Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

"Alt-rock diva, wise-cracking Blackman is not so much the poetic conscience of Gen X as its caustic avenger."-Village Voice
"Blackman has a gift for turning nightmares into revelations."-New York Times
Blood Sugar is a disturbing and evocative collection of new work and selected poems previously featured in Blackman's enormously popular chapbooks Pretty, Sweet, and Nice. Her work has appeared in five major anthologies including Aloud: Voices from the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Verses That Hurt, and Poetry Nation. Blackman has performed on over twenty recordings, including collaborations with Golden Palominos, Recoil, KMFDM, and Scanner. She has also performed internationally and on NPR, MTV Radio, Spin Radio, and been featured on Salon.com. It is futile to resist her brutal accounts of obsession and beauty. So give in.

Ashes and Mud.......2007-07-12
What happens when you take an aging poetry-slam goddess and replace fake transgression with faltering maturity? The result is a book you discard on an Alphabet City sidewalk, only to regret its effect on the strangers exposed to it. After her Nuyorican Poet's Cafe days, Blackman has frittered and hyped her ink in silly self-parody to the become a premier nonstop yawn-machine. I would rather spray a can of insecticide into my mouth than ponder it further.
Amazing.......2006-10-25
She writes the way you *wish* you could articulate your feelings: raw, forward and fearless.
The one and only high and low........2006-08-26
Blood Sugar is simply amazing. Nicole Blackman will make you think, cry, smile, and laugh all within one poem. Well, it works like that for me anyway.
She doesn't filter things, and for some reason, I actually laugh at some of the things she writes. I love how forward, how honest, how dark, how happy they are. Her work can accomplish all of this at once. She's a one of a kind.
I love about 90% of the writings in the book, and the others are still worth reading. My favorites include "The Ambitions are", "Missing Natalie", and "Victim".
If you enjoy any sort of creative, and simply amazing writing, I'd recommend Blood Sugar. So far, everyone I know has loved it.
Best book of poetry ever........2006-05-03
In Blood Sugar by Nicole Blackman there are boundaries we cross as women everyday: mother, daughter, lover, professional and friend. Blood Sugar explores the cruel, the tragic, and humorous side of balancing power, femininity, motherhood and sexuality. Nicole Blackman's compilation of poetry illustrates a world of the modern misfit or the girl that doesn't quite follow the etiquette of society. She gives a voice to a new generation of women and girls that refused to be silenced. She gives a voice to anyone who has been hurt, betrayed, or just different.
While reading her book there are times when her words feel like a blow to the stomach, or a calm before a storm. There are no details spared, no emotional stone left unturned. In her poem Brooklyn, Nicole Blackman eloquently describes how the aftermath of a former relationship can affect a present one, "and I don't care what you are because I'll make you into whatever I need." She describes how necessity affects desire. In the poem Daughter, Nicole Blackman writes, "one Day I'll give birth to a tiny baby girl and when she's born she'll scream and I'll tell her to never stop." Already she is empowering her hypothetical daughter. Already she is influencing the reader's perception on raising a daughter in today's society. One of her most potent poems, The God Of Sleep, depicts the uncomfortable comfort in a one-night stand with someone you know. One of the most important lines written in this book pertains to this poem: "Girls have to go somewhere dangerous every now and then just so they know they can find their way home." This excerpt from the poem The God Of Sleep is the essential message of Blood Sugar... to find your way home metaphorical or not. This book is written for anyone who wants find themselves in the chaos of everyday life.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is willing to explore emotional and physical pain on higher levels. Anyone that is willing to explore the darker side of life, of love and of sex. This book is for more than just lovers of poetry. This is for people who want to expand the horizons of contemporary poetry. This book is a guide for anyone who wants to understand the healing power of confession, sin, revenge, lust, and chaos.

Pulpy.......2006-04-19
After enjoying Nicole Blackman's work with Golden Palominos, I was disappointed by this collection. Without her sexy voice to distract you from what she's actually saying, the flaws of Nicole's writing are brought to the fore, and she doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. Be advised that Blackman is definitely not literary, and her use of language is quite unsophisticated (I couldn't shake the thought that my 17-year-old friend produces better, quirkier work than this.) Blackman milks well-worn scenarios (abduction by a crazed man, getting abused by men as a rites of passage, Anorexia etc) but she adds nothing to the dialogue about these subjects. She represents the female experience accurately enough, and I did find myself relating to much of the terrain she explores, such as in her poem 'Dark Daughter' (about a depressed girl whose mother misunderstands her), but she just doesn't have an original take on this stuff. Also, her motifs (stars, pearls, diamonds, blood, guns etc), seem to me merely decorative; surface.
Nicole Blackman seems to want to be the spokesperson for the urban underworld -- and she succeeds. Pop culture references abound, and the physical world is prioritised. Most of these poems don't resonate, and are at times heavy-handed. They tackle huge subjects like rape, incest, the loss of a twin, etc, and while very punchy and high-impact, they ultimately remind the reader of a slew of bad television crime shows, and various other low-brow gothic media. The nuances of Nicole's work are lost when limited to the written word, which is a shame, because pieces like 'Thirst' and 'Drown' work well when backgrounded by surreal music.
I believe that Nicole Blackman's craft is editing -- and it shows. This stuff is pared down, stark, and as bloody as the cover would indicate. Maybe it's just not my thing. I'd recommend this to a teenage girl, but if you're older than that, you may require something more layered.

