She has a precocious 3-year-old sister who tends to leave wet nappies at the foot of her bed, an insane cat who is prone to leg-shredding "Call of the Wild" episodes, and embarrassing parents who make her want to escape to Stonehenge and dance with the Druids. No wonder 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson laments, "Honestly, what is the point?" A Bridget Jones for the younger set, Georgia records the momentous events of her life--and they are all momentous--in her diary, which serves as a truly hilarious account of what it means to be a modern girl on the cusp of womanhood. No matter that her particular story takes place in England, the account of her experiences rings true across the ocean (and besides, "Georgia's Glossary" swiftly eradicates any language barriers).
The author, Louise Rennison, is a British comedy writer and it shows. Whether Georgia is dealing with wearing a bra ("OK, it's a bit on the loose side and does ride up round my neck if I run for the bus"), pondering kissing and how to know which way to turn your head ("You don't want to be bobbing around like pigeons for hours"), or managing the results of an overzealous eyebrow-plucking episode ("Obviously, now I have to stay in forever"), she always cracks us up. Georgia struggles with the myriad issues facing teen girls--boys, of course being at the forefront--but she does it with such humor and honesty it almost seems like a good time. This refreshingly funny book is ripe for a sequel, which readers will await in droves. (Ages 11 and older). --Brangien Davis
Book Description
Angus:
My mixed-breed cat, half domestic tabby, half Scottish wildcat. The size of a small Labrador, only mad.
Thongs:
Stupid underwear. What's the point of them, anyway? They just go up your bum, as far as I can tell.
Full-Frontal Snogging:
Kissing with all the trimmings, lip to lip, open mouth, tongues ... everything.
Her dad's got the mentality of a Teletubby (only not so developed). Her cat, Angus, is trying to eat the poodle next door. And her best friend thinks she looks like an alien -- just because she accidentally shaved off her eyebrows. Ergghhhlack. Still, add a little boy-stalking, teacher-baiting, and full-frontal snogging with a Sex God, and Georgia's year just might turn out to be the most fabbitty fab fab ever!
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious! It will make you laugh out loud. I couldn't read it in public........2007-08-31
I really enjoyed this book! It was so entertaining and funny to read. I think all teenage girls should read it because it is easy to relate to. Georgia is a funny, sarcastic teenager stuck on the 'racks of love' and with her loyal cat and drooling younger sister, journeys into the world of perverted boys, nosy dads and inch upon inch of lip gloss. Written as a dairy, it really portrays what life for a teenage girl in England during the early 80's might have been like (with or without Wet Lindsay). It's a younger Bridget Jones, ready to face England, one high heeled boot at a time.
GEORGIA NICOLSON RULES!!!.......2007-08-06
My! I cannot get tired of Georgia Nicolson's quirky adventures. She's nuts and her snogging lessons even more so. I guess, we all know what it's to fall for a sex god and doing the stupidest things ever. And this girl is queen of stupid! Stupid in a nice and hilarious way, btw.
LOBE, LOBE, LOBE this book. (No, this is not a spelling error. Read the book and find out). Feel cranky? Read this. Feel sad? Read this. You'll laugh like a loon because Georgia and her family and her friends are quite the colorful ones. Angus is a big favorite. I wish I had a beast like that myself.
Snogging and Laughing, Laughing and Snogging.......2007-07-19
The title may sound ... freakish ... to say the least, but this book is hilarious! Georgia is so out-of-the-box, but still, so much like me. Good to know I'm not the only one who thought my eyebrows were too bushy and decided to handle them myself. =)
Georgia is hilarious!! Really, I'm talking actual laugh-out-loud stuff. Even though she's across the sea from me, I couldn't feel closer to her.
Once you're done laughing your knickers off with this book, check out:

