Lots of ideas.......2007-09-18
This is basically a compilation of the wizdom and ideas of many of the great PUA's. A must have for the comunity.
A Must Have!.......2007-08-25
This book is a must have for every man who wants to have success with beautiful women. Another new bestseller which I highly recommend - The Exclusive Layguide: When Dating and Having Sex with Incredibly Hot Women is No Longer Mirage Even If You Don't Look Like a Model or Don't Make a Fortune
Amazing books!
Doesn't Have Too Much To Offer (Rating: 5 out of 10- -2.5 stars).......2007-08-14
So I read this book on how to help pick up women, because the title looks so promising. I read it and basically it doesn't have too much to offer. It doesn't give straight foward help, it kinda beats around the bush. I have learned some new things in this book, such as how to start conversations with women and ask openended questions with them (expect the phrase "Whats your story" about 1000 times). But basically, the information in this book is vague. It does not give instant results like we guys all planned to, but it gives you a starting point and hangs you out to dry on your road to being a PUA instead of a chump.
Being a 20 year old college student and living in a city full of females who are stuck up, I figured this book would help out. Unfortunately, it did not do me too much justice. If you guys found success in this book with the opposite sex, give yourself a pat on the back. Funny that female reviewers (like the one below me), might get a joke out of this book because they go around making others feel like crap. I for one really don't recommend this book because of it's vague subject matter. If you want to read a good book, I recommend How to Succeed with Women, because that book gives more info into detail. Peace.
THE JIG IS UP!!!.......2007-08-11
It has to be said, guys; WOMEN CAN READ! And we're reading these male dating guides faster than you are and we know all the tricks. Play them and you'll be labeled a loser before you get to flash that charming smile.
I have a college-age daughter and she and her friends have a collection of these books (The Game, Mystery Method, PBDG, etc.) that they pass back and forth and laugh about, belittling guys they've caught in the act of trying to employ what they've read. It's kinda sad.
And worse, every women's talk show has turned these books inside out. Any woman with a television will spot the act and you may lose out on a promising encounter.
Go back to being yourself. You're a lot more attractive than you think!
Basic but available elsewhere.......2007-07-27
While 'The Layguide' does cover the aspects of a succesful pickup, it is a fairly rudimentary guide. All the information in this book is also available in any of the sedution community sites. Fast Seduction has practically this entire book.
If you're truly interested, read 'the game' and then check out the seduction forums. It will benefit your wallet more...

Every black man should read this book.......2006-04-27
Dr. Smith;
When I read your book, "More Than Sex: Reinventing The Black Male Image", back in 2000, and I just had to commend you on producing a must-read capable of transforming the lives of black men-and I was speaking from personal experience. I was, at the time, a 40-year-old, soon-to-be divorced, devoted father of three. I'd been separated from my wife for more than two years (our second separation) and celibate for all of that time, as I began to cope with the frustrating realization that I had been a consistent failure in my attempts to establish the kind of lasting, fulfilling, healthy, loving relationship with a woman that I've longed for since I was a little boy. I am the oldest of four children of divorced parents. I hadn't seen my father since I was 12, and with the exception of my paternal grandparents, there are few, if any, examples of healthy marital relationships among the aunts and uncles on either side of my family. I knew what I was looking for in a marriage; I had only during those two years at the conclusion of my marriage come to realize that I hadn't a clue as to how to achieve it. That is, until I read "More Than Sex."
After reading your book, I'd simultaneously:
1) gained a clear understanding of the choices I made, and their consequences, that led to a failed 14-year marriage, 2) recognized patterns of behavior that pretty much doomed the long-term health and survival of my past romantic relationships with women, 3) learned how to recognize and avoid unhealthy relationship behaviors in myself and in potential partners (and thus allowed one potentially destructive, post-marital relationship to end, and subsequently resisted the temptation--based almost entirely on physical attraction-- to revive a fruitless past relationship) 4) learned what to expect and to offer to achieve the long-term, committed, healthy, loving relationship I've longed for all of my life.
As a result, for the first time in my life, I was able to have a relationship where I felt I had more than a clue as to what I was doing, the motivations driving my choices and my own expectations and sense of accountability. I constantly referred to passages in your book (highlighting the most instructional sections) to avoid backsliding into old, unhealthy behaviors and to remind myself of the new, healthy relationship behaviors you reveal and I've tried to adopt. The result was truly more than sex: a level of harmony, joyous friendship, mutual trust and respect, honest communication and deep emotional intimacy that I have never experienced in any relationship. Beyond that, the sexual attraction and energy we enjoyed was nothing short of mind-blowing--and we hadn't even had intercourse yet! (We were between the Infatuation and Barriers of Control stages of our relationship.)
Today, I am happily remarried (becoming the father of a fourth child as a result). It hasn't been easy, but I am far more sure of myself, and far more confident in my ability to recognize and maintain a healthy, committed, mutually supportive relationship with my wife. I continue to recommend your book to anyone who will listen. I tell them that we think that because we fall in love, it means we know how to love, which is like thinking that because we sometimes get caught in rainstorms, we know how to swim. Thanks to you, I've learned that love is a feeling, but loving is a choice. Thanks to you, I have a better understanding of who, how and why I choose to love.
Thank you, and thank God for inspiring you to write this book.

