3 out of 5 stars Hole's Anatomy & Physiology.......2006-03-20

I ordered this text book through Amazon because the school book store was out. In my past experiences with Amazon, I have been able to receive the same product, faster and sometimes cheaper. In this case, all was true except the book store book came with a very necessary CD, the book with Amazon did not.

5 out of 5 stars Nursing Student Review.......2006-03-04

Take this as a prereq into nursing! This is a great course and a great texbook. It explains things well and in language you can understand. I very much enjoyed this course.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Book.......2005-09-19

This is a very informative book and has really helped in my A&P class.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best A&P book.......2004-07-30

This book has a lot of vague points and skims over a lot of important facts and functions - the only reason my school switched to this book was because there was one tiny flaw in the nervous system chapter of the prior book.

But buy it on amazon because the bookstore will overprice it (they wanted $195 at my school for JUST the book and that was used - not including lab manual).

very good book, buy at amazon. com for better deal, the bookstore at my school charges $210 for this book

5 out of 5 stars Simple to understand, not a boring textbook........2005-03-06

I was assigned this book for my A and P classes at my university. I found it to be quite complete as the previous reviewer said. I also liked the writing style since it was not in hard language. Although some anatomy words are hard at first to learn like styloid and mastoid, I found the text to be easy to learn the information from. I also found two great study guides which really helped me get the grades I wanted. I discovered them from a classmate of mine. They are:
Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Patrick Leonardi. These showed me what I needed to know for my A and P tests. The questions were very good in the study guides because they were asked in the format of how my teacher would ask them. Hole's textbooks is also an excellent textbook--highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Great Textbook.......2001-05-12

I took this course in college because it was required for my major. I honestly have to say that this book is extremely thorough. It covers all body systems in great detail it's diagrams are extremely helpful.

    Book Description

'Bottom-Line Call Center Management breaks new ground by addressing key skills and techniques in assessing and implementing effective management practices to maximize the human and capital resources at the call center manager's disposal. Drawing on the author's unique data sets and years of research experience in the industry, 'Bottom-Line Call Center Management' helps call center managers evaluate their current status, implement cost-effective changes, and measure results of their changes to ensure a culture of accountability within the call center at all levels increasing the bottom line.

The processes include an evaluation of current customer service representatives, defining, delimiting and assessing the labor shed of the center, and exploring the customer service representative's unique skills and leveraging those skills into a unique and dynamic work environment. Likewise, the process also determines the learning skills and competencies necessary to meet and exceed the basic requirements for all call centers. Furthermore, each step has a pre, in-process, and post evaluation to ensure projects are progressing according to plan. Lastly, all evaluations are measured against the bottom line through a return on investment (ROI) model.

The framework for this book uses the culture of call centers, defined and lived through the customer service representatives, as the lens to view all processes, measurements, accountability and return on investment. This framework is critical since there has been much emphasis on technology-as-a-solution which treats the employees as a hindrance instead of the enablers of positive change. Likewise, customer service representatives eventually act as strong determinants of success with the call center and thus the bottom line.

*The only book to focus on accountability in call center management within a framework of progressive management and HR practices
*Draws on the author's unique data sets about best practices in call center management
*Step-by-step processes to assess, implement, and measure the ROI of effective management practices, with pre-, in-process, and post-evaluation built in

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A hands-on guide to customer running customer call centers.......2004-05-20

Until recently, customer call centers were very much back-end operations, out of site and out of the minds of corporate chiefs. That was before several recent high-profile fiascos in the US, UK and Australia, where badly-run call centers destroyed in a few months the customer goodwill that had been expensively built up over years.

It doesn't have to be that way. David Butler shows how call centers can be a bottom-line asset to companies, not just a money sink. It cites, for example, the case of a highly cost-effective center in the south-west United States with an annual employee turnover of under 3% and (if I guess the real identity of the company correctly) many happy repeat customers, including myself.

David Butler owns a call center management company and is a recognized expert on the subject. "Bottom-Line Call Center Management" contains detailed information on where best to locate new call centers, how to evaluate and implement new call center technology, how to calculate the value of a call center in dollar terms, and how to create an environment that will attract and retain a loyal and productive staff.

For those of us on the customer side of the business, Dr Butler stresses the need to ensure that representatives are familiar with the products they support or sell. Call center representatives, just like all customer-facing staff, need to understand how customers use the company products and services. If representatives can't articulate product knowledge and understand customer concerns, they really are just a "cost center" and, as the author repeatedly warns, are in danger of having their jobs eliminated or sent abroad. That represents a disaster to their communities and a financial loss to the companies that employed them.