Hilarious---10 thumbs up.......2007-06-08
"What an unbelievably BRILLIANT night.
Double cool with knobs.
Robbie KISSED me.
The Sex God has landed."
Georgia Nicolson is your normal English teenager. But, when she meets Robby, the Sex God, her life goes crazy. Georgia tries so hard to get the Sex God to notice her, but she soon realizes Robbie has a girlfriend, "wet" Lindsey. After some stalker-like investigation she finds out that Lindsey seems to like Robbie much more then Robbie ever liked her. So, Georgia tries to convince Robbie how desperate Lindsey is and she succeeds. The Sex God landed. Georgia secretly dates Robbie, but her parents soon inform her that she will be moving to New Zealand. The book ends abruptly, leaving the reader on their toes asking for more. Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison is a very entertaining and creative book about a desperate teenager and her odd life.
The vocabulary in this book is very different from American words, but if you ever get confused there is a glossary in the back. Georgia uses words such a "wet" meaning nerdy, or words such as "fringe" meaning bangs. These different words make the book more believable and much more interesting.
The characters in this book are very interesting. Like desperate Georgia Nicolson and of course her cat Angus, make the book ten times funnier. For instance, for a costume party she dressed up as a stuffed olive, and so many things went wrong. First, her cat had a "Call of the Wild" episode, and attacked her costume. Then, she could barely make it in to the car, so her father drove next to her as she walked to the party. Last, people laughed at her then ignored her. She didn't have a very good time at that party.
The way the book was written in diary form, including date, time, and other such information, was another good aspect of the book. When Georgia is wondering something she seems to write like every other minute. It makes the book even funnier. Also since it was written in journal form it is easier to read.
Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison was an interesting, entertaining, and hilarious book about an unusual girl and her life. I recommend this book to teenagers or anyone else who wants a good laugh. After you read this book, make sure to keep reading to find out what happens next.

Don't expect much, and you won't be disappointed..........2007-05-20
Conversely to almost everyone else here, I read this book on recommendation from my mother. I didn't expect to like it much, and for the first twenty pages I couldn't stand the narrator, but this book grew on me and I must admit that I quite enjoyed it.
People have been saying that they enjoyed or didn't enjoy this book because of the narrator, and I would have to agree. Whether or not you relate to Georgia, you have to admit that there are girls like her. The entire time I was reading this book, I was amazed by how Ms. Rennison had seemed to borrow the thoughts of some of the shallower people I know, all whom I could see doing all of the things that Georgia does (minus the hilarious cat and younger sister, of course). And no one can say that they haven't shared at least a few thoughts with this narrator at one time or another!
I understand where people are going when they say that this book is crude and such, but I would like parents to take a few minutes to acknowledge that their children have already been exposed to most of what Georgia writes about. If you are going to shelter them from a relatable book that really isn't too explicit, then where are they going to learn about these things that offend you, besides through experience? If you are not comfortable reading about them, then are you really comfortable talking about them? Just because you could not enjoy a book doesn't make it a bad book.
Basically, this is an enjoyable, thoughtless, mostly humorous book that is easy to pick up and put down whenever the mood strikes you. It is certainly a chick lit, but worlds more palatable than Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries and the like. It is written by an English author, so it does have English slang, but there is a glossary at the back for any really confusing words.

Book Description
Feminism isn't dead. It just isn't very cool anymore. Enter Full Frontal Feminism, a book that embodies the forward-looking messages that author Jessica Valenti propagates on her popular website, Feministing.com.
Covering a range of topics, including pop culture, health, reproductive rights, violence, education, relationships, and more, Valenti provides young women a primer on why feminism matters.
Valenti knows better than anyone that young women need a smart-ass book that deals with real-life issues in a style they can relate to. No rehashing the same old issues. No belaboring where today's young women have gone wrong. Feminism should be something young women feel comfortable with, something they can own. Full Frontal Feminism is sending out the message to readers — yeah, you're feminists, and that's actually pretty frigging cool.
Customer Reviews:
Probably more for younger feminists.......2007-10-05
I believe that this book would appeal more to younger women who may be confused about feminism or who may be just starting to explore what it means to be a feminist. The informal writing style probably resonates more with the "texting" generation, even though I found the style a little too informal for my taste. The author is probably targeting younger women who disavow the label "feminist" all the while harboring feminists ideologies. So I give the author kudos for attempting to bring younger women on board by explaining what it really means to be a feminist. And kudos to the author for embracing feminism and touting the necessity of feminism, during a time when the righties are doing everything they can to demonize it. I recommend this book for young women and for more seasoned feminists who wish to hear the voice of one of the young women who has taken up the torch!
Great Primer.......2007-09-29
This book is one of many new books on the market that offer a primer on feminisms. I found this book just as interesting as Megan Seely's book.
Valenti offers a strong foray into a preliminary history of feminisms in the US. Her writing is clean and at times sarcastic, which I enjoyed for the most part. There are certain sections where I felt she needed to expand on some points to give a clearer view of the issue.
The audience for this book is a lay audience or university audience new to feminism or women's studies.
I found that the list of sources at the end of the book to be the most useful. However, I do think that Seely's information at the end of each chapter was more helpful for someone new to feminisms.
Great read!.......2007-09-27
I didn't agree with every opinion of the author (maybe 90%), but she certainly made me ponder issues that haven't made my own radar screen because they haven't effected me personally. It opened up my mind more to how women are portrayed in the media, how they're effected by political / legislative decisions, etc. I haven't read much feminist literature since my college days where I picked up a minor in women's studies. The book is a refreshing (despite the author's self-proclaimed proclivity for cursing!) and easy read and reminded me that I need to do more to advance women's issues. I've been looking for a new volunteer opportunity (something I'm terribly passionate about) and I am now very clear what the focus will be! I want to be involved in making my community a better place for the next generation of women, especially my new little niece!
We want revolution, girl style now!.......2007-08-28
I think this book is an excellent introduction for young girls into the world of feminism. There are some shocking statistics, which myself, as an active young feminist, were horrifying to read. A great starter book for those looking to break in.
Eye Opening .......2007-08-12
This book was a breath of fresh air when it comes to feminism literature. As a young woman I've never categorized myself as a feminist. I never could relate to anything I found about feminists. However Ms. Valenti's book opened my eyes to many of the things which I find I just accepted as a woman. This book is amazing, and a great and fun read.

