Awful.......2007-09-04
Do you know what "collaboration" means? According to this book it's about talking to your co-workers and making sure to be nice to them....and it takes 10 text-book sized pages to explain that simple fact.
Then there's the section on laws and modern special education concerns, where each major law is given a paragraph and a half of explanation, and the acronyms for these skipped-over laws are used consistently from that point onwards without further explanation.
That's really the problem with this book. It's too much for some things, and not enough for others. The writing is about as engaging as the instructions for installing your cable tv, and the stories are well too short to carry any significant meaning.
In short...skip it. If this is your classroom textbook, as it was mine, I feel your pain.
Great product, great price.......2007-02-11
I am very happy with Amazon's service. The book is great and the price is much cheaper than the university bookstore.
Insightful.......2006-08-15
This is a great book to use as a reference. It's an easy read and full of useful information. However, the book is a little pricey.
Including Students with special needs: A Practical Guide for classroom teachers (4th edition) .......2006-03-04
This was my first purchase on Amazon and it went very smoothly. The price was reasonable and it arrived in a few days. Great experience!
The book is extermely informative and organized........1999-08-28
The authors did an excellent job of presenting Special Education to thier readers. The organization of the text makes it easy for the reader to follow along and makes a great reference guide for teachers in the classroom!

Unhappy with Amazon.......2007-01-22
I do not know how I got two books ordered unless it was when I was trying to do the free book offer you had. I was denied credit however. Maybe this is how it happened. I was unhappy that I had to pay shipping on the book I had to send back. I do not need two of the same book. The book is very helpful for the class I am taking I will want to keep it for reference in the future.

very repitious.......2007-01-04
Much of the same information repeated throughout the chapters. Also would like to see chapters shifted around. didn't think the order was appropriate or logical.
Good, easy to use book.......2006-03-25
I bought this book as a requirement for a class, but am finding it easy to read and full of useful information.
Review of Interactions: Collaboration Skills for School Professionals (4th Edition).......2005-10-01
This book does make some important points about teaming, but is generally a waste of time and money. It is filled with common sense information, and each chapter can be easily summarized in a few short sentences.
Interactions: Collaboration Skills for School Professionals (4th Edition).......2005-09-24
This is the book my college professorsaid we had to have for class. A fellow collegue at her previous University helped to write it. She said that she is a expert in her field. After having read several chapters of this book, I agree. This book is well written, professional, and straightforward. I will keep it for future reference.

Excellent overview of the field.......2007-08-03
I am a student and this book was the required text. I found it to be straight-forward, easy to reference, and packed with material. I plan on keeping this one around to reference back to.
Student.......2007-07-01
This is a great book. I used it in my class with Eastern New Mexico University. It was a great breakdown of individuals with disabilities and great resources. The class is finished but I will keep this book for future referrences.

Helping Teens Cope with Death

Book Description
With a new foreword by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. The death of a friend is a wrenching event for anyone at any age. Teenagers especially need help coping with this painful loss. This sensitive book answers questions grieving teens often have, like "How should I be acting?" "Is it wrong to go to parties and have fun?" "What is 'normal'?" and "What if I can't handle my grief on my own?" The advice is gentle, non-preachy, and genuinely compassionate; the author has seen her own children suffer from the death of a friend, and she knows what teenagers go through when another teen dies. The revised edition includes new quotes from teens, new resources, and a new section on losing a friend through violence. Also recommended for parents and teachers of teens who have experienced a painful loss. Black & white photos, 5" x 7", ages 11 & up.

Small, concise, helpful........2005-04-28
I bought this book for my 18 year old brother after his best friend died tragically. I left it in his room, feeling it would be awkward to give it to him directly. He was 'too tough' to cry at that point. A few days later my mom told me that there was an empty tissue box by his bed, the tissues used and crumpled around it. A corner of the book stuck out from under his mattress. I didn't read the entire book myself- I looked through parts of it before buying it. Some pages featured a simple quote or a short paragraph. Others were filled with words from teens who had experienced similar loss. I was pleased that the book itself was not only small in size, but that each page contained just enough material for a grieving teen to digest without being overwhelming. This book allowed my brother to, at least temporarily, take off his mask of bravery and simply cry over the loss of his friend. That deserves five stars from me.
It helped. A LOT........2003-05-08
I just recently lost a close friend to a car accident and reading this book made me feel like I wasn't alone. So many of the teen quotes from the book were exactly what I was thinking. A lot of the things the book said showed me that I wasn't alone and that so many people were feeling the same thing. I'm passing the book around to friends who've also shared the same loss. I suggest this book to ANYONE who's suffered a loss, of a friend, a parent, a lover, a sibling, a son or daughter, just any loss. It really helped and I'm glad there's a book like this out there.

