Book Description
Catchy melodies, drill and student involvement make multiplication tables to twelve very memorable. A complement of self quizzing music tracks allows students to quiz themselves.

I can't find quality skip counting music.......2007-04-26
I am a second grade teacher, and I'm introducing multiplication. I have been searching for a math cassette or CD to help make learning multiplication fun. At this stage I am more interested in the kids learning to count by 2s, 3s,...12s, and making the connection that way. I am looking for music that includes skip counting. Does this cassette include this, and not just times tables? I previously purchased a CD that sang random times tables, and it lacked quality. I don't want to get burned again.
Why Didn't I Buy It Before!?!?!.......2007-03-14
Great! My kids are finally learning the multiplications facts!!!!!!!!!
Some times I find myself singing them too!
It worked, not as planned, but worked.......2006-07-24
I bought this CD for my 9 year old nephew and I have to be honest that he hated it. BUT it still worked, I told him to learn them and we'd quit listening to the CD and he learned at lightening speed just to get away from it. The tunes can be a little folksy but I thought it was a good way to learn and it does stick in your head.
The BEST one!.......2006-03-26
I bought several Multiplication CD's and this was absolutely the best one. It includes skip counting which really has helped my daughter learn her multiplication facts. Buy this one!
Great for Kids!.......2005-08-02
My child has a processing disorder which make math extremely difficult. She has always been able to learn song lyrics easily, and this CD was no exception. Kids in 2nd grade can get a great start to 3rd grade math by learning to count by multiples of numbers 2 through 12. I would definitely recommend to all kids, especially those who like music, but not learning basic multiplication.
Book Description
Introduced in 1976, The Music Kit was the first to offer students an integrated learning environment for the fundamentals course. By encouraging students to be active learners and providing for varied learning styles, The Music Kit has continued to foster the development and mastery of the basic skills needed for further study in music. Students perform frequent exercises, listen to music while examining music scores, tap or clap along to recorded rhythms, and complete computerized tutorials, drills, quizzes, and ear training exercises that return personalized feedback and scores.
New to the Fourth Edition:
New Focus on Aural Skills
A complete, parallel course for elementary sight singing has been integrated into The Music Kit for the first time. Several new types of sight-singing exercises appear in the Rhythm Reader, and the most popular sight-singing methods are introduced in the Workbook. In addition, the Scorebook melodies have been ordered to accommodate a basic sight-singing curriculum, progressing from simple major to natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor, pentatonic, and other modes.
New End-of-Chapter Exercises in the Workbook
Review exercises at the end of every chapter reinforce those within the chapter and provide the synthesis necessary for mastering concepts. Exercises can be pulled out and submitted to the instructor.
Fully-tracked Audio CD
Fresh new digital recordings of the core rhythms employ a wide variety of percussion sounds. In addition, recordings of the twelve Scorebook pieces exemplify the different performance styles of folk, classical, pop, and jazz music.

meh........2007-09-28
i received the Music Kit promptly in the mail and in new condition like it said in the details. the only thing i missed out on was the CD-ROM that i thought was suppose to come with it. But apparently you need to look for the words "Computer Assisted Version" when ordering this book.
i just wish i knew that before ordering this book.
other than that i give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
THANKS AMAZON!
(wow this is the most boring thing i've done all day and its only 8:30am)
The Music Kit--Nice item!!!!.......2006-03-21
Good book. Does a very good job of explaining concepts and methods, especially to someone new to music theory.
A good Introductory Theory Text.......2004-01-06
This book was used in my Introduction to Music Theory class which was the entry level music theory class for music majors at Fullerton College.IN the class we covered up to chapter ten so becuase we would cover the material for the rest of the book in our next semester music theory course which is called "Harmony I". I think it did a good job at providing the essentials and basics of music theory. THe book was not boring and provided in a very interactive way. The book goest from the very rudiments to some of the topics found in first year harmony. This book also did a great job at introducing elementary sight-singing using several methods based on the instructors choice. I think the book should include elementary ear training so that the book would be complete. It did a good job of introducing rythms from easy to more complex. This book should provide a proper foundation for students who are advancing to high studies of music theory and muscianship. This book was easy to understand for the most part and did not go into scholary jargon. I would reccoment this text to anyone who wants a proper foundation of music theory. This book was very well written.
Book Description
* Mashups are the computer-assisted blending of two pieces of music, usually from different genres, into one new, hot sound; perhaps rap/rock or R&B/pop
* Successful mashups require skilled use of digital audio software, often with many tracks; this book gives the aspiring mashup artist the first definitive guide to both the technology and the technique
* Explains the various mashup formulas, how to find and mix the right tracks or create your own, how to match or tweak keys and tempos, tips for mastering effects and mixing with audio software, and techniques for extracting vocals
* Examines the legal considerations mashup artists need to consider
* CD-ROM includes all necessary software for PC as well as music samples used in lessons in the book, allowing readers to "listen along" as a mashup is constructed
Customer Reviews:
Good book on Mashup creation! 3.75 stars ;-).......2007-08-23
This is a good book by a fairly accomplished Mashup creator. If you haven't heard of Mashups then you've been missing something wonderful. Mashups when created by talented musicians/djs who understand music theory and beat matching are wonderful. Bad mashups are horrible to listen to. This book takes you a long way to making great mashups and I very much liked the chapter on choosing songs (even though I already understand musical keys and tempos). The Excel spreadsheet templates and key matching templates were helpful and great musical refreshers which helped me create my own database of songs to mashup from my collection.
DJ Earworm's chapter on choosing songs was great - and the freeware tONaRT and aufTAKT (which you can throw a WAV file at and have it auto-detect the musical key and tempo in beats per minute) on the book's CD were awesome finds almost worth the price of the book themselves and they're great time savers in choosing tunes to mashup!
The only thing not making this book great is that it too heavily focuses on the specific software Acid Pro. I actually may not have purchased it if I knew that initially - though I'm glad I got it anyway. I just use other softwave like Sonar and Audition and Sound Forge so the pages on Acid specific stuff I just skimmed over. Even though it used Acid as an example, there was plenty to sink your teeth into in this book. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to create decent mashups!

