Customer Reviews:
Great Pop-up Book!.......2007-08-23
This is probably the greatest pop-up book I've ever seen. I just recently got this as a birthday gift from a friend and I really love it. It seems a little fragile though...not sure if I would let a kid play with it...they would rip it apart in a few minutes.
Mommy?.......2007-07-27
I am a big Maurice Sendak fan and have a great collection of Pop Up Books. I am thrilled to have this as an addition to my collection. The art work is truly amazing!
Never had this much fun getting scared!.......2007-07-25
My 6 yr old loves this one, keeps it under her bed. The pop-ups are too cool!
Great pop-up.......2007-03-29
This book is amazing and It has great illustrations. You'll have to look at the book over and over just to see everything in it. I wouldn't recommend it for small children unless you are doing the handling.

Cirque Du Freak.......2007-09-06
I am using the series in my Contemporary Literature class and the students love the series! We have moved from the first to second book and they are very into it. It isn't common for middle school students to get into reading. This one is the bomb!
Just can not stop reading.......2007-07-14
love the story! I can keep reading on my bed and without falling sleep, even I had read the translated edition defore.
books #1 and 2, cirque de freak.......2007-05-07
i recommend these books to any child who loves to read or who doesn't. my son literally has to be forced to read but once he read the first book he was hooked. he enjoyed them so much that i bought the box set for him!! the books held his interest and had enough of fantasy with the real world thrown in. besides, what kid isn't interested in monsters!
My daughter loves these books.......2007-05-07
It isn't always easy to get a high school girl to read, but my daughter found one of these books in her school library and she was hooked. She devours a book in just a few days and comes back ready for more. We will be purchasing all of them and now she is looking forward to the next collection by the same author. Amazon Rocks!
Freak Show.......2007-02-16
This book is a great one to read if you like freaks at a circus. There are a lot of weird but incredible things in this book like the Snake Boy or Madam Octa or even Gertha Teeth. The Snake Boy has scales all over his body and even slithers like a snake. Madam Octa is a red, green and purple spider and in one bite she can kill a human. But the weirdest thing was that she was trained to obey a special flute. When Mr. Crepsley blew a certain tune she would do some incredible trick. Gertha Teeth was even better; she could bite anything. One time she bit a bunch of holes in a big radiator. She picked three volunteers to show how strong her teeth were. One guy had a sledgehammer and a chisel. The second guy had a hammer and a chisel. The third guy had a saw.
Even though this book is very good it probably needs to be read from fourth and up. It may even be a little scary for fourth graders because of the vampire and the Wolf-man. To find out what happens you have got to read this book
Customer Reviews:
Tom's field test proves to be a load of bull.......2007-04-07
In this galvanizing addition to the "Ghosthunters" series, Tom has to identify and capture an unclassified ghost as the final step to being awarded his GhostHunting Diploma. Everybody, including Tom, thinks that this is a mere formality, because as we all know, he has already defeated ghosts in Category Six, and the field test requires capturing a mere Category Three specimen.
The thing is, there's a new guy on the Examining Board, and he's changed the rules a bit, so that the apparently routine task becomes just a little more challenging. Tom is only allowed one assistant for the assignment, and that means that he has to choose between Hetty Hyssop and Hugo the Averagely Spooky Ghost. Logistics demands that he choose the one with a driver's license, and of course the other isn't too pleased about it.
When they arrive at the old village of Bogpool, they find it buzzing with ghostly energy, and soon learn that the village is a veritable ghost-magnet, and that the ghosts there don't much care for Ghost Hunters of any sort. The particular ghost required for the assignment turns out to be a rather unpleasant NEPGA (which we are told is a Negative Projection of a Ghostly Apparition), which would have been all well and good if it hadn't let on that it was really the "Twelfth Messenger", and believe me, this sounds a lot nicer than it actually turns out to be.
It isn't long before the earth starts moving and the mud starts bubbling, and the intrepid team of Hyssop & Co (plus a new friend) find themselves fighting for their lives. Ghosts of all sorts herald the arrival of the terrible "Muddy Monster of Doom" and his dreaded sidekick the "Thirteenth Messenger", and this definitely seems like one assignment doomed for failure.
The final chapters will have you holding your breath, making this a truly breathtaking experience, and trust me, that's no bull.

This Book Will Get Your Boy To Read!.......2007-06-11
My 9-yr old son LOVES this book, as well as the other Cornelia Funke books in the Ghosthunter series. He read this book nonstop from start to finish in only one day, and he is not the type of child who will read just anything. If you have a son/grandson/nephew who is a picky or reluctant reader, chances are good that this book will be one he will enjoy.
Too short.......2007-02-04
I like the Ghosthunter series. This book was too short though. I liked how they eliminated the ghost. You should get this book!

