5 out of 5 stars Tori Amos is a gifted writer and a rain drop from a cloud of mystery.......2005-11-27

Sometimes I question whether or not Tori Amos is a genius or not, however when i first listened to this album I was blown away by her sense of pure honesty and profound goodness, her words speak to the soul and hang from the heart and her memorable gentle touch is brilliant. She is a wonderful pianist and her lyrics are vivid, intense and often overwhelming although her music never fails to amaze me. I believe my favorite songs on this Cd are Crucify, Girl, Precious things, and Little Earthquakes. Her ability to use her words to blend the truth together has inspired me.

5 out of 5 stars One of my most prized possessions..........2004-01-13

This collection of sheet music, is an absolute godsend. My favorite songs are China and Crucify. When playing, I feel like I am "channeling" Tori. Quite a rush. Anyways, though, the book doesn't stay open unless you rip the pages out. Aside from that, though, it's a great collection of songs.

5 out of 5 stars Great, fun times!.......2001-11-03

If you like Tori and like to play piano, this book is for you! Some of the songs are pretty hard, but if you really get into them, they will start to dominate your world. Most of the songs are true to the cd versions, with some changes because most of us can't play like Tori. However, you can hear the song you know and love when you play it. Playing the songs helped me understand them on a deeper level. Definitely fun!

3 out of 5 stars Beginners only.......1999-10-14

I sympathise with the reviewer who reported the faulty binding. Mine fell apart too... I am a trained pianist and like others, I was disappointed somewhat that the arrangements are never 100% faithful to Tori's versions, a trend obvious in all the Tori albums. This is especially puzzling when often the excised parts are NOT that technically diffcult. But for people with the skill and a good ear, it is possible to improvise your own corrections to make the pieces more faithful - change octaves, maintain accompaniment themes like 'Precious Thing's' famous opening past the intro, as this music *doesn't* do. And what is this thing that publishers *love* to do where they write the melody line into the accompaniment?! It doesn't *exist* in the accompaniment, you *sing* it. This barbaric heresy on performance practice is a sad fact of music publishing, it seems. But overall, it provides good song foundation....but experienced players must be prepared to work around some parts.

4 out of 5 stars Great book for Tori fans who want to play the main notes.......1999-10-05

This is a GREAT book for Tori fans who desire to play her beautiful songs in the basic forms; however, it simply cannot transcribe what Tori actually plays, so it is somewhat toned down. This is at no fault of the editors; Tori is simply too talented. :) It is a great way to play the songs however, and I highly recommend it for Tori fans. ALSO - I think Upside Down is worth it alone, as well as Mother, Winter, and Leather. My only complaint is that they cut Mother short... I wanted to play the gorgeous part when she just sings slowly "Oooh ooh, mother...leave the light on..." and so on, but that really isn't on there. BUT!!! I love the book and I think its well worth it. (to address the very first post, some of my pages have started to come out, but I've sort of abused it over the 2 years I've had it). Great book.

4 out of 5 stars Some good, some a bit lacking, but all fun to play........2001-06-12

This was the first Tori book I bought and I was not at all disappointed. First of all, the songs included are Cornflake Girl, Blood Roses, Silent All These Years, Icicle, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Over The Rainbow, Hey Jupiter, and In The Springtime Of His Voodoo. The transcriptions of Over The Rainbow, Cornflake Girl, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Hey Jupiter, and Icicle are absolutely superb. Although many people disagree with the practice of putting the melody into the accompaniment, as a pianist who cannot sing, I am thankful for it -- all of the songs other than Hey Jupiter double as piano solos for those of us who don't want to desecrate Tori's songs by trying to sing them. ;) On the other hand, In The Springtime Of His Voodoo is just about unbearable with its piano lines stripped down to, at most times, one or two notes and doesn't come close to the LP recording. The other songs are all moderately well-done. I would recommend this book on the whole, however, as the rhythms are great and flow nicely and the songs are definitely fun to play, especially if you can find someone to sing with you. I'm not at all sorry I bought it.

5 out of 5 stars AN EXTRA SONG YOU CAN'T FIND IN ANY OF HER OTHER BOOKS.......1999-02-14

I personally enjoyed the extra added pictures in this book. I am always dissapointed in the transcriptions because there dampen to Tori's ad lib. but, I guess it Lies in the conscience of the editor whom transcribed the music. However, you will not be disappointed with "Over the Rainbow", which is the only song you cannot find in any other Tori Amos Song Books. She played it exactly the way its written on the MTV Unplugged Segment. Other songs included are: Cornflake Girl, Blood Roses, Silent All These Years, Icicle, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Hey Jupiter, and In The Spring Time Of His Voodoo.

