Not just the Power of Positive Thinking.......2007-10-05
I enjoyed and am still enjoying this book. I reread passages often. This is not just about the Power of Positive Thinking to get what you want specifically. It is a philosophy. Think good thoughts; review your daily events before you sleep; turn around negative events; give thanks for what you do have. People who abide by those ideas will automatically develop a more positive outlook which in turn makes people around them feel better. Like when you're on the road and someone wants to get in front of you, if you wave and let them go, you usually see someone behind you taking up the chain to do the same thing. It's contagious and right-thinking. An EXCELLENT book with great thoughts of many contemporary philosophers and motivational speakers.
Career Training Enhancer.......2007-10-04
Many lives by it. Millions are reading it. The latest self help book claims we can change our lives by thinking. But this 'new thought' may just be another new version of NLP and the power of the subconscious. No matter what, it doesn't hurt to read and apply since all of it is positive. Gave many of it as gifts and even recommending it for my meirc trainees in dubai.
The Only Self Help Book You Will Ever Need.......2007-10-03
I can see why some people wouldn't like this book. Rhonda Byrnes and the other contributers present the ideas so simply that its hard to swallow at first. You think it should be more complicated. But if you can get past that the ideas here are really true. Even more importantly, this is a self help book that really helps. Most books like this leave you feeling okay or hopeful after reading them but this is one you can actually test right after you read it. I did test it and I have already seen results. I know it sounds crazy but it works. Why fight it?
The Secret.......2007-10-03
This book is a sad, desperate philosophy of life- at best. At worst, it is a bizarre way of thinking about the world which leads to feelings of guilt and inadequacy for self and lack of compassion for others.
I know a woman, still reeling from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, who devotes herself to the Laws of Attraction and believes she attracted it into her life. How sad! And how arrogant! I am confident that not all victims of Katrina would agree that they "attracted" a natural disaster to themselves. And I don't believe the woman practicing 'the secret' is more powerful than the cumulative total of the other victims- who did NOT attract a hurricane into their lives!
Few people would dispute the idea that healthy attitudes are a classy and beneficial thing. But to say that we all attract that which we have is ridiculous. So the cancer patient and mother of a murdered child should have paid more attention to what they were attracting to themselves so that they wouldn't be dealing with their hardship now? Wow. Who wants to associate with these idiots? Forget The Secret. Don't make these hucksters any richer. Buy instead Barbara Sher's books on how to find success with supportive people. And if you have a good attitude and still got hit with some of life's hard curve balls, don't spend a moment feeling inadequate because you didn't do "the secret" right! Read instead When Good Things Happen to Bad People, by a very kind, much wiser person. Who, by the way is also wealthy and happy.
Old News to Many, but a Well-Packaged Piece. Has a Generous Following........2007-10-03
I remember watching this movie with my progressive university campus church and feeling almost bored out of my mind. This movie seemed to be telling me many things I've already heard. Or, DID I hear them? You, see, the only reason why the information came across as quite basic and trite to me is because I've already been living out its principles in my daily life, sometimes unknowingly. I don't remember exactly where I got them from. Maybe I knew them all along or had them as a part of my inner being. I have used "the secret" as revealed in this film (no, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it) and it does indeed work, but I found that it was nothing to be amazed about.
What felt weirdest to me was that people were utterly crazed about this film. I could tell that they were be honest about it being eye-opening. I kind of found myself laughing inside, but then wiped the smirk off of my face when I realized that such just meant that I had been very fortunate in life to discover the tiny bits of wisdom talked about in this film and such may have not been so "obvious" to everyone.
My rating is not on the content of the "secret" contained in this film itself, as it would be unfair to judge this film in such light, considering that I already knew and had been introduced to much of what it had to offer. Rather, I give it three stars for the packaging and delivery of the message. The film is effective and certainly makes use of several notable experts. It's colorful and will keep people tuned in. It appeals to a broad audience and isn't too preachy.
The film could have been a little shorter, as the message is a bit redundant, but I'm sure if it had been then people would complain that it's "too short". I don't think it's fair to rate this film with one star, because it wasn't "horrible" and a "total waste" of minutes from my life. But, I also don't think this film is "ground-breaking" or worthy enough for a four- or five-star rating. Three stars sounds about right.