2nd Graders Can't Get Enough!.......2007-02-01
My class of 22 second graders is totally CRAZY for this series. Here are their ratings: Freaky! Cool! Hugo is sooooo funny in this book! Very exciting! Totally wicked! Surprising! Interesting! It's our favorite book so far!
Beware of Baronesses and biting ghosties.......2007-01-17
The third part of the series
And a new Ghosthunter book
The saga of the Baroness
Is worth a second look
It's off to Gloomsburg Castle
To meet some folk named Worm
Another tough assignment
For Hetty and her firm
To try to catch the Baroness
They turn off all the power
Because without her energy
She'll wither like a flower
The plan backfires terribly
And she still gets her juice
Astride her horse she draws a sword
And then all hell breaks loose
The Baroness had met her fate
By falling in the moat
The only chance they have to win
Lies hidden 'neath her coat
Action packed and funny too
This is the best so far
So look for more Ghosthunters
If you're into the bizarre

The Haunted Hotel.......2006-12-19
The book The Haunted Hotel by Ron Roy is part of the A-Z Mysteries series. I have enjoyed many books written by Ron Roy. In The Haunted Hotel there is this ghost that terrorizes the hotel and three kids try to figure out who the ghost is. The main characters are Josh, Dink and Ruth Rose .The book is set in a hotel. It shows how hard it is to be a detective.
My favorite part was when they found out who the ghost was. The book is very exciting and fun to read. I recommend this book for people who like mysteries. That's what I think of the book.

Book Description
After banishing the Incredibly Revolting Ghost of book 1, Tom, former klutz, Hugo, still an Averagely Spooky Ghost (ASG to the uninitiated), and Hetty Hyssop, current world-renowned ghosthunter, have formed an agency dedicated to dealing with difficult apparitions. No case can defeat them--until they encounter a Gruesome Invincible Lightning Ghost. This smoking specter has claimed the penthouse suite of a beachfront hotel, where it passes its eternal vacation by turning guests into ghosts themselves. Could Hugo's slime douse the flaming phantom? Or are Tom and the team about to get burned?
Customer Reviews:
An Invincible Lightning Ghost.......2007-06-01
Ghosthunters And The Gruesome Invincible Lightning Ghost is the second book in the series. In the first book, the ghosthunters got their ghost - an Incredibly Revolting Ghost. Now Tom (a 9 year old boy), Hetty (a world famous ghost hunter), and Hugo (an Average Spooky Ghost) must face a new ghost.
The story starts when the ghosthunter crew sets out to help Mr. Alvin Bigshot at his isolated Seaside Resort on what they think is a simple and easy task to chase away a bothersome ghost. In an identical plot twist as the first time around, the ghosthunters go after one particular ghost and find there is something more dangerous to go after instead and you can probably guess that it's the Gruesome Invincible Lightning Ghost in the story's title.
For those who haven't read Roald Dahl's BFG, please do to see where Cornelia Funk got the ideas for IRGs and ASGs etc. Dahl's is a story of Giants and Funke's is a story of Ghosts. Dahl does a much better job at storytelling than Funke, and that's the crux of the problem. As with the first one, this one's weak on plot and not always believable. Unlike the first one though Funke less on the "idea" of ghosts and haunted houses being scary and more on real msytery/mystique. There are even a few genuinely scary moments (for young readers).
Although the plot is weak, young readers interested in witches and ghosts should enjoy the story. It is a fairly good beginner chapter book for ages 7 to 9 and given a choice between the Junie B. Jones books and the Magic Treehouse books (which are also for ages 7 to 9 and also don't have much plot), this book is more fun.
This was a pretty good book.......2007-01-29
I like the Ghosthunters series but this book was ok. The part when they put out the Invincible Lightning ghost was kind of dumb. This book is not scary. I like the first one better.
Ryan: age 9
Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside.......2007-01-15
They captured first an IRG
(More dangerous than most)
Now Hetty Hyssop and her crew
Must tackle a new ghost
They go to a seaside hotel
(The staff are agitated)
And find the manager's report
Was badly understated
Equipped to fight a fire ghost
They find something much stronger
They use the tools they have on hand
(I won't go on much longer)
The moral of this Funke-y tale
Is simple and sublime
"Never underestimate
A well placed gob of slime"