Book Description
Galactopoesis is the medical term for the continued secretion and production of milk. It derives from the Greek radicals for 'milk' (galacto) and 'making' (poesis), which is also 'poetry.' In Wet Apples, White Blood, nursing, as a constant creative act dependent on the baby’s demand, is a trope for the creative process and for questions of biology, psychology, and spirituality.

Book Description
"In Blood and Memory the story of the son annotates the story of the father. That is an old theme, in the literature of the South and elsewhere. Robert Benson handles it without sparing, pitying, or psycho-mythologically aggrandizing himself. The substance of his book is anecdotal; the tone is low-keyed and even-keeled. His contemplation of his own life unexpectedly brought into my mind a writer he apparently knows well enough to have utterly metabolized: Geoffrey Chaucer." Franklin Burroughs
"Blood and Memory cuts a long deep furrow through time and place. Robert Benson ploughs the rich black topsoil of family and digs into the clay beneath, turning up accounts of days sometimes hard but always well-lived. Snakes wind through the margins of Benson's pages; a swamp spreads like an erasure; and a fishing pole dangles, its hook baited with sweet alluring words. Through signatures of essays, years wander like a stream, sometimes eddying into deep pools, other times crashing and breaking, tossing father and friends onto a dry bank before racing forward. This fine, celebratory book will make recollection flourish."Sam Pickering
"In Blood and Memory, Robert Benson charts a Southern boy's adventurous growing up. Out of experience and stories overheard, questions arise; but in revisiting lost time, he discovers understanding. In Benson's vision memory is redemptive, both revealing and confirming life's deeper meanings."Elizabeth Spencer

Wonderful Memoir.......2007-01-12
A wonderful memoir of a son, husband and father focused on the 1940's and 1950's.
Much More than a Memory.......2006-12-18
Robert Benson's assured prose and eye for telling detail take the reader into a vanished time and place -- the Louisiana bayous of the author's youth. This is more than a straightforward memoir, though: it's a thoughtful, frequently moving investigation of the complex web of feeling that grows between father and son, the tragedies we inherit from our parents like family heirlooms. I have known Dr. Benson as a fine literature professor, a man of much dignity. Reading his book opened a door into his heart.

Fiery and explicit, focused and unsparing, with echoes of Langston, David Walker, and Haki. The living voices of Ancestors ring in his superlative invocations of Memory: Malcolm, Robeson, embrace Gwendolyn Brooks. Explosive and spirited in his metaphor. Our revolutionary passion continues on in this Ogunian Maroon, our heir and "Jeremiah" to the Hip-Hop Nation. Long may his raw hipness, sweetened in love, raise us above these hellish cities, and point our people on the stony road to Liberation.â --Askia M.Toure', poet, educator, activist, co-founder of Black Arts Movement âEwuare Osayandeâs poetry offers an unflinching critique of racism, sexism, hypocrisy and patriarchy. But he doesnât stop there. In the era of globalization, Osayande shakes us out of our historical amnesia and reminds us of a seemingly forgotten lesson, we can either be our brother and sistersâ keepers, or their similarly hued oppressors. He takes us from the U.S. to Indonesia, to Sierra Leone and Nigeria and back. From each location, Osayande provides a stinging assessment of the ravages of global capitalism. Osayandeâs fresh voice is a clarion call for justice, and therefore, itâs a voice of hope.â --Mary Dillard, Assistant Professor of African History, Sarah Lawrence College âThese are not just engaging poetry; they are important poems. And their orality is compelling. I have never read more relevant poems in one collection by a still young poet. These are poems we can live by and thereby "live more abundantly." The best of Ewuare Osayande's tell-it-like-it-tiz poems deserve to be as well known as the revolutionary poems of Langston Hughes, Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez and Haki Madhubuti.â --Everett Hoagland, Broadside Press era poet and author of Here ⦠New and Selected Poems