Good for class..........2007-09-30
I would have never looked at this book before i needed it for class, but it is a good source for preparing for any type of public speaking occasion. It is truly helpful. The text has examples and the examples of speeches are usually also in video form on the CD's that come with the text. Also, there are CD's so that you can listen to the chapter (in your car) for example. I personally read each chapter and used the CD's for extra review... Good source for Public Speaking classes, or preparing for any type of presentation.

Books are great..........2006-11-21
I have all the parts (Fellowship of the ring, Return of the King & The Two Towers). I have loved the audiobooks.
I only have 1 problem with the audiobooks and that is when I converted the discs so I could listen to them on my ipod, the names of each track varied.
On some it ists the name of teh chapter and followed by a number(part of the chapter, others it names the book and the track number without the chapter title name, and on others it says the track number...
They should have been consistent with the track names.
Lord of the Rings for car trips?.......2006-11-19
It's hard to add more than other reviewers have done. Most of the comments are right-on, but I think it's nice for a potential buyer to hear a lot of people voicing their opinions. This is a long set but perfect for a devoted fan. I love listening to it while doing other things or in the car on the way to work, probably also for an airplane. Rob Inglis did a great job, and while a few of the female voices are a bit odd, you soon forget about such things when you get wrapped up in the story.
He adds the right emphasis to the right parts and I think his voice is well-suited to this work. For hardcore LotR fans, it's hard to find something that meets our high expectations as this is a simply amazing work of art that will last for years - it's hard to find a voice that meets every (somewhat unreal, I think) expectation. But Rob Inglis comes extremely close.
It's a Good buy.......2006-06-03
It is a nice audio book. It does have it's flaws though.
1. It does not offer maps or any drawings. I have searched online for some, but only find blurry copies. Considering the maps and drawings are held so highly in admiration... it kinda sucks not to have them
2. the acting of the narrator is not the greatest. There were parts when the book notes "he yells" and the narrator speaks in a calm and clear character voice. It's kind of funny sometimes.
3. many of the narrator's "attempted" character voices sound alike. All the elf kind sound the same, even the women sound like males. All the hobbits pretty much sound the same, except Sam who has this manly deep voice, which often sounds like Aragon. Often the narrator accidentally mergers one character voice into another by accident. So a hobbit will be speaking then all the sudden he sounds like Aragon or Gandolf.
But outside of that the audio book is great. These "problems" are small. Since the un-abridged reading offers the names of who is talking and their emotions that go along with it, you can make out the story just fine. It just takes a little more imagination and you can alter their voices in your head to sound like what you want to hear. I would highly reccomend it, that is until someone figures out they can get a better actor or has the mind to hire multiple actors to fulfill the part.
There is nothing funnier than hearing a deep manly voice trying to immitate a woman singing
Brilliant, and well worth the money!.......2006-04-15
I am not a "Total Ringophile", like some out there, but I have read the books three times and loved them. I lashed out and purchased this 46 CD set as I spend a lot of time on the commute to work. It is brilliant! Each CD has approx 15 "tracks" on it so that if you miss a bit as your mind wanders (as it does in the car..) you can just bounce back one track and hear that bit again, no problems. Rob Inglis does a great job, no question. It has added a new dimension to my experince of Tolkien's masterpiece, and I highly recommend it to all. BRILLIANT !
Ingles does a fantastic job.......2005-11-26
I did not realize what a wonderful job that Ingles had done in this reading until I began listening to other audio books. Ingles manages to give each character a distinct voice and as you proceed, you recognize immediately who it is that is speaking.
After many years, Tolkien's work stands alone as the only sci-fi/fantasy story that puts the subtlety of language and culture equal to, if not above, the drama. Ingles interesting voices and care with the language of Tolkien make this a most worthy represenation of the timeless classic.