A whole new ghostly world........2006-11-30
My 7-year-old son loved this book. He could not wait to start it immediately following the first book(Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost). We both loved how Cornelia Funke has created a whole new vocabulary for this world naming all the different kinds of ghosts and how to try to be protected from them and neutralize them. We both can't wait for the next one!
Ghost Gallore.......2006-11-29
I think this book is really cool because there are lots of ghosts. One ghost is called a Gilig. I love the part when Hugo spits on the Gilig to defeat it

Cat and Mouse in the Haunted House.......2007-05-20
I am in[..]and I read the Geronimo Stilton book called Cat and Mouse in the Haunted House for my final book report of the year. It was the best book ever! My favorite part about reading this Geronimo Stilton book was that it was very mysterious and had mummies, witches, and ghosts! That made the book even more exciting! I was holding my breath, waiting to see how the book would end. When I was reading, I could hardly wait to turn the page! I just couldn't read quick enough! Geronimo is a fun character, and I love reading about his adventures! Once I finished the book I was sad that it was over. I am so glad that there are many other books in the series! I definitely recommend this book and the rest of the Geronimo Stilton series to anyone reading this review. If you love great mysteries, I'm sure you will enjoy this book as much as I did! I hope my review was helpful and that you have a great time reading this book and other adventures about Geronimo!
He's Too Fond of His Fur!!.......2007-04-05
Geronimo Stilton:
Cat and Mouse in a Haunted House
He's too fond of his fur! Cat and Mouse in a Haunted House is a spectacular book for anyone who loves fiction. The famous Geronimo Stilton, a mouse by the way, is also known for many other books such as the following: Curse of the Cheese Pyramid, Merry Christmas Geronimo and many others. On this adventure, Geronimo is off to see his great Aunt Sugarfur. On his way home, a storm blows in a Geronimo is stuck in the woods; which were deserted; or so he thought. That's when he discovers Cannycat Castle. Geronimo is a `fraidy mouse, but it's wet and cold outside and Geronimo is not liking the weather, so he decides to try out the castle. He finds the castle is haunted with past residents, including one with only one paw! He calls up his sister Thea, his cousin Trap, and his nephew Benjamin. Together they fight off ghouls, goblins and other creepy things to stay alive. If you like Harry Potter, you'll love this! This book is funny, scary, and action packed all rolled into one. It's number three in his fur-raising adventures, and another one you just don't want to miss.
Cat and Mouse in the Haunted House.......2006-03-14
Boo! Hi,I'm the ghost of Casey Gray.I just read a book called Geronimo Stiltion, Cat and Mouse in the Haunted House. It's a furr-azing book. If you like this book, there are over 20 others!!! I give it two thumbs up.In the back of the book, there is a map of were Geronimo works, what city he lives in, and what island he lives on. Oh No!!! The books are runing away!!! Come on, they're fast.
The mouse is just so loveable!!!.......2005-07-29
It's smart, it's humourous and it's clumpsy most of the time!
Kids of all age will love Geronimo. We have a quicker full set in Hong Kong printed in Chinese and I figure it's a great way to put the 2 language versions side by side to get kids interested in a 2nd / 3rd / 4th language! (Much easier than to get them sit down in front of TV in a foreign tongue.)
Don't I wish that I know Italian as well to apprecitate the original version.
A Scary Adventure for Geronimo!.......2004-05-24
This book is awesome! Geronimo gets lost in the forest and has to spend the night in a haunted house! Geronimo gets really excited when he finds a library full of books, but he gets scared away by a ghost. The scariest part was when the ghost of Duke Slicepaw came out!
I like the way the book is printed with the words being different colors and styles. It has lots of pictures and maps too. It makes it easier for me to read it. I am going to read all fifty titles as they are translated from Italian to English!

My favorite part.......2007-03-23
My favorite part was when Jack and Annie figured out that the book they had was written by Slim Cooley.
This was a very great book, because it was a good story.
MY BOY LOVES READING IT.......2007-01-07
My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!
Cool!.......2005-12-09
The book where Jack and Annie are warped in Wild West and sees a ghost!