3 out of 5 stars Poor/questionable arrangements.......2007-10-02

The Choirgirl Hotel album features many overdubbed instruments and one can't reasonably hope to play every layered melody with only their two hands and a piano. However, I will say that David Pearl's arrangement is questionable at the very least. Most of the songs seem reasonable but I was struck by how off the main melody for 'Spark' is. I understand that it's a treated piano played through an effect rig, but Pearl's interpretation is...just...crazy. The first half of the second measure is completely wrong. He's got something like "d a f# a f# a" when it's closer to "d f# a b g a".
Spark is the only song I've yet to really analyze, so I don't know if this is an isolated mistake, or what.

Yes, I'm picky, but the man has a tin ear.

3 out of 5 stars More solid transcriptions than expected, less omissions than usual.......2006-08-14

Choirgirl offers pianists a few challenges while mostly avoiding the daunting key signatures and compound time found on efforts like Under the Pink. Compared to the books for Little Earthquakes and Under The Pink the omissions here are few and mostly forgivable, and a few songs that could have turned out unplayable are spared by judicious compositing.

There are two unqualified highlights in the book: a fantastic "Pandora's Aquarium" and a faithful "Spark." Both songs are eminently playable while offering a few instances where you might need to pencil in your fingering. A serviceable trio of "Liquid Diamonds," "Jackie's Strength," and "Black Dove" follows them closely in quality.

However, the latter two tunes plateau at a particular difficulty, omitting a few killer passages that are just slightly defter than the rest of the song. A careful listen will reveal what's missing (and, if you have a good ear, will help you to fix it).

The problem is much more more glaring on "Raspberry Swirl." Where Tori occasionally departs from big block chords the book always stays with them. Also, there are some instances where the book could have indicated some of the additional keyboards from the song. Finally, it omits the ad-libbed solo running through the outro.

Simple "Playboy Mommy" is - puzzlingly - the worst offender. The book displaces simple figures from where they ought to be, and repeatedly ignores sparse right hand work in favor of continuous vocal melody. It plays okay, but it's clearly not the same thing Tori is doing. The same goes for a middling version of "Northern Lad."

Choirgirl includes some songs where piano isn't the most prominent fixture of an arrangement - songs are driven by keyboards, or Tori just supports the rhythm section. The book approaches these songs in a number of ways, because providing a verbatim keyboard part isn't always the best solution ... much of "Hotel" is very accurate to what Tori performed on tour, but at points it sounds peculiar when you play it by yourself.

The best-adapted band arrangement is "She's Your Cocaine." It mostly sticks to what Tori plays, but it adds some bass to the left hand and gives the melody to the right where it would be tacit. The additions don't sound wrong, and they're easy to identify and eliminate if you choose. "Iieee" does it's best to composite an occasional piano with with keyboards and bass guitar. It's a solid arrangement, and with a little ad-lib it can match perfectly to the disc. By contrast, "Cruel" could very well be what Tori is playing on keys and we'd never know it - the mix of the song obscures almost everything. The book errs in favor of bass notes and melody for most of the arrangement. It's not very fun to play.

Only one truly serious omission is made: the amazing "doing oh so well these days" section of "Liquid Diamonds" is completely absent. Also, the second verse piano is lost to a repeat sign, and Tori is clearly doing something different (more simple?) than what is notated in the chorus. Balancing these errors are a nearly flawless intro and first verse. Overall the song is playable and sounds fine.

The only other omission is that the "how many fates" bridge in "Spark" is clearly simplified. Otherwise, the brief piano bridge of "Black Dove" is close to accurate, as are most of the outstanding compound-time solos in the middle of "Hotel." And, as already mentioned, the arrangement of "Pandora" is excellent.

The book features no background vocals, which leaves Tori's unintelligible and sometimes operatic efforts to the imagination. The loss isn't too objectionable since nothing could really be counted as a dual-lead on this disc (as opposed to the bridges of "Space Dog" and "Father Lucifer").

Choirgirl might be the best Amos book for guitarists - the chord frames offer logical choices, nothing requires a capo (though try first on "Swirl" and fourth on "Black Dove"), and the songs all lend themselves to adaptation. A guitarist who reads a bit of music will be able to incorporate many key riffs or arpeggios that are perfect for guitar or bass (see "iieee," "Playboy Mommy," and "Jackie's Strength"). Inventive players will even be able to adapt songs for solo performance using alternate tunings (try a drop-D variation such as DADGAD for "Hotel").