Product Description
Learning Spanish Like Crazy was developed to teach conversational Latin American Spanish. The course was developed after the Founder of the course realized that the Spanish that Latin American actually speak was different from the Spanish that he had learned from other self-study Spanish courses. Unlike many other Spanish courses, Learning Spanish Like Crazy teaches you how to speak "spoken" Latin American Spanish as opposed to "textbook" or formal Spanish. The course is all audio. This is the first in the series of three levels of Spanish. The first level will take the student from beginner to lower intermediate level. The other two levels are still under development by the company. As a special bonus gift for Amazon customers, the customers are given access to re-mastered downloadable copies of the complete FSI Spanish Level III and FSI Spanish Level IV.

Excellent product.......2007-09-07
I have used several means and methods attempting to learn Spanish over the last 10 years. This method seems to be working the best. I very much like the audio concept. After listening several times to a lesson, I follow-up with the transcript. Now, for the first time, I find myself gaining confidence that I will actually learn to speak Spanish.
Great Spanish Language CDS.......2007-08-12
These CDs have helped me remember Spanish that I have had before and have helped me with both by pronouciation and speaking in a way that college Spanish did not.
Nice product - great for filling 'gaps'.......2007-05-23
I bought the product last year and have completed all of the lessons. Trust me - I agree with several of the other reviewers that it is really a great tool - if not the best that I've come across for dealing with everyday conversation. Being a very skeptical person with stuff like this, I admit that this is the only audio course that I have bought, and honestly don't think I'll purchase others. I did a lot of research before I tried the LSLC Level 1 system.
I live in Trinidad and Tobago (unlike any of the other reviewers that I have seen so far). TnT is located just 9km (about 5-6 miles) off of the coast of Venezuela, and 99.5% of the population here knows just a handful of Spanish words. After taking a course at the Venezuelan Embassy here for two years, I still found it quite difficult to understand them when they spoke - especially among themselves! I can read and write it quite well, but still had great difficulty understanding the natives. After studying the first maybe 14 lessons, I visited some friends of mine over there in December, and to my surprise I understood them a heck of a lot more. By the way, these folks speak much faster than Mexicans and Colombians in normal conversation - particularly those from the Eastern part of the country, so most of you have virtually no stress, since most Americans interact with Mexicans or Puerto Ricans. Try conversing with someone from Guiria, Venezuela too see what I'm talking about! The Mexicans I have interacted with speak very clearly compared to most Venezuelans - and the accent is easier to understand. Of course the LSLC instructors were quite easy to understand, and YEAH - it's a CD, so you don't have to ask them to say something again!
I would recommend the course for anyone, but would like to sort of categorize it (hope it helps somewhat):
- Beginners: You need some good reference material and a tutor to work with, alongside the course. The course is not ALL! 501 Spanish Verbs by Christopher Kendris, and Dorothy Richmond's 'Practice Makes Perfect' series of workbooks - these are GREAT! A good dictionary such as the Oxford Spanish Dictionary is a must. NOT a pocket dictionary - at least not for serious learners. The Oxford is bulky, but it contains many idiomatic explanations and context-based translations for virtually all the words it contains, along with explanations of the nuances of using certain words - again, in context. Regional differences are well-covered in this dictionary. There is no dictionary out there that comes close - although the latest Collin's tries really hard. I have lots of reference books, but I have found these outstanding in building stuff clearly so one could understand without boring drills.
- Intermediate: I think the best way to treat this is to relate my own experience. This course helped me to fill the gaps in my understanding of certain annoying things that you don't see in texts and that are not found in other audio courses - stuff like '¿Como?' meaning 'What was that?' or 'What did you say?' in English, clearly explained. Before, I used to say '¿Qué?' and any native speaker would look at me kind of funny, but I never knew my (potentially rude) error until I used the course material in Nivel 1. You can find yourself in some embarassing positions if stuff like that is missed in your speech. I did learn a lot of new stuff with the course as well, such as a few idiomatic expressions that you can't really translate directly. And yes - your accent becomes really HOT! My friends told me they were amazed at how I sounded when I visited. Of course I felt great, even though I knew that I still have much more work to do.