I'm a children's reading specialist and author (Teaching Kids To Read for Dummies). I use these books with kids who are really starting to take off with their reading and consistently get great feedback. Kids love the Magic Tree House series so if you're looking for great gifts or a bunch of books to keep your reader hooked, buy the lot.
I love this book.......2004-03-22
Annie & Jack find out that there's a rattlesnake in a ghost town and they have to hide from some people. And they find a piano that's playing all by itself. And we don't know what ...was playing it. It's a surprise for you, because you might find out. And I might find out too, because I have it at home. I have a lot of Magic Tree House books at my house. ...

cirque du freak hunters of the dusk .......2007-03-31
Cirque Du Freak: Hunters of the dusk
By: Darren Shan
The book that I read was Cirque Du Freak Hunters of the dusk. This book is about vampires and hoe they are at war with a different kind of vampire. The name for the different kind of vampires and called vampaneze.
I would recommend this book to a person who likes action and adventure books. This book is about three vampires that have to kill this vampaneze lord and they get four encounters with the lord and if they don't kill him the vampires will lose the war. The main character of the story is a half-vampire named Darren Shan. He has help by two full blooded vampires and a little person which is an undead.
If this book sounds interesting to you u I would recommend it it's a good book if you are interested in fiction books and you are interested in vampires before you read this book you should read the other six books before this one.
Circ Du Freak: Hunters of the Dusk.......2007-03-31
. I really like the book hunters of the dusk. It is apart of a very good series of book. I mean I am one who doesn't read all that often mainly because I have no time but when I started reading these books it caught my interest and always kept my attention.
.
It is apart of a very good series of books called Circ Du Freak. I would recommend starting from book five just to get caught up with all of Darren's adventures and how he becomes a vampire, a vampire prince, and in this book how he starts to become a full vampire instead of a half vampire. At the end of the book you will want to know more about what happens to the vampire Prince Darren, Mr. Crepsley, the interesting Harkat Mulds, and what happens to Vancha March and his encounter with a vampaneze that changes his life.
I can't wait to read the eighth book Allies of the Night to find out what happens to them and many more like Mr.; tiny and his minions that Harkat is so interested in. I hope that in this book Harkat finds out why he has the dreams he does and if the prediction Darren saw and if it comes true. If you like interesting mysteries than you should read this book because if you figure out what happens before it happens then you are a genius, oh if you love blood vampires and wars you will like this book.
Blood never tasted so good.......2007-02-16
"Hunters of The Dusk" is the seventh novel in the best selling Cirque Du Freak series. Vampire Prince and still just a teenage boy, Darren and Mr.Crepsley are chosen by the frightful Mr. Tiny or so called Mr. Destiny, to trek on a life or death or mission to find and slay the Vampeneze lord before he gets his full powers. They meet strange denizens on the way who fight by there side or watch laugh. Author Darren Shan's vivid detail and original voice will keep you glued to your seats in horror, excitement, and disgustment.
Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak first caught my eye when I heard they were about vampires and "hunters". I like how Darren's writing can post a perfect picture in your mind about what's happening and what's about to happen. Darren's writing has no flaws and his storyline has no flaws as well. "Hunter of the Dusk" is a great novel and Darren Shan is a great author
Hunt all over for this book.......2006-02-11
The book that I read was Hunters of the Dusk was written by Darren Shan. This book is about Darren, a vampire prince, who is Mr. Creapsly's assistant. The uprising of the Vampeneze Lord has threatened the population of the vampires. The War of the Scars has begun and to save the vampires, Darren, Mr. Creapsly, and Vancha must find and kill the Vampeneze Lord before he is fully blooded. They only have four shots and the whole world is resting in their hands! Out of five stars I would give Hunters of the Dusk a four.
This book was very intense with a lot of action. My favorite part of the book was when Darren went through his purge. A purge is very rare but it mainly can make a half-vampire whole. Since Darren is only half, his human blood is being attacked by his vampire blood. During his purge there are a lot of disadvantages since he doesn't become a whole vampire and will have to go through that again.
Someone that I would recommend this book to is a person that loves mystery, suspense, action, and adventure. This book is one of the best books that I have read in my life! I know that you will love it.
The Battle Continues.......2005-11-22
This book is the 7th book in the saga. This book is about a vampire boy, Darren Shan. Darren has just become the vampire prince, the highest of all vampiers. The War of Scars is going on and Darren is helping an older prince with the war. Mr Tiny, a powerful person who created the vampiers, came to the mountian. He said that three vampiers would hunt for the vampaneze lord but humans and creaters can help. Mr Thiny said they will cross paths with the lord four times. The three people are Darren, Mr Crepsley, and Vancha, another prince. They head out for a witch's house, named Evanna. Once they're there, they travel to the Cirque Du Freak. One night, Darren follows Evanna to a band of vampaneze. Darren goes back to get Mr Crepsley and Vanca. They rush there and start to fight with the vamaneze. You will have to read this book to find out what happens. It is a really good book.