Choirgirl is perhaps the Tori album that could most benefit from a full score, as it uses her band to the utmost. However, even as just a piano folio it's a strong set of songs that sometimes benefit from careful adaptation. If you're planning to just buy one Tori book based on the strength of the piano transcriptions you may want to opt for Pink, Pele, or Scarlet's before coming back to this one. If you're collecting Tori's entire series of sheet music you should buy it ASAP, as has been out of print for quite some time.

5 out of 5 stars Advanced - beginner, something for the inbetween.......2002-12-18

Although some versions of songs are not as technically sound as Tori herself plays on From the Choirgirl Hotel, the versions provided in this book are very similar to the album versions. For the person who likes to attach phrases to the aural sensation of Tori's music, this book is for you. I myself found some fabulous underlying rhythms to staples of the album that I had never heard before. With Tori's music, you hear things a bit differently each time.

Book includes all the tracks on the album and some vivid imagery as the artwork for it. If you're a Tori fan, consider buying this even just for the glossy photos.

4 out of 5 stars Something's just missing.......2000-05-13

I bought the book expecting to "play like Tori." that was my first mistake. She just goes TOO many places, and that's very noticeable in this book. As has been said before the Piano took a back seat to the other instruments, and so playing without the other instruments just doesn't give the feel; however, it is fun to turn on the CD and play along, especially with Raspberry Swirl. But other than that, there isn't the fluidity that other Tori books have. The chords are so blocky and sustained (ie Jackie's Strength: held bass notes throughout the entire song) that I just couldn't capture what I was looking for. Not my first choice for a Tori sheet music book, but still not a bad buy if you like to play along.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......1999-08-03

Wow is all I can say with this book. Tori is extremely excellent in this book. Some of the songs aren't perfect, but you can really make most sound great! I happen to be a rather good piano player so it is easier on me, but if you are just starting.....then go with 'boys for pele' yet if you are pretty good this is the songbook for you. Her music is really good on the songs 'Spark' and really good on 'Jackie's Strenght'! BUY THIS!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Invaluable for a Tori fan, but slightly incomplete.......2005-06-14

I want to give this book 4 1/2 stars, really, for being SO DARN PRETTY. Leonard is a great artist (just check out his website, herbleonard.com, for more Tori Amos art, Kate Bush art, Peter Gabriel art, and loads more) and captures perfectly the spirit of Tori's music. Each and every work in here is full of tiny details and brings visual clarity to Tori's beautiful chaos. There were only a couple of works here that I disliked...namely, the illustrations for "Cornflake Girl" and "God"--in the "God" painting, it is very obvious that the artist took some not-so-great photos of Tori (from what looks like the MAXIMUM INTERVIEWS photo shoot) and translated them into paintings. In the "Cornflake Girl" painting, the overally effect would have been a little less silly looking if he hadn't taken the work so very, very literally.

I thought that it was fantastic that so many of Tori's works were there (everything from Little Earthquakes to Venus Orbiting, including something like 95% of her B-sides, plus a few unreleased Ellen Amos songs and a few from Y KANT TORI READ--which is, incidentally, not a bad CD at all, and really should be more widely available. Oh, well. Go to hereinmyhead.com to hear some of those songs). I do have a few gripes about the edition--this book is chock-full of typos and misprinted lyrics. I have a first print copy of this book, so possibly these errors have been corrected in subsequent runs.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Have for The Tori Amos Fan!.......2003-07-11

This is possibly the most exciting thing I own from Tori Amos aside from her actual music. There are over 100 different songs displayed for your reading and pondering pleasure. But not only is having most of Tori's lyrics at my fingertips incredibly divine, but Herb Leonhard's illustrations are absolutely extraordinary and take my breath away. He has truly captured Tori's dreamscapes with his art. This is a brilliant marriage of image and idea. Well worth the money! xo

5 out of 5 stars Great book!.......2002-10-24

This book is absolutely beautiful. Not only does it have lyrics to over 100 of Tori's songs, from "Crucify" to "Bells for Her" to "Talula" to "Spark" to "Bliss", it has every song off of all her albums from "Little Earthquakes" to "To venus and back", plus several of her B sides and songs she wrote when she wasn't Tori (i.e. "Just Ellen.") The paintings are absolutely gorgeous, and go well the with songs they accompany (see "Bliss" and "Waitress.") This is a must have for all Tori fans.