- Advanced: Heck, you don't really need this stuff - this is for newbies and the peeps like me who are still striving toward fluency! Anyway, I think that even advanced non-native speakers may pick up something small in here, maybe as revision or something.
Dive in, folks. For those of you who have used the more antiquated products that focus on mainland (Spain) Spanish, you'll really appreciate this stuff. The use of different people from at least two countries really helps you differentiate the accents. Remember, my problem was lack of listening skill (and still is to a great extent), so that's how I addressed it. LSLC allows you to attack both speaking and listening at the same time, so if they're your squeeze, get the course. The FSI material included is wonderful for rigorous reinforcement, but it's not as much fun as the LSLC. It's actually quite mechanical, BUT has serious material, so it should be used too.
Hey, a tip I have tried is to buy some music in at least one genre that you really love, performed strictly in Spanish, and listen to it over and over. You will be amazed at how well your listening will improve and you'll be checking that dictionary pretty often too. I have several albums that I listen to, and I tell you - they've helped plenty. This also seems to reinforce your ability to hear words slumped together as individual or logical groups, and at least for me, allows you to start to figure out missed or unclear words based on the other words around them.
Now handle yuh scene!
Sweet TnT!!
BEST audio lessons I have tried.......2007-05-15
As someone who has picked up quite a bit of Spanish through contacts with friends, work, and general American culture. I even lived in Brazil and learned pretty good Portuguese -- but I never took a "real" course in Spanish, so I regularly make silly mistakes of conjugation or word agreement (gender or number). I have tried some tapes, cds, and the Pimsleur program (TOO SLOW) and books, all to minor improvement.
This course is PERFECT for me! This past weekend I plowed through 12 lessons, picking up all these little rules that I missed along the way. I can go through each lesson in sequence and not feel like I'm rehashing too much, while still reinforcing previous lessons that just roll off the tongue! I think of the hundreds/thousands of dollars I have spent over 20 years and wish I had this program available to me years ago.
Meanwhile, I just ordered Vol. 2 -- between these two volumes and the FSI materials (definitely worth buying w/ Amazon benefits), I only have myself to blame, but one week later, I'm feeling confident I'll get through this program!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST AND EASIEST.......2007-05-09
Thanks to a review by Anna Rivera and a lot of other research, I bought these CDs. I have had 2 years of high school Spanish, 12 weeks of an immersion course and 2 weeks of immersion in living with a Mexican family in Cuernavaca. I have learned more with these CDs than I thought was possible. Please read Anna's review and ditto from me.
"As the editor of the Learning Spanish Products Reviews (LearningSpanishProductsReviews) site, one of my responsibilities is to review Spanish courses that are listed on Amazon. I am also a native Spanish speaker from Argentina and a professional private Spanish instructor.
I have recommended this course to at least a dozen of my private students. I had recommended it to a married couple that has studied Spanish for years and was finding it easy to read and write in Spanish and even understand the novelas, but was having difficulty speaking it. After several weeks of daily practice with this course, they are speaking Spanish much better and with a lot more confidence.
As several reviewers have pointed out, this course uses a teaching method that makes it possible for the student to really get a true Latin American Spanish accent. As a Spanish instructor I am very tolerant of students that have poor pronunciation or bad accents in Spanish. But as a native Spanish speaker, I can tell you that there is nothing more annoying than someone that has taken the time to learn proper Spanish vocabulary and grammar but has neglected to learn the proper pronunciation and accent. If you fall into that category, please give this course a try so you can get your Latin American Spanish accent right.
The sound quality of the lessons is also excellent. And to develop proper pronunciation and accent, you really need good sound quality like this course has. I was also impressed with the amount of content that the course covers.
As a native Spanish speaker, I can say that this course comes closer than other courses in teaching Latin American Spanish that is for everyday conversation, and teaching the Spanish that Latin Americans actually speak. Although I have not personally experienced them, one of my students told me that the course also includes a live weekly group class by telephone with a native instructor from Costa Rica. The students on the group class call and speak in Spanish to each other and the instructor in Spanish.
Without a doubt, this is the best course for learning true Latin American conversational Spanish. And also the best for refining a proper sounding Latin American accent."