Practical, Broad-Based Perspective on PR.......2007-07-30
A friend of mine who is a PR professional recommended this book to me. As someone with next to no background in PR before I read this book, I am amazed how much I gained from the philosophy and approach it describes. On several occassions applying what I learned from Full Frontal PR has translated into successful projects in both work settings and professional organizations in which I am involved.

If you're in PR or marketing - get this book now. It's got a lot of common sense know-how in the pages. Plus, it makes some great connections between PR and marketing. What an inspiration!
A Non-pictorial Textual Book for Buzz Builders (if you were worried).......2007-03-25
Richard Laermer, PR pro of a New York City Public Relations firm, spills the beans on the secrets of the buzz-building industry in this concise and easy to read book. "Full Frontal PR: Building Buzz About Your Business, Your Product, or You," is a perfect little concise guide, one that is very readable by the way, for those medium to small businesses that may not have it in their budget yet to hire a marketing or advertisement firm.
I have been in the Public Relations field for three short months now and picked up Laermer's book from Amazon to delve into some professional reading on my new-found profession and I must say, it didn't disappoint. I found myself learning a lot and tried to hone in on the chapters discussing on-line ways to build buzz as its very much an interest of mine as well as directly related to my professional job. If your marketing and communications budget is tight, you could easily pick up Laermer's book and take a few suggestions (in your spare time right?) and run with them to get your business more exposure in the press and the public eye. After all, you've got to find some way to get your product, service, mission in life out there. I used to do non-profit management and I have to say, I wished I ran across Laermer's book upon starting that job. I think it would have given our non-profit better tools to court the media than those we were using.
One of the best features I liked about the book is the invaluable web site recommendations collected at the back and scattered throughout the book. I haven't had time to peruse them yet at length but plan on book marking them and using them at work. Some of his advice was covering known ground so the book might not appeal to the PR pros who have been in the industry for 3 or more years I'd say. But I'm sure for the open-minded among you, there are things you can pick through from "Full Frontal PR," that might jog some thoughts and ideas. I think for some folks who have been practicing PR for awhile, there is a reluctance to embrace new media formats for getting the message out there in the papers, on the web, and on the streets and in the homes...this book may just open some of those windows for you.
Good book. Catch a buzz in your local bar while reading this book and then follow-through with some of Laermer's advice. You never know what just might pop up? ...mmw
Packed with useable tips.......2005-12-26
I found this book to be packed with practical ideas and information. After reading it I felt that I had a sound basic knowledge of how the news media works, and was confident about how to prepare materials for them to use. Of course every layman thinks they know how the media works, but after reading this you realise how intricate it can be.
Strengths of the book:
- Covers the whole industry - print, TV, internet
- Fairly up to date (2003), with a better Internet chapter than a 2005 PR book I just finished
- Dense with tips and practical information
- Written in a fun, up-beat style
- You will walk away from this book and actually use many of the suggestions. I've had a top-name PR agency on retainer for a year and I now realise how uninspiring and lazy they have been.
Weaknesses:
- Information isn't logically laid out. The first third is set out as an encylopedia in alphabetical order, rather than a logical narrative, which I find is a poor way of "teaching". Overall it is a collection of tips rather than the step-by-step guide it claims to be
- Assumes you are in US and only deal with US media
- A little bit too up-beat at times for my taste (no shortage of exclamation marks)
- Assumes quite an advanced understanding of the media to begin with - reads like he's talking to a fellow PR buddy over a coffee
- I think case studies are especially useful, but there aren't many in here.
Overall: Highly recommended, it really gave me a "quantum leap" in terms of my understanding of the media, inspiration, and practical ideas for how to get my material out.
Incidentally: Much, much better than "Media Relations" by David Henderson which I finished last week.
MY PR BIBLE!.......2005-12-14
I first learned of "Full Frontal PR" in I think it was February 04 at a Fast Company "Circle of Friends" meeting where Richard Laermer was the guest speaker sharing his recently released book "FULL FRONTAL PR".
Well I was so impressed with the book that I've read it 10+ times [turbo-highlighted and marked up front to back], it's my PR bible and I attribute the unbelievable global publicity I've gotten [sans a PR firm] from reading+ re-reading and using "Full Frontal PR" in all of my efforts.
I can't express enough how much insight, wisdom and potential wealth people will get from his words".