Wow...what an eye opening book..The truth needed to be said!.......2000-01-15
I just finished Dr. Smith's book, and I have to tell you, it's really quite interesting! The author talks frankly about Black men and how they are driven by their sexuality. Anger, impotence, self-esteem, and their relationships with Black women are discussed. Perhaps the most wonderful part of the book would be the story about Dr. Smith himself. He is a Black man who came from an impoverished home, his father dying in prison and having an uneducated mother to becoming a physician. He shares true stories from patients that he's met throughout the years, and many of them I can identify with. It's about time someone talked about Black men with candor!
Thanks for writing such a wonderful book!
Book Description
Meeting Lori Bakker today-a young woman with a bright, outgoing personality, you could hardly imagine her as a teenager living a life of flagrant sexual promiscuity and drug abuse. Nor would you picture her as having had five abortions before she was twenty-one.
More Than I Could Ever Ask tugs at the heartstrings of women and men. Lori's story is one of forgiveness-finding forgiveness from God, learning to forgive the men who hurt her, and most of all, discovering inner peace. Her story also shows the power of love and faithfulness. After she was single and celibate for nearly nine years, Lori met and fell in love with a man she had known only by reputation-Jim Bakker. Today Lori and Jim-two broken lives brought together by God as one-have been restored and are busy helping restore others to spiritual and emotional wholeness.
Customer Reviews:
Inspirational and moving.......2003-04-26
I originally bought this book only because of my infatuation with the whole Jim & Tammy/PTL/Heritage USA saga. Being a devoted supporter of the Bakkers, I was somewhat skeptical of "Jim's new wife". However, I must confess that I now have great respect for Lori. Her story is thoughtful and moving and really shows just how powerful the forgiveness and love of Jesus Christ is. Her ministry to post-abortion sufferers is so deperately needed in today's society. She is a woman of great faith and courage and a true inspiration to all who love Christ above all else. This book should be read by all priests and ministers who will ultimately deal with this kind of emotional pain in their ministries.
A Must Read.......2001-02-28
Lori captures the essence of growing up (too fast) in Phoenix and living life in the fast lane. One chapter leaves you crying, another laughing and yet another pondering. I couldn't put it down!
Any Woman Who Has Struggled Needs This Book.......2001-02-07
This book is a must read for any woman who has suffered through a bad marriage, bad men, phyiscal abuse, or had an abortion. Lori offers a rare insight into the pain so many women live with --with some real answers. The book has it all -- it is at times funny, other times heart-breaking, inspiring, and down to earth. Its an easy read ...but leaves the reader with much to consider.
Greatest I ever read.......2001-01-30
This book makes you laugh and cry in the same chapters. It is a real story that will relate to many, many people. It is a must read for those who like to read about real life romance a fairy tale come true. A story of what happens behind the headlines even down to her wedding night with Jim Bakker. This book will give hope to the hopless.