Excellent choice and explanation of idioms.......2007-06-01
Being a non-native speaker who has lived in US for over 10 years, I've heard of many of the idioms in this book at work, on TV and in every day conversations. I didn't know what some of the idioms mean exactly until I read them in this book. I think the book is very useful for immigrants like me or simply anybody who would like to learn American English.
Homeowner.......2007-02-21
Excellent with a great many up-to-date expressions and words. CDs let you listen while doing other things. The book allows one to read what is on the CDs.
Unexpectable.......2007-01-10
I didn't expect i would have a great book to improve my English.
I'm in my home country now so I've got going on studying since one an half month . It has 25 lessons and I'm on 12th. I can't wait to skip for the next one because I wonder what's going to happen in subject. But I know I need to consume each lesson. The fiction is really set successfully.
I listen to its CD and my pronunciation has already improved.
I appreciate the edition and the author.

PS: sorry about my English if I've done something wrong:)
Speak English Like an American.......2007-01-10
One of the best idiom books out there, and I've tried quite a few. The stories are entertaining and most of the idioms are very common.
Excellent.......2006-06-02
I am really amazed of how much idioms and colloquial expressions you can learn just by listening to the CD. And guess what - these are idioms and phrases you REALLY hear everyday on the street, used by most people in everyday situations. Before, my English sounded a bit "artificial" and somehow forced. Now, the more I used the idioms I learnt here, the more natural and even friendly I sound to the native speakers.
Buy it, it's totally cheap for what it does!
Book Description
Intention is generally viewed as a pit-bull kind of determination propelling one to succeed at all costs by never giving up on an inner picture. In this view, an attitude that combines hard work with an indefatigable drive toward excellence is the way to succeed. However, intention is viewed very differently in this book. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has researched intention as a force in the universe that allows the act of creation to take place. This audio program explores intentionnot as something you dobut as an energy you're a part of. We're all intended here through the invisible power of intention. This is the first book to look at intention as a field of energy that you can access to begin co-creating your life with the power of intention.
Part I deals with the principles of intention, offering true stories and examples on ways to make the connection. Dr. Dyer identifies the attributes of the all-creating universal mind of intention as creative, kind, loving, beautiful, expanding, endlessly abundant, and receptive, explaining the importance of emulating this source of creativity. In Part II, Dr. Dyer offers an intention guide with specific ways to apply the co-creating principles in daily life. Part III is an exhilarating description of Dr. Dyer's vision of a world in harmony with the universal mind of intention.

Dr. Wayne Dyer's take on the Law of Attraction.......2007-03-30
I love listening to Dr Wayne Dyer. Unlike a lot of audio recordings with authors that have voices that can put you to sleep, Dyer has the ability to entertain and engage the listener with every word he speaks. The Power of Intention, like the book outlines how you can change your energy to attract the things you want in your life. This CD inspires me and lifts my energy vibration everytime I hear it. There is much to absorb and much to learn from this recording. Highly recommended.
The Power of Intetion Empowers You.......2007-03-22
There is something so empowering when you listen to these cd's. It's nourishing to the soul to know that you are a part of something great and that you can align yourself with this greatness! I loved these cd's.

Star radio storyteller David Sedaris presents his collected works in one audio box set. The longest (at five hours) is his latest, Me Talk Pretty One Day, which contains two live performances from San Francisco. Welcome to a world where dogs outrank children, guitars have breasts, and Sedaris's fellow language-class students try to convey the concept of Easter to a Moroccan Muslim in their fledgling French (translated into English): "It is a party for the little boy of God," says one. "Then he be die one day on two ... morsels of ... lumber," says another. Sedaris is hilarious, and his Billie Holiday impression is amazing.