Great book.......2004-02-03
I loved the first book in this series, and I loved this one too. It's full of great (and creative) ideas for playing with your child and stimulating him or her.
Great book for opening your eyes to your toddler's genius!.......1999-07-14
This book has really made me aware of the constant learning that my one year old is doing! Gives great specific ideas on how to help your child play(learn), and explains how every little thing your toddler is doing, while seeming like nothing to you, is actually a skill. My daughter and I are getting along so much better since I have read this book because it allowed me to see things through her eyes!!!

Mothers and Their Adult Daughters: Mixed Emotions, Enduring Bonds
ASIN: 0061138193
Release Date: 2007-03-13 |
Amazon.com
There is an abundance of books designed to aid parents in guiding their children through adolescence, but few are aimed at those whose kids are no longer kids. Since the role of parent is never outgrown (as desirable as the idea may sound at times), a new communication approach is necessary for parents to foster a close bond with their adult children. With daughters in their 20s, Susan Jonas and Marilyn Nissenson are familiar with the unique mother-daughter dynamic and the inherent paradox in bridging the gap between friendship and mothering. Friends for Life is their attempt to assuage the confusion by sharing the wisdom gathered by various women. To help answer their questions, the authors enlisted some experts in the field, interviewing more than 100 mothers from across the U.S. about the joys, frustrations, and complexities of simultaneously reaching out and letting go. The compilation of experience, warnings, and words of wisdom is both instructive and endearing, and the anecdotes are sure to elicit nods of recognition. Touchy subjects such as selecting a partner, choosing a career, and lifestyle choices are discussed honestly and fairly, accounting for generational differences and malleable societal norms. There is a razor-fine line between dispensing advice and nagging, between expectations and unconditional support, and the authors argue that recognizing these boundaries is essential to a healthy and loving relationship with a daughter. As with most good advice, the real value is in spreading it around.
Book Description
The mother–daughter relationship is one of the most rewarding––and baffling––relationship a woman may ever have. Books abound on the parenting of children, but little has been published on mothers' connections with their grown daughters. That complex maternal relationship is explored here, in Friends for Life, a much–needed resource written by mothers for mothers.
Drawing on the guidance of psychology professionals, New York moms Susan Jonas and Marilyn Nissenson interviewed over one hundred other women, asking them about their role as mothers, about their communication with their daughters, about their own needs, and about issues of independence and support. The result is a wonderfully rich, intensely personal, and nonjudgmental study of mother–daughter relations, one that reveals ways for mothers to build lifelong friendships with their daughters.
Customer Reviews:
What's with That? Great book!.......2003-03-09
I found the book to provide useful insights into the mother daughter relationships that apply to my own life with my mother AND with my daughter. Life with daughter (especially teens) is sometimes like a soap opera, but understanding more, gives me the ability to keep it from being so.
Dysfunctional Families.......2000-09-05
I found the title misleading (to say the least). This book is filled with stories about dysfunctional families. If you enjoy watching daytime talk shows you will enjoy this book; but if you want to enrich your mother-daughter bond; this one is not for you.
Book Description
Delightful photographs that celebrate the bond between Jack Russell terriers and horses.
Customer Reviews:
JRs are wonderfully depicted!.......2004-12-30
No one can capture the spirit of a Jack Russell, in a photograph, like Marilyn Mackay-Smith. She pairs very appropriate (or humorous!) quotes with the amazing photos.
This is a wonderful book for any dog lover.
Jack Russell Terriers and Their Friends.......2004-11-13
For anybody who loves the Jack Russell and can appreciate their terrier personality. I live in a multiple terrier home so seeing these pictures were like looking at my own funny dogs. I have tried to line up terriers for Christmas photos, but not with the success of Mrs. Mackay-Smith. Favorites have to be the JRTs at the piano, on the back of a blanketed, tinseled horse, and asleep (!!!) beneath Christmas stockings filled with dog biscuits. Mrs. Mackay-Smith, how did you manage that?! Thank you for publishing this delightful little book whose subjects remind me of my own beloved terriers.