Book Description
“Shelley Lewis figured out a way to make me laugh out loud at adultery, corruption, bribery, prevarication, hypocrisy, pumpkin shooting, race baiting, insanity, cat murder, and filthy, groping old men. Naked Republicans is an instruction manual for the things you can get away with and still keep your job in Washington, D.C.”
——Rachel Maddow, Air America Radio
Naked Republicans is the exposé you’ve been waiting for. From Cheney to Condi, from DeLay to the Dukester, from Newt to Rummy, these are the weasels, wackos, and wingnuts who turned the party of Lincoln into a five-kegger blowout.
For the first time, in one hilarious roundup, Shelley Lewis reveals the naked truth about the fiscal conservatives who spend money like they print it themselves (oh, right–they do); the pious pols who regard the institution of marriage so highly they’ve moved on to their second and third wives; and the deceitful dissemblers who’ve earned a place in the Hall of Shame. In these troubled times, when you don’t know whether to laugh or cry, Naked Republians puts the hip back in hypocrisy and restores the fun to fundamentalism!
“If you crave a hilarious exposé of the weasels who need to be sent home from Washington, you need to buy this book!”
——Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher, The Nation BACK
Customer Reviews:
Where is the citations of this book?.......2007-07-16
I read the book. It is funny, but, there is not much else in the book. The Author cited a few things about all the characters in the book, however, there is no due citations to check the correct references and the whole comments or article about the "quotation".
Notes to those who think this is a great book, look again, it is a funny read, but other than that, this is the ranting of lazy writer of the Bush Administration and the republicans.
Also, it makes your class this much lower when you attack those who is not in the political scenes. Leaves the wife and mother out of it.
Capitol Hill-arious.......2007-02-08
Incredibly funny, well investigated, and delivered spot on! It is hard to believe that the politicians mentioned have actually made such humorous statements - but they have. A great plane read, or anywhere read really.
scary views of Republican leaders.......2006-11-10
Highly readable, humorous and factual documented positions of the nations Republican leaders. Extremely well written, easy reading.
Funny...but sad.......2006-10-09
This is one of those laugh-out-loud kind of books. The author cleverly lumps politicians into humorous categories and describes each one with biting wit. I went through the book in a couple of evenings. The only downside is that after you've had a chance to digest the content of the book, you can't help but feel a bit of sadness at the current state of affairs.
exceptional satire!.......2006-10-04
Wow. This book is a winner. I almost peed in my pants, I was laughing so hard. I think even Republicans will find this sharp, smart book funny. Even my grandparents found it relevant and hilarious and right on!
Looking forward to the next one.

Customer Reviews:
Nice Book - Great Price at Amazon.......2006-08-14
It's a nice fashion book...not the be all end all, but nice.
Excellent material for beginners.......2005-10-12
Valuable information written in simple English. Perfect for common people without a fashion background. Good pictures and lots of tips and useful hints.
Dripping with drivel.......2005-09-29
I bought this book thinking it would offer some smart guidelines for building a stylish wardrobe that also reflects one's personality, and that it might dish its advice in a tone that is fun to read. Wrong on both counts. It was more along the lines of "You should so totally buy a beautiful, wonderful dress, maybe even a COLUMN dress, for that wedding you have to attend. But don't ruin it with icky shoes!" As far as the "fashion personalities" they listed, I didn't find myself in any category. Rather, I know what category I'm in, and they didn't think to list it. The only thing I liked about the book were the letters written by people with fashion crises--first date ever, etc, included at the beginnings of the chapters. Otherwise, the annoyingly chirpy generalizations that filled this book were nothing I couldn't get in any fashion mag for much less money.
Not Again!.......2005-08-29
I suppose it was unrealistic of me to expect any new insights or AHA! moments while reading this book...but the disappointment was especially bitter when I realized that 99 percent of everything I read I had read before. Learning to define my fashion style as "classic" or "preppy" really didn't do it for me, and my closets are already weeded, thank you very much. A waste...(waist?) of money.