The three-hour, Christmas-themed Holidays on Ice is the gem of the collection. It has his greatest hit, "SantaLand Diaries," a chronicle of his stint as an elf at Macy's, covering everything from the preliminary group lectures ("You are not a dancer. If you were a real dancer you wouldn't be here. You're an elf and you're going to wear panties like an elf.") to the perils of inter-elf flirtation. Other hits feature the crazed newsletter "Season's Greetings to Our Friends and Family!!!" and the prostitute coworker his sister brought home one Yuletide, giving "the phrase 'ho, ho, ho' whole different meaning." Barrel Fever contains the fulminatingly funny "Glen's Homophobia Newsletter, Vol. 3, No. 2" and "Parade," discussing the narrator's perhaps not fully plausible gay relationships with Bruce Springsteen, Mike Tyson, and Peter Jennings. Naked describes his adventures in a nudist colony, but his family tales are, as ever, nonpareil.
Book Description
All of David Sedaris' best in one box set, now on CD and at 20% off the combined CD prices of individual titles! The set includes ME TALK PRETTY ONE DAY with a full hour of bonus tracks not available on cassette; NAKED; HOLIDAYS ON ICE; and BARREL FEVER AND OTHER STORIES. Could use more "live" tracks.......2007-04-04
David Sedaris is truly one of my favorite authors and I love to read his work. However, if you have never HEARD Mr. Sedaris' voice before, it takes some getting used to. At first it is almost painful to listen to because his voice is so... so... um... he sounds like Woody Allen doing a Woody Allen imitation.
Nevertheless, his live tracks are hilarious - a little less "in the microphone," if you will. If I could read and drive at the same time on my long business trips, that would be my preferred method of receiving David Sedaris' material.
Hilarious.......2006-08-29
I would've given it 5 stars but it should get about 4.8 stars.
This is a brilliant idea. For people like me who get too easily distracted to read for entertainment, hearing it being read for you is so much better.
And the material David has is great. I first learned about David by way of his sister's work on Strangers with Candy, and got a book after I saw David on Letterman. And then I remembered I get too distracted when reading for fun, which has been a life long deal. So I got this on audio and it is a blast.
Lost in Translation..........2006-06-12
While it's great hearing David Sedaris' voice, it ultimately takes away from the experience. Sedaris' books are amazingly funny and dark; very witty stuff. They are best enjoyed in print form though, when the reader can inject their own tone and inflection into the words of the printed page. Hearing David Sedaris' interpretation somewhat lessens this experience.
However, if you're the kind of person who wants to enjoy a good book without the "hassle" of actually mustering the discipline to sit down and read (you people know who you are) then go ahead. But for all those half way intelligent humans who recognize the value of taking the time to sit down and turn the pages, just go buy his books and skip the audio versions. It's cheaper anyways.
In the end, while good, it's not worth it. Just buy the books.
How Can You Beat This Price?.......2006-04-17
As a big fan of David Sedaris, I have loved listening to him read his stories on NPR even more than I have enjoyed reading his books. While I had wanted to purchase some of the audiobooks, they always seemed so pricy.
When I saw this box set on Amazon, I immediately added it to my wishlist. The quantity of stories and books in the set is amazing! I received it for Christmas and have been listening to it ever since.
My only qualm is that all of the packaging is cardboard, as opposed to traditional plastic jewel cases, so the box holding all the CD's has suffered some wear and tear over the months, but nothing too significant.
WOW.......2006-04-03
David Sedaris can take the simplest thing or situation most common, and make it relevant, important and funny as hell. This is why we, as humans, have language.

Book Description
Like its predecessors, the seventh edition of this text reflects Rick Schaefer's mission to bring readers a comprehensive, up-to-date presentation that teaches them how to think critically about society and their own lives from a wide range of classical and contemporary perspectives. Combining balanced coverage of theory with current research findings, distinctive social policy sections, examples of interest to students, and abundant learning aids and exercises, this text will help students develop a sociological imagination. An optional package combines Schaefer, Sociology, Seventh Edition and Reel Society Interactive Movie 2.0 CD-ROM at nominal extra cost.