3 out of 5 stars Good but..........2002-10-02

... this would be better if there was sheet music to accompany it. I don't just want to read her lyrics; I want to play her music. I think this is a book for Tori Amos fans only.

I was turned off by the price, so I got it for half off used. The artwork is beautiful! The book is very handy for looking up lyrics from a certain song, especially b-sides. The songs are listed in alphabetical order. It is a bright addition to my tori collection.

3 out of 5 stars Not for Piano Pros! Intermediates and Amateurs read on.......2003-01-04

Hmmmmm, tricksy this one. Tori Amos makes me sick. I took piano lessons for like three years and quit because I hated it. But, when you're ten years old and your fat, evil piano teacher slams your finger onto a key yelling "C!C!C!C!C!" when you accidentally played a D, it kind of has a way of ruining the magic of the moment. (She also made luscious smelling cookies all the time, and we had to sit there in our after school hunger and watch as she consumed them one by one) Anyway, Tori "I was playing better piano than you when I was two" Amos was the reason I decided to forget the tyrant Mrs. Evers and take up piano again. I struggle with some things in this book, but I retained enough piano knowledge to get through the majority of her songs. Horses is fun to play, so is the Doughnut Song. Marianne is pretty close to the CD (for all simplified purposes), nothing you can't listen to the song and add to. I have been disappointed with Not the Red Baron, though, because it just doesn't sound right. This book is also generally kind of hard. That could be because I'm not a great piano player and just can't get the flow rght. I would actually suggest getting the Anthology, as it is more simplified and has more variety. The simplification of the transcription in such books can be good and bad, but nothing you can't add to. I think it is better to have it easier to begin with, instead of so complex that it is intimidating. Come on, Tori's music is intimidating enough! For that reason I would suggest the Anthology over this book, at least to start with. Besides, there is so much more to play in it. If you get stuck or discouraged, there are many other songs to play that will boost your confidence, as opposed to this book which is all music from one CD, and one of the stranger Tori CDs at that. I give this book 3.5 stars, and suggest the Anthology. However, if you're just really into Pele and want to play some of the songs, go for it. If all you can do is read and play notes, you can do it. Be confident. Practice one song (Horses!) until you're lost in playing it. Then move on to another (Father Lucifer!). If you can't figure out how it is supposed to sound, put the cd on and listen to that part. Improv if you must! Just don't quit! Before long you'll be throwing your own private piano concert, lost for hours in ethereal Toryland. It's nice to visit her world for a while.

5 out of 5 stars only the best, plays the best.......2001-09-13

Tori Amos is a magnificent piano goddess. I try to play like her all of the time, but I feel like Iam her when I play my piano.
Since I never had the chance to see her in concert I always g online to watch her there. She is amazing. Several years ago at one of my 8th grade talent shows my friend performed "Hey Jupiter" by her. Oh my god she sound just like her. She had excellent props for her performance.
Thats why Iam such a big fan of her music, all for knowing, she plays piano and sings acapella.

5 out of 5 stars A beautiful CD from a beautiful artist.......2001-01-08

All of her music is touching, and this especially so. She is talented both with the composition and the performance, and this is a spendid showpice of her gifts.

i can't tell you how much this has helped my piano skills. or at the very least, my confidence! i was completely amazed when i first bought the book that i was able to play virtually every song in the book without real difficulty.the arrangements seem very true on the piano songs, but on all songs done with harpsichord, half of the notes are missing. i like the fact that the piano part doesn't include the melody line.

4 out of 5 stars Scarlet's Walk in the Park?.......2005-10-10

I am a Toriphile, and have five or six of her music books. I have found that all of them, for ease of publishing and other things, are dumbed down a bit, which is irritating, but for the savvy pianist or computer downloader, you can figure it out. Scarlets walk is not unpleasant. Heavier piano tunes like "Wednesday," "Virginia," and "Gold Dust," are great, but also some of my favorite songs on the piano are not really piano-oriented, like "a sorta fairytale," which is mostly three chords throughout the piece. So be familiar with the album and which pieces you really like before you buy. Great for someone who knows all the words to the album, but for a strict piano composition, try "Under the Pink," or "Little Earthquakes."