Book Description
Imagine yourself onstage with your band. As the band plays, the crowd moves to the rhythm - your rhythm. The rhythm that you feel in your bones and set loose on the crowd. Drummers aren't front and center. They're not often the face of the band. Instead, they are its heart. It's the drummer who sets the pace and keeps the song on track. Picture Yourself Drumming is an easy-to-follow, visual guide that will help you tackle the basic skills you need to someday control that crowd with your own driving beat. If you have some natural rhythm, a set of sticks, and a desire to become a drummer, then this book was written for you. The accompanying DVD includes tips for a variety of drumming techniques as well as coaching sessions and step-by-step instructions for setting up each piece of your new drum kit.

Best Drum book ever written!.......2007-02-08
I must concur w/ reviewer Bobo Nadrumbo; this book should be sold w/ every drum kit sold. Had I owned this instructional manual 40 years ago I might not have given up the drums and picked up the bass, even if I had still made the switch I would have experienced far less frustration moving from the marching snare to a full kit. It's straightforward, humorous, and practical too a fault in both musical and mechanical content. I've performed w/ Jon Peckman and I can tell you he definetely knows the drums. As a teacher myself I can tell you after reading this book and watching the DVD he also apparently knows how to breathe life into what is often an uninspriing dry academic subject. This is practical application that won't put you to sleep and will make you a happier and better drummer quickly if you put in the time.....and your bassist will thank you for buying it if no-one else does.
Picture yourself succeeding!.......2007-02-03
My brother bought this book for my son and I. we have both been studying it and have found it to be the most comprehensive starter instructional book out there. This really covers the nuts and bolts of getting started on a drum kit, both the mechanical aspects of setting up the equipment and the musical aspects of how to make music on the kit. It should be mandatory with every drum kit sold to an aspiring drummer. I think it will help many new drummers get a solid start on the kit rather then the usual frustration encountered. I highly recomend it.

Not bad, I guess.......2000-11-04
It's been a while since I've used this book - I borrowed and used it for a few months a few years ago, when I first started teaching and had almost no other resources. I did not like it enough to buy my own copy.
This is maybe a little better than some other books I've seen, but I don't seem to like *any* pre-made worksheets. The idea of notes "spelling words" strikes me as pedagogically flawed, and the ways of explaining rhythm are very dry and meaningless and don't seem to help students, in my opinion. I've seen so many students who have had music for years and yet have no idea what the difference between a half note and quarter note are. Kind of makes you wonder what we're doing wrong.
Anyway, now I personally create all my worksheets for all grades and find that the amount of learning is much greater.
One other point, although I'm not absolutely positive it was this book, I think it was: when I was first teaching, one day I needed a warm-up worksheet and was in a hurry. I quickly flipped through this book (I think) and xeroxed a sheet about spelling words with notes on the clef. When my middle schoolers completed it, I was stunned and embarrassed to realize that one of the words was "Fagged"! Needless to say, some of my eighth graders did not handle it very well. So watch out for that one!
Pluses and Minuses.......2000-05-15
First the pluses, Progress chart, great for tracking students progress. Everything is divided into concepts. Concepts progress in a logical manner. Answer key is in a handy place. Minuses, some of the questions are not presented in a consistent manner. For instance, when comparing whole note values to those that are smaller the question should have always read "The tone of a whole note is ___ times as long as the tone of a quarter note." Then Half note is __ as long as a whole note" In my experience students understood better when the larger note value was placed first. It is also confusing when the answer is sometimes a fraction and sometimes a whole number. Some terminology may need to be changed if you only use the word tone for the sound of a note and not it's duration. Overall a valuable resource, I mean, who wants to reinvent the wheel when Ms. Adair has done such a good job?
Great Resource!.......2000-02-03
This book is a Music Teacher's dream! No matter what concept you're teaching, this book always seems to have an activity to reinforce what you've taught, and see if it is being understood! Very Useful!
Why can't I use it?.......1999-12-10
As a beginner at the piano I thought this book could help me, since it is a "teaching" book. After getting part way thought this "thick" spiral bound book I found things in the book went beyond the beginners' understanding. Beginners can gain something from the book if they use it as a suppliment to a more basic book. It is not for beginners trying to learn on their own.
Perfect for any music teacher!!!.......1999-04-17
If you're a music teacher, just starting out or already a seasoned campaigner, you will sympathize with not being able to find just the theory and note speller books that you would like for your students. This book is exactly what you need!

My father bought it on Amazon.com and when it arrived, I was so excited! It came with a poster so you could write down the time and the other info. The kit also included six play scripts, a production guide That included a "make-your-own program" on the back cover, and 20 tickets. The play was about a bored girl who went out with her puppy and they meet an alien director who wants to film a movie about earth.
