anyone who needs to become more aware of how to use a voice effectively and authentically, or coach others to do so.