Book Description
Over the past three years, Nerve.com has defined a new genre in contemporary literature: short, sexy fiction that excites above and below the neck. Incisive, honest, and gripping, these stories rewrite our understanding of what sexual fiction can be.
Full Frontal Fiction collects the most innovative and literary erotic fiction to appear on the Web pages of Nerve. From established names like Jay McInerney, A. M. Homes, Robert Olen Butler, Mary Gaitskill, and Elizabeth Wurtzel to the best of today's new voices,
Full Frontal Fiction contains some of the most provocative writing in America today.

Great Book.......2000-12-18
It's about time our favorite pastime be pulled from the recesses of morality and be recast in an intelligent and palatable light. Mr. Murninghan and Ms. Field have truly done justice to this end. In particular, I was completely floored by Darcy Cosper's "A Story Problem," in which she dissolves the story to its most basic components and functions, replaces the characters with letters as if to solve for an algebraic equation, and then, in the most playful and equivocal way, both asks the reader to solve for the variables while solving them for us. This example was in particular; there were many others in this anthology that were brilliant.
Full Frontal Fantastic!.......2000-11-04
I decided to buy this book because I have been a fan of nerve.com for quite awhile now. I think it is amazing how these people can make sex so literary! I can honestly say that when I began reading this book, I fell in love with it! These stories were so poignant and creative. So much of this novel is sexual, but the writing completely takes over and makes me think. My favorite story is "The Wedding of Tom and Tom" by Keith Banner. Yes, it is about two retarded men who cannot get enough of each other sexually, but they also love each other, and they end up teaching other people about love as well. I think all the stories are fantastic, and I am so thrilled that I bought this. Congrats nerve.com for bringing sex into the literary millennium!

A Great Journal.......2004-04-30
(...) This is a story of a girl and her friends, and how they survive their Middle School days. Her and her friends go on many adventures. But, mostly always seeking one particular thing, but of course I will not tell what that is. It is very interesting the words she chose. The reson for that is because she is from a different country. You will find out what country it is when you read this "faby" book, as she would call it. I highly recomend this book for all girls as they are growing up. Girls it will supprot you with certain subjects, that deal with girl stuff, and many other things, about growing up. Also this is only one if the books in the great series. Thanks for reading my review of this "faby" book!
don't read this book where people will see you.......2003-09-06
I made the mistake of reading this book at school after we finished some standardized test (PLAN? PSAT? it doesn't matter). At any rate, it was supposed to be silent in there for the people finishing the test. But I couldn't stop laughing. I had to try and hold it in. I teared up several times. My friends (who read the book before me) kept looking back at me to see if I was still okay. We passed it and the rest of the series around as if they were forbidden narcotics. We had a waiting list for each book. We read them over and over, crying with laughter each time. We found so many things that Geogia did so realistic. We each sympathised with her decisions. And then we laughed at her.

Excellent.......1998-04-30
Full Frontal Murder was one of the most suspenseful mysteries I have read. The characters were good, and the plot was well done. A great continuation of the Marian Larch series.
A great book-a great series-a fantastic author.......1997-07-07
Rita and Hugh are in the midst of a nasty divorce that includes
child custody of their four year old son Bobby when someone tries to snatch
the child. Only the quick intervention of a police officer stops the
abduction from being successful. Though each parent accuses the other of
orchestrating the incident, the lad's wealthy grandfather believes that a
true kidnapping for ransom was attempted. The NYPD assign Lieutenant
Marian Larch to investigate the case.
Before Marian can dig deeply into the investigation, the case unravels
as the lead suspects, the parents, are murdered. Still, Marian inches
closer to solving the case when her lover, private investigator Curt
Holland is kidnapped. His abductors want her to drop her investigation or
they will torture their victim till he dies. Marian, who has always feared
a commitment, now has a new fear to deal with: the potential loss of her
beloved, who will certainly be killed if she does nothing.
Barbara Paul has written numerous mysteries, but her Marian Larch
series is by far her best. Marian is the complete woman of the nineties as
she struggles with her ambition and independence Vs a commitment to her
lover. FULL FRONTAL MURDER adds much insight to Marian's motivations as
her personal and professional lives crash together. The Larch books are
one of the finest police procedural series because it takes readers to the
inside of Manhattan through the senses of a fantastic multi-dimensional
protagonist.