4 out of 5 stars Overall a great book with a few disappointments.......2005-08-04

I loved Tori's album "Scarlet's Walk" and could not wait to get the book. Personally, I like to be able to play the songs as much like they sound on the album as possible, so I was happy with this book overall. I know she never arranges every song on the album for accompaniment. A few always have the melody built in to it. The songs that are arranged to sound like the album version are Amber Waves, A Sorta Fairytale, Wednesday, Strange, Carbon, Sweet Sangria, Your Cloud, Pancake, New York, Mrs. Jesus, Scarlet's Walk, Virginia and Gold Dust.
Then Crazy, Vegas, Taxi Ride, and Paradise all have the built in melody and obviously Wampum Prayer is just the vocal line. All in all the arrangements are very good but I was slightly disappointed with how simple Fairytale was, even though it's arranged to sound pretty much just like the album. I was still very happy with the book and definetly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Great book.......2005-06-03

"Scarlet's Walk" is my favorite Tori Amos album to date, so when I stumbled across this book, I had to order it. The cover is nice (same as the album), and there's some nice photos/lyrics in the inside pages.

As for the transcriptions themselves, they're very very good. Let's be real, it's impossible to be 100% accurate, especially with an intricate player like Tori. But all the chords seem accurate, as do the vocal parts.

I've been playing since late 2003, so my sight reading is a bit shakey. However, I know my chords very well, so I can pick up any of these right away (just playing the chords at least). So don't worry if you're not ultra-experienced, because you can still get plenty out of here.

Songs like "Strange", "Crazy", and "Another Girl's Paradise" incorporate the vocal melody in the arrangement itself, and they're not extremely difficult to begin with (helped in part because they were written in three relatively easy key signatures).

Other songs like "Your Cloud" and "A Sorta Fairytale" do not, but it isn't extraordinary difficult to do so either if you know all your chords *and* can play inverted versions of those chords as well.

"Carbon" is probably the trickiest, with it's alternating 6/8 and 7/8 time signature, and many intricies. "I Can't See New York" is obviously lengthy. "Gold Dust" is pretty tough too; I haven't even tackled that one too much!

I also own "Boys For Pele", which is also quality, but this is the better of the two. "Scarlet's Walk" is, IMO, Tori's prettiest sounding album (lots of rich major 7ths and 9ths), so this is a great book to spruce up your repetoir a bit.

Hopefully, they're working on a "Beekeeper" song book as we speak!

5 out of 5 stars THE best transcribed Tori book yet.......2003-12-18

If you're into playing songbooks for their piano value (that is, if you're a genuine pianist who loves Tori's music) this book is for you. Unlike all the previous versions, Tori actually made this one as closely resembling the actual album music as possible. It's more challenging than the others, but at the same time not intimidatingly so.
So if you're looking for a good Tori piano music book, this is the one to choose.

4 out of 5 stars Tori -- Laid Back.......2003-11-28

I could listen to this album whenever I need to relax. It's one of those albums that you can listen to the entire thing & not skip through any songs. It doesn't have the "sing-ability" of some of her others (Under The Pink, etc...), but Tori is forever experimenting with new mediums & integrating them into her amazing fluid style. I keep this in my car & just enjoy the drive as this angel's voice lilts about me...

4 out of 5 stars Plenty to Choose From for Guitar-Playing Fans.......2006-09-02

Tori Amos for Fingerstyle guitar features solo guitar arrangements for most of the singles (and a few other favorites) from 1992's Little Earthquakes through 1998's From the Choirgirl Hotel. At its best the book seamlessly combines standard fingerstyle patterns with Tori's most identifiable riffs. The arrangements are mostly faithful to Tori's piano playing - at no point do they composite vocals into the arrangement as other pop fingerstyle books often do, even on repetitive arrangements

You don't have to own a nylon string (classical) guitar or be a fingerstyle player to enjoy this book, but you do need to be able to read chord frames and tab. The tabs are oversized, and extremely easy to read. Note durations are expressed as stems and dots attached directly to the tabulature numbers (i.e. there is no standard notation corresponding to the tab).

If you aren't much of a fingerpicker your learning curve will be slightly extended as you pick up the basics - like Travis picking and alternate-bass rhumba patterns. Only one song ("China") utilizes strummed chords with any amount of frequency.

Some of the songs are in dropped-D tuning ("Past the Mission," among others), with two other tunings employed ("Caught a Lite Sneeze" in EADF#BE and "Talula" in in DGDGBE). If you want to match pitch against the original recordings and the sample audio CD, you will need a capo. A few songs are in the incorrect key to play along with album versions; both "Icicle" and "Winter" need to be played a half-step under standard, while "Blood Roses" fails to mention that it should be capoed at the 4th fret.