Quick, easy ordering and received the new book with just a very small and slight indentation at the top front portion of the book cover, I'm sure it was due to the shipping. I studied this book for my college anatomy and physiology class. Of course, you need this book to study--without it I would have been lost. There is so much information in this book, makes anatomy and physiology a little easier to learn.

    Other recommenations:

I also used Martini's Anatomy and Physiology Textbook as an additonal source. This book filled in the gaps, pictures/digarams were excellent.

Also, Leonardi's, "Anatomy and Phsiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations volumes 1, 2 & 3. The question were comparable to the kind I saw on my college exams...

5 out of 5 stars An excellent text for the novice and experienced clinician.......2000-12-15

The text "Mobilisation of the Nervous System" is an excellent text for both the novice and experienced Physical Therapist. I bought this book to review for the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist exam, and have found it very helpful. The text does an excellent job of describing general anatomical and physiological reasoning behind commonly used evaluation and treatment techniques, as well as describing these techniques in detail. The illustrations and descriptions are good, so that if you are not practiced at these techniques you will be able to clearly see the proper postioning that is required. I would recommend this text for anyone who wants to update their clincal skills or for new Physical Therapists that want to learn more about this aspect of Physical Therapy.

2 out of 5 stars Get Another Book on Solaris.......2007-02-04

I cannot say I am very impressed with this book. Granted, maybe the title 'Boot Camp' should have been a give away, but you just don't walk away from this book knowing even enough to be dangerous. Maybe peel potatoes.

My reading of the book progressed something like this: I would work my way through the chapter, following the author every step of the way as best I could (given system differences), the procedure would not work, I would look up the correct way to do things on the internet, and the problem would be solved. And the information on the internet is FREE.

Where the book really fails is it does not cover topics in a way that would allow you to extrapolate from the situation covered in the book to another, similar situation that you may be having. Back to the internet.

The author also breaks a cardinal rule of system administration: he makes multiple changes at the same time. This leaves you, the reader, having to re-trace multiple steps to identify the problem when the procedure covered in the text fails on your particular system. Back to the internet.

The book does have a nice feature: it lists all the man pages and files you will be using at the beginning of the chapter. Not to say this helped me resolve many of the problems I had, but it is still a nice feature.

This leaves me to suggest you purchase another book on Solaris and you use the internet where you would have used this text.

3 out of 5 stars Not very good book.......2006-04-13

I don't understand why the rating of this book is so good. To me it is not realistic. This is an avarage book. The book is missing details. There are lots of mistakes. It is not complete. I understand that to write the book on Solaris(Unix) and explain all the details of it, the book should be over 1000 pages. If the authors don't have such a patience and dedication they should not write the books. The should leave students to read documentation from Sun website or man pages. I don't have any book to recomend. The book is still good comparing to other books on Unix, which are terrible. But chapters are not finished.

5 out of 5 stars The ONLY Solaris SA's Book Worth Having On Your Desk.......2006-01-24

There are lots of Solaris books on the market, most of which are horrible. This book is the only book that I've seen that covers the OS very completely in a very small page count. Subjects like RBAC, NIS, NFS, ACL's, and other topics that are typically confusing and lengthy reads are presented in this book in only a few short paragraphs but with absolute clarity. Other books talk about something, this book teaches you how it works and how to do it without all the pointless chatter.

Everything presented in this book applies to Solaris 10 as well, it simply lacks coverage of the wide range of new features such as SMF, Zones, DTrace, etc. But don't let that stop you from buying this book!

While the book might seem like a beginners only book, I find it invaluable as a Sr SA. Its extremely embarousing when someone asks you to do something with Solaris that you haven't done for a long time. A common example is working with Sendmail on Solaris... if you spend a lot of time using Postfix or other mail systems it can be a real pain to remember where Sun puts things and how to interact with the stock Sendmail in Solaris. This book has saved me from reading piles of man pages and pulling out full length O'Rielly books to simply remember some simple topic that I just haven't dealt with in a while.

Beginner or Expert, this the best Solaris book to have at arms reach. Period.

5 out of 5 stars Best Solaris Administration Book.......2005-08-12

At last a book that is worth every cent!
A must have book for any Solaris Administrator, novice or expert.
    You will not be dissapointed..

    5 out of 5 stars Extremely well written - 5 stars easily.......2004-11-30

High quality content! I knew it was going to be a great book just after finishing the 1st chapter. On a topic per topic comparison, they write much more clearly than any other Unix book out there. The chapter on "packages" alone was worth the price of the entire book. I haven't read a Unix book that explained this aspect as well as these guys. Hope to see more quality books to come from these guys.