Simply Genious.......2006-11-10
Ewuare takes an honest and bold stance to tackle the issues that no one wants to discuss. It is hard to choose a "best" poem as each one leaped into my world as being relevant. This book has made me take a long hard look at myself as an African American women.
I can no longer sit back and "look the other way" to injustices committed against the human race based on color, gender and socio economical status.
I AM.....MY BROTHERS KEEPER!!!
Ewuare is insightful and knowledgeable about history and the state of our nation and those abroad.
He exposes the lies that we have been fed, through the media, the judicial system, corporate world, the video and rap world.
He calls for responsibility and accountablity from every human being on the face of this earth!
EVERYONE in the world, regardless of race, color, belief or creed should read this book.
Blood Luxury arms you with knowledge, and knowledge is POWER!
I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST RELEVANT AND INSIGHTFUL BOOKS THAT I HAVE EVER READ!
YOU MUST READ THIS.
Thought provoking!.......2005-12-06
I was challenged by the poems to think... "what is really going on in the world today?" I was overcome with raw emotions that I had put away since I "grew up"! To pick a favorite or try to make one poem favorite would not give the poet his just due. For all in their own right spoke volumes to my spirit & soul!
Amiri Baraka introduces Ewuare Osayande in Blood Luxury.......2005-11-22
Acclaimed author and activist Ewuare Osayande has written a new book of poems entitled Blood Luxury that is now available in bookstores and on Amazon.com. The Quarterly Black Review has called Osayande, "one of Black America's newest insurgent intellectuals."
Blood Luxury, published by Africa World Press, is Osayande's thirteenth book in as many years. His other books include, Black Anti-Ballistic Missives: Resisting War/Resisting Racism and Caught at the Crossroads Without a Map. This is his first book with Africa World Press.
World renowned poet Amiri Baraka provides the introduction to the book. In it he writes, "Ewuare is like the image Mao posed about Revolution, a ship yet some distance away, but whose tail and inspiring sails are already visible. Take this book as this brother's imposing sail, already aware of how to use the turbulence of the crooked to give fuel to his focus."
International in its scope, Osayande's poetry offers an uncompromising look at the world from the vantage of the oppressed. In so doing, Blood Luxury continues in the tradition of Pan-African/Third World literature. In it Osayande addresses such issues as sweatshop labor in China and Indonesia, conflict diamonds in West Africa, the war in Iraq as well as the Palestinian conflict. According to Dr. Mary Dillard, associate professor of African History at Sarah Lawrence College, Blood Luxury is "an unflinching critique of racism, sexism and hypocrisy. He takes us around the world and back. From each location, Osayande provides a stinging assessment of the ravages of global capitalism."
Blood Luxury also features homage and celebration poems to Black icons of the past and present such as Ossie Davis, Gwendolyn Brooks, Paul Robeson, Malcolm X, Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Amiri Baraka. "Fiery and Explicit, Focused and Unsparing ... Explosive and Spirited in his metaphor" writes Black Arts Movement poet Askia Muhammad Toure'. He continues, "Our revolutionary passion continues on in this our heir and Jeremiah to the Hip-Hop Nation."
According to Broadside era poet and author Everett Hoagland, "the best of Osayande's tell-it-like-it-tiz poems deserve to be as well known as the revolutionary poems of Langston Hughes, Amiri Barka, Sonia Sanchez and Haki Madhubuti."
Book Description
Is Lucan's brilliant and grotesque epic Civil War an example of ideological poetry at its most flagrant, or is it a work that despairingly proclaims the meaninglessness of ideology? Shadi Bartsch offers a startlingly new answer to this split debate on the Roman poet's magnum opus.
Reflecting on the disintegration of the Roman republic in the wake of the civil war that began in 49
B.C., Lucan (writing during the grim tyranny of Nero's Rome) recounts that fateful conflict with a strangely ambiguous portrayal of his republican hero, Pompey. Although the story is one of a tragic defeat, the language of his epic is more often violent and nihilistic than heroic and tragic. And Lucan is oddly fascinated by the graphic destruction of lives, the violation of human bodies--an interest paralleled in his deviant syntax and fragmented poetry. In an analysis that draws on contemporary political thought ranging from Hannah Arendt and Richard Rorty to the poetry of Vietnam veterans, as well as on literary theory and ancient sources, Bartsch finds in the paradoxes of Lucan's poetry both a political irony that responds to the universally perceived need for, yet suspicion of, ideology, and a recourse to the redemptive power of storytelling. This shrewd and lively book contributes substantially to our understanding of Roman civilization and of poetry as a means of political expression.

A testament .......2004-10-15
Charles Fishman is to be given tremendous credit for the dedication diligence and generosity it took to assemble this anthology . His openness to the work of other poets, and his deep feeling for the suffering of the Holocaust combine here to bring a large and varied collection of writing.