"The introductory sociology class provides the ideal laboratory in which to study our own society and those of our global neighbors. The distinctive emphasis on social policy found in this text shows students how to use the sociological imagination in examining such public policy issues as sexual harassment, the AIDS crisis, welfare reform, the death penalty, and the offshoring of service jobs." Richard T. Schaefer

Sociology book.......2007-09-09
The book is new but it didn't come with a CD. When the information comes up it says it was "with audio Abridgement CD - Rom..."", only the owner said it wasn't part, so I didn't read it all and thought I was buing something with CR-Rom. You should always read how Amazon says about the product and what the owners says. I had to different information about the same product
Sociology: A Brief Introduction w/Audio.......2007-07-10
This product came to me in a timely fashion and I was prepared to start my class.
Great Sociology Book.......2007-01-23
When I bought this book I was a Sociology major. Since then I have changed my major, but I will keep this book forever. Although we were assigned readings in class, I rarely did so, but when I did I was intrigued. This is a well written easy to follow book. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who is even slightly interested in Sociology or studying sociology. The author doesn't bury the reader with useless fluff or try to drown you in big technical wording. This book starts out by giving the background of sociology and a brief bio of the initial major contributors in the field. I haven't gotten rid of this book because when I decide to MAKE time to read, I will read this again. It's got my vote.
Excellent Service.......2006-03-18
I have received my item very quickly and it was brand new as it was described. Thanks a lot :-)
Refrain From Using This Book.......2005-04-07
I am a college student. go through about 9-12 textbooks per year. There are textbooks that I don't mind reading for class yet very rarely do I find a book that is just plain bad like this one. I own the newest edition (6th) of Schaefer's Sociology: A Brief Introduction and I plead teachers and professors out there NOT to use it. Despite being the 6th edition and costing around $70 for a new copy in bookstores, the book seemed unpolished, incohesive, and very confusing.
Everyday I have around 20 pages to read for every one of my class and guess which one I put off until last? If you guessed Sociology: A Brief Introduction, you are correct. Even after reading the book carefully and highlighting, I can't seem to grasp the information very well. The facts and information seem to be randomly toss at me out of no where. There is no organization in the text. A very painful read. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS BOOK IN THE CLASSROOM.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Series.......2007-09-02
This is an imaginative and wonderful series. C.S. Lewis is really a creative author. I love it that they are Christian stories. Each one is different from the others and yet they are all great. I was so sorry to get to the last one. The readers for the series are also very good. It is very important that the reader be enthusiastic and talented. A good book can be ruined by a poor reader. I highly recommend this series for children and adults. It is a series that will be listened to over and over again. These are great in the car for long rides. ENJOY!
Superb Collection.......2007-08-07
I had only read two or three of the Narnia stories before picking up the audio CDs. I found that reading the stories to myself was somewhat less than captivating. The audio CDs, however, were quite the opposite. I have come to the conclusion that these stories were meant to be read out loud. This collection has a wonderful cast of narrators that present the stories perfectly.
Awesome Audio Book Set.......2007-01-18
I am so pleased with the book set on CD's. I don't care to read very often & since I am a home health nurse I'm in my car alot. Books on CD are very entertaining for us folks on the road. I'd recommend this set to everyone! I saw the movie before I got this set which is what perked my interest in Narnia. I'm 35y/o & I loved it! I'm finishing up the last book now. I'm sad that it's ending though it's kept me entertained for over a month. (I did have a little trouble following the directions to my patients houses because I was so into the stories, oops!).
Great Find.......2007-01-10
We really enjoyed the different readers for each of the seven stories. I'll never get used to people re-arranging them into chronological order, but that is easly fixed. The only real issue I have is Patrick Stewart reading "The Last Battle". I kept thinking that Aslan was going to beam them up. Otherwise, they are great fun and especially good for long car rides.
Great audiobooks!.......2006-11-21
My husband and I absolutely LOVE this set of The Chronicles of Narnia audiobooks. The stories are all read by actors who do an amazing job of giving special voices to the characters and who paint pictures of what is happening in the stories by the way they read the books. I can't imagine that I could like a movie rendition, or even an audio dramatized version of these stories more than these audio books that are simply read in their entirety. They're captivating! I really like that you get the REAL story - it hasn't been changed and nothing has been deleted for the sake of filming or making it dramatic. And you still get to use your imagination to create the scenes in your mind. We don't have any children yet, but when we do, we will definitely listen to these with our kids.