"Talula" is the most aerobic workout in the book, with plenty of sixteenth notes and quick scales. "In the Springtime of His Voodoo" translates perfectly to guitar, as do the classics "Silent All These Years," "Pretty Good Year," and "China." My favorite has always been the first song, "Icicle," which combines an inventive voicing of the song's signature piano line with some challenging plucking during compound time segments. Lest you get too excited, a bouncy version of "Cornflake Girl" does *not* include the full piano solos.

None of the arrangements are "bad," though some of the weaker efforts rely mostly on arpeggios or travis-picked basslines ("Jackie's Strength"), which a skilled player doesn't need a fingerstyle book to figure out. "Spark" is the only true disppointment - it doesn't reflect any of the dischordant keyboard work featured in the song. However, its picking pattterns offer a helpful guide to playing the measures of 7/8 and 9/8 correctly. For slightly more dischord, try replacing all the Ds in the verses with x54030.

There are many wonderful passages that hold up simply as instrumentals, including most of "Winter," the choruses of "Little Earthquakes," and much of challenging "Blood Roses." In the absense of composited vocal melody some of the songs with repetitive parts are more fun if you sing along - even though the arrangements are great. This is especially true on "Caught a Lite Sneeze," which is arranged much better than in the piano sheet, and to a lesser extent on "Black Dove."

The included CD features an abridged version of each arrangement that introduces you to all of the major passages while omitting repeats. It's a little difficult to play along with, but an invaluable tool for a quick review of what you're trying to achieve. The book includes a handy list of how to follow along with each abridged CD tracks.

This book is big success in almost every area - from arrangements to song selection. It only skips three big singles ("Crucify," "God," and "Hey Jupiter") and includes some additional favorites ("Icicle," "Black Dove," "Little Earthquakes"), though it could have featured a few more B-Sides, or at least something less obscure than "Black Swan."

If you are a guitar-playing Tori fan comfortable playing without a pick you will reap hours of enjoyment from these arrangements.

5 out of 5 stars The best buy you can possibly make.......2003-02-15

I've been playing the guitar for about 6 months and when i knew there was a book of Tori's songs for guitar i couldn't wait to get it. The best thing is that i wasn't disappointed. It is very well explained, it's easy, and when you listen to the cd and you get the feeling of how the song should be played is very exciting. With practice i assure you that anyone can learn how to play those songs. I also think the choice of the songs that were transcribed is very good , look for "Cornflake girl"'s version, is so great!!
Anyway i reccomend it very much, i'm sure you wiil enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite of all Tori's songbooks.......2003-04-02

This book was printed after Under The Pink was released, so her later b-sides are not represented here, but this songbook is still a gem. Also Paulina Stuckey's artwork is superb! Tori and her dad chose from among her drawings, and they fit so well with the songs they are paired with. Anyway that's all I'll say since other reviews deal with the music itself and I'd just be repeating..

5 out of 5 stars i like.......1999-10-09

lets see...where do i begin? since i am not a die hard fan of tori amos yet, although i love her very much as a person and a musician, some of the songs were not noticable yet to me. i will learn the song and when i do, i know i'll learn to love 'em. i just got the book today so it'll take while...you know? anyway, my favourites must be kinda "home on the range" (i like it because it's noticable) and i love "black swan". "here in my head" also is nice, but since i'm not the greatest at the piano, and it has 6 flats, i just play the music with the f's #. it's kinda hard at first, but after...man, it's a beautiful song. oh yeah, and if you decide to do it my way, make sure that when there's a natural sign, play the note sharp. you do the math...BOTTOM LINE: GREAT BOOK!

5 out of 5 stars Intricate provocative and true Tori.......1999-03-22

If you have missed the experience of The Bee Sides of Tori Amos this is a fabulous book. It includes the rare and the known. "Here in my Head" "Honey" and "Ode to the Bananna King" are included in the large set list. Here in my Head is especially beautiful and true to Tori's playing.A definite must have for all Tori fans.

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully Transcripted!.......1999-01-17

"Bee Sides" is perhaps the best of the Tori Amos songbooks. For most of us who cannot obtain copies of the out-of-print singles, this book may be the only way to hear her unreleased songs. Edward J. Lozano (project editor) did a remarkable job of setting Tori's music to paper. Especially enjoyable to play are "Honey", "Sister Janet", and "Ode to the Bananna King". You will not be disappointed!