AWESOME!!.......2006-11-03
Lisa Bevere has incredible insight on what we go through as women. This book has challenged me to dig deeper and "Clean my closets"! The testimony God is bringing about in my life because of what this book is working out in me is amazing. Any woman, young or old could benefit from this book if their goal is to grow closer to God and heal past hurts. I have purchased more copies of this book to share with other women.
...Didn't expect it to be so good and life applicable.......2005-12-29
I really bought this book to do a study with another woman who was having a problem seeing who she is in Christ. Once I started reading my copy I realized this book was FOR ME! (I still gave the other woman her copy). Each chapter encouraged me to search deep and tell the truth about how I feel about and measure myself. I am not a woman with low self esteem, but this book helped me to see some areas where I used incorrect weights to measure who I am and my value. Oh my, this is a MUST READ! and a MUST APPLY TO YOUR LIFE!!!
Free yourself of incorrect measures, learn your TRUE VALUE - GET THE BOOK! You'll be glad you did.
Enjoy.
Life Changing, Inspirational, Thought Provoking.......2002-12-18
Lisa's book was instrumental in changing my life by revealing the bondage I have been in since a young teenager. I highly recommend this book to all women.
honest and life changing.......2000-08-10
lisa's book is so heartfelt and real. she is very open with her own struggles which makes it safe to look at yourself. there is real freedom in this book...i challenge all woman to read it and to find true freedom!!
Seeing myself as God sees me!.......1999-09-08
What insight into the parables of Christ which changed my perception of myself. Honesty is a must. I had not seen myself through the eyes of truth. The truth will set you free. This book is about the inside of you. If my heart is right with Christ then I will strive to be like Him. This book helped me to look at myself spiritually. It will help you become more concerned with the beauty on inside instead of the physical beauty which so many are concerned with today. I want to be a beautiful woman on the inside and the beauty will shine through. My Thanks for reveiling God's truth for me.

Do you wonder if your life makes a difference in this world? Do you think you should be a clone of Mother Teresa or a replica of Catherine Booth—or at least more like the woman down the street? The truth is, God created each of us as an original. Gold Medallion Award-winning author Dr. Leslie Parrott believes that whether you know it or not, you are already making a distinctive difference by the life you live. In this book she helps you see that the more you understand the difference you are making, the bigger that difference will be.

You do make a difference.......2007-02-10
In an easy to read manner, the author guides the reader through a dicussion of how life's challenges and "pieces" help us to grow in our walk in Christ, if we allow this process to take place. I particularly loved how she shared her life's big heartbreak and how she SLOWLY was able to come to grips with how God could use it in her life if she let Him. I found the book difficult to put down and enjoy the Band of Sisters I now have in my life!
A marvelous and inspiring book!.......2006-06-28
In this delightful book, Leslie Parrott writes about the power of a woman's life and the ways in which a woman can make a difference in the world. So often, women feel that to find purpose in their lives, it's necessary to make major changes or to do something different. Leslie points out that as Christians, we are called to love God and others...that we are already making a difference through our loving acts and words and that we can make an even bigger difference by growing in our ability to love others.
My favorite books are those that are both ennobling AND enabling. Just like Dr. Parrott's earlier books with her husband, You Matter More Than You Think is one of those books. The poetry and personal experiences that she shares will inspire you to want to be a difference maker. And, the practical tips she provides will give you ideas for translating your dreams into reality. Many of the tips are familiar (e.g., allow painful personal experiences to sensitize you to others' wounds, use the observations of discerning friends to help better understand the difference you can make, and grow in graciousness by cultivating a heart of gratitude). But, the way in which Dr. Parrott puts it all together and shares her personal journey will inspire you to apply these truths in new ways. I highly recommend the book!

Book Description
Contrary to rumors on campus and in the local press, Cynthia Pemberton did not set out in 1992 to destroy the long-honored football team of Linfield College, a small liberal arts school in Oregon. Instead, the Assistant Athletic Director for Women's Sports wanted to make athletic opportunities equally available to both women and men-simply to make the college comply with the law. Her six-year crusade for full implementation of Title IX made headlines across the nation. Here is Pemberton's autobiographical account of what would become the ordeal of her life.
When Pemberton first arrived at Linfield in 1989, she accepted the logic that the more lucrative men's sports earned male players preferential treatment. Men's teams were outfitted at the college's expense, but Pemberton began noticing that the women often had to buy their own equipment and shape their practice and facility use schedules around the men's sports. Also, scant resources were available for the recruiting and coaching of women athletes. It became clear that their success would always be limited unless policies changed.
The author recounts her steps in prodding Linfield to gender awareness and then to justice. For six years, Pemberton endured harassment from her supervisor, attempts to derail her professional development, and smear campaigns in local newspapers, while her supporters on campus faced intimidation. She had come to the brink of financial ruin and psychological exhaustion by the time her lawsuit against the college was settled.
The struggle for gender equity in sport is far from over, but Pemberton leaves a legacy for women athletes, their coaches, and school administrators. Her book conveys bold determination and is rich with insights into the workings of the legal system and academic bureaucracy. It will enlighten anyone who pursues educational and social change -- and teach a new generation of women not to take their rights for granted.
